20 Best Hardwood Floor Wax Polish (2023 Updated)

We installed Bella Cera Ruscello GuardaValla engineered hardwood flooring throughout our home several years ago. It comes with a 50 year warranty on the Satin finish. A couple of years ago my wife started applying Bona High-Gloss Polish every few months.

It looks great at first, then over time we started seeing cloudiness and marks. We tried simple ways to clean it, but even the Bona Floor Cleaner wouldn’t clean the cloudiness and marks Their customer support even suggested buying the Bona Polish Remover, but we were at the point if never applying any Bona product again.

We finally called in a professional floor cleaning company who stripped off all the polish and buffed the original flooring, leaving us our original beautiful Satin flooring. It took them 3 1/2 hours and cost us $750 to restore the flooring to it’s original luster.

We will never use any Bona product on our floor again. Just a damp micro fiber pad. We finally called in a 5-star professional floor cleaning company.

I recently bought Bona wood cleaner and I bought a bottle of polish as well after reading the back of the polish and seeing no warnings about using it on pre-treated flooring. I loved the cleaner. I tried the polish on half of my floor because I thought it would enhance the already subtle shine that my pre-treated wood floor has.

WRONG MOVE! Do NOT put this polish on a pre-treated floor or any floor that is already shiny. It created a thin film of gray haze. It was so noticeable next to the half of the floor that I had not used it on.

After trying to order the polish remover online, I found that it was not available at Amazon, Lowe’s, Home Depo, Walmart, nowhere! I called Bona and told them my story. At first they wanted to tell me to put more polish on and that I hadn’t put enough on.

I would not listen to that. Then they sent me a free bottle of polish remover which I was pleased about. My husband and I had to get down on our hands and knees doing small sections at a time, lots of work, arm pain, back issues, to get that polish off our floor.

It took about 10 hours and ibuprofen. Be very very cautious of the polish. It SHOULD be clearly marked on the back “DO NOT USE ON PRE-TREATED WOOD FLOORS”. It is not marked. Further, when I went online I found many other horror stories from people.

I will buy their cleaner again! I loved it! I will never buy their polish again and I warn all of you to be very very careful. They say to use on a small area first, but they do not give enough warning to use it on a very small area, let it completely dry, and then compare it to the before.

These changes need to be made within corporate Bona.

I bought this product and applied according to directions. Any drop of water left a ring where the wax looks like it has disintegrated. Called Bona about problem and said I wanted to take off the wax because it looked so bad.

Bought Bona product to remove and it only partially takes it off so now I have an entire kitchen, dining room and hallway with areas of wax on and areas with wax off. It has totally ruined my very expensive hardwood floors.

Please do yourself a favor and don’t even apply in the first place. You will regret it and spend a lot of money applying and then partially removing the wax.

I have been using this since the early 1940’s, and my mother used it since the early 1900’s. We’ve used this floor wax in our family for over 100 years, and it’s beautiful on hardwood floors, and hardwood furniture.

It also comes in handy to prevent bedbugs from crawling up the legs of your bed, or on the legs of your furniture, if you use a thick coating of it along the first 12 inches of the furniture legs. The compounds of the deodorized naphtha repel insects like bedbugs and fleas from crawling up the furniture legs.

The deodorized naptha also seems to have an effect on them that kills them, too. We will probably use this product in our family for the next 100 years.

always used to use only Butcher’s Bowling Ally Wax. But Aubuchon didn’t have it. Salesperson recommended Johnson paste wax, as he had used it and was very happy with it. Bingo! He was right. Easier/smoother application than Butcher’s and a very nice shine.

This stuff has been used by me and my mentors for decades for keeping our machine surfaces nice and slick. It’s the best stuff you can buy and it lasts forever. My last can lasted more than 10 years.

This us a great little starter kit. First, you need to do your homework because there are no instructions for anything except the controller. I mounted this on my truck’s fiberglass topper. You need to pay attention to the grounding locations on the panel and provide a ground wire and nut and bolt to them.

Yes, you only need one, but I put in two. The cable connector diameter is 1/4″, and connector diameter is 3/4″, but once you put in one cable, you need more room to push through the 2nd 3/4″ connector.

I drilled a 1/4″ hole next to the 3/4 hole to slide the cable out of the way. You will need grommets and sealant, or I used a marine through-hole connector. Sealed, of course. My truck cap is slightly curved – enough that if I had mounted the solar panel directly, it would have put a bending strain on it and possibly cracked in.

I used 1/4″ wood slices to make up the difference. I also bought rubber sheets (8″x 8″) from Ace Hardware to place under the “feet”. The kit gives you everything you need except the 12v battery to which you connect.

Please note that you connect the battery to the controller first. I use my truck in Search and Rescue support, as a radio relay. This solar panel will help greatly in not running down my battery. Surprisingly, the solarpanel was putting out 12.

43v when my truck was *inside* my garage. Yes, AZ is sunny but I was surprised.

This product is great – taking dull floors and making them shine beautifully. It coats the wood floor with a surface shine, which will show dull scuffs if you drag (furniture, etc. ) things across it, but is otherwise durable and really looks great.

Easy to apply – be sure the floors are clean first, then follow with a coat of this product. It is highly rated everywhere I checked, for a good reason.

The monocrystalline 100w panel appears to be well constructed, and provided mounting hardware is good too. Installation on my toy hauler was a breeze. The controller is entry level, but has some nice features like backlit blue LCD screen, programmable load circuit control, and two USB ports.

These are nice to have in a basic kit. Tray and charge cables are robust and high quality, however the charge control terminals are barely large enough to fit the 10 gauge cables into. I had to clip off a few strands of copper on a couple of them to fit them in.

I see why they used 10 gauge though, for future addition of another panel. Be advised that if you do add panel(s), you’ll need a higher amp rating controller. Be prepared to spend another $50 or so for fuses and holders (not included), and custom mounting hardware if needed for your specific application.

We have 57 year old hardwood floors that are still in pretty good condition but we wanted to restore without paying too much money and thought it would be a good idea to give this a try. We tested it out in our guest room since it doesn’t have high traffic and can dry in peace without the family/pets stepping all over it.

I went and bought the Rejuvenate Mop that came with 3 pads ( cleaning, dusting and polishing) and also bought the Rejuvenate Floor Cleaner as well. So the instructions were very simple to follow. Instead of using the dust mop I ended up vacuuming the whole room since we have pets and I wanted to be sure I got all the hair off.

I cleaned it then used the polish as instructed. Be sure that before polishing the floor need to be completely dry! We ended up using two coats of the polish and felt that they looked good enough. The food looked so beautiful and we were impressed.

It didn’t really fill the larger scratches but really did a good job covering the smaller ones. Aside from tired arms I really liked this product and am going to continue using it for the rest of the rooms and hallway.

I received this product and thought it would be almost like mopping my floor. Did not realize there would be so much I’d have to know about my floor before using this! I opted to try the product in an spot no one but me would see… my closet.

I cleaned, and sanded off a 2’x2’ area , I then used the product to test it. Almost like when you’re testing skincare products for the first time hehehe. I followed the instructions and now waiting to see final result.

I’m letting it sit for 48hrs untouched or bothered by anything. I think emptying out my closet was the biggest nuisance, but after that cleaning & sanding off the top with a battery operated sander , then applying product was not so bad.

The area seems very shiny right now, and that’s with little light! Can’t wait to treat my floors with this! May have to buy 2 more bottles I would 100% recommend this to someone who would like to give their wood floors a new life, but do not have the money to hire professionals or can’t change out all their flooring.

It does an ok job adding back shine to dulled out wood floor surface. It’s thin milky fluid that is poured on the floor and mopped once the floor’s prepped/cleaned. It’s an easy application anyone can handle.

The issue I have with it is that it requires/recommends microfiber cloth to mop with it. I happened to have one laying around at home but if you don’t have one, you need to get one or find an alternative.

I didn’t catch that at first and used the papertowel to wipe and it left a film of hazy residue on multiple spots which is unsightly. I mopped the area again with a microfiber cloth and went away. I was concerned it would leave chemical odors but it didn’t.

It contained a lot of different chemical material that makes me wonder what long tern effects it would have on the wood. Overall, it’s a nice product to restore the dull surface if you have a hard time doing with normal cleaning.

I have fifteen year old high gloss floors which have held up really well but the transition strip between the wood and the tile had become dull. The Minwax Hardwood Reviver was great at bringing the luster back to the wood strips! I love that it is water based which makes it easy to apply and not smell too bad.

I cleaned the strips well and let them dry before wiping on the minwax. Since I just needed a small area I used old tee shirt strips to apply and then trashed them after. After drying the wood strips looked great and it did not alter the color of the wood! I have plenty left to touch up as needed.

Seals & shines! We purchased a home with a worn wood floor in kitchen. We plan to install new non-wood flooring eventually but want to protect wood floor from further damage. This product is ideal for our needs, protecting and sealing until we select new flooring.

If you want a different looking floor, this is NOT for you but if you seek to protect and shine up a worn floor, then this is perfect! Easy to apply & spreads easier than Bona similar product. Highly recommend!.

Ok, sooo 10 plus years ago we bought a house with wood floors. The kitchen, dining room and hallways had a high gloss gunstock oak wood floor. There was already some kind of finish on the floor. Every single floor expert I asked told me only ever clean it with water and a little bit of vinegar.

For 10 years I did that. In the wear spots around the kitchen island and in front of the fridge, the floor got really dull so I tried the polish. It looks great. But I’m not putting it on the areas where the finish is still good.

There’s no way in heck I would ever, ever put this on a new floor, but when you’re trying to postpone a refinish anyway i figured what’s the harm anyway. I do use the floor cleaner on the rest and it temporarily looses its luster and streaks if I’m lazy but it goes away and the floor is clean.

Personally I usually spot clean my wood rather than weekly mop the whole thing like you would other floors. I don’t think wood floors are designed to withstand weekly mopping tho I sweep almost every day.

With Covid my house is always occupied because everyone’s working or learning at home so I’m noticing the floor is dirty faster. But if I had a newer floor I’d not use this product until the wear is so bad that you’ll try to help it.

Greetings Sir or Madame: I have been using the recommended Bona with the Young Baby Feet on Front of the Packaging for my Lifetime Mahogany Elm Wood Floors for many years, then I could no longer find it on my local store shelves.

I tried the Newer, Water Based, Blue Colored, Bona, yet I never achieved, the same quality of Performance, as I had previously received, from the Bona mentioned earlier, than while using the Bona with the Young Baby Feet on Front of the Packaging.

I then tried the Bona Polish. It did not work for me. Trying to remove it was a whole new different ballgame. Things became worst. My perfectly Great Looking, Mahogany, Elm, Lifetime, Warrantied, Full of Life, Wood Floors are now Dull, Lifeless, Filled with Streaks.

The point of all of this is, I am not a flooring expert, therefore I do not know the solution to this problem. PLEASE HELP ME FIND, AN IMMEDIATE, PERMANENT FIX TO MY DILEMMA ! ! ! I am Sincerely, Mrs.

What a beautiful finish with very little effort. This week I set out to hand scrub and “wax” my first floor hardwoods that looked dull and dirty. Washed and wiped the floor and reached in the cabinent and found Quick Shine for high traffic hardwoods…I usually use Bruce, but thought I’ll use this up first.

Well I did a substantial portion of the floor before I ran out. So I used the Bruce next…side by side there’s no contest. Bruce made my prepped floor look dull and old next to Quick Shine with its beautiful gloss and like new floor finish.

Soooo after several choice words, I threw the other one in the trash and ordered a large container of Quick Shine. Do yourself a favor. Your hard work should produce beautiful results. In my floor photo the left and upper part of the photo shows a dull worn out look, and the Quick Shine area is on the right and looks like a new floor.

After my husband passed away I moved into an older house with original but very sticky waffle covered hardwood floors. I did my research and after trying many products, none worked for removing the sticky waffle residue.

To make it short, Goo B Gone, Lysol Scrubber sponges, rags, and Quick Shine, made these old wood floors, look remarkably beautiful. So if you have this issue, you will need to get on your hands and knees, and remove the sticky residue with goobgone and with gentle lysol sponges.

You don’t need to pay for expensive floor cleaners. You will need to get down on your floor and do scrubbing and rinsing by hand. After all the sticky is gone, use this QuickShine. It’s been over two years since I did and these old hardwood floors are beautiful and shiny.

It’s very beautiful when its done correctly but I am having problems removing it off the floor because of the uneven settings of the polish leaving streak’s. I have great appreciation for wood floors and upon trying to remove the polish, what it looked like when I tried to clean it with soap and water, didn’t sit well with me or *my floor*.

I was going along with the instructions which leaves me with stress trying to remove it from *the floor*. I enjoy easy to remove floor products. If you do have any suggestions please send me a message.

I’ve been using Orange Glo for many years and never found anything as simple to use that produces such outstanding results. Three-quarters of my circa 1950s home is covered with original hardwood floors.

Looking at these floors you would think they were a recent addition thanks to Orange Glo. Small scratches disappear with a single application. The simplicity of the process makes this a double thumbs up product.

I vacuum up dust and pet hair; use a damp flat microfiber mop and squirt the letter “S” in a 4-foot area, apply with the wood grain and move on. What it looks like wet is pretty much what it looks like dry.

The added bonus is the natural orange scent. I tried other products and some dull my floors and others just don’t look clean and glossy. Orange Glo is, was and has been the best product of this type for decades.

I beg you, please do NOT buy this for your dark hardwood floors. I have very dark and real hardwood floors. This polish completely destroyed my floors. My home is less than 2 years old and I bought this to see if it would add a bit of shine to my floors, and to my dismay, it made a light blue stain on my floors.

You can actually see where I placed the Orange Glo. I scrubbed for hours and this stuff won’t come off. I took to Google and that’s when I read all of the horror stories. Come to find out that this “glue” only comes off with ammonia/water (1/2 cup ammonia + 1 gallon of hot water) and lots of scrubbing.

You can also use Windex bc it has ammonia in it. Once applied, you can visibly see the Orange Glo. It looks like a milky substance. I then took my scraper and started scraping this garbage off of my wood floors, panel by panel.

It will literally take me months! I can see this working temporarily for light wood or faux wood, but please do not put this on dark wood. Once you try and remove it, it turns into white flakes everywhere.

This stuff should be banned or come with a warning label. Thank you Orange Glo for destroying my very expensive floors! I truly hope a massive lawsuits hits you. Google “How to Remove Orange Glo” and you will see the massive amounts of horror stories.

Please don’t make the same mistake I did!!!.

I have my 2 nieces at my house for the holiday. I gave them some of my old makeup to play in. My God why did I do that. They had makeup all on my wooden floors. Like they just stomp it in hard. I used the floor cleaner/ polish to get it all up.

I love it. My floor had a beautiful shine and a nice fresh scent. The price is affordable and it did what is said it would do. SHINE! Make sure you clean the floor first then use the polish. Let it dry completely before you step on the floor.

I had old dull floors that my family used to wax. I vacuumed and mopped them and let them dry. I put on one coat of quick shine and in some areas was dull. I read that I didn’t have enough quick shine on there.

So I put another coat. Let it dry and put on a third coat. I would apply a coat and let it dry completely for a day before I added another coat. I would let it dry for an hour before walking on it. That did the trick.

This item was recommended from someone I follow on cleantok. She’s a professional house cleaner and had a video with the results. So I decided to try it. I absolutely love how easy this is! And the results are fabulous.

Awls you need is a microfiber mop and you squirt the stuff out of the bottle and spread it around with them up. That’s simple.

I was pressed by this product’s ability to restore the shine of the hardwood. I was used to only simply clean the wood floors with ordinary wood floor cleaners resulting in a shiny floor for about half an hour after which footprints where visible again.

Frustrating and horrifying. This product produces a lasting shine and protects against footprints. Very pleasing results. However its ability to hide scratches is not that great. Definitely a must have product to use intermittently between usual cleaning.

BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT USE ON DARK WOOD. ANYTHING THAT SPILLS ON THE FLOOR WILL JUST LEAVE A UGLY STAIN. WILL LEAVE PERMANENT FOOT MARKS AND STAINS. IF U CANNOT STAND A SMUDGY FLOOR STAY AWAY! AND TAKING THIS OFF YOUR FLOOR IS A NIGHTMARE.

This is not the product that I actually posted but I couldn’t find it this might be close not sure but the stuff I posted is great for wood, linoleum, tile and concrete. It is a 2 step process you start cleaning your floor with the cleangrime floor cleaner let dry and then apply the floor polish it gets all the dirt and grime you would be totally surprised!! It leaves your floors shiny and clean!! I recommend this as j think you will love it!!!.

I used this product on my kitchen (laminate) and bathroom (tile) floors for the first time, two coatings. The shine was good at first, but walking left permanent dull paths on the floors in just a few days.

A week after the application I mopped the floors with warm water, and the floor finish started to peel off immediately, leaving a streaked mess behind. It took many hours to remove it and the kitchen floor is now damaged.

This purchase was a total waste of money and my time. I will never buy anything of that product line again.

Do not use this product! I used it ONE time and my floors are a mess. It scratches where my dog has walked and where chairs move at the dining table. If you miss one single hair it is stuck for good.

Getting this crap off has been a headache, and I REFUSE to buy the cleaner this company sells to get it off. I already waisted my money the first time. If you use this, RIP To your floors, back and money.

The shine for the first 5 minutes was nice to look at though.

My mother really liked this product. Always left a clean feeling, smooth and beautiful shine on tile floors. We did not use it on her wood floors. We give it only three stars as it clumps and clogs multiple spray mops.

When we strained it there were clumps in the bottom of the bottle, I can only imagine it is the baking soda in the product not dissolved correctly?? Will try to contact the company to make them aware of the problem.

My parquet floor has taking a lot of abuse over the last five years from my little girl, so needed a revive. After lots of reviews i selected this polish. Goes on easy with an applicator and dries within the hour.

However i wouldn’t call this a gloss effect, more a satin sheen. But three applications and the scratches are almost gone and the floor looks much better.

Best wood floor polish I have bought. Brings floors up shiny without any build up. Will always buy.

Used this on varnished pine kitchen floor. There were some areas which were quite heavily stained by dark marks from shoes. It did get the floors quite clean and left a nice shine but didn’t completely remove the stains even when used neat.

I’d probably use this for general day to day floor cleaning but will need something a little bit more heavy duty to get my floor spotless and stain free.

We purchased the Pledge Clean It Gentle Wood Floor Cleaner and Revive Floor Gloss to use on our 20 year old Tarkett engineered laminate flooring. We had regularly used Bona floor cleaner but wanted to kick the finish up a notch.

Applied per instructions, we were pleased with the performance of the cleaner. The Revive is another story. We found that the best way to apply it was with a cotton Sh-Mop system that we have used for years with the Bona.

Application had to be rather quick as the Revive tended to ‘dry out’ and smear without really drying out. Afterwards, it can be said that the floors were indeed shinier BUT the positives end there. Even though the floors are more shiny, they left a finish that is much more “grabby” without being sticky.

There is no slide to the treated areas as on the original floor finish making chairs MUCH more difficult to push up to the table. We have used semi-hard plastic slides on the chair legs for years – they screeched and were very hard to push after using the Revive.

I then replaced the plastic tips with felt pads which fared no better. Even though our floors did have areas that were more worn than others, we both agree that that original finish is/was preferred rather than the Revive disaster.

We will not be making that mistake again – keep the Revive for making glitter Christmas ornaments and off your floors! SC Johnson, any response?.

This product left a white patchy film on my brand new laminate floors! I’m so upset! How do I remove it?! EVERYTHING!! Dust, footprints, sticks to the floor and after applying this product my floor has never looked clean again.

I hope my floors aren’t ruined. We just put them in through the whole house and I applied this product.

I bought this product to use on wood look tiles, at first I was pleased with the lovely shine and color of the tile. Then life happened. My husband sat of the bar stools in the kitchen = scratched surface (I let it cure for 2 days before using the stools) then my dog had an accident = finish disappeared in the shape of her urine puddle.

The finish has continued to scratch easily. I emailed rejuvenate and they did reply is a short amount of time but the reply was to let to floor cure for 2-3 days before sliding furniture over it (areas that had not been used for 4 days wore off in a similar fashion).

They also said that dog urine will remove the surface – this is not mentioned on the web page or bottle that I could find. I will be removing this product from my floors. Please note the two about considerations when using this product.

It may have worked better on wood floor but not the tile despite being on of the valid floor types.

Been doing floors for 25 years. I have been using Zeps high traffic for the last 5 and really like it. The price on this is a bit high but i thought I’d try it, if it shined better with fewer coats would offset the cost especially in labor and time.

UNFORTUNATELY it does not shine better with fewer coats in fact it didn’t shine as well as the zep high traffic with the same number of coats. The wet look also drags quite a bit while applying, especially on the first coat.

Can’t say about how it will hold up yet but if your wanting a cheaper floor finish that does shine really nice go with Zeps high traffic for finish. Also any floor finish you buy needs 3-5 coats to give a really good shine.

I see so many reviews complaining that they had to use 2 or more coats. That’s every floor finish out there that’s just how it is so whatever you buy give it a real test and use the recommended 3-5.

While this product may NOT be recommended for laminate flooring, we have used this product several times over the course of years. We apply this OVER the Zep Stain Resistant Floor Sealer (applied as per instructions on jug).

The floor sealer alone gives a quite nice finish to the floor and with the Wet-Look Floor Finish it is, in my humble opinion, OUTSTANDING. We own a couple of rental properties and anyone who is in the same situation is familiar I am sure with how they get treated.

25 year laminate is lucky if it lasts 5 years and these products have extended that life considerably. I apply the sealer and finish immediately after installation of a new floor and there has been no issue.

Obviously you would not soak the floor in either, but a good, wet application does the trick. The product dries quickly and does not appear to have adverse effects on the laminate, quite the opposite.

I HIGHLY recommend these products.

I recently received the product and am testing it on a small part of kitchen wood floor. The first app went on well but when dry did not leave the gloss I was hoping for. Granted, it has been over 10 years since the anything except a cleaning has been applied so I have applied a second coat and will see how that works.

Anything is better than nothing to try an preserve the wood flooring! Now – a couple of things. When applying, be careful that not too much of the refresher is squirted on the floor at once. Hard to do because refresher is pretty thin and comes “flying” out of the bottle.

Too much refresher is hard to smooth out. And if you don’t smooth it out all the way, that is when you will get white streaks. Practice I am sure will make perfect! Also, after you remove the sealer underneath the screw cap and gently rock the bottle back and forth, as instructed, before applying, the refresher WILL leak out from underneath the screw cap – at least that has been my experience.

I am looking forward to completing the kitchen wood floor, admittingly which have not taken proper care of the last 10 years, with this product.

I am beyond thrilled with this product. My biggest regret is spending money on the polisher products previously along with a Hoover Floormate. I received the Bona Refresher this afternoon and completed the family room and kitchen asap.

I used the Bona polish applicator pad making sure to rinse OFTEN. I have Versini Novara Tawny Brown Birch Engineered Hardwood Flooring which was installed in 2012. This product has the areas I’ve completed looking like a new install.

I am proud of myself for taking a chance on this Bona Refresher! The pictures show my dry kitchen floor and another view showing the difference with an area not completed. Make note the areas I applied the product were clean and dust free.

I am planning to take my time and not move back any furniture until the floors are completely dry. Bona Pro Series Wt760051163 Hardwood Floor Refresher, 32-Ounce.

We have natural oak floors, with a 10 year old house and they were showing a little wear. With 3 cats, and 2 kids I really didnt want to get them refinished yet, so I thought I would try this after much research.

I followed the directions on the bottle exactly and let them dry overnight after cleaning with bona hardwood cleaner (which I normally use for cleaning). I would also buy the exact applicator pad recommended, the pro series microfiber applicator pad, NOT the reg bona mop pad, and rinse it well before first use to remove any loose fuzz or lint.

Also dont lift the mop until the end bc it will leave some bubbles. I also used a paintbrush along the edges and corners. I will definitely use this again!.
