20 Best Headset For Landline Phone (2023 Updated)

I have just finished testing my new Sennheiser SC 60s, the sixth headset I have purchased in two years, and (at least on day one) they are far and away the best I’ve ever purchased for under $40. Specifically: * In music playback, they have a subjectively full-frequency response (caveat, this was not evaluated with equipment and, like everyone over 25 I do not have full-frequency hearing).

* Sound isolation is moderate, as expected from on-ear rather than over-ear headphones. I wouldn’t use these for high-fidelity music reproduction. * Voice recording quality, when mic boom is positioned just outside outer corner of the mouth, was excellent both for recording and over a JoinMe web conference.

* Microphone noise cancellation is outstanding. During playback of a voice recording made three feet away from a fan, voice was clear, but close listening was necessary to hear the sound of the fan. Recording while one foot from the fan, with wind noise plainly audible during the recording, was reduced at playback to just a mild and undistracting sound audible behind the clear voice.

* Microphone directionality permitted loud typing away on a noisy keyboard to be only barely audible behind a clear voice during playback. * Comfort is good. These headphones sit gently on the ear, but I would not want to wear them all day.

* Compatibility: Headset was instantly recognized by Windows 10 computer; no other platform tested. Caveat: While these are the best headphones I have ever used for web conferencing, I don’t know how long these qualities will hold up over time.

I plan to update this evaluation in a year.

The audio output from these is nothing to write home about. The best I can say about it is that human speech is perfectly clear, if a bit low quality. Don’t even bother trying to listen to music or play competitive games with them.

The microphone is something else though. My coworkers can hear me perfectly clearly, and any noise or conversation in the background may as well not exist. Furthermore, these have outstanding range. I can go anywhere in my (admittedly small) house and the conversation is totally unaffected.

I can connect to a call on my computer upstairs, and then walk downstairs to loudly do dishes, and no one can tell the difference. Since the product page was a bit unclear to me I am going to explain the interface a bit.

This is a DECT headset, which basically means that it pairs to a special base station rather than using Bluetooth. You then plug the base station into a computer via a USB 2. 0 type A cable. It’s as simple as that.

It even handles KVM switching fairly painlessly (you have to click the button on the ear every time you switch, but that’s all).

For the price, that is. I might not recognize this except that I’m doing some voice recording and decided to put it to the test against two dynamic studio mics and three lav mics. Of course the Shure SM58 and ‘7B are way ahead.

I tried three lavs and hoped it would be at least average. I used the Rode mic that comes with their wireless kit, 1 $15 TRS condenser mic and a Tascam TRS mic for the DR10L. The Sennheiser was at the bottom.

There is no depth or fullness to the recording. I had hoped it would be as good as my cheap lav mic and maybe like a modest price Rode or Tascam as above but its nowhere close. I had hoped that I could use it for a bit of podcasting as a convenient substitute dragging along a studio mic but it sounds really bad.

I did not try and equalize it. Perhaps that might help but I did not have the time nor experience to play with it much. The earphones are OK but a little quiet. Overall, it is compact and folds up nicely but it’s only good for voice dictation operations and less accurate than a good mic.

It’s about as good quality as using my computer internal mic or maybe not even that good. Overall, for the Sennheiser brand and for $60, I expected better. I’d say it ranks at a value of perhaps $20.

I had really hoped that for the money I would get a nice mic but came nowhere close. If I have time, maybe I’ll post some comparison audio tracks and tape a real lav mic to the headset mic for comparison.

I bought it for my wife’s office. Her calls swap between her Bluetooth phone and computer. This single device does a great job of making that transition seamless and simple. It has a ridiculously long range and she’s able to do simple tasks around the house while in meetings.

Sound quality is great. Husband can listen to the TV at his normal level and my calls are not affected. Distance works good for my use.

Reception range is good. but not 100 meters. It is almost 50 meters without walls interfering. Sound quality is excellent in the reception range. Charging stand is good. The fit in my and other people’s ear is not very good.

These are the behaviours I have with BOTH headsets1 When on a PC call any sound from the mobile can fade out mute the PC audio and fade it back in, you dont get it over the top which wouldnt be so bad but the fading time makes it seem like the other person is not there on the PC call.

ARGH How did I fix it The usual thing you find yourself doing when the mobile just stops working with this headset is to FORGET on phone, put headset into pairing mode and repair Now its connected fine again which just shows a problem, Ive not moved locations, not turned phone off and on simply deleting pairing and repairing.

I find myself doing this every day I use this headset. 4 Sound quality. Quite good with the Jabra Bluetooth dongle for PC but mobile Sorry Mobil can be again good when you first pair but after a while absolutely AWFUL.

Generally metallic noises are always heard on high notes There is a firmware upgrade FebMar 18 for this but it does not change this problem I have done it. This is just the start, when the mobile has issues trying to connect as it does and you turn it off on off on to make it take audio through the headset the resulting call can be AWFUL with sound dropping in and out clipping notes etc DREADFUL Again another pair unpair.

The multiple call handling problem I think has something to do with it thinking the other channel is holding something open as sometimes pulling the PC dongle out waiting a few seconds and switching back seems to help but not totally sure As I said Ive firmware upgraded, Ive reset to defaults after firmware upgrade and started over but NOTHING WILL HELP THIS HEADSET WORK PROPERLY I have many years IT experience to understand these things and Ive had enough with it.

Good PointsIts fast to get out when you get a meeting reminder in Outlook. You just flick on the on button, you get pc connected in your ear, and off you go. There are no wires to worry about which is one of my main reasons for upgrading.

The dongle is easy to pair with if you only want it for pc use. Its a stylish minimalist design. I tried a logitech wireless headset and it was totally unusable. This headset is usable and will work fine, just dont expect it to excellent and do expect some moderate annoyances.

ProblemsThe problems I experienced include it being difficult to hear properly on the stereo version. The headset blocks your ears so you cant hear your own voice. If you must buy it I would get the mono version instead.

Its not that comfortable to wear compared to the Jabra UC Voice 750 MS Mono that I have used for 5 years and always liked. If you tilt your head forwards the headset falls off meaning you must always look forwards This happens because its mainly plastic so theres nothing to keep it on except a small strip of rubber material.

Its not as comfortable as the UC Voice either. Magnet does not work properly. So many other people have mentioned this issue but nothing has been done about it yet new purchase in May 2018. To me its not much of a serious issue but the microphone does not stick to the headset properly and any kind of twisting motion causes it to pop off all the time.

The mic does not fall down so its only a minor issue in my opinion. Cannot repair with pc after using bluetooth. This one I really bothers me. I tried to listen to music on bluetooth with my smartphone.

When I was finished I tried to go back to pc connection but couldnt. I switched off the bluetooth on the phone but it did not revert back to pc again. The only way I found is to yank out the dongle on the back of my pc and hard to reach then plug it back in again.

In the end I decided not to use it for music. No instructions. There are literally 2 pages of instructions. It does not tell you how to solve the pairing issue I had above. I downloaded the pdf instructions from the website but no additional instructions are provided.

To switch audio devices you must use a separate piece of software, not provided, or use the system tray audio button in Windows 10. The Windows 10 switcher is a godsend and allows you to easily switch between speakers and headset, but without it you have to go right back into Sounds and manually disable the other device.

Why didnt they put this in the instructions Why didnt they provide extra software for Windows 7 and 8 users Why didnt they test it on real people I dispair, this is embarrasing. Audio instructions are quite annoying.

It says things like pc connected or sound muted. I could get used to it alone, but this brings me on to another issue its very slow to unmute. This means in a meeting you suddenly need to talk to everyone and you cant.

To unmute you have to hold the down volume for 2 seconds, then you get the audio instructions for 2 more seconds, then everyone is wondering why you arent talking yet, then you start talking. Did they not bother to test this in a real setting The workaround is to use the onscreen mute button which makes things a little faster.

Audio quality is not great. Bluetooth is supposed to be digital audio meaning its actually moving data around not analogue audio. This means the quality should be crystal clear and sound as good as a good pair of wired headphones.

But the audio is coarse and the quality is equivalent to a good FM radio. Its not unusable but I expected a lot better for 102. ConclusionAll in all I would stick with the wires and go with a Jabra UC Mono, for me the 65 is more fashion over function.

Humanity still hasnt found a good way to do wireless headsets yet.

These on-the-ear headphones are heavier than I expected, so that if I tilt my head very much while using them, they tend to slip right off. I could “tighten” them up a little by twisting the headphone band and pushing the ear pads together a few times, and that seemed to help.

Otherwise, they’re fine. I wanted general-purpose headphones for listening to Youtube videos and things like that, and for that these are perfectly adequate. The ear pads are comfortable, The ear pad height adjustment is inside the headphone band, and it could be a little stiffer because it tends to slip over time — once you get the setting you want, it may not stay there.

I have been using the Plantronics T110 phone and headset for many years. But in the past the part of headset that was connected from the assembly to the stem would break off easily, sometimes within a matter of months.

The photo above shows the area that breaks off easily. Recently the new headset has a longer stem and isn’t made of the same material that breaks off. I have complained to Plantronics for a replacement and they wanted a receipt – which I furnished.

After that they wanted me to go into their website and register the product before they would decide to replace it or not! Heck with it. If this new one breaks off I’ll so with a different manufacturer! So far so GOOD!.

This worked fine for the first year for what I need it for. It would be MUCH improved if the plantronics device had caller ID. This is a huge drawback, but I made that work. The phone totally crashed at one year to the date.

It won’t dial out. It does have a dial-tone, and I’ve switched cords, to be sure it was not the cord. NOPE — it’s the phone, dead after one year.

This is the first headset specific phone I have found with good sound quality. The headset itself is functional, but I recommend upgrading that for comfort. They are lightweight, which is nice, but a bit flimsy and not the most comfortable.

I have a disability with use of one arm and neck. To do anything while on the phone I can’t get it done holding the phone. I need the headset to get it done! The Panasonic brand is great. Durability could be improved.

I need a new one about every 1 year to 18 months. Aside from that I can easily talk on my Panasonic landline phone because it has the headphone plug. So it is like a packaged deal. Mic has good noise reduction.

Having received a replacement unit for my C565 headset (first one Dud). It was very easy to pare it with my Panasonic cordless phone, took about one minute. The headset is very light and comfortable to wear with the headband.

I tried the alternative bits that fit around the ear but found them too fiddly. The sound quality is very good and the range is excellent, worked well at the end of my 60 foot garden. I think this unit is very good value and well priced from One Direct.

The headset is great. The earpiece doesn’t appear to be very sturdy, I haven’t tried it yet. The sound quality has been terrific on all calls made so far. Overall I am very pleased.

I bought this headset because I found most gaming headsets to be far too large, enclosing the ears and blocking out surrounding sound which obviously is the intention, but I found the pressure on my ears very uncomfortable.

I often found myself leaving one headphone off due to this that and generally getting too hot from bulky earcups but friends kept complaining of echos resulting from the microphone picking up that headphones audio.

This headset eliminates pretty much all the issues Ive had. The microphones great, the audio quality is nice and clear though obviously may not stand up to comparison with headsets designed specifically for entertainment, and headset although fairly spartan in design is comfortable and I find I can wear it for hours at a time without any discomfort.

With the mono headphone design, I can still clearly hear my surroundings and audio output from my main speakers, while also hear the conversation on the headset. There are some new issues I hadnt encountered previously that have arisen with this completely different style of headset, but nothing Id consider a dealbreaker.

Audio cancellation is great I often have musicvideogame audio playing on my speakers during conversations, and have had no reports of that audio coming through. No lag in voice transmission that Im aware of.

Battery lasts for quite a few hours of constant use, and charges quickly. VolumeCall AnswerMute buttons are fairly intuitive to use, and the option to have audible feedback letting you know if you are muted and so on is quite useful.

Microphone swivels to either side, allowing headset to be used on either ear. Headphone is comfortable and unobtrusive. ConsNothing major, mostly just minor annoyances that may be very particular to me, but I thought Id mention them all the same.

Voice apps other than Skype seem to have a little trouble with the headset such as Discord, not always registering that there is an audio device connected even though the microphone is transmitting, the headset audio doesnt always route to the headset, but sometimes out my main speakers.

Im not certain if the issue lies with Jabra or Discord itself. Im not really dropping the star rating because of this, but it is a slightly annoying issue as I have to manually switch audio sources every time I want to use the headset.

The advertised range is in a completely unobstructed area such as an open plan office. In practise, the signal will drop out with even one solid wall between you and the bluetooth dongle and this with the bluetooth range set to normal, the highest it will go.

Its not a major flaw and obviously not an issue for most people, I just like to be able to continue a conversation when I have to leave my desk. The supplied charging cable is pretty short. I realize this product is mainly intended for use in fairly close proximity to your computer, but in my particular situation due to limitations in room layout, the nearest available charging USB port is well over a meter away from me, which makes charging the headset while in use impractical.

Still, at least Jabra opted for micro USB charging for this headset rather than a proprietary connector, so getting a longer cable isnt an issue. Was a bit annoyed to discover they hadnt released the charging dock at the same time as this headset which was originally a factor in my decision to purchase.

The magnet meant to hold the microphone to the headband when the headset is not in use is not particularly strong, and only really works if you havent bent the flexible end of the boom too far from its original shape.

Again, not really a dealbreaker, but its made me jump a few times when the microphone randomly pings away from the headset and hits something on my desk. The microphone boom is apparently pretty noisy to move around during a conversation.

It rotates on little notches, which are great for helping it to maintain its position. but if you try and adjust the rotation during a call, the sound is audible to everyone on the receiving end. Ive seen comments saying that the headband is a bit flimsy and easily snapped, and I can see how that might happen as it is made of plastic.

but to be honest Ive not had this issue. I think if you treat your equipment with care, you will never have this problem. Overall the advantages of this headset far outweigh a few minor annoyances, Id definitely recommend it.

I was hoping for better, but I did not find this device useful. I wanted it for GoToMeeting and skype calls on my Mac Mini and Macbook Pro, for connecting to 2 iphones and an iPad. I also wanted to be able to listen to music when in the office.

First off, the device feels flimsy. It did not sit well on my head, and the microphone did not clip back into place this has been mentioned in other reports. It was hard to position the microphone. The onoff and bluetooth control is hard to reach while wearing it.

It seems to connect to 2 bluetooth devices, but since it only announces connected to 2 devices its hard to know which, and the instructions are so poor that if there is a way to tell I couldnt work it out.

As far as I can see theres no way to switch between devices says youre on a call on one device and another device rings, you cant switch. I connected it to my Mac with the USB dongle. When using GTM, I selected Jabra as the device to use but could neither hear nor be heard.

Same with Skype, although for some reason on the 3rd try it did work with skype, but then just kept dropping both my voice and sound. I also selected Jabra in the Mac settings made no difference. I did manage to listen to iTunes, but the sound quality was terrible and it kept dropping.

Maybe mine had a fault, but I called the Jabra call line and they said as far as they could tell it was working. I sent it back and ordered a Plantronics UC Voyager Focus.

I am a professional Interpreter and I needed an HD phone to accommodate my new home office professional settings, specially for Court hearings, since I don’t have the luxury of having participants speak directly into the phone’s microphone.

If the judge is in his/her chambers or courtroom, the voice is picked up by the surrounding sound system. The volume and clarity the intérprete perceives depends on the judge’s position. Having explained that, I am very happy with the clarity of the sound.

Additionally, I am enjoying the other unasked for but built in features, like acting as a home Inter phone and a baby monitor. I know that there are many other convenient features but in all honesty, I have not gotten the time yet to learn about them.

However, I will. The two reasons why I don’t give it five stars are: 1. The maximum volume is kind of low, specially for My needs. Compared to the volume in my IPhone, I’d say that my IPhone has one third higher volume.

2. The matching Panasonic headset piece is quite uncomfortable. It is too short and it feels weird since it covers only one ear.

The junk I got a year ago at Fry’s broke. I looked all over for a simple telephone headset at electronics and computer stores. The telephone stores could care less. All they want to do is sell you a cell phone.

In needed something for my home business. Then I thought of a busiess store. Bingo. They are perfect, have the extra small plug and not a stupid 6 foot cord to get tangled in.

I ordered the wrong headset. I needed one with the USB cable for my computer. Instead, I ordered the one for the phone that did not have USB. I cannot give an assesment of this item because I did not use it.

However, I can attest tot the outstanding customer service when I returned the item to the store. I will continue to purchase from Office Depot.
