20 Best Hand Trucks For Stairs (2023 Updated)

I recently injured my shoulder and have been unable to carry my tote bags back and forth to work. I ordered the Trolley Dolly in purple, and could not be more pleased with it! Everything I need (and then some) fits in the generously sized bag, the stair climber wheels are extremely helpful, the cart is well balanced so it doesn’t tip forward like many others do when full, it keeps my work totes inside dry if raining, pulls across slushy parking lot with ease, I now have no shoulder pain, and I even received compliments the first day I brought it in to work.

I’m also extremely pleased that the cart folds and fits in the trunk of my car, which is a smaller sized car. I highly recommend the Trolley Dolly!.

After shopping for products from t. v. since the 90’s, this is my very first review of a product. I purchased my Trolley Dolly Stair Climber, a couple of years ago through BBB’s mail order because the store did not have it in stock.

The Trolley Dolly deserves a review, albeit very long overdue. I purchased the Trolley Dolly to assist me in carting my things to and from my doctor as my spinal fusion surgery was not successful in alleviating my pain.

I use the Trolley Dolly to hold my handbag, sweater, water bottle, and at times allow my small service dog to ride on top. It saves me from additional back pain by holding all I need when I have to go out.

The Trolley Dolly has so many pockets for keeping my things organized. I keep my phone and cash for the cab in the front zip pocket, my house keys in the back zip pocket, my water bottle in one of two side holders, my dog’s treats and folding water bowl, as well as a snack for me in the Velcro front pocket, there’s also another zip pocket on the inside of the main compartment.

One cannot ask for more organization! Recently, I had a problem with one set of the three wheels and I contacted dibest products in CA. The CS rep was very helpful, but most impressive was how Richard Elden (co-owner who appeared on Shark Tank), handled my problem.

As a senior with a disability, I appreciate such a wonderful product as the Trolley Dolly!!! And, if Richard Elden is representative of the company’s Mission Statement, I understand why dbest products has such a wonderful product!!!.

I have had this dolly for almost 2 months and I don’t know how I have lived my life without it! My laundry room is in the basement which is down 2 full flights of stairs. I stuff my laundry in and push the cart in front of me going down the stairs and pull it behind me going up.

This dolly makes carting laundry SO much easier and without pulling on my back. I have no rips or seam separation from stuffing the bag full. The wheels roll nicely. I don’t care how much noise it makes if it saves my back- it’s really no worse than walking with hard bottom shoes.

In conclusion. I LOVE IT!.

I’ve used hand trucks for about 20 years now. I grew up helping out in the family business, which dealt with a lot of material handling and hand truck usage. Having only used a competitors products, I decided to try the Global Industrial (GI) unit.

it is more cost practical and the quality is the same if not better than the competition. I will definitely buy GI from now on because of the overall value. Thus far, I have zero issues with the GI hand truck.

Very happy with the customer service and even happier with my overall experience with GI.

This hand truck is great considering it’s price and durability. It is longer than any others in it’s class which is the main reason I bought it. The only flaws are minor. One is that the washers on the large tire axle jingle while driving with it in my van.

I made a simple wooden wedge to prevent that. The other issue is that it really could use a brake while loading. It rolls very easily which is great unless it gets away from you. I would still recommend this to anyone needing a less expensive but very sturdy 4 wheeler.

We finally ordered a hand truck, and we love it. The assembly instructions could have been clearer, but we figured it out. The hand truck is very heavy, but it will be good for heavier things

Good quality and great price, I use around the house. Its not super light, your probably not power lifting this thing over your head (not impossible just making an analogy) or anything, adding to my comment of well made good quality, its also strong.

I’ve used it to carry furniture up my narrow stairs, a broken AC unit out to the detached garage, rolled the old stove out of way for new stove with it, and trolley heavy garbage can full of weeds and dirt from the yard.

This is a heavy duty hand-truck, ( or dolly if you prefer) VERY good build-quality, excellent wheels, ergonomically accurate in its leverage. Pull the 2 pins then insert the handle in the frame for 4-wheel cart usage.

The hand truck arrived quickly and the box was in good shape. Overall, the materials from which it was constructed seemed of sufficient quality to do the job promised. And the price makes it look like a great buy.

Sadly, that is the best I can say about this item. I bought it in May to replace an older, air-filled-tire hand truck I’d had for years that was borrowed and never returned. Due to a disability, I need such an item to truck groceries and whatnot from my Car to my distant 3rd floor apartment.

Assembling instructions were not helpful and some of the bolt, screw, nut and washer placements were so tight, it was not possible to tighten them properly without some sort of specialized wrenches or whatnots that I didn’t have.

And tightening them with fingers doesn’t work either. So, the first time I used my “assembled” hand truck (in the down flat position), I left a trail of screws, bolts, washers and nuts all the way down to my car.

I managed to get everything upstairs, and retrieved all the lost bits I could find, but did not find them all, and have not used the truck since. Disgusted, I left it sitting in a corner of the back room, where it will stay exiled until I drag it to the dumpster.

Lesson learned: you get what you pay for. I cannot recommend this hand truck. Better idea: buy one that does not need assembly. And never let your friends borrow the great hand truck you do eventually buy.

So I moved to a new city where I know no one. So I can’t just call my son’s or friends to help me move. I started thinking, A cart would be a help. I searched the internet, read review after review and finally decided on this little gem.

It shipped quickly and I got it actually 1 day sooner. Easy to put together until I got to the last 2 smaller wheels. After about 15 minutes trying to get them to set in the holes, I put it down and went to get a bit to eat.

Came back and searched the internet about a trick or something. Didn’t want to break them so I finally got a rubber mallet and got them to set. After that it was a life saver moving. Now I didn’t have a fridge or w/d or oven.

Just normal everyday storage bins. It says it will hold up to 700 lbs. I didn’t get close to that weight, but went over every bump with ease. Used 2 wheels and all 4, but worked like a dream. Easy to store, doesn’t take a lot of room if you stand it up like a dolly.

I needed a lightweight small to store cart to transport two guitars, a pedal board and backpack in out for gigs. From a size perspective this cart meets all of those needs. From functionality the cart handle is flush with anything that is the same height as the handle and in my situation, a guitar case extends past the handle, so there is no where to put your hand to tilt the cart back or a point to pull/push it from.

All that was needed was to have a slight bend in the cross piece and it would have worked fine. Also the bottom extension when folded down does not lock in any way. This make standing a guitar case on the stand (bungee cord around the handle) having the potential to fall forward to the ground.

If the extension would have had the same locking points as the handle this could have been eliminated. Tightening the extension bolts does help but to be able to fold it (a needed feature for me) it still has the potential to collapse.

Some assembly is required, and the instructional picture that’s provided is not of the same cart model. Also, there are two caps on the axles that need removing before mounting the wheels, but the instructions don’t mention-or show-these.

The second, and bigger problem with this cart is the fold-up piece that folds in when you are finished using the cart. It does fold up in-between the main railing, BUT there is no safety clamp! Fold it up, no problem, but watch out, it will suddenly come flying down and smash your foot (not good, especially if you’re diabetic like me).

It could also come flying down and hit another piece of equipment, or even a guitar. Not including a safety clamp on the fold-up piece is a major, inexcusable oversight in the product design process, and a big safety issue.

I wanted a trolley that was sturdy and wouldn’t put my back out like my previous one. The height is spot on and the base length fits my stock boxes perfectly. I couldn’t recommend it enough, perfect all round.

So I have to say this hand truck was much better than expected. After reading other reviews about how it didn’t perform good on stairs I was very skeptical. But it performed good on stairs inside and outside.

All the good definitely outweigh the bad but I’ll list all the things that weren’t so good. 1. The little plastic things on the outside of the handle grips kept hurting my hands. But if you want to you could just cut them off.

2. Because of the three wheels it doesn’t turn so good. 3. Its pretty heavy and comes with no directions. I’m 100% percent glad I bought it and I’m very happy with the product. I very much recommend.

This cart will meet my needs for occasional use, but I would definitely want something better for everyday usage. Even though I am quite short, I found the handle too short to comfortably use it. I was so bent over going up and down the stairs that I worried I might lose my balance.

Another six inches or so would be very helpful. The bungee cord that came with the cart to secure loads was also damaged, probably at the factory, although it could have been damaged in shipping as the box was heavily mangled.

I use to have another brand dolly that also had the same type of wheels however, it wasn’t made well. This one is great. I use my dolly to bring my grocery from my car to my home because parking is far away.

I also use it to take my trash to the curve. I was happy I found this dolly. I am really happy with it. The only con I have is that it is heavy to pick up. But other than that I am in love with the durability of this dolly.

It does what it’s supposed to. I’d just be aware of a) the weight and stability of what you’re moving and b) your physical limitations. My husband and I were able to move stuff up and down our stairs to the house with no problem.

Doing a slow controlled, supported drop for each stair or a steady pull to go up, worked just fine. I don’t know if people have issues with this because of maybe their stairs being less compatible Only complaints were that it came with metal jutting out the box (but to be expected for what it is, and it wasn’t damaged at all) and that there was some assembly required and no directions.

Ours didn’t look like the one pictured, so we just guessed how to put it together based on the materials provided. I’m happy with it, though. It’s made my move a ton easier. 45 stars cause of the lack of instructions.

I feel it’s worth the price and helped me just as much as one of the more expensive ones at the hardware stores would have.

It’s a great system, handles load well, does (small) stairs smoothly — sadly, the rubber handles (with the clever knuckle guards) weren’t quite placed properly, so one is rotated more than the other, and they are not going to budge without being destroyed.

Otherwise very pleased with the product, and it reached us quickly.

Good product, but stair climber tract broke. Instead of questioning me or asking me to send it back, they just refunded my full payment and told me to “dispose of the dolly” as I see fit. Needless to say, I still can use it as a normal dolly, so I’m totally blown away.

I love Global and have purchased a couple of things from them in the past, and I have never been disappointed. Good company!!!.

first the hand track arrived without wills, than than wills package send is not fitting the hand track. It is about 2″ too short. I had to weld an extension in the middle of it, grind one side of the axle to make it fit the frame.

The wills retaining washer and safety pins are thin and soft. So I found good quality pins and washers at Home Depot. The stair rollers are about 1-1/2″ pass the wills, so I cut the metal plates off and welded about 3″ back and welded the axle to the frame to make it sturdy.

It is a heavy hand truck and rated for 350 lb. only. The stair belt is very stiff comparable with my old furniture hand truck and I’m planing to replace them. With the above improvements I will use it to lift water heaters.

After the improvements I rate it at B+.

I needed a hand truck to move my daughter into her apartment on the fourth floor when she went to college. This hand truck made slight work of it. I am a 5’ 10” female and the height of this hand truck was perfect.

I looked around online at a lot of hand trucks and did not want one of those little rolling carts/hand trucks where the handles were between 36” to 46” and cost around the same. I moved her in by myself and had to make several trips to the parking garage because she took everything but the kitchen sink.

I didn’t have really heavy objects such as appliances but mainly plastic storage bins which I moved in 4 at a time. They probably weighed about 20-25 lbs. each. I have no doubt that this hand truck can handle heavy objects like furniture/appliances.

The pneumatic rubber wheels allowed me to take a shortcut into the building from the parking garage using the stairs (only about 4 steps) so that I didn’t have to wait behind everyone else to use the ramp.

It was very crowded since it was the designated “move-in day”. I had the best hand truck and everyone (students, moms, and mostly dads) was checking it out. I’m sure wishing they were using it. Like I said, it made slight work of moving her things.

This hand truck is of solid construction and a BEAST! It’s great to have available around the house. I wish I would have had it many years ago for a variety of heavy objects I’ve had to strain to move by hand (sometimes with the help of others).

If you can afford it, definitely get this and not some puny hand truck. This is the real deal. I am sure my brothers will be wanting to borrow it or buy one of there own!.

This usually lives tucked up under the deck but when I need a hand hauling some weight up on down the yard or upstairs (have a LOT of stairs and hill – live on a 18% grade) it’s worth it’s weight in gold! I cut a piece of plywood with notches for the handles just to keep it from sliding around and moved 32 bags of concrete from the driveway to the bottom of my sloped lot last summer.

Swap the plywood for an old milk crate and did the same with 3 ton of rock, a palate of bricks (just a dozen or so at a time) a dozen 6×6 8’ landscape Timbers and dozens of bags of manure and soils. The tires are great for out doors and rough terrain.

Hose it off and head upstairs with cabinets and bookcases. Being in my 70’s and working alone this is sturdy and rugged enough to tackle just about anything you could throw at it. I was even able to use it with a block & tackle and some leverage to lower a 38” boulder down the slope using the handle as a 3rd point of contact.

Only a bunch of paint lost but it held up. GET THIS.

I went in needing a two wheel hand truck. The model I wanted it was gone. I looked at this one being a bit smaller I didn’t think I wanted it. I decided I just needed it and to not wait got home did my moving projects and it handled everything making it quite easy, I will say that while deciding I did look at a few of the same.

first one the handle at the weld had a small piece of welding wire. having sold welding equipment for 30 years I though poor finish and cold weld. I went back got a second on the wheels seemed a bit cambered in.

I decided to roll that one back before check out finding one that I felt was good. I guess I say that not because I expect perfection it is a discount two wheeler but I would recommend a good inspection to avoid future frustrations.

I recommend this it is very well balanced and aside from the above statement it seems of good quality and certainly worth the price.

I purchased this a couple of years ago in advance of moving out of my office. It sat in the office awaiting moving day for a matter of weeks. When I went to use it the first time, the tires had deflated.

I purchased a bicycle pump to keep around for when the tires deflated the next time. Three years hence, the steel & aluminum frame is in great shape. The tires, though, no longer hold air. The replacement tires are expensive and I have no reason to believe that they are likely to be any improvement upon the factory-installed tires.

I bought this cart because I needed a two way cart for a LONG time. I seen this cart on ebay for $129. 00 and was thrilled when I saw it at Sam’s for a lot less. I bought it even though some of the reviews were stating it was cheap and the wheels were breaking easily.

I can tell you I must have got a good one because I push this through stones and up ramps and down everything in booth the two way and upright mode and it works. It pushes real easily with the pneumatic tires which are 10 inch, I had a cart for a long time that was just an upright and it had smaller pneumatic tires and pushed a lot harder even going up steps, so this cart is a dream.

When handling heavy loads the wheels do not come off the hubs, which are steel and not plastic. It is strong and durrable and made in the USA! The caster wheels are connected by a bolt through the hub, They are not pressed in so they will be real easy to replace even if they do break.

I have used this cart a lot already and everytime I am glad I bought it. It is cheaper than having an extra employee to just move equipment in and out of a facility. The only negative I would give it is the tires leave off an odor, kind of like a cross between new tires and gas, I am still waiting for that to go away, but it is, finally.

Other than that I have absolutley no complaints a cart like this will cost a lot more. If you need a two way cart get this one, you won’t be disappointed.

Hand truck is considerably cheaper than competitors. Quality is average. Have had to return two for defective tires/wheels. A run flat tire would be a much better option. I find it hard to believe that this hand truck could handle 900 lb.

Axel has bent under much less of a load, but if you treat it within reasonable limits, it can be quite effective for transporting merchandise.

DONT BUY THIS P. O. S. !!!!!! I wasted $240 on this 2 months ago. It is supposed to be heavy duty, but it most certainly is NOT! I deliver auto parts daily, and I put about 200-250 lbs on it at a time.

it says 1000 lbs which is B. S. After just 2 months the thing is twisted out of shape, the welds are breaking, the handle grips slip off and the latch doesn’t hold and keeps falling off. Now the latch is stripped out so I can’t use it at all.

A total waste of money that I don’t have to waste!!!!.

I recently had 2 moving jobs. The versatility of this hand truck made the job much easier. I utilize d all 4 positions of the dolly helping to move items safely and efficiently. Changing to the various positions was simple.

The 4 detailed options work excellently, tested weights and it exceeded what is printed at the 1,000lb cap. I highly recommend this product, superior brand for warehouse operations. I will purchase more in the near future as business picks up.

This is one of the best retractable, storable, portable medium duty carts available for the price. I did research and am totally satisfied I made the right choice here. Well made, with an abundance of metal material throughout.

Goes from an upright hand truck to a 4 wheel cart in no time. The longer 49” handle (which gives you more leverage with larger loads) surpasses much of the competition out there too. The only drawback is be cautious when stowing the handle into the compact, folded position: the wheels can snap back with much force – so keep your hands clear there.

Overall pretty good with a few minor changes it has potential to be perfect. 1) Stock back wheels, they suck. I replaced them with better quality casters as pictured (see info below) +2x $9 to cost. 2) When in dolly mode the handle is annoyingly a tad too short (~31″), and I’m average height (5’11”).

Another 6″ I wouldn’t notice it, an additional 12″ would be ideal. The height is perfect in hand truck mode, so 6″ could be a good compromise. I’m contemplating jerry rigging an attachment to make it a less awkward height, an adjustable handle would be good for Cosco to add.

3) Not a gripe, but a fair warning. I thought that this would be common sense. This is folding, watch your fingers! 4) The bottom is not at a 90 degree angle when in the hand truck configuration! Causes boxes to fall off, careless design flaw, added spacers (coins) on bottlm for fix.

Only used this once so far, so longevity and heavy work haven’t been tested yet. That said: Pros: * This is very smooth to pull around, as a cart or hand truck. * Light weight, when you have to pick it up over big steps.

* Folds up to a small unit, and can be hung up on a wall easily. * Easy to set up and take down, though a bit tricky at times. * Nice finishes, no burrs, or chatter on the plastic bits. * No odd or offensive smells, either.

I’d read some other brands stunk, but this one is fine. Cons: * Smaller wheels, means a rough ride if you’re on rough terrain, and stairs are a problem. We found that just grabbing the bottom to carry it up stairs was faster, and easier than expected.

I’m 60 yrs old & female, and had no problem carrying the bottom, while the old man grumbled from the top. : ) * Collapsing it down to store is easy, but tricky, and fingers could get hurt if you’re not careful.

It’s not that intuitive, and the directions are nowhere to be found, so it takes a bit of trial and error to get it up and down a few times, before you figure it out. Overall, Hubby had a fit about wheel size, and if you’re looking for heavy duty work, or doing a lot of stairs, that’s a valid issue, but we’re going to a 1-story home soon, so it won’t be an issue for us.

I need it for dragging salt bags to the water softener, or mulch to the yard, etc, and it will be great for that. Hanging it up out of the way is a very cool option, and worth losing an inch or two on wheel size, to me.

(FYI the back wheels are about 5″, and the smaller front wheels are about half that. I didn’t measure, just eyeballing it. ) I love it, hubby is still grumbling.

Yep, I did buy this product again. I bought it the first time when I was moving from NC to PA. Good thing I did. The movers brought their own which didn’t help much and if I didn’t have this on hand, the movers would have taken twice the time to load the truck.

Unfortunately, I had no space to put it on the truck and ended up selling to a friend. However, 2 weeks after I got to PA, the first thing I ordered was the Cosco 2in1 Convertible Hand Truck. I will not do without it.

So far it is the best dolly I’ve owned. It is light weight and easy to use, The frame is strong, the wheel roll smoothly and make the job so much easier to complete than your standard ones. It is extremely versatile and easy to use.

This little hand truck is perfect for a household. We move big flower pots around, I use it to bring in 50 lb. bags of corn to feed the deer that roam through our subdivision. It is very sturdy and the retractile handle is longer than other hand trucks we’ve had or used.

It folds up and unfolds very easily. You use your foot to do it and it fits in about a 2 inch space. And the foot plate is larger than others we’ve seen so bigger packages stay on easier with having to use a bungee strap to keep it from falling off.

This company, Harper had a huge selection of hand trucks. It is very economically priced and arrived three days after we ordered it from Staples. There was a distribution company where it was available but the wait was longer and the company had no telephone number on its site.

You could only communicate by email and chat. I was very happy to see that Staples sold it. I’ve bought from them for years trusted them. Shipping was free.

There’s a design flaw with this cart. I’ve gone through 4 of these carts and every time it breaks, it’s the same thing – the open and close mechanism stops working. I have to manually hold one of the wheels open and then I can push down on the lip to open the cart.

I’ve returned this to Home Depot all 4 times and every time I do this, the person at the return desk says this happens a lot with this product. My advice buy something else. The last time it broke I opened the mechanism up and what a surprise.

Poor design!! They use a spring that inserts into a plastic hole which over time strips the plastic, hence why it stops working. Lazy design and poor construction. Seriously, stay away from this cart, buy something that costs a little bit more but will work for years to come.

This was absolutely essential for making my move a few months ago go smooth as can be. So glad I bought this hand truck; it was easy to operate, not hard to steer at all. The bottom was large (and strong) enough to allow me to place a mini fridge on it, that was about 50 pounds, as well as several other items stacked on top of each other.

I couldn’t recommend this product enough and highly encourage anyone in search of a hand truck for moving to get this one!.

The best thing about this hand truck is the hard rubber tires. I don’t have to inflate tires anymore! It is a good solid and well made truck. Made in USA. I have a heavy-duty one so this will work best for my lighter loads.

It’s a solid and very good hand truck. Be aware that the leverage afforded by the back/handle will not be sufficient for carrying heavier loads on the tongue unless the weight is very close to the back.

In my case, I need to transport multiple 50# bags of livestock feed. The drop-down tongue is too narrow for bags, but the cart is unwieldy if the bags are placed long-ways. For lighter loads, the tongue will work fine.

I ended up stacking 2 bags together on end with the tongue down. Problem is that I could carry that #100 on a cheaper truck. And given the load rating that I bought this for, I expected to be able to carry 4 bags and still control the cart.

I’ll end up making a simple cross-ways platform from plywood. Should be able to get 3 and may be able to truck 4 with that mod.

I have 3 Magliner Hand Trucks for a reason, they are built to last. Early in my business I was gifted a hand truck which became a standard piece of equipment, but wasn’t strong enough to handle the day to day use I was putting it through and knew I needed something strong and reliable.

Decision wasn’t hard to figure out, almost every commercial delivery truck has a Magliner Hand Truck. Only suggestion I’d make, spend the money and get the Foam Filled tires. you won’t regret it.

Well because it’s the class of it’s field, lightweight and strong. I like the raw material construction, it’s not like they use a bright color to hide anything. Yes it’s more expensive than the others but you are getting what you pay for to me.

Gotta be mechanically inclined to put it together but nice solid light weight tool ….watch the 3 min you tube videos it with save you time.

Does a great job of helping to move items. Standing up or lying flat, it works. Weights a few pounds due to construction, but is manageable.

This compact dolly is very sturdy and easy to use. It holds a lot of weight and you can easily fold it and put in your car. It can ve used as a two or four wheeler.

I bought this for my daughter that lives in an apartment and she loves it. It makes her life easier getting things up to her second floor apartment.

Don’t care for the hard tires. Used to the rubber air tires which are more comfortable going down stairs. The hard tires give quite a jar on each step going down. The slide that is supposed to help going up stairs does not work very well on interior stairs but I suppose where the stairs have open backs such as outside stairs it would work much better than a regular hand truck.

The handle extends to quite a height and the metal pins work good to lock the height that is set. Would be nice to have more adjustment holes but I suppose I could drill extra holes. The plastic parts do make it much lighter than my D-handle dolly and the strength does not seem to be affected.

I ordered it online and when I went to get it the pins that fix the handle were missing so I think they are a item that Home Depot has a problem with people stealing them or they have to be assembled and they are lost.

I bought it because it was convertible to 4 wheel and it had a runner for stairs. If you do not need those features get a D-handle hand truck with soft tires.

Exactly what I needed for a small move. I haven’t used it much yet because it is missing one of the lock pins (one side of the handle does not lock because of a missing pin) when I received it. Had to order the pin from somewhere else.

That is the only issue so far. For the price and even with the expense of buying the pins, still a good deal. Rolls well and the wheels are solid, hard plastic. Has a built-in stair glide that I have not used yet.

I wouldn’t use this for extremely heavy objects even though it is rated for 400lbs. Just doesn’t seem like it would support anything above 200lbs without issues. I would have given it 4 stars had Walmart been able to supply the $4 part.

I’ve been using this hand truck for a few years now. It comes in handy for small to medium sized heavy items like a bulk bucket of cat litter. It fits nicely in a car trunk. It takes up minimal storage space.

It’s great for short trips, like from your car to your door. This hand truck does have a few issues. First of all, changing from upright to flat configuration is fiddly and time consuming, having to juggle the pins and the handle and getting the holes to line up.

I’m afraid to lose the pins someday. The wheels are cheap plastic, especially the tiny front casters. I do not recommend this hand truck for delicate items (like fish tanks) because of the bumpiness and vibration.

It’s not a great hand truck for longer distances. This hand truck works poorly with standard sized tie down straps or bungee cords. The frame underneath is too thick for the hooks and has too many angles, so the tie down hooks slide out of position and unhook when the hand truck vibrates.

To make matters worse, the surface that contacts the load is smooth as glass, which causes the load to shift very easily. Today a 30 gal aquarium I had just purchased slipped and fell off of the flat dolly and smashed because the tie down straps slid on the angled chassis and came unhooked.

I also find that when flat, this dolly is too short (about 20 inches) to carry many loads. Finally, there are no protectors over the wheels, which means items like garbage and pet food bags get caught in the rear wheels.

Overall this hand truck is OK as an entry level dolly for short trips to the car with light to medium, well contained loads. But for larger, longer, shifting loads that need to be tied down – spend the money on a larger model with better wheels, or one that has three positions.

I like the design, with the clever convertibility between the hand truck and dolly. the fact that it’s (mostly) aluminum makes it easy to transport. Unfortunately, the wheels and more specifically the bearings are pitifully cheap and short lived.

The bearings are sealed in the wheels so they cannot be replaced. Good wheels with good bearings cost just a little biit more. I know because I’m having to replace them after only a short period of rather light use.

This is way better quality and build than most, even more exspesive hand trucks. Folds easily and converts between dolly and hand cart/truck quickly. Unlike most others, the fork is attached very securely, not likely to break off.

The over all design is great. I recommend it. Only spending more money on higher models of this or professional hand trucks will get you a stronger built one. My only regret is this is the lighter version than I was going to get and has the hard plastic tires.

The next model up has the rubber air filled tires which are better especially for heavier lifting. For this one’s weight class the plastic ones are fine, just never liked ’em. I may and you can change the wheels out for air filled ones.

Not sure yet, it may be cheaper to just buy the upper model with them instead? Either way, as a Truck Driver’s son, I grew up using my Dad’s professional-grade hand truck. For the money they still sell his exact model for several hundred dolloars more.

But for 95% of people out there using this for around the house, garage, or moving, it will do everything you need it too and should last a long time. I wouldnt leave it outside unattended or it may disappear on you.

As much as you’ll like so will everyone else.

Pros: This hand truck is lightweights and easy to use. Easily switch between the three options. Cons: load capacity is not 1000lbs. I would rate for half that. Moving heavy block from the street up the driveway three times and the wheels failed.

And this was in the cart position so the weight was distributed better. Not stable. The wheels gave out. This was probably around 600lbs. 1000lbs would not be correct. Would be a nice design for light moving.

Like boxes and smaller items. Not a good option for anything heavy.
