20 Best Helmet For Naked Bike (2023 Updated)

I made sure to ride with it for a full season before reviewing. This helmet gets looks when it’s in full face config. Very unique and eye catching. It blends in with the V-twin crowd in skull cap mode, very comfy.

Just don’t expect the face pieces to protect you, it’s just a flexible molded rubber, no impact resistance what so ever. Might keep the pavement from sanding your face off for a little bit, but would likely get ripped off first.

It was not intended as a safety piece and they are not marketing it as one. As long as you understand that you’ll probably love this helmet. Couple of critiques though: 1) Holy wind noise batman! Doesn’t matter if it full face or half helm config, this thing is just as loud as open ears at all times.

2) Super easy to convert to any other mode once you figure out how the hooks line up, but then you have extra components to keep safe and no case or bag comes with them for that. (There is a full helmet sized bag, of course, but that still leaves you tossing two pieces into one bag) 3) The Sizing is a little odd, but not hard to dial in.

Thing is that following the size chart exactly will leave you with a helmet that’s a size, maybe half a size, too large. Keep this in mind. Favorite things: 1) Despite the wind noise this thing doesn’t create all that much drag.

You can where it confidently without it acting like a sail for your head. Well, any more than any helmet anyway. 2) The visor retracts into the main helmet so that it’s available in any config. Not the greatest sun blocker, but you won’t be blinded either.

3) How modular the design is. You can configure this helmet in so many ways there’s bound to be one that works for you.

In other reviews at F9, they say that the helmet looks really cool and I agree. On the flip side, it seems to be built a little cheaply – like the sun visor can literally drop down if you shake your head up and down.

Other things on the flip side is the value. For the price you pay and for what this is, you really might as well get a full face helmet for even better protection. If you are looking for an open face helmet, I recommend going with other brands as they simply look better in general, offer the same protection, and possibly cost less.

When you take off the face cover, which offers no protection aside from bugs and very small debris, the open helmet looks bad. Like Tom Arnold said in True Lies, “Hey, I remember the first time I was shot out of a cannon!” For what this helmet is, you simply cannot justify the price unless you are really just into the looks.

If they made this helmet full face, with a better sun visor, that would be amazing.

Excellent features in this helmet! Completely changed my riding experience. Helmet comes with mouth cover, dark eye lense and clear lense for night. (dark installed from factory) mouth cover comes with an additional chin cover that you can have in for breezy days or out for hot days.

The ear pockets inside are more than adequate for wireless earbuds or comms, no weird pressure points. Helmet is light weight and extremely comfortable right out of the box. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the wind noise is quite high when speeds of 80kmph or more are sustained.

Wireless buds fix that issue. Styling is on point for a naked / sport bike and fits the bill for that bad a$$ look. Often get compliments on how cool it looks. This helmet does fit true to size according to their specified sizing chart.

Use a string to measure your head and go from there. Now the price is a bit high, but in my opinion, worth every penny.

Not as ?low profile? as I?d hoped. It?s one shell with different sized inserts. So if you have a big melon then you won?t have the ?mushroom head? look. But if you have a small head well then?..

I just bought this helmet last week. First half helmet I have used, and I love it. The fit is true to the sizing chart. Doesn’t have too much of the mushroom head look. The visors work great. The only problem I have is with the graphics.

They are nowhere near what the photos look like. Very poor quality, and very small on the helmet. Other than that, the helmet fits great.

Just bought this helmet. It is the first helmet I have with any kind of visor ,I ride an older bobber sportster no windshield and was looking for a little bit of protection from the bugs and wind now.

I love this helmet ! It is super light ,has both a clear and sun visor. I wear glasses and they fit under the visor no problem. I love the attachment for the ears will be great in colder weather ! I also ordered the HJC IS Cruiser to try them both on Though the visor on the HJC came down further (below my nose) and the helmet covered my ears ,I found it a bit bulky but was also impressed by it.

If you want more protection from sound and wind the HJC is probably your best bet Having never driven with any kind of visor I kept the GMax. You cant go wrong with this helmet ,two visors and ear protectors if you want them.

Fit and finish are good for the money. The shell size is about average – I don’t look like a total mushroom head (mine was a small and fit my oval head perfectly) but you can tell it’s a DOT helmet with a visor.

The visor is optically great, no distortion and very easy to see through. There’s plenty of room for my sunglasses underneath when it’s down. The only potential problem I foresee is that the visor is very easy to raise and lower.

With my previous GMAX helmet the visor eventually got so loose it would fall down as I was riding. I put a few strips of electrical tape along the outside ends of the visor to tighten it up. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.

I really like the helmet and receive lots of compliments. There are snapout ear accessories which is great. An extra sun visor is also included if you want to switch out the dark one to clear. My only issue is the visor seems to be short and doesn’t come down far enough.

Well the worst happened I was in a severe accident breaking both of my legs, flying 60ft and landing on my head. This helmet did its job perfectly. Being SNELL I did suffer a good concussion and still have amnesia from the entire week leading up to my accident but it kept me alive and that is what’s important.

Two months later I am fine and outside of the first day I had no issues with speech or memory. The emergency paramedics, the officers that responded, as well as my surgeon all agreed with a lesser helmet I would have been dead on impact.

The officers in particular were incredibly impressed having been the first ones at the scene, thankfully I don’t remember how mangled I was but my friend said he had to hold in vomit. This was my very first helmet and 5 years later it was still up to the task.

At this price point I really don’t think you can beat it, you can pay double the price and still not get emergency release pads or a rating higher than DOT. I recommend the R420 to every new rider I meet hoping to keep them safe.

Quality: Very well-built helmet with a solid feel to it. The fasteners, straps, plastic, and visor are all high quality, and seem like they’ll last more than the lifetime of the helmet. The plastic on the exterior is a little thin and seems brittle on the sunshield, so in a hard fall it would definitely break off.

4/5. Comfort: Very comfy helmet with lots of ventilation. The padding fits well, and it is easy to take off and put on with minimal crushing of your ears and eyebrows. Airflow is good, and even standing still in it you really don’t have to worry too much about fogging.

It has a nice air dam on the chin piece that keeps your breath away from the visor. The only downside is it’s pretty heavy. 5/5. Features: Feels like a space trooper EVA helmet, and looks super cool.

Flip-down sunshade built in, ratcheting chinstrap for quick adjustment, sliding vent controls, high modularity. Great field of vision. Only downside is lack of easy comm system compatibility. 5/5.

I picked this up to try out an adventure style helmet without spending a kilobuck. You get what you pay for. It is comfortable and easy to put on and remove, but fairly heavy. It is noisy, both wind and road, so consider earplugs mandatory.

It seems to be well ventilated and may well be the source of some of the noise. The integrated sun visor is nice but could have come down just a tiny bit further. The main shield is my main gripe. Detents are weak and it will not fully close as there is no latch or meaningful bottom detent in the mechanism.

When all the way up the corners of the shield are in your field of view. The front vent is so poorly made I can’t actually close it. I like some of the characteristics of an ADV helmet but will continue using my Shoei RF-1400 as my main lid for now.

Seems like a decent quality, reasonably priced ADV helmet. Definitely ventilated. I did fit Cardo speakers but there is no real speaker hole and had to try several variations of shoving the speakers forward toward the strap connections to get them where they would be comfortable and could hear them.

Adjusting where the straps connect and making an indent for the speakers would make the helmet much better. Sun shield is easy to operate and I like the quick release strap though there was no where to store the excess strap once you had it adjusted so had to cut that off and burn with the lighter to keep from fraying.

Wearing sunglasses did not work for me and after about 30 minutes I had to remove them.

As others have mentioned, this helmet runs 1 size smaller than its listed size. I was fortunate that the local Wal-Mart has them in stock so I could try it on before I purchased it. I usually wear a size large helmet (about 7 3/8 – 7 1/2 hat size) but the XL version of this helmet fit perfectly; even my prescription sunglasses fit inside well enough for me to wear them while I was racing.

The large size was too snug, and it felt more like a medium and a half size of other brands of helmets. If you’re expecting ARAI or SHOEI quality, dial your expectations back a few notches or else you might be disappointed.

I bought it to use for track days in my car and for less than $80 out the door, it was a great deal. It’s DOT Certified, but I’m not sure if it is Snell Certified or not. For use in a car or as an extra motorcycle helmet, it’s a good deal.

It has a pretty decent fit and finish, but it had a slight chemical smell inside due to the pads. I used some Fabreeze on the inside padding and let it air out for a couple of days so now it smells fine.

For the price and what I needed it for, I’m happy with the purchase.

I bought this for my passenger helmet and everyone seems to love it. I wanted something I could trust but at the same time not break the bank and I?m very happy with how the process was, fast and very to the point.

This is an awesome helmet for a great price! Me being an amateur super bike racer from the Dominican Republic and with a limited race budget, this is a top of the like product for the under $150. 00 category!.

lot of details on the graphics and the actual design. First helmet that I use that I felt they left “space” for my ears haha, really light weight and even if its DOT approved only, doesn’t feel like a cheap helmet that won’t protect you from an accident.

The fit was just right for me, I have compared this to my Tilley hat size and fit the same. Plus I really liked the look (I have the grey one). Still not ridding, bought this for my course, but really looking forward to ride with it.

Let’s set my position I’m a Shoei RF guy, I had an RF1000 and an RF1100 that I liked a lot. Previous to that, I had an HJC which protected me perfectly in a crash Recently I was locked out at work for 5 months and I needed a new helmet because my RF was just to old.

I new that I could count on HJC to provide me with a good helmet for not a lot of money The price at which this thing sells is unbelievable for what it is. Yes the visor operation is a bit clunky , but the visor opens, locks and works good.

(Again compared to a $600+ helmet) The fit for my head is good, it’s very breezy and noisy , so not really suited for my riding (90% highway speed, earplugs are a must for any ride more than 40 km) But again , the fit and finish and comfort is unreal, how can they make such at thing at this price is remarquable.

To the point that it made me feel bad about wanting to buy my next RF, now that I’m working again. Why shouldn’t I buy a more expensive HJC instead ?.

I normally would have bought a top of the line helmet but with the new ECE regs coming next year decided to buy a cheaper one for now until the new ones become available. But this is a great helmet, esp for the price.

Looks and quality are much better than what’ve you would expect. The Milo orange I got could be mistaken for a helmet costing 3x the price. Fit and comfort is v similar to the RPHA range, just not quite as plush.

Venting is very good and noise is about average.

On our way to Cota for MOTOGP we had very high southwinds going against us so there was alot of wind buffeting at over a 100 mph, so it was hard to see. But on the way back the wind was at our backs.

No buffeting issue at all. So my buddy w/ a much more expensive ARAI had the same issues. So nothing to do w/ helmet design. The HJC is a good helmet! Light and comfortable!.

This is my fourth Schuberth helmet! They were all great helmets but this one is the best yet! Great ventilation and the quietest modular helmet you can get!

Helmet is good and fits well. The audio system with SC1M seems to work well as well. Revzilla buying process howerver is disapponting. They didn’t inform that the helmet already comes with a M1 Visor so I purchase separately.

Now I have two and in order to return Revzilla will charge me 7. 99 for a shipping label (1/3 of the price). Might as well keep it? That’s disappointing and it’s not a practice that Revzilla should pursue to sell more items.

Excellent helmet. The bluetooth add on works great. The speakers sound very good. The aerodynamics are perfect. Very quiet and little buffeting. Love this helmet. And Motocard has the best prices on the internet with very fast delivery.

Very comfortable, not heavy. Like the strap assembly. Definitely like the pull down visor. The design and color looks good also. Much better on peripheral vision and hearing than a full face helmet.

I wanted this helmet last year when I saw it, but was out of stock. Great graphics, love the easy quick connect chin strap/ buckle, fit is excellent. Overall a great quality helmet.

My husband bought me a new helmet and I love it. After measuring my head, we ordered the size from the chart. I’m very please with the fit. The graphics are awesome. Love the way that the quick connect is already made into the strap of the helmet.

The only complaint that I have is that the visor does not fit well. It is to short to cover my glasses.

Bought my last three helmets from another well known, well respected company. I were happy, I thought… weight good, comfort and fit good. Not much bounce at higher speeds and higher winds. New helmet needed; always wanted the modular type, started my research.

Schuberth quickly became the favorite out of a list of other, good helmets. Been using the C5 for about 4 months and it is beyond what I thought a good helmet could do. Fits my strangely shaped head very well, the closure system is well thought out and user friendly.

Lighter weight, virtually no problem fast or windy. I did not give a whole lot of thought about the sun shield – if it works, fantastic, if not, keep it in the raised position. Wrong! It easily is one of the reasons I think this is the best helmet I’ve ever owned.

So many positive things to say. When people who had the 3 or the 4 say how much better the 5 is; makes me confident I did my research well. I would recommend this unit to anyone who will listen.

Working at a bike shop makes me by far an expert on helmets, but it does gives me some knowledge as to what this helmet offers compared to many different brands. I am never married to one brand for any specific category either.

With that said, I think you have to be either extremely picky or have somehow (and very unlikely) gotten a bad helmet to give this a bad review. If you find this uncomfortable, please elaborate as to how exactly you find this uncomfortable because the few that have said this don’t really make sense as to how this is uncomfortable.

If this loosens up on you then you have to be doing something wrong. But, enough as to why you may be giving this a bad review. This helmet breathes as you may expect from a helmet at this price point.

It’s as comfortable as you may expect from a helmet at this price point. The strap latches somewhat easily with one hand but unlatches very, very easily with one hand because it’s magnetic. I didn’t expect to hold this well being magnetic.

I expected it to slide but it holds in place just fine. I have other helmets priced similarly but I find myself reaching for this one for long distance comfort breathability. The aero shape may not be for everyone, but it doesn’t look like as bad as you think it may.

Get it, and you won’t be disappointed.

After a long research process and a visit in store to try on about 15 different helmets, I settled on the evade 2. This lid is awesome. It’s lightweight, aerodynamic, good looking, ‘invisible’, high-tech & comfortable.

No ‘mushroom’ to speak of, a decent selection of colours, top-notch safety and tech built in. The MIPS is a proprietary system that reduces bulk (by way of removing the yellow MIPS net) but keeps the safety in tact.

The ANGI system is a great idea, albeit a bit of faff in reality. You have to keep your phone with you and be subscribed to a paid aftermarket service offered through the Specialized app. The straps that people say aren’t any good due to the lack of adjustment, are perfectly fine, in fact once set properly, you can hardly notice they’re there, the magnetic buckle is a nice touch too.

Adjustment and fitting is easy and comfortable, the retention system sits nicely at the base of the skull and the fine movements allow a decent dialled in fit both with and without a hat underneath. Sizing in very accurate too.

Using the size guide on Sigma’s website, my medium fit just right. Once on it’s just vanished, it’s super comfy, light and due to its low profile actually looks better than most other helmets I tried on.

Whilst riding, this thing is FAST. You can feel the wind rushing over and through the helmet, and when you dip your head or ride the drops it feels like you’re drag is significantly reduced. It can get a bit hot under there and though the helmet does a great job of stopping or redirecting the sweat, on big efforts I’ve had some ‘dripping’ occur.

It’s an almost perfect helmet in my opinion, the main setback, if it can be considered one, is the cost. It’s not a cheap buy, at nearly £200 it’s actually one of the priciest on the market, but honestly if you can stretch the budget to grab one, you’ll be happy you did.

For going long, fast or just in comfort or style, this ticks all the boxes. Finally, I cannot express greatly enough how amazing Sigma are. The service, guidance & accommodation they made was above and beyond what I’d gotten used to in retail.

They really are the best. Shout out to Nick for the excellent experience.

I really like the look of the Evade, I have owned a Prevail helmet for some time and although light it does give a mushroom head look. The Prevail does not have that problem. I take a medium in the Prevail and I found a medium in the Evade is slightly smaller which I think is down to the MIPS system my head still fits in it, but it is snug around the sides of my head.

I like the strap I find the routing around the ears with the Specialized helmets really works well and the magnetic strap works well. I think the tracking thing is a bit of a gimmick I’ve set it up but you are completely reliant on remembering to turn the app on and your other half looking at the alert if it comes through on their phone.

Its a nice idea but I don’t think it has been very well executed. I didn’t buy the helmet for this feature so still happy. It is slightly hotter than the prevail but that is a very well ventilated helmet.

This is the helmet I will wear on all but the very hottest day of the year and it is surprising how cool you stay considering the number of vent ports.

I typically love shopping for new gear, going on all the websites, comparison shopping and digging for reviews. So I think it’s very telling that I really did not want to get a new helmet – I loved the Nutcase I had before, the constellations helmet I got in 2016 or so.

I loved the design, the fit, and lately, I was getting a TON of compliments on it. No joke at least once a week someone would stop me and tell me they loved it. I needed a new one because it had been so long, but I really didn’t like any helmet on the market as much as the one I had.

So getting a new one is bitter sweet. The fit is snug and more comfortable than ever, though I think it looks a little big on my head. When I’m wearing it, it feels just as good as always. I still miss the print on the old one, though!.

Made in Germany – ’nuff said. Adult graphics, not hyper stuff that goes out of style next year. Get one in your hands and try it out compared to other helmets. You’ll see.
