20 Best Heavy Duty Reacher Grabber (2023 Updated)

As an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, I am always working with students who are new to the OT practice setting and looking for additional intervention methods and activities to use with their clients.

The set of three WALC books (Executive Functioning, Memory and Everyday Problem Solving) can give the new OT grad some great ideas as to how to address cognition in the neurological practice setting.

This is one of two sample packs that I use when teaching continuing education courses in splinting. This Rolyan Student Splinting Pack, often combined with Small Clinic Pack-B, offers a nice variety of splint materials, which is great for students and continuing education attendees to explore and experiment with.

When used with Rolyan Hook Strips, this loop can be applied in a variety of methods dependent upon needs of the client. With a range in widths, the loop can be used for something as small as buddy taping or finger splints up to large posterior knee splints.

I am short and I have cupboards without knobs. I store extra paper products in the small cabinets over my refrigerator. When I got my grabber I was able to open the door easily and get out some paper towels.

Since I have had two knee replacements, I do not like using step stools and I loved being able to get items stored up high without being scared physically. My husband has neuropathy and has balance issues.

This grabber is great for him to use when he needs to pick up something from the floor. We both are very pleased and the grabber is very easy to use.

I have to say that I thought this reacher-grabber couldn’t possibly lift a candle, let alone a can of vegetables, when I first took it out of the package. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I (of course) tried it on a can of green beans.

Picked it up and held it up with no problems. The suction cups on the ‘grabber’ part are a stroke of genious! They help tremendously with not only the cans, but in picking up, and holding onto, glass items so I’m thinking they will hang onto just about anything with a smooth surface.

I’m 74 years old and have been disabled due to several hip surgeries and a back surgery. The past couple of years have been the worse ever as I’ve lost around 2″ in height. This reacher-grabber helps me in so many ways I’m pretty sure there’s not enough room here to expound on the many virtues of this device! Kudos! The Vive reacher-grabber is, in my experience, the best you’ll find for use around the house. (It’s probably good elsewhere, too, but I’ve not tried it beyond the house. ) It is easy to hold and use (It’s not heavy and doesn’t put stress on your hand or wrist), the length of the arm gives it many applications (so you really can reach what you’re trying to reach), and the suction-cup design makes all the difference in relieving the frustration of not being able to pick up what you want to pick up (from a tiny piece of paper to a shoe or a jar or whatever).

This reacher-grabber is also durable; but if you lose a suction cup, replacements are available, and if something else goes wrong, the Vive reacher-grabber comes with a lifetime guarantee. Some people have commented that it’s expensive–but once you’ve used it, you won’t think so! Forget the cheap and flimsy ones or the ones not designed to do the job.

I bought one and then two more, so I could have them in several locations. And I’ve been happy I could recommend them to several friends about to have surgery or with limited reach.

Well I really don’t think it works that well and will look for one better engineered. The packing cellophane tape was wrapped around it both directions for packaging it. It took us an hour to get that sticky tape off the nabber.

It was not in a box just wrapped in that tape.

This is very handy whenever you want to pick up small objects without bending or squatting, like when your knees are acting up. It can also reach into spaces that your hand cannot (like that pesky space between refrig and cabinet, or beside the washing machine).

It is helpful in the yard as well if you have a lot of pine cones.

Bought this for my Mom who is short. She loves it! Not all grabbers are created equal. We do like this one. I shopped for quite awhile before settling on this one. It saves on neck and shoulder fatigue.

Incredibly helpful! Strong and lightweight. This tool has boosted my ability level and confidence. I recently had spinal fusion surgery and while there is still a lot that I am unable to do (or instructed not to do) this tool has been fantastic in giving me ABILITIES to do so much more on my own.

I hate relying on other people for assistance. With the grabber reacher tool, I don’t have to ask my caregiver to do many of the things I needed help with before. I’m able to reach things down low without bending my back.

I can pick up things after I drop them and reach items on a high shelf to safely lower them. I’m able to pull clothes out of the dryer. I can even sort through my filing cabinet and easily pull out specific papers.

I can turn knobs and press buttons. I only have one suggestion. It would be perfect if I could retract it a little bit. For me, it is just a little longer than it should be because when I pick something up, I can’t place the item in my other hand.

TIP: I should have bought two because if I drop this one I can’t pick it up!.

PROS: Magnets, lightweight, length CONS: Smaller jaw opening. awkward button adjustment, no loop for hanging. So rather thanthe nuisance of returning, I’m also keeping my old model grabber without magnets but easier to use for bigger objects.

Also magnet placement on outside of grabber jaws allows object to be knocked off. Prefer magnets on inside of jaws too to improve secure grip. Overall, this grabber is OK, but would not order again.

The best grabber I’ve ever used. I’ve tried many others and this one is the only one that stands out far ahead of the rest. The tips have magnets to easily pick up small metal items. The handle can be turned for your ease of picking up items.

The grabber tips are strong, rubberized and able to grab nicely and evenly. It also comes in multiple lengths. What else could you ask for? It’s just the best!.

I had a grabber for like 10 years until my daughter stepped on it and broke it. So I was on the search for a new one and I saw this. I really like this product, although, I wish it were a little bit longer.

For someone with average size arms it is the perfect size, but I am 3 feet tall with very short arms and it’s still a bit too short to reach some things. But I do love it for the things I still can reach with it!.

These are the best grabbers! I pick up trash on my bike ride and I have to have a grabber that folds to fit in my front basket. These are the best and last the longest! Please keep making them so I can keep buying them as they do not last forever but the work the best and last the longest!.

It’s still in the box. Arrived okay. The box is not bulky. Here’s a review as asked for. I think it’s a little early for me to give a useful review for anyone contemplating buying this product.

I am relatively short and often need a gripper. This is the best grabber I have owned. It Grips everything firmly, is easy to use, and no pieces to fall off like those other ones with little suction cups! Definitely worth a few extra dollars.

This tool is made very well. I really like how I can pick the smallest item to a very large one. It grips the items very well to make pick up an ease. It is long enough that I do not have to bend over any.

I am 5’4” and this works great for me.

It doesn’t hold things well if they are heavy like a can of vegetables but it’s okay for other things.

I have a bad back and have been using E-Z Reaching Tool for over 15 years. No, never had to replace, just find new use and want another one. One in closet/bathroom for shoes/purses on the shelf or comb/brush falling on the floor.

One in bedroom to move slippers or shoes or magazines on the floor. Dropped remote control on the floor betwddn couch and chair or behing end table. One in the kitchen to reach for soap in the bottom cabinet or can goods or cereal boxes in upper shelvds.

One outside in storeroom to get bug spray or small tools off a shelf. Any senior friend or relative that just had shoulder or hip survery – cute gift and they will think of you every time they use it.

A lot of brands out there – E-Z always has been most durable and has never broke or fell apart. Bedford Texas Customer.

I’ve had this one for only a couple of weeks but use it multiple times a day. It does not have an automatic locking mechanism-which is fine with me. I also bought one for my wife, which she likes. I still have the previous model which had a plastic lockable hinge for folding it in half for storage which broke and a still working but annoying automatic locking grip mechanism.

I wrapped the broken hinge with stiff cardboard and strapping tape tape so it is still usable for light lifts but this version is much better. Highly recommend for reaching down, up or out to pick up items as thin as paper up to about 4 in wide.

BE CAUTIOUS! My new one cut my finger due to the sharp edges on the handle relief slot that receives the squeeze trigger handle. Check those edges and sand them with sand paper to smooth them out to protect your fingers.

(ref red arrows in pic image) – I had my first one for over 2 years using it once a week for 1. 5hours average in the sun. The rubber grabbers allow me to grab small items like paper clips, rubber bands and staples.

They do get dried up and harden over time. – To avoid the grabber screws loosening and dropping out, I removed the screws and applied Locktite Instant Adhesive (not thread locker) and reinstalled the screws which never loosened again.

IšverstiShow in original languageWeight is good for older person. It’s long enough for tall people. Seems to be made of good heavy- duty materials. The gripper is very good for large and small objects, and the trigger does not need a lot of hand gripping power to operate.

First, I want to say that the four pictures do not show the same handle. The third one shows a closeup of a handle on one of these things that I’ve owned. Where it’s attached to the rail, there is a big empty space between two thin connecting lengths of plastic, which do not take long to break.

I find it hard to believe that this was not designed to break quickly. Any savings in weight or plastic would be trivial. I’ve used a lot of these things for picking up beverage containers and I’ve had two of them with this handle and they both quickly broke.

The forth picture shows one with a different handle without that open space. Before buying one, I would make sure to get a solid handle (I’ve owned more than one, without the solid handle, because I pick them up cheap at rummage sales).

Another problem with this design, is that the string being threaded around its plastic guides does not provide a lot of gripping strength for heavy objects like full glass bottles. I’m surprised that the description includes: “Great for those with reduced hand strength”.

They are very light duty, although the aluminum rail is very sturdy for its light weight.

My Mother received one of these grabbers over 45 years ago and used it until her death. I took it after that in 1992. I have praised it often. My Great grandson got ahold of it and broke the end piece.

I really like this product, due to the fact it reaches, grabs and holds on better than a previous design I had. I broke my back 2 years ago and I can no longer bend. This allows me to pick up objects on the floor.

I also use it to pick up broken branches in my yard. I live in the NW and we have had several severe wind storms, knocking a load of branches out of my surrounding fir trees. My grabber will allow me to clean the yard without hiring someone.

I like my independence and this product allows me to keep it.

I have been using this for the past 5 years or so. I broke one by twisting it when I shouldn’t have, so I immediately went out to get another one. I found the same brand, but a “more ergonomically designed” model.

I purchased that model and tried it, but it didn’t work nearly as well as this one: it didn’t have the same gripping strength. I finally found this model again at TSC and I purchased a couple of them.

This is great for those of us who have backs that hurt if we stoop too much. This is a must have product for all those who have trees that often drop limbs and other debris that has to be picked up. I can reach out and pick it up from my mower without getting off.

I’m in a powerchair and have one of these in every room! I can grab cans from the back of the pantry. If I spill something,I can drop a few paper towels on it and use the grabber to wipe it up. I can move small limbs blocking the sidewalk.

Crazy how great this reacher/grabber works! It will easily pick up nails, dimes, up to bricks with no trouble whatsoever.

Bought this as a replacement. Could not recall the brand of the one I had that broke, and it was not on the reacher itself. Took my chances with this one. On the positive side, the magnet is much stronger than the one that was on my old reacher.

On the negative, it is nearly useless to me as there is too much slack in the cord that leads from the trigger to the pincer grasp, so it doesn’t pinch tightly enough to pick up anything small or thin.

And as with most, it can’t really pick up anything terribly heavy either. So unless what I’m trying to grasp is fairly large but not heavy, it doesn’t do me much good. I will make due til I can find another option, since it would cost more to return than it is worth.

Won’t buy DMI again!.

Bring short, I bought this so I can remove wet clothes easier from my new deep washer without over stretching my arms or back, or having to stand on a stool. I used it on a load of wet towels and it worked great! Able to handle the weight so I know regular clothes should be no problem.

Look forward to other uses for this around the house too.

It works great for small items. I would not pick stuff off the top shelf as many pictures show. You might get hit in the head. Having had surgery six weeks ago and warned that if you bend down you are going to dislodge the doctors handy work.

(not true after six weeks). Has a magnet at the end that come in kind of handy for some things.

You’ll get a lot of use out of this grabbing tool, inside and outside the house. It’s so light so you don’t get tired using it.

This grabber can reach tjings high or low and in tight quarters too. This is mommas little helper!

I use this everyday in my lawn care business. I have had other but they don’t last. These are well made and can be use everyday.

A friend loaned me the rotating reacher-grabber for use after my spinal surgery as I was unable to bend over for 12 weeks. It is such a great device, I purchased another. It picks up everything, firmly and easily.

Helps me feed my cat, put on my boots, grab a glass jar out of a low drawer, pick up tiny stuff or big stuff. Thank you for such a great design. Not all grabber tools are created equal! I would also like to point out that I have severe arthritis in my hands and I find no problem in using this device.

I also have the dressing stick, which I use not only for dressing but also opening refrigerator drawers.

The jaws are too slippery to grip anything heavier than a few ounces. i fixed it, hopefully, by coating the jaws with Goop.

In a wheelchair, this tool makes it easy to reach items on the floor. Traditional grabbers are too long. Perfect length.

Excellent for picking up small things in kitchen cabinet or on floor.

This is overall a great gadget. You can pick up even very small objects even a single Cheerio. The magnets on the outside of the grabbers pick up small metal objects. The only downside is that it’s made of plastic and so not durable enough for opening a plastic drawer which is what I did today and cracked it in half.

My husband was hopefully able to fix it using a clamp and epoxy.

This pick up tool is very useful in hard to reach area. The grabbing control is very smooth and easy. The pick up tip with rubber is very helpful for slippery object. The magnetic at the tip can easily pick small metal part.

This is the best grabber I have ever purchased!!! Some really nice features is it folds up and it is very sturdy and worth every penny!! I carry them on my riding mower to pick up stuff that is in the grass without getting off my mower! Very convenient! I bought others but no where near as strong as this one! I love it!.

I was so pleased with my first reacher that I now have one in the living room, the kitchen, and the bedroom. Using the reacher has not only made things easier but I’ve noticed that I have less pain as I no longer put myself in uncomfortable situations by bending or stretching to pick up or reach for something.

The reacher is so well designed that I’ve even been able pick up tiny objects like buttons and pills! Tonight, however, the reacher passed the acid test. I was making dinner and, as I tried to open one end of a large box of thin spaghetti, the other end popped open and every piece of spaghetti came sliding out the box and onto the floor in a big pile.

Figured I had nothing to lose so I grabbed the reacher and gave it a try and it worked! My first attempt picked up a huge amount off the top of the pile and into the pot of boiling water it went. Since the few pieces still on the floor were so thin, I wasn’t able to get everything up but I was happy with what I could grab.

Love my reachers!.

I walk 6-7 miles daily. As I walk, I pick up trash. With COVID and other potential infecting organisms out there, this is the perfect tool for picking up trash as I walk without handling it. Particularly important when folks toss their face masks out the window!.

Great grabber, light weight but holds tight and can pick up lightweight to medium weight objects without worry of dropping. Not sure I’d trust it to heavy stuff being grabbed over my head height. But still a very good grabber for most things.

In thr house when you are a shorter person.

This seems like maybe a goofy gift but I think every person/woman should have this! It makes cleaning up outside junk easier, getting fallen socks from behind the dryer easier, toys that have fallen in impossible places, and so much more.

I plan on getting this for any secret santa I’m assigned to.

I thought I loved it at first. It picked up the very small items off of the ground. But, the handle is made very cheaply and split in the middle. I taped a dowel inside the grip so it works, sorta.

Great product. Very well made compared to a bargain priced one I got at a discount tool store.

Great design but when u squeeze handle for items? The suction cups r weak. The device can’t pick up heavy items. I have owned several of these and this one is defective. The spring in handle is weak.

Love this Ez Reacher pro because it locks so I don’t lose what I am picking up. Use it every chance I get. I have definitely recommend to my family and friends to get one for themselves.

this is very strong grabber as it has no swivel joint on the shaft. it also does not lock when gripping something. still recommend as i use one in the yard and pick up heavy items,
