20 Best Heater For Living Room (2023 Updated)

Before I bought this 2-power-level heater I bought I a 3-power-level one thinking the “Low” setting in the 3-level one would be very quiet. A heater being quiet is important to me since I use it in my home office during many hours of day in which I’m on the phone.

However, the 3-level one’s “Low” mode was too noisy for me. I returned it and bought this one. This one’s “Low” mode is much quieter than the other one and it heats the room even better than the other one (low mode to low mode).

In the “High” mode, it’s louder but not disturbingly so for me. The other thing I like about this one is that there is a recessed slot in the back for carrying the heater – it just basically works great.

The other heater didn’t provide for a hand-hold for the thing; you would have to use two hands or cradle it to your body to carry it. (Note though, this heater does not have a self-timer for turning itself off.

That would be nice to have, but I can happily use it as-is. ).

We purchase our first for my daughters rooms on the north side of our house. It works perfectly and keeps her room the right temp and is so quiet. I love the tip over feature since i was concerned with the possibility of her knocking it over.

She hasn’t but it offers good piece of mind. I bought a second this fall for my office and will be buying a 3rd. I did have an issue with the button breaking on the second but just asked for replacement.

I know these are good quality and sometimes flaws happen in production.

This is the best portable heater I’ve ever used! It heats up our 400 sf room in MINUTES! I love the oscillation. it really circulates the heat. It turns off when set temp is reached and back on when needed.

The remote is great. The auto-off safety feature is a bonus in my home with a clumsy great dane. If the heater is tipped and gets too warm, it turns itself off. Just unplug for 10 minutes to reset. I’m ordering a second heater because we love this one so much!.

This is my second purchase of this exact same space heater. My husband bought one last year; it is perfect and delivers heat quickly in any room in our apartment. Living in New York, it can be pretty cold in the winter even after the heat is turned on sometimes on a windy winter night, we find that we need a little something extra.

The oscillation feature and remote control is an added perk! The only reason I had to get another one is my husband accidentally dropped the last one and it broke. This is a cute compact unit. I bought it for my mom who has rooms with alot of drafts. It warmed up her small kitchen and bedroom quickly and effectively by placing it on the kitchen table or bureau.

I like that it has 2 settings for power usage depending on how much power you want it to draw from your outlet. It has a slight ceramic smell when used that will probably wear off after some more use.

I bought this brand because I feel its more dependable than the other brands that were offered, even though it was slightly more money. Overall very happy with this purchase.

Heats up fast. Need a better handel. Seems like all the heat goes up, not out. So you have to be 8-10 inches in front of it to feel the heat. Great if it is on the floor & you are sitting near it. When I went to the higher heat serting, it seemed like the motor slowed down for some reason.

Did not see a big difference in heat on high. If you turn the knob on the top way down, it never did come back on no matter how cold it got. I like it & would recomend it.

One thing I noted about this heater was that it didn’t blow out air, but rather the heat sort of drifted out. Regardless, the heat that comes out is very hot, and thus does nicely near a desk when working in a chilly room, or in the shower room.

I would have given five stars, but as the heat doesn’t seem to blow out as I’d expected, the warmth doesn’t seem to “reach out” as far as I’d like. On the other hand, to be fair, leaving it on a bit warms up the area, so it does what it’s supposed to, and that’s all I need.

Super confused on the efficiency of this unit, was replacing a Vortex small space heater hoping to gain a little quieter and some Wi-Fi abilities. Wi-Fi worked great but the heater was showing 76 degrees when it was 67 so I had to blast it to get my room at a comfy temp, took forever to get the room comfortable.

Room is a small Master bedroom and should have been plenty with the specs of the heater. And it is not quiet!!! Overall disappointed, was hoping to get a good heater with Wi-Fi but it just didn’t heat worth a dang.

Plugged my old heater in and it was magical compared to this one……I will look into some other brands with Wi-Fi, this one just seemed reasonably priced and had all the features I wanted but it just didn’t perform well.

First off, the heater works as do any. Eco mode is 500 watts, high is 1000. The problems are many however. It does have some positives. It has 2 side intakes with cleanable filters. It mounts on the wall and very low profile with a short cord.

Now the bads. You can set a temp and it’ll kick in eco mode while within 1 degree of it. The problem is it’ll run a few minutes and then say the room is 10 degrees warmer than it is. So if you ONLY want it to run in ecomode, you have to babysit it adjusting the temp constantly.

Once it kicks off it turns on the blower randomly to check air temp. This sounds like a mini jet engine powering up. It’ll do it then go off after a few seconds then do it again. Next, after a few minutes the temp disappears from the display and you suddenly don’t know what it is set to, nor room temp.

I could see this being useful for keeping the led lights minimal if it wasn’t for the randomly firing jet engine as said above. Next when in full power mode it is fairly loud. Again you have no control over it.

I’ve never had a heater, let alone one costing this much where you couldn’t set it to low or high manually. You are forced to play watch the temps. They tried very hard ( and failed ) to make a heater that was “smart”.

Instead it will only do what you want it to if you babysit it and even then it is frustrating. Also the remote changes inputs and functions on my Vizio sound bar AND led lighting in the room. I should have returned it but it was cold and returns are not super friendly so stuck with it.

My suggestion. Look at other options next winter.

Love these! They work great in the winter time to heat colder rooms that the primary heat doesn’t regulate so well. Thermostat seems to be accurate and the auto mode works well. I love that they can be controlled via WiFi.

Makes it very easy to adjust the temperature from across the room. I wish they had the option of to be self standing rather than only wall mountable. I use them with my google home smart speakers too.

This heater puts out a LOT of heat and is fairly quiet. First, we had to solve a clicking when it oscillates. Moved to another spot. It also had an annoying habit of shutting off before it got to room temperature.

Figured that out too. Now, for the not so good. In a dark bedroom you need a flashlight to change temperature of move to low/high heat. (Eco setting is a sop to the greenies and the meddling government) That tiny light on the front will do you no good.

NO REMOTE for you techies out there. You also have to actually BEND down to change settings. Yeah I know. The push controls are sometimes not really responsive and you must push a couple of times to reset.

Designed poorly, but really does heat the room, best I have found. Customer service was ok, but I felt that I should not have to trouble shoot a brand-new heater.

It is a cold season now and I massage my baby girl every day twice. It takes the central heater of my home to warm up. So, I was looking for a small space heater just for that specific purpose. Finally, after some research, I found this DREO heater.

I am so impressed with it. Even though it looks small it emits heat right away. It just looks small, but it functions just like bigger space heaters. Since it is small, it can be carried anywhere easily.

Some much quieter & smaller than my 10 year old infrared heater. Both 1500W. Too new to give it 5 s but if it lasts 10 years it will be worth every penny! I purchased a 1000W Heat Storm infrared heater, a couple years ago, for 12×12 enclosure and it heats the area easily during January & February making the space useable year round.

I really like the auto mode vs manual select high or low setting. Has the option to wall mount but since it is portable and I am only using it seasonally I wont be using that feature. My sister in-law was so impressed she purchased 1 too.

I ordered from another site. I saw the poor rating here and felt the need to get it right. I love my heater, and have it mounted on the wall in my garage. I can control it through the app or Google/Alexa which makes it very convenient.

Through the winter when I was working in the garage I’d just tell a smart device to turn it on, or if I accidentally left it on i could turn it off. It puts out a good amount of heat, and the device and wall do not get hot.

I’ve had no concerns whatsoever, although one is underpowered for a two car garage with no insulation. it still made a big difference.

So far so good. I got this infrared heater to supplement the propane heat in my RV. I’m using it on the attachable feet instead of mounting it to the wall so I can move it around. One of the reasons I wanted this unit is because space is limited in an RV and the back of this heater doesn’t get warm or have to be 3′ from flammable items so I can place it where I want to.

The feet are a hard plastic and feel solid, no wobbling. I like the cute little remote that comes with it. And it’s usable with GFCI outlets. It has a 2 prong plug. It tripped a breaker the first night because apparently the small electric heater in my room was on and plugged into the same circuit.

The downside is because I’m using it in an RV, I have to be careful what other appliances are on before I turn it on. It’s larger than I expected. The front has to be kept 3′ from other items which is pretty standard.

The grill area gets hot, but the rest of the heater exterior doesn’t. Quality is good and the instructions easy to follow. I’ll have to update my review after a few months of wintering in an RV.

Yes they do here they had a rather spa area very well i. e. if you have a small office or a small kids room or nursery type around This will be great. But if you have a larger room you’re going to find only about 8 x 10 of it gets really warm and the rest of it’s pretty much still cold it’ll probably be a few degrees cooler about wet 10 to 12 feet away from the heater for us as whatever the heater set up.

They are quite safe though and they do heat up very fast so if you want to heat up a small area very quickly wonderful and if you need the ability to put it on some thing it’s a wonderful little heater for that.

Mine will be going back because I need to heat bigger rooms.

These heaters look wonderful, but I could not install them because of the electrical system in my house. The electrician said that I would need to add to my electrical load which would cost me $2000.

I decided to return the heaters.

The VMH600 Whole Room Stainless Steel Heater with Auto Climate came just in time as it has gotten cold in central Texas. I spend most of the day working in the kitchen/dining room area. There is a wall of 5 large windows that span the area.

Suffice it to say this are gets very cold. I’m using the VMH600 Whole Room Stainless Steel Heater with Auto Climate to warm up this area. The heater is a modern stainless steel material. This heater has a remote control and a discreet cord storage.

Some of the safety features include: automatic safety shut off and tip over protection. Furthermore, this heater comes with 2 heat settings, fan only option, and a 12 hour timer. The cool thing about this heater is the handle.

It serves dual purposes. It acts as a handle but also a display panel where you can change the settings manually. I did find some disadvantages though. This heater is described as a “whole room” heater.

Well on its highest setting I have to stand right in front of the heater to feel the heat. This heater displays the temperature of the room. Well, that temperature display is not that accurate. I have a stand alone temperature gauge that I’ve used to years and the two temperatures differ.

I like the convenience that the remote control provides; however, the remote control is not reliable. I’ve only used this product and its remote control for one week and the remote does not work properly.

I’ve even gotten close to the heater and sometimes the remote works and most of the time it doesn’t. The fan revs loud like an engine when you turn the heater off or when you increase the temperature.

My oldest sons room is now in the basement. We were concerned at first because although we have insulated the walls, we never got around to lowering or finishing the ceiling in his room. The heat would normally circulate right through his ceiling and the room would be chilly.

Not too unbearable but still cold. After using the Mica Thermic panel heater. His toom has been perfect. It gets the room so comfortable and fast. I also love that once it is turned off, the room stays warm for up to an hour.

My son is definitely happy about his theater and I am as well. The safety features are amazing as well. Multiple setters are offered for the perfect adjustment. The auto turn off switch and it will turn off if it has been knocked over.

My husband said that we could also mount it. My mind was blown. This heater is very innovative and sophisticated.

I live in Montana and heat my home with pellet stoves. Well my main stove went out just in time for the temps to plunge to -20° I bought a delonghi heater through a box store praying it would be what I needed.

Boy was it! It kept the entire lower level of my house from freezing! I had placed it in my bedroom and then opened the door to allow the heat into other areas. I’m now buying a 2nd and possibly a 3rd, because I’m considering putting one in my poultry barn for when it gets too bitter.

I was not familiar with mica thermic heaters until I ran across this heater. It is the perfect option for medium sized rooms. I utilize it in an old detached garage turned into a living quarters. After trying ceramic and oil heaters with little luck, I plugged this bad boy in, set the thermostat, and BAM! I now have an extremely efficient heater that will heat quick, and maintain a warm room.

I love the anti freeze option this heater has. With all the safety features it has, I can set it and forget it. Being able to mount it to the wall is a great feature that I took full advantage of. I highly reccomend this heater.

I have a 400+ sqft livingroom, with alot of windows. I was looking for something to heat this room, so I could turn the thermostat down (& not heat the rest of the house as much). This heater didn’t meet that objective, but the customer service & return process was great! I highly recommend the company.

Smaller than I thought. Doesn’t put out a lot of heat. A little noisy. But it’s cute. Planned to return but Wayfair offered $$ incentive for me to keep (to avoid restocking?). So I did! Will use for under-desk feet warmer.

I was pleasantly surprised by how fast this heater warmed up my large bedroom. The room is a converted garage with no insulation or heat so during the winter, it’s freezing in there. Within a minute of turning it on, I could feel the heat starting to fill up the room.

It’s silent, no weird plastic odor, cool to the touch and the remote is perfect for when you want to adjust it from bed. I can’t praise this heater enough for letting me finally sleep in comfort. The Eco setting is great, as it will turn itself off and on depending on the room’s ambient temperature, so you don’t waste money or get too hot or cold.

The heater works well. It is a little “shorter” than I had hoped. Also, it does not always turn off when you press the turn-off button. I had to learn to look for the count-down to turn-off to show on the screen.

Otherwise, it means that it did not get the message, and did not turn off. This is inconvenient, but, once you know it, not terrible.

Smart small looking heater that add a stylish atmosphere to your home. Apparently good quality and does the job. The first one has dents… very disappointed I’d to contact Robert Dyas for a replacement… they handled it very efficiently and professionally in no time.

The impressive part was that they didn’t even want the faulty one back. I’m happy with my purchase and will recommend.

Very happy with this heater. Love the remote control. In fact, we are going to purchase another one for our lower den. Being seniors, we tend to get cold easily and this heater provides instant heat and comfort.

We had purchased two oil heaters and found them to be useless. They provide heat and comfort only if left on for quite some time. This heat is instant.

Just a quick note to say that I’m very happy with this purchase. The tower works wonders in chasing out the cold and making my office a warm, inviting place to work and play. I use the remote control all the time and find it very convenient.

I love it 1 heats my 29ft Travel Trailer and 2 of them heat my 34ft 5th Wheel. I really appreciate your product. January 2019, the beginning of the month we had an issue with the fan in one of the Heaters and the other one started making the same noise.

I called the company and they were great with me. I really felt good about the company. I sent them both back as a set and with no hassle they sent me another set. I had the choice of the money or another sent.

I picked another sett because they work exolent, no issues and like I said it heats my 29ft Travel Trailer. The other one was put in our 34ft 5th Wheel and It worked great also. I am very happy about these heaters.

These heaters work pretty well. I use them in my garage to keep it warm when Im working. Only drawback is that they will kick your GFI every so often. Im not sure if they over draw current ? But Ive had to reset my breaker several times after I was left in the dark garage after they blew my breaker.

Nice thermostat thats pretty accurate, nice quick heat up, blower fairly strong. They are not near as good as a 220Volt or gas heater. But for the price you get 2. At retailers you pay this price for 1.

All in all a strong 8. 5/10. I dont use it everyday so Im sure it will last.

This heater is so good that I’m constantly having to battle my cats and my partner for it! I bought it for my small office space but it’s powerful as heck. It heats my entire apartment on the lowest setting.

If I had one downside to report, the metal sticker for the thermostat falls off – but that’s nothing some superglue isn’t going to fix.

I love this heater! It works great, and the vintage look was exactly what I wanted. It heats up my room very quickly – definitely does the job. It’s not a heater with all the bells and whistles (two speeds, manually operated), but that’s exactly what I was looking for.

We have had many different types of space heaters over the years. This is the first one with Infrared heating elements, and certainly the first one with a remote. The outer shell of this heater is an attractive blend of materials and looks nice in any room.

It is well constructed and is not too heavy to move around, even having convenient handles for carrying. The ambient temperature feature is helpful because individual rooms vary so much. In a larger room like a living room, it would take a while to notice the rise in temperature, but it would help for sure.

In a small to medium room, you would get warm much sooner. The gentle fan does not make a lot of noise, but is very effective at moving warm air into the room. If you can direct it right at you, at a fairly close range, you get the benefit of both warm air and the feeling of the sun on your skin.

Although only 1500 watts (the max for portable heaters) the 5000 BTU’s produced sure feel good. This is a good choice for a medium sized portable heater.

During this last cold snap, the boiler went out in my apartment building. It does this at least once a year, every year. I had a much smaller heater which barely kept one room warm. This one I set on the kitchen counter (I have a small dog) and it kept the entire apartment comfortable.

I do have a small apartment, so if it had been much bigger, I doubt I could make this claim, but it was much better than the smaller heater. It has temperature settings you can adjust, and the exterior of the unit stays cool to touch.

I loved it! Now I know I can stay in my apartment (the building manager offered to send us to a hotel) with my dog. I didn’t want to leave him in a cold apartment.

I ordered this ahead of the cold season and until last night thought it was ok. When run for several hours on 76 degrees, the skimpy sized plug became too hot and caused the outlet to become hot. Since this is the fourth Lifesmart heater that I have purchased I knew there was a problem and shut it down.

I suspected when it came that the wiring to the plug might be a problem , since it was so different from all the others. The wiring seems inadequate to carry the wattage of the heater.

First, as a base line, we live in house that is 107 years old. It has hydronic heat. Located in PA. Annual ambient temperatures require heating for 5-7 months. With Jan, Feb, and Mar temperature dropping below freezing.

Our hydronic system failed Jan 3. Repair Services love emergency call out for a price. Not me. We purchased Atomi Smart heater instead. I will go though our plans and why these heaters are a better fit for us.

Plan 1 – Prevent pipe freeze. Improve human comfort level. Our house is two stories with a basement. The stairwells act as heat chimney. One heater in the basement to protect water pipes and start the chimney action.

Any 1500 watt space heaters would work. The Smart App make adjustments much easier. Even though we have experienced below 20F days, no frozen pipe. Another heater would give more human comfort at an increased electric bill.

Plan 2 – We will get the boiler fixed on our time schedule. Our hydronic system has a 5×2-4 programable thermpstate that can be manually kisked up and will automatically drop back to the programmed set point after two hours.

Each radiator has a manual valve, which have limited control value. The Aotmi Smart app has scheduling. Another feature that attracted us to the heaters. Our plan is to drop the hydronic thermostat a few degrees and use the Atomi Smart heaters for peaking.

Probably will take tweaking placement and timing. The desired result ia a savings a few bucks during the heating season. Overall. Fit and finish of the heater is good. The App works well. I did have some angst making the WiFi connections on the first unit.

The second unit was no trouble at all. Both heaters are controlled from the same instance of the App. Not sure how many network of things can be attached to the App. The front panel touch controls are sensitive, and work very well.

So far, no goofy behavior from the heaters. Last, there are two items in the box, a manual and the heater. No assembly required. Cons. I favor heaters that can be thrown from a second story window and then run for 10 years without fault.

Atomi Smart heaters have a lot of plastic. No window test on these. I am liking the heaters now, maybe even to the point of buying another. Time will tell.

Solid packaging, everything arrived in one piece. Sharp looking, although the unit is a bit light and, of course, all hard plastic. Would have preferred a heavier base, but the wind won’t blow it over.

Don’t look for hardcopy directions in the box, included in the app. Smart setup typical, the usual – find the wireless, but no real issues. Google integration seamless. Took me a minute to figure out the Oscillation command.

I’ll save you the trouble. Use exact, “Hey Google, Heater ossiculate on/off”. So you can see I love it as a Smart device and all its tricks, scheduling and the design. Now as a heater? not so much, 3 stars at best.

It’s very quiet, but the fan doesn’t blow all that hard either, but the heat is good and hot. And the 750 sq ft. coverage they claim, haven’t tested, but my 300 sq ft room, would seem to be the max. And my California cool, take the edge off, is not Midwest cold.

I can feel the heat blowing about 3-4 ft away, that’s it. So if you’re looking for a 10 degree bump, this is a good one. More than that, you’re on your own. But if you’re a techy, you’ll enjoy!.

We live in Colorado. We have a bottom floor/entryway in our home with only one heater vent in the ceiling so it always stays very cold in the winter. We had a little space heater down there but it struggled to keep up and was a pain to go down and turn on each morning and off each night.

We found this Atomi heater and loved that there was an app to control it and a schedule feature. It has been a game changer! Not only does it sufficiently heat the space but its small and sleek design are also aesthetically pleasing.

We set it up on a program and can change that or check up on the heater with our phones. The safety features give us comfort as well. It is very quiet and the oscillating feature has helped tremendously.

I bought the 30000 btu infrared propane model and I was absolutely surprised at the amount of heat this unit puts out. This unit so far has heated my 900 square feet at the low setting at an outdoor temp of mid 40’s at day and high 30’s at night.

I had the heater once at the medium setting and had to lower it back to the lower setting because it was too warm. I’m sure this heater will surpass my expectations when the outside temps become much colder.

So far, keeping heater at lowest setting, my homes main furnace as not come on. I leave the Dyna Glow heater running at lowest setting all the time and so far saving money vs the home furnace using fuel oil.

The best part of the Dyna Glo is the constant warmth instead of up and down heating experienced by my home furnace. Another plus is that my cat loves to sleep nearby enjoying the radient heat. I consider this Dyna Glo heater as one of the best investments in my home and wish I had bought this heater years ago.

I highly recommend this heater.

I absolutely love the amount of heat that comes from this heater. So far, I have used the lowest setting to heat about 900 sqft. home at outdoor day temps at low 40s to mid 30s at night. Used the medium setting and soon had to go back to lowest setting.

I’m very confident this heater will perform great at the medium settings for most of the winter here in North Carolina. I’m very pleased with this heater and so far has exceeded my expectations. I should have bought this years ago instead of throwing money away on my inefficient home furnace that uses fuel oil.

This Dyna Glo heater maintains a constant radiant heat. I highly recommend this product.

This was easy to hook up, after buying the necessary parts. Heats very well and saves electricity! We feel alot warmer this winter already and hardly use our big electric unit. It has a push button start so it starts heating quickly.

We had a small propane heater before we got this large one and we are hoping to another small one, so with 3 of them, it should heat our house completely. (we have 2100 square feet) Plus we can use these if the power goes out!.
