20 Best Heated Gloves For Skiing (2023 Updated)

My hands get cold easily. But because I spend so much time outdoors, including in the winter, I thought I would finally splurge and get heated mitts. When I first turned them on, angels started singing.

But I’ve quickly come to learn that while these are still better than unheated mitts, they really don’t do nearly as much as I thought they would. Here’s the good: * These are impeccably tailored mitts.

Materials (Gore-Tex fabric and leather) and stitching are second-to-none, as you might expect for the price. They are waterproof, windproof and have a very soft lining. Definitely no pinching or rubbing, and fits my hands well even though they are long and slender.

There are also nice touches like touchscreen-compatible thumb, the elastic leash, the pull loop and the carry bag. I wouldn’t do heavy manual labor with them, but they do seem as though they would take a fair bit of rough use without being damaged.

* They have reasonably good flexibility for being such beefy mitts, and are breathable/wicking. However, they are still not great for fine hand movements, but that’s to be expected. * Not too flashy – just a combination of black materials, and only a small logo to indicate they are heated.

The clip and zipper do not seem to bind or get in the way. * Easy buttons to turn on and off, and read the current temperature. Only very occasionally have I accidentally bumped a button to modify the temperature, so they are okay at incidental knocks.

Here’s the bad: * If you’re looking for significant warmth, you’re not going to get it. The instructions warn to be careful about not overheating your hands. Good luck with that. Even on days between 25-30 degrees F, I’ve felt the need to keep it at the warmest setting (red) the entire time, which is cautioned against in the instructions as only being for the coldest days.

They say to use medium (yellow) or low (green) for most of the time, but my hands did not feel at all warm. Part of the issue is that the heating area is only on the back of the hand, so it relies on radiant heat to reach the palm and fronts of the fingers.

Probably to prevent damage to the heating elements by gripping and pushing on objects, but it is noticeable where there is no heat. * The batteries do not last that long. On cold days, you may not get a full day of heat on medium (and certainly not on high).

The packaging states in multiple places that it needs recharging every 3-6 months as though that’s some sort of indication of heating capability. Don’t be fooled, these need constant charging and attention, which is stated in small print in the instructions: charge after EVERY USE.

The batteries are also uniquely shaped and wired, and are a bit challenging to pack back into the inner cuff of the mitts without significantly bending the internal connectors. I do worry a bit about long-term durability, but they have an “infinite guarantee” (i.

e. , forever) so I guess I’ll see if I ever need to use it. * There is no nose wipe on the glove. Probably because it would be hard to clean, but still feels like an omission. Here’s my conclusion: These truly do provide some benefit on cold days.

But I need to always make sure they are charged, and expect for them to only last half a day at most for how I use them (low intensity outdoor stuff). If you’re out adventuring, you may find them to be quite warm.

I don’t regret the purchase, but do not believe that they are worth the price for what they provide. However, they are guaranteed to last a very long time, so I’m going to certainly put that to the test.

I bought 4 pairs of these gloves hoping I would have the ultimate mountain glove for my family. I’ve been buying OR gear since the early nineties. The sold me on their rock solid guarantee and excellent construction, i still have a Goretex shell hat that is built like a tank and over 25 years old.

That brand loyalty lead me to hope these would be great. They are not. The construction quality is not great, two of the 4 pairs are failing (zipper has failed on one and the other the glove construction has just torn apart).

These are not warm gloves, and they will not keep you warm in the rated temperatures. The battery on the lowest setting does nothing, on medium or high it does something, but not a whole lot in cold weather and the battery is gone very quickly at high levels – it’s a lot of work for no gain in the weather you need it.

The glove cuffs are quite short so they let in a lot of cold air and can’t properly overlap a jacket. The batteries don’t last nearly long enough. They don’t have leather in the high wear places so if you’re doing anything active and are holding things with them expect them to get damaged real fast.

Given the cost I expected a lot. I bought these as a big and expensive Christmas gift, we’ve barely used them for a month in the cold weather they were designed for and now the return policy is past (no extensions for gifts apparently).

We’ll see if OR customer service stands up to the reputation they had before, will update when I hear back. I also have bought multiple pairs of their full goretex alti mitts – these despite being not heated (and honestly not up to their old construction quality) are much warmer and a better bet.

I bought my first pair on vacation because they fit perfectly and I couldn’t feel the seams while I had them on. Most thinner gloves have obnoxious seams that constrict my fingers and blood flow just enough to make my hands colder with gloves on than just in my pocket, but not these.

They are soft on the inside, windproof, and very water resistant. They were perfect for every day wear on vacation. Then when I got home I needed gloves that were dexterous and water resistant for doing some winter trail maintenance that involved lopping down scrub trees and bushes, and some chainsaw work.

They kept my hands pretty dry, fit well so they were dexterous, and showed minor wear on the palms. I don’t know if the seams are sealed, but in between being in snow, picking up wet logs, and my body putting off moisture, my hands were dry enough and warm, which was amazing.

My hands were a little damp after a few hours, but they were still warm which was amazing to me as my hands are always cold. I was so impressed with them that I bought another pair. I’ve worn them shooting on an outdoor range in cold weather, driving to and from work, and regular daily wear.

They are my favorite gloves and I’m leaving this review because I was on the website again looking to buy a couple more pair so I will have them for years to come should they change the style or discontinue them down the road.

I have not worn them for sedentary cold weather activities, but I would wear mittens for that type of activity.

I use these mittens when riding my saddle mule during the winter. The blaze orange makes me highly visible during hunting season. I also use them when walking my dogs and cold weather hiking. The mitten alone is plenty warm.

I cut out the inner glove because it was an over kill and made the glove too tight and bulky. There is no need for the warmers also, the mitten is perfect without any of these extras, my hands are never cold.

For other uses the warmer may come in handy, but the built in pouch seems unnecessary. The warmer could easily be placed directly in the mitten. With the inner glove omitted, these mittens are perfect! A great price!.

Came as ordered. Keep hands warm. Two hours on full heat level. Size fits small so go one size bigger. Good value!

Christmas of 2020, I bought my boyfriend a pair of needed gloves from a well known named sporting goods store that cost me a pretty penny. Much more than I wanted to. Well, those gloves fell apart after only 2 weeks while doing small things like walking the dog, driving or shoveling snow.

I promised to make it up to him, which I’m sure he forgot about. Not me! I can’t explain how much research I put into searching for the perfect gloves to make good on my promise! Each review lead me to the Men’s Apex + Etip gloves.

Kind of hard to ignore, right? Not only did they cost half of what I paid the year before, North Face helped me make my boyfriend a VERY happy man! So much so that he bought me the women’s version, and now we walk the dog longer, take longer runs.

and our hands stay dry and toasty. Thank you North Face for making two happy people even happier!.

These gloves (large) fit my *hand* just fine, and an XL that I tried in the store were a little large. But that’s not the problem. The wrist band felt a little tight going on, but I hoped that they would give a little with some use.

Not really. I arrived in Chicago today and had had to run a couple of errands downtown on foot. Then it started raining hard with true Chicago winds. Coming out of a building I was struggling to get them on, and finally gave up and stuffed them back into my pockets.

I think if you have narrow hands, these might work. But there is insufficient stretch in the wrist for normal male hands. By no stretch of the imagination should these be considered “unisex”. Be sure to give them a good fit in the store because they aren’t going to get any easier to put on.

Hopefully I can return these.

I have worn cold weather biking and so far so good. I find hand position dictates the warmth as the coils are on the back of hand. Therefore to get the true warmth I have to flex my fingers up. Only criticism so far as don’t notice much on my thumbs which are getting colder than rest of hands.

After a week of 40 minute commutes the batteries are still charged as using mostly on the lower setting.

I recently received these gloves and just in time since we had unseasonably cold temperatures in the Northeast AND 4+ inches of snow. Great conditions to test out my new winter gloves. I often get very cold hands in the winter and painful at times while I snowplow the driveway as a result getting these gloves was worth a try.

I was very happy with their performance. They have 3 different heating modes, red, white and blue (very patriotic). I set them for the toasty setting and they performed great. Not that I am looking forward to the cold weather but I think I will be better prepared.

They batteries are easily charged with the supplied charger. When done simply plug them into your gloves, slide the batteries into the pocket and zip them up. Then your good to go and no more cold painful hands.

I love these gloves! These make such a big difference with the cold weather. Shoveling snow or just walking outside my hands will be comfortably warm. The batteries charge very fast and once plugged in the life of the battery is very good.

I especially enjoy the different heat settings so it’s easily accustomed for different people and needs. The gloves themselves are very comfortable with a warm lining inside and heavy insulation and with the heating ontop of that these gloves make a HUGE difference in staying warm versus other gloves.

As it is starting to get much colder here in the northeast. I wanted a pair of gloves to keep my hands warm and this fit the bill. They are well designed and put together nicely. It is noted that you should charge the batteries in the gloves for at least 12 hours prior to the first use.

Outside of that, it takes around 5 hours for a full charge. Even on the lowest setting, the gloves provide enough warmth to shovel my driveway and clean off my car. It’s definitely worth the investment especially if you use those throw away hand warmers often.

Very nicely made. Removing 1 star because they have no heating element for the back of the hand, only the fingers are heated. Removing an additional star because these are no liners, they’re full-on gloves.

Or maybe Hestra meant that the liner is heated in these full-size gloves?.

I spend a lot of time outdoors and just cannot stand my fingers getting too cold. These heated liners work great. Good battery life and will keep you warm for a long time. I use these with a couple of different gloves, from lightweight work gloves to heavy lobster style mittens with no problem.

Frequently I bring them on long rides or hikes and only them when my fingers start getting too cold. You can also start out with the liners in and power off; this makes the glove warmer by virtue of the liner and you can turn the on when the cold sets in without having to take off you gloves.

My nephew had severe frostbite several years ago. He is 30 years old and has not found any gloves that keep his hands warm enough while he works outside. I found these gloves and purchased them for his Christmas gift.

He said for the first time he can work outside without having pain in his fingers! He wears them under his leather work gloves. They can be warn without gloves over them, however to keep them nice he prefers to use a leather glove over them.

I had considered purchasing heated gloves as I am avid outdoor person, but as an aging woman arthritis in my wrists and hands has made the cold an uncomfortable distraction. I was reluctant to buy heated gloves as most seemed bulky and as I x-country ski, snow shoe, and bike I felt they would be too restrictive.

These are wonderful! As they are advertised as liners they are thin and yet give off heat that reaches to all the places I need the warmth. I have a lightweight outer shell I can slip over them during wet weather.

I am so happy!.

The hardest part of cycling in the winter time was always my fingers freezing. I experimented with these gloves and found that after a week of below freezing riding it keeps my hands from getting cold.

I expected to feel heat while wearing them. I do NOT feel heat, but on the other hand (no pun inteneded), my hands do not feel cold at all. My rides are generally an hour or more. In the past, when I am done, my fingers would be numb for hours.

Now they are room temperature when I am done. The gloves are big, but not too bulky for manuevering my shifting. I am enjoying this piece of technology.

I bought these gloves for my husband and just gave them to him this weekend. He was very happy with them. One of the reasons I bought the premium gloves is because they have three temperature settings which he really likes.

However the main reason was because they have provide direct heat to his thumbs. He has pretty large hands and wasn’t sure the XL would fit but they did. He also measured his hand using the guide on the box and also measured using the guide provided by Cabelas/BassPro Shop.

Both confirmed that XL was the correct size.

I took a gamble on these gloves and bought them on a whim. I knew the name but not the item. But, of course, who can pass on a sale, right? The gloves were marked down because they were an open box product.

And the price was more than half off. So I bought them. When they arrived I opened the box, and saw the gloves were still sealed in plastic. So these gloves were brand spanking new. I charged them up overnight and tested them when we started to experience some cool weather.

I started on low but this took far tong to come on. I finally figured out that it’s ideal to start with these gloves on high (red light) and leave them on red for about 5 minutes to get nice and warm.

They warm up very quickly on the high setting. Once they are warm, I shift them down to the blue (medium) or green (low) setting. It all depends on how cold it is. But I will say this. These gloves are awesome! They really do keep my fingers warm.

And, unlike many other glove manufacturers, these gloves have FAR infrared heat. This means the heat is a deep, penetrating heat. And I find the even though the wires don’t encompass the entire hand, they warm up my whole had quickly because once your fingers and the top of your hands are warm, this warmth travels througout the entire glove.

Now can I say again how awesome these gloves are? They are awesome!!! Thanks again warming store. These are my first pair of electric gloves and you didn’t disappoint me. Oh, and everyone sees the glowing light and has to ask me about them.

I’ve been wearing these glove liners as gloves for years. I have a few pairs I could not survive without them. I have serious Raynauds and other auto immune diseases and my fingers turn white then some other colors and my hand become useless.

I live in Pasadena where it does get cold and we’re in a very cold apt. I wear them a lot everyday inside and out. I always have another pair charged up and ready to go when the first pair’s battery wear down plus I have multiple backup batteries being charged.

I try to keep a stock of gloves because occasionally they’re out of my size M as the winter goes on. They really get noticed since people notice the lights and most people wouldn’t be wearing gloves at the temperature I do.

I must say they’re a conversation piece and my standard comment is “I light up a room. ” I’ve been needing electric gloves for a really long time and thru the years many different styles for other brands that have come and go but these are definitely the best! NO I don’t work for the company although I sound like I do.

I even need them in the summer.

Summary:- These are cotton liners, not gloves. Use a wind proof mitten to cover. – If you are careful about power level, batteries last long enough for most outdoor activity, whether skiing, hiking or walking the dog.

– Good customer service dealt promptly with an initial issue. – I will plan to buy these every year or two as they will probably wear with my heavy use. A lot cheaper than chemical warmers I previously used daily.

I’ve used these glove liners for a month or so now under numerous conditions and think they are a great find for those whose hands generate almost no heat and therefore are cold even in down mittens (that’s me).

I use these cotton electric hand warmers under a pair of gortex mittens (lightly lined) and have found them terrific for staying warm when walking the dog for 90 minutes in mid teens and skiing for 4 hours in the 20s.

The three levels of heat allow me to modulate temperature as my core warms up through activity. Battery life is an issue for all devices like this. I use the high setting only for a couple of minutes to get things going, and then reduce to low.

At low setting, I have gotten more than 5 hours out of the batteries. On high, they run down in less than two hours. I keep them on the charger in the mudroom whenever not in use, and that practice supports a lifestyle that is outside for half the day.

I would have rated this product with five stars but for an initial problem with one of the battery sets – it would not hold a charge. The Company provided excellent support, however. In a couple of emails, they verified my problem and sent a new battery set at no charge.

I am thrilled with these gloves. I use them for free style cross-country skiing where you need quite a bit of dexterity to grip the poles. I wear them under lobster claw mittens and am still able to feel the poles.

These will get a lot of use. They have reduced my anxiety about getting out there on days when the temperature nears zero. I have recommended them to several of may friends. I probably could have gone a size smaller (extra small), but they still work.

First, I deducted a star for receiving my highly priced gloves with no batteries to power them. I also have a co-worker who’s the reason I purchased these and he has experienced problems with both the glove and batteries.

As for my review, THESE GLOVES ARE FANTASTIC!! I’m sure more of my co-workers will be buying them. (Hint, get your customer service issues together). I operate a reach forklift in a cold storage facility and I purchased these for the time I spend in the freezer.

Our freezer typically operates between -10 and -30 degrees and these things work like a champ!! The gloves feel sturdy yet fully flexible. Ergonomically I’m able to utilize all functions of my lift with comfort.

So far I’ve managed to keep the gloves on the low setting (with borrowed batteries from my co-worker) and work up to 6 hours in comfort with roughly half the battery remaining when I’m done. I also wear these in the cooler which is usually around 30 degrees.

I don’t have to turn them on in the cooler as the insulation and build quality is enough to keep my hands warm.

I work in -10 freezer driving a forklift doing replenishment. The gloves are very comfortable. Keep my hands warm. the finger tips start wearing out after about 4 months. Overall a good pair of gloves because without them I wouldn’t be working in a freezer.

3rd time wearing them the zipper on the left glove stuck in the closed position. Finally had to use a razor knife to cut the zipper out. 4th time out one battery would turn on, turn on the glove and immediately shut off.

Faulty battery as the glove worked fine with the other battery. No instructions, no idea as to how long the batteries would last, etc. Don’t waste your money.

Ladies, I’m gonna tell you that these gloves are the coziest, softest, high quality, innovative, durable, comfortable, and reliable gloves I’ve ever owned. I recently purchased a pair of women’s Nike gloves from Dick’s that had the ability to use touch screen devices while wearing them, and at first I thought they were great.

They’re awful. Especially after buying these North Face Osito gloves. The UR technology in these gloves is truly what makes them better than the rest in my opinion. All TEN fingers AND palms can be used on a touchscreen; unlike the 2 little sewn on patches at the tips of the thumb and pointer finger on other gloves.

Putting innovation and technology aside, just the warmth and softness of these gloves could sell them alone. I love that they’ve got a “stiffness” to them, almost like they’re giving your hands and fingers a big bear hug, lol.

Donc en utilisant l’indice 3 on ne bénéficie que de 2h30 d’autonomie. Vraiment déçu.
