20 Best Heated Gear For Motorcycles (2023 Updated)

I have two First Gear heated jacket liners. The 75 watt and the 45 watt. I use the 45 watt on my 250, which has a very low-power stator. Well, over Covid I got a bit fatter, and neither of my Firstgear jacket liners fit.

I had the largest size firstgear made, which wasn’t big enough. So I went for a venture heat liner, as they looked to use plenty of heating wire and had a similar integrated controller button. It even uses the same power plug as the first gear.

Unfortunately, the Venture Heat at maximum output is not as warm as the 45 watt First Gear liner, much less the 75 watt liner. The first gear at maximum will roast me if I’m sitting at a light. This jacket is comfortably warm at a light.

At speed, without a windshield, the first gear will be somewhat cold on the front, hot on the back, and will burn my arms if I’m not wearing a long sleeved shirt. The Venture heat never gets hot enough to burn my arms, and it doesn’t heat as effectively.

My front will be cold, my back will be cold, and my arms will be cold. It takes the edge off for sure, but on a 42 degree day the first gear is the superior choice. That said, the Venture Heat comes in big mens sizes, and the First Gear does not.

If I’d never had a first gear liner I’d think this was the bomb. But it’s just not as effective. It is comfortable and fits well, and is subdued enough to use as a stand-alone windbreaker. The cords store in an internal pocket just like the first gear.

I’m going to keep this and continue to use it because it fits, but because it’s not as effective I have to layer up more which is not my favorite.

This runs in a man’s size so I first Ordered a size Medium then returned it because it was way to big for me, then I bought the Small and its still a little big but it fits under my motorcycle jacket.

oh my goodness this jacket liner was amazing on my trip. I wore a tank top then put on this venture heat jacket liner then my protective motorcycle jacket (don’t turn the jacket on high if your not wearing a long sleeve underneath the heated jacket liner, I had slight burn marks on my arms but I thought that was GREAT because i know it works amazingly!)Thats is exactly what I wanted! I want something that will keep me warm while on a motorcycle, I will be telling everyone to get this venture heat jacket liner for their bikes! Im a woman, I wear a size M coat/jacket, my bust is 36C.

The size small venture heat jacket is still a little big but I don’t want to have to return it again for a smaller size, so Im keeping it. We rode in 38 degree weather yesterday then drove up in the snow for about 8 hours I was toasty warm, I also had heated gloves too! I did keep the heat on high most of the trip.

as soon as you hit the button to turn on the jacket it is instant heat, its amazing! I used all three settings on the heated jacket throughout our 11 hour road trip and will not purchase anything else.

Next I want to purchase the venture heat pants and socks. It’s AMAING!!!!! for cold days/mornings/nights. the jacket is thin but warm even if not turned on. It is thin enough to fit in our packed saddle bags easily if it warms up outside and you want to take a layer off.

as soon as they get bigger sizes I will buy one for my husband and father in law.

This doesn’t come with a battery and the the company venture heat doesn’t have any in stock. Very disappointing. Fortunately you can purchase one like this. I ordered 2 batteries they should arrive this Friday.

Aside from not including batteries, the garment seems to be made of quality materials (quality enough) and it actually kept me warm and comfortable in 25 -38 degrees f. It is somewhat breathable unlike my heated vest which trapped all my body heat inside my windproof outer shell and made me sweat too fast.

You definitely do not want to be sweating in freezing temperatures. It is meant to be a jacket liner but it does just fine on its own and it even looks nice.

As another reviewer mentioned, this thing has hotspots on the neck and kidneys. I usually put on a shirt, then an REI hiking/skiing sweater with a high neck and zipper in front, an underarmor baclava that I just pull all the way down into my neck.

I then wear a jacket over it to keep the warmth in and cut down on wind noise. I use the simple switch, which works fine for me. I have a touring windshield that keeps the wind out of my hands and shins.

I also have lined overpants (non-heated) and boots, of course. I’ve used this setup in 30’s and 40’s weather, and it’s comfortable. I always get asked, “aren’t you cold?” as I see people shivering when I’m just fine.

It would be nice to not need the sweater layer, but maybe next year when I can afford something pricier.

Run big and long, I wish I would have gone a size down. I normally wear an XL, but it’s big on my. Neck size also runs large. First time I’ve ever had that! For this price point I would expect a few more features.

Like being able to close the neck tight and put it tight at the belt line. Also, the cable connections are on the inside? Would be much better if they where on the out side! Liner is very warm! even with the extra space.

It does breath well! That was one of my worries, but it does well and breathing and blocking the wind!.

It works great, but we didn’t realize there is more than one cord to plug in, we had a vest first with the Black cord so when we got the liner we plugged the black cord, and it didn’t work until I investigated inside the zipped pouch and found more cord.

I didn’t notice any instructions about the colors of the cord. Most 0f the info that came with was about battery operated gear, nothing about 12V.

These gloves are well made. They run a little smaller than I expected so if you are in the mid to high range of measurement definitely go for the next size up. It is not cold enough yet to test the battery heating time.

I would have bought the 3 amp hour battery but only the 2 amp hour battery was available. I like that the gloves van be connected to the motorcycle battery if a glove battery fails.

Hey guys these gloves are the bomb! Warm and comfortable even when there not turned on! Gerbing rocks. Maybe I will check there heated jackets out next.

The G4’s replaced my 5 year old G3’s which were damaged through my own fault. I already had the heat controller and wiring so it was simply a case of plugging them in. Heated gloves are superior to heated grips in every respect.

The whole hands stay warm which means the rest of the body stays warm and gives enhanced control of the motorcycle in cold weather. The leather is incredibly soft and the gloves don’t feel at all bulky.

Maintenance is simply giving them the occasional wipe with Mother’s Leather Conditioner. Competitively priced and wouldn’t use anything else in cold weather.

Second pair that I have owned and they really help – but they are limited to 135 degrees. I expected more warmth. They do keep your fingers comfortable – just not toasty.

Great gloves. I ride bike as daily driver. Plug up while bike warms up a few minutes. ride the 30 minutes home 70 miles mph at 35 degrees , get home hands are fine. No cold air going up sleeves. Would buy again.

Very comfortable gloves. I did find the thumbs a tad long for me but we are all built different. Most brands I wear XL but took a L in these and they fit perfect. I was towards the maximum size for a large on the size chart, I am glad I didn’t upsize to XL or they would have been too big.

Heat seems to be about on par or even better than with my First Gear (warm n safe) gloves but without the need for a bulky controller. I only have had a chance to use them once so far and it was 6C (43F) out.

I had them set at 50% with my heated grips turned off and my hands stayed warm. They are much less bulky than any of my other cold weather gloves and make it easy to use switches on the bike. The touch screen pad is where your finger print is, not on the tip of the glove which I find a bit awkward and less precise to hit a small target.

The cord exits on the outside of the rear skirt, it would have been nicer if they exited on the inside of the gauntlet skirt so you don’t need to loop the cord back around to get to the cord coming out of your jacket sleeve.

Hopefully they last as I am quite pleased with them even if they have a couple of minor quirks I mentioned. The pluses far outweigh the minuses. (especially at the great price I got mine for).

They definitely keep you warm and dry without turning them on. I needed the heat on a freezing ride across state lines. Had them attached to the Dual Jacket and would not power on. Jacket was working fine powered by the bike, but the gloves did not want to power on.

Checked all wire attachments but could not find the problem. Worst ride for the not to work. Had to stop and grab a hotel bc the cold was unbearable without functional heated gloves. My body was warm except my hands which is huge to operate a motorcycle.

Not the best $200 investment I’ve ever made. The socks don’t work either. annoying!.

Got these 12v ones to hook up to the jacket. Had to try XXL because XL touch short in fingers and tight across knuckles. Shipping was fast but had to return, as I feared, XXL just too big. Have to stay with the XL hope the short middle finger doesn’t tear out of these expensive gloves.

Should be nice n toasty once I get them hooked up though.

Daily commuter Southern California. High desert to Los Angeles morning commute; reverse way home. About a month use. Mid 40s degree F most morning commute and the gloves keep fingertips neutral feeling.

Had few rides below 40 (32 one morning) and the fingertips do feel a hint of coldness while glove warm up to temp. Average 90 to 100 mph on 2018 naked R6. No guard on clip-on to cope with wind. The rheostat temperature control setting is a joke.

I leave it on the highest setting, and the gloves take about 10 minutes to get up to temp. Rheostat needs more power to get gloves up to temp faster. The highest setting does not make hands sweat but warmer setting may be needed for prolong rides below 40 degree F, and would be nice for warmer than neutral feeling finger tips.

Almost feels like the gloves are doing nothing at all.

Warm, used down to 7degF for an hour ride. Size is tricky, needed medium to get over hand but if fingers are slim you need to hold your fingers under the levers to get contact with the glove. Index finger doesn’t get warm enough.

Overall they do the job and extned my riding season below the freezing temps. The controller modulates voltage, so straight connection from glove to power is needed below 40degF, at least for me.

The gloves fit well, it’s comfortable, the quality is good and they work great. Warm hands commuting in 25 degree weather at 70mph. The only negative I have is with the location of the cable. The cable to plug into jacket liner is located high on the inside of gauntlet with not enough slack.

When trying to get the gauntlet over sleeve of outer jacket, the cable location and short length makes it difficult and doesn’t allow it to be pulled up as far as it should. It also makes the rain gaiter useless.

Went with the largest size currently available – 3XL and although the sleeve and chest fit were suitable, the jacket was way too short for 6’4″ me. Contacted the manufacturer about SIX TIMES in total (1x web portal, 1x chat, then 4x phone) before I was finally able to get my question answered – was this jacket intentionally designed to be short due to seated position on motorcycle (it came to immediately below my navel)? Eventually got to speak with someone on my last phone call, and confirmed my suspicions that this jacket was not for me.

I also learned that they don’t make these jackets for taller people. So I had to return it. Am grateful for the Fortnine return policy. In addition to there not being a version for taller humans, two major NEGATIVES of this jacket is that there were no instructions included at all, and although it’s a 12v jacket, there were no cables provided to hook it up to the bike.

NONE. Any cables required to get power to this jacket must be purchased separately. Oh, and if you have an existing SAE pigtail, forget about using that one since this jacket uses a proprietary connection.

You have to use an adapter (sold separately) though I’m sure they sell a pigtail with their propietary connection. Want to be able to turn the jacket on/off as necessary? Sold separately. Only plus I saw with this jacket was that it apparently pairs up with heated gloves, but since I didn’t get any instructions, I don’t know how.

I cannot speak to the heating effectiveness of the jacket as I never got to try it. Unfortunately the delay by the manufacturer responding to my length question took up most of the return period and the absence of instructions meant that while I could have GUESSED what to do with the (sold separately) adapter and extension/on-off cord I ordered, I chose not to as that could have caused damage to the jacket or my bike if I did something wrong.

I ended up purchasing a different jacket from my local motorcycle shop, and that one came with both an on/off switch AND a nice long SAE pigtail, all in the one price.

Just replaced my old jacket and new one didn’t come with a liner. Could have hone with a wool sweater but then its pulling it on. off and having to stop to do that. Figured with this I can pit heat on in the am, turn it off as it warms up and can open jacket vents as it warms before I finally have to pull over to take it off.

HOLY BBQ Batman! On max this thing will cook a wild boar! I could see using it on a snowmobile at -50C. At 5C I give it 4 clicks and it warms everywhere but the forearms especially, and the warmth on my back feels just like I’m riding on a +25C day.

I only regret not getting one of these years ago. Sizing: I got the medium which is for chest size 41 to 43. My chest is 43 and it fits slightly snug and I’m pretty lean. I think size M would be ok up to maybe 35.

9 inch waist. If you’re 36+ I would suggest buying L.

Overall very happy, especially for what you get for what you pay. My previous heated jacket liner, Gerbing, was hotter. But todays prices are too expensive. Verry happy to find Gears alternative, I tried it two time for a one hour ride at 4 degres celcius.

I was okay. could have used more heat if ride was longer. Next time i might ride with an extra layer for those low temperture.

I commute every day about an hour each way, and find on mornings that the temp is below 10 degrees I get very cold. I tried this jacket and glove liners this morning when it was 6 degrees and Holy mama was I warm! I started out with it on the highest setting but I was roasting in minutes and had to turn it down a couple notches.

Very pleased with this, product and happy I made the investment. I’ll definitely be able to ride a lot more :).

The weather has warmed up so no chance to test it; however the fit is perfect. I have trouble finding long sleeve articles due to long arms and was quite concerned. Sleeve length and waist height are prefect, as recommended by the sizing charts.

Now to wait for the colder weather. Only 4 stars because I have yet to test it in cold temperatures.

Test them on two rides of one hour and a half with temperatures around 0º and -2. These gloves really made it possible otherwise would get to the point of being dangerous. So far so good. Warm, well-made, great fit, waterproof, and nice design to store the batteries.

Also comes already with all the adapters for every different electrical plug, in case of travel can be helpful.

So far I am very satisfied. Super fast delivery, good fit, fine materials, fast heating of the hands, in short, super satisfied.

3. Les batteries tiennent longtemps. Elles tiennent 2 heures facilement. 4. Le design est parfait. 5. L’application permet d’avoir une vue sur le niveau de batterie et de régler plus facilement la température.

6. Temps de charge trop long. 3 heures 7. Quand les batteries se mettent en mode eco (quand elles sont presque plates) elles chauffent plus si fort. 8. L’application a un peu déconné au début. Problème de courte durée.

J’ai supprimé les gants et les ai synchronisés à nouveau. Bref, je suis très content de ces gants. J’avais des gants racer avant et j’en étais très déçu. C’est le jour et la nuit entre les deux produits.

TranslateShow in original languageJ’ai parcouru à peu près 1000 km avec et sous le froid c’est parfait même par -3° à 30° température programmée j’ai a peu près 1h30 d’autonomie. J’ai choisi les gants à ma taille mais je sens quand même bien la résistance sur l’index et le majeur, j’espère que dans le temps mes doigts ne l’abiment pas.

Le capteur d’enfilage main gauche à des fois des petits soucis de reconnaissance surement du aux épaisseurs. J’ai comme seul soucis réellement un effet désagréable quand je remet les gants le soir après une bonne averse le matin, ils sont tout humides à l’intérieur comme si on les avait aspergés de vapeur d’eau alors que mes mains sont sèches quand je les retire.

Néanmoins comparés à mes gants hiver sans chauffe je n’arrive plus avec les doigts bleu. Avis donc un peu mitigé on verra dans le temps.

Avec les ASO EVO plus besoin d’appuyer sur des boutons en roulant pour régler la température on les paramètres via l’application et tout se fait automatiquement lorsqu’on enfile les gants, ya pas plus simple.

Les batteries sont très fines et ne gênent pas contrairement à mes anciens gerbings. 2 bémols toutefois : – la raclette anti pluie si elle a le mérite d’exister est beaucoup trop courte pour être efficace – il arrive parfois que les gants ne s’allument pas et il faut alors déconnecter les batteries et les reconnecter pour que tout rentre dans l’ordre.

A vérifier à chaque fois avant de partir pour éviter les mauvaises surprises.
