20 Best Heavy Duty Industrial Scissors (2023 Updated)

Bought to cut thru some 1/2 inch diameter fish skin dog chews. Barely worked. Don’t seem sharp at all. Dissappointing.

Well designed and manufactured. Used them to reduce a number of cardboard boxes to recycler size. Thought my arthritic hands would be screaming the next day but no problem. Very satisfied with this purchase.

These scissors were purchased for my husband to use at work, trimming fiberglass tape and heavy duty card board. They are the best scissors he has ever use. We are purchasing two more! I’d highly recommend them!.

Over half the length of these scissors is in their handle, so if you have smaller hands, you will find these scissors difficult to open very wide, and if you can’t open them, you can’t cut with them.

Also, the cushioning is more of a coating that sticks to your skin; that’s OK for your bottom fingers, but your thumb needs to be able to glide inside the thumb opening as you cut. The coating makes these scissors drag against your thumb skin, which gets very uncomfortable very quickly.

I ended up returning these scissors. I bought a pair of Fiskars 6″ Easy Action Micro Tip Scissors and am very happy with them.

I have just spent the last two days cutting with these and am very pleased. The non slip grip is just right they are neither over slippery or over sticky. The bent angle is also well done. I also recently purchased the set of: Singer Heavy Duty Scissors 5-1/2″-W/Power Notch and the Heavy Duty Scissors, 8″.

I have put them all to the test (several weeks use on the later two) and feel I have winners in all three. The 8″ (made for right or left hand use) have blades reaching all the way back into handle and are very powerful.

Scissors I can call my own! As an empty nester I have lots of old scissors with blank spots and worse and decided the time had come to have my very own scissors set!.

I purchased these to cut hair because they were supposed to be super sharp. I have always cut everyone in my family’s hair and I was tired of buying hair cutting scissors that were dull or dulled after a couple of uses.

This pair of scissors will last for generations. Scissors with plastic handles are just a waste of time and money. Get the best, steel is the real deal.

These are very much better than typical plastic handled kitchen shears with non-adjustable pivot screws – that cost the same or more!

I used them to cut a little off of a rubber gasket and they worked great. Would NOT have been able to do that with my regular scissors.

The shears themselves get 5 stars plus. They are absolutely durable, all-metal, sharp, and up for cutting through thick cardboard (which is what I needed them for). They are qualified for any job you put them to, and won’t break like my Fiskars cheapies did.

The “except” is solely due to the packaging. I called GoldStar ahead of time to ask about them, making sure there was no plastic involved, including the packaging. I said I understood there’d probably be bubblewrap or something (though, why? They’re likelier to break anything they hit than break themselves).

I was told that they were all-metal and the packaging would be minimal. This turned out to be totally false. As a matter of fact, they come in a permanent vinyl slipcase! What for? Maybe there’s a reason, but all it does for me is add bulk in the drawer where I keep them, until it inevitably dries out and breaks along the seam.

I’m not going to throw it out, obviously, because then it will just rest in a landfill basically for eternity. At least I can postpone the final pollution this dumb item will causeSo, if you don’t care about throwing out permanent garbage when you buy things, these are the scissors for you.

If it bothers you that they come with a pointless future garbage vinyl slipcase, avoid these and look elsewhere.

I cut composites- carbon fiber, kevlar, the works. Ive been using $90 Italian beefy boy scissors, but you can get these cheaper. Maybe there is less metal on them so it cant be sharpened as much but Id rather have 2 pairs of these any day.

HOW TO SHARPEN I sharpen by hand in a bench top angle grinder. It takes some practice to get the angles right. Keep trying, its a valuable skill that lasts a lifetime. DO NOT scissor them before removing the burr that is formed.

I take the burr off by running a fresh razor blade along the smooth side of the blades. Run the grinder at low speeds to get more serrations and kevlar will cut great ????.

These are super-big utility scissors, and they work great! I got tired of buying cheap scissors only to have the handle crack and fall off, or the blades be so wimpy they’d deflect when cutting thick paper.

These scissors don’t have those problems. One negative is the finish they’ve put on the handles. It appears the scissors are dipped (?) in something, and not only are there dried drips and lumps in the finish, but rather sharp edges.

This isn’t such a huge issue though, since a lot of this stuff fell off – along with the finish. Not a big enough detractor to return them or recommend against purchase, but I think for the price, the finish could be better.

I need a pair of scissors infrequently and had been getting buy with an old, dull pair. This pair has been great and a real upgrade. Very happy with the high quality of this pair.

These are definitely the best hevey duty scissors, the cut through so many materials. I used them for a project and it cut through a plastic cup and a can and they worked perfectly

I think these are high quality shears that worked well for my needs. I used to use kitchen scissors to cut fiberglass cloth for surfboard ding repair and the scissors would always create runs and pulls in the cloth.

So now that I needed to work in glass cloth again for another hobby, I was determined to find a better solution to cutting the fabric. These shears are large and heavy (but not in a bad way). I chose the smaller 10″ version and worried I needed the 12″ version.

This turned out not to be a problem. The 10″ version worked well. My only complaint is that the shears are very stiff in the hinge. I can’t tell if it is the hinge itself, or the fact that the shears seem to have a fair amount of pressure on the two blades.

That is, they sort of overlap so that when you cut with them, the blades rub against each other as they close toward the tip. They are tight enough that I can barely open them with my cutting hand alone.

I oiled the hinge but it didn’t do anything meaningful. Maybe they will break in overtime. I wouldn’t give them back though as they did an excellent job cutting the fiberglass cloth.

These Wiss shears are awesome! I just finished upholstering a 23’ pontoon boat for friends. These shears easily cut through marine vinyl, snap in carpet, and Sunbrella fabric for the Bimini top. I’m so glad I bought the 10” shears instead of the 12” as my hands are small.

This was the perfect size and weight. I’m sure I will be using my Wiss shears for many more projects! Definitely recommend and would buy again!.

As heavy as these shears are being unable to have the small finger in the grip is very uncomfortable and a little unstable as well. I have a fair amount of cardboard to be cut into patterns. There is a more comfortable way to do it except it would require more space and set up time.

The time saving is the primary reason I went with the shears but it sure can aggravate arthritis after prolonged use. The shears cut well and no doubt for my use will last forever.

These are solid scissors which have worked for everything I have used them on so far. When I took them out of their cardboard and plastic wrapping, I immediately used the pair of scissors to attack the wrapping.

They worked perfectly. They can cut paper, construction paper, and light cardboard with little effort. My hands fit easily into the handles, and I had no problems manipulating the scissors in any activity I chose.

This is certainly an excellent pairs of scissors for the price.

Good basic scissors. Not heavy duty by any means. I believe that this is one of their more budget orientated products I’ve purchased several other Westcott scissor before and I have several that are older than 10 years old still going strong.

These are not constructed the same way. I will say that they are sharp enough for most household tasks. They are also cheap enough to have several one hand when they do start to dull.

I use scissors for cutting paper and trimming hair. These scissors have additional friction when cutting, making it harder to cut. Work OK for paper, but poor for cutting hair. I realize there are special scissors for cutting hair, but I only use them for small area touch ups.

The additional friction in cutting makes them not useful for this purpose. Even for cutting paper the additional friction bothers me, I prefer smoother cutting scissors. I would not buy them again.

These are excellent very sharp none stick Scissors. Super fast shipping thru Walmart at a very reasonable price. I was amazed when I received these Scissors and immediately put them to work cutting up some chicken was like cutting thru butter, and absolutely nothing stuck onto them.

Very comfortable and feel great when using them. I will now look for these Scissors in a larger size if this company makes them. Don’t waste money on high price Scissors like I always did, as for the price of these Scissors, you will not go wrong!.

I work with glitter htv almost everyday- these are by far my favorite scissors for cutting glitter vinyl. I wear them out every few months and then buy a new pair. They’re inexpensive, and something about the blade and the way they’re designed works perfect for me.

I’ve tried other brands but none of them compare and I always end up cutting into my ribbon on bows or ruining the blades. Not my Wescotts. I hope they make these scissors forever!.

I am impressed with the Crescent Weiss CW10TM shears. After using them for about a week, they have earned their spot in my tool bag. Upon opening the package, I did note that the seam on the red handle (both inside and out) could be buffed down a little more; the edge is uncomfortably sharp.

When it comes to actually cutting things, I searched high and low to find normally difficult things for average scissors to cut. Carpet, cardboard boxes, tanned leather, rope, and finger sized wooden branches were no match for these choppers.

I did not try cutting any metal because the packaging said they were not made to cut metal. The serrated blade did a good job of holding the cutting material in place. The titanium coated blades float past each other like butter sliding off a fine steak.

These scissors are in a different league than the utility scissors I have purchased in the past.

I have been so frustrated and annoyed buying many pairs of scissors that only worked for a short time, then were so dull that they could only cut warm butter. I recently bought a pair if Crescent Wiss scissors and I am not only satisfide but delighted with the quality of this product! I would highly reccomend this product to anyone who needs a pair of scissors that cut, and keep on cutting! They’re awesome!! The shears work great cutting through leather, wood veneer, cardboard, and zip ties. I used it Christmas morning to open packages for my children. I love the addition of the serrated edges on the bottom blade as well as the finger groove so that you have a comfortable grip.

I only have 2 complaints. 1st. The shears are made for larger hands. My wife was unable to open and close them one handed properly. My 2nd complaint is the attention to detail. I work as a diecaster and failure to remove a sharp edge is a danger to our customers.

On the outside edge of the thumb ring, it has some very sharp edges highlighted in the pictures. Overall very satisfied.

Made in Germany version without the serrated blades is the one you want. This newer made in China model with serrated blades is not worth the premium price for the Wiss brand. I’m sure the steel is much lower quality as well.

I bought these for a friend that really loved my pair. Had to return since they are a totally different item. The made in Germany ones are impossible to dull, trust me, I’ve cut everything you can imagine with them for years and they are still perfect.

These scissors are strong and sharp. A great value . I own more than one pair and wouldn’t hesitate to buy more or recommend them to anyone. They are light weight and easy to handle.

These are the best all around scissors I have ever used. These are a new version of a pair I have had for years. Mine are still like new so I bought some for friends.

These are my 5th pair of Kai scissors and they all excel at cutting. This pair is heavy and built to go through heavy fabrics like Kevlar or canvas. The quality doesn’t really show up in the photo because you don’t see the thickness.

My other (smaller) Kai scissors have held up to long-term use without needing sharpening. Expensive but worth the price if you need the extra strength.

I heard about Kai scissors about 6 months ago and bought a pair. They are the best scissors I’ve ever used. They are lightweight, cut easily, are well balanced and feel comfortable in your hand. I now have several pair and this was added to my collection.

I am replacing other brands with Kai. The 5000 series is an excellent scissor but the 7000 is the “gold standard”.

These scissors are great! I received them shortly after I ordered them and have been using them every day.

I will start with the bad first because i only can mention 2 negatives, first the packaging that these are sold in is a thin plastic sleeve, these shears are very large, upon picking up the package for the first time the shears fell through and landed point first on my legs, luckily no damage was done but better packaging needs happen.

Second is in the paint for the grip, there were a few small imperfections that were noticeable when gripping. Now to the positives. These are built like a Sherman Tank, heavy with a beautiful grind and polish on the cutting edge.

I have been able to cut thick cardboard, card-stock, and even tried tissue and toilet paper and the results were the same. It cuts like butter. Besides the small imperfections in the grip paint, the grip feels fantastic.

I got these scissors thinking that they’d be great to have in the garage for cutting twine and such. Wife “borrowed” them to cut wrapping paper and some fabric she has and I haven’t seen them since. The one time I did get to use them to cut twine and butcher paper they worked pretty well.

They are plenty sharp and have a nice heft to them. Make no mistake they are a large pair of scissors and since I tend to cut larger pieces of paper I’m plenty happy with the size. Since my wife has absconded with them she told me that they cut very well and doesn’t intend to give them back.

I wish I had gotten a picture of them next to something to show off the size and some of the stuff that I’ve cut prior to them being disappeared but what can you do?.

Does not cut leather well. Might be ok for something stiffer or thinner but does not cut 6-12 oz leather well. More chews through it.

These scissors work for some light yard work and opening up some plastic freezer bags. I wish that they were able to cut wider but its not a big deal.

Only time will tell but out the box(or plastic) they seem pretty good. I bought these on sale hoping they would be a good and reliable set of scissors for time to come. But that is easier said than achieved as time goes on.

Initial impressions are good however.

I was very excited to receive this product to try. Who doesn’t love a new pair of scissors! I feel like these are like socks in my house and at work in that they go missing all the time! The packaging is professional.

It is simple but classy. I like the colors used. The black, grey and white are soothing. I don’t know the price point, but I would hope these would not be too expensive. I wonder if there is a way to change the packaging to reduce waste.

The box is paper that can be recycled and then there is a plastic holder. I like that both parts of the packaging can be recycled, but is there a way to reduce the packaging that is used. ? I used these scissors immediately upon opening them and I was very pleased.

The blades are sharp and made straight cuts accurately. I also used them to cut curves and they were just as easy to use. I think these scissors would be great at the office, but can also be used for arts and crafts and other projects.

The handle is indeed ergonomic. I like that I can use two fingers in the larger handle. This allows for more control when cutting. These may be my new favorite office product! I just compared these scissors to several other scissors that I currently own and the handle has me spoiled already.

I didn’t realize that simple changes would make such a big difference. I could see these TRU RED scissors as part of a color coded desk set. Great product! I am excited to use my TRU RED scissors in the office and at home.

When I need to purchase a new pair of scissors, I will definitely look for this brand at Staples.

First look, this is a high quality pair of scissors. Non-Stick titanium coating looks like a non-stick cooking pan. This is good. I also liked the curved blades and the promise that these blades resist adhesive build-up.

I will be giving this feature a little more time and see what happens. I also noticed that these scissors are for right handed users. The handles are shiny with soft grippy insides for comfort. Overall, I am impressed by the black and gray color scheme.

Professional packaging. TRU RED brand is catchy since there is no splash of red at all on the product or the packaging. I also liked the TRU RED branding on the screw that holds the blades in place. All the edges are smooth.

Cutting is straight and sharp. Blades stay closed when left closed so they do not open when you pick them up. There is a little resistance when using them but I am guessing this will ease up over time.

Does this have recycled content (on packaging or product)? That would be the icing on the cake.

I was genuinely surprised with how much I liked these scissors. I tend to do a lot of crafting so I use scissors a lot. These have been great so far and I am planning to go buy a second pair. These scissors have a sleek/modern look to them with dark colors which is nice.

They fit in both my right and left hand comfortably. The handle has a nice grip that is comfortable (surprisingly!) and my hand didn’t hurt after using scissors for 5 minutes straight. They have a little bit of weight to them and are sharp.

I cut different materials with them and it easily cut a nice straight line through paper, multiple papers, cardboard, and a piece of plastic. Overall, they look nice and expensive, cut really well, and the handle is comfortable and can be used by either hand.

I highly recommend these scissors and have found a pair I LOVE!.
