20 Best Hdmi Splitter For Dual Monitors Extended Display (2023 Updated)

I specifically sought one of these out to solve the failure of the HDMI port on my aging 50”plasma. And, as I exclusively use this as a large monitor for streaming content through my computer, without a solution to bring it this video signal would render it useless, a drop in picture quality was both expected, and acceptable.

So, i was presently surprised to find this converter delivered a picture with no noticeable drop in quality from what the HDMI provided before it failed. So, why the four stars? Well for the money, I don’t have a lot of confidence in it lasting very long.

and would plan on including it with a portable kit if any kind. The quality of the components used just isn’t there, to withstand multiple connect and disconnect activity. That no HDMI is cord included, is understandable, but having the ones they do provide be different lengths, when the expected run is the same distance for both, begs explanation.

Even though the Power Supply to the unit has a bulky adapter. it still uses special connector, you have to keep track of, instead of doing us the favor of powering it via a universal USB. And failing this, at least make the one they do provide long enough to make it from the wall to your TV set.

None of my gripes are deal breakers, though, and I’m happy, so far, as this works fine for my intended purpose. Hope this helps! Cheers!.

I’ve been through 2 other brand HDMI splitter in this similar configuration. to split a single AV source to 2 television screens in different rooms. The 1st we had worked for a couple of years, then failed.

Then I ordered another but different brand (forgot which). That simply just had issues; audio cutoff, video worked randomly. Seller sent replacement and itndud the same thing. Returned that immediately.

Then I ordered this one, based purely on user reviews. So far so good! Plugged everything in, powered it up and it works as intended. I’ll update if it fails. I deducted 1 full star because I still needed to buy a USB power block, which costs me more and had to order and wait for a USB AC power plug.

It only comes with a USB cable.

Works perfectly! I wasn’t sure if I duplicate the display into my Artist 12 XP-Pen, will the pen still work and it did! Very happy with the product. Using it for over a month and no issues!This was my situation.

My laptop only has 1 HDMI port. From my laptop, I can set the HDMI port as an extended display 2 which is a 42 inch display. I want to connect my Artist 12 XP-pen so when I draw on it, it will show up on display 2.

I connected my laptop HDMI port to the input of the Orei splitter. Orei splitter has 2 HDMI outputs. I connected one to my XP-Pen and the other to my 42inch display. I was not sure if the pen would work when it is being duplicated because the pen as to interact with the laptop but it worked perfectly.

Now I can do live sketches during Zoom meeting and see it on a large screen. Super cool!.

Worked great, plug and play worked with a combination of PC monitors and 4K televisions. I used startech hdmi extenders to from the splitter to the monitors. They were used to extended NVR signals.

Superb quality product as always from StarTech. Excellent picture quality & easy functionality.

I hooked up the converter between the Hotwire Fision cable box and my (HDMI) TV and (RCA) surround sound system. Easy as American pie. I was afraid the TV picture quality might suffer by sending the signal through the converter, but it didn’t.

Everything is working great. Now, the next step will be to see if the converter has a long life. You know how electronic things act don’t you? They work one day and the next day they don’t.

This a great splitter. No complaints… except there was not a HDMI cable included, to go from splitter to computer. Had to make a late night run to Office Max for that.1

I debated 4 stars but only because the LED’s are so dang bright. I covered them with some translucent tape and all is good. Works perfectly as expected and advertised. I’m sending signal thru my rv to a 30′ and a 40′ hdmi, and the signal is perfect.

I waited several years to run HDMI through the rv from the single source(s) cabinet and this really helped pull it off. I used Aurum Ultra series HDMI cables – they’re great too.

I just got 2 65 inch 4K Samsung TV’s for our conference room and needed to use a splitter to get content to appear on both screens simultaneously. With this StarTech splitter, the picture quality degraded significantly to where there was snow on both TV’s.

This product is supposed to support 4K, so you would think it would have the best quality. I tried A/C power vs. USB power. I tried the suggestions on StarTech’s support website, which was basically to just reboot everything.

No luck. Quality stinks. So I went to Best Buy and bought the RockFish HDMI splitter and it works perfectly. I know other reviewers have spoken highly about the picture quality; maybe mine is a defective device, or maybe those other reviewers aren’t using 4K.

But, you should know that not all is well with this product. in my humble experience.

Needed to split a display signal and since the dock only supported two external devices, this worked perfectly to display to a third monitor. Granted, the two displays connected to this device are duplicated but perfect for an office setting and used for a meeting/conference.

We needed a device that would take my wife’s HDMI signal from USB-C and output to at least two monitors. Since this has three ports, we’re future-proofed. This device performs flawlessly. It allows for multiple window usage within Windows, so you truly have two (or three) separate screens in which to put windows for working (or playing).

Absolutely fantastic. Takes the output from a single USB-C port on the side of my Asus Zenbook and now feeds two HDMI monitors – one in landcape mode and one in Portrait mode. Well worth the expense.

Works plug-and play out of the box. Highly recommended for those multi-screen installations on your desk.

I was hoping it could allow me to connect two analog monitors to a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 tablet PC. It didn’t work for that, but I tested it with digital monitors and it worked fine.

Startech splitter performed where other splitters failed. HDMI networks are super sensitive to signal degradation. Good quality splitters and cables are paramount. Many cheep splitters claim amplified outputs.

I buy splitters in batches of 10. Usually I find 3-4 splitters in every batch that dont work at all. Not with Startech. Every splitter works, even in network where others failed.

Got this to split my cable box signal to two of my TV inputs. I’m doing this mainly so I can monitor football while also listening to music from my PC (PC has 2 monitors including the tv). Primary connection is everything goes through the stereo, but this allows me to use a different input on the tv, while still using the stereo for the PC and allows for sound through said TV input if I want it.

My only complaint, and it’s not that big of a deal, but while using the DVR functions of quick fast forward and rewind, sometimes the volume disappears. Simple fix is just hit the quick rewind (10 second button) again, and the sound comes back.

This happens regardless of the input I am using. Did not have this issue before installing this box. but again it’s simple enough to just hit the quick rewind and sound comes back. Video quality does not seem to effected.

TV is 65″ LG OLED C1 which I absolutely LOVE!.

It works great as a splitter/copier, but does not extend and HDMI output (which was what I needed for work). Would be perfect if I had to duplicate screen outputs, such as in a sports bar or training session, but sadly I was looking for something that turns one HDMI output into 2 distinct ones.

Also gets a little warm to the touch.

I’ve used a lot of HDMI splitters for pushing multiple displays and screens in different setups for nonprofit and church events. The “fancier” 1×4 or 1×8 splitters have often failed me in a short amount of time, or even short circuited and bricked nearby sound equipment too.

But 1×2 splitters, like this one from Inland, have lasted me many months with no issue. Just be careful to check resolutions on your secondary displays.

Out of the blue my roku and 6 yr old vizio m55 tv would no longer play video. An HDCP warning would be displayed. I swapped hdmi cables, tried a different roku, reset devices etc. Still had the HDCP warning and no video from Roku.

Not wanting to through out a perfectly good working TV for a newer model I tried this splitter. It corrected my HDCP issue and video plays fine from my roku to TV. I highly recommend this if your having the same issue as I did.

It does what it’s supposed to and more and does it without getting hot like many other brands I’ve used. I bought it because my Granddaughter’s PS4 wouldn’t display an image on her TV through a 25 foot extended HDMI cord.

With this device at the end of the extension closest to the TV, it does. It recognizes signals the TV doesn’t and changes it to a signal the TV can. I thought I would give it a try based on past experience using this type of device with a PS3 to get around HDCP for recording gaming on a capture card.

I don’t know the science behind it. I just knew it would work. I’ve also tested it as a splitter and it does produce two images in sync with each other with almost no latency.

I ask for Second day delivery and I receive 4 partial shipments! I lost my client, now I’m stuck with the product!

This Onn 4 device HDMI splitter product sucks and isn’t worth the money. I bought it so that I could hook up my Roku streaming stick, Sony blu-ray player, and Playstation 3 all to my television. This product does NOT support Roku streaming stick.

It does NOT allow signal from the Playstation 3 to pass to the television. So the only thing it does allow to work through it is a basic Sony blu-ray player. This product is a waste of money and a lie to the consumers.

I will NEVER buy another crappy Onn device or product ever again nor would I ever recommend Onn to anyone- NOT even my worst enemies. Complete waste of money.

To use this HDMI splitter you need hdmi cables with high speed capacity. Yes, hdmi have speed rating. You must use an hdmi cable rated at least 4k or higher. I used this to show my nintendo switch oled on 2 tvs.

The cable provided with the nintendo was NOT powerful enough, so i used an 8k rated hdmi cable and the hdmi splitter worked. ALL the connected hdmi cables need to be high speed (4k or greater). This device works by taking 1 input (example a dvd player or game console) and splits the signal onto 2 tvs or monitors.

This is Not for dual screen (where each screen acts independently). This just displays an image on 2 tvs.

As others have noted, the splitter can be a little touchy at times, but overall, it generally did what is was supposed to do. We only used ours once a week for a couple hours at most (i. e. , ~ 2 hours each use), and it went bad after about 15 months.

It could be a workmanship issue with the USB power connection, but I am not positive. We did not need to unplug the item or move it, i. e. , it stayed pretty much in the same location/position once we installed it.

However, when the signal started dropping more regularly, we think we traced it back to the USB as wiggling the connection seems to do something (and it’s not the cord). We bought Rocketfish because it’s a brand we know and expected to last, but we could have purchased one of the disposable no name brands and gotten the same life out of it for half the cost.

Just finished setting up my home office, plugged my two new monitors into the splitter via the HDMI Output 1 & 2, then Input HDMI into my Laptop only to find out that this 2 Output HDMI splitter will not allow a Laptop to split screens or “Extended Display” to two different monitors.

Ie. Showing a Laptop, Montior 1 AND Monitor 2, all seperate screens. It will only recognize 1 additional montor thus only allowing you to mirror the displays. So, don’t be misled by the description of the product.

you CANNOT run two seperate displays from this splitter. you can only display 1 additional image that can be MIRRORED to another display. DO NOT PURCHASE FOR SETTING UP A 3 MONITOR SYSTEM IF YOU WANT TO HAVE 3 SEPERATE SCREENS!.

Using this splitter to connect my desk monitor & TV to my computer. It splits the signal with no loss of picture quality on either screen. Keep in mind this is just a splitter, not a switch. as long as you just want to watch the same thing on both devices (either at the same time or individually), this is an excellent product.

No need to manually turn on/off either signal. it’s always there on both outputs.

Worked as expected, exactly one time. It seems to be well designed, and I give it three stars since it could have been my mistake to purchase this for my purpose, which was to duplicated the public output of PowerPoint onto two different monitors.

After the first successful start up, it would only transmit to one monitor unless I put the same output to every display in my system: the control display and the two public displays. Kinda defeats the purpose.

I’m going from my PC, DVD & Cable to a Onkyo 360 Stereo, which has 4 HDMI inputs, But only 1 output, Now with this Excellent splitter (No loss of Video or Audio), I can use ether or both TVs. In MY case I use the 2nd HDMI input on the 2nd TV.

I also would recommend C2G cables, as my cable tester [NF-622] shows all there internal wires are connected((No worries, if used on Non TV HDMI Connections, Like Security Cameras)). Even tho some less expensive cables are good, to many cables had a lot of OPEN connections [NF-622].

I bought this splitter so i can have two TVs watching college football for my OSU parties. One LCD is on a 6′ HDMI and the other is on a 25′ HDMI (N82E16812816026). Best part is, no picture delay!

I successfully connected my Chromecast (second generation) to my DVI computer monitors using this splitter. There’s one caveat, however, that people should be aware of before purchasing for this task: the Chromecast or the splitter appears to output in a different ‘color space’ than the computer monitor’s default – Computer monitors traditionally use R/G/B color, where the Chromecast was outputting Y/Cb/Cr color.

My monitor had a setting in its menu to use YCbCr/YPbPr colors instead of RGB, so it worked out fine for me, but you should check that your monitor has a YCbCr or YPbPr setting before purchasing this splitter.

Check your user manual, or if you don’t have that handy, start looking through your monitors’ OSD settings.
