20 Best Hard Clumping Cat Litter (2023 Updated)

I was excited to try this Arm & Hammer HardBall Lightweight Litter. It weighs 8. 5 pounds! It is packaged in a sturdy bag. It has detailed information on the back of the bag that lets you know how to transition kitty to the new litter.

Let me say that I have 14 cats and several boxes for the ones who are inside. We buy litter based on price and what works. Transitioning litter is not a difficult thing for us. I typically only buy clumping clay litter.

This litter is like sand. I have a container for our litter so if you keep it in the bag, just know the bag is not resealable. This litter is a nice change from other litters. The only downside we have is the acent.

It’s not necessary. I have seen reviews where people don’t mind the smell but i have sensitivity to smells and this was overpowering. I asked my husband and friends and they all said based on the smell it would not be something they’d buy.

I hope that this will be offered unscented. It is really like us buying scebted toilet paper. Really not a good idea. With our amount of cats our next question is how does this work? It appears to work excellent.

Appears to clump nicely, easy to scoop, with little to no mess. Hopefully this will be offered in larger quantities (40 pounds) and not scented.

My cats are very picky when it comes to cat litter. It has to be right in texture for their paws and has to have a pleasant smell to them. This was a big hit for them when they tried it. With them you can not mix it or gradually introduce them to it as I said texture and smell mixing they do not like.

So I put another litter box down with this in it and they took to it right off the bat. They where over there as soon as I put it down. In no time at all they was using it over the other I have been using for years.

It is so much easier to get the urine and the poop out with this litter. And there is so much more less of a smell that I can hardly smell it. Sometimes I forget its new litter and wonder if they have used it at all.

And lightweight so for someone with back issues like me it is a major plus. It does track a little bit but putting down a mat that is made for it helps so much with it. I do not think my cats will be accepting to me even trying to use the old litter again.

This litter looks a lot like sand in both color and consistency. The directions recommended placing some of your cat’s current litter on top of the new litter for an easy transition. My cat easily switched to using this litter.

It has a pleasant smell and seems to trap and contain the cat’s odors. My cat does seem to trail more litter out of the box than usual with this version. My only complaint is the packaging. The bag it comes in is not resealable.

I like when litter is in a box or container that can be closed so I don’t have to worry about accidentally knocking it over. It clumps well without becoming like glue to the sides or bottom of the litter pan.

It is very lightweight since it is more like sand than clay.

Tidy Cats brand litter has always been my ‘go to’ litter. Sadly, my confidence in the brand has been greatly compromised by the last box of Tidy Cats Instant Action I purchased. I am now in search of a brand that delivers what is stated on the packaging and in the marketing.

My first complaint is that clearly, the formulation for this product changed and consumers were not notified. I’ve been using this formulation and others without significant issues for many, many years.

This latest box, however, stunned me. My second complaint is that this litter literally tracked EVERYWHERE in my house – three floors – and everything in my house has a layer of litter dust and kitty paw prints on it.

I keep litter boxes in the basement, as far away from the living spaces as possible and always have. I was absolutely astounded at how far the litter and dust traveled. Of greatest concern was the dust.

I was cleaning the litter box one day and noticed that my chest began to burn. Only after I finished cleaning the litter box and moved onto other things around the house did I realized that the burning had subsided.

I attributed the burning to the dust and have worn a mask since then when cleaning or filling the boxes I have no idea how this product / change in formulation made it to market. I will be cleaning up dust and litter for weeks to come, even though I’ve replaced the litter with another product.

It is no longer a good product. It used to be a great product, clumping very quickly and forming a very tight clump (regarding urine). Starting several months ago (June 2022 or earlier), something changed – it no longer clumps as tightly nor as quickly.

When you try to scoop up the urine, the clump breaks apart leaving small pieces – including pieces that pass through the scooper. Also, because it doesn’t clump as quickly, the urine can make its way to the bottom of the litter pan where it forms a sticky clump that is cumbersome to scrape out and remove.

Reviews of this product on the websites of the major “big box stores” are full of these same comments. While many people rate the product highly – many people are also complaining that the litter doesn’t clump as well or as quickly – exactly what we’ve experienced.

We placed a call to Purina’s customer service department and provided all the information they requested. The response was that “there has been no change to the product or its ingredients”. That being said, we stand by our statement and observations – “something” changed – and not for the better.

Considering the high price of this product, it is a big disappointment – and has forced us to try and find a better product. Too bad – this was a “10”, now it’s a “2”.

I have used this litter since I adopted my cat three years ago. I tried a few others in between but always came back to it. The quality use to be great but now it’s gone. There’s so much dust in my house it seems I no matter how much I clean there’s no difference.

This litter tracks like crazy. Somehow even over a higher divided that I have to separate the bathroom tile from the carpet. The clumping is absolutely embarrassing and the odor control is absolutely none.

At this point I’m scooping out pebbles because it does not clump together. It disintegrates and into powder and I can’t clump it. The box is dirty even after cleaning. Even if I wait the litter barely covers the solids and the balls of urine fall apart.

My house smells like literal poop because it can’t even control urine in an enclosed box. I am so upset at the decline in quality but the increase in price in 2020-2021. In short, house smells like pee and poop, can’t clean away said smell because clumps fall apart or only form small pebbles, and this tracks all over the place.

The vacuum can barely pick it up since it’s so small and fine. After giving it another chance, I will definitely be switching litters.

I’m not the biggest fan of clay and wanted something sustainable, but since my cats were on clay in the cat cafe, I bought this originally to help in the transition to corn litter. Well here I am again.

World’s Best was too dusty, leaving my black cat lookin like she attended Ash Wednesday every day. My tortie cat also has some kind of allergies so dusty litters wouldn’t do. Ever Clean has a mild scent despite being labeled “unscented” and Dr.

Elseys was the worst to scoop, even though I did it once or twice a day. Sustainably Yours had too small of granules, which stuck to my cat’s pants. So I’m back, begrudgingly admitting that this is the best litter for my cats so far.

I can’t speak to the change in formula since it’s been almost a year since I used this litter, but it still seems to do the job with odor control and dust. It could probably track less, it’s heavy, and I still don’t love that it’s clay, but at this price point and until I find something more sustainable, I’ll be keeping this on hand.

I was using a different “Fresh” brand. A kitten we just adopted seems to have some allergies so we wanted to try a litter free of scents and perfumes. After researching we decided to try out Frisco. 1) Clumping: Does an excellent job.

Urine quickly forms into hard pucks, easy for scooping, and the stool gets sufficient coverage as well. 5 stars. 2) Smell: Despite being unscented, this litter is nothing short of excellent at absorbing smell.

Even when I get close to the box after a cat has just left it, I can’t smell anything. 5 stars. 3) Dust: Compared to the other brand, which claimed to be 99. 9% dust free, it is night and day. The Frisco litter is ACTUALLY 99% dust free, compared to the plumes of dust that would smash into my face and lungs with even a gentle pour or scoop of the other brand.

Very happy with this. 5 stars. 4) Tracking: I’d say this is the only place where Frisco didn’t blow me away. It’s certainly not worse than the other brand, but I do still notice about the same amount of litter outside the box and litter mat.

Once I noticed a cat had some litter stuck to his fur, but this hasn’t been a regular concern. I’d say it’s about equal to the other brand, 3 stars. Overall, 4. 5/5 stars.

I had an autoship of this litter for probably a year and a half for my three cats. In the last few months, they have clearly changed their formula. Today I finally had enough and canceled the autoship.

The litter is very dusty which is not new. What is new is that it now turns urine into a slushy, mucky mess that sticks to the bottom of the litter box and is impossible to clean without scraping it off (which is actually really hard to do) resulting in a ton of little clumps of broken up urine mixing into the rest of the litter, and a thick pee-clay mixture residue on the bottom of the box.

If you’re keen on keeping the litter box clean, you’ll understand that the result of this means you have to toss all the litter out instead of being able to stretch your litter out to save money. I tried adding more litter, less litter to see if there was a difference in how it worked, but no luck.

Don’t waste your money or your time. I would not recommend this litter at all.

This really is the world’s Best cat litter! I’ve tried so many different types to replace the dirty, dusty, tacking clay litter I started with when I got my first cat. I’ve tried various paper pellets, wood pellets, silica beads and others including this one.

There are pros and cons to them all but I really liked the crystal beads but I developed asthma from the silica dust. So next best type for me was this World’s Best crushed corn husk litter. It clumps so it’s easy to clean.

There is one for multi-cats which I’m assuming clumps even better. It’s natural and theres even a lavender scented one but I discovered my cat hates anything lavender so it’s the plain one for us lol.

The clumps are flushable, provided you make sure to let the granules soak a few minutes and expand fully before flushing away. It’s not dusty and doesn’t track like the clay or sand litters. It doesn’t absorb odors like some of the pellet products.

You only need a few inches in your litter box so even though it costs a bit more, it last a lot longer. provided you scoop your litter regularly to keep the litter as clean as possible. And since it doesn’t stick to my cat’s paws, she doesn’t lick and ingest it like the clay litters.

And if she does ingest a little, it’s ok since it’s corn, not clay or silica. This was originally recommended to me by someone at a rescue organization and now I recommend this brand to everyone I know.

I was at a friend’s house and she had an extra bag of Pretty Litter and I needed to buy a bag(I typically use clay litter. ) My friend was going on about your product and how it was the ultimate cat litter; I thought she was exaggerating! I used Pretty Litter and was astonished that it did everything it promised.

No longer did my bathroom smell from cat urine and feces, no longer was it a up hill battle to clean the box with out having clay litter soaked in urine all over the place. I tried this, in very beginning thought might have stumbled on something great. Little did I know the storm was brewing and about to cause horrible damage. Because this was so bad at controlling odor, my cat (who never did anything like this before at all) started brazenly peeing on our clothes, pee on the bed right in front of us.

Trying to make a point. Eventually we figured out after some reading about the behavior that it likely had to do with litter box issues. Though we couldn’t smell anything, apparently she could. Mind you we scoop her box more than once a day as well.

We switched back to the old litter brand, and the behavior stopped. It does not work! Do not use it! If giving zero stars was an option, it would be zero stars. I actually felt bad because at first it did seem like was game changer, so I recommended to someone else.

They said it was horrible for them as well. They actually had issues with odor control all around. They had more than one cat, used proper type, but said the odor was so bad after short time couldn’t take it.

I felt so bad for recommending it prematurely! If you’re looking for a new brand, skip this one. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. With everything this promises, it’s too good to be true.

I tried this litter after a friend recommended it; I had been using Precious Cat litter for ten years and was getting very frustrated at how dusty and inefficient at odor control it had become. I have an asthmatic cat, and the little clouds of dust I would get while dumping litter in the box or scooping were bad news for him! I have to say I was really surprised that Free and Clean worked so well, because in my mind grocery store litter is associated with that awful ammonia smell, the old lady with too many cats smell.

It was actually quite the opposite: It is extremely low dust, nothing while pouring it in, nothing while scooping. The only time I start seeing dust is several weeks in, when it’s time to empty the box completely and wash it.

I have two large litter boxes and several cats in a two bedroom apartment and there is now ZERO smell from the boxes, even right after the cats go number 2. You would never guess cats lived here. Until you see the litter all over the floor, that is.

Yes, that’s the trade-off: the litter is super low dust, scoops very easily (no more chiseling off concrete blocks of pee stuck to the box, yay), has superb odor control BUT it tracks EVERYWHERE. And when I say everywhere, I mean all over every piece of furniture, all over the floor two rooms over, all over your bed, etc.

It also sticks very easily to fluffy longhaired cat butts. For me, the lack of smell and the absence of dust more than compensate for the constant sweeping I have to do, but if that drives you nuts that may not be the right product for you.

It’s also pretty pricey, and the packaging is so much plastic, I am not fond of it. But in the end until I find better, I am sold on this one!.

I tried this litter before I had covered litter boxes and didn’t love it because of its light weight it tracked all over the floor, however since I have switched to covered boxes it doesn’t seem to be an issue.

I will say that the clumping with this litter is much better and does not fall apart when trying to scoop it like the heavy litter. The light weight makes all of the scooping seem easier because there is less resistance and the “crumbs” that fall back in from the clumps that you seem to keep re-scooping with traditional litter are non existent with light weight, making it an overall quicker, more pleasant experience that has led to less procrastination and dread.

I’ve actually been more consistent with keeping up with scooping which is definitely a win. It does cost more but in my opinion worth it and it does lower the price if you buy the large container, something I never did before because the weight made it unmanageable, but not an issue with the light weight.

I definitely recommend that you use it with a covered litter box to reduce the spread from kicking and scratching. It does fling further than regular litter. I have found that covered litter boxes are not as aggravating if you remove the whole top and scoop.

I also think this brand/type has less dust than all the litters I’ve tried and I’ve tried a lot.

My old cat has been peeing and pooping outside the box. After ensuring it wasn’t a medical issue, I tried a few different substrates. none that made her paws comfortable until now. She seems satisfied with this new texture and has had more elimination visits to the box than not.

What do I hate about this litter? 1. The scent. This added scent is to appease humans, not cats. It’s way too much for me, and I’m sure the cat/s, who are considerably more sensitive to smell, don’t find it a joy either.

Unscented is the way to go. 2. I hate the advertisement that it prevents odors for up to 7 days. What that tells the average lazy customer is they don’t need to scoop often (bc THEY won’t be assaulted by the odors), when in fact scooping should be done at least twice daily.

No one wants to use a dirty toilet, never mind stand in one/pick one’s way around feces and urine clumps to find a place to toilet. 3. It’s heavy. Those little granules weigh a ton. scooping it feels like one’s moving mounds of heavy dirt (even for my husband) 4.

Opening the box is soooo hard. I can’t imagine how difficult it is for folks with decreased hand strength. A different opening/pouring design would go a long way (e. g. : the kind that is found on some infant cereal boxes.

Remove a sticker-cover and pull out a spout). The bottom line is I bought this to try a new texture, and that seems to work for my old girl. However, my next purchase will be playground sand (face palm for not thinking of that first), which should feel good on her paws without the unnatural/overpowering scent (and other annoyances).

This product is very heavily scented. The clumping aspect works really well, i could give four stars for performance but the smell is very overpowering. It smells like a can of bathroom spray exploded in my living room, still headache-strong after a week.

Cats are even more sensitive to smell, i cant imagine what it’s like for them to have to be that close to such a strong odor when using the litter box. We usually use worlds best, lavender scent, the cats and i and like it very much.

But eventually that litter starts to smell sour, so i thought i would try something different. I have used, and liked, the unscented version of the arm & hammer lightweight clumping when my shelter gave me some for my fosters.

I was disappointed to not find it available from chewy but saw this lightly scented version and thought i would try it for my own cats. The packaging disguises the smell so well that i ordered two more bags thinking i will use it for my fosters, too – when i opened the first bag the perfume smell was overwhelming.

I will use it up but wont be buying it again. A note about the packaging, i found the bag to be convenient but next bag i open i will just cut the corner & pour. The bag has dotted line across the top suggesting to cut the whole top off which then it becomes hard to control the bag when u pick it up to pour.

I used Purina Tidy Cat 24/7 for seven years, it was always a great product. until recently! Instead of clumping? It left countless crumbles vs 1-2 clumps, huge amounts of dust and my cat tracked it literally all over the house.

The room with the litter box was constantly covered in thick dust and needed to be wiped down continually. I found myself buying it more and more often, which at almost $18 for 35lb tub a pop was getting ridiculous for one cat.

Finally, I read lots of bad reviews about the formula changing and identical problems cat owners were having. Fast forward. after I determined there was nothing wrong with my cat (which I was worried, why all the sudden was cleaning the box such a mess and hassle?), I found this Arm & Hammer product.

At first I mixed it with the remaining Tidy Cat I had to get him used to it for a short while, Now it only takes 5 minutes vs. the 15 or more with the TC brand!! It was beyond aggravating and time consuming.

There is a minor fragrance, but it’s not very noticeable (and I have a nose like a bloodhound, so this is saying something), cat doesn’t seem to mind it. I clean his box 1-2x a day, so odor has never been an issue for us.

I am so relieved to find this brand! Clean up is not a nasty, muddy mess with countless tiny icky pieces to deal with, meaning the entire box stays cleaner longer and I spend a lot less money on litter.

The scent is extremely overpowering. This is from a person who loves scented cat litter, but this one is too much. You can smell it three rooms away. BE AWARE: Special Kitty is listed by the ounce (3-5 cents/oz.

) price but other brands by the pound (48 cents, like the C. P. brand) but when you multiply 16 oz. in a pound, the difference is about 5 cents/lb. $. 03 x 16 oz. = $0. 48/lb. and $. 05 x 16 oz. = $0.

80/lb. Comparatively, WalMart’s brand may be more expensive per pound, and that’s after they undercut the price when they bought it wholesale from the company labeling it the Special Kitty brand. WM’s website is full of inconsistencies and transparently misleading details like this.

Which is a shame because WM is already one of the richest corporations in the world, but they nickel and dime their customers to skim off even more cash. BTW, there was an “error” when I tried to submit this review, and I expect this review will be removed to hide the above facts.

This litter claims to be 99% dust free but it’s nothing but dust. We’ve used this litter for years and the last few boxes have been so dusty you can taste it in the air after pouring any or after the cat uses the box.

You can literally see the dust cloud when you pour some in the box. I bought Dr. Elsey’s brand to try out something new and when I poured it there was ZERO dust. I can’t believe the difference. My cat was just diagnosed with asthma and I feel like part of the issue is this terrible litter.

I don’t understand how it can make the claim “99% dust free” when it’s a complete lie. It also tracks EVERYWHERE. Loyal customer for years but the quality has went so downhill I won’t ever buy Special Kitty litter again.

It’s a value, but at what price? Certainly not my cat’s health.

This litter is the worst I have ever used. Not because it doesn’t clump or any of that. I rescue stray cats and get them ready for homes been doing so for 40yrs. The smell of this litter is horrendous.

People have asked me over the yrs how I have no cat box smell in my house. I have tried to work with this litter in every way nothing stops to horrible smell. I can’t afford to go back to what I was using at this point I will find a way.

There is nothing worse to me than smelly bad cat box. I have emptied the cat box scrubbed it done it all. In no more than a few hours I smell it all the way upstairs. This cat litter is not worth it AT ALL! Believe me I wanted it to work but I have spent a great deal more on spray’s, powders, etc to stop the smell.

I have bought this 3 times now I have given it a good test I will never buy it again.

I recently bought this after looking at many reviews in search of a more inexpensive litter that offers larger sizes after I recently adopted another cat – making that two cats total in my small apartment.

My favorite thing is the low tracking – I mean it’s incredible how low it tracks after my cats get off the mat outside their litter box. It’s clumps pretty well – there is always one or two clumps that slightly stick but they come off incredibly easy with barely any effort at all, so another great perk.

The biggest issues I have is the odor control. When one of my cats use their litter box – the scent of their scat is intense and rife through the apartment. They both bury their feces as deep as they can right away so it’s not like it’s just sitting there.

But after burying – it reeks so bad it’s like the litter intensified the smell and it LASTS – the litter almost acts as one of those wall plugs – making sure the scent lasts longer and really gives a large scent throw like an incredibly good quality candle but a candle that smells somehow worse than usual cat fecal matter.

It’s horrible. After an hour or two the scent finally stops and for the first three days when the scent is no longer intensified it’s pretty decent. But by the fourth day, after freshly scooping the litter – there is a certain scent to it that lingers.

The litter box smells awful constantly and the scent sneaks it’s way into corners of my apartment, leading me to change the entire litter box more often than I’ve ever had to with any other brand. Scooping simply does not suffice for long at all, leaving me to ordering more litter more often.

I don’t know how to describe this odor. It’s just awful. And is everywhere, even after changing the litter it lingers for a day. It’s horrific. So now I’m in search of a new unscented litter for my two cats.

So this is the first litter I have used as I have just recently adopted a cat. I purchased this brand after reading several reviews and suggestions, the general consensus seemed to be that clay litter was the best overall so I decided to give that a try seeing as it’s the “standard” for cat litter.

Dr. Elsey’s seemed to be a highly recommended brand and based on the “99. 9% dust free claim” I purchased without much hesitation. Overall this is a good litter as far as clumping/tracking is concerned.

I wanted a litter that was unscented and I understand that animal waste is not going to smell like roses, generally there is no lingering smell unless the litter box has been used within the last 10-15 minutes and I have mine in the mud room so I am not in range of the smell anyway.

If you want something that is going to trap the smell immediately I don’t think this will work well for you. However, I am disappointed in the amount of dust this litter creates. It kicks up quite a bit when I clean it and I imagine it does when my cat uses it as well.

My cat’s foster was using corn litter and since we adopted him (and he started using the clay litter) he seems to be sneezing a lot. His health is very important to me so I am obviously concerned. I’m not sure if there is a direct correlation but I think I will be switching to a different type of litter and seeing if the situation improves.

I would give it 3. 5 stars.

The only downfall of this product is the packaging. The 40lb bag of litter comes in a plastic bag that can’t be re-sealed and is hard to pour litter in to the litter box especially at first use because it is a heavy bag but could also would be nice if the included a scoop in bag to scoop and pour the fresh litter into my litter boxes.

Few thoughts on ways to improve packaging of the product: 1. Update product packaging from a heavy duty plastic to a pale that has a handle for easy lifting and carrying. Also, with a lid that is easy to open and can be closed and sealed to keep litter fresh.

If a scoop was included to pour new litter into boxes that would be a great addition. 2. Another type of bag to make carrying the heavy bag to the rooms where litter boxes are, maybe a bag with handle somewhere on it? Update the bag so opening and resealing to retain freshness would really improve the quality of the litter packaging.

Again, including a scoop in the bag (or pale) to pour fresh litter into the litter boxes would be nice to have. However, I do love this litter, it is by far the best clumping litter I have ever used and makes scooping my litter boxes way easier than other brands of clumping litter I have tried.

BUT. a few simple changes to the packaging and this product would be 5 stars! Hopefully, I will see some changes with my next purchase of this product. :).

I received this as gift from my mom and that is the only reason I kept it. It’s not worth the money and is extremely messy and hard to fill with litter. I do not use the brand of litter that goes with the robot; I’ve continued to use the brand I’ve always used because I wanted a smooth transition for my cats which did not happen no matter which techniques I tried to get them all acclimated to the new box.

I guess because my litter comes in a box and not a bag that’s the problem with filing up the interior compartment. The litter piles up in a mound when it dumps in to the tray below and if you’re not careful when you pull the tray out to remove the liner, you’ll have litter falling all over the place making a huge mess.

I have four cats and only one that I know of uses it; the others continue to use the traditional litter box. I ended up moving the robot totally out of the room it was in because even with it in there, the other cats would ignore the normal litter box and mess on the floor.

I’ve tried numerous times to get the app set up and keep getting an error message when I scan the barcode that the serial number is invalid. Even before I pulled the traditional litter box back out, this robot did not really keep the odor down either.

I am extremely frustrated with this product and am more than likely going to put it out for the trash before long. I’d recommend to anyone who is considering buying it to save your money and keep using a traditional litter box because you are not gaining anything other than not having to physically sift the litter.

Buy yourself a good old fashioned plastic litter box that has a sifting tray between two pans and has a hood for privacy for your cats and to help eliminate odors.

I love the litter robot. But it’s not without a flaws. I seem to have to reset it More often than I thought I would for an almost $800 purchase. I bought one for my mother-in-law and I’m not sure if she would continually turn the machine off and On to get it to work.

But this is a review about the litter. The litter robot litter works good but others work better. But none were excellent. Litters seem to stick to the bottom and or the side. No matter white cat litter I use.

I’m experimenting with some different sprays to keep the litter from sticking to the side in the bottom. Most litters say we need at least 2 inches of depth beforenthe litter can work probably but my cats seem to Pee on the side of the bowl and not the center.

I use your brush at least once a day to get the sticky waist off the sides. If there was a spray or a product that can Be used, let me know I will buy it. right now arm and hammer slide seems to be the best litter for the Litter robot for me but it’s not perfect.

It’s a huge help for sure. * Litter scooping – reduced to zero * Odors – 90% gone Issues: * Robot paused midstream during clean cycle once. Had to power cycle. * Robot did not perform clean cycle once even though poop and pee clumps were in there (no other light indicators indicated timing underway) * 7min default is not a good setting.

12 min should be default. Wet poop sticks to inner ceiling of sphere or the back many times during clean cycle. * App install and connectivity is not plug n play – way too many steps including control of camera etc.

I would have designed it with simple plug n play. Bottom line: I’m concerned I do need to supervise / manage robot and so it’s not worryfree during vacations.

I have bought Purina Lightweight Litter for almost a year now and find it the only one that isn’t dusty and it’s very easy to handle. I always buy the Purina Unscented Lightweight, which is a great product.

My store was out of that so I got this 4 in1instead. There is next to no dust. It’s easy to use being lightweight, but the scent is overpowering and way too strong, maybe it got an extra infusion of scent during production, don’t know?? I only used a small amount to top up the existing cat litter box and the whole room was heavily scented.

One of my 3 cats refused to use it and left a deposit just beside the box. I’ve had cats for over 30 years and never have had that problem. I highly recommend the unscented, which is amazing at odour control with the charcoal formula, when cleaned regularly as it should be.

If your cats don’t like highly scented products, or you don’t, I would give this scented product a miss …. your cat/s will thank you. I had to go out this morning and get more Purina Light Weight Unscented to refill the whole litter box.

Will never buy the scented version of this product again, expensive lesson learned.

I have used Tidy Cat (20 lbs) clumping litter for almost 10 years. As others have said in their reviews, the quality of your product has changed over time. While it still does clump for urine, the clumps are very fragile and break apart easily creating a mess.

The odor levels are now as bad as when I used your non-clumping variety from a previous cat 10+ years ago. I now have air freshener in the closet where his litter is in order to control the smell(s).

Worst yet is the dust issue. Dust from the litter goes all over the room where the closet is. I never knew that dust from a small container could travel that far. Finally, you say in your answers to people on here: ” Please know that the situation you described is not typical of our litter products, and certainly not something we would expect.

” You use the same response (+ or – a couple of words) to everyone who has a complaint in their review. You could at least be original in your response and not say the same tired old response over and over.

Just like your product, your responses have become tired and show lack of real concern.

I’ve been using Everclean extra strength since the 1990s; it was the first litter I tried with my first cat, and it worked so perfectly that I didn’t need to try any others. This Everclean multi-cat is my first time trying a different variety, and I LOVE it.

It clumps much better, controls odor 100% even when the box is dirty, does not track throughout the house, and has nearly ZERO dust. I’m surprised and confused by the reviews claiming that it’s dusty; mine has literally no dust.

I’m able to buy the regular Everclean extra strength locally, but I like the multi-cat so much that I will continue to place online orders to get it.

We usually purchase a different litter by this same brand from Chewy. and we decided to try this one out thinking because it’s for multiple cat that it would be better. WRONG. it’s literally garbage.

the other litter can hold on longer than a day. this one we have to clean twice a day while the other one we could get away with twice a week if not longer. if you have multiple cats i would recommend getting the blue and green box.

“extra strength” and boy does that one live up to the name. not this multiple cat garbage. i wish i could go back and not buy it. now we’re stuck with 3 boxes and the cats hate it. never again are we buying this one.

I used this litter for the first round of my litter robot, and it works great. I’ve used ever clean many times and have found it a bit dusty, but it clumps hard and works well, especially now that I don’t have to scoop.

Still tracks a bit more than I’d like, but is only an issue because one cat dips his paws in the water bowl and I don’t want them all drinking clay (duh). Normally I use a natural, biodegradable litter but was concerned it might not work in the robot but I’m trying that next.

The plus is the cats do smell pretty good coming out of the box because this is scented, though I doubt it’s good for them at all.

Some people do not realize that the brand of litter is important but a good-quality, high-performance litter really does make a difference. I have used many different brands and types of litter so I was very, very happy to find the Arm and Hammer Multicat.

The hint of negative about this product is the heavy weight of it but I suppose it needs to be substantial to work so well. This product will cause debris to clump firmly, allowing me to easily scoop up and toss without residue.

The remainder of the litter stays so astoundingly clean and fresh that I can continue to use it for a very long time without changing out the whole pan. Yes, this is a big deal because my cats just give up on covering up if the litter will not stay fresh.

Some other litters maintain strong odors and leave stinky particles behind so my cats will just leave the box immediately and shake their paws as if they are saying ‘there’s no way I’m touch that dirty stuff.

‘ The rooms where we keep litter boxes stay fresh-smellin. We don’t need to sift and shake like Atlas if we use a good quality scoop of substantial weight. Those thin dollar-store scoops will just wear out my wrist, elbow, and shoulder.

So anyone who has trouble cleaning out a litter pan with this litter may want to upgrade the scoop. I confidently recommend this litter to both single and multicat households. I will not use any other type or brand as I could not be happier with the value and performance.

I bought six forty-pound boxes of Arm and Hammer Super Scoop, which proved to be a huge and expensive mistake. I feel horrible for forcing my kitties to put even a single paw into this smelly, dusty litter.

Each time I change the litter, I thoroughly wash the boxes with a mild dish soap and super hot water (you probably already know that this disinfects, without harmful chemicals and odors that irritate a cats sensitive nose).

So, I was unpleasantly surprised when I awoke to a litter-room that wreaked–and their litter room never smells. This litter had a strange pungent odor that permeated the large room. I immediately went back to the litter I’ve used for the last fifteen years–even though its become, like everything else in this pathetic economic climate, ridiculously expensive.

There is a lot to said for staying with what you know and trust. Arm and Hammer litter cannot be healthy for feline or human respiratory systems. For the love of your feline friends, I recommend avoiding this litter.

I actually bought this by mistake the first time I got it. But I was so impressed by it I’ve repurchased several times. I’m a big fan of Cat Whisperer Jackson Galaxy’s advice, so I’ve historically avoided heavily scented litter.

This litter is scented, but its performance is excellent. It clumps marvelously and is very low dust. The scent isn’t overpowering at all to my human nose, but just to be kind to my kitties, I usually mix 3 parts cheap fragrance free cheap litter to 1 part arm & hammer.

It’s enough to keep the benefits of clumping low dust. And it does smell nice! But mixing it like that lessens the fragrance for my cats’ sake. (Cat noses are more sensitive to smells than people noses.

) They have never had any issues with using their litter boxes, so they must be okay with it at least. I can’t quite speak to how it tracks, but this litter seems to track less than tidy cats. But then again, we have one of those fancy litter catching mats… Either way, great litter.

Excellent value. 40 lbs for less than $16? Most generics are $6-8 for 20 lbs so it’s a very good deal!.

It’s like natural sand, it does clump up the poo very well as far as wee goes the wee has to be completely covered by your cat and it clamps up well. Of course, their poos are going to smell always leave the window or open for air to circulate.

My three cats love it because its dust free and no smells once covered completely, I tried lavender but they didn’t like it. But you need to keep filling up with new clean litter as don’t overuse the old the litter.

Chose product as weight same as one was using but came in a lot cheaper. When arrived bag half the size of the other one but very heavy. Maybe I use a lot but litter tray was heavy to lift. When used by my cat the litter had to be scraped out of the tray and this became even harder if used litter had been left overnight.

My used litter scoop took ages to clean as the wet product refused to come out of the holes even when using hot water and paper towels. Awful. Makes an unpleasant task more lengthy and nasty. Both me and my cat hated it and I took most of it to the tip.

This is a very good product and 30L lasts a long time. The price is excellent. If, like me, you change cat litter regularly it is perfect. It is also the best one I have found so far. I do still use freshener which I advise for an indoor cat litter tray of course – for them and us!.

Myself and my daughter use this cat litter and find it extremely good quality and a very good price for 30 litres. Will definitely buy again.
