20 Best Hdmi To Displayport Cable (2023 Updated)

This is a passive cable and therefore involves no active electronics. As a cable only, it is quite expensive. Most other active or passive cables are much cheaper. However, StarTech are a good company and make fine products.

This one is no exception. It is very well made and worked as soon as I plugged it in. One thing to be aware of is the difference between Display Port and HDMI signals. They are not the same, which is why most cables include active electronics to perform the conversion.

This means that you need to ensure that the Display Port device that you plug this into has the DP++ sign. If it does not have those ‘pluses’, this cable may not work. My device (laptop) did, so no problem.

Incidentally, I did also buy a cheap ‘active adapter’, and this also worked, but in terms of reliability, I would trust the StarTech cable not to let me down.

When I installed these cables, they worked as expected. If you have a computer with ++DP and a monitor with HDMI in, these cables work at the 1080p or 1200p 16:10 resolutions. I do not have monitors with higher resolutions so I cannot say whether they support anything higher.

The cables connect to a 6 in, 2 out switch, which connects via another 15 feet of HDMI cables, through another 6 in 2 out switch then through 25 foot cables terminating at the two monitors. My setup is a little unconventional but it works fine for my needs.

Other devices also share those switches like game systems and other computers.

Nothing wrong this cable or its operation, but do double check this is what you need. I bought this to connect a Mac Mini M1 (which has HDMI out) to a Mini DisplayPort monitor – this was incorrect: this must connect to a HDMI monitor and your computer/source need to have mDP out.

The cable itself is good. But the cable did not work to connect a 2nd monitor to my laptop. Both the laptop and monitor are Dell. I called tech support and unfortunately they were not a lot of help. I had to find the cable myself which ended up being VGA to HDMI.

Dell Screen is great replacement and update for my old one. Well packed and timely shipment. Will work with my old XP/XPS Dell computer and new windows 10 dell laptop. HDMI CABLE IS WRONG CABLE. MY FAULT.

My title pretty much sums it up. This adapter works for utilizing a single DP monitor connection. My hope was that it would allow me to use my dual DP monitors on my HDMI only laptop. My other laptop has a DP port and I connect two 27″ monitors to a StarTech DP hub (MSTDP123DP, ASIN B00JLRBB8I).

works perfectly. My other laptop (work) has only USB and HDMI ports. So. enter this adapter. I connected the HDMI to DP adapter. then connected it to the previously mentioned hub. No joy. Works with a single monitor directly.

Works with a single monitor connected via the hub. but two connected DP monitors results in two black screens with a “no signal” message. So, I doubt my use case was intended in the design so it is not fault of the product.

Works as designed and works well. However; consider other options if you intend to connect multiple DP monitors to your “HDMI only” device.

This HDMI to DisplayPort is Awesome! for some reason you can go from DP to HDMI but if you need to do HDMI to DP, you need additional power. I made the mistake thinking just flip a cable around – nope! if the label says DisplayPort to HDMI, that means output is DP and monitor is HDMI.

if your output is HDMI and you want to go to DP? Don’t turn the cable around, it isn’t working without this gem. Much worth the little expense.

After beating my head against a wall for 2 weeks and buying $100 worth of the wrong stuff from other places I called customer service. Within 5 minutes the tech new exactly what I needed and gave me the part numbers.

Ordered the parts online and a couple of days later they showed up. Plugged them in and turned everything on and it works perfectly. I was concerned that my $1000 Wacom display tablet would be useless because I didn’t have a displayport on my laptop but this solved the problem.

Bought 2 of these cables to run dual monitors from my surveillance HP Prodesk. One connects to a monitor and the other to my TV and it does carry audio.

Build a quad monitor rig, and due to video card designs, needed to utilize three dp ports as well as the hdmi. But doe to the mount for the monitors, the right side had the dp ports blocked, and only hdmi accessible.

So rather than messing up configurations, switched all three primary to dp – hdmi, so they kept the same refresh rate and video quality. Honestly, didn’t see a difference between just the center and left on dp, with the other not hooked up, vs the three in dp-hdmi setup.

So signal quality is excellent. It was supposed to be temp until I redesign my monitor mount, but now I may just keep it as is, even after modifying my sim rig.

My laptop went out suddenly and surprising. My budget did not allow for a new laptop or complete system at this time. I planned to connect an older desktop with a newer monitor. Problem was tat I needed a cable that would connect HDMI from the monitor to the older desktop CPU without HDMI connections.

I had already bought a HDMI CABLE from a big box all purpose store. I wasted time and money. After a few minutes in Micro Center after explaining my problem one of your floor persons/ salesperson went in an instant and selected the cord that works well for me and my computer world has been functioning very well since.

This cable has been great to have for my dual monitor setup where my graphics card only has 1 HDMI port. This lets me use my Display port, which I would not otherwise be using, for my second monitor.

I bought this product so that I could connect a PC (which only had DisplayPort) to a TV. I was not let down by this product as it works perfectly. There are no issues with the display or audio and the cable itself has plenty of length.

This is a great solution for anyone trying to get from DisplayPort to HDMI.

I was mostly using HDMI for my monitor at the time, and my 2060 has mostly Displayports, so I initially went looking for an adaptor and found this instead. Stronger connection than an adaptor would give you and the picture still looks great.

Definitely would recommend for anyone with my situation.

My graphics card only has one hdmi port and three display ports. My older monitors only have dvi and hdmi. So this display to hdmi lets me put off upgrading my monitors for a little longer. The cable has a locking end on the display plug end.

It can be a little difficult to unplug but thay means it won’t wiggle out.

Good quality, solid construction. Solid performance to date, providing extended capability to my 3 monitor setup. Working great for connection from Geforce RTX 2060 to standard 27in LG IPS PC monitors.

Prices may have gone up, but as long as Monoprice maintains the quality, I’ll keep coming back. 30+yr Tech, and I would buy again.

Cables are great, however, I made a mistake as they the wrong type for my application. There is another type of HDMI to DP cables that support more data transmission to DP (active HDMI to DP), and I rushed to place the order before I checked to see if these were Active HDMI (they are not).

/TLDR: good product; bad consumer.

It’s a cable, converts Display Port laptop output to HDMI input, typically a monitor, in my application a 32” Samsung TV. I think all of these are overpriced and the world didn’t need another wannabe standard jack but HP put them in laptops (not sure where the mini version is used) so I don’t have to feel like I’m snorkeling on a sub-11” screen.

A different color release tab would be helpful but no competitor has that either as this fortat jack is one you can’t just tug to remove, must press in the black rippled release tab first. Those with little patience ant lots of gym time should be careful they don’t rip cable or entire Display Port jack out of their computer if they don’t realize there’s a release tab you simply press so it lets go.

Surely more than one I. T. Department has been called. we can’t get the plug off the laptop. Press the ribbed tab on top first. Duh- click.

I had just bought a new 4K display and realized I needed this type of cable to connect my computer to it. Didn’t want to wait to get one shipped, so picked this up. When I connected it, I was only getting 1080p resolution, even though I was confident my computer could do 4K.

The packaging for this cable even says it will do 4K. Turns out it cannot. I got another cable today from somewhere else (which was also almost 4 times cheaper) and it got my 4K working just fine. If you just need a cable that works, this is fine, but if you want a cable that can do 4K, this won’t work and is way overpriced.

Packaging describes using this for driving an HDMI device from a DisplayPort port on a computer. My need was the opposite. The product description on this website describes the cable as “bidirectional.

” But it will not drive a DisplayPort monitor from the HDMI port on a computer. It appears that cannot actually be done with a simple cable. OfficeDepot should remove “bidirectional” from the product description and should add statements there and on the package making it clear this cable works one way only.

I was looking for an active adapter very thin because my computer case has an odd layout that doesnt leave much room to connect a DisplayPort cable. This adapter just fits in, and works flawlessly so far.

Works great with my Samsung Mixed Reality Headset. The only way I could get the headset to work with a R9 390 8GB video card, also my R9 380X 4GB video card.

4k 60hz HDR capable. Just plug it in and it works. No loss of quality or lag. Great adapter.

This is a secret Best Buy item. Very hard to find in store, as it’s not kept with the other cables. They are usually at the customer service desk. Anyways, I use a Microsoft Surface for work and recently setup o home office with COVID and all.

Having to use the surface dock to use two large 1080p monitors, these worked perfect and don’t break the bank. I hate using adapters so it was nice to have the correct cables to make it all work and not be wasting $60-$100 doing it with “brand name” cables.

It’s a cable! And it works! Tip: If your graphics card has one displayport output and one or more HDMI outputs and you are connecting two or more monitors, then set up the monitor connected to the displayport first.

Turn on the computer and check that everything works. Then connect the monitor(s) which are using the HDMI output. Do not connect all the monitors up at the same time. Especially true for AMD Radeon cards.

Works, reasonably priced. Purchased to connect a macbook with miniDP to projector at a college. Unbeknownst to me, IT has the campus computer and associated electronics where an external laptop cannot be connected! Connected to a TV and outputs just fine (and now I can watch YouTube videos on a 52″ screen!).

The information for this part noted that it could be used to connect a Macbook 3. 1 to an HDMI cable. It cannot. The interface is too small. I took the device, with its original packaging and packing slip, to a Walmart store in Norwalk CT to return it.

The store staff were unable to take it. They explanation was that the bar code on the packing slip and the bar code on the package didn’t match (as if that’s relevant). I asked them to return it using the bar code on the package.

Takes a little trial and error on the settings but 5 or 10 minutes should be enough before you have what you want. I’m almost 74 but there is no tech challenge here. We Sling “home” programming 750 miles south to where we winter.

The internet is very iffy here, so we are on the edge of success to start with. We were using AirPlay on our Mac to put video on the big screen, but the end result was jumpy. The display port made a hard wire connection, with a very smooth result.

Got this adapter to connect a laptop with just HDMI output to a VGA projector. It works just fine for this. There’s no support for audio, but that was expected. There are some competing products that have an additional cable connector for audio, so consider whether you need audio output also.

Seems a little pricey for what it is, but it’s is in line with similar products from online computer retailers. Cheap products from those vendors universally seem to get poor reviews, so buyer beware.

Broke the work screen cable on one of the COVID office moves. could not replace with a cheap K-Mart one and was surprised I could get this quality this cheap here. does the job, 2 meters is not measured tightly, and connections are firm.

Have not tested this one in between my car door like I did with the other,,,,.

My device or the main monitor isn’t capable of larger display ratio so this cable was/is a bit limited in use. However the video comes through so much clearer than DVI or VGA (that’s digital v. analogue for you).

I have an HP T620 Thin Client running LINUX Lite and had it connected to a 10 year old Panasonic 42 Inch TV via a standard Passive Displayport to HDMI cable. The Computer did not recognise the brand of TV and thus I had to manually setup the Resolution settings and the HDMI Sound did not work and had to use the Computer Audio Output to a Stereo System.

This Passive cable did work fine to a 9 year old Sony and Samsung 32 inch TV. However after plugging in the new cable between the HP T620 and the Panasonic 42 inch TV, I got HDMI sound an full 1080p picture resolution.

The Computer also recognised the brand of TV. Great product at a great price.
