20 Best Heater Air Conditioner Combo (2023 Updated)

I originally thought this was a window unit but it’s a through the wall unit. It got such good reviews I didn’t want to return it so I adapted it to the window instead. Works perfectly! Quieter than I expected.

This unit is perfect. I have no complaints. Just what my bedroom needed. Box came with everything I needed. Installation was easy as well.

This unit generated a lot of cold air. Unfortunately it was defective as the shaft for the fan was bent. The unit began blowing cold air and shortly afterwards it began making a loud clanking sound as it banged against the body of the unit.

I spent 2 hours adapting the vent to attach it to the window. The unit was out of stock and so I had to get a different portable unit. I wound up getting a less powerful Frigidaire. I am happy with the Frigidaire and believe the exhaust hose will be easier to replace/repair when necessary.

The Midea had a unique hose that will be expensive to replace. The Frigidaire has a standard 4″ flexible exhaust hose that will be much easier and less costly to replace. It may not be as powerful but the unit cools the rooms it is used in.

First off this unit is a bit pricier than other units but it shows. This unit surprisingly keeps my 1200sq single floor house under 70f and before getting it temps were hitting 80f+. The unit is super quiet and could definitely be in the same room as it while running and the dual house means it keeps the pressure equal in your house and not sucking in hot air from the creases and gaps in your house.

The only complaint I have is the hose is fairly short, I was only able to stretch the hose out to one window in my house and it definitely doesn’t like to be bent side to side.

1100 sqft home, big lovingroom window facing west. HOT all afternoon. We got this in combination with blackout blinds because it’s cheaper than a whole AC install. I dropped it off at home and needed to head out to work.

My wife installed it within a few hours. Got the house down from 29 degrees to 22 in about 2 hours. Very good unit even for keeping a full upstairs cooler.

Installed the Senville mini split head unit upstairs in a large bonus room. WE like it! works very well keeping the room at a comfortable temperature. Compared to a window unit and even my central HVAC, this is very very quiet on the inside head unit and the heat exchanger outside is also very quiet.

having a remote control is a new feature for me and I find it most handy to control the Senville mini split. the Senville mini split was not difficult to install but with only 16 ft of coolant line the heat exchange unit needs to be close to the head unit.

there is an option to buy and extended line set but that would need extra freon and I recommend a professional to install that. for price and value, I highly recommend the Senville Leto mini split unit, I purchased the 24000 BTU and am enjoying the cool air.

Installed this in our shop that we build custom cabinets in and It does an excellent job or cooling it down when the outside temperature was 102 degrees and the heat index was 107 degrees, This is in a shop with area of 1164 square feet with the attic area having very little insulation installed at present time.

I would definitely buy this product again and highly recommend it for this type of service. My opinion a person could certainly not go wrong on buying this unit for 1200 sq. ft. or less, Am anxious tro see how it performs in the winter when it’s really cold and they wind blowing hard.

Quiet, great value, dependable, shipping was great, packed very well. My son and I installed it. In my garage and it has been great! I dont hear it running but it sure puts out the air. I use it all year round.

I found the installation of the stylish LG 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner to be fairly uncomplicated. The unit comes with an installation kit, and an easy-to-use remote control. This marvelous dual inverter AC offers outstanding performance.

It has two compressors, multiple modes (including an energy savor mode), and useful smart features. The unit effectively cools a room faster and more efficiently than my previous traditional AC. The thermostat on the model is very accurate.

Temperature regulation is superb. The sleep mode turns off the unit after a set time. The fan can go in different directions. You can adjust how bright the display is, so the light doesn’t keep you awake.

This LG 8,000 BTU air conditioner is fantastic. First of all it is super quiet and efficient. It cooled my master bedroom in no time, and actually made the room smell better. {we installed new wall to wall carpeting} The dry feature actually takes the dampness out of the room on those humid 93 degree days.

The Energy Saver feature has the unit going on and off at different intervals throughout the day to regulate the temperature. It also has an “auto clean” feature that you can set that evaporates any moisture generated inside the unit that may have accumulated, thereby making it more efficient and leaving no stale scents other air conditioners get over time.

The remote control is an added feature if you don’t feel like getting out of bed to change the temp in the room, or turn the unit off or on. I haven’t used the wifi feature from my phone so can’t comment on that.

Overall this will not disappoint! One side note, it has 3 settings F1 F2 F3 for power, with F3 being the highest, it isn’t full force in your face, but it apparently doesn’t have to be. because the room is cooled in no time.

I’m guessing the inverter is responsible for that. Its a weird phenomenon but it works! I highly recommend this unit! I used to buy Freidrich but now I am all LG!!!.

I am renovating a small cottage home that was built in 1957. The attic is only about 2′ tall at the apex and is very little room to run duct work. The house originally had 3 window units and in wall heaters that we never used due to in my opinion being major fire hazards.

We saw this unit and decided to give it a try since I had already torn out the walls and needed something to replace the old window units. I have had some experience with HVAC and electrical work so I didn’t find it that difficult to run the necessary tubing or wires although it was still a chore to get it routed through the attic and out to the outside compressor unit.

The only complaint I have is there is no good way to secure or hide the excess tubing that is left between the units. I will probably have to build a box to hide them so it doesn’t look so unsightly.

The operation of the units themselves are excellent? I did have one issue with one of the wifi controllers not working but customer service was very quick in sending me a new one and all is well. I love the ability to control the units remotely since this will be a weekend / summer home but I still need to provide some climate control to prevent mold due to the humidity buildup.

In the last month of having these units installed my electric bill has decreased drastically now that I don’t have to run a window unit constantly to maintain the humidity and temperature in an appropriate level.

Prepare for a positive, thorough review. I ordered this system 7 days ago, it arrived in 5 days, well packaged, on a wrapped pallet, and I installed it yesterday. I spent about 30 minutes on a Friday evening unpacking and 2 air handlers and compressor, and staging them in the install locations.

(Very robust packing materials, kids-11 and 13-spent the rest of the evening playing with/in them. ). 7 hours on Saturday to complete the full install by myself, with cold air blowing quietly from both inside units.

Easily half of this time was spent running the dedicated electrical circuit, cutting into walls, pulling wire through a crawl space, and wiring up the cut-off next to the compressor. Straight forward instructions, well thought out process and connectors for the pre-charged line-set.

Zero leaks, I was impressed throughout. Having three copies of the manual was very helpful, I kept one at each unit and referred to them often. I have had 14 mini-splits installed in various rental properties, mitsubishi and carrier brand, and they have worked well.

This is the first one I have installed myself, (and the first multi-zone,) at a significant (significant!) savings. With an extra set of hands, and an easier to reach electrical panel to pull from, any competent lay person could complete this install in half the time it took me.

Fingers crossed that the next 7 years of operation with be as positive as the first 7 days.

I don’t typically do reviews but I felt like my experience with this product is one worth sharing. Anyone looking for an inexpensive way to condition a garage, workshop, sunroom or any space that needs a little help should consider a Mrcool DYI mini split.

I installed this in my wood shop manly to help control humidity and cool the space during the summer. The instructions are easy to follow and the system is easy to install if you have any mechanical aptitude.

The 12k system is light enough for one person to handle and it took me a full day to complete the install which included adding the line set cover kit. So far the system is working great. Both the interior air handler and the exterior compressor are very quiet.

I intended to purchase this unit trough Amazon but noticed it shipped from Ingrams Water and Air so I reached out to them via their website to get a quote and was able to save some money. The order process was easy and they got it shipped out within a few days.

The unit arrived via UPS in two boxes that are well packed. After I ordered the mini split I decided to order the line set covers and again I found that ordering directly from Ingrams not only saved me a few dollars but was very easy.

I bought this unit to replace one that I have had for around 20 years. This unit heats and cools good, but it shuts off and on every few minutes. I wish it would just stay on continually. It runs for 6-7 minutes then shuts off.

Within a minute it comes back on. This time it stays on for a minute or two then shuts off again. It is very loud and very annoying. If I would have known it was going to be like this, I would not have bought it.

Great unit. Relatively easy to install with two people. Installation was around 1. 5 hours. The unit does an amazing job of cooling our 850 square feet second level of our home. It is a little loud while running, but nothing terrible.

I still can’t believe how quickly it cools down the large area of space. Really happy that we chose to purchase this unit of the others we were looking at. Please look and make sure that you have the correct electrical wall outlet prior to the purchase, as it does not work with the standard 115 volt wall outlet.

This is my only heat and cool source. I have it running almost all the time. It is in the living room. Cool the bedroom enough that I can run a fan, and that’s all I need. Heat is the same. I have a radiator space heater in the bedroom.

I absolutely love this unit. 12000 BTU. I’ve had it about 5 years.

Noise canceling head phones block it out just fine. Works great on those sweltering 90+ degree days. Higher performance than other models on the market. Cons Air vent is top and directs airflow up not in direction you want.

Hoses are difficult to connect and difficult to un-connect. If you don’t do it just right they break. Once they’re on, they’re difficult to remove because the second hose restricts the room you have to release it.

I gave up and just left them connected. Board is designed for a window that slides up and down. If you use it in slide left to right window you’ll need to modify it. The company does not sell extension pieces to get the length you need.

You’re best bet is to go to a hardware store and buy a board and cut to size. The plastic material the board clicks into is rather weak. I don’t use it and just cut two round holes into wood and that works just fine.

Drainage hole at very bottom with no easy way to drain it. Mine came with no drip try and the number one complaint about the reviews is there’s no easy way to drain this thing. If you make a drip pipe for this thing, the bucket can’t be more than 3″ off the ground or it’s too tall for it.

That barely lasts an hr and I wouldn’t risk it. Yes the drainage hole will over flow and leak on the surface if it is full and the owner fails to drain it on a regular basis. I would not advise to leave this thing running unless you’re home to watch it.

I’ve seen too many reviewers complain about how their device over flowed and caused damage to their home when they went to work or out for an afternoon outing. Could use some grab slots to lift the thing.

There are no handles or groves in the device to be able to lift it easily. These things are heavy and I would not advise moving it once you get it to the level on your home that you want it in. I used grip gloves to move it and the slick plastic made it difficult to grab onto.

Not all of them come with a remote or drip try. Mine came with neither.

TraduireAfficher dans la langue originaleWorks great for AC and heat! Living in a manufactured home, I bought this to replace my mini split heat pump that died after 11 years. So I bought this mainly for winter use.

I have a window A/C rated at 15K BTU, but when I installed this one, it outperforms my window A/C. The temperature finally turned cold and I switched to heat and it works great. The one plus of the portable for a heat pump it that it takes warm air from the room instead of a traditional heat pump drawing air from outside.

So this should work much better that traditional heat pumps. I supplement my heat with a oiled filled radiator, so this produces warm air and the heat pump takes the heat out of the indoor air. The only drawback is the fan noise, but it’s not as loud as my window A/C and I’ve gotten used to that.

Using real Central like heat! The air condition is so powerful it feels like Central Air! Cons: An Air Conditioner / Heater of this magnitude should have a more pronounced LED screen it is too little for older eyes and older eyes are most likely to purchase this unit.

(Furnace). Remote – the remote is an LCD but it needs a back light and it also needs Wi Fi for what this unit is totally about, Should had just used an app so the remote could be used from your cellular phone.

(long story short!) The Air Conditioner Tubes are so big it can not sit close up under a window if that is what you are thinking your when getting it, Your are in for a real awakening the closest I could get this beast is 3 feet away from the window.

This model (NAC14KWHD3) is perfect for that bedroom in the house that is furthest from the furnace/central AC, and so it always extra HOT in the summer and extra COLD in the winter. Setup was super simple (although I must admit that I was stumped for a few minutes about how the window kit assembly actually was supposed to work – I think the instructions on that could be improved).

That aside, this unit cools my 12′ x 14′ guest bedroom extremely quickly, and I’m sure it would be suitable for a room nearly twice that size. Even with the fan speed only a level 2, it moves enough air to turn my ceiling fan when the ceiling fan is not even running.

🙂 I find that the large temp LEDs on the front face of the unit are super handy for a quick check of the temp setting at-a-glance from a distance, and also functions very nicely as a night-light (and you can turn it off from the remote if you find it too bright at night).

Lastly, I like that the exhaust hoses/window-kit take up only a fraction of my natural light coming in from the window, compared to the old window-AC which effectively blocked about 50% of my natural light thru the window making the room seem gloomy.

I adore this portable air conditioner! I really like how simple it was to install, how simple it was to use the remote control, and how strong the airflow was overall. The 12,000 BTU will undoubtedly cool down any space.

My bedroom cooled down instantly, and I relished every second of it! It is a highly contemporary piece that would complement any interior design and is surprisingly quiet. The ability to quickly convert from using this as an air conditioner to just using it as a fan is a huge benefit! I recently got this portable AC/Heater and my husband and I LOVE it. It was super easy to set up. It only took a few minutes to attach the hoses and the window using the window kit that came with it.

Did I mention we didn’t even have to take out the screen for our window to do so? I LOVE that. The unit works super fast cooling down our room in just minutes to our preferred temperature and I can control it on the main unit as well as the remote control it comes with.

It is easy to move to different rooms because it has wheels on the bottom and with how easy it is to hook up to the window we can use it in our main living room during the day then move it to our bedroom to use at night.

We haven’t really used the heater part since it’s like 98 degrees here right now, but I did quickly test the heat setting and it worked great. Can’t wait to use it come winter. It does have a dehumidifier setting if you live where it’s humid.

Bought Chill Premier to replace 20 year old Friedrich 10k BTU window unit. I’ve bought 2 Chill Premiers, 18k BTU and 24k BTU, which work well for the large area they service. This 12k BTU is used in a bedroom with high ceilings.

I looked forward to cooling comfort and quiet operation. This delivered on the cooling, but air blowing noise proved intolerable. On the lowest fan setting, air blew through vents with a volume perhaps too great for the small vent openings.

Whether automated or manual setting, the rapid air movement creates a lot of noise. This is the Bernoulli Principle. Larger vents would allow same volume of air without the strong rush. I have been brand loyal, bought 5 Friedrichs recently.

This one is the most disappointing because of the noise. I thought other reviewers were exaggerating, but they weren’t. I replaced the 12k BTU with a highly rated competitor’s model which can run at high fan speed as well as very low and get cooling and comfort as I expected.

Can now see if the competitor’s brand lasts 20 years without a problem as did the Friedrich. I only buy models that have a removable outer case. It’s much easier to mount in a window without risk of dropping the unit.

Both Friedrich and the competitor offer this feature.

Purchased this new unit to replace older Friedrich wall/sleeve unit. Be sure to buy new Friedrich uni fit sleeve which does not come with new a/c as in the past. The new uni fit sleeve will fit the old sleeve rough opening dimensions but I had to add a 1/2 inch piece of cut plywood to the upper frame to fill in the slightly smaller height of the new sleeve.

The new sleeve and new ac comes with multiple foam strip options and the instructions are not helpful whatso ever and are very confusing. I called Friedrich techs twice for guidance and it is not easy to get through to them.

Bottom line is that the new uni fit sleeve can hold three different sizes of Friedrich ac and the largest BTU unit fits snug while the smaller BTU units must be centered inside sleeve with the seals placed around the new unit and inside the sleeve.

There is an architectural frame that comes with new ac and covers the gap between the sleeve and new ac however the inside moldings around the ac sleeve will have to be removed and new ones cut, installed and painted to allow the sleeve cover to be mounted flush.

The power cord CANNOT be routed to either side of new unit and exits from lower left side of unit. The original unit I purchased in 2007, (which still works!), required dedicated line, circuit breaker upgrade and heavy duty outlet.

The new unit can be used on existing line however you will need to install standard wall outlet and different size circuit breaker in main panel, requiring an electrician. Total cost was just under $1,000.

00 and I performed all labor other than electrician. The new Friedrich Chill units are half the price of the uni-fit and come with new sleeve, however you will have to modify entire rough opening, removing siding on outside, adding sheathing, and adding sheetrock/ new paint on inside, so I chose the uni fit option to avoid that.

The new ac is 30% more efficient then what I replaced and is quiet and works extremely well. I have another Friedrich wall sleeve unit and will probably upgrade that as well with the uni fit system now that I am confident with the first installation of the one I purchased.

You can put a uni-fit in an older sleeve but I would advise against it as the new unit has to be sealed in a particular way that would be very complicated as opposed to the new sleeve I purchased, which is why the new unit comes with so many foam sealing options that are not ultimately needed.

Bottom line is that nothing is easy with this install so don’t plan on having it done in a hour or so which is what I thought it might take when I purchased this. You can purchase the KUHL model for several hundred dollars more than the uni-fit and that comes with new sleeve that fits exactly into old sleeve dimensions.

Overall, I’m satisfied with uni fit option I chose.

I was looking for a unit to cool our bedroom, approx. 400 sq. ft. Our old Friedrich lasted 27 yrs. which led me to favor a Friedrich. Also my wall opening was for a 10,000 BTU unit which fit the unit I purchased, the Kuhl 10,000 BTU size.

I purchased the Kuhl due to it’s more robust construction, and the ease of replacement. The unit does a super job of cooling before we go to bed. One half hour before our sleep time I turn it on High and it cools the room from 76 degrees to 68 degrees.

I then run it on Low and it maintains temp between 68 and 67. 5 degrees through out the night. With the low speed the noise level is slight and does not disturb our sleep. I have tried Medium speed, and it is nosier but not enough to bother us.

I found the run cycle is about 20 minutes every hour with low speed. The external temperature in Ct. is in the high seventies, at night. During daytime with temperatures in the mid 90’s the room stays cool at 70 degrees at medium speed.

Currently I am pleased with the performance, and hope for another 27 years. The only negative, I was told it is a sealed unit and if a leak occurs then discard the unit, there is no recharge capability, so I bought the extended warranty.

PC Richards did the delivery and installation and did a great job in a timely manner.

Building my dream woodshop hit a snag when the order for the a/c was repeatedly delayed. Called Total Home and they had one in stock. Shipped right out. Some problems with the shipper, they lost the shipment.

Total Home sent anther one right out and it arrived, no problem. Unit slipped right into the sleeve, plugged in, and it chilled down my new shop. Been running perfectly in humid Texas heat.

I replaced my old PTAC (of another brand), with this Amana model and am very happy. It was easy to install and fit into the sleeve of the old PTAC! The plug was identical so I had no electrical issues.

The unit is quiet and cools my sun room addition quickly. I used the heat feature one very chilly morning and only needed it on for only several minutes when it took the chill out of the room. This unit is a great buy and I am a super happy customer.

I bought this unit for our den, which is a double car garage that has been closed in. There was no heat or air in there and it’s on the south side of the house so it could get pretty hot during the summer.

It has been mild this year but so far we really enjoy it. This room is over 500 ft², and actually slightly bigger or at least the upper limit of the area recommended for this unit. It does a good job though and I would buy again.

Keeps my 38′ RV cold (75 degrees set at 70) in 114 degree heat. was a couple inches narrower and a couple shorter than the listed dimensions so it actually fit perfectly in a cubby underneath RV. I purchased the Kwik-e-vac bottle and didn’t need any A/C tech or plumber assistance (if your lines are longer than 25′ than you will need additional refrigerant, found online for cheap) because I followed the instructions that are very clear and hard to mess up.

I’ve installed over 1000 mini split units in tents while in Kuwait and Iraq and on mine here at home I didn’t use any tools other than a couple a pipe flaring tool, screwdrivers and wrenches. Safe to say anyone with common sense as a close friend can figure it out.

Over all i would highly recommend anyone looking for a trailer or RV ac replacement then mini splits are the way to go and i did about 6-8 months of research trying to find a 110-115v low power consumption and based on my experience years ago in the middle east dealing with at least 20 different brands (including pioneer).

i would say that this unit paired with the great Wifi option (i always turn it on about 20 minutes before i get home from work) it is a great unit. Hey Pioneer can i get paid for this review!! **** kidding but serious!!.

I absolutely love pioneer I have purchased and installed 3 units so far and just ordered a 4th. They have every piece of information posted on the site that you could need as an installer, they always have units available, pricing is great, there are always deals, shipping is awesome and customer service is good.

I have installed our 1st unit about 5 years ago without any issues , this was a ducted mini split, these units are slim and can be tucked in the tightest of ceiling. 2nd unit was installed 3 years ago, mini ducted split system absolutely fantastic tucked in the ceiling as well.

The most recent unit was about 1 year ago and was the Diamante 36,000, installed to condition and customers sun room. Its works great, customer loves it! Just purchased 56,000 split system for another project yesterday! The first two units I purchase were through amazon not knowing the Pioneer website existed.

Now I have an account and direct order! I think its just a matter of time before everyone jumps on the Pioneer band wagon. It feels like a best kept secret but I don’t think it will be like that for long as the products continue to prove themselves.

Oh and every unit is super quite compared to conventional units imo.

I purchased the Diamante Ultra 9000 BTU to install in my 2nd floor bonus room. This was my 2nd mini-split install. I figured I’d make it a challenge and do it 18 feet in the air. The unit operates as you would expect.

It is quiet, and has very good air flow. Pioneers documentation on the install is very good. I set the system up and vacuumed the lineset down to 180 microns. Released the refrigerant and checked for leaks and was set.

I used Pioneers wall mount and lineset covers. Despite my best efforts to isolate the unit with rubber isolators between the wall and also on the feet. I still get a bit of a rumble from the mini split when the compressor is operating under load.

I expected it, and my efforts were to limit it. The wall mount is very solid with a heavy gauge metal. However the built in level. popped out when I was attempting to level the mount. (read useless).

The 3 inch lineset covers are excellent for the 9,000 or 12,000 BTU installs. The 16 foot lineset and the 3 inch covers are a perfect match. The internal WiFi was a huge reason I went with the Ultra when purchasing.

I didn’t want to buy a base unit and then have to shop around for the WiFi module. The extra Seer rating of the Ultra and the included WiFi module were why I decided it made sense and the extra money was worth it.

The actual support for the module that comes with the unit. is almost non-existant. The enclosed directions send you to a Pioneer website to download the documentation. The Documentation isn’t for the module in the Ultra system.

I managed to read enough into the directions to muddle my way through to activating the WiFi system and getting it operational. The WiFi settings and the remote don’t communicate. When you make a change on the WiFi the remote has no idea what just happened.

The WiFi control overall is very good, and very similar to the other mini-split I installed. I was disappointed to open the indoor unit and find no filters. Well, there are 2 small 2×8 inch filters. But the rest of the unit has no filtering system installed, and none available to purchase that I can find on Pioneers website.

I’ve sent questions to Pioneer via email and on this site via questions with no response. The indoor air-handler has no filtering system installed. That alone caused me to lower my rating on this product.

The WiFi support was another rating bomb. Overall the Pioneer® Diamante Ultra 9,000 is a good unit. There is nothing exceptional about it. The high seer rating is great, but the lack of WiFi documentation and the lack of indoor filters included with the unit are puzzling for a system deemed “Ultra”.

Then when I go to register the product, I find that I also need to go back out and go 18 feet in the air – open the cover to the electrical to find the serial number for the outdoor unit, and go to the indoor unit an open the electrical cover (per the directions) to find the serial number.

there is nothing under that cover other than electrical connections. Pioneer, include the serial numbers in your shipping documentation in the future. Overall the Pioneer® Diamante Ultra 9,000 appears to be a good unit.

Would I recommend it over any other 9,000 BTU system. probably not. It gives me very little extra, for the additional expense. Would I recommend it overall. yes, it appears to be solid and well built and performs as expected.

I purchased this unit almost 4 months ago and have had it installed and running for about the last 2 months. I got it on sale for $2000 and at that price it is a phenomenal deal! There is no other 48k Btu/hr (4 ton) unit you can find even close to that price.

Having done the installation myself and even including the cost of all the ductwork, which I had to run in my house, it still cost me less than $5k and I now have a brand new central heating and cooling system that supplies every room in my house.

Like I said, I have only been running it for 2 months and primarily in the summer only, but I did have the opportunity in the late spring to run it in heating mode a couple of nights. Here are my thoughts about this unit so far.

1. The indoor unit (air handler) fans produce a decent amount of static pressure (about 0. 5″ at max fan speed) and therefore it is possible to supply an entire home with this one unit. My house is nearly 2000 sq.

ft. and this unit is ducted to 7 rooms in the home. I would say there is a total of about 150 feet of duct and this unit is able to cool each room. As long as the duct is sized CORRECTLY (not undersized) this unit can and will supply an entire home.

Just realize that you will need to either manually adjust register positions or install automatic dampers if you want automatic temperature control for every room. If your home is 2 floors you will also probably have to adjust register positions between heating and cooling mode due to temperature differences on the 2 floors (thats what I have to do).

2. Both units are extraordinarily quiet! When I first started them up I thought something was wrong, thats how quiet they are. The indoor unit is in my attic and cannot be heard from anywhere in the house at any time, even when it is on the highest fan speed.

The outdoor unit is behind my garage and also cannot be heard, at all, from anywhere in the house. I’m sure this is probably true for all modern heat pumps nowadays but I didn’t expect it to be as quiet as it is, especially coming from window A/C units.

3. In terms of operation it seems like this thing is running as well as any of the more expensive brands, like Mitsubishi. However, one area where this unit lacks is in the warranty. I believe the warranty period for this unit is significantly less than the more expensive brands, thats one big reason why these are so much cheaper.

Just realize that before you buy it. I believe they provide a 7 year warranty, Mitsubishi, LG and others might be 10-15. 4. There was some minor damage to my condensing unit during shipping, some of the sheet metal was dented in.

Luckily it did not damage any of the internal components, piping or coil. I contacted the seller (ComfortUp) about this immediately and got a response from them within 24 hours. They sent me a new part to replace the damaged one and said that if I had any problems with operation that they would send me a new unit! Great customer service which, frankly, I didn’t expect.

Big thumbs up for that! 5. The only big negative for me with this unit is in regards to the thermostat control. Unfortunately this unit cannot be put into an “automatic” mode (meaning it will run in either heating or cooling automatically, depending on what it needs to do).

It does have an automatic mode, but the temperature settings for that mode cannot be changed. That mode is designed for when you are gone from your house on an extended vacation, the unit will automatically run in heating or cooling to prevent the house from freezing or getting too hot.

But the temperature setting isn’t comfortable (I believe it is something like 62 for heating and 82 for cooling), you wouldn’t want to use this mode when you are home. Therefore, switching it between heating and cooling really needs to be done manually.

Its not a big deal for me because I have to make other adjustments when switching between heating and cooling, but it might be a deal breaker for some. If you want a unit you can set and forget (24/7 for the entire year) you have to look elsewhere, this unit requires manual adjustments.

I am looking forward to seeing how this unit runs through the winter here in upstate NY. This review could change significantly depending on that and how well this unit holds up over time. But so far I am extremely happy with it, particularly given what I paid for it!.

I’ve had this unit for 1 year now and it has performed exceedingly well. The one thing I recommend the manufacturer to change is the terrible not smart thermostat. I would love to have the thermostat wifi enabled from the beginning, but I was able to fix that with an infrared thermostat.

It keeps my house comfortable all day and night, and if I’m too hot/cold it does not take long for the unit to respond and adjust the temp. Overall, this was one of the best investments I put into my home.

Wonderful product, very well made. Install was easy in the ceiling of one story home, running the plumbing lines to the unit and the electrical. Used over half the power of my original heat and a’c. incredible.

Took quite a while to arrive at the store after ordering, but I expected that so no problem. There was two boxes, the outside unit and the indoor unit. Well packed, nothing was damaged even though the box looked like it gad been through a lot.

Instructions were good and I followed as close as possible. Biggest challenge is cutting the hole for the lines. Indoor unit was a bit heavy to set into place but managed to get it done. Some might have trouble with this part so good to have a buddy help out.

I cheated with the outdoor unit, I had a forklift available to set up a large paver for the unit to sit on, and also used it to place the unit on the paver. Refrigerant lines were easy to hook up and was careful to minimize bending as per instructions.

Only issue I had was I wanted to order the conduit kit for the installation, but they were not available through Home Depot Canada. I ended up ordering the kit through another supplier. (reason for a 4/5 star rating) The system took most of a day to install but I had a few interruptions during the day, so continuously working may take half a day, but I wasn’t in a hurry either.

System works great, it was set up to cool only one part of the house, but it’s actually cooling the whole house with the help of a fan strategically placed in a hallway. Set the temp at 22C and it hasn’t really been touched since (two months?).

Now we don’t want to go outside on hot days! Power consumption is less than the portable A/C unit we were using previously, and works so much better without all the noise. Haven’t used the wifi dongle/connection thing, don’t really have a need for it so far.

Normal weekend here, checked LP gas level, called to get it refilled on Monday and leave a check under the cover. My guy said just make it for $1200. Thus, I let it run out and called Ingrams Water and Air.

I’ve seen their ads about mini split systems. I got sales expert Paul Ralph. He quickly helped me with sizing and explaining where to place the air handlers. I put a 12k in my large kitchen and dining room.

The MrCool 12K could have been done in a few hours, but I stopped to double check myself and get the manual out. This was simple and as my son said, ” DUUHH, dad, it’s Plug and Play”. (Second two MrCool 9K zones went much quicker.

) With the central gas unit, you get a blast of hot air and then it fades. Not with the MrCool, even temp all over. The MrCool ap on my phone was very simple. Allows you to label each air handler and control temperature, mode (air or heat ), fan speed and louver direction.

VERY VERY quiet operation! English seems to be the first language of the very helpful employees. This has been very easy from the phone, then the front order pick up desk, and finally to the warehouse loading staff.

lets be honest here this is NOT a DIY system. its a 90% DIY system. if you are not an electrician then you are stuck. sure you can go to youtube school and watch tons of videos but never really find exactly what and how do install the electric properly.

I had to have somone do this for me. I dont see most people being able to wire this themselves especially in that Mr Cool does NOT provide any details or instructions on how do wire your unit. this is a major flaw and frankly a bit misleading.

over all the install was pretty simple and easy to follow. the tape they provide is not really tape and does not stay on well so you have to “tape” it to the lines and then tape it at the end. at least that is what i guess you are supposed to do as again no real instructions other then to tell you to tape the lines together.

my unit was over a week late and damaged when it arrived, I also received a frieght bill from Fed Ex! i was told it was free shipping (note sylvane did respond and said to send them the bill and it will be taken care of.

) unit does run well and my wife says its amazingly quiet outside and the inside blower is not that loud either. over all so far pretty good but need to get the rest of the insulation in the room before I can judge if this actually will cool the room this is an upstiars to my garage basically an 1800 sqft home with the upstairs wide open and we valted the ceiling which is about 12′ at center insulation on all walls but none on the ceiling and the Mr cool cant keep it cool in there.

set at 72 and in hte moring it was 74 and by noon 84. it does keep it from reaching the 112 it usually is but stays in the uper 80s all day. Ill update more when i get the insulation in this week. I gave it 4 stars because i believe once i get the insulation in the ceiling it will make a big difference.

Where do I even start ! I purchased this package and for some reason they didn’t ship out the install kit. 3 weeks and 5 phone calls later I finally got it. Got it installed and come to find out they ran out of the matching evaporators so they shipped a comparable one.

Well the contractor installed it thinking we were getting an upgrade (because comfortup said it was). But the to aren’t compatible so now we have to wait 2 more weeks to get a replacement and pay the contractor a second time to install the compatible condenser.

Witch by the way is mounted on the side of the building 15ft off the ground so I get to pay again for a crane. I want to be compensated for the scew up NIGHTMARE COMPLETE NIGHTMARE.

The side grills on this unit are very flexible. You can push the grill into the coil with just your thumb and the punched louvers have sharp edges on the inside. With the first unit I received the box looked fine but when I unboxed it I discovered the grill louvers had cut into the coil enough to create a leak.

The base of the unit was full of refrigerant oil and my leak detector went off where the coil was damaged. Alpine’s position initially was it was on me to file a claim with the freight company (R&L) as I signed for it with no damage indicated.

After some negotiation, however, they agreed to do the right thing and replace the unit at their expense. Still, it wasn’t fun to repackage the damaged unit and wait over a week for the replacement. Goodman really should spend an extra few dollars for four pieces of 1 inch styrofoam board between the inside of the cardboard container and the unit or upgrade to stronger grills.

When freight guys move around a 200 pound item they’re likely to sometimes just grab it by the sides and gorilla it around rather than use a pallet jack or fork lift. The replacement unit, which I unboxed still in the truck, had only very minor coil damage from the grill and no oil in the bottom.

It works great but I had to work to stop some nasty sheet metal buzzing with the top fan assembly. Once that was fixed it’s fairly quiet for an entry level unit and the cooling performance is great. It’s also pulling several amps less current than expected which means it will be cheaper to run.

This unit has a genuine Copeland US made scroll compressor as advertised. The components are high quality except for the steel cabinet. Beware, however, this unit has neither a high pressure cut off or a low pressure cut off.

So if the unit is run with little or no refrigerant due to an unknown leak the compressor will self destruct in just a few minutes.

I installed a Rheam condenser a year prior and the compressor went. Yes. I didn’t even make a full year on it. Rheam wouldn’t cover the warranty because I want a “Rheam licensed installer”, yet I hold an education and background in HVAC and was able to prove it was a faulty compressor.

So I decided to take a small gamble and try out the Goodman. I’m pretty impressed with the quality an way this condenser is built. It’s actually the same size and seer rating, yet so much quieter! I’m considering replacing my handler with a forced air furnace from Goodman now!.

Goodman products are always a good value, BUT, get a licensed, qualified contractor to install all products. These are not do it yourself projects. A contractor has the right tools and instruments to install properly.

And if it’s not installed by a professional, the warranty is void.

I bought this unit to replace the old unit in the room above my garage that I converted into a workout room. Because the wall sleeve and grille were already installed, the installation of the Amana unit was very easy.

I paired it with a WYZE smart thermostat so I can control it with Alexa, as well as monitor the temperature and humidity of the room. It’s not the quietest unit, but that doesn’t matter for my intended use.

So far, no condensate has dripped from the rear of the unit. It’s been recycled by the fan and dispersed across the cooling coils, making the unit even more effective and efficient. I’m very pleased with the unit and hope it lasts many years.

I use this to heat my great living room about 700 sq. ft. but have also found that it also kept my entire house of 1415 sq. ft. at a comfortable temp. of 71. 45%F when the temp is set at 67% and the outdoor temp is below the 30s%F outside! I love how it is so quiet in operating with two fans.

I find myself checking to see if it is working bc I can’t hear it! Wow!.

First and foremost excellent service,info,Company. Unit arrived timely with thru wall sleeve assembled and tough. This unit is very- very quiet. It draws 4. 8 amps running on high actual- 240 vac. The spec’s say 5.

8 amps so unit is even better than shown. So BTU per 1000 watts is. 5 amps the cost of 60 amp light bulb, so excellent. There are many- many good products at Alpine. TKS MGB RichL.

I purchased this unit to replace a 3ton unit that was 20 years old. Shipping was quick, it came via UPS truck service about a week after ordering, right in the beginning of the pandemic. Quality is very good.

MR COOL did not use cheap sheet metal. I am not a Hvac person by trade, and I did the install myself. it was not easy. The Mr Cool unit survived my mistakes. My last unit could not keep up during the peak of summer.

This unit has saved me hundreds so far this year alone. Everything listed on Ingrams site was marked in the box. Nothing was missing. It was packed pretty good. The bottom corner on the outside unit was dented, and that was the fault of UPS ramming pallet jacks into it and not paying attention.

Overall, very good unit for the price and very quick support from Ingrams. Every question I asked, was answered pretty quick. I will be ordering soon the Mr Cool multizone mini splits for the in-law suite we have and I will be ordering another unit like this for my downstairs area.

This is the second system I ordered in the past 5 years or so. I’m very pleased with my experience. I received the system in a few days of ordering. Packing was very well done and strong. No damage. I would highly recommend them and plan on using them again in the future if needed.

This unit replaced a 1st generation mr cool. This one is much more robust and quieter. Very simple to install.
