20 Best Handheld Vacuum For Pet Hair On Furniture (2023 Updated)

I’ve used this vacuum for a couple of weeks, to pick up scattered litter and hair from two clean, well-groomed indoor cats. In other words, not much. This vacuum does the opposite of what it advertises – its design makes it virtually useless for pet areas.

It clogs instantly with even a small amount of hair – the hair wraps around the filter holder and gets stuck behind and at the sides of the filter. Litter gets stuck in the small holes of the plastic filter holder and is extremely difficult and time-consuming to remove.

The button to empty the chamber is on the bottom of the vacuum, making it annoying to open the chamber because you can’t actually see the button if you are holding the vacuum over a trash can, and you have to feel for it awkwardly.

This vacuum is a failure for its stated purpose, and it’s hard to imagine that it was even tested for use with pets. The quality of the build appears adequate, but the design is useless – and it’s expensive.

I’ll be returning it.

The IRIS Portable Vacuum cleaner is a great choice for a portable vacuum, but it heavily depends on what you’re looking for. For a dust-picker-upper, this device works absolute wonders. Being able to quickly uplift a place without plugging a single thing in is an absolute must have for me now.

I make rugs in my freetime, and one of the reasons I wanted this item was to swipe up and clean little chunks of yarn off the floor quickly while I’m working. It works in that sense, where it’s easy to clean those chunks up, but it fills up EXTREMELY fast.

Generally it’s not a problem for me, but it may be for others who don’t want to constantly go to the trash can to empty the portable vacuum. The only other problem I’ve been running into is the battery life.

In my unit, a charge only lasts about 15-20 minutes of constant use. Again, depending on your use for the vacuum, this may be what you’re looking for, but the battery life is extremely essential to me.

In all, the portable vacuum is an excellent choice depending on what you’re looking for out of it, but it just wasn’t the best choice for me.

I am a photographer and thought this vacuum would be perfect for taking on location with me and quickly cleaning up my backdrop area between kids as needed, and the area that I used before leaving. It is so light to pack up in my gear, it’s almost nothing.

I just charge it at home the night before and it has plenty of power and battery for my sessions. It picks up what I need it to pretty effortlessly and has a few useful attachments. We have also found that we actually love it at home for quick pet hair clean-up.

I have a long-haired dog that sheds terribly and I have to vacuum almost every day, my husband has started using this almost daily around his desk and it saves me from having to get the big vacuum out as often.

It’s so simple to sit on the charging dock and takes up very little space. The bin is very easy to empty. This is also excellent for touching up the car after little kids’ dirty shoes or lunch gets on the floor or in the seat.

This would have been fantastic to keep near the kid’s high chairs!.

This rechargeable hand held vacuum is fantastic. It has two power levels and 2 attachments though you don’t have to either one. I have been using it without the attachments because that way it has a wider opening for the debris.

It is plenty powerful on the lower setting. The noise isn’t too high pitched or too loud. It’s super easy to clean out and put back together. What’s really cool is on one of the attachments you have the choice of rotating the brush down and using it, so it doesn’t scratch.

This was great for dusting my floor baseboards. I didn’t have to bend over too far and with the brush it lifted the dirt off the crevice of the baseboards. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to charge it and lasts about 15 minutes.

Anytime I have crumbs on the kitchen floor I get this vacuum out of my pantry and quickly clean up the mess.

Curbside pickup experience was fast and smooth without any personal contact. Product is neat and efficient for instant needs from time to time, storage is convenient. Just clarifying for some people who complained that the battery only lasts for a few minutes on a full charge, there is actually an option switch for high power suction (30 min) and maximum suction (9 min).

Also, some complained that there was no battery usage indicator. There is actually lights on either side of the base of the handle showing flashing blue lights for no power, battery needs recharge. One drawback, the accessories cannot be used interchangeably with that for a different model.

The diameters of the tools are different. Only that within the V series fits the handheld.

Bought this to do small pickups after a sweep of the floor, and to clean the car. It’s proven handy when doing a bit of DIY around the house, where you can immediately pickup any small debris left from drilling etc.

For very quick jobs it’s good, but the “standard” power mode is a bit of a joke as it can barely pick up dust let-alone bigger objects like spilled cereal and a bit of dirt. Max power has some decent suction and, with the motorised tool, makes short work of cleaning rugs and carpets, but this only last for around 6 minutes, so again is only good for quick jobs.

Like other reviewers, I also had the intermittent power issue, but after following the support video step by step, it started working again – I had cleaned everything else before following the steps, but didn’t know about the easy to remove and clean filter.

Generally, I find it quite easy to clean and put back together, actually much easier than the dyson cylinder vac (where I have to pull the bin apart to get out the hair). I am a bit torn on this machine, I do like a dyson, and I end up using the handheld on average twice a day, but it could just be a bit better.

Given that it is a similar price to the cylinder vac, I was expecting a bit more. A killer feature would be the ability to run it while plugged in – I know this defeats the purpose of the “cordless” handheld, but running out of power when you only have a couple of minutes to go is quite infuriating.

Sometimes the “handheld” feature is more important than the “cordless” feature.

This is the best thing for removing cat fur I have ever used and I have owned multiple pet specific vacuums and have used every sort of “fur removal hack” possible to try and help my problem over the last few years.

I have a healthy cat that has a super thick, plush, and bright white short coat and no matter how much I brush her, her fur still ends up everywhere. I’ve owned cats my entire life, even long haired cats, but this cat is something else.

I love her dearly but her unreal amount of fur being everywhere was a regular annoyance and I spent so much time trying to clean it because it was embarrassing and made it seem like I didn’t even try when I was doing everything I could to deal with the issue.

You couldn’t even sit on my couch without leaving with some white cat fur stuck to you and I felt so bad, I had lint rollers in every room. This thing was pulling up fur I couldn’t even see out of my furniture and carpet.

I cannot stress enough how amazing of a purchase this was and how much I love this thing. I spent so much time in the last 3 years trying to do what this thing did in like 10 minutes. If you’re questioning this purchase don’t because it’s so worth it.

There are 3 types of pet hair cleaners. Lint rollers are expensive, and not effective at lifting tightly attached pet hair follicles. Rotating brushes (whether vacuum turbine powered or motor powered) are often effective but can be difficult to use on looser cloth coverings (slip covers, towels, loose upholstery) because they are bulky and often pull in the cloth and jam.

This nozzle with projecting rubber bumps dislodges hair when lightly run over the area vertically and horizontally, and it vacuums in the loosened hair. This is quick and more easily done than with a rotating brush.

It also sucks in the small particles of dirt that a cat brings in from the outside. I recommend own both a rotating brush and this ‘pet hair eraser’, but first buy the pet hair eraser. I mainly use the eraser every day.

Long cord is great. Power is great. Small size and weight are great. It is easy to clean– brush off the accumulating hair with your finger or a brush once a week.

If you are looking for a upright don’t settle for less than Bissell 2790, especially if you have pets and have to clean frequently. I made a terrible mistake in the past buying a cheap vacuum but at least I learned that I would never purchase another vacuum which does not have a rewinding cord and does not turn off brush rotation.

Bissell 2790 was a cheapest vacuum that had a brush disengaging mechanism which is very important for using hand attachments. I couldn’t dream about this vacuum having also a swivel steering but it proved to be a swivel-rewind vac! It’s even has a dedicated brush on/off switch in addition to the brush roll automatically shutting OFF when vacuum is locked in upright position.

But this is not all – you don’t need to bend to adjust brush position each time when moving from hard floor to carpet as it’s done autumatically. There are even 2 led lights to make vacuuming easier in dark areas.

The vacuum came very fast directly from Bissell which sells it through Walmart for less than on Amazon. Plastic seems of good quality. Assembly doesn’t require any tools. The vacuum is not light, more like of average or below average weight because it has a powerful motor to suck through a HEPA filter.

Despite of the weight it was so easy to navigate around because of the swivel steering. This is the best vacuum I ever had.

Works effectively to vacuum. I have been a loyal Dyson customer, thought I’d try Bissell. The suction is strong, comes with a lot of accessories/extensions made for hair, which dog owners will like for couches, benches etc.

Comes with a long cord and the tube is quite long too. The motion to the vacuum can go around table legs, right to left easily, not just a center motion. I’m used to a Dyson canister vacuum that came with an release extension you use for bare floors.

The Pet Pro is easier to vacuum floors, you can use the vacuum itself on the bare floor option. It is picking up all dirt and debris with no issues. Its sucking up a lot of hair from my rugs. It is able to go under my kitchen cabinets to the kick plate, it is getting under 5 inches.

A bonus, its getting under my recliners. I’m rarely using the release to use the extensions. The only complaint I have is I wish the metal rod was a lot longer, its going to hurt someones back bending down.

I do use the extension for my stairs, a longer rod would of been better. They may of manufactured it this way knowing you’d use the vacuum itself more. All in all, its an amazing vacuum. I’m rarely using the extension anyways.

I’m doing less physical activity just using the vacuum itself. I’m saving time and the house is vacuumed quickly. 4 out of 5 stars, just wish the rod was longer! Please sell a part to extend that rod.

It would be perfect.

This super portable rechargeable vacuum is my go to picker upper for 95% of all my cleaning jobs. Hell, I used it once to retrieve coins stuck deep within the sofa frame. It sucked’em right up then I opened up the catch chamber and plopped out a little over $2 in change.

Excels at precision vacuuming but we also use the long attachment to clean hallways and bathrooms. Great for baseboards and corners. Recharges crazy fast and seems to run forever. Pulls about 90% of the dust off of figurines, books, fan blades and unused surfaces so the when we have actually wipe them down there is little left for the cloth to pick up.

Gets into the tightest places. Easy to empty and easy to disassemble in order clean to clean it.

Great suction power! Pet hair tool is phenomenal because you don’t have to pull hair out of bristles. It’s even good at pulling hair out of the knit and fibers. No need to spend a fortune on lint rollers bristle-less tools or countless hours removing pet hair and lint.

My only nitpicks is having only 10-15 minutes to do what you got to do and how slightly awkward the unit can be despite it’s ultra-light weight. The hose length occasionionally makes it hard when a job requires 2 hands.

It’s not long enough to set it down while you stand or to hang it up while you work close to the ground. The hose is too short because its length conforms to its rounded “holster” atop the vac unit. Ideally a strap could free up your carrying hand to throw it over a shoulder or hang it wile you vac blinds or curtains.

It takes about an hour to charge but you only get a fraction of that time to use it. But it works really well while charged. The ability to switch from corded to cordless usage would make this vac a dream come true!.

I charged the Vac 4 hours out of the box per instructions. Attached floor pipe and wide floor broom and did the entire house, de-crumbed the kitchen counters, stove, table, dusted some furniture. Then went to the garage and vac’d front and back of my wife’s Toyota Avalon.

All this in ONE Charge and it was still running strong. I emptied the dust & dirt tank which was full. I’m extremely impressed with little jewel. Two-three years ago I bought the 18 volt Black & Decker Floor Vac with a beater bar and used it two the three times a week.

But it only has a short run time and takes 18+ hours to recharge. I’ve owned 5 and currently own 2 other vacuum cleaners that cost over $1000. 00 each when purchased from the door to door salesmen. I rarely use them except for a deep clean once a month due to weight, cords, & attachment removal & installation complexity.

My wife will only use the light battery upright when she has the time. Basically I do all the vacuuming. Therefore I really love this new light weight vacuum! Due to time constraints of the old 18 volt model I’m learn to move really fast before the battery ran out.

Now I can chill out a little as vacuum. Just one suggested improvement, maybe if Black & Decker could add some shoulder strap clips to vac so I could watch movies on my phone with one hand and vac with the other.

Even though the vac is light a neck/shoulder strap would free up one hand for dusting night stands with pictures and whatnots. I’m thinking about ordering replacement Lithium batteries to install and modify my old 18 volt floor vac.

Because these new 20 volt Lithium batteries are unbelievably strong and quicker to recharge. The old 18 volt Black & Decker floor vac has a beater bar which is better for carpet and scattered rugs. The vortex dust bin is see through which hopefully will catch the eye of my wife and alert her to empty the dust bin.

As with all vac’s if the dust bin or bag in packed full of dirt the suction will decrease. My wife and daughter in-laws can’t seem to understand this simple law of physical science. Instead they go buy another vacuum cleaner when the old vacuum cleaner fills up with dirt.

They just wonder why the vac quit sucking up dirt. Instead of changing the bag or emptying the dust bin they just toss the vac out by the curve with the garbage and buy a new one. Here’s a recent example of this fact.

This Christmas I flew to my sons and tried to vacuum with a $800. 00 demo slightly used vacuum I gave them a few years ago. They have three little crumb spreaders & a dog who eats sitting side ways at or under the table and in front of the living room TV.

One can only imagine the piles of cookie & pop corn crumbles strewn all over their 2 story house with dark brown hardwood floors. The dog with it’s short legs and long fur acted as a dust mop which only move dirt from room to room and hall ways.

Every 12 hours the floors where depressingly covered in fur balls, craft bits of paper, ripped dog chew toy stuffing and food crumbs. So I got their vacuum out of the laundry room and unrolled the cord and began to vacuum.

The poor machine was barely breathing because the bag was completely full. My daughter in-law later complained that the vacuum was “horrible and it didn’t suck at all. ” I told her it was “just a full bag issue.

” Then she said, “I recently change the bag, but had cleaned a lot prior to your arrival. ” I’ll just keep my thoughts to myself about how dirty the floors must have been to fill that large bag past the full mark on the large dust bag.

Really as a working mom with three small children, a dog, and a foraging husband, she’s doing her best to just survive house work. I guess what I’m trying to say is the clear dust bin on the Black & Decker Vac is helpful to those who are to busy to pay attention to the needs of their tools.

Hopefully they won’t ignore the swirling dirt inside their tool and a light will flash through their brain and they will empty it after every use. Really I needed to purchase another 20 volt Black & Decker Vacuum with the attachments and extension pipe.

Then send it to my daughter-in-law to make her life easier. Thanks Black & Decker for getting it right and building a Vacuum Cleaner that makes my life easier. Really your tool is a life saver. It was my Christmas present to myself.

I am so happy with the Shark handheld vacuum! I have been looking for a hand held vacuum or something similar to the old school dust buster from the past. I have 2 small sections of my house where my dog always sleeps and the area is always covered in fur.

I used to always bring out our vacuum for those 2 areas and it was always such a pain. Now I just plug it in and vacuum those small sections and it only takes a few minutes. The suction with the adapter is super strong and I use that for higher areas.

The carpet vacuum section needs to be pretty flat on the ground to get everything up. I love how strong the suction is because it makes the carpet look vacuumed, & not just clean. Highly recommend.

This has the great performance you expect from a Shark and by far the best handheld vacuum I’ve ever used! The long cord makes it so convenient when cleaning out your car! I appreciate the design, love it has the brush too, not just suction, it so helps with cleaning power & is designed to help with those pet hair pickup! It comes with the crevice tool as well as the brush attachment! The long tube makes for easy cleaning either up or down! It’s lightweight enough too so it’s easy to use overhead for corners & cobwebs! It’s a great little handheld vacuum with lots of power & uses and perfect for pets! When your done just dump out the removable dust cup!.

We put this in our home office to clean up small messes and touch up areas our larger vacuum misses. Since it is so light weight and portable we can carry to anywhere it is needed. It is very futuristic looking and light weight.

It has good suction and the two powers is nice depending on what you need it for. The brush attachment worked well for small areas on the floor. The crevice attachment got things out of the edges of the chair seats.

The canister and filter were kind of hard to to clean out. The static from the plastic meant everything just stuck to it, especially pet fur. The base is really sleek looking but not very stable. Unless you have it plugged in the vacuum seems like it could easily get bumped and then roll right off of the base.

Plugging it in makes it marginally less likely to fall over. We will continue to use it and see if letting the canister get closer to full makes it easier to empty. If being portable is the most important feature this vacuum is for you.

This cordless handheld device has a comfortable feel in your hand when using it. Lightweight enough to prevent much strain on your wrist and powerful enough to make quick work of small debris such as little food crumbs or glitter for example.

The best way I can describe the sound level is similar to a tiny jet engine. It sounds tougher but , my opinion only, fell short in terms of Charge time being 2-3 hours and only getting 15-20 minutes of run time.

Performance is ,meh, I would say that if you are looking for a powerhouse suction cordless vacuum you may want to pass on the IONVAC Lightweight and explore your options first. However, if you want to have an aesthetically pleasing quick picker upper with DRY spills ONLY, this little device just might be your friend.

As for me and my garage with heavier duty spills I must keep searching. Nice little eye candy tho. Don’t build up fantastic expectations for performance. Oh, on a final note here, the Manufacturer should have considered designing the base the unit sits in to be the Charging Dock.

I like this little vacuum and am impressed by the tiny attachments that come with it. The attachments make this IONVAC Cordless Vacuum versatile and the suction is so concentrated that it’s even stronger than without.

The three attachments that are included are a crevice nozzle, a soft hose, and a brush attachment that is perfect for quick pet hair cleanup. The nozzle is great for those hard-to-reach spaces in between car seats and windowsills.

The vacuum plugs into a USB power source to recharge the batteries, and it charges quickly and holds the charge for quite a bit of time. The lightweight vacuum sits vertically upright in a base for easy access to its plug, and it’s so compact that it takes up less room than half a blender would.

The vacuum cleaner is fairly good and does job as per the reviews we have seen before the purchase. The not so positive side of the product is that the charge gets depleted quite fast. The best part is that the product is really very light and handy.

+ Having the detachable hose is a good is really good, makes it easier to clean difficult to reach places and also saves you lifting the larger bulk if you are doing walls, window sills etc. – Noisier than I expected it to be.

– Emptying: What you see gathering in the see thru plastic bowl is the larger pieces (some hair etc) and not the real dust to worry. There is a smaller paper filter inside (see picture) that collects all the fine dust and is a pig to clean.

Can’t be good for you, especially if you have asthma or hay-fever or something similar.
