20 Best Hard Roll-Up Tonneau Cover (2023 Updated)

Went on without much issue, directions are fairly clear. Upon closing the tailgate, realized I need to raise rear of the side rails to allow a touch more room under them. I did, closed the tailgate and promptly cut into the plastic tailgate top with the side rail.

Raised the side rails a touch more, again, it closes without cutting into the plastic tailgate cover if I pay attention. tailgate section where the side rails overlap the tailgate, isn’t fully thought out, needs some attention.

Love this cover. Installed easily on our 2015 F150 5. 5 box. Instructions were very good–but found a few YouTubes to be helpful to learn a few tips. The only issue we have is with adjusting the straps to easily tie it down.

This was a bit of a hassle and is still a little difficult to use. But this is a great cover–great it doesn’t use box space and it is so easy to use overall. Would recommend and we loved the deal we got from Auto Accessories Garage.

The gasket on the rear underside of the cover was install crooked. Within three pulls of the release cord it completely disconnected from the right latch. After investigating I found that the wire cable ferrule used had not even been crimped so the cable pulled right out.

The parts sent to fix the cable was just that, a bag of parts. No instructions. Bad experience.

Easy install, fits well, good materials. The quality control on it or potentially the design itself is not so good. When rolling up the teeth will on the closest few slates come out of being locked and I have to finangle it to go back into place to lock it back down which sometimes takes several minutes.

There’s also a lot of glue on around the metal where it gets hung up, which could be the cause or a jerryrig during QC. The other thing is the 2 tabs at the rear pop off really easy and make it easy access to the latches, which make it not so secure for break ins.

The unit was easy to install. I think it will be more secure than the tri-fold bed cap I had before. I do not think it will be as water resistant as the tri-fold because the seals are minimal. The manufacture quality is not as good as it should be.

The cover had all sorts of left over machining chips rolled up in it. It seems like it was rushed through production as the seals were not installed properly or had fallen off during shipping. The end of the side rubber strips that seal the tailgate once it is closed pulled off the first time I shut the tailgate.

I would gladly wait an extra week or two to receive a unit that was manufactured properly.

I have a 2016 ram 1500 big horn with the ram box. The roll back cover is poorly engineered! One of the rail was cut thinner than the other and it was very difficult to slide it onto the factory rails! I ask that you have some assembly skills before installing it yourself! Also, I know it’s not 100% water proof but this cover had gaping holes that allowed water to enter as if I didn’t have the cover on it.

I had to make modifications myself to close up the holes. Overall I like the cover but I think the company should re-engineer this cover!.

Great cover. Looks really good. Had a really hard rain a few nights after it was installed and it did not leak. Took two of us a little over two hours to remove the original cover and install the new one.

It was good that the person helping me had installed one of these covers before. So far, well pleased with the new cover.

What a great looking cover!! I was hesitant to spend this much on a cover but so glad I did! This runs almost $1900 on many websites but got the best deal here at $1690! Great customer service here AAG! The cover is pretty easy to install with a little help from someone to lift the assembled unit onto the truck.

Installed on 2016 Ram 2500 6. 4′ bed. The only minor complaint is that the bolts for the clamps are only long enough for the ones installed closest to the tailgate(2″ bolts). I had to go to the hardware store and get two longer bolts(3″x3/8) for the clamps used closest to the cab–kind of a pain, but not a big deal.

Also, ran the truck through the wash and only had a couple drips inside. The cover is a bit stiff rolling at first but will loosen up somewhat–use paraffin wax inside the rails as recommend by the instructions, and make sure you have equal width measurements from front to back.

Nice clean look! Easy to install by myself in a couple hours. One of the plastic drain fitting was broken. I wish the 2 drain fitting were not plastic as I feel they are very vulnerable to breakage because they stick straight down.

Very Cheap poor design. A welded aluminum 1/2FNPT Hub would have been my design then a brass 1/2 MNPT x 3/8 M hose barb 90 elbow can be installed. This would last then! The bolts that stick out for the latch also very light weight and feel anyone could pry it open.

Never been a big fan of trucks with tonneau covers, but this makes my truck look awesome. Low and sleek design. Tight around the corners. Prevents any sort of prying hands and eyes from viewing from any side or angle.

Quality materials. Tough and strong as described. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a strong quality tonneau cover with the ease of this hard rolling cover that my 3 year old daughter can roll too!!! Just great.

I absolutely love this cover. 2 friends have it and recommended it to me. I have had snap covers and tri fold in the past but this one trumps them all. By far! I was leary of the price tag but I ended up getting a great deal after chatting with a sales associate here.

It’s easy to install, directions were very clear. Was certainly worth the extra cash. Construction is top notch. Only gripe was it took a while to ship, but it was free. I highly recommend this cover.

Really like this product, its the second one I’ve bought. One for a 2013 Tundra and now for a 2017 Tundra. This one was a little different than the first, watched the video, read the instructions, and everything worked out GREAT.

Took me a little longer than planed ( I’m 75 years young) but all ended well. Looks great, fits great!.

I didn’t think about the cold/snowy weather when I purchased. Even with a half an inch of snow, there is no real way to roll this up without a struggle. Also, the latch mechanism is temperamental when it is below freezing.

Today in fact, I have to warrantee the latch because one side broke in the cold. Short story – If it’s going to be cold and icy outside, keep it rolled up??? I don’t know if any other cover would do better in the snow and ice.

This is my first tonneau cover so I do not have anything to compare. Looks great though and doesn’t move a bit when traveling. Did a good job keeping the elements out when traveling for Christmas. Very little leakage! Rating isn’t based on the snow issue but the latch should certainly not break after 2 months.

This is third Bak Revolver cover Ive owned and will never own a different cover. The newly designed X4s has made some great improvements. First, getting rid of the glued on felt from the previous model was the best thing they could have done.

Second, the black powder coated underside just look so much better. Third, the rounded end caps that overlap the tail gate create a much safer edge. And lastly, the new mounting hardware makes installation a breeze.

Awesome cover!.

Pretty easy to install. I did it myself, but it would be easier with two. It looks great on my truck and I love the low profile. The added security on the side rails makes this cover almost as good as having a huge trunk on the back of my truck.

The only negative I have is that it leaks at the front corners. There is a good sized gap at the front of the rail which is covered by the rubber seal, but the seal does not seal. In a heavy rain, water gets up under the seal and into the truck bed.

If you’re moving, this probably isn’t an issue. But if the vehicle is stationary you can accumulate a good bit of water. and unless the truck is perfectly level, it will puddle until it finds its way out the back or one of the two drain holes at the front.

Great product. I just got the the new Nissan pro-4x and started looking at bed covers. Found the rough country low profile, watched/read some reviews. Being made in America was another huge plus. It arrived within 4 days of ordering, and the instructions are very straight forward.

If I was able to put this together in less than 30min, anyone can. Only recommendation during set up, make sure you follow for the proper model. I wasted 10min trying to set it up, only to realize, I was following the Titan instructions, so totally on me.

Love it! Fits perfectly, and I can now throw all my gear in the bed and not worry about it over night.

I ordered this just from the product information. It came in a was so simple to install and fit perfectly. I love it and makes my new 2020 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X look great. But what really impressed me was Rough Country’s service.

When my cover arrived it had a hole in the box and upon inspection whatever made the hole had impacted the cover so hard it almost punched a hole threw it. Rough Country immediately offered to ship a new one out right away if I so wanted.

And I was leaning that way but the damage was on the underside of the cover with just a small bulge on the top. The gentleman told me that he was sure if I kept it they would reduce the price. I thought about and decided to keep it.

The very next day they contacted me and gave me a substantial discount which was almost immediately credited to my account. I can’t say enough of just how impressed I am with my new cover and Rough Country’s Customer Service.

This is the second cover I have had for my trucks. The cover fits great on my new 2022 Pro 4X Nissan Frontier. The only problem I had was that the rails were too long by 6 1/2 inches. I could not close the tailgate.

I figured it out and used a saws-all to cut them down to fit the truck then filed down the rough edges. No real issue I was able to put the plastic end caps over where I cut them and they are as good as new.

I would recommend this cover to anyone that is looking for a cover for the 2022 Nissan Pro 4X Frontier.

Having used a previous BakFlip product I had high expectations for this product. While overall it is a high quality product that is well made, I had a couple of issues that kept it from being a 5 star review.

There was slight product damage that appears to have been caused either in shipping or original packaging causing small impressions where the panels overlapped within the packaging and rubbed on each other during transport or storage.

Not bad enough to return but noticeable. I also had difficulty with the latching mechanism on one of the panels. It was a little too wide and despite multiple adjustments it still sticks during latching and unlatching.

I’m hoping this will improve as the product gets used more and the latches start to wear. Installation is fairly straightforward and accomplished easily if you watch the videos available on the BakFlip website but an extra set of hands is helpful because it is a heavy product to lift into position on your own.

I am still a huge fan of BakFlip despite these issues and would purchase again. Auto Accessories Garage made the purchase easy and straightforward as usual.

Great product. Was unsure of fit bit rides above my fifth wheel and tool box. Keeps everything secure under cover. Easily installed with two people, takes about 35 mins with socket/ratchet, screwdriver and isopropyl alcohol.

Cover is almost exactly the width of my bed, in order to close, I have to wiggle each panel into place. The latches for the cover could not be adjusted to close. I had to re-drill, and reposition all of the latches.

My kit did not have all of the angle shims to correctly install the rails. BAK is telling me that the parts that I need two more of do not exist. What??? The support rods to hold the cover are flimsy, and one of the brackets have come off of the poorly riveted frame.

Not happy.

This is the best truck cover by far, I install it on both my 14 and 15 Ford F-150, both took me less than 30 minutes a piece. On my 17 Ford F-250 got the cover installed in about twenty minutes but couldn’t get it to release, after uninstalling, adjusting and reinstalling the cover still wouldn’t release tiring up a lot of time with a lot of adjusting when I realized the passenger rail was binding, it is sticking when you do the release so the silver locking piece stays in the down position, I give a little push and it releases.

Maybe after I keep using it, it will loosen up, right now it’s just a little inconvenient, but I love my Revolver X2 cover.

Very good versatile product. The roll up feature is great as it gets out of the way when you need the cargo space. Does not impair rear vision when rolled up. The tonneau is flush so it looks great!

The only reason I gave 4 stars is due to some water leaks around the front and the rail fate. I believe i can a little more weather stripping to fix the issue. Great quality cover, rolls up easily from one side of the truck, high quality construction.

Shipping was fairly quick and it took me about 2 hours to install it. Some of the time was to figure out the special instructions for my truck as it has the Utilitrac system in it and the supplemental instructions were not as clear as they could have been.

Other than that it was pretty straight forward. I did it myself which added a little time, use some spring clamps to hold the rails in place if you don’t have a helper. Looks great and seems to be pretty water tight so far.

A little confusion in the directions for installing the tensioner pieces but I eventually figured it out. Would recommend have “how to” vids on website step by step because directions in paperwork as with a lot of products a little confusing.

But okay overall. I’m very pleased and it looks good. After worrying how the the cover would roll out and snap in, I rolled it out and it snapped in nice and tight so I was happy. Then the tailgate test.

As they say in directions, may have to adjust back clamps if tailgate doesn’t sit right against cover but thankfully mine shut nice on my 2016 Nissan Frontier. Also AAG has very good customer service! Thanks!.

This is a good looking, easy access cover. I have been wanting a bed cover for some time, but didn’t know what type I wanted. I chose this roll up cover for easy open bed use. A great choice. I can easily roll it forward,securre it, and have full use of the bed.

Closed, it loooks great and offers good protection for items in the bed. Highly functional and just what I needed.

I purchased this cover at a really good savings and the cover is perfect for what I need done. Ive had a full solid cover and trifold on different vehicles and they all leak some water, and cost a lot more.

I just wanted something to keep stuff dry with minimum ease of removal when needle and also keep my truck looking nice. This cover fits the bill. Plus 3year warranty cant go wrong. Plus it was really easy to install.

First, shipping & packaging: The item arrived early, was well packaged, and came w/ all parts necessary. Instructions were fairly clear. Having never set up a tonneau cover before, setup was fairly simple.

It took a few adjustments to get right, and I’d recommend that one takes their time and checks/rechecks alignment throughout the process. Overall, setup took ~45 min. , and the end result was a tight-fitting, professional-looking cover.

So now that it’s on, how does it behave on the road and exposed to the elements? So far, so good! We had a pretty nasty rainstorm and the leather held up well – there was the usual debris of leaves and stick and it seemed none worse for wear all things considered.

The tailgate opens/closes with ease with the cover fully closed, ensuring some level of security (obviously one can rip through it if they wanted but that’s a slim chance. ) Things I don’t yet know: How it handles with a lot of snow on the top, how it handles truly rough rain (particularly on the highway), and how the velcro holds up.

I’ve heard good things about each of these, but cannot attest to them (yet. ).

Purchased this kit for my 01 Silverado stepside, instructions were basic, but adequate. You can tell that the stepside model was kind of an after thought because the mounts actually SCREW to the inside of the bed/box instead of clamping.

The holes in the aluminum hardware weren’t deburred when they arrived, but that was easily fixed. That’s really my only complaint with this. The cover is very taunt and moves very little when latched in place.

Since it opens from the inside, I added a locking handle to get a relatively safe area to stow things; it’s almost like having a big trunk. The cover keeps most all water out and looks great. I picked this over others for its low profile- the pictures speak for themselves.

Mine stands about 1/4 inch above the bed. I’m happy with it!.

Part was delivered in a timely manner. It was packaged well and everything was there like it was supposed to be. Installation was pretty easy. Fitment is perfect and it doesn’t stand out too much on the truck.

Install was easy on my 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD. It took about an hour and that’s with being very precise with matching the rail height on both sides. Supplemental instructions were included for my make and year vehicle to help with specifics.

I had the Truxedo on my previous truck, which I liked, but I also like the Access Vanish because it almost isn’t noticeable from next to the truck. It seems to be weather tight except for around the tailgate, which I’ll have to add a tailgate seal kit soon.

I had debated whether to buy a regular Access cover like the one I loved on my old truck but I was attracted to the low profile of this cover. I love the way it looks – it is barely visible above the bed from a side view.

In all other ways it is as easy to use and reliable as my old cover. I do wish the instructions were a little better however, especially the section pertaining to attaching the cover to the front of the bed.

With clearer instructions this would have been a 20 min. job.

To start. I am a female and had to install this myself so I was looking for one that would be easy. I didn’t want anything that I was going to have to drill or anything like that. I had a hard time at first so I pulled up a video on the Access website on how to install it.

it was a breeze after I watched the video. Very good quality. I haven’t noticed any water getting through the cover but it does get dust in the bed. not too bad though, nothing to worry about. I got my cover very quickly, no problems there.

The instructions could be a little clearer but after watching the video it all made sense. I’m happy with my purchase!.

Ordered this on a Sunday over the holidays and expected it to take a while given the weekend. Showed up at my door on Tuesday morning. I unboxed and installed within 20-30 mins only because I was taking my time since it seemed to simple.

Great construction and easy to use. I transport electronics and hate having to move everything into the cab with the two carseats every time I leave the truck over 10 mins. Problem solved. We had some good rain for a week straight and only a few drops made it into the bed where the tailgate openings are.

I solved that problem by getting the tailgate weather stripping from Amazon. Overall great construction, secure, weather proof and most of all great looking design !! I highly recommend.

Every cover seemed to come with some drawbacks, but this appeared to be the most useful for the kind of hauling I do. Installation was pretty easy. My 14 year old son did most of it. There are only 2 little things that could use improvement.

The catches that hold the rods up when not in use are too flimsy and the rods come out of them. Also, the knobs that tighten the slider for the rods have come loose while while driving(with cover closed).

Small amount of water getting in somewhere.

2019 Silverado 3500HD Dually. Looks great. Set screws that supposedly need minimal or no adjustment at each securement bracket way off!! Took forever to get same width across bed. Rears are backed all the way out.

Still rolls very stiff and weather stripping from guide to top of cover is damaged on both sides. More water getting in than I like from the side rails.

This cover was exactly what I expected based on the reviews. Great product that was delivered prior the expected date. Although installation was easy, it did take a little longer than expected It appears that I did not receive the correct instructions for an 8′ box.

The instructions only referenced four clamps but this had six of different sizes. Took a little trial and error but got it right eventually. One person could do 95% of the install alone but you will need a 2nd to drop it in.

Have had the Retrax ProMX on my Silverado for about 2 weeks now and it looks awesome on a white pickup. I also got the wider rails which cover up the stake pockets but no biggie for me. Installation took about two hours only because I have a BedRug and it was a pain to install the drain tubes for the cover.

Have had some heavy rains since I got it. The back 3 inches of the bed gets wet but other than that, it stays dry underneath. Love the look and performance so far!.
