I immediately knew that this was a quality product simply by it’s packaging, and this belief was validated as soon as I began using the product. It does exactly as the description states. You connect it to a Component Input, along with an optical audio source (or digital coax if you would prefer), and outputs to HDMI.

I have observed very little latency in the signal conversion (this was tested by comparing the change in latency measured using Microsoft XBox’s Rock Band game). Furthermore, the converter automatically powers itself on and off based upon if an input signal is available.

It is an excellent product, and for the price that it is sold for, you simply cannot ask for better. The only consequence of this product is the power consumption. I cannot recall of hand exactly what the power draw from the included adapter is, but I believe it was in the neighborhood of 2 Amps.

However, based upon my knowledge of how much processing is required to convert these signals in realtime with minimal latency, such power requirements are necessary. PROS: Does exactly as described. Obvious quality in manufacturing evident simply from the packaging and enclosure.

Has worked seamlessly and exactly as expected for over a month now. Fantastic product at a fantastic price. CONS: Power consumption, although this is necessary for what it does. Please see my review for further information.

I bought one of these adapters so that I could connect component video devices (such as my Wii) to my HD monitor, and the results were generally very pleasing. The picture was very crisp, the colors were good, and the device worked without any issues right out of the box.

There were a few very minor ghosting artifacts on certain images, but that may very well have been the fault of my video source. I have tested the device at resolutions of 480i and 480p, and it worked perfectly in both cases, although the 480p picture was noticeably clearer, as would be expected.

As other customers have pointed out, the red LEDs are unusually intense, and can cast light on a wall several inches away. This is not a major issue (and can be solved with a small piece of tape if necessary), but some home theater users might find this annoying in a darkened room.

I was pleased to see that the LED on the HDMI side of the device turns on and off depending on whether or not the display is locked onto the digital signal, but I was a little disappointed to see that the LED on the component side just stays on all of the time, instead of turning on and off depending on the presence of an input signal.

I have not yet tested the device’s ability to transmit audio, or its ability to handle signals at resolutions higher than those mentioned above, but I will post a follow-up review if I encounter any problems.

Overall, my only legitimate complaint is that this so called “Rev. 2” product seems identical to the original version, but with a noticeable price increase. If this were any other company, I would just dismiss it as “business as usual,” but this seems a little low for Monoprice, a company that prides itself in offering the fairest prices possible, even when other companies do not.

Nevertheless, this is a still solid adapter that does exactly what it is supposed to with no complications, and if you need to convert component video to HDMI, it is the perfect solution.

I needed a way to convert the Wii Component Output to HDMI to connect it to the 4×4 HDMI matrix switch also sold by Monoprice (which works also works great!). I got gready and connected the output of an old receiver than I am using as a Component Switch.

It also gave me the capability of displaying the messages of my receiver to my TVs now all HDMI. Well results is that it works, with no sync problems. Considering I am routing 2 component signals to a receiver, and the output of the receiver to this component to HDMI converter, and this output to an HDMI matrix switch with no sync problems I think says a lot about the product.

Now to the negatives. I think the image quality is suffering a bit. I have not really paid much attention because I do not care that much about the image quality coming out of the WII or even worst, the Text based GUI from my old receiver.

I have not ran a comparison of pure component to the TV vs component coverted to HDMI to the TV. I do not have the cables ran for component and also think I have too many switches, converters in the middle to jugde.

But this thing works for what I am using it. PROS: Works as advertised, no hassle, plug an play Solves the WII Component only problem and older receiver issue. CONS: Some picture degradation possible, but not fully tested.

After all these years, the engineers still have not gotten the audio correct. There’s a distortion in the audio that sounds kinda like the added distortion effect to the alien Visitors’ voices in the original two TV miniseries V, from the mid-1980’s.

Changing the (player) source’s audio output format from AC-3 to PCM doesn’t really help. Changing this MiniMod’s audio format from the broadcast standard of AC-3 to MPEG-audio instead, helps slightly.

Strange. At least they finally made it compatible with AC-3 / Dolby Digital sources. I tried this model a few years ago and, despite their claims, it was not. Changing the latency setting to short or long causes it to not work properly; only medium is OK.

The video is definitely NOT perfect as advertised. This device changes the look of the video motion. This product is way overpriced considering its audio distortion problem. It’s barely worth 2-stars considering it costs about five hundred dollars instead of three hundred.

I love this thing. The low latency setting is great. It is very low latency and very high quality, so don’t worry about any lag for live show preview displays. It even has enough output to push an antenna over-the-air a tiny bit.

Pricey but this has a permanent install in my house on my video server so it’s well worth it.

We have a typical newer home with a control panel of cables all connecting in our master closet upstairs. I have a basic 2 security camera set up in the home that run into a DVR which is also located in this closet.

The problem we had was to view our security cameras we had to use an app on my phone and it is difficult to see on such a small screen. Because our distribution of our antenna TV all originated in this closet when we learned of this product we hoped we could tie both our TV and the Cameras together and then send all signals to our 4 TV locations throughout the house.

This modulator made this possible for us. I simply installed the modulator in the closet where the camera DVR is located. Connected the DVR HDMI output to the Modulators HDMI input. Followed the instructions to set the camera to show on CH 10 (chosen since it was just below our lowest channel of 11.

Then combined our coaxial cable from our antenna along with the modulator coax cable output using a digital splitter backwards. Connected that output to our original 4 way amplifier input (where we disconnected our antenna) which we used to send the TV signals to each TV location.

Now ALL our over the air TV programming along with the camera display on All our TV’s by simply viewing channel 10! Other products I found to do this cost much much more! This is a great deal!.

This was simple to set up. I found that I could input my Roku HDMI stick in the HDMI input to the modulator and assign a Virtual channel to it as well as run our Antenna into it and then the output we sent to our old DVR+.

Now we see the Roku channels (mainly used for Netflix) directly on our TV through our DVR+. Don’t need to change inputs to our TV anymore to watch Roku content. Still use the separate remote for Roku but its cool that we can use it this way.

I am still experimenting with it. I think there are many uses for this! Great product!.

Used this to feed my HDMI Blue-Ray player to the OTA antenna wire through the house. All TVs in the house can watch on channel 1-1 along with the other antenna channels. I used a laptop to configure the device.

People on the internet posted settings to change in the network settings on a Windows computer. This was necessary and very easy. Many brands did not have an HDMI out jack, but the Thor does. There is little (if any) difference in the RF or direct output.

If you want Subtitles, you can turn them on at the player. I’m happy with this device.

I needed to sync 2 tvs on our main floor that has no walls. Any delay in audio would be very noticeable. I already had coax run to both and it would be expensive/difficult to run other wire. This was a perfect solution.

I just connected both to a coax splitter and it worked perfectly the first time I powered everything up.

I set this modulator to feed a coax cable to a nursery TV in our church. Followed the provided instruction and had the unit working in 20 minutes. I set the channel and scanned the TV. EASY as can be.

I would buy several more if needed also it improved picture quality. it made my 4k vizio tv from 2016 look like al whole different tv. the crisp edges the smooth gameplay and also makes it more responsive.

Very rare I’ll spend a lot on an HDMI cable, I figure A cable will work or it will not but since I was looking for a better HDMI cable for my Xbox Series X and I must say I’m impressed. No issues in gaming, clear picture and sound.

Cable feels solid and looks nice, went ahead and purchased a few more for the rest of my home theater and bedroom theater. Definitely recommended.

This device is a great way to hook up an older DVD/VHS player that has RCA connectors (e. g. red/yellow/white pins) to a new TV that does not have these connections. We purchased a new Sony TV and could not connect the older DVD player to it.

I called Sony, explained the set-up and they said they were not able to help. I called Best Buy and explained the set-up and the Customer Service person gave me the answer in 2 seconds! Be sure to purchase the HDMI-to-HDMI cable so you can connect this Insignia device to the TV.

The unit does not come with the HDMI-to-HDMI cable. We only needed a 1. 5 ft HDMI cable because the Insignia device comes with a cord that plugs into an outlet and the DVD player already had a long enough cable to plug into the Insignia device.

You just have to get from the device to the TV. Super easy to set-up.

I needed to connect a projector. With the location the HDMI cable had to cross a high traffic area in the living room. This cable was perfect for crossing the path and I only needed to tape the cable down with a high quality tape.

It is so slim that it has not been kicked free and does not get effected by being stepped on or rolled over repeatedly. I know its not the ideal use but it still works!.

Got this to hook up a video card to a Samsung TV. Works very well, and fully supports 10 bit color at 60Hz UHD resolutions. Cable is thin and flexible, and has a snug connection. Very well made.

Slimline cable made pulling this cable for our remotely mounted display very easy. It’s about 1″ wide, and maybe 1/4″ thick.

With annoying regularity we were getting a trouble or error window on our ‘smart’ TV, that we were trying to watch a restricted program, such as evening news, hardly restricted! We thought it was another endearing quality with DirectTV! Then the problem seemed to be more positional, depending on where the TV, on a swivel base, was pointing.

I played with the HDMI cable, gaining or losing the program, and figured that the problem was connectivity. This new HDMI cable fixed the old problem, and we have reliable connectivity and no more annoying message window.

This cable did the job I bought it for. Nice and sturdy, well insulated/wrapped and from what I can tell, there is no distortion in the quality of the picture, even though this is a pretty long cable for HDMI.

I purchased this to transfer some of my VHS to computer via HDMI. The quality was great, but the scaler cut about a 16th to 32nd off the bottom of my frame. If you don’t need that portion it is great.

The scaler didn’t stretch the frame in 480p SD mode, it was mostly 4:3. It looked great in 730p and 1080p. I’m sad it didn’t work for me. I returned the device looking for another one that doesn’t cut the frame.

I bought this out of frustration with my TV not having S-Video and generally looking awful with composite. The scaler in my TV was very fast already, but this matches it and has far superior picture quality.

I have used it with N64 and NES so far. In composite you can get away with turning sharpness up to 5 before you start seeing artifacts, S-Video I put it at 45 and it looks good. It would be nice if there was some sort of scanline emulation to make games look a bit like they did on CRTs, but extra processing just leads to higher latency which is the last thing anybody (sane) wants.

A good product but it will not work with the HDMI cables with a Roku or such for there is something embedded in the cable to keep the video signal from coming thru. Audio works well, but would not recommend this product for use with hookup to dvd recorder or such.

I use this cable to attach my video monitor to my video camera. I primarily use the HDMI connectors so I can’t comment on the others. I love the compact design and quick wrap up. It takes up less space and does not put a strain on the connectors on either side like conventional round cables.

There is no lock preventing it from retracting so be careful when pressing the button it does snap back very quick. I suggest holding the cable in both hands that way you can control the speed.

Poor quality. As another reviewer noted, the item is too heavy for the tiny connector end. After several periods of use, the connection failed–after the return period passed, of course. I don’t know if the pins on the item broke or if it damaged the connector on my laptop with its weight.

I ended up getting a Chromecast in order to get the video on my laptop onto my TV.

Started getting signal loss after 18 months. The cord is just too thin and flimsy. Good concept, but it needs to be heavier gauge.

After buying a premium Blackweb brand 4k 16gbps HDMI that was defective, I planned on buying the equivalent “premium” GE brand 16gbps HDMI cable. But then I saw this cable. for half the price, also by GE! The bit rate on this cable is not listed anywhere on the packaging, but it is 10.

2gbps upon further research. This means it should work fine on 4k HDR and support 7. 1 audio and ARC. This is more than I’ll ever need. The only thing cables more expensive than this give you is ethernet support over HDMI, which is pretty rare at this point.

After buying a 4k tv, I was less than impressed with the picture quality. I bought this cable hoping it would improve it somewhat. My expectations were highly exceeded! It made a huge difference in the picture quality over the regular HDMI cable.

I never write review, ever. However I have been moved to write one for this product because I can’t believe how much its improved the picture and sound quality. I initially purchased this HDMI cable with some trepidation as it’s a lot of money and how much can an expensive cable really improve the overall experience.

I was expecting some minor improvements but not too much. Wow, is all I can say, I was blown away by the difference it made, even my partner could see and hear the difference and that’s saying something.

The picture is now so sharp that HD now looks almost as good as UHD and UHD looks even more stunning. The colours are vibrant and realistic and it’s improved the overall black levels as well. It’s really helped picture judder as well, it’s still there but not as noticeable, unless your TV is 120hz your never gonna get rid of that.

The sound is more dynamic, the soundstage more open than I thought possible and I’m actually hearing things on soundtracks that I’ve never heard before. Its even made the TV speakers sound halfway decent.

I feel like I’ve got a brand new upgraded TV, I can’t recommend this cable highly enough, buy it, you won’t regret it.

I bought this cable because it was part of an entertainment bundle in the store. It’s not a BAD cable. It’s actually pretty good, in terms of physical quality. It’s very fancy-looking, and it will work perfectly with most AV equipment out there.

But there are two things about it: 1. You won’t find this specification on the box, but the cable is rated for the HDMI 2. 0b signal standard. If you’re looking for the absolute best cable for the absolute best equipment, you need a cable with the HDMI 2.

1 standard — that’s for the latest, cutting-edge, highest-resolution, high-refresh-rate, Dynamic HDR equipment. For example, the PlayStation 5 comes with an HDMI 2. 1 cable included in the box, whereas this fancy “premium” cable is technically inferior.

But could you tell the difference if you plugged it in? For most home users, no. HDMI 2. 1 would be overkill. This cable would be fine. However: 2. The retail price of this cable is RIDICULOUS. Nobody needs to spend a lot for a cable.

You can get a perfectly good HDMI 2. 1 cable for 1/6 the price of this one. (Or free in the box with a PS5. ) People who sell expensive cables will try to convince you that premium digital cables give you a higher-quality picture than inexpensive ones.

They don’t. Seriously, they don’t. Digital is digital. Either the cable works or it doesn’t; there are no subtle differences. Buy yourself an inexpensive HDMI 2. 1 cable, and then you’ll have (A) a better cable than this and (B) a lot more money left to spend on something else.

Ive been using HDMI cables since 2007. I had the cables that came with the DVD players, CD players and TVs(as back then, they did give out cheap cables with their products). One day I bought a after market high quality cable, saw a difference and bought more.

Those were the first gen HDMI days. Fast forward to 2021, 4K comes out, the first gen cables work, but do have a hard time keeping up. So, I went to an online advisor store and bought their high quality cables with all the wiz bang manufacturing technology.

turned out to be very bad quality cables with a high price tag. I looked around for well made cables and found Austere cables, bought one for my TV to Receiver. The picture quality is great. The build quality of the cable is fantastic, so I bought two more.

One for the dish box to receiver, the other from the Blu ray to receiver. The picture quality is awesome, the cables keep up with 4K. These are great HDMI cables for new 4K and 8k equipment.

this is a great bit of kit. within ten minutes of getting it i had my cctv sytem showing on every tv in the house, except one, a ten year old set not even hd ready. just changed the broadcast channel number to 29, the name to cctv and the lcn to 8 which is not used in my area and it puts cctv as channel 8 on the freeview epg.

Litterally just plug in and connect your cables, hdmi quality picture via coax, connected 3 tv’s all now outputing sky hd with magic eyes all working, only drawback there is a very small lag on remotes, might seem pricey but does the job.

I bought this cable to replace some HDMI extenders that were installed and did not meet the specifications needed to send a solid signal to the video monitors. After doing some research and price comparisons I found this product and it seemed to be a good alternative and looked easy to install.

So far it’s been a good decision and as always, only time will tell. In testing I ran a UHD signal to the monitor even though it’s not UHD and it never missed a beat. As of right now barring any changes I will be buying several more cables.

PROS: Very little time to setup and works!! CONS: I am going to put a couple of cons in here but it didn’t affect the 5 star rating I gave it. I found that when you install it you really need to unroll it so it doesn’t keep twisting up on you.

I also found when I was testing that it did not work on a HD DVD/VCR Player that we use. It was a Funai with a Model Number ZV427Fx4. However it worked on several other devices and this was just for testing anyway.

The last concern was when I bought this cable from Monoprice they had everything on the site 11% off and this product would not show the discount so essentially there was none even though they were advertising it.

Monoprice was also showing that they had smaller lengths available but actuality they only had a couple of sizes so I had to buy a much longer length than I needed. I see now they have a better variety of lengths.

My hope is that Monoprice would also have a plenum rated cable in the future. I could use this in a school to run several TV’s for digital signage. Thanks and I am happy with my decision to purchase this product.

I actually haven’t had much opportunity yet to use the cable and I can’t speak for its durability. However, it is probably the nicest looking best designed cable I’ve ever seen/used. I’ve used thin fiber optic HDMI before but it was a flat cable which is quite hard to roll up.

This cable is very thin but round and great for remote uses where you have to unwrap and re-wrap.

Even though these cables are pretty pricey, I am fortunate to have a solution. Monoprice came through for me. PROS: These cables came just in time to solve a distance problem for high definition video in the new house we are building.

They allow me to transmit up to 4K60Hz on my long runs. The reason I did not give a 10 is because of issues with Black Friday discounts (see below). CONS: Monoprice ran all the ads at Thanksgiving and many advertised “for everything else site wide” some percentage off.

When I tried to use the promo code for the Slim Run Fiber Optic cables, it was not valid. Don’t advertise site wide discount and then have a list with a very large number of items not eligible.

UNLEASH THE HURT , THEN UNLEASH 59 MORE! (Probably able to unleash more hurt at lower resolutions) HDR? HOT DOG ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! This cable plugs and unplugs, which is generally what cables are best at.

It also does the transferring of the 4k stuff between something and something else so that is a plus! 3m is a good length for this cable. But there are others available if it isn’t big enough, and shorter cables if size doesn’t matter.

Easily connects up to 240hz from my laptop. Very affordable although would recommend 2M.

The Aten 1m Hdmi cable is an excellent quality product. It is a genuine 4K 60 hz. Well worth your investment if you are after a product that does what it says it does.

I should have bought this ages ago it had so many benefits. I saw the difference after a couple of minutes on the screen. It’s just an all round winner and especially if your changing over cables which were to thick to get through your conduit in the first place.

My sound through the sound bar has improved which I did not think possible just quite incredible cannot say enough. I suppose with time the price will drop as it is a lot for a cable connection but your recommended to put aside some of your budget for connections.

Would have given a higher score but costs do come into it.

I bought a Sony VPL-VW270ES 4K projector from Richer Sounds in Tunbridge Wells (they were extremely helpful by the way). This was to upgrade from a 1080P projector already installed in my living-room.

The existing HDMI cable I’d installed was a 15m Amazon Basics 18Gbps high speed cable. I’ve used various lengths of these cables and I’ve been very pleased with them as I always took the view that one HDMI cable was as good as another, which for much shorter lengths is probably fair.

I got the 15m Wyrestorm Active Optical HDMI cable just in case I needed it but if not would have returned it. After installing the 4K projector I connected it to a Sky Q box with the 15m Amazon Basics 18Gbps cable from the processor to the projector.

Everything ran perfectly with Sky Q UHD but I experienced issues when trying to get an image from a PC, even at 1080P. I could get a picture if I ran the cable directly from the PC to the projector but not via the processor, which wasn’t ideal as I then had to run audio to the processor from the PC via an optical Toslink cable.

If I connected the PC to the processor via HDMI and then my existing 15m 18Gbps cable from the processor to the projector then I could view the PC’s boot-up screen but afterwards the screen would go blank and Windows wouldn’t be displayed.

Also, I could only get a 4K bluray player to display in 1080P, regardless of what settings I chose and I was beginning to think my processor was at fault. I then decided to replace the existing 15m 18Gbps cable with the 15m Wyrestorm Active Optical HDMI cable bought from Richer Sounds and now everything works perfectly.

So, needless to say, even though I thought my existing cable would be perfectly good at 15m for 4K, the reality is, is that it wasn’t, but the 15m Wyrestorm works faultlessly and I recommend it 100%.

Some cables really are much better than others. Thanks Richer Sounds Tunbridge Wells for your help and advice, I’m loving my new equipment.

Thank you Tim (Exeter branch) I’ve just purchased the 10m Wyrestorm cable today. My old 10m cable was dropping out and caused my Denon Av amp to change feeds automatically. Tim recommended trying the Wyrestorm… So far it’s 3 hours in and the Denon AV seems to like it.

I bought the cable for £139. I know that seems expensive, but if you’ve invested in high end gear, why cheat on the one thing that that connects them and gets the most out of your kit. I can’t believe I didn’t buy one before.

This is a great cable. quality of construction is superb and the quality of picture is excellent. The only draw back to it is that it is a very still cable which makes it hard to plug in and for it to stay plugged in as it wants to pull itself out of the HDMI slots.

I would recommend this cable for those who want to do an in wall mount(where the cable are running in the wall) as this is very heavily coated for interference and would stand up to time of being installed in a wall.

This is a great cable great quality and a unbelievable price have paid twice this price for cables that don’t come close to these (in wall). Other high quality cable pulses and stops on my cable to 1080p TV this cable has not had a single problem.

Just purchased a 4k tv and needed an updated HDMI cable. Glad I chose this one. Picture is fantastic!
