20 Best Handlebars For Road Bike (2023 Updated)

Swapped a pair of Nukeproof Carbon Horizon bars (V1) for the OneUps. Trimmed down to 780mm width. Noticed immediately stiffer front end handling and fewer trunk-clipping instances (likely due to trimming down as I was running 800mm prior).

Vibration dampening feels about the same as the Nukeproofs I had set up prior…considering these are the thicker 35 clamping area, I’m glad the bars are similar and not worse. I was hopeful the oblonged shape would be more noticeable with caliche chatter feels, but couldn’t tell that much nuance.

The bars look great with stealthy graphics and the carbon layup isn’t as noticeable as on other carbon bars I’ve had or have seen, so aesthetically, the bars look top notch. I’m still dialing my fitment in as these are a little less rise than the 38mm rise I had.

I still get slight numbness in hand which ai had dialed out on the other bars, so this is likely just a matter of some more adjustment to get position perfect.

I bought the bar-stem-grip combo because I was experiencing finger numbness on longer, technical and rooty rides. I actually would get to the point where I couldn’t feel my breaks of shifters and it was becoming dangerous.

A buddy turned me on to OneUp because the uniquely shaped carbon bars helped him with similar issues. The combo pricing made it a no brainer, so I pulled the trigger. I’ve been on the trails about a half-dozen times since installing them and I haven’t had any numbness so far.

It’s amazing how much damping they provide. You don’t realize how much harsh vibration travels through your aluminum bars until you experience the “quiet” of the OneUp carbon bar. I think the grips have a great design and feel, too, but the color I wanted was out of stock and I’m not a fan of the color I ended up with.

I may eventually purchase the color I’d hoped for. In a nut shell: excellent product that lives up to the claims and I’m proud to support the good folks at OneUp.

Great bars that increased my comfort and performance while riding. I purchased these to replace the low end raceface bars that came on my SC 5010 stock build as I was having issues with arm pump and hand fatigue.

After a lot of research I settled on these, and boy am I glad I did! Not only have they eliminated my arm pump /hand fatigue issues, but they also increased the performance I’m getting out of my mtb.

I am a smaller rider at around 110lbs so they are probably a little stiffer for me than others, but they are just where I want them to be- balanced between compliant and stiff. I can really throw the front end around and still be stable-they are responsive without being twitchy.

The 20mm rise has been great for striking a combination of climbing prowess and confidence on steep descents. They’ve held up well so far over the six months I’ve owned them. For the price there isn’t a better bar-they certainly live up to the hype.

I highly recommend.

Light, good range of sizes (widths) and they provide a comfortable amount of flex with a very ergonomic flare angle which sits well with the natural position of your hands but there are a few negatives worthy of note.

They come in rather poor packaging, no protection offered by Easton at all, so you are reliant on the retailer for protection in transit – not ideal for carbon bars so check when you receive them that they are safe to use.

The plastic bag offered by Easton is quite poor at this price point. The other negative though, is that there is only one hole on the right hand side of the bars for the internal routing of the Di2 cable, no hole on the left.

Running Di2 internally is fine if you have a dumb lever (shifter) but if you want to use both shifters, left and right, how do you get the Di2 cable across to the left shifter? Easton suggested you run externally from right to left, really?!! crazy oversight in the assumption only the one shifter is used because its a gravel bar for a gravel bike.

Other than this, good set of bars with a school boy error leaving many would-be-purchasers of the bars scratching their heads – “do I drill the bars?”.

I have just received my new EA70 AX 16D handlebar and the first feeling is rather a disappointment. The product features and the specification claims a Di2 compatibility and bar end junction compatibility in the right side, but there are no prepared hole at all.

Not on any of the sides. So I either have to return it to the retailer or have to make the holes by myself. The form and width looks to be perfect for me, but I still want to use my Di2 groupset, thus I need the compatibility.

Great quality, good geometry and nice fit and finish. I don’t any racing on my gravel bike. Just like to explore old roads and push myself on distance. The only reason I wouldn’t give these a 5/5 is because they aren’t really the most versatile bars.

The tops are super comfortable, the reach is nice and short, and the back of the drops are really nice as well as the bio-bend, but if you do any long, rough descending on your gravel rides, far up in the hoods in the braking position is really tight and uncomfortable.

For me, they are about right since I have very short bursts of death-grip gravel descents on my rides, but if I could change these to have a little deeper drop and a more rounded braking position I would.

If your jam is just cruising all day long, these are super comfortable!.

I am replacing the stock handlebar on my S-Works Roubaix 2018 with the Streem not because of its aero shape but because of the large surface on the tops and bends. I have had trouble with numbness. These provide a very comfortable platform while on the tops.

I was surprised and pleased that even while riding on the hoods there is more surface area that is definitely more comfortable. I am a masters rider and tend to do long rides with a lot of climbing and downhill braking.

I have the brake hoods set up so that I sit up a bit more the same as I did on my other bars yet the drops are also much more comfortable and are shaped well for me. While I have only done some shorter rides on the new bars, I am looking forward to getting in some long rides when I get some better weather days.

I have been suffering with neck pain when in the drops and descending for some time. A friend put the 44 Beacon on his gravel bike and told me about it. I did some online reviews took some measurements and ordered this.

I took off an Easton carbon gravel bar and honestly the weight is not noticeable. I have broad shoulders and this works really well for me. I was concerned about the width but it is fine and gives me a ton of grip surface.

I really like the angle it set the brake/shift levers and the hoods position is super comfy. The only negative is I had to install longer brake hoses and rear shift cables. This is on my Moots Routt 45.

Perfect for my gravel rig: – Wide drops make handling easier on descents. – Hoods are positioned similar to my road bike. – Comfortable on climbs and responsive on the flats. I bought these because most flared gravel bars make the brake levers awkward to reach for my smaller sized hands.

These bars have not made that an issue at all.

Second pair I’ve purchased. Nice pair of handlebars that are comfortable and light enough. Biggest diffrrence in these and a $300 pair of bars is $280 and the right to boast about the investment lending to the need for road bike specific cliches.

Purchased to replace the stock 42cm bars on a Nashbar Cross Bike. Nice finish on the uncovered portion by the stem. A solid bar for the price.

Stiff, light, superior craftsmanship. I only ride Thomson gear so this review may come across as biased. These handlebars have a feel them unlike many of the alloy road bars I have used (looking at you EA70s).

Excellent finish, stem markings for adjustment, and provide super feedback even on rough roads.

I have owned several carbon bars over the years. (FSA, Easton). This bar is at least as well made – to my non-expert eye. It is comfortable up top and the underside has a deep enough well to fully “hide” your cables without the loss of integrity that comes with internal routing.

Coupled with a Thomson X2 stem I expect years of worry free riding.

These bars, with the combination of a tall & short Nitto stem, have enhanced my road bike experience to the point where it’s all I want to ride. There is almost no ramp, so the hoods aren’t a reach, and are super comfy.

The tops are fine for a short break, and into the wind the drops are fully natural. Plus they’re cheap. I can’t imagine a better drop bar in existence for the average road bike guy/gal.

I got an early 80s all-chrome Olympia bike for my first Eroica CA ride this April. Beautiful bike, w 3TTT stem and handlebars. But although the seller said the bars were 42cm, they were actually 38 and I just couldn’t feel ‘expanded.

‘ Then someone on another forum suggested I get a pair of the HWY1 bars. Easy to mount on that classic stem, beautiful polished finish in the middle with great aligning graphics. And the shot-peened finish really ‘grabs’ the adhesive on my bar tape.

And Jenson USA shipped it to me in 24 hrs even though I paid the standard rate (it helps that I’m also in SoCal).

I installed the GR bars on my 2020 Domane SL for #stbgrvl. I’ve been riding the IsoZone road bars for a couple of years and find them to be very comfortable. IsoZone and the added flare of the GR bars seemed like a great combination.

It is. The GR bars mane my ride at STBGRVL a lot more enjoyable. No numb palms and no sore wrists. Riding in the drops while bombing the descent from Steamboat Lake was solid. I recommend the GR to anyone looking for more comfort and control on gravel or pavement.

I have a problem with my hands and fingers going numb on long rides. These bars have solved that issue due to the wide, flat area on top. That being said, I don’t ride on the drops much at all. Mostly on the top of the bar and the brake hoods.

I guess they are a little heavy but I don’t care. Makes sense since there is more material because of the width.

Used this to replace an aluminum drop bar on my cyclocross bike. The bike has a very stiff fork and front end that jarred me on rough roads and bumpy sections on cyclocross courses. Whatever this bar is doing in those sections seems to take the much of the sting out of the impacts.

It also seems nicer to hold on washboard sections on the gravel roads I ride. Overall I’m happy with the increase in comfort this bar provides.

Bought this for my Chamois Hagar as I thought it would benefit from wider bars. They are beautifully made and easy to fit. Once clamped down they stay in place due to the additional texturing that creates more friction where it is needed.

They have a nice flare, which puts you in a more aero position on the hoods and gives you more control in the drops, for anyone who likes to ride at the more technical end of the gravel spectrum this is exactly what you need.

They dampen the trail chatter and you don’t even need to mess around with bar end plugs. Coupled with Enve bar tape they are very comfortable. They is no denying they are expensive, but for sure I would buy them again.

I bought these to build my gravel bike. I read so many reviews on gravel handlebars before I settled on these. Even though these are on the higher end of cost for a handlebar, I have not regretted the purchase.

The bars are perfect for me and worth the money.

These bars are a true work of art, I’ll never go back to standard bars whether they are carbon or not, I’m in love with these and I haven’t even put them on my new build yet! There is one MAJOR caveat though, the sizing applies to c to c at the bottom of the drops – standard measurement yes, but the flare results in the distance between hoods being substantially more narrow – like ALOT more narrow than what I expected.

(“40’s” are 35 at the hoods!) This is articulated on the ENVE site but not on BC. I had to send my 40’s back for 44’s – Never in my life have I ordered 44’s!! Just so you know. ;).

First, these handlebars are very good looking, with a beautiful satin finish and graceful curves. They look light and fast, and indeed they are very light weight. They are clearly really well made. I put them on an old road bike which has a 110 inch “7” stem.

This puts the grips about even with the steering tube, making for nice handling. They also have a bit of spring and are not quite as wide as traditional north road bars. The bars end up being just about level with my seat, making for a riding position that is comfortable but still has power.

These are fun and functional and make me want to ride my bike. Goodbye flat bars!.

A good shaped town bike handle bar. Because of the forward sweep the grips are not far back from the stem which may or not work for you. The big down side is the length for the grips is about 145mm which not enough for a shifter, brake levers and grips.

Shimano says it needs to be 166mm, I need to find a better solution.

Super happy with these aluminum bars! Much lighter and aesthetically pleasing than the alloy set I had on my bike. Nitto doesnt disappoint.

when i recived the product i was excited to give my 80’s univega a more modern look. these bars look good! dont get me wrong. i think the main downfall is that they seem to sorta flex/bend, as in they aren’t very studry.

also when i was putting them on, i have an old school stem (C shape and uses one bolt to close it around the bars like a fist. ) which means i had to slide the bars through that little hole, but since the bars have kinks I was sure it would not fit.

but i was able to grab a screwdriver and wedge it open more, but I did end up scratching the bars pretty badly. they are comfortable!!! love the hand kinks PROS: Cheap, Lightweight CONS: Flex Easily, Weak Construction, Scratches Easily BEST USES: Road Biking, Fixie.

Great that these are still stocked, as they help keep those glorious older bikes on the road. I needed a 25. 4mm clamp/44 cm width bar for my dear-old LeTour and this is the perfect solution. I’d rather it not have cable grooves (I kept the non-aero brake hoods and quill stem shifters for the cool “classic” look), but thats a minor compromise to finding a bar that fits older bikes.

Nice that they come in silver or black, too.

I replaced the 44cm bars that came with the bike with 40cm. What was good is that I got to keep it original, the bars made by Dimension gave us good service and now that our grandson is riding this bike (and needed narrower bars) I feel confident in the quality of the product and happy to find the same model.

PROS: Strong Construction, Lightweight.

The carbon bar works well. I replaced the original SL contact bar and the carbon bar has a comfortable shape and does a good job of dampening chatter on rough road sections. I do not notice very much flex in the bars at 200lbs.

I own a 2018 Giant TCR Advanced 2 which came with the aluminum Connect bars which are good. But upgrading to these carbon bars was amazing!! I love the comfort and stiffness!! GET THESE!! No cons!!

I got these because the stock carbon bars from my 130/120 mtn bike felt too flexible. I was skeptical about such stout bars on a mid travel, but I was trying to firm up my front end. Probably not as much dampening over fast chatter as my original bars.

More solid though. I cut them to 800.

Solid bar choice. First off the bar was packaged really well. It comes with an ENTIRE sheet of different colored logo stickers for your bars. That way you can color match so everything looks good on your setup.

The black color is flawless and the bar feels really good. Great attention to detail by Enve, who come thru with a solid bar.

What can I say, its enve. By far, the best looking carbon bar IMO. I’ve had many and these are my favorite. I cut them to 760 and the feeling is phenomenal. I also paired them with the enve stem. You get what you pay for.

BTW I’m a sucker for matching my bike colors. With the included decals you can match these bars to most bikes.
