20 Best Heaters For A Garage (2023 Updated)

These heaters work great, right up until they stop working. I’ve owned two now, and they both stopped working within a few months. To whoever makes these products, there must be some defect in the sensor that tells this thing its level or with its oxygen sensor causing it to turn off.

When they stopped working, I tried using different hoses, different tanks full of gas, put them on a level surface using a level, and they both stopped working within a few seconds. I went so far as to check carbon monoxide and oxygen levels just to make sure the air was good and that was a lot of work just to make sure a heater should work.

So yes, 5 star until right up until they decide to no longer work after a few months. I’m so frustrated to have a nice heater that just stops working after a few months.

I’ve had a Mr. Heater Big Buddy for five years, and it occasionally glitches but has been generally dependable. In Sept 2020 I bought and picked up from Walmart in Taos, NM, a Little Buddy portable, so that I could keep a heater on, set to low, on both ends of thee long room AND so that I’d have a backup, as I live in the wilderness and it’s not easy to get into town, especially in winter, when the unpaved roads get muddy and impassable.

Long story slightly shorter, It worked only intermittently and then not at all–no with a 20-lb tank or, thinking it was the hose, with a 1-lb canister. I brought the unit to my local propane supplier and experts, and after close examination, the boss there concluded that the REGULATOR IS DEFECTIVE.

I want to be able to exchange this DEFECTIVE heater for a new one that WORKS ALL THE TIME! I’m thoroughly disgusted and want the company to weigh in and advise on how to get an exchange.

Purchased my heater over a year ago so I had it on hand to insure I had all the information I needed to insure the right electrical support was put in place. After the electricity was connected to the panel, I tested the unit but the fan was hitting the shroud inside so I shut it down to return to it later.

As the temperature outside was starting to drop, I took a Saturday to readjust the shroud so it wasn’t hitting. Unfortunately the unit stopped a couple of minutes later. It would not restart. Contacted Shanice in customer support explaining what was happening.

She asked me to provide proof of purchase and other information about the unit. Even though it was beyond the warranty period she agreed to replace the unit at no cost except for shipping. Two days after contacting Shanice the replacement unit was in my hand and reinstalled; working as designed.

I purchased this from Amazon just before Christmas! I paid around $200 for it, it does go on sale quite a bit so keep an eye out for the deals! This heater is perfect for a normal 2 car garage! It’s strange that the advertisement on Amazon says 500sqft, but on the box it’s shipped in, it says 750? But needless to say, it preforms amazing well for the 400-500 sqft area! So for me to do my mechanic work in the garage over the winter time here in Chicago, this is a must have for all the DIY and home mechanic workers.

You do need 240V! It’s easy to wire and set up, I recommend help from a licensed electrician, and also hoping you either already have 240 accessible in the garage, this is a hardwired unit, so you do need to run 10/2 straight from the heater into the fuse box.

It doesn’t have a plug wired, but for me, and any one else that has their fuse box in the garage, it couldn’t be easier or more perfect! Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good, quiet, powerful electric heater for their garage or shop! Truly cannot go wrong with this thing! Takes an hour or two to get the temps comfortable! But once they are you can literally work in a t-shirt! It’s currently about 30 degrees here in Chicago.

And my garage is staying nice and toasty at about 60! I can imagine their products will only continue to improve! Very Impressed New Air!.

First impression when opening the unit was that the quality of the materials and construction is very good. Small, but solid and sturdy. I live in the northeast, so I was initially concerned that the unit would be too small for my 2 car garage with 10 ft high ceilings, but so far I am very pleased with how well it can get the space up to a comfortable temperature and keep it there without having to run constantly.

The garage is reasonably well insulated, but the overhead doors aren’t great, so once the temps outside drop into the 20’s (Fahrenheit), we’ll see how it does. After running it for just a few days with the temps in the upper 30’s, it seems to be doing it easily, so feeling pretty confident that it will be good with the colder outside temps too.

The Dimplex worked out of the box and heated but there was an additional whining harmonic noise besides the fan noise that was annoying. I called Dimplex support and described the problem. The technician said there shouldn’t be any other noise except the fan sound and that I should send the unit back to Sylvane for a replacement.

Sylvane was very helpful, issuing me a free shipping return label. The next day I delivered the noisy heater to Fedex to send back and coming home, to my surprise, found an email on my computer that Sylvane was already sending me a replacement.

The heater arrived a couple of days later, worked out of the box, and without any additional noises. This heater is for a 20′ by 20′ garage with a 10′ ceiling. Its insulated on 3 sides and is located in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia.

On a 30 degree day it takes about 1 1/2 hrs to raise the temperature to 50 degrees. Its certainly not the fastest heating machine, but it makes doing woodworking out there quite bearable with a fan noise that is very acceptable.

I’m also appreciative that Sylvane took the extra effort to very quickly get me a replacement, even before they received return of the noisy heater. It leaves me with a good feeling about the company.

Basic but effective wall or ceiling mounted space heater. Fan has an occasional rattle which is the reason for only rating 4 stars. Takes the chill out of a room fairly quickly. Requires a 220V circuit which was not difficult to add to garage space.

Thermostat setting appears to work well. Have a second unit which has been in use for over a year without any problems. In a dusty environment (i. e. woodworking shop) you need to blow out and vacuum regularly to keep unit clean.

At ~ $120 CAD before tax it was less expensive than from some other retail stores.

This heater does not heat up my garage the coil doesn’t even turn red. My hair lower creates more heat. I do not recommend this heater for a garage. Then maybe my heater has a default. I emailed the company but no reply.

I bought this heater a month ago to heat a boat shed where I’m restoring a 29′ Chris Craft. The space is 30’x50′ with 14′ tall ceilings. One side is metal with no insulation and this heater brings the temps up to a very nice working level.

Due to the ceiling height I added an inexpensive 20″ fan at one end which pushes the heat down from the ceiling and disperses the heat throughout the space. Installation was straight forward as was the conversion to propane.

I first ran it off a grill bottle before having a more permanent tank installed and it worked well with both. A great product that compares well with units costing much more.

I’ve had my unit for over two years and I have yet to have an issue with it. It’s quiet and heats my shop up quickly. If your mounting it up high like I did, (16’ ceiling) you’ll want another fan to push the hot air downwards more efficiently.

Overall very happy with my purchase.

I put this up in my shop and it works great! Could use a little more air movement but that could kick up dust in the shop also. Install was simple and straight forward. For the money compared to other brands great deal!.

It is eazy to put the feat on or wall mount. It warms the entire space well on low settings. The fan helps move warm throughout the area. The burner comes off and on at good temperature & the fan turns off & on by its self if you set the switch to do so.

It’s a great price. The burner cover hasn’t come in handy yet but I’m sure it will.

I bought this brand because the one I had quit working. I assumed this one was the same minus blower that the first one had. It only has 2 heat settings (lo and hi) where the other had 1 thru 4 plus would come on and off as temperature changed.

This new one works well and I like the fact that no battery was needed for striker but I sure was hoping it was more like my old Mr. Heater.

Works as described, heats the room very quickly, easy to set up. I do like that the thermastat is as stated and will turn off and on to regulate room temperature. Not pretty, but works well in our small cabin.

I am a building contractor in Northern Michigan and bought one for my garage, wanted to stop cutting wood for the outside boiler, bought one for the shop as well, not installed yet. The one in the garage was working well I thought, so I ordered two more for heat while under construction on our project.

Two weeks to the day, the one in the shop failed, no power to the mother board, but that next day, the to new ones arrived and I had to swap one of the new ones right away. The new one works half the time, I have to keep checking it but it come on if I turn it off and on again.

I have paint, lots of paint in the garage, so I can’t let it freeze. Long story short, have tried to call several times for help resolving the problem but the wait is much longer than I had time for, but expect to get through soon.

The heater would be a great heater, but there are some bugs that from other reviews, haven’t been addressed over a long period of time. Electronics and maybe a valve issue on the second one I installed in the garage.

Reliability is the name of the game, who has time to be playing with these type issues, especially with sub zero nights and single digit days! I’d spend a little more for the peace of mind.

Install is easy for this heater. Recommend a third person just to help depending on hanging setup. Two can fairly strong people can easily hang it. Fired up fine and heated a 14×30 space quickly and once walls and floor warmed up does not cycle as much.

Noise wise is not bad. Can modify a few things to help with that over time. Repair parts easy to find if needed even if not from the manufactor. No mods till warranty or if mods will help the unit above and beyond orginal design.

Bought a month ago. Had to drive 90miles to pick this thing up. I installed this all by myself. It wasn’t the easiest to do either. Yes definitely get help. But with that said it’s not a bad heater. I have a 4 car garage mostly full of crap and for 16 years every time I want to do something in the winter I couldn’t.

Should of put one in years and years ago. I haven’t vented it yet but haven’t seemed to bother me yet. I would definitely say get one!.

This is an Amazing heater. It heats up the room. However it does not shut off and on like other heaters, throughout its cycle. Because of that it just keeps going. I have never had such a high electric bill in my life.

It was over $400. I dont recommend this heater for that reason. I am sense going to order another brand. When I ordered this it was all that was available at the time. It is a good heater, but not for long term use, like heating a room all night, etc, only for short term use like for a couple of hours.

I have been using heaters to heat my home in the winter, but this one keeps my electric bill very high. The lastest bill came in for $231.

I have a heat pump window unit that provides heat for my music room. It takes more than an hour to get comfortable and in really cold weather blows cool. The King 4000w gets the temp right in less than 10 minutes.

My room is 500 sq ft. Makes a little noise because its moving a lot of warm air. I run it for less than an hour then let a 1000w heater keep the temp up. I highly recommend for garage, workroom, or small space.

Thermostat works perfect for me. Plugs into room AC 220v wall plug. Exterior does not get dangerously hot. Can be moved while working with included handle. Also included a wall or ceiling bracket.

Only giving this a 4 star review, but only because I can’t speak for the longevity of it. We have had it set up for a few weeks and it’s exactly what we were looking for in our garage. It’s nice just to keep the space above freezing in the winter.

Considering the size of this heater it does put out a sufficient amount of heat. That being said I can not recommend it. Unless the thermostat is turned up to the maximum setting the unit will continuously kick on and off never having time to heat the coil.

So it’s basically all or nothing.

I bought this for my garage based on the reviews and I’m really disappointed. I’m not sure if the unit is defective but it only blows warm air that I have to be standing right in front of it to feel.

It doesn’t matter what setting I have it on they all feel the same. It makes a clinking noise when I shut if off that sounds like something is hitting the fan which has me thinking it’s defective. I bought it 2 years ago and it sat on a shelf in my garage until I had it installed a few weeks ago so I’m not optimistic that it would be covered by warranty.

Sadly this heater does nothing for my garage. I am taking into consideration that my 2 car garage is detached and could be better insulated as it’s a pole barn however I wouldn’t think I would need to stand directly in front of this unit to feel any warmth from it.

I’ve left it run 6-8 hours and see little to no difference in the temperature on cold days. I’d like to contact the manufacturer as I have questions however I am unable to find a good number for them.

I purchased this heater to use in a 666 sq ft, 4-car, uninsulated, vaulted ceiling garage. Obviously this is meant to be used in a smaller, more insulated setting. I wanted to try just one first, and then add as necessary.

The heater itself seems to be well-built as far as structure, and designed well as far as installation and operation. Including running wiring and building a wall mount (vaulted ceiling so no ceiling studs), it took 2-3hrs to get up and running.

In my large uninsulated setting, over the course of 3-4hrs, it was able to raise the temperature from 25*F to 45*F, roughly speaking. In other words, from intolerable to tolerable. Which is about what I expected from it.

I think it would do quite well at maintaining a higher temperature if I were to use my propane ‘salamander’ to initially heat the space. Based on other’s reviews and my own experience, there seems to be a major quality control concern in the assembly line for these regarding the fan nut.

I was unaware of this until after it was installed, but I’m almost certain I have the same issue as almost everyone else. Before mounting the heater there was a nut and washer rattling around inside.

After a semi-thorough check, I figured it was an erroneous leftover. Having read the reviews and after hearing a small rattle when the heater runs, I will be dismounting and tearing it down to install that nut properly.

This is both an inconvenience and really a potential danger. For that I’ve removed a star from the rating. That being said, I will be purchasing another one, possibly two more. Can’t beat the price to performance ratio anywhere.

Heater is utilised to heat 24×24 garage attached with just buffalo board sheeting. No insulation between studs. Garage door is insulated double. Located in Minnesota we do have cold temps and winds. 20 to 40 below not unusual.

Researched heaters, was not interested in a infared electricity gulper. Found the King units with the radiant copper tubing. Read the negative comments, weighed what was said. Inspected a 7500 and a 5000 watt unit at a selling store.

Purchased a 7500 watt unit, brought it home installed unit on 30 amp breaker. Utilised unit last winter 5 months and almost 3 months this winter, no problems. Relay switches are loud when cycling, bracket for hanging unit could be stouter.

Adjusting front air deflectors on the crude side, bend deflectors to desired angle. Unit has been trouble free, fan moves air thru the summer. Operation cost has been very reasonable, credit this to purchasing a larger size than needed.

Garage holds 60 degrees thru the day in the winter easy. Hi/Lo relays noise when opening gets tiresome, very firm snapping sound.

I purchased the 12,000 watt model for my 1800 sq ft garage. I understand this unit is rated for 1200 sq ft but it will do what I purchased it for as to keep the area comfortable enough to work in. Dollar for dollar the convenience of not hauling lp gas and kerosene to heat this area is worth the cost of this unit.

Mounting the heater using the wall option is what I used although the ceiling mount is a good option. I like the ease of hanging the heater onto to mounting bracket. I’m sure the 2-stage helps with temp control and energy usage.

Cost more than others but King has a 5 yr warranty on their product. After weeks of research this what I bought and I am pleased. Arrived via Fed Ex with no damage.

Works great. Raises the temp 10-15 degrees within 15 mintues in a 20×26 shop with a 16ft peak. With in 3 hours it will the shop 25-30 degrees warmer than outside. Really like that it switches into eco mode(low volts/120)when it gets about 3 degrees from the set temperature.

Once the shop is warmed up I do not notice it needing to switch in Hi(high volts/240). Very easy and quick to mount and wire up. The built in fan blows very good. You can feel it over 20 feet away. The fan also stays on for about 2 min after its turned off to cool everything down.

Definitely recommend having a ceiling fan to blow the hot air down. #sweepstakes.

I bought this heater for the obvious reason to heat a garage. I originally purchased the 20K BTU dual fuel unit which was a disaster to get it to function. In fact, I could never get it to light other than the pilot light.

Called the company for troubleshooting and they insisted it was a problem with “MY” gas regulator. Manual did not indicate such a requirement, but I believe it was THEIR internal “regulator” since I could not get the gas to reach the main burner.

Frustrated, I just returned it. BTW, Dyna-Glo would not issue me a return slip confirmation, so do not look to them for help (or sympathy). OK, I got off topic, but consider it a warning for that model and Dyna-Glo service.

My current purchase was very straight forward and works just fine with just one caveat. I thought that a unit that has a thermostat heat control would cut off the gas when the proper room temperature was reached with just the pilot light remaining on.

In fact, the product features indicate that the thermostat heat control “the control automatically cycles the burner on and off to maintain a desired room temperature. See page 24. ” So I reference page 24.

NO MENTION. So unless I screwed up somewhere, the main burner stays on for the output I select. For this reason, I gave it 4 stars. I will contact Dyna-Glo service center, but with my previous interaction, I am not optimistic.

I like the fact that you can select how much BTU’s it will produce, so the unit is actually a better unit, because it encompasses the 20K BTU level I wanted with the additional benefit of having the ability to change the output starting from 15K to 30K maximum output.

Ironically, it was cheaper than the dual fuel 20K BTU I originally had.

I had a natural gas line inside the house and needed emergency heat for a coming winter storm in Georgia. I watched a couple installation videos on YouTube, and it was super easy to install. I did purchase the Mr.

Heater universal gas appliance hook up kit bc I’d read it had everything I’d need, and it did. However, I did purchase pipe joint compound to be safe as I read the yellow tape alone did not hold up over time from a couple of people.

I used the compound and the tape. My son and I were comfortable during the power outage (kept it around level 2 out of 5), and it really looks great! I’ve got it mounted to the wall. Super easy to ignite.

I highly recommend this heater.

I purchased this portable unit to heat my 650sq’ workshop in the upper level of my garage. The space is insulated and dry walled. The unit heats up the space in about 15 minutes and the thermostat feature maintains temperature beautifully.

There is a fan in the unit that is noticeable, but not a nuisance. Quiet music playing easily covers the fan sound. I had read the 6′ cord restricted some users, so I wired my receptacle about midway in one of the knee-walls.

Now I have many possibilities to position the unit, although any position heats the entire space evenly. Now, I am wiring a second outlet for the main garage floor, so I can move the unit there if I ever need some temporary heat down there,.

I use this heater to heat my 24′ X 24′ garage. It is a superb litter heater. When I opened the carton I was surprised to see how small the heater was and was a little concerned that it might have difficulty heating my oversized garage.

I couldn’t have been more pleased with its performance. Within 15 minutes this little heater raised the temperature of my garage from 40 degrees F to 60 degrees F. Now that I have been using it for a couple of months, I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Furthermore, I haven’t noticed any significant change in my electricity bills. I would highly recommend this little unit and would definitely purchase again.

I have a 20×20 steel shop with a roll-up single-car, uninsulated metal garage door on one side. The shop has 1-2 inches of sprayed foam for insulation on the walls and ceiling. I had been using a 1500w space heater to break the chill, which made very little difference in the comfort, even after running it for several hours.

Since I live in north Texas {Dallas), I don’t usually experience bitter cold, but a shop temperature in the upper 40’s is uncomfortable for me. This heater raised the temperature to a comfortable level in 5-10 minutes (low 60’s, maybe).

I started the dial thermostat at about midway in its rotation and then backed it off to about 1/3. It cycled off and on, mostly off after it had warmed the shop a bit. The noise sounds similar to the smaller space heater I had been using but greater by 2 or 3 times.

It’s not silent, but it’s not too loud in my opinion. It doesn’t take up much space. In fact, I would say it takes up less space than the smaller heater I had been using, but it puts out much more heat.

The coils do not glow like my smaller heater, but a heater looking like it’s heating and a heater that is actually heating are two different things. My smaller heater was an ornament, appearing to heat but not doing much.

This heater actually heats, and it moves a decent amount of air. The heat seemed pretty consistent throughout the shop. You will need the proper plugin. I have a plugin that I use for a stick welder.

It didn’t match, but I was able to find an adapter that allowed me to plug the heater into the welder plugin. Since I never weld with the doors closed for the heater, this will work well for me. I will store it away for the other seasons.

No mounting problem. Just set it on the floor, and plug it in. I think this was a very good value from Walmart. It was the best price I could find. It meets my needs very well.

Bought this heater to warm the garage during my group workout classes. I tried different electric infrared heaters but they all failed to even take the bite off the chilly early morning temps in the garage during the Fall and Winter in WA.

The Mr. Heater 18K BTU propane cabinet heater does a nice job of providing heat for our 3 car garage when it’s 45 degrees outside. The wheels on the unit make it very easy to move around and they can be locked so that the unit doesn’t accidentally get bumped or pushed into something or someone.

It uses a standard propane take like the “Blue Rhino” ones that can be switched out at a grocery store. So you don’t have to keep switching out the tank like the ones in the Mr. Buddy heaters. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the starter to ignite so that would be my only complaint.

Overall I am very happy with the unit and would highly recommend. I haven’t tried it when the temps drop below 40 degrees, but I feel like it will be able to sufficiently heat the garage so it’s not bitterly cold.

This is a great little unit. We had a storm and were out of power for over three days. We survived with but needed something for better heat. I found this one online and decided to give it a try. The weather was better when I got it and so I decided to try it my 30′ x 48′ with 10′ ceiling shop.

I was surprised as it brought the chill off in a very short time. Naturally this is not big enough to heat the whole shop but because you could roll it around, I just put it in the area I was working and it saved me having to run my big electric heat pump.

One night, We had a power outage for a couple of hours and it was right at freezing and I took it in the house and the room never got cool running the unit on the 6,000 BTU setting. They say not to use it in a house because of the propane bottle but for an emergency it will do a great job.

There was no smell and we love the looks. I would and have recommended it to several friends.

This was the 2nd Mr. Heater we purchased and did so because we loved the first one! Now we have two! This is a very efficient unit and heats an outside area nicely with no noise. We have had the expensive tower outside heaters in the past but like the Mr.

Heaters better. Very easy to move around and store. We love to be outside even in the winter playing games or just sitting on the porch and they are perfect. Recommended to a family member who has also purchased two and loves them.

Easily keeps my 1,000 sq ft. insulated garage more than comfortable for my 12 dogs. It was easy to dial in a comfortable heat level and it automatically shuts off once it gets there. Installed a hook in the 10 foot ceiling and hang the heater from a steel chain near the wall and plug.

Everything is up in the air so the dogs can’t get to it. The only negative was the plug, very uncommon so I simply replaced it with a more standard 220, 30 amp dryer type plug. Cost of plug was less than $10 and the heater has a three wire cord, white, black and green.

I then purchased and adapter, from a 220, 50 amp to the 220, 30 amp plug for $15 and use the welder outlet I had included in the garage during construction.

I have purchased 3 of those units. Two at Amazon and one here at BBB. hopping for different outcome. Unfortunately, all of them had the same problem. Built-in thermostat is not working properly. I had 60 degrees in my garage on lowest settings and heater was still working other time at freezing temperatures heater was not turning on.

Very frustrating. If I could, I would give zero stars for wasting resources to build something like that!.

When I received this heater the box was in perfect shape, no signs of damage, but when I opened it and pulled the heater out the fan was laying in the bottom not attached to the bracket inside. Pulled the cover off and screws totally missing, fan and inside of heater looked as if it had been running with the fan hitting inside of housing.

Screws not inside the heater nor in the box. Got the fan straightened out and bought screws from hardware store, remounted fan and turned the heater on. It started working and seemed to be okay. The heater coil is not suppose to turn red while it is running however on day 2 the coil is starting to turn red while heating so the coil is not going to last very long before it shorts out.

This was a waste of money, and a waste of time to work on it to get it running. If I had just wanted a fan I could have bought several fans from Walmart for what this cost.

When my 65000btu forced air furnace went out in my 32 x 60 x 12 insulated workshop, I temporarily installed my old backup radiant floor heater. The backup heater ran constantly at 15000btu’s, and was able to maintain 60 degrees even when it was 20 degrees outside.

I was surprised that the shop felt warmer at 60 degrees radiant vs 72 degrees forced air. My shop is always maintained at 55-60 degrees whether I’m in there working or not. I decided I’d buy and install the Mr.

Heater 40,000btu and supplement heat if necessary with my forced air after I fixed it. I doubt the radiant 40,000 btu will maintain 70 degrees during below zero days, but maybe. Others commented that the Mr.

Heater pilot light is noisy. It is, but it’s not bad at all especially compared to the blowers on my forced air furnace. It burns pretty clean, but there is a bit of an odor in the air if you aren’t in and out of the shop for few days, and you don’t even notice the smell 10 minutes after you are in the shop.

I do crack a window open. I did not hear any negative comments about moisture. The humidity is up to 90% in my shop, not good for my mills, lathes, etc. I will have to install a dehumidifier. When I open the garage doors, I am rained on by the water dripping from the door cracks.

I’ve contacted Mr. Heater asking if I can hook it up to my honeywell wifi stat. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work, but they won’t reply. So, the light odor and moisture drop it one star. I also can’t seem to adjust the pilot flame no matter how many turns in or out I do with the adjusting screw.

Overall, I really like the heater and my shop is more peaceful and comfortable. I would have liked to have bought two 25000btu heaters, but couldn’t afford two vs one and planned on using my forced air so it was a nice compromise.

We have installed this heater in a dairy barn and its always great not worrying about any electrical power outages in the winter. Light the pilot and good to go! Maintains great heat output which is a must with constant opening and shutting of the outside doors.

house furnance. Lot less expensive than electric heat. It is not vented but natural gas burns so clean you don’t need to worry about carbon monoxide but we have a sensor just in case.

Has excellent features not included in other cheaper brands. Easy to wire up. The only criticism I could make is that the contactor makes a loud click when called for heat. Would be excellent choice for a warehouse or metal / woodworking shop.

The click might be a concern if used in an office etc. Has a nice finish that will stand up against moisture or a moderately harsh environment. Its a good value for the buck.

Does everything advertised. Easy to install but be aware it only takes 3wire leads from power source of 240v. One for each 120v tap plus neutral/ground. I set up wiring initially for 3 plus ground but after calling the factory I discovered that money could have been saved by running wires as first mentioned.

This is one great heater, and I checked many sources online. I suggest you do the same. Prices for the same exact unit vary tremendously!.

I bought this heater to heat my newly built 3 car garage. I needed a warmer temperature to work in to finish wood projects. It heats the whole garage and you never have to worry about changing tanks like some heaters.

Mounts on the ceiling out of the way. I would definately buy again and recommend to others.

I have been using this product for 2 months now. The thermostate maintais a constant temperature, turns the unit on and off as described. Only issue is the spring valve makes a loud bang when the spring resets, otherwise it has been a perfect unit.

Uses a 20lbs bottle every 2 days in -18C weather to keep a 900 square foot area heated to 22C.

Works fantastic!! It is identical to my old one. So, I took the fan kit off of it and installed it in the new one. If you don’t use the fan kit or some other fan you will leave a brown heat mark on your wall and ceiling where the heat goes straight up.

NEED DOME KIND OF ADAPTER TO STANDARD FLEX LINE. THERE IS NO FINE THREAD MALE FEMALE BRASS. AT LEAST MY PURCHASE DID NOT HAVE ONE, & I CAN NOT FIND ONE. I AM STILL LOOKING.

I just installed this unit and it heats up my two car garage very quickly and does not cycle on and off frequently once you get your garage to the temperature you want to maintain it. I am very happy with this heater but there is a known issue.

For those that have the CZ230ER heater that comes with a remote there is an issue with the unit displaying the incorrect room temperature. As a result the unit shuts off way before reaching the temperature set on the unit.

For my heater when setting the temperature to 85 F the heater temperature display will increase to 85 F and shut off as it should but the room temperature would only be 65 F. Once the fan motor shut off the temperature displayed on the unit will continue to increase to 91 F or higher.

There are two temperature sensor wires on the unit. one is located by the back grill and one is located further inside the unit closer to the heating element. You can easily get to them if you remove the grill.

Because the heater was reporting the room temperature to be 20 degrees higher and would increase when the fan motor turned off I knew the temperature sensor was mounted too close to the heating elements.

For testing purposes I removed a small cover holding the temperature probe and pulled the probe back thru the opening to the bottom of unit where the control board is and just let it hang there. It hung down about a foot below the unit far enough away from the heating element.

I turned the heater back on and the temperature displayed on the heater was exactly the room temperature. Now the heater heats the entire garage to the exact temperature. Also the heater cycles on and off much less now that the temperature probe is not experiencing excessive temperature fluctuations.

I call the customer service number in the manual to speak to someone about my observations. A very nice lady confirmed this was a known issue for this model number heating unit. I think she stated both temperature sensors were swapped around incorrectly.

She said I would need to send the unit back to get a refund and purchase the CZ220E unit without the remote. The company is not repairing this issue. I did see pictures on the internet of someone else’s unit that showed the connections of the two temperature probes swapped on the control board when comparing it to my unit.

I will swap the connections tonight and remount the temperature probes and see if that solves the issue.

I received this as a Christmas present, and finally found a few hours to hook it up. The timing was perfect, because it was below zero last night, and never got above 15 degrees (Fahrenheit) today. The verdict.

I’m a happy camper. I was a bit skeptical to put this little electric heater in my big, finished/insulated three-car garage (23′ x 28′. with 9′ ceilings – 644 sq. ft. / 5,796 cubic feet), but based on the reviews and the price, I figured it was worth the risk.

To my surprise, this little heater works quite well. It brought the temperature up from right around 32, to 50 in about an hour. I let it run for another hour or so, and the temperature got up to about 65 (tested on a separate, stand-alone digital thermometer.

As far as the install, I ended up spending about $70 on wire (30 feet of 8 gauge), conduit, and supplies (plus the price of a 12 pack for my electrician neighbor who wired it into the panel), so I’d say I am at about $200 all-in.

As far as time. probably two hours total. As far as the heater’s performance. it’s perfect. It’s not very loud when it’s running, and it doesn’t take up much space. It puts off a surprising amount of heat that you can feel the fan from about 10 feet away.

The thermostat display seems to be off a little, and it makes a pretty loud “thunk” when it kicks on and off (sounds like the internal breakers opening and closing), but in all honesty. I have no complaints.

Is it as good as the propane “Hot Dawg” heaters that my dad has in his shop? No. it’s not (we work in t-shirts in his shop). However, this was much cheaper, and much easier to install. Given that I am not working out in my garage every day, and given that I didn’t have to drop $1,000.

and run a gas line. and cut an exhaust vent through my wall. etc. I’d say it’s a good compromise. Bottom line. good for taking the nip out of the air for us “weekend warriors”.

I installed my Comfort Zone 7500 watt heater in my 800 sq ft garage. The installation was fairly simple if you follow the instructions. The good news is that the heater fully heats this large space with no problem.

I have been able to use the lower wattage setting and fully heat the space. The only complaint I have has been made by others that the thermostat in the heater is not accurate. As the unit heats up it reads a temperature higher than the surrounding air temperature and shuts off.

This requires setting the temperature somewhat higher than the actual desired temperature. I need to set the temperature to at least 80deg F to reach a room temperature of 68deg F. Some people have moved the units temperature sensor outside the case to get a more accurate reading, however, I have not done this as yet.

Overall this is a great unit and I highly recommend it for garage or shop installations. Also, the remote control makes the unit very easy to operate from a distance. Great addition to my garage work space.

Very good heater. Set this 10,000 heater at 52deg F, outside temp at 27-40 during the day. Uses about 10-12 kWh per day so around $2-3 dollars a day at DTE Michigan electric rates. Quiet but has ample fan cfm to circulate air.

My are is around 700 ft2 and keeps it at set point. Recommend.

I ordered this heater and mounted it on the wall in my shop. I understood its limitations (1500w) so did not have unreasonable expectations. It raises the temp in my 1400sf open shop about 5 degrees when it is in the 30 outside.

It is not too loud, looks very nice, works great and am considering another for a mountain cabin. I would recommend, if this is what you are looking for.

Replaced the Mr. Heater Blue Flame 30,000 BTU Heater, with this unit. This unit seems to be more efficient at distributing the heat than the Blue Flame was. Had electric heaters running all through the house and was still cold.

Within minutes of getting this unit installed and operating, the house is warm. Am very happy with this heater and intend to get another one to have on hand to replace this one when it becomes non-functional.

Great propane heater. If you are using 20 or 40lb cylinders, you’ll need the Mr. Heater F273684 Vent Free Accessories kit along with some gas rated Teflon tape (yellow).
