We built an addition on the side of our garage, 14×16, for use as a craft\sewing room. It’s well insulated and sheetrocked, and has an in wall air conditioner for cooling, but I struggled with a way to add affordable heat that would bring the temperature up quickly in the winter months.
Small electric heaters are far more expensive to run, and won’t bring the temperature up in a cold soaked room like this gas heat will. After starting this heater on high, in 20 or so minutes, that room is comfortably warm, and the heater can be turned down to low.
We are in gardening zone 8 growing area, 15 degrees is very cold for us. This will also act as backup heat for the main house in the event of power loss for our heat pump. I had the original Mr Heater until if finally died. So I decided why not get the larger one this time. More heat, maybe more time. This one takes a lot of propane, it is warm, it works less than expected.
What I mean is that you have to prime a long time and sometimes it still goes out when you go to set the temp. Everything the original did. It has to have a very level surface, or forget getting it lit.
Again the same as the original. I take these to dog shows and wanted portable vs the ones you put on the heavy BBQ tanks. It was very cold this weekend and as I worked the show, I thought my dogs were warm, however it went out and thank goodness they were insulated and had fleece blankets to nest up in.
I will figure out the quirks and hopefully be happy with it. The seller was excellent. No reflection on him/her.

this is an excellent heater but it will not compete with the Denver cold. when it gets cold like 0 or below this heater stood zero chance against it and i am insulated to the fullest, every single crack is culked.
it stood no chance agaisnt – degree weather. i almost froze and was forced to turn on my predator 3500 generator which has saved my life many of times in extremely cold conditions. i highly recommend this generator.
if in zero degree or negative weather you better get the wave 6 instead. i am only in a 9 foot enclosed trailer conversion with 6ft ceilings and it couldn’t do the job. 30 degrees or above that and this heater does very well.
This review is both for the wave 3 heater and for camping world customer service. I purchased this heater and initially it appeared to work. The way you start this heater involves spraying the catalytic material with propane for a few seconds, igniting and holding the propane on for 60 secs, and then adjusting the propane to the high setting for about 10 mins.
Afterwards, you can lower the heat setting. After I purchased it and set it up, I always let it run for about 3 to 4 mins and then turned it off;why waste propane right. When I took it out on my 1st trip in my camper, which just so happened to be right when the return policy expired, only to find out that it was actually defective.
The heater clicks and turns itself off after 4-5 mins of otherwise normal operation–I’ve actually found documentation on the web about this happening to a handful of owners–it may have to do with a defective thermo coupling.
I called camping world customer service admittedly a bit frustrated. They took care of me and made the situation right. While on my trip with the defective heater, I was able to run it for a few minutes at a time, and then restart; which the manual explicitly calls out as something you should NOT do.
just FYI. I can tell it is going to do a perfect job of heating my 400sqft camper. So in general I am pleased and am excited about getting a working unit setup.
This unit has a number of appealing features. It is simple to use and install, it requires no electricity, it is nearly silent, and it is a modest consumer of propane. That said, I found it totally inadequate to keep my well insulated conversion van warm and comfortable in cold weather.
With a claimed 3,000 BTUs, I could barely feel any warmth radiating from it more than about 18″ in front of it. It took several hours to raise the temperature in my van by about 20º F. Like any non-vented propane device, it introduces a good deal of moisture into your space.

I purchased the Wave 6 based on all the fantastic reviews about how well it does in the cold. I am on the eastern side of OR where it is currently 21 and very snowy. The heater works well if you are within 2-3 feet of it, but it definitely does not keep my entire converted skoolie warm.
Down to about 32 it did work well, but once temp dropped below freezing it has to be supplemented with an infrared plug in heater. I also do not really notice much difference between the low and high settings other than propane use.
If it had a fan forcing the heat outward I think it would work much better.
The heater puts out a good amount of radiant heat. Starts easily when you follow the instructions. Big drawback is the propane consumption. Some reviews claimed running time for a 20lb tank was over 100 hours, which is absolutely wrong.
After 3 weeks of daily use in very cold temps, I can say this burns almost 1lb per hour. Use a larger tank, or a smaller Wave 3 if you need heat that lasts longer.
Great heater! A lot less condensation than the my buddy heaters. The wave 6 heats my camper van. Once the van is fully insulated this will be perfect. The wave 3 was just going to be a little too small.

I was a bit taken aback to have my face practically on the grill and in the process of holding down the know to “prime” the heating function, it continually flares up at me; I mostly get around it by only holding it for about 35-40 seconds as apposed to the 45 seconds per the instructions.
I have a 38′ class A, I only have two of the slides out, soooo approx 325 Sq feet, I know that this heater is suppose to heat 290 Sq feet, I wouldn’t think 35 Sq feet should make that much of a difference, but I let it run ALL night as well as in the early evening and early morning on MED and when the temps outside are in the low 30s, it only keeps it warm to the mid 50s; the back end if the rv gets no noticeable heat at all! If I’m sitting right in front of it, it gets VERY TOASTY on low.
Used to heat a 24 camper, travel trailer. With nighttime temperatures in the 40’s this heater was able to easily heat the entire camper. The 3 temperature settings is a big plus, saves on LP gas when low/medium temp is selected vs high temp.

In early January 2021 we wanted to schedule a camping trip for our kids spring break to relieve ourselves from our COVID-19 isolation. So, we scheduled a trip to a popular Texas Hill Country state park, not knowing ahead of our trip towards the end of February would be a cold spell the likes of not seen in the area for many prior decades.
The fact that we were even more isolated for a whole week 2/14-2/20 keeping warm burning logs in our fireplace due to the lack of electricity, we were even more determined to finally get out of the house.
After the storm we knew we would be needing a heater of some type and began shopping online. Due to the cold snap all the available Mr. Buddy portable heaters were bought yet after speaking to the very helpful Acme Tool representative on the phone in the store, then the on-line representative she was able to locate this DeWalt heater made by Mr.
Heater which used a V20amp DeWalt battery (we already owned) to power the fan as well as support other USB features the unit offered. Although we researched the item concerned of carbon dioxide emissions which were non-existent with this item, my wife still had concerns about using it in an enclosed tent.
But, feeling we needed something in case another cold wave should surprise us during the trip, we bought the DeWalt heater. When we called the on-line representative, she made sure to take advantage of every perk to get our heater at the best possible price and ultimately with the needed add-on accessories the purchase qualified for free shipping.
Time was running out as we only had a short time before our March 6th trip and I don’t know if the representative did anything special to expedite the shipment but it was at our doorstep in two days even though standard shipping indicated it would be at least four.
March 5 was upon us before we knew it and we were out enjoying nature of the Hill Country. The heater performed better than we expected, heating our tent and keeping everyone very cozy. I haven’t gotten to use this at length but I did fire it up on the one propane bottle I had laying around here just to make sure it worked and it does! Seems to work well. I got this for about 40 bucks less than I see it listed for right now during the pre-holiday sales.
It arrived in good shape and I hope to get lots of use out of it when I get my garage set up better for working out there. I read a lot of review complaints from people about it blowing out easily but that doesn’t concern me as I only plan to use this in my garage where there will be no breeze.
DeWalt built upon the Buddy/Mr. Heater/whatever platform and gave this some additional bells & whistles compared to the standard heater. The ignition source comes from two small AAA batteries and not any Dewalt tool batteries so anyone can make use of this heater, Regardless of what tools and batteries you may or may not have.
I know it’s made to be very portable, but I plan on pretty much using it in my garage. I’m happy with it.
LOVE this heater. With the battery installed, that we always have charged, the fan works great. Heated our 10 x 10 storage unit up fast in 32 degree weather. We, of course, had to leave the door open, but it was still very nicely warm in there.
Had it on high tho so it blew thru one cylinder of propane in about an hour. I will get the required hose to hook it up to a larger propane tank.

Came faster than expected. Fired rite up. Works properly. Produces radiant heat and consumes little fuel. And the catalytic pad was clean only used a couple times. Works well. Keep in mind only the bottom portion glows when he lights are off.
I asked the manufacture they said at least 40% should glow myne is more like 70%. Read instructions how to light it its dirterent than youd expect.

Bought this to test it out. Open patio with house wall on one side and overhead patio cover. Winter temps were in the 30s with a breeze. Unit fired right up a gives off a lot of heat. On the second use some small, plastic tabs busted off while turning the valve.
Unit still fired up and worked fine. I think this style of heater would be perfect if you are in an enclosed area. Two units would be ideal for open patio. Would be 5 stars if plastic parts were metal.
I was going to rent tent heaters to heat my enclosed patio (we actually used contractor’s plastic to enclose the porch) for a Christmas Eve breakfast. The rental cost for 1 heater plus the propane tank was $160.
So I started researching heaters online. After reading the reviews on this heater, I was hesitate to order the heaters. However, I am glad a did. I order 2 heaters to heat a 400 square area. My husband and I did a practice run with 1 heater.
The 1 heater was able to heat the area to 62 degree. For our breakfast we decided to use both heaters. The temperature outside as 37 degrees and rainy. Within 40 minutes of running the heaters, the temperature within the space was 75 degrees.
During the breakfast the temperature was a toasty 80 degrees. Overall we are happy with the purchase because we now own heaters that we know that will work for our patio. Smart purchase and small enough to store without a major problem.
I never have been able to get it to work right was told I needed to replace the thermocupler on it. I bought the 4 year service plan and cant seem to get them to fix it or replace it! it shuts off on its own and is a pain to light thats if you can get it to even light lol! Honestly I recommend the Mr.

The heater has only blown out once, but that was a very strong gust. It has remained lit while the Mr Heater next to it has blown out several times. The Dewalt weighs more and is built tough. The plastic panels are thicker, the metal grill over the flame is thicker, etc.
The fan is fantastic to move heat toward where you are seated and you don’t have to huddle over the heater. The unit accepts either a single 1 lb propane cylinder or a second bottle on the other side for a total of 2 lbs.
You can also connect the unit to a 20 lb cylinder with a hose attachment. We are very satisfied with Dewalt and believe it merits the extra investment for the quality and features.
This is a propan heater, the battery works only for the fan and light, the spark has a AAA battery. I don’t find the gas cartridges for this heater so it’s useless to me, because the point was to be very mobile.
If you don’t have the cartridges it’ll no go. If you want to conect it to a bigger cartridge it is a good choice. I given 1 star overall because doesn’t have a Follow up on consumables and doesn’t came with the cartridges installed or a side so at list you can start using it and because is very expensive compared with US market.
Great heater. Much heavier duty than the Mr. Heater brand heaters that are very similar to this one. Love the fact the USB chargers, light bar and fan are powered off the standard Dewalt batteries. Runs off of either one or two 1lb.

When I received this heater, it was packed well and in good condition. The reason I gave it for stars was because I could not light it. I played with it for about an hour, and when back and read the instructions again.
I did not have the ‘tip over’ alert perfectly strait up and down. Then it lit, but it is awkward to to fit a match in the tiny hole. I moved the bottle a few inches to more accurately aim the heat where i wanted it.
I did not think I tipped the bottle, but the ‘tip over devise kicked in and turned the unit off. And of course I could not light it again until it cooled down. I dealt with this a couple of times before I just said to h— with it and bypassed the tip over devise.
Now it starts quickly, runs good and I can move it around as needed. If I buy another I will bypass this thing first, before I even try to use it. Other than that, I an very happy with it.
Works great and was an easy set up. The safety (emergency) shut off worked very well too. Enough movement and it shuts right off. 5 minute set up and my covered, screened in porch became a winter cigar lounge.
5th star would come if the settings “clicked” better. High and medium worked fine as they click tight in. Low, not so much. Great heater, nonetheless.
This model lights easily. I had to return another brand as it would not light despite following the instructions. I put this model on one side of our porch and another portable propane heater on the other side of the porch.
I also reversed the ceiling fans to help circulate the warm air. We were comfortable despite the temp dropping into the 40s.

Bought 2-units. 1st one fired up and worked good like all the others of this style I have bought. 2nd one wouldn’t lite. Called phone# that is pretty much listed everywhere, even on google reviews. They answered.
Had us try a couple more times. Then said we could return it to store or they could send a gas valve. So I had my guy disconnect the unit from gas line & hook up to gas line of working unit & it fired right up and worked fine.
Other tech noted that should hear an audible “click” from dish shaped regulator on gas line at propane tank when valve was openned. Didn’t here that from the supply line/regulator of non-working unit.
Tech then adjusted & reconnected attachment at propane tank to regulator. Set it to different, more horizontal position. The unit worked normal and am happy. So a lot of these complaints about “wont lite” (I read them all before purchasing) are possibly install problems or line/regulator issues ? Tech support should be aware & advise customers of this when calling with “won’t lite” type issue.
This unit replaces the same model I purchased six years ago. Mud wasps filled the gas valve on my old unit. The issue with the new unit is a fading flame when increasing a call for propane. Dial gets to 2.
5 on the setting and while advancing the dial, the flame contracts. If I keep turning the dial the flame goes out. Once I surpass that dead spot, it starts to roar again. When the heater functions properly, it works well.
I liked my first one enough to by a second one. My rating is more reflective of tech support than it is of the product. A call to tech support and two emails with videos attached, showing the issue has left me hearing crickets… If you buy one of these and it works, you should be happy with it.
Puts out a good amount of heat and is super easy to use. I kind of wish it had an on/off switch instead of having to unplug it each time, but still works great for heating up my garage. It has an electronic ignition, so no worries about getting things lit off.
If also has a thermocouple that will turn off the gas if there’s no flame, so it should be good for using it outside too. The hose it uses has male threads on each end, so it will work on any size propane tank.
I’ve used it with 20lb tanks, but mostly use it with 100lb tanks I have. The hose it provides is around 6′ long, so I put the tank outside my roll-up door and put the heater just on the inside of the door.
It can be bad news putting the propane tanks on the inside if you don’t understand the thermal expansion of the propane due to temperature.

I have a shop in the garage. Obviously, it can get cold out there so a decent heater seemed to be in order. Dewalt is a name I’ve grown to trust. Most of the time their products work superb. Assembly was easy, instructions were alright and didn’t take very long to get set up.
It puts out a good amount of heat, my garage gets warm fairly quickly and if I leave on for 40-50 minutes or so I can get comfortable on a 32 degree day for an extra hour +\- after that. After connecting to a 20lb tank, held in the button to feed the LP to the unit, takes a little longer than I would like to get enough to operate (about 10 seconds).
Makes a loud scream-like noise on start, but I can live with it. Heat output was more than sufficient, but there are two major drawbacks. First, no air to push the heat makes this unit need to run longer than I would care for.
It can take a while to heat up a space. Second, no variable temperature control, and despite the “12 hour” run time, I constantly find this thing running out of juice. I purchased on sale for 139. 99, and though it works I would have rather spent the money on a comparable unit.
I will attempt to mount a thermoelectric fan on top in hopes that helps. Make sure to check for dust and debris and clean when needed, keep away from flammable objects.
Had issues with the propane igniting right off the head of the orifice before making into the burner area. Would happen intermittently and not to be operated without supervision as you should immediately turn it off when it happens.
This was on a standard propane cylinder from the hardware store nothing out of the ordinary. Happened inside an enclosed space and outside so wind was not a factor.
This heater heats up my 2. 5 car uninsulated garage from 25F to 70F in about 30min. Not as fast as my 150,000 BTU Dewalt forced air unit, but after 15min it’s warm enough to work in the garage. The advantage with this unit is it’s quiet and you can leave it on the whole time (won’t get too hot).
