20 Best Heat Shrink Wire Connectors (2023 Updated)

These have been consistent in quality and crimp performance. Pictured is a 10 AWG wire crimped with the Ancor single crimp crimp tool before and after heating the shrink insulation. The performance for 10 AWG wire was great, the performance with 12 AWG was slightly less, but still reliable and secure.

You can see that the insulation is thin where it has been crimped, but it does remain intact and completely sealed after applying heat and shrinking the insulation. The after photos show that the thin area created when crimping maintains plenty of thickness and the presence of adhesive all the way around both ends of the heat shrink.

After needing to trim some insulation back on one and cutting deeper than intended I can verify that these are tinned copper. The heat shrink is thicker than many I have used and it shrinks slowly making it easy to produce a secure seal and consistent thickness all the way around the connection.

As many wires will have different outside diameters, I will point out that my results were produced using Ancor brand wire as well. I did have a few components that needed to be spliced and obtained quality results with those wires as well.

I use heat shrink fittings exclusively. No automotive crimp on junk. Unfortunately, Ancor is far too often sloppy in the manufacturing process and this costs me time. I once bought a 100-pack of their blue butt connectors only to find that the internal metal sleeves were not seated.

Every time I insert a wire the sleeve would slide out. But the big problem with this particular product is that the heat shrink insulation often is extended over the ring. This makes good contact impossible.

I need to cut the excess away with a razor blade in order to insure good contact. See attached photo. I love heat shrink terminals but would like to find a better manufacturer.

ANCOR is the recognized leader in precision wire, terminals, and related hardware. The materials are better, the adhesive is better, and the Chinese corporate terminals cannot compete. Even though some ANCOR items are sourced from China now, their strict QA and specifications are maintained.

They are exactly as described and will work for most automotive needs. They are NOT high dollar replacements but will work on your car. I will be using these on a boat which is a little more demanding that auto connectors and from the look and feel should hold up on the lake.

I dont have access to salt water to prove any issues but considering the connectors the manufacture utilized, these should hold up just as well or even better since they are heat shrink. It amazes me that boat manufactures scrim on such things but considering how many are on a boat this means high dollar.

Even I am concerned about the cost of them which is why I seek for a good cheaper alternative. Overall I am happy with the purchase and if they dont work for the boat, I do have plenty of auto needs over the next few years.

Received my order all in one day. Heat shrink tubing that was pre cut length cut down on waist , Heat shrink connectors save on time and reduce extreme weather / conditions failure , Lug cable connector kits that were purchased covered everything we work with.

These are some high quality wire crimpers. I really like the interchangeable heads for different types of terminals. Owning an automotive repair shop and restoring my own car on the side, these are leaps and bounds above any crimpers I’ve ever used.

When splicing wire in a wet environment I prefer to use butt splice connector with a considerable length of heat shrink tubing pulled over the splice after crimping. Unfortunately, my tool bag was out of splices that day when installing a replacement bilge pump.

A quick trip to the local WM yielded a small pack (4) of heat shrink splices for an unreasonable price of around a buck apiece. I guess I’m used to buying in bulk with this sort of item, but even $0.

50 would seem inflated to me. As far as performance is concerned, I had trouble with one of the crimps holding and the seal of the tubing is questionable after heating with a heat gun. I will not be using these again and certainly will avoid using WM for this type of item in the future.

Very well made connector. Shrinks and glues as it should. Use proper crimping tool for all heat shrink connectors and terminals.

I’ve never been a big fan of butt connectors because they can pull apart if not crimped just right. BUT. These butt connectors are the best! Easy crimp connections as usual. THEN. pass a torch or heat gun over them and they shrink down around the insulation.

AND. the hidden glue is activated. You can see the semi-flexible glue come out of both ends of the connector. So the connection is perfectly sealed and water-tight. The two wires are NOT going to pull out of these connectors.

This kit covers a wide range of applications. A must have if you do minor repairs to major projects. Very well designed and excellent quality.

Very reasonable price and it works great. I’m building an experimental airplane and your product solved many of my electrical connector needs.

The red will allow you to put up to a 14 AWG into it, but it is supposed to be a 18 to 22(?) AWG. Worked nicely on trailer lights because my primary wire is 14 but the wires from the light were 18. However on shrinking the tube with my heat gun, I could not get it to fully hold the 18 AWG wire.

Thankfully I was able to still put a heat shrink tube over it to make it waterproof. I also had to “double” up the 18 to get it to hold. I’ve heard of the Chinese wire gauge but haven’t seen a comparison chart, maybe this is the reason?.

This is a simple solution to ensuring you get a solid connection. Very easy to use with a pocket lighter doing all the hard work. The lighter melts the solder and shrinks the plastic wrap, you rotate the wire.

10 times the seal around the wires compared to traditional electrical tape. Soldered connection is provides a more uniform energy transfer.

These shrinkable connectors make joining two wires easy and almost foolproof. Crimping the correct stripped wire size into the middle ferrule and then applying heat to the hollow ends allows an almost watertight seal and also provides grip to the wires connected.

Until a few years ago you had to search hard to find these available outside of professional shops, now all us handymen have them at our disposal. And Harbor Freight makes it easy in offering the correct sizes and at a conservative cost.

I keep a kit full at all times for repairs and improvements. If you have to join two or more wires because of length, obstructions, or additions instead of using one complete length, these are the way to go.

Durable, strong and watertight with a “grip” on the insulation jacket of the wires you are joining. Almost foolproof. Much better than just a Western Union splice and electrical tape or wire nuts.

I tried these out. have not figure them out. To much heat solder runs out before heat shrink , shrinks up. Get the heat shrink down then the solder does not stick to the wires. I tried flux ,then added connector still no luck.

anyone got any ideas ? Will not buy again.

I bought these because they looked like the same thing as the more expensive ones. When I started to use them the shrinkable plastic took to much heat and the insulation on the wire started to melt. Then there is the solder that took more heat so now the plastic is melting and the solder starts flowing out of the splice.

When I first tired to use these I used a crimping tool that was too sharp and cut the soft rubber shrink tube. I also wasn’t able to get the tubing to shrink using a hair dryer. However, once I used the proper crimping tool and a heat gun, these connectors were great, easily creating a secure, waterproof connection.

Good connectors; just need to watch out for the crimped wires slipping left/right in the heat shrink prior to being shrunk. Also recommend a wiring test before sealing it with heat because otherwise you’ll have to cut the wire if a repair is needed.

Used for bilge pump install.

Ancor makes great products. These are no different. I used these with the Ancor duplex wire to help wire my entire boat. Probably used around 25 of these to extend leads and such and have had zero issues with them.

They crimp great, hold the wire tight and have had no corrosion issues especially with using the heat shrink.

They do function as described. Solder does take longer than I thought to start melting. Tried this with a heat gun, lighter, and a butane pencil torch. My only concern is the solder does not melt all the way into the wire fibers as much as if you were to hand solder separately.

I had a rc plane that I needed to change the motor on. The wires were so small there is no way I could solder them. I found this kit on Amazon with many different size connectors. The smallest one was just what I needed.

Strip the wire ends, put a wire in each end of the connect, add some heat and it solders itself and also becomes waterproof. Great idea, wish I had thought of it first!.

I had also bought the tinned 16GA wire needed to make up a ground connection directly from the battery to our bilge pump. The “tinned wire I was charged for turned out to not be tinned and just straight copper wire.

The bilge is not the place for straight copper wire. But there I was with my “tinned” wire paid for but without the tin.

Normally I buy these online for 1/4 WM price but greed and stupidity always causes me to be 1 pc. short. So the trip to WM. Please do yourself a favor and use a proper crimp tool with these. You cannot use pliers or even crimpers not designed for heat shrink terminals.

Was very impressed. Crimp metal inside was thicker than I anticipated – didn’t destroy itself when crimped. Created solid connections. Heat shrink worked very well – long enough to really seal things up.

I just wish they sold them in quantities greater than 10!! I ended up buying 10 packs to finish my project.

I really just needed some 10-12ga butt connectors but the added watertightness didn’t detract from what I needed them for. They work as expected, joining two pieces of wire together in a solid, electrical and mechanical way.

I work with outdoor equipment of all kinds and there are times that you need a good watertight connection. These are the ticket to that! Great price and most places charge double or more for the same things.

We were adding some lights to our razor. My son was adding speakers to his car. The package of connectors has 3 different sizes which is great for all our different projects. They are very easy to use.

Easy to crimp and then to heat shrink around them. It says it has a sealant inside to protect from moisture which is great when we are trail riding and don’t have to worry about shorting out the light we just put on.

Nice sized package to keep around, not too many but enough for a couple projects. I do like that they are color coded for the different sized wires. Directions on back for those who are not 100% sure how to use them.

Luckily I had someone that knew how.

These are my favorite brand of heat shrink ring terminals out there. They are a little bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for when it comes to wiring. If you want something that is going to last a very long time in some of the most harsh conditions then these are the terminals you need to buy.
