20 Best Hdtv Antenna For Attic (2023 Updated)

This is an outstanding UHF antenna that is poorly named. It should be named “extrematenna 65”. At least here in hilly northern Michigan it should. The box the 4228HD was packaged in 5 years ago said 60 miles UHF which was the absolute truth.

VHF range wasn’t stated but usually stood at around 35-45 miles as it is a simple bi-directional dipole. Then the CM marketing department staff started drinking the “cool aid” and inflated the number on the box to first 70 and now 80 miles which is a stretch of the imagination that is causing me a bit of grief from my customers.

CM must have tested it line of sight from mountain top to mountain top. However, if you put a descent low noise 21db pre-amp on it it will usually perform well enough @ 80 miles under relatively favorable 2 edge terrain conditions.

Regardless of my irritation over the inflated miles number on the box this is still the best UHF antenna available today at any price, I have tested them all (I really have) and the 4227HD always wins in a double blind study.

I sure wish CM would put their excellent 1700 series 10 element high band VHF antenna back in production to complement it, along with the required UHF VHF Joinatenna combiner, or get the 9521 rotator back in production, or even better yet do both! I don’t want to die from old age waiting for them:) So, in a nutshell if you need a longest range single direction UHF antenna the 4228HD is the best choice out there at any price.

I grew up most of my life with simple and free OTA TV signal. Just in my college years did I have paid cable/satellite. I have tried in my post college years other OTA antennas, but results have always been mixed with limited success.

My options were rather limited as a renter. Recently I purchased my first home, it was time for a real antenna! I grew up with a large VHF antenna with a rotator on a tower, and was looking for similar quality in an Antenna! However, I was hoping to eliminate any roof penetrations, and mounting the biggest and baddest antenna in my ample but confined roof space available may have been doable, but looked less than ideal.

So I found myself looking at this antenna. The reviews were no joke, this is a GREAT antenna! In todays OTA market and with the digital channel signal shift in the spectrum to nearly 100% UHF, this is all you likely need.

My new market of DFW, pairs perfectly with this Antenna. I live ~30-50+ miles from most of the terrestrial antenna installations, but I am fortunate to have signals in basically flat view of this antenna, where I receive 100+ broadcast channels, including several NextGen 3.

0 broadcasts, of the front. I also have some distant other market signals nearly directly in-line from the rear, so this bi-directional antenna is a huge success, and I don’t require an omni-directional antenna.

I have two of these in my 2nd story attic since I live between two DMA’s. I use them for UHF channels only and can get reliable reception of low power UHF(15 kW) at 60 miles over relatively flat terrain with preamps.

Some channels received at over 90 miles non-tropo. I previously owned two of the original CM 4228 ‘steel’ antennas and believe the 8-bay phased array is the best design. The newer model EXTREME-tenna 80 is a diamond with some flaws.

Being a nerd, I performed three hacks on both antennas. First, I closed the 16 triangles using hobby aluminum tubing(K&S #8104) which allegedly improves signal for the low UHF channels. Second, I removed the harness and moved it 70 mm toward the back using #8 long screws as stand-offs.

Third, I cut about 65 mm from each of the harness long leads on each side. This brings the stock unbalanced harness to a near equal balanced length for all four leads. If one wants to also receive the high VHF channels with this antenna, the harness must be removed and replaced with 300/75 Ohm baluns in phase on each side with equal short coax lengths to a 75-Ohm joiner.

So glad I unplugged my TV cable and went with the antenna service. This saves me a ton of money. The HD channels are plentiful and full of quality HD service. The savings each month makes living within my means that much easier.

There are many advantages of using this antenna besides the savings. I included two pics that show that you can’t even see the antenna or cords. It plugs into the back of the TV, stationed behind the wall mount and out of sight, and provides quality service for about $20.

WOW!.

We are in a difficult location for reception. I placed it in an upper floor window. It receives most of the available channels very well and some others reasonably well. Unfortunately one of the channels I definitely wanted to receive has some hiccups occasionally.

Over all it does quite well, especially for an indoor antenna.

Better video quality than our local cable. With this antenna and a couple of streaming services, I get all the video input I want. Best part is (NO $120 A MONTH CABLE BILL).

Amazing VHF reception which solves an issue that has been bothering me for year. I have a local station about 30 miles away which broadcasts in VHF. All of the antenn’s I’ve purchased were directional, but had marginal VHF reception.

This station would come in, then break out occasionally. It’s a station I need for football and it would cut out at the worst moments. So I bought this antenna which has much more VHF surface area(length), along with a VHF/UHF combiner.

I pointed this at the station 30 miles away and WOW, I now get 98% signal strength from the station with 100% signal quality. It’s insane! Before this anntennas, the best a normal combo antenna could muster was about 60% signal strength with rapidly fluctuating signal quality of 50-70% which caused my drop outs.

I bought one of these, ClearStream 5 UHF VHF Ultra Long Range Outdoor DTV Antenna, well over ten years ago, and it has served me well. I also have a UHF antenna and a diplexer so I can use them both and pick up all signals.

About a month ago, I lost all of my VHF stations. I replaced all my cables, pre-amp, diplexer, still no luck. I contacted antennas direct and they, after telling them my story, sent me, free of charge, a replacement part for my antenna.

They are a great company. Meanwhile I decided to purchase a new antenna, same type. I fixed the old one then installed the new one. No luck. Short story: The problem turned out to be the LED outdoor christmas lights I had installed.

Poorly boxed by manufacture. Box had no dents or marks but coaxial cable connection was broken. Antenna pieces inside box are loose and can move around under normal shipping and handling; the piece with the coaxial terminal box moved and hit inside of box breaking the antenna terminal connections (see picture).

Did what many others had to do and used 75 to 300 ohm antenna transformer balun in place of broken box. It is sad that a little padding in shipping box could prevent problem. Otherwise antenna was easy to assemble.

Have to mount in attic and does a good job at receiving VHF channels.

its easily the best antenna available @ 40 bucks. Those plastic/aluminum chinese monstrosities are worthless. FCC Licensed Broadcast Engineer for 30 years so i might actually know something. Unboxing it is a breeze.

you then twist and snap and its assembled. THE 75 OHM MATCHING TRANSFORMER MUST BE USED. The one i received was bad out of the box, one of the wires internally wasn’t connected, i bought a new one and it worked perfect.

Im almost willing to bet the negative reviews either did not use the matching transformer or theirs was bad. I mounted the antenna on its included mast exactly 11 feet off the ground on my garage eave.

I ran brand new coax cable, approx 70 feet to it. I get 66 tv channels. SIXTY SIX! On my previous Chinese Junk 70 dollar Walmart Brand ONN antenna i received 14 channels. and it is twice the size of this little thing.

Full HD on at least 2/3rds the channels. ABSOLUTELY in the NORTHEAST or WNY BUY THIS ANTENNA and keep it over 10 feet but under 20 feet off the ground and you will be totally impressed. aim it in the general direction of your favorite stations and watch the channels roll in when you scan for channels.

Seconds to assemble and 5 mins to mount – youll be watching OTA HDTV in 10 mins.

Was using indoor amplified antenna but wanted to see if outdoor would be better. Mounted on old DISH satellite mount. The supplied mount was exactly the same as the old DISH mount. Used the old cable that runs about 40 feet to the plug inside the house.

Used a smart phone compass app to line it up. I am 36 miles from the transmitters. I get ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS. About 20 station in total. Switched from DISH satellite about 20 years ago to antenna.

The pic quality from antenna is better than from cable. With the digital signal, you either have it or not. It is not like the old analog that got snowy and faded in and out. Sometimes heavy rain will disrupt the digital signal.

All stations are not the same. I think some may have more powerful transmitters. My advice. If you live 40 miles or less from a transmitter, try the cheapest indoor antenna first. You may be surprised in what you can pick up.

Get a long run of cable and try many different positions in your house. Concentrate on the side of your house that faces the antenna you are searching for. If you have aluminum siding, it will probably reduce the signal.

If you get lucky, you may get an indoor antenna to work. If not this antenna may be the next step up that may work. IF you are successful, you have the potiential of saving many thousands of dollars over the years.

I was getting 8 channels with a passive digital antenna inside my rig. Without moving my rig, I installed this King SureLock Digital TV antenna I was shocked. I’m getting 48 channels now. It’s almost perfect except one thing.

The only thing I’m disappointed about is the store charged me $169 and I could have bought it for $136 here online.

It works fairly well – pulls better than most other antennas. But the blue indicator lights are useless, lacking the ability to tell faint signals from strong ones. Totally unreliable. And the screws they used are NOT RUSTPROOF! I had to replace them all with S/S screws when rust streaks showed up after one year.

Geez, using S/S screws would have only cost them 25 cents! Overall kinda disappointed.

I used this to cover the hole from my old crank up antennae. I mounted the King Omnidirectional antennae. (Black) The fit is good and they give you the fasteners to mount the antennae to it. You through bolt the antennae to it.

Be aware that you must first install the antennae wire to the antennae through the slot that is in the antennae base. Apply the sealant to fill the slot and then all around the base of the antennae. This is the messy part.

I had the antennae upside down to do this. Put the fasteners through the holes and put on the nuts. tighten down with a Phillips screwdriver and small crescent wrench. You have to drill the holes in the plate to mount this to the roof first.

I put holes in the corners and then two on each side. I used stainless spax screws #6 by 3/4 to fasten this all down after applying sealant to the base of the plate all around. Screw it down, clean it up and then finish with a tube of lap seal to cover all the edges of the antennae and the plate.

Apply lap seal to all fasteners. Nice job and very sturdy.

Sorry to say that have not been able to use marathon plus antenna because The contents in package was incomplete. The transformer to the antenna was not included in package. I was one hundred miles out of OKC at a farm and could not make this work.

I was most unhappy. I called and received an email the transformer would be mailed to me. That was last Thursday and no transformer or email. I have not received transformer. So my review is not good of this product.

Please check with customer service to confirm where the transformer is at this time. I would love to hear from someone. Sure hope this helps other shoppers !!!!I give this product a 0 rating until I can use it !!!!!!.

Product looks good. Hookup is not difficult. Took a lot of moving around to get best signal. Finally took it outside and mounted it on a pole 14 feet above my ground surface and it pulled in stations I had never even heard of.

It is very expensive to me, but does a good job.

I was skeptical about the range but it gets my nearest and most important channels from 45 miles away. It also gets some that are about 90 miles out. And that is all done with it on a shelf in a second story bedroom.

Completely happy with the purchase.

I purchased the 4Max with reflector kits from a distributor. This was to replace a traditional antenna installed many years ago. Given the claims of a 70 mile range, good scores from Antennaman on you tube, and positive scores elsewhere on the web I thought it may match the performance of my old antenna.

All the signals in my area are high VHF or UHF. About half are local with the towers being about 10-15 miles west or 20 miles east, and the other half are to the east at 50-55 miles (the farthest broadcast towers are 1160 foot tall and the terrain is flat).

I installed the ClearStream 4Max in the same direction as the old antenna, on top of a 30 foot tower. Even with the old antenna loosing effectiveness due to age, I would get 86 channels. When I did a re-scan after connecting the ClearStream in the same position, I got 48 channels, even losing some of the local channels from 10 miles in the other direction.

The positive is that it is lighter and thus easier to carry while climbing up a tower. However, the range claims are unrealistic in my view. If you only wanted local stations using an indoor or attic antenna this would probably be a good option.

However, I feel I would have been better off to buy a traditional antenna and a pivoting base for my tower.

I needed to bring in signals from towers in two very different directions. I tried using an DB8e 8-Element Bowtie, and it was just “okay” in my situation. No matter how I adjusted the two panels of that antenna, it couldn’t quite get all of the stations I wanted, reliably.

Sometimes it did, but sometimes the stations pixelated. But I liked the DB8e idea of combining the two panels so that they could be pointed in two directions. I thought it might be worth trying 2 of the ClearStream 4MAX antennas because they are omni-directional and each antenna can capture a wider angle of signal than each panel on the DB8e.

The result? It worked even better than I could have imagined. I’m reliably pulling in stations from 5 cities in my State. Rock solid. Not 1 of the stations pixelate like the DB8e signals did. I re-used the Juice preamp from the DB8e setup.

I did not permanently mount either antenna initially, but rather mounted them on temporary wood bases so I could move them around to find the best capture for my stations. That worked out very well. Also, I read that it was important for each of the combined antennas to have the same length and brand/model of coax connecting each to a 2-way signal splitter (two coax in and one out).

Then I ran a short 3′ coax from the splitter to “The Juice” preamp. And then a 50-foot coax from there to the preamp power unit, then to an Amazon Fire TV Recast DVR unit that passes the signal to our home’s WiFi.

I’m getting reliable signals from 5 cities that are located in 3 of the 4 compass points from my home. The TV towers are located from 35 miles to 55 miles away, except for 1 local station that is 15 miles away.

Also, one of the antennas is picking up a city 180-degrees opposite from where I’m pointing it. Apparently this antenna pulls in signals from the back as well as the front. Pretty cool. I am VERY pleased with the 4MAX.

Antennas Direct supplied this antenna in exchange for this review. The 4Max with Reflector Kit was supplied. It worked OK for me, especially in consideration of the wider beamwidth for me. We’re about 40 miles east of Atlanta.

Signals come from two directions. Due to health issues, I can’t climb a ladder so this was an attic mount. I compared this ClearStream 4Max with my 4228. Both were tested with a quality 15dB preamp (gain for both VHF and UHF).

We have two stations on RF-VHF here, and the rest being RF-UHF. Overall signal strength was good on the 4Max, but the 4228 was better, considering the 4228 beamwidth is more focused. I tried to find a good compromise of directional aiming vs.

signal strength. Just couldn’t achieve what we needed with the 4Max. If I lived even 5 miles closer to Atlanta, the 4Max would be perfect for us. I like it’s size, ease of assembly and quality of all the pieces and parts.

Also, no doubt this antenna would work perfect if it was mounted outdoors.

Overall, I have not been overly impressed with this antenna. I am fairly competent with technology and setting things up, and I because frustrated very quickly with trying to assemble this, and ultimately gave it to my husband to mess with.

When we ordered this antenna, it seemed like it was one that could just sit in front of the television–simple hook up and use kind of thing. But, we are not going to be able to really use this without a good amount of finagling if we use it inside–our attic is more of a crawl space.

And outside use would require drilling et cetera. When my husband finally got it connected in our bedroom, we did pick up a channel or two without any adjustment, but as soon as we moved the antenna to a more permanent location, it went out of reception.

Other reviewers have great things to say, so I wouldn’t discount this idea if you’re electrically/technologically savvy. I will also add that we like in a hollow and are quite rural, so folks in higher and more urban locations may have a better experience.

Let me start by saying this definitely is a great antenna, I’ve went threw some about two of those flat ones an man this is definitely a difference. I put this antenna on my kitchen tv since I don’t have any sticks on that tv had a regular antenna on it because it doesn’t have a HDMI out put.

So for me to enjoy a lil entertainment in my kitchen while cooking & cleaning this antenna made it so much better. First I tried the antenna in the window an got about 32 clear channels, I mean super clear but I call myself messing around with it while my husband was at work since I was scared to go in attic by myself lol.

But once he came home an installed it to a beam in the attic I got about 63 channels so far. He says he might put it outside next summer since its winter here in Kentucky. Now I can can watch the News an other local shows clearly while I’m cooking in my kitchen.

I really like the look of this antenna. It looks sleek and modern and is not an eyesore in your house or on your roof. I live in the country in a heavily wooded area, but I would really like to be able to get rid of cable.

I thought I would give this one a try and hope that I could get enough of a clearing somewhere to pick up some channels. Unfortunately, I was only able to pick up two channels but none of the bigger stations.

I’m sure if I lived somewhere that didn’t have so many trees it would have worked great so I don’t fault it for that. Installation was a breeze due to the detailed and very clear directions included.

Would be a great antenna if you do not have a forest surrounding you.

This is a great antenna. Did some research and found antennaman on YouTube who did real live testing. I went with the 4v with the vhf antenna bar and reflectors so I could get all the channels I could.

I got 62 channels being 50 to 75 miles away from broadcast towers! This antenna is amazing. I’m glade I spent the extra money on a quality antenna. I’m going to do some more work fine tuning the antennas direction.

Antenna worked great just pointing it in the direction I think the towers are at. I want to do some calculations and use a compass to make sure it’s in the best direction. Instead of my guess when I mounted it.

I was so thrilled with 62 channels. I was just getting 18 channels with a black square pad window mount antenna from Walmart for $25. With my new antenna I can work on the direction it pointed and I will try one of those Onn indoor antenna boosters that I read will work for those like me that are far away from the broadcast towers.

Local folks who live close to towers like 10 to 20 miles away a booster can hurt your reception and you will get less channels! So beware of boosters if you are to close to the towers. Hope this helps.

I dropped cable for internet tv and over the air local stations got tired of prices going up and I had to keep reducing channels. It got to the point cable was not worth it no more!.

I’m glad someone told me about this antenna. Worth the extra money if you live within 50 miles of the broadcast signal. My old antenna would frequently pixelate. This one does not. Much better. I paid someone to mount it professionally.

Works as advertised. I’m pulling in 68 channels now.

Great Station pickup near Philadelphia PA. I mounted it to the chimney. Still get some minor interference from jets that pass over to Philadelphia Airport. Added a signal booster that minimizes most noise.

I get about 70 stations now and they are free. Recommended.

Works as represented in terms of getting alot of channels and good clear tv reception. And shipping was right on time. The problem was you have to drill a big 1″ hole through your wall to connect the antenna system.

You cannot attach the coax the antenna comes with to your cable network already in place. I went back and read the description but no where was it mentioned that you could not connect the factory coax to your existing cable network.

To me, it was deceptive to not specifically state a material and important limitation such as mounting the antenna somewhere as long as it’s less than 40 feet from the tv. Given a 24 foot antenna pole you have less than 16 feet to run to your tv.

The reason is that the antenna rotator and signal amplifier are both powered through the factory antenna cable. So you can’t use the antenna or the antenna rotator unless you connect the factory cable directly to your tv.

That means drilling a big hole through your wall to connect to the tv. Also, the second so-callled antenna cable coming out of the rotator control box is only maybe 6 feet long. So yes, you can have another tv on that antenna but it would have to be closer than 6 feet from the tv already connected.

If I had known this up-front I would never have bought the antenna. So, if youdon’t mind drilling a big hole through your wall and are well withing 40 feet of the antenna then no problem. But if you expect to just connect the factory cable to your existing cable system then you have a pretty big problem.

For these reasons I would not buy another antenna such as this one. I give iit 2 stars because it did work good and delivered on-time. But the installation was totally unexpected.

Easy to assemble!! Works great I went from having 3 channels to 25channels! Would recommend highly! We live in a rural area have trees around us all over and the stations come in crisp and clear! I only have it mounted about 20ft in the air.

It would be easy to use if the manufacturer would have taken some more time and effort to build into the unit a system where it would at least tell you were facing north, south or where ever better yet have degrees displayed somewhere.

The meter on my tv does not stay up for the full 28 seconds it takes to do a full revolution. From where I am to Montreal is flat an I still can not get all the stations that I used to get with a big antenna.

(Montreal is about 60 miles as the crow flies).

Well, I bought one of these for myself, and mounted it. First I had it on an extendable mast about 20 feet up, close to the building, then when I didn’t have too good of results, I moved the 8008 away from the building, but still got the same results.

I decided to try a second one at my best friend’s home across town, and mounted it to his satellite antenna bracket, as he wasn’t using satellite TV anymore, and took the satellite dish antenna down to make room for the 8008.

The bracket or mount was on the West side of his building, and the pipe that I used attached to the satellite dish mount, had the antenna almost even with the peak of his metal roof. The one TV station was to the SW, and since both my location, and his location, had the antennas more or less on the West side of the building, mine was on the NW side, since one station was all we both could get, I decided to raise his up to about 20 feet or so on a TV antenna tower he had, mounting the 8008 on the South leg of his tower, but still got the same results.

We have the main Channels of 7, 9, 20 and 33 (was 55 but had changed to 33), about 45 to 55 Miles SE of here, and neither one of us have a good signal from any of those stations. If lucky, we get, “one bar” for signal strength, sometimes those stations come in, but barely, and sometimes they don’t, and only Channel 13 to the SW comes in with 3 to 4 bars, on my TV which 4 bars is full strength, and either 4 or 5 bars, which 5 bars is full strength on his TV.

So, my personal opinion is, that the 8008 is OK, if you’re no more than 25 Miles or so from TV stations, but for stations that are 45 to 50 Miles, or more, forget using this antenna. I’m sort of disappointed with the, “limited range of 25 Miles or so” performance, and, unless you’re in or near a larger city that has a lot of TV stations, covering all of the networks, I feel that you may be disappointed with this antenna, as I only get one main station, Channel 13, unless you count all of the signals coming from the same station, 13-1 (or 13.

1), 13-2 (or 13. 2), 13-3 (or 13. 3), 13-4 (or 13. 4), plus there’s another signal, but instead of showing 13-5, it shows 14-1, even though it’s the same station. So I basically get only one station with the 8008, Channel 13, when everyone else in town also gets 7, 9, 20, and 33 also.

So, I’m sort of disappointed with the results I get, both here, and at my best friend’s home across town.

This was purchased last month. The first month, I gave it four stars. Then only 2 stars for the second month because the antenna is of excellent quality and is still intact. In the second month, the amplifier failed.

On the 51st day, the amplifier failed. Although the rotational functionality remains, four of the six stations received were unable to be detected after failure. Because they were on flat land, the farthest station they received was 61 miles away.

Only a station less than 20 miles away was chosen to tower. Amplification was turned off for this test. All cables were replaced, however, signal boosting was lost. To regain functionality, I had to purchase a $12 signal booster.

The antenna structure and mount are both excellent. A signal-enhancing amplifier that isn’t working. I received a replacement within a few days after informing BOUSTY! Purchasing bingpingding products through BOUSTY is undoubtedly the best option.

Increasing the star rating to FIVE!!!.

I was able to assemble, test, and install the antenna outside. I cut an old directv cable that ran through the outer wall long enough to reach the antenna. I didn’t utilize the new cable that came with the antenna, but I did test it inside first to make sure everything was working before attaching it outdoors.

My antenna unit has no color coding, but I am receiving all four channels flawlessly (I live in the mountains away from cities). Due to a wildfire that knocked off my internet for two days, I was compelled to get this antenna.

I currently stream Directv and do not receive local news via streaming. The fire seems to have impacted Verizon’s Internet service as well. For entertainment, I was listening to the radio for fire updates and viewing DVDs.

I’m now getting fire updates from two TV stations, complete with stunning HD video.

Well, I was sick and tired of paying DirecTv for a bunch of channels I didn’t watch so I dropped them and went to YouTube TV because the wife “Had to have” local channels. This was fine until they increased their price and we were only watching a few channels here also.

So I went to Walmart and bought their cheap UHF antenna and put it in a 21’ pole that I already had. It picked up a few channels but they went in and out. I have failed to mention that I live in a very rural area far from any tv station.

But anyway, I called Antennas Direct and spoke with a guy named Randy about my problem. He suggested this antenna coupled with the ClearStream Juice preamp. I was reluctant to purchase all this because I live so far away from stations but he told me that it was returnable I think he said for 90 days and he gave me a 20% discount and free shipping.

Well I had nothing to loose. So I got, installed it and I’m picking up stations 75 miles away. There is another station that is 79 miles away that goes in and out but we’re getting 27 channels clear as a bell.

Wife is happy with her “locals” and I’m happy with no more high monthly bills. I cannot be happier with the service I got from Randy with Antennas Direct so if you have any doubts or questions I recommend that you call him.

Moved to an HOA community and didn’t want to hang my old Winegard 6′ Yagi in their faces. This low key appearing antenna more than met my technical needs, so I sprang for it, tho it cost almost twice as much as my old metal rig.

Very happy to have it perfoming great with medium to medium weak 1 edge signals per TV Fool. With it only 3′ high, I recieve HVHF and UHF signals separated by 35 degrees, with Tablo box scanning a ‘good’ strength using only the supplied gear.

Amplifier is a must for my location. Impressed the two dipoles is all it needs. Seems well made. Customer service rep was great, too.

My home is in an area of Florida with a lot of woods and interference from nearby airports, and I have tried other brands of antennas before with little success. My friend recommended the AT-800SBS to me, and we placed it in an area that is almost but not quite free of trees.

The top of the antenna was about 13 feet above the ground and to my surprise the channel scan resulted in 98 channels being received without loss and many channels that had never been received before.

I’m jumping up and down with excitement, this directional antenna is perfect for me! Very impressive.

The AT-800SBS accomplished what I was hoping for. I was a little concerned at first when I just used the antenna indoors near the TV. I only received about 12 channels and was missing a couple of key networks.

I then tried the antenna facing out the window on our east side and got 30 channels with all the major networks (shown to be about 55 mi on the signal map). I ended up mounting the antenna inside the garage (near the ceiling) facing east and got the same 30 channel reception along with a great spot to run cable.

A couple key points. it really needs to face a direction consistent with the signal map of the channels you want most (the mult-directional reception capability has its limits) and use decent shielded cable.

Also – watch for sales. I noticed Home Depot had the unit on sale for ~129 about a week after I ordered directly from Antop.

Myself and my Parents have been cord cutters for a long while now. A few years ago, during a storm, my parent’s antenna somehow stopped working. We repositioned it and tried running a new line, physically it looked fine, not sure what happened.

So, I bought them a new one, high rating on Amazon but cheap and “Omni” with huge range, it was before I knew what I was looking for. It worked, but was really weak, we couldn’t find a spot to get everything clear and assumed that was as good as it got.

Fast forward to the past month, I installed new LED lights in their ceiling and when we turned the lights on, they looked great, however my dad found a fault, now when he turns the TV on, he has to change the LED lights to low otherwise it scrambles their channels.

I didn’t know that was a think until I did more research and tried some other methods first. Finally, I contacted Antennas Direct, extremely friendly, they explained to me what they had, took my parents address, showed me if I got this particular antenna and aimed it in a section the drew on the picture for visual, they would get as many if not more channels than before.

At the price I wasn’t sure, but they told me if it didn’t work properly, I could send it back no issues. So, I bought the antenna from Antennas Direct, and it arrived really quick. In fact, it showed up right before we went over to my parents for my dad’s birthday, so this is what he got.

My brother and I put it on their roof, pointed it in the direction the tech advised and also verified it to their position app. Turned the TV on and scanned it. Every channel came in crystal clear! No pixelating, no searching for reception, we were in awe at the difference.

Then my brother turned their new LED lights on FULL Power, and EVERY CHANNEL was still crystal clear, we were all in relief. As a side note, we had some storms the rest of the week after we put it up and I reached out to them to make sure things are still good and we didn’t do something dumb and it blew off the roof lol, but my parents said they’ve been very happy, not even the storms caused any issues.

So, yea, in conclusion, I highly HIGHLY recommend this antenna and this company, I greatly appreciate their time with me and answering my “dumb” questions. I feel like I’ve learned something new and will definitely buy again in the future!.

This antenna was able to get channel 8s in Northridge, CA which I did not get with a flat indoor 8×10 inch antenna. But I still have trouble with 63-3 Retro TV. This has always been my hardest channel to receive.

I am using this antenna inside on top of a kitchen cabinet six feet high, facing east. But this antenna using the table stand is VERY tipsy, so I had to tie it to the cabinet to not fall forward. Overall antenna is good, but a little bit finicky on receiving some channels.

I added a LTE filter next to the antenna, but was about the same on signal. Small enough to fit indoors. Receives about 160 channels in the San Fernando Valley. Wish it cost less, a bit pricey.

It works but so does all the other rotor models. It has the same faults as the rest. I bought one as my first. It lasted about 2 yrs. Most will. The worse problem with them all is the cable that they come with that runs from the antenna to the splitter, it you use one or the box.

It cracks within a year or so. Not made from the best material. Best to go to Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot. Any one that sells coaxial cable and get a the better cable. The other is the box. They usually work for about 2 yrs before they start going out.

The antennas last, the motors last. It’s the cables and the box and the box cost about $30. At least half the cost of the whole package. My thought is buy any of the rotating models, The boxes almost look alike , just different colors.

The box is the brains of the whole thing. The antenna won’t run even one TV if the box is not working. That is the amplifier which these small, 18″ antennas need to even give a signal period. I have been off cable and satellite for several years now and have owned about 3 of these antennas and I am fixing to buy my 4th.

It would have been nice to know the max length of the coax cable from the antenna was only 50’. Didn’t realize until bought and saw manual. Reception was terrible. Also it looks nothing like the picture.

All plastic so I doubt it would have held up after years in the sun. Fins on back are so flimsy too. Very cheaply made.

I was surprised when the box arrived it was much smaller than I expected. My first thought was there must be a million parts to this thing. Surprised again when I opened it. The few component pieces were easy to assemble and the only thing I will re-emphasize is restrain yourself from over tightening everything.

I removed my old 9′ antenna and straightened up the mast. Mounted the LAVA HD2605 and connected it to the existing coax. I aimed it the same direction the old antenna had been. Finishing the inside connections as per the directions and turned on the TV.

WOW! 33 stations and every one of them perfect. I didn’t even need to rotate it. I own a really good TV I never knew how good until I connected it to this antenna. I live in a rural area with out cable and lots of hills.

To get satellite was another project so for years I had to be content with what ever I got from my antenna. It was big and subject to the winds and weather. I could get 26 stations but half of them were un-watchable if it was windy or raining.

It was now obvious that none of them were coming in as true HD with my old antenna. With the LAVA 2605 the TV shows are amazing, sharp, colorful, like never before. I don’t have a monster antenna hanging over my house anymore.

Every channel comes in perfect no matterwhat the weather is doing. Wind, rain, snow, even the big pine trees out back do not affect this antenna. Not that I ever did but I don’t have to pay someone to provide my TV entertainment.

Paying for garbage TV? You may want to consider this option and save yourself a pile of cash every year. I can buy a lot of movies and boxed TV shows for what cable and satellite companies charge. Some of my neighbors noticed the big antenna is gone and wondered what I had put up that is so much smaller.

I invited them in to see my TV. They all agreed my reception and definition are much better than what they are getting. I expect to see a few more of these antennas around soon. This was a great investment.

I had an RCA antenna that looked similar to this but had lost it in a move. Well, right after this arrived, of course, the old antenna reared its head. So I thought, I’ll just use that and return this one.

Well, the RCA (only 4 years old) picked up only four channels, so I thought I might as well try this one since it’s here. Wow what a difference. This one picked up 12 channels for me. Tripled the channel count and they are all coming in really clearly.

Even when the old antenna was getting six or seven at the old house they sometimes were glitchy. This antenna even picks up more channels and better than a rooftop one I bought for around 40 bucks. No complaints here thus far.

I don’t know how they made this so thin, yet so effective.

I bought this product to pickup local channels on a TV I installed in my shed. My problem is that I live in the mountains in an extremely wooded area. The local major channel towers are about 40 miles from me.

I’ve tried other antennas with limited success. The unit is by far the best antenna of them all. Picture quality is outstanding. Best if installed outdoors or next to a window, the higher the better.

I’d would definitely purchase this again.

We already have two antennas in our house to watch the local channels for free. I purchased this one for my craft room just so there is some background noise and to listen to the news. It’s a great antenna, very easy to install.

I still only receive the basic channels, the same as with our other antennas. I do think the range distance is enhanced in any way. It could be that we are too far from the main tower. Otherwise the antenna is working great even in bad weather.

All channels come in HD and are very clear. We are receiving all local channels and some obscure channels and some channels from neighboring city’s. It is definitively worth the money.

It’s Easy to install, screw in coax cable to tv scan for channels enjoy. The antenna provides a clear picture. I was able to pickup 21 clear channels. Your results depend on your location and if you have bonded to your antenna.

It must like you and feel emotionally validated. and loved to perform at its optimal efficiency. Oh my new antenna identifies as a emergency intergalactic broadcast portal. It’s non binary and gender fluid.

Yours may be different but love it anyway and it will work hard to bring a plethora of inane stupidity into your home. Maybe even some subtle mind altering social conditioning. There are also the happy thoughts of knowing corporate America has access to influence you to buy things you don’t need or really want.

Enjoy , the more you watch the less you will know.

i never heard of these things until they popped up on the daily deals list. i can’t believe it took me THIS LONG to find a device that provided me with free channels, free movies, free entertainment…without concast, without some useless monthly cable fee for shows i would never watch.

you know, i have met tons of people who like watching tv. i have never heard someone tell me, “oh yeah, spend 10-20 dollars on an over-the-air antenna for free tv”. NEVER!!! and that’s what this is. i watched some peaceful christian music and whatever else, i watched some denzel washington movies, i got csi, some stupid reality tv, it’s GREAT!!! it’s everything i could have hoped for, because honestly, i just keep it on to keep me company at home.

buy it. you won’t regret it.

Wow! I was amazed how many channels this antenna picked up! On a Samsung 40″ TV it pulled in about 110 (facing towards Chicago in my window although I am in Southern Wisconsin between Milwaukee and Chicago).

After that TV fell off my stand and broke I purchased a 43″ Sony and it still pulls in about 77 channels. And I mean the picture quality is really great!! For the cost of $9. 99 (it was on sale) you cannot beat it.

Most other antennas like this just don’t work. Well this one does – at least for me! You really need to give it a try before spending a lot more on a different brand or style. A most enjoyable purchase experience!.

We cut the cord in December and bought inside antennas for our 3 TVs. We could only pick up maybe 30 local stations, and they would pixelate like crazy. The Super Bowl was approaching quickly, and being a big Bucs fan, we had to fix this pixelating problem quickly.

I had read that you can connect a TV antenna to your cable TV wiring system. If your home is wired for cable TV and you want to cut the cord and drop cable in favor of a TV antenna, the same coax cable can be used for the TV antenna.

So, we bought this antenna, and my husband used the existing cable lines to run it to the 3 TVs. We had to purchase cable to connect the antenna to the splitter and grounding wire. We now get 56 crystal clear local channels with no pixelating.

I was having severe Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy withdrawal, but not any longer. Also, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now the Super Bowl champions, and we did not miss one second of the game. I would totally recommend this antenna and gave it 5 stars.

It’s hard to get overly excited about a digital TV antenna when you live only a few miles away from the tower. In my view, it had better work. I can see the tower from my window. Unfortunately, every one of the four antennas (from three different manufacturers) we were using gave us “scrambled station” or “no signal” responses on a handful of the popular stations.

Granted, we got virtually 95% of the 40 or 50 stations that are available, but sometimes they’d pixelate out on us while we were watching, or the station would drop out entirely. To me, it is so unforgivable to have this happen in 2023 when you live so close to a broadcast tower.

I bought two of these from WMT to avoid the shipping cost, in the hope that we’d have some success. I was pleasantly shocked. with this unit we are getting complete coverage of all stations we expect to receive and have yet to experience any pixelation issues.

We’ve been using this new unit for about 3-4 weeks now and are very pleased. I wish I had ordered two more. In case you are wondering, the hook-up with these antennas is very straightforward and is as seamless as you would imagine.

Plug and play. The only negative, I wish they had provided a base for the unit to allow for an upright mount on a table. This would allow simple rotation of the unit rather than having the unit mounted on the wall.

To me, wall mounts look tacky. A small base would allow you to set up the unit behind the TV out of sight while allowing some rotation of the device if needed.

I have tried a bunch of the flat ‘window’ antennas for the TV in my home office. None have worked without pixelating or totally dropping the signal, especially if someone moved in the room. This one is different.

I slapped it to my front porch post with Gorilla tape last fall and enjoyed amazing reception all winter long. all the more surprising because I live in a rural, heavily forested area 88 miles from a tower, according to one of the online TV transmitter locator sites.

I was so impressed with the first one I bought a second one for the second floor bedroom TV. I put the antenna outdoors on the side of the house under the roof overhang as we have pretty brutal winters.

I get 18 channels with very clear, steady reception. Likely the reception and number of channels would be even better if attached to my chimney box but I don’t think I would have enough coax cable and am not excited to scale my sharply pitched roof to find out.

I’m going to give it a year and if it continues to hold up this beautifully then Charter/Spectrum and I are done.

When my cable company dropped a particular TV station from their line-up it meant that we could no longer watch Bears games if the Lions were playing at the same time. I have tried several indoor TV antennas in the past and have never been able to get more than 4 stations — all Christian broadcasting.

Kinda out of desperation I spotted this antenna on sale and since it was advertised as an indoor/outdoor antenna and had a 30′ cable I figured I’d give it a shot. Indoors, the same result. I hooked it up to a 16′ pole and placed it outdoors.

The result was 26 channels. We are right at that 60-mile advertised range of the antenna but we got ‘clear as a bell’ HD reception of the game. We now have a plan B when our cable provider does not show a Bears game.

So, you wanna leave cable huh? No better antenna than this one to leave it with. I purchased this little antenna and let me just say. this one DOES receive better signals than other models. But the change is not significant enough to justify that one.

Works like a charm. particularly like that it virtually disappears unlike rabbit ears it replaced. That being said, I live on an Island in Puget Sound and face East. can see the towers on Queen Anne Hill from antenna position.

but picture is much sharper than rabbit ears and more consistent.

This WeGuard digital antenna is EXCELLENT! I’ve been using a flat antenna for years and finally got to a point to change. The market is full of Digital TV antennas of varying quality so I was hesitant to make a purchase without getting a referral.
