There are a few different types of heaters that people use for van life, depending on their needs and preferences. Some people use electric space heaters, while others use propane-powered heaters. Some people even use wood-burning stoves to heat their vans.
Electric space heaters are a popular choice for van lifers because they are relatively inexpensive and easy to use. However, they can be a fire hazard if not used properly, so it is important to make sure that your space heater is properly ventilated.
Propane-powered heaters are another popular choice for van lifers. They are more expensive than electric space heaters, but they are also more powerful and can heat a larger space. Propane-powered heaters also require ventilation, so it is important to make sure that your van is properly ventilated before using one.
Wood-burning stoves are another option for van lifers who want to be able to heat their vans. These stoves are more expensive than electric space heaters and propane-powered heaters, but they are also more environmentally friendly.
Wood-burning stoves also require ventilation, so it is important to make sure that your van is properly ventilated before using one.

This heater is amazing! From camping in a teepee at 7,500 feet in the foothills of Colorado, elk hunting at 10,400 feet on Grand Mesa with lows of 14’ in a 4 season tent, 12 inch snows along the Blue River to heating the living room when the heat pump is struggling in super low temps, this is one dynamite heater!! It will burn nearly all night on low, keeping the chill out of my guide tent.
Great for warmer nights (30’) and cool mornings, just reaching over and switching it on; 2 minutes on high and your teepee is a sweat tent!! For longer runs, a 15 lb tank and hose relives the burden of changing 1 pounders out in the early morning.
(One bit of advice, use a hose with a regulator and put the tank outside. ) My unit does work at at least 10,400 feet, despite the literature, but it is a little finicky (don’t move it around or bump it once it’s lit; keep it level and it may take a few times to light).
Despite all of the built in safety features, I do keep a CO sensor at head height when at extreme altitude, for safety’s sake. To Big Buddies engineers, the CO sensor has never gone off, even when using in my 10 x 10 four season guide tent with snow shoveled around the overhanging fly.
I do ensure there is some small amount of ventilation through door and stove jack vent. Inside the house, it works like a normal propane heater. It’s great! Mine has a blower that works a long time on 4 D-Cells.
It’s great eat for the house or barn, and comes in handy in a teepee without a floor. It’s not necessary in my 10 x 10. This is an extremely versatile and easy to use heater! All the best!.
I bought this from TSC and they delivered the next day! (Thank you!). I have the Buddy Flex, and bought this as my second Big Buddy for the following reasons. The Big Buddy use 2-1lb tanks or quick coupler and is more flexible for outdoor and winter power off situations.
In low, they should operate around 10 hours on 2 – 1lb tanks). With the high setting you can expect < 3 hours, and it puts out a lot of heat. I prefer the more directional nature of the of the Big Buddy and longer fuel burn time over the Buddy Flex.
The fan (yes, this has one), while always could be bigger, better, and more quiet, does really make a difference indoors. Ended up putting a thermo-electric fan on mine just to see how it would work.
Very quiet, and “could be bigger, better,” but does a fine job and silent. To condense this, both the Heater Buddy and the Big Heater Buddy are great products. If you use the low and medium settings this is the output of the smaller Heater Buddy (with double the time).
If you use the high setting, the Big Buddy puts out the same heat as 2 heater buddies. For me, I tend to like to have some margin for really cold weather. The only negative is my wife wanted the Red One.
Mr. Heater stopped installing fans in these. So while she did not like the green color so much, the heat output and function of the unit have won her over.
The patent-pending Dyna-Glo HeatAround 360 Elite is the only portable recreational heater that provides 360 degrees of warmth. It’s compact, versatile 360 design makes it the ideal choice for grab and go heat.
The heater works as described. The area coverage is nowhere near the 450 sq feet as advertised, especially in spaces like screened porch. Compared to other heaters, that heat in only one direction, this has a 360 degree coverage.
Lighting up etc. is easy enough. Good for people around a table.
I wanted to buy the heater but had a couple questions. One was how it would operate at 9000ft. I called support and they told me it should work as it can work at 7000 ft. They only read part of what the manual says.
The manual says it might go out at 7000 ft and may not relight. I then wrote a question to their support hoping to get more tech advise. They sent back a note saying they do not recommend it above 4500 ft.
Confusing information. Very poor support. Was looking forward to using the heater, but now I get to return it to the retailer.
Purchased to use in multiple locations. Maiden flight was outdoors on very windy and rainy night (under canopy). It blew out a couple of times when the wind gusted over 15 or 20 mph (10 mph gust caused it pop and perk for a second but it remained lit).
Kept 6 people reasonably comfortable at a very wet 38 degrees. Can’t wait to try it out in a wall tent!.

I ordered this through Sam’s club on Friday morning and it arrived on Tuesday. Excellent!!! I ordered this to heat up my home that is being remodeled at the drywall stage and didn’t want to run all that dust through my new furnace.
I fired it up and in about ten minutes an area of about 1500 sq ft (insulated) was to warm to work in. The outside temps are in the low 60’s as reference. This heats an area up much faster than the kerosene heater my dry wall guy was using and without the odor or hassle of buying kerosene.
I anticipated the thermostat would very wildly but it seems to work very consistently. As a rule these types of heaters can’t be used and work in the area while it is running unless you have adequate ventilation.
The noise level is about the same as a kerosene or propane heater of the same type. This heater exceeded my expectations and would highly recommend it.
I use the heater in a 6,400 sq. feet pole building. It burns cleanly and puts out a tremendous amount of heat. It is relatively quiet compared to other space heaters that I have used. It is easy to carry as it is not heavy.
For use with propane gas. Heavy-duty design built for the job site. QBT technology – 50% quieter than a standard propane heater. Comes with a standard 10 Ft. hose and regulator. Equipped with factory installed high limit switches and thermoelectric safety valves.
Piezo ignition. High Limit Safety Shut-off. Plug heater into a 110V outlet, hook up the hose and regulator to a 20 Lb. propane tank or larger. Cylinders sold separately. Check state and local codes for permitted uses.
This Mr. Heater MH60QFAV Portable Outdoor 60,000 BTU Forced Air Propane is a nice little unit and I purchased this because it touted being quiet as compared to earlier versions. Unfortunately it was not as quiet as I had hoped.
I tried to get information as to how loud the blower was but did not receive an answer. The quiet part appears to be from the ignitor not constantly going off as the cheaper models do which can be a bit annoying.
So here is the definitive answer as to how loud this unit is. I used an app on my phone to measure the decibels this unit outputs so I do not know how accurate it is. The reading was 70 decibels near the unit and 65 decibels approx.
6-10 ft away. The noise is not outrageous as the 70 level indicates a conversation loudness although it is quite obvious during conversations. It was the same level as the older and cheaper models. I am surprised that Mr.
Heater does not re-design the fan to be quieter as the technology exists. The fuel consumption seemed high but I was not able to confirm the actual usage. Overall if I was not looking for a outdoor group heater I would keep this unit but it does not fit my needs at this time.
This is a fantastic little heater. I have a 24×24, non-insulated garage. This heater puts out more than enough heat to get through the north east winter comfortably. The supplied hose DOES FIT STANDARD PROPANE TANKS!! It’s reverse thread so turn it to the left to tighten it into the tank.
Turn the gas on and wait about 20 seconds before starting the heater. If the heater is started before pressure builds, you will get a small flame and cool output. When started properly this heater pumps extremely hot air with great force when set to high.
It has fantastic output even on low for those fair weather winter days. Compared to larger kerosine torpedo heaters, this thing is whisper quiet with very low fumes. I highly recommend it!.
Love this thing! I bought this to work on finishing my attached garage. I live in the northeast and it’s the middle of winter. I have a small propane tank (like for a grill) hooked up and man this thing makes the space hot! I only keep it running for 9 or 10 minutes because the space just gets too hot to work.
And I haven’t ever put it any higher than the lowest setting. For reference, the garage is a little over 500 square feet with a 10ft ceiling. It does what it’s supposed to do and it does it well. Totally worth the money.
Safely heat up your garage, basement and more with this handy Mr. Permanently mount it to a wall, or bolt it to the floor using the included mounting brackets and fasteners. Its blue flame tube burner naturally circulates heat around any room up to 1,000 square feet using the flames’ natural convection without having to use an additional fan.
And like all Mr. Heater products, a factory-standard oxygen-depletion sensor and high-limit shutoff ensure safe operation indoors or out. BTU Rating: 30,000; Variable Output: No; Heating Area: 1,000 sq.
ft. ; Fuel: Propane; Min. Tank Size: 20#; Certified: Yes; Low Oxygen Shut-off Switch: Yes; Legs Included: Yes; Wall Mount Hardware Included: Yes; Ignition: Electronic; Thermostat: Yes; Measures: 27″l.
x 11. 25″w. x 26. 5″h. ; Weight: 32 lbs. ; Mfg. Number: F299742 NOTE: Propane tank and connecting hose are not included.
This makes a great shop or garage heater, really like the built in safety features. Well made and a great value for the price! Puts out plenty of heat, no disappointments.
This Portable Propane Construction Heater has a rugged construction with an adjustable heat angle. It’s a thermally protected motor for long life and instant heat – so no startup time needed. This rugged construction heater is engineered for dependability and has a push button matchless ignition for an easy start.
I bought this to replace a similar model from another company. The unit looks good and is smaller in size than I was expecting. This is not a bad thing as the heat output is substancial for the small footprint.
The thing that really drags this unit down is the way the unit is powered on and off. There is no switch, and you must plug or unplug the unit physically to turn off the unit. That is sorta weird, especially when it may live under a shop table or bench and previously I just slid the unit out and flicked a power switch to energize the fan, ignitor, and gas flow.
The process now is you have to attach an extension cord directly to the small pigtail plug on the back of the unit. Not going to happen over the long haul. I don’t really like products that I have to rewire or put an inline switch into just to have some convenience.
This looks like a great American product, but it’s shortcomings would keep me from recommending it.
I use this to heat my 1000 square foot shop. There is a noticeable difference within 20 mins or so, and after a couple hours the it’s getting warm. My shop isn’t insulated, and has a high ceiling, so I’m impressed with it’s performance so far.
(have about 15 hours of use on it). The ignition system doesn’t always ignite the flame right away, but I won’t let that effect my rating, because I have yet to own/use something with an ignition system that works perfect every time.
Very Very disapointed. Bought it in the summer 3 years ago. When winter came. Tried it in my garage. Will not light. Have to manually start it. Using a fire stick. Even in warm weather. Will start then shut off immediately.
Once started. It works well. Flame therfore heat gas consuption can be varied. Still use it. But if the RETURN period had not ended. Would have pressed. The RETURN BUTTON. The inconvenience. Of having to buy another one at HD.
Made in China. Till I figured out a way to safely start the flame on this USA Unit. ANGERED me. Shame. A chinese copy is better than the USA made. Name ought to be. ProCon.
Stay comfortable this winter with a little help from the Vornado Whole Room Heater. It will provide your home with a touch of warmth that you can enjoy anytime. This compact Vornado vh10 vortex heater helps keep your heating bill low, letting you warm a single room instead of the entire home.
The Vornado Vortex technology keeps the air circulating so that the whole room (up to 256 square feet) is covered, rather than the area immediately in front of the heater. An adjustable thermostat lets you choose the temperature.
The unit comes equipped with tip-over, automatic shut-off protection. This portable room heater is simple to install so you can begin warming up your space right away.
Let’s start with the basics: The Vornado TAVH10is a compact, adjustable, air circulating whole room heater with remote control and touch sensitive LED display control panel located on the top. The operating instructions are easy to understand.
The My highly positive opinion of the Vornado TAVH10 started to form as I removed the heater from its box. Printed on the inner box flap is the message: “we expect this product to be PERFECT – if it’s not WE will make it right.
” I appreciate companies which stand behind their products and value quality and customer satisfaction. The heater has a 5 year SATISFACTION Guarantee! I placed the heater in the living room (800 sq.
ft. ) and set the temperature to 76 degrees, which it achieved within 15 minutes and maintained without a hitch. I did not need to increase the television volume to compete with operating noises. I really like the fact that the heater circulates the air; yet, there was no noticeable ‘air drafts’ which could blow/move dust and papers around.
The outside of the heater remained cool to the touch during operation, so I had no concern about my dogs burning themselves if they came into accidental contact with it. The heater sits very stable on the floor with zero tipping over tendency, even when bumped.
The safety mechanism (located on the heater’s underside) is a pressure-activated switch which is depressed when the heater is set down on the floor. Lifting the heater immediately activates the auto-off safety feature.
The Vornado is by far superior to any ceramic, element or oil heater I have owned. My only criticism is that the control panel is very sensitive and there is no panel lock. I highly recommend the Vornado and would not hesitate to buy a second one!.
Living in the Midwest, the winter’s can be very harsh. As a homeowner for the last two decades, it’s important to have a quality space heater for the various rooms in and around the house that don’t eat away at our budget.
After the using the Vornado TAVH10 for several nights with below freezing temperatures outside, this little heater is by far the best one that I’ve used. At first glance, the TAVH10 is very stylish. The touchscreen controls are easy to use and the digital readouts are easy on the eyes.
The first evening of use I had it in the sunroom, which has several windows and the insulation is not as thick as the rest of the house. It didn’t take long for the TAVH10 to warm the room to the desired temperature and keep it that way all night.
Another plus is that whisper quiet, you never know when it’s running or not. The next night I tried the TAVH10 in our bedroom, which is much larger than the sunroom with a 12-foot ceiling. Once again, it didn’t take long to get our bedroom to a comfortable temp.
The remote is also a handy feature, so you can keep it on your nightstand without having to get out of bed to change the controls. While the TAVH10 is lightweight, compact and portable, if there problem I have encountered — albeit small — it’s not the easiest to wrap the electric cord inside the bottom of the base for storage.
Since the top of the heater isn’t flat, you have to rest it on something soft like on the bed or on your lap. Then you have to balance the heater in one hand while wrapping the cord with the other. All in all, the pros definitely outweigh the one small con, and this is the best heater I’ve ever used.
This winter I’ll be plenty warm while leaving plenty of green in my pocket.

Seemed to be a great product. Works great when it worked. However, one of the burner broke for a reason that I am not sure if. It never was hit, dropped, or misused in any manner. Literally sat in the corner with nothing around it.
My only other concern with the product, it that I wish the mechanics had been a little more durable and rigid. All that being said, it was probably a fluke that the heater messed up. I have experience with these before and like it.
I might be a little gun shy, but I would purchase one of these again. Ps. : I gave it two stars partially because it also messed up my favorite jacket trying to turn it off when it messed up.
Pro’s~~puts out a lot of heat fast. I haven’t used it enough to rate its fuel consumption efficiency. Propane here is around three bucks a gallon. Easy assembly to get it working. con’s~~I don’t know if this is a con, but their are wires and tubing exposed right next to the heat pans and it just seems like they could be in conduit or something.
These are visible in the pictures shown. Maybe perfectly safe, just look iffy.
I have one other Mr. Heater product and it works fine so I purchased this unit. The unit goes out constantly whenever a slight breeze is blowing. It is extremely frustrating having to constantly be watching the outages.
I contacted customer service at Mr. Heater to explain the issue and got only one argument after another. The representative was more interested in arguing semantics like wind vs. breeze rather than addressing the issue at hand.
I was totally frustrated and am totally dissatisfied with this product. I would absolutely NOT recommend this product to anyone who is planning on using it outdoors for any reason. This is an ongoing issue as I have since read several reviews from others who have the same problem with this product.
I have disconnected the unit and it is in my shed where it will probably stay until I can find someone who is willing to give me a couple of bucks for it.

I’ve used this product for hunting in my deer blind and it worked exceptionally well. Last year we had a storm that knocked out power for several days during very cold weather and it was our source of heat.
We were very fortunate to have this little heater. Because of that we bought another one this year and stocked up on the propane canisters. We also bought a long hose with an adapter for the heater to the 20 pound tanks but the small tanks do last several hours.
As a safety precaution we always keep a carbon monoxide detector in our home and this is especially important when using this heater in your home. It does have an open flame so care must be taken to ensure there is no fire hazard.
Don’t judge it by its small stature, the Mr. Heater Portable Propane Convection Heater kicks out an outstanding 25k BTUs per hour, heating an area of up to 625 sq. ft. Perfect for your job site or your next remodeling project.
This heater uses the natural act of warm air rising to heat your desired area. Simply hook the heater up to included hose and regulator and hook it up to a 20 lb. propane tank. Then use the Piezo igniter and enjoy the warmth.
With the termo-electric safety valve, you’ll never have to worry about gas continuing to flow after the flame goes out. This heater automatically shuts off the gas flow the moment the flame goes out.
Keeping you safe and secured. This heater delivers the heat you expect from Mr. Heater, and so much more. 25,000 BTU per hour For use with propane gas Heats up to 625 sq. ft. Operates up to 17 hours on a 20-lb.
propane tank (not included) Standing pilot for increased safety No electricity required Quiet and odorless Clean burning Dimensions 13 inch x 13 inchw. Weighs 3 lbs.
Good value outdoor heater using propane tank, same type for your BBq. Set up outdoor patio in 50-59 degrees Fahrenheit outdoor temp, on low setting, two people can sit 6 feet apart and stay warm but not farther than that.
There is no downward deflection so a tabletop height is not its best position. It worked well at ground level. If you set the heater at a higher output setting, it sounds like a waterfall. So try talking near a waterfall.
Produces a lot of heat for it’s size. Works well with 20 lb. propane tank. Hose and regulator included. No assembly required other than connect one end of hose to heater and regulator end to tank and ready to go.
small, lightweight, requires little area to operate, VERY easy to transport! Throws a LOT of heat for such a small unit. It could easily be used for cooking but I wouldn’t set an 40 pound chili pot on it! It’s NOT that strongly built? EASY to start.
I like the flame volume stop feature (lowest setting) and the built in piezo ignition! The ONLY con is the heat doesn’t radiate OUT away from the unit too much. It mostly goes up but if you had a low ceiling (NOT an open warehouse), would heat a small house, building, large tent etc.
I would pay more for them but I knew Gary would be sending out a special so I waited till midwinter for a ginormous coupon sale. I paid $40 plus some cents each for two. And the FREE shipping? STEAL of a DEAL!!! I rated it 4 stars only becaseu it’s thin sheet metal in construction, but that DOES keep it light in weight.
Big heat right out of the box. The Mr. Heater 200,000 Btu liquid propane convection heater packs a big punch in a small package. The MH200CVX utilizes the natural act of warm air rising to quickly heat up to 5000 sq-ft.
Equipped with a thermo-electric safety valve to shut the gas flow off if the flame ever goes out. Just hook-up the supplied 10 ft propane hose and regulator assembly to a 20 lb propane tank, then easily light the heater utilizing the factory installed Piezo igniter and enjoy the comforts of a toasty warm jobsite with the MH200CVX.
Runs up to 29 hrs on a 100 lb tank on low. Runs up to 29 hrs on a 100 lb tank on low. Piezo push-button igniter. Instant locking chamber for easy assembly.
This heater is to be used as a casual heater for our deck. It’s less bulky and way less expensive than the typical deck/patio heaters available today. Because it’s a high BTU output maxing out at 200,000 BTU my preference is occasional use on an open deck environment.
Running off a 30 lb propane tank the setup is completely portable. Tested it this morning @ 25 degrees and it started on first ignition. I let it run for about 15 minutes and with no walls, just an open deck, sitting a few feet away was like sitting around a camp fire.
I purchased a third party weather proof cover for heater as well as one for the tank since both will be stored outside this winter. So far so good. those 30 to 50 degree nights should be interesting.
The 30 lb tank weighs 56 pounds full and the heater is probably around ten +/-.
This little heater quietly pumps out the BTU to heat my 700 square foot, uninsulated SC shop. It doesn’t seem to burn much fuel either. I have had it running for a couple of longish days now on a 100 lb tank and I still have fuel.
This is very quiet and works just great. I highly recommend it over the jet engine type heaters which heat more but are very noisy.
This one can put out some serious heat! I did have one issue, and after some research found the answer. The pilot would light fine, but the main burner would not engage (or would engage and then flame out).
If you turn the propane (at the bottle) on slowly. like really slow, the issue has gone away. Also, its recommended to use the big 100lb tank. I had some issues with smaller 5 gallon tanks freezing up.
Take along the warmth and reliability of propane heat no matter where you go and even on the coldest of days with the Mr. This heater hooks up to a standard propane tank and puts out between 10,000 and 30,000 BTU of heat for warmth at the tailgate, on the patio, in the garage, in the duck blind, or on the lake.
It features a high medium low regulator, 2 tip over safety shutoffs, spark ignition, and 2 reliable burners for maximum heat distribution. Heat things up this winter wherever you go with the power of the Mr.
I like having two cylinders instead of one in My Big Buddy Heater… also that you can hook up a 20 lb propane tank…. I use it to heat up my work area when it’s cold outside
Exactly what I ordered. Good quality, works well, all parts fit, it fired right up, all in all a good product that puts out a lot of heat. I would buy it again.

I purchased this heater in lieu of getting an EdenPure, because of its pricing. The little fellow puts out good heat and looks very nice in my living room, My remote control works great, even 20 feet away , or so.
My main beef which has been mentioned before by others is that I do not think the thermometer in the heater is properly calibrated. When I place the unit in Eco mode (which is supposed to try to keep the room as close as possible to 68 degrees, and is the most efficient setting) I too complain that I have walked into the room when the air temperature on a wall thermometer was 55 degrees Farenheit (and felt like it), and the heater is sitting on the floor, not running.
By the way, the floor is several degrees colder than up on the wall. The heater works best when in high, or low mode, with the temperature set by user. I think the Eco setting is almost useless as advertised.
So how could I recommend? Because otherwise the heater seems to do fine, and really it costs next to nothing compared to an EdenPuke ( my parents have one which is such a disappointment). C’mon guys, fix this little glitch and give me one with the fix that works because I described your product so honestly.
Love this heater for several reasons! I read several reviews and consumer reports before choosing this heater. We are in a older home that does not have a furnace so we had to decide on the best means of heating the house for the winter.
We decided on infrared and chose this model. Things I like about it: Small and portable – it is a perfect size and can easily be rolled around wherever you want it. Temp settings – I love that it shuts on and off as needed, and also that it tells you what the room temp is in addition to the temp setting you put it on.
Powerful – with our situation we were a little nervous about relying on these heaters, but they have been more than sufficient!! We are toasty warm in every room, and we’ve even turned some off since they are very efficient! Safety – this was a big thing for me with two children.
These are never hot to touch and I love the overheat/tip-over shut-off feature. In addition, they are attractive looking, and for the price I got I couldn’t be happier. Definitely recommend this, whether it supplements your existing heat source or replaces it completely.
This heater is light, attractive, and works great. It was smaller than I expected. I heat with propane and last year was a nightmare with prices spiking over $5 per gallon, so I wanted an auxiliary heater that was cool to the touch (I have two small dogs) and reasonably efficient.
This heater would be perfect for a back bedroom, bathroom or office. It may not be sufficient for a large living/dining/kitchen open concept or a house with high ceilings. Overall, however, for what it is, a “space” heater, it works very well and is simple to use.
What I find interesting: I have it in an open-space living area where the house’s thermostat is located. When the Lifesmart heater is on, it heats the immediate area (our TV viewing spaces) well, but in the process keeps the thermostat from turning on the whole-house forced-air system.
Therefore, the back bedrooms get chilly from lack of heat. Propane is saved and that was the goal. Blankets keep sleeping toasty.
This Lifesmart Heater is a powerful but compact infrared heater designed to heat a room of up to 800 square feet. Also featured on this unit are three energy saving power settings, a count up/down timer, and a large remote control.
Ideal for an office, bedroom or living room, this heater provides supplemental heat wherever you need it most. The easy-to-read LCD panel on the front lets you see the temperature, speed and other settings at a glance, and the buttons beneath the screen allow you to cycle through the heater’s functions efficiently.
Compact black fireproof cabinet with molded handles. Features 3 exclusive infrared quartz elements, metal wrapped so each element acts as its own heat exchanger, producing more heat output. 38 percent more efficient than forced air electric, 66 percent more efficient than propane, and 45 percent more efficient than electric baseboard.
Infrared heater only uses up to 1500 watts, no more than a common hair dryer. Dimensions: 12. 8 inches high x 7. 5 inches wide x 12. 4 inches long. Weighs 12 pounds.
I bought this infrared heater to try out new technology. The heater is quite a neat little 1k heater. To use the heater in the uk you need a step up transformer. This will amend the voltage from the american system to 240volts.
Unfortunately the transformer is much larger than the heater and also more expensive. Hence the point of buying the heater was lost. I never used the heater or returned it as the cost of returning it was higher than the cost of the heater.
Perhaps in the future we will use this technology, but in the meantime DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE FOR USE IN THE UK.
Nice spot heater for exceptionally cold days here in New England. Well-designed and manufactured. Requires no maintenance. Easy to use remote or front panel controls. Less conspicuous, smaller case than clunky wood-covered heaters, but same performance.
Heavy duty industrial gauge cord barely gets warm, while cords on cheaper heaters get uncomfortably hot, even melting. Not the quietest heater, but unit pushes a lot of warm air around. This heater would be great for quickly taking the chill out of a bathroom.
I bought this to heat a good sized bedroom. I had an edenpure which worked good but only lasted 2 years. This unit heats my bedroom to 70 no problem. The fan is slightly loud but tolerable. The buttons make a loud beep when pressed so not great if u want to change temp in the middle of the night when the wife is sleeping.
It has made little effect on the electric bill. I can’t speak to how long it will last bc we have only had it around 3 months but for its compact size it works great and a quarter of the price of the Eden pure.
North America’s Most Popular Portable Propane Heater! This patented radiant 4,000-9,000 BTU Liquid Propane heater connects directly to a 1 lb. cylinder and is the perfect solution for heating enclosed spaces like large tents up to 225 sq.
ft. The expertly engineered size to BTU ratio is augmented with a fold down handle to give this heater maximum output while retaining a minimalistic footprint. A swivel regulator gives you the ability to adapt usage from a disposable cylinder to a remote gas supply with the purchase of a hose and filter.
To light the unit, simply rotate the knob to pilot and push. Then the integrated Piezo sparking mechanism will take care of the rest. With the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) and accidental tip-over safety shut-off you can be sure that you will enjoy years of comfortable indoor safe heat.
COLD WEATHER OPERATION: • Cold weather is generally defined as ambient temperatures below 32 degrees F. • 1 lb. propane cylinders have difficulty producing sufficient gas at lower temperatures and can “freeze-up”, reducing the time of operation by as much as 50-70%.
For this reason, it is recommended to use only 20 lb. propane tanks under these conditions. • If a 1 lb. tank is used in cold weather, such as in an ice fishing hut, following are some operating suggestions; 1.
Expect operating times to be significantly reduced. 2. Never use only a single 1 lb. tank. 3. Never set the heater directly on the ice. Set the heater on a rigid piece of flame retardant insulation and make sure the ventilation slots on the heater are not obstructed.
4. Elevate the heater slightly above the ground level. Insure the unit is level and secure and cannot be knocked over.
This is a great heater, I bring it everywhere, carries like a purse. Recently used it for an outdoor concert and 8 of us ladies were toasty the entire event, place two of them under our table and heat was amazing.
We dressed warmly, but wouldn’t have been comfortable at all in Chicago cold without the heaters on. It takes seconds to operate, lightweight and a cylinder last at least 4 plus hours on high. Also used one for a G.
S. Christmas Hot Chocolate event and girls were plenty warm in the cold. Great for hanging outside watching your kids play their sports. Walmart has the absolute best price around, believe me I shopped everywhere.
Very quick, free delivery and well packaged. Highly recommend this heater I am purchasing a third one.
Keep Yourself Warm Using infrared heat, this Heating unit distributes warmth evenly to give you a nice, cozy ambiance. Efficient and Quick Heating With a heating capacity from 9000BTU to 15,000BTU, this heater uses a 20lb LP gas cylinder and can be used in a variety of situations for efficient heating.
Easy Operation This propane heater does not use electricity and can be used even during power outages. User Friendly This heater comes with an emitter guard and wind screen, which prevents you from getting accidental burns while handling the unit.
We recently went camping with Boy Scouts and I brought the tank top Peter just in case. Thankfully I had it because the temperature dropped down to 32 that evening. That is very cold on the inside of a tent.
I installed the tank top heater on top of the propane bottle and turned it on and it kept my family comfortable through the night. Very good product and I would recommend to anyone.
Solid, easy to use little heater. It produces quite a bit of heat and lasts quite a long time on a 20 lb propane tank. I’m not 100% sure, but I did read that it can also be used on 1 lb tanks with the right adapter (just not on tanks over 20 lb.
or ceramic tanks). I used it a few times but then decided to get the double heater tank version by the same brand (Mr. Heater), which also works great.
Great product, very efficient source of heat. And also a great value. I will be purchasing more in the future. Very easy to light and can be used almost anywhere.
Factory buys direct is happy to introduce the new line of Avenger brand infra-red space heaters. The new Avenger series not only incorporates a new slimmer cabinet design but also features the latest advancement in vent free infra-red burner design.
This new advancement allows the Avenger series to provide more heat per ceramic plaque when incorporated with the patented dual fuel burner technology. No electricity is required which is perfect for power outages or any in-house urgencies.
Includes many exclusive features such as the 5 heat settings, the automatic thermostat control, and many more. Truly a leap forward in vent free infra-red heating.
The units look good and produce a significant amount of heat. There is a one clever design feature worth pointing out: the unit allows for both LP and Natural Gas. We purchased 2 units: The first unit had some part that was loose and rattled around on the inside when we were assembling it.
This unit would not light the pilot using the spark igniter so we needed to use an external flame such as a grill starter. Once the pilot was light it would heat as expected both with and without using the fan.
So the only solution is to leave the pilot on all the time. The second unit would light the pilot with the push button spark igniter as expected and produce heat. However, when the temperature sensor shut the unit off and if the fan was running, the pilot went out.
So the solution is to not use the fan. Having to work around the issues in the product design and quality is not appropriate. The product quality is poor especially with the pilot light system. I truly wished it worked as describe because it would have filled a need at a reasonable price.
Until they improve the design don’t waste your money buying one.
installed yesterday in a 36′ 5th wheel RV. Had spent 6 yrs heating with space heaters and could only gain about 20 degrees so when it was 30 outside it was only 50 degrees inside ! Plus I had to be VERY careful about coffee maker etc cause it would blow my breaker if had it on 1500 watts which was a real problem.
with my 30 amp service in the campground. It was 30 degrees outside last night and this heater set on the lowest end of # 2 kept it 70 degrees inside ! The thermostat works great–cuts off and much later maybe when falls 2 degrees the heater comes on again, (wouldn’t consider one without a thermostat–don’t think the mr buddy’s have one).
Some say not to sleep with it on etc but my dog and I left it on all night and woke up fine this morning ! I will even leave to go visit others etc with it on cause I will leave the pilot light on and just let it turn on and off as needed.
I really like these heaters. I have a heat pump and my monthly power bill was over $200 a month due to it running almost 24/7 during cold days (under 30 degrees, so not cold for some). I installed this and now my bill is under $100.
So at $200/month I paid $2400 a year and now pay less then $1200. And my gas bill is about $60 (at most) but that is only for 3-4 months then minimal. So the savings it great and the heat it puts out is much better than my heat pump would do.
So I save well over $800 a year using this over my heat pump during the coldest days and one could even save more, though the savings could be less it not as cold but these heaters are easy to install for a DIYer with no venting needed.
I bought this to warm up our two car garage which also doubles as a home gym. It’s very simple design with just an electric fan, push button valve, and an ignitor, which I hope will mean that it will last a long time.
Since we use it on a daily basis in the winter, we purchased a GasOne 50120 Propane Gauge to function as a POL to QCC adapter. It makes life easier when disconnecting and reconnecting the tank, as well as serving as a quick indicator for pressure in the line.
I forgot to turn on the fan first before lighting it up, and it automatically cut off the gas when it got too hot. Part of the label melted on the unit housing, and as a result, now serves as a reminder to plug it in before lighting.
The first weekend it worked perfectly. The next weekend the regulator didn’t work and it melted down the stickers and started melting down the handle. Called the manufacturer, they responded like a champ.
FedEx is picking it up today and they will be sending another one right away. So the responses was great from the company but what the heck. Glad the weather is warmer and we won’t need it till next weekend.
Hopefully the replacement will be here to assist us. We will see.
Nice and portable. Not too loud. Good for my 700 sq ft garage. Wish there was a fan control – it comes on when you plug it in and turns off when you unplug. A variable heat control would be great too.
There are a few things to consider when choosing a heater for van life. First, you’ll need to decide which type of fuel you want to use. Propane, diesel, and electric heaters are all popular choices.
Each has its own pros and cons, so be sure to do your research before making a decision. Second, you’ll need to consider how much space you need to heat. Smaller heaters are great for vans and RVs, but if you’re planning on spending a lot of time in your vehicle, you might want to opt for a larger model.
Finally, think about what other features you might want in a heater. Some models come with thermostats, timers, and remote controls, which can be very handy. No matter what your needs are, there’s a heater out there that’s perfect for you.
