20 Best Hat For Big Heads (2023 Updated)

The cooling feature from soaking this hat is very nice. Held up well over 4 ocean camping trips. It does not have a chin strap, so its a little annoying to constantly think about during gusts of wind.

Little small for my sizeable noggin. It will look stupider than you think, but that’s true of every (especially sun) hat I have ever come across. On one occasion I accidentally let the tide take it while setting up camp, and found it on the next day, so there is something to say for its luck.

We’ve purchased 4 of the DPC hats from a local Port Isabel retailer, two of them the soaker hats. With months of 100+ degree temps and high humidity here along the deep south Texas coast, the shade from a hat is imperative, and the better its vented all the better.

We love the style, coolness and comfort of these hats, and when you do soak one, WOW! You’re cool for quite a while. I just wish they included cleaning instructions with the hats or at least on their website.

I like the look and fit of the hat, and the soaking feature kept me cool out on the disc golf course. The lack of a chin strap cord is a bummer, because I can’t really use this out on the mower without it catching the wind and blowing off.

Trying to use a zero turn one handed while catching your hat is tricky. Heck, in the Texas wind, just walking through the park can get windy enough to take it away. Also, my particular hat seemed to be sewn a little crooked.

What I mean is, if you follow the seam on the back of the hat, it doesn’t meet the brim in exactly in the center causing it to sit a bit cockeyed on my head. Didn’t notice it until after I “demo’ed” the soak feature, so I figured it wasn’t exchangeable at that point, nor did I want to go to the hassle for a hat I plan to be outdoors and sweating in anyhow.

Overall, once I figure out a way to install some sort of chin strap cord I think this will become my favorite warm weather hat.

Bought this for my husband for Father’s Day since his other straw hat was ruined last summer. Shipping was super fast and came in well before the holiday! Can’t wait for him to use it this summer!!

This thing is HUGE! By far The biggest hat I own. Great for keeping the sun off your face. The only complaint I have is the elastic friction one size fit all band. it can be a little tight in the head at times.

But over all a great sun hat.

Not happy with the fit. Even though i ordered a large its tight. It fits my husband tight too. We don’t have alien heads so i dont know why its still so snug. Alot of the straw fibers are frayed also.

I was looking for a versatile sun hat that would function comfortably under all circumstances, yet without leaving me looking like an amateur archaeologist. The Seattle Sombrero, in black, seemed to fit the bill.

When it arrived I was thoroughly pleased with the appearance however I was sceptical it was actually breathable, and concerned that the tricot lining would be hot on a hot day. I tried it on and the fit was perfect for size.

One could say it fit like a glove, metaphorically of course. The tricot lining felt soft to the head and the sombrero was quite comfortable. Within the week I put the sombrero to the test on a hike in the Grasslands National Park.

It was sunny and in the high twenties with a typical gusty prairie wind. I could not have been more pleased with my new sombrero. As advertised, it did breathe and wick moisture so that my head remained very comfortable, never getting hot.

It also stood up perfectly to the wind, never even remotely in danger of being blown off my head. I am confident this hat will stand the test of any weather conditions one could encounter on a hike. I could not be more pleased with my new Seattle Sombrero.

It is indeed a splendid sombrero.

This is a nice looking hat. I have the blackish and grey two tone model and it looks good. It is definitely rainproof. I was in a downpour the first time I had a chance to wear it in the rain and it worked great.

The only problem with that (I guess it could be a problem) is the rain beads and rolls off the hat so well that when you move your head, all the water rolls off the hat and right onto your body. So. you are wet anyway.

Just be mindful of that and you can avoid major wetness. The quality of the hat seems pretty nice and I am mostly enjoying wearing it. It definitely keeps the sun off and it is pretty comfortable. Now for the negatives – much like others, I find the sizing to be incorrect.

I have a big head. I have a big head and according to the sizing chart on MJ I should order an XL, I normally wear an XL hat and I typically find this to be accurate when I wear baseball style caps. My wife purchased this hat for me and she got a large.

It’s too big and flies off in a little bit of wind. I HATE chinstraps but end up having to wear the chin strap cinched up almost every time I wear this OR Sombrero. Also, this is a sun hat and it has a fleece like liner on the inside of the hat, similar to a fall or winter fleece beanie I wear.

The sweat just rolls off my head and that liner gets soaked. The hat does seem to breath, but the heat that it retains is noticeable. This must be a newer model because there are no cinch adjustments inside as I have read about earlier models.

The cinch would be great and take care of my sizing issue. The double edged sword of a packable hat is that it’s packable which is nice, but the flimsy design that makes it packable doesn’t give the brim enough stiffness to stay a flat brim in the breeze.

The brim blows up and out of position, leading to yet more adjustments. Lastly, the chin strap doesn’t stay adjusted where you put it. The keeper is not snug enough and it creeps down the straps over time.

Would I buy this hat again? Probably not. It’s nice, but not for 50 bucks. I paid 42 and I wouldn’t do it again. At a cheaper price I could put up with the things that I don’t care for. For an OR “top quality” hat like this.

too many annoyances to do it over again. What do I use my hat for? A LOT baseball games. High school ball, travel ball, practices, etc. I spend a lot of time in the sun and got this hat mostly for that.

It’s ok, but I feel like I could do better. I also use my hat for a lot of fishing. Keeps the sun off me mostly, but again. the issues I have outlined are a hassle. You don’t want to be wearing a hat while fly fishing that needs adjusting so frequently or blows the brim up to put the sun right in your eyes when you are trying to read the water, the fish or flies.

Just my 2 cents from and honest perspective. And for my gender choice (to MJ) I am a male. There is no “other” category.

Pros: – Excellent quality and design. – Goretex material would make this hat amazing for rain, although I did not test it in the rain. – Shape of hat and size of brim provide excellent coverage for face and neck.

– One of rare sun hats offered in black. – Drawstring adjustable chin strap useful for windy days. Cons: – Price, it’s quite expensive but you do get what you pay for, it’s excellent quality. – I bought this primarily as a sun hat, and the soft fuzzy liner made this hat way too hot.

I can see it being an excellent rain hat for cooler days. But I had to return it as I wanted a cool sun hat. Sunday Afternoons makes a similar shape product in a cooler fabric, but does not offer it in black.

I would recommend as a rain hat for cooler days, but it’s just too hot for a sun hat.

This hat fit very well and came in good condition. I decided to embroider on it, and it turned out quite well. I’m excited to wear it outside and see how it holds up!

This is a beautifully made cap that looks even better in person than it does in the photos. The fabric is tough but soft, and workmanship exceeded my expectations. Personally, I dig the design, too – the contrast stitching sets it apart, but it’s still a nice plain hat (e.

g. no logos). I like the light underside of the visor; I can’t explain why, but I just notice and prefer that on my hats that have it. The only thing I don’t like, and the only reason that I docked one star, is that the sweatband has an audibly-crinkly plastic lining that belittles this otherwise outstanding hat.

The part that touches your head is soft fabric, but the other side of the sweatband is lined with that plastic. I can hear it crackling when I put the hat on or adjust its position on my head. I can feel it through the outer fabric.

The rest of the materials are so nice, this one detail makes it feel cheap. The plastic issue notwithstanding, though, I highly recommend this hat. Now, the reason we’re all here – size. I have a 60cm diameter head, and the hats I own that fit me well have sizes from 60 to 63, or 7 5/8 to 7 7/8.

I adjusted the velcro on this to be about 1/8″ tighter than the default setting (i. e. full overlap of both velcro parts) and it feels great. More importantly, my head is more tall than it is wide. So, even though I can find hats pretty easily that are big enough around, most normal and “big head” hats are too shallow for me.

This one is just deep enough – and by “just” I mean that it’s *actually* deep enough but without room to spare, not the I’m-going-to-pull-it-down-hard-and-pretend-it-fits-because-I-like-it kind of deep enough.

It sits on my tall head the way a normal hat looks on a normal person’s head, with the base of the band middle distance between the tops of my ears and where the ears connect to my head. That said, I plan to hand wash this hat when it gets dirty.

I’d love to toss it in the washer, but I know with the 100% cotton fabric (which is very nice) that it’ll shrink to the point that it doesn’t fit anymore. Still, that’s a small, infrequent price to pay for having a great looking hat that actually fits.

I like this hat so much that I’m considering getting the other color. I don’t really need it, but it’s so rare to find a baseball cap that’s deep enough for me that I might splurge, even if I just keep it on-hand for the future.

As always, YMMV. But, if this hat fits you, I think it’ll quickly become one of your favorites. It definitely has for me (currently #2 for best fit, behind the Lamood Big Trucker Retro Hat).

I wear these hats for everything especially being a diesel mechanic. I wear it while working on trucks and have my clip on headlamp for hands free work on diesel trucks. Great hats that fit my big ol melon from getting grease and oil on it.

I have struggled with feeling like a “big man in a tiny HAT” with my 7 3/4 head. Most hats looked like I was wearing my child’s hats. Not today. SIR. Not Today! Today I received my first of what will become many LAMOOD Big Hats! I love my Dad’s hat! It fits so well, the brim is actually sized for my face, and the adjustable back is not all the way to the end, as with other caps! I can’t be more happy with it, well an option to customize it with my logo or such, but as for a HAT, I chose wisely!.

I have a difficult time finding women’s hats for large heads. This one fits perfectly and the style and quality are excellent.

Big for my head but still used. Had to use chin strap to hold on. When ordering no choice on size. Large was only choice.

This hat is, quite simply, perfect in every way! While I typically wear a 7. 5, I bought the Large and crossed my fingers. Luckily, it fits just right! Not too snug, not too loose. I got the olive, and it’s a nice deep shade.

It goes equally well with my olive down coat with gold accents and my olive fall jacket with silver accents. Bonus! I cannot wait to start wearing it and may pick up another color soon. Packing and shipping were flawless.

I ‘hunted’ a long time to find this hat! I have had this Scala hat prior. and I wear it often (get plenty of compliments on it) and love it! It keep rain and snow off me (due to it being wool, of course) Easy to maintain.

This particular hat gave my boyfriend a lot of compliments. I bought this hat years ago but he said he didn’t take care of it the right way sooo when it was showing signs of mildew, he tossed it out.

This hat is great! I’ve gotten so many compliments after only wearing it out a few times. My head size has always been a sort joke. I went into a shop in Seattle a few years back, and the salesperson tried to brush off my concerns about my noggin being too big with some story about successfully fitting Leonardo DiCaprio despite his similar concerns.

After the sizing, they told me I would need an XXXL, and they didn’t have anything like that in stock or on back order. This hat is just a smidge too big and I went with the XXXL. The good news is they have adjustable ties on the inside for those few 1/4″ that you may be off.

Tightening mine up made it the perfect fit-even in windy conditions it didn’t fly off. 10/10 would highly recommend!.

I ordered 3 hats. I love them! To find hats that fit my big head great. However one of the hats was out of stock so even though I gave my phone#, I didn’t hear anything. My order was just held up. There communications were going to my spam.

When I finally got that taken care of and recent hats. One was defective and too small. I don’t have a printer, so I’m having a hard time returning it. So I’m pretty much stuck with it. The other 2 are perfect and I love, love, love them!.

A month or so earlier, I bought a different Walrus hat from Fashionable Hats. That one fit — a medium — as expected. So when I decided to get another hat (this one, the Compass) I bought a medium. It did not fit.

It was too tight and left marks in my forehead. Maybe it’s the difference between a crushable hat and a firm hat. I don’t know. Luckily I have a hat stretcher. After some careful stretching, the hat enlarged just enough to fit fairly well.

Still, the front brim prefers to stay up or level — not the way I prefer wearing a hat prefer.

In wool Fedoras, I have two Baileys, one Dobbs, one Stetson, this Walrus Compass is a nice hat. It is a hard shell like the others, but the wool is thicker, it has real heft. Satin lined, leather sweat band, it’s just a nice hat.

Keep in mind it is a 2″ brim, I like 2 3/8 to 2 1/2, but it is still terrific. I got the olive color, which rounds out the basic colors for me of black, dark brown, gray, tan and olive/jade. For whatever it’s worth my head measures 23 3/8, which puts me at a 7 3/8 or a large.

I always get an XL and for me they seem to fit down on my head better.

I was looking for a crushable and presentable combination rain and sun hat for various outside activities. This met my requirements. I followed the sizing guidelines and it was true to measurement and fits perfectly.

I would recommend Cabela’s and this hat to a friend.

I purchased this because of the style and it was available in size small with a toggle to adjust tightness. I have a small head so that is a must. The lining on the inside is not sewn down all the way.

Just tacked in spots so when you put it on the lining shows around your head. Kind of annoying. Would not purchase this again because of that.

OK, so I figure I’ll risk 15 bucks and see how this hat works. Well, I have to tell you right now that for what I needed – a hat that would keep my head cool, keep the sun off my face and neck, and also not be in the way with my shooting and photography work – this is the perfect hat.

The mesh lets in the breeze. The wide brim keeps the sun out of your face and off your neck. Just flip up the front of the hat and it is out of the way for shooting or photography. Plus, if you soak it, it will really keep your head cool.

The elastic cord around the hat lets you tighten it up for a perfect fit or to keep it on your head in those windy conditions while boating. Plus the adjustable lanyard will keep you from losing the hat if it ever does blow off.

Best 15 bucks I ever spent on a hat.

Totally swell wide-brimmed fedora in a stiffer felt that really holds its shape. Sort of a gray-green color for which “rhino” is the perfect descriptor. Timelessly stylish. One peculiar construction feature: the bow on the hat band seems to located slightly forward of center from where on might anticipate.

There’s no adjusting this as the band is stitched to the crown. I’m unsure of this is a flaw in my example or if all of these are made the same way. In any event, it wasn’t worth sending it back since I like the hat too much and, I daresay, I look really good in it!.

First of all, this hat is orange. Felt may be an ingredient in this hat, but it’s definitely not the main ingredient. It’s very thin and stiff. It almost feels like felt covered cardboard. The band is a super thin ribbon that is visibly stitched on.

Definitely not worth the money. There are loads of other ethical cool hat brands out there in the same price point. Spend your money elsewhere.

I love the color of this hat so much but whenever it is slightly hot out one side of the brim curls up and the other stays flat which maybe wouldn’t bother me so much if the entire brim did that but it’s only the one side.

I have to steam it anytime I want to wear it and if it’s hot out I can’t wear it! I have to constantly be pressing it flat with books and I would love to just put in on the hat rack and be able to grab it when I want to wear it! For a $150 dollar hat I feel like I shouldn’t constantly have to be reshaping it.
