Great product, good price, lightweight and very easy to handle. This tool cuts wood like cutting cheese. The blades are so sharp and its ideal for small projects that require precision cutting without ripping the edges.

I enjoyed it so much because it is so easy to use and doesnt tire your arms. I recommend this pull saw to anyone looking for a quality tool.

This is a great saw. I never used one before, but now it is my go to saw. It cuts great with little effort. I would buy this saw again.

I did a lot of research on chisels before I decided to choose these. I really liked the value for money that you get with these, especially at Home Essentials Direct prices, but I kept getting put off by ‘experts’ that claimed they were no good.

A lot of people recommended Narex instead, but a lot of those same people complained that the QC done by Narex was inconsistent at best. It didn’t really look like you could pick a winner at this price range.

I decided to pull the trigger on a set despite the negative remarks from some of the experts, and overall I’m really happy that I did. I’ll preface this with the fact that I’m using these for fine joinery and that I have high expectations for end results.

Initial impressions: Out of the box these are good looking chisels. There are plenty of machine marks on the steel, but overall everything looks clean and flat. The cutting edges out of the box leave something to be desired.

Do not expect these to be honed when you get them. Don’t even expect them to make good cuts out of the box. They are mediocre at best, and about as sharp as I can get them with 220 grit sandpaper. Honing impressions: these were dead-flat out of the box, which is seriously impressive for the price.

Honing the back 3/4″ or so on each to flat and smooth took no longer than about 15 minutes total. Sharpening impressions: These sharpen well, far better than I expected given the overall bad reputation that these have in the online woodworking communities.

Using 400, 600, 1500, and finally 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper brings these up to ‘pretty sharp’. I can pare end grain cleanly with them at this point. Adding 2 final polishing stages with green then red polishing compound impregnated on a piece of balsa gets them to ‘absurdly sharp’ to the point that I’m afraid of leaving them out on the benchtop.

A mirror polish finish is definitely possible with these and a bit of effort. Edge retention: These chisels do their job really well through each project for me. I usually sharpen everything up at the end of a project so that they’re ready for the next use.

I haven’t found a need to sharpen these mid-project just yet. Maybe a quick run on some polishing compound here and there for touch-up, but definitely no need to go back to the beginning. Handles: This is my biggest con for these chisels.

The handles are fairly small in diameter and not very long. What this means is that my large hands have a hard time holding these for paring or body-weight chopping for an extended period. They’re not socket chisels, so you’re stuck with what they come with.

The material of the handles is a durable plastic. I have no doubt they’ll hold up to being driven by a wooden joiners mallet or a rubber hammer. Using these with a steel hammer is asking too much in my opinion, and you really shouldn’t be doing that to your chisels anyways.

Overall: I’m happy with them for a good set to get started in hand-cut joinery. For the price I don’t think that you could find much better. My intention is now to slowly upgrade the most-used chisels from this set to some socket chisels, but those are running around $30/each.

I don’t imagine that I’ll need to upgrade inside a year. I would suggest these for anyone interested in fine woodworking, but are working on a budget. I wouldn’t suggest them for carpentry though, I’ve seen what those guys do to tools, they should stick to the through-tang Stanely’s.

The one key note that I would take impress is that no matter the brand you will need to hone and sharpen your chisels out of the box, these are no exception, but if you’re willing to spend a bit of time and effort on them these can be fantastic chisels.

I have more much expensive wood chisels made in Switzerland that do a great job – but I use these chisels a whole lot more often. They hold an edge well and do not have to be treated as delicate precision objects.

Rather than patting the end of the handle with your hand you can hit these with a hammer and they will come back for more. I am a professional woodworker. My son recently decided to become a woodworker, as well! In setting up his shop one of the first tool sets I recommended to him was this one.

I wanted a chisel set with a box. at least 6 sizes up to 1 inch, from a brand I recognize, but nothing crazy expensive. Well. I got all that BUT. The edges were quite literally no better than butter knives.

I spent 2 hours grinding, honing and polishing by hand. Durability is an unknown as these are definitely not full tang, and using a magnet they appear to have tangs about 1/3 the length of the handles.

Oh well. so many options, so few in brick n mortar shops, you take risks.

All western push saws seem dumb after using a pull saw. Even the cheap Chinese one I have. This one is nicer again with one side a proper rip saw the other a proper crosscut design as opposed to the hybrid ones trying to do it all slightly improperly.

Lovely blade. Not a big fan of the cane wrap, so I wrapped mine in magic tape to give it more grip.

It is still a work in progress, because I am learning to use the saw. I have been sawing on the push stroke for seventy years. Sawing with this saw, on the pull stroke, gives me a better sense of control.

Get value, accurate saw cuts, and fun to use!.

This tool has saved me having to go out and purchase hundreds of dollars worth of various tools. It cuts beautifully and is easily one of my favorite tools in my modest DIY shop.

I used this one inch chisel to hang a closet door. It worked pretty good to clear wood for the hinge recess. I just held the door up to the existing hinges on the frame. drew around them on the new door and used the chisel to remove my Mark’s.

5 min or less per hinge. The chisel worked like a charm. I will definitely return to get other size Dewalt chisels. I am sold on the yellow and black. The packaging also says it’s a carbon steel blade so it should be easy to sharpen, however after three hinges it is still sharp as new.

My only gripe is the steel cap on the end for the hammer to hit. Most people would love this feature, but myself am very sound adverse and could do without the strike cap. The handle however, provides a superior grip.

I am sold enough I will buy the complete set.

I have used this chisel for several projects and am very pleased. I mortised a door for hinges and lockset. The edge is sharp and durable. The handle easy to hold with gloves or bare hands. Very easy to position while hitting with a hammer.

The handle shows no sign of damage or mushrooming. I also put the chisel to good use removing some interior door trim which had been painted on and required cutting through the paint and prying off the trim.

The trim came off without and damage to the wall saving me the work of patching and repainting.

The quality is average. The steel holds an edge about the same as other brands I own. The molding of the handle and overmolding is good quality and the handle shape fits well. The lacquer on the blade comes off quickly and offers little corrosion protection.

sadly most other brands use the same finish. the big downfall of this product is the warranty. I cant walk into a big box store and get a free replacement.

A fine chisel, except that it is ground but not honed as delivered and therefore must be honed before use. The Rockler honing guide (Item # 92651) does not clamp this chisel securely as the sides are too thick for the tiny angled grooves.

I’m talking about the 1/4 inch chisel (actual width 0. 243 inches / 6. 18 mm). I would have to go back to the store and look at the others.

As a beginner Luthier, I wanted something that would not break the bank and still be of great quality. Well Erwin Blue Chip chisels is just that. They serve my purpose well and with the right care, I should be able to a life’s time use from them.

I highly recommend the Erwin Blue Chip Chisel for anyone that has stay within a certain budget but still needs a great quality tool.

I have not had a chance to use the chisels much since I bought them, but the edges did hold up trimming the small amount of wood I have worked on. I would have liked to have seen a 1 1/4 inch chisel offered to complete the set.

I found the initial honing of the chisels to be fairly easy. The backs were flat with shallow machining marks that came out with a small effort. This was far less than some other chisels I have had. Each edge was square, and had no gouges in the edges.

The sides of the chisels appear to be 90 degrees to the back, and the sides are parallel the length of the blade.

I bought this as I recognised the brand and trusted it to work well. Unfortunately the saw does not work very well. The bit that holds the blade at the opposite end of the handle drops out real easy during blade replacement and falls into the depths of your tool kit/under bench.

I also found that the blade twisted too easy during cutting, making it difficult to cut accurately. The saw has grooves for the blade holder to change cutting angles, but these grooves are shallow and the bit simply slips out of place.

No amount of tightening things up makes any improvements. I’d avoid this if I were you. I am going to replace mine.

This saw helped me make the right coping cuts for internal corners on a room full of skirting boards. You can be very accurate with it, the supplied blade is good. If I had one criticism I’d wish the handle was less circular so that you could index it more easily, but on the whole this is a solid & reliable product.

Used it once. Went to use it again but the adjustment screw was stuck hard and was unmovable. Broke the metal end off the adjustment knob trying to loosen the adjustment screw

If you need bark off than you need these things. It came with a pritty good edge on it. Good enough to go as is but putting a little bit better one on it is better. I’ll give it 5 stars because the sale price and it takes to long to make one out of an lawnmower blade.

The angle of the handles I’ll probably make different to suit me. That’s something that’s going to be different feel for everyone. Depends on how you want to hold it and your position to your log. Over all I’ll say it good.

The picture does not reflect the actual size of the unit. The proportions of handle to blade length is actually much smaller than the picture shows. Also the blade has a slight curve not shown in the picture.

Blade works well and is reasonably sharp out of the box. This draw knife is best to remove bark from the edge of a slab, rather than from a complete log.

I bought this 5” draw knife to peel some larger branches a neighbor allowed me to collect after he had some large Douglas Fir Trees removed from his property. I will be using the rough hewn branch/logs to build an outdoor pergola/privacy screen for our fire pit area in the backyard.

I am very happy with how the logs are turning out, the color is beautiful and the tool is fairly easy to work with, though it is a very athletic activity. I only am able to peel a few a day ever other day or so (like an epic arm day at the gym!) but that is fine.

Highly recommend this tool, it is well built and easy to sharpen with a file as needed.

Very useful for cutting detail and clean edges on linocuts. Easy to hold comfortably due to handle shape. Haven’t tried it on wood yet. (hence only 4 stars) The blade is sharp straight out of the box.

Yet to see how long it retains its’ edge but looks like it should be ok as long as I remember to hone it briefly before use every now and again, (as I should do with all my cutters).

I have had my on this elegant little tool for some time. I bought the 1mm scoop first but coveted the v gouge, so finally bit the bullet and bought it. It is perfection! The shape and size of the handle fits hy palm perfectly and the blade carves out the tiniest sliver of linoleum with ease.

Just right for out lining or tiny details. So many possibilities! Happy Printing, everyone!.

First class tools that work well for small details on your carvings. Sharp and ready to go. Seem to hold their edge so far, but time will tell as I have only had them for a short while. Easy to sharpen on a strop, I would think.

This does the job very well at a much lower price than most of the new drawknives our there. The blade is nice and thick. It had to be sharpened, but most do. Once sharpened, it did its job very well.

I bought this for my son who is showing an interest in “rustic” woodworking skills. He was debarking logs with his hatchet, and I figured this would be easier. So far it has worked fine for that and he finds it easy to use and faster than the old method.

Very disappointed in this product. Said it came with blade sharpened. When I tried to use it, it wouldn’t cut into the wood. Blade was rough and had a burr all along the bottom. Going to have take some time to with a whetstone to get where I can use it.

Other than that it seems to be very well built.

First off, let’s begin by saying what needs to be said even though it doesn’t need to be said: Chisels, regardless of the brand, will ALWAYS need some work right out of the box before you start using them.

Let me repeat: CHISELS, REGARDLESS OF THE BRAND, WILL ALWAYS NEED SOME WORK RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX BEFORE YOU START USING THEM. I’m a beginner in using chisels. I purchased these to train myself on how to sharpen chisels and make dovetails by hand without the hideous expense of something like Stanley Sweethearts or Narex.

Having said that, let’s begin with my thoughts on the business end of this set. The blades will likely need to be squared up, sharpened, polished and flattened to an acceptable level. No – they DEFINITELY need to be squared up, sharpened, polished and flattened.

Be prepared to spend a little bit more for a diamond sharpener (the one at HF will work just fine) and a sharpening jig for chisels and plane irons. Ensuring your chisels are sharpened at the correct angle, polished and flattened will make for a better time in using them.

No ifs, ands or buts. Secondly, the handle. The handle appears to be a very light wood, so you don’t want to abuse these with a metal hammer. Use a wooden mallet or a rubber mallet. I doubt these things will take abuse like the aforementioned brands, so take it easy.

If possible, and as a side project, maybe make a new set of handles for them out of some harder wood. Lastly, and this goes for any chisel, DON’T DROP THEM. These chisels seem especially susceptible to denting or possible bending if they hit metal or hard ground.

I doubt they’re heat treated properly, if at all, so the metal is extremely soft, as is evident by the sharpening process. They’re great for a little light work and some training, but I wouldn’t recommend taking these to hard woods on a regular basis.

Well I have only used this product once. I bought them for only one of the sizes in the pack. I needed the smallest one for a job on the enfield stock. Needless to say I didn’t have any experience with using a chisel and the results show’s.

It’s not the chisel fault, it’s mine. I stupidly didn’t put the stock in a vise and resulted in running the chisel almost through my left hand. Dang did it hurt and so much blood. Luckily my youngest daughter knew exactly where the first aid kit was and sprung into action.

It’s a great product BUT BE VERY CAREFUL AND NOT STUPID LIKE ME. Learn from my mistakes so you will be more prepared and informed.

I own some very expensive chisels but I needed to take up some ceramic tiles so I got these inexpensive ones, figuring to trash them when done. I was shocked, when I finished the chisels were still in good shape.

I was able to sharpen them and easily shave my arms with them. I will see how the hold up with a scarry sharp edge. For the money these are great. You can pay $100 for some Sweetheart Chisels and get a great chisel set but for $10 these won’t hold an edge as good but I can chisel ceramic tiles and not worry about damaging them.

Wear safety goggles when ever using a chisel.

As a maintenance man for a disability center, I’m constantly working on doors and windows, etc. There’s always a little “tweek” needed to get things to fit properly, and this chisel has made me look like a champ on many occasions.

Wouldn’t be without it.

I use chisels often when making different wood joints and these Stanley Chisels are a fantastic addition to the shop. Durable, strong and very sharp, but also comfortable grip to use them with. These chisels are one of the most essential tools in my shop, great addition for a beginner or a pro!.

My dad gave me some of these chisels. I hadn’t really used chisels before but needed them when making some storage solutions for some tools in my garage and these were quite handy! I they felt sturdy and stable using them.

I was afraid I would slip and they’d chip something I wasn’t trying to touch but they were easy to make fairly precise cuts and depending on the angle you can take off a decent amount of wood at one time making quick work of my project.

I bought this three piece set for two reasons: I wanted some butt style chisels and I was curious as to what quality could Stanley produce for such a low price. It took only a few minutes on diamond stones and then oil stores followed by stropping on chromium oxide green to produce outstanding sharpness (tested by shaving my forearm and paring endvgrain pine, poplar and mahogany).

They performed as well as chisels costing 15 times as much and in use chopping mortise stood up well, requiring minimal stopping to stay so sharp. The handles are genuinely ergonomic. Definitely recommend adding this set to your tool chest.

It would be nice if the set included a 1/4 inch size too.

As an old-time Locksmith as well as a Do-It-Yourselfer, I prefer to make all the finishing touches by hand. I have been doing this since my Father first took me to a Lumber Yard when I was 3. Its funny how you remember little things for so many years.

My Father needed some wood for his store, but requested that the Yard Man make the necessary cuts. As a 3-year old with wide eyes and curiosity, the tool the Yard Man used to measure the lumber was a Stanley Tape measure.

This stuck with me as I grew up and saw more and more professionals using Stanley products. And of course my Father and Grandfather had Stanley tools in their toolboxes and workshops. I tried to help my Father and Grandfather whenever I could, and was thrilled when given a Stanley Screwdriver, Chisel, Hammer or any Stanley tool.

As I grew I started my own tool collection, Stanley of course. My grandparents knew that I would prefer some tool made by Stanley over any toy, and they indulged my wishes. In focusing on Stanley Chisels, as I entered my teenage years I learned how to sharpen Stanley Chisels and Stanley Plane Blades to a “hollow ground” ensuring the tool would remain sharp well through the project and through additional projects.

Recently we had to replace the front door to our house. We ordered the new door which the factory mortised to accept the lock. But since we were using the existing door frame, we had to hand cut and align the strike plate with the newly hung door.

It was literally a thrill to take my Stanley Chisel and gently cut out the necessary recesses for the plate. The factory sharpness was unsurpassed and the Stanley Chisels cut through the trim as if were simply moving through air.

The grip on the Stanley Chisels was very comfortable (which was a blessing in disguise as I recently had hand surgery to repair prior nerve damage). I have not used a finer Chisel then these made by Stanley.

I highly recommend them to all my fellow DIYer’s and to all professionals. The only downside is that Stanley has made these Chisels of such high quality, replacements will be needed in the very distant future as they are designed to be passed down from generation to generation.

Stanley made the chisels out of a single piece of steel that runs through the handle to the striking cap, so the chisels are very strong. The black rubber covering on the handle provides a comfortable and secure grip.

The precision ground cutting edge is ultra sharp, making shaving smooth and clean.

This is one solid piece of metal, just one, from the point of the chisel to the tip where you hit it with your hammer. The handle is very, very comfortable. This is a chisel for truly heavy work. Will never break.

I bought a full set of #60 chisels 50 years ago for my Dad, he still uses them today. I bought a full set of The Fat Max chisels because of the thru-tang construction. This is a very durable chisel, will out last me.

Maybe something my grandson will inherit.

This is a good chisel for the money if you need a large chisel. It sharpened easily to a razor sharp edge. I have not used it enough to comment on edge sharpness retention. The handle is plastic and although it could be struck with a dead blow mallet, I am not sure about a metal headed hammer.

The rougher cuts great, this is the first full size tool I’ve tried. It handles well and is very comfortable to hold, even when turning for long periods of time. The inserts are great for people who can’t or won’t sharpen the HSS tools.

I bought this tool, together with an Easy Wood negative rake carbide insert, to work with epoxy hybrid woodturning. It works great. I also use it for cutting end grain wood.

As a novice wood turner, I found this tool to be invaluable as it eliminates the need to constantly sharpen chisels. When the carbide cutter dulls, you simply change it. A real time saver.

Overall I am happy with this plane in terms of both quality and performance. I was skeptical about my purchase based on (especially older) reviews and was pleasantly surprised out of the box. The casting was of good finish and flat as delivered.

The blade needed touch up but not extensive flattening or sharpening (unlike some premium irons I have purchased which needed quality time with a stone before they were usable). There are two areas where I think the quality could be improved.

First, the lever cap. It is either plastic or very light metal and has a cheap and fragile feel. This is my primary complaint. Second, the adjuster. There is a lot of play in the adjuster for depth and lateral adjustment, and the location makes it difficult to adjust without stopping, lifting the plane off the work, and making adjustments.

This is not as big a shortcoming as the lever cap. I would purchase this plane again even knowing those things. It is reasonable value and quality for the price (purchased November 2021).

I was prepared to be a bit disappointed but I am pleased. So either earlier complaints about quality have had an impact on manufacturing and QC as this tool is definitely worth the money or I am very lucky.

I have been woodworking for 30+ yrs. I have used all sorts of hand planes from restored antiques to L-N. This tool is no LV or L-N but it is a high quality tool nonetheless. It came clean and sharp out of the box.

Nice heavy A2 blade which was flat, well ground and sharp enough to cut end grain easily out of the box. A brief stropping and it was as good as any. Seems to hold an edge as would be expected. Bottom is flat and square to sides, adjustable throat and bed are well machined.

The casting is quite massive compared to antique #62 so plane cuts with authority. The only complaint I have is the blade adjustment is a little fussy as the feed screw is small and in a tight spot (said the guy with fat fingers.

) Unlike bevel down types that you can adjust without shifting grip, I find I have to stop work to adjust. Not a big deal. If you are looking for a solid tool to put to work with this is hands down better than restoring an old fleabay Stanley (which can be lovely but always take a lot of work to get set up and have gotten surprisingly expensive).

Bottom Line: The tool is ready to work pretty much out of the box. The bevel up arrangement and massive blade are going to please as is and with a spare blade or two sharpened at different angles and you have a very versatile tool to tackle everything from dimensioning rough sawn timber to smoothing the wildest bird’s eye grain.

My oldest Stanley bench plane is a Depression-era #6 fore plane. I have a #45 combination plane and a #79 side rabbet that are a bit older, and a #5-1/4 jack and a #3 smoother that are a bit younger, but the Sweetheart #62 is my only 21st century Stanley bench plane, and the only one I’d recommend.

If it lasts as long as my old Stanley planes, I’m sure my great-grandchildren will be impressed. In addition to the #62, I also have a 21st century Sweetheart #78 and a low angle block plane and I’d recommend both of them, as well.

In a year and a half, I’ve used it on a variety of S4S and rough-sawn hardwoods, pine, and Doug fir. The throat adjusts easily and stays in place. The Norris-style adjuster works well and the iron is excellent, but it appears that Stanley quit making replacements, so I had to pay through the nose for some NOS from a seller on Ebay.

If you see some, grab two; grind the last quarter-inch of one to a 40 degree bevel so you can plane reversing grain at an effective 52 degrees, and camber one on a 10″ radius, so you can use it as a scrub plane.

The tote looks a bit odd, but it works well in conjunction with the tall knob.

I was very happy to receive this Stanley Tradecut 15 inch saw to trial and give my opinion. I do wood work with mostly hand tools. This is a great hand saw which is exactly what I expect from Stanley.

The 15 inch size has a great blade to handle ratio. The handle is ergonomically designed for comfort in the large hands of my husband or my own small hands. There are 45 and 90 degree blade markings.

The triple ground teeth make for a clean cut with equal ease on the pull and push. It also has a grooved index finger placement for ensuring straight cuts. I don’t use it but for those who do this is a nice feature.

This saw can NOT be sharpened. But with regular use, I don’t think there would be a need to do so. There are no visible screws on the handle to secure the blade. Whether that positively or negatively affects the overall durability, I can’t say.

I’ve used mine numerous times now on a variety of woods, including maple, pine, oak, and even tiger wood. It cuts clean and straight every time. It’s the perfect size for me because it’s large enough to handle big and thick cuts without the saw feeling unwieldy to carry or use.

Overall, I would highly recommend this Stanley Tradcut 15 inch saw as a basic staple for anyone that uses hand tools.

Great saw for the price. Especially that it’s made in Denmark. I saw that, and thought “wow Stanley, we’re getting fancy now!”. So right off the bat, the fact that it also cuts on the pull stroke made it easier to get my cut located and started than with traditional saws.

The handle is plenty comfortable. I was able to hold it in a lot of different ways, sometimes using just one hand and sometimes using both hands. I cut a piece of hard maple in half for the photos and it handled that just fine, so you know it will really fly through softer woods like fir and pine.

I found the saw quite easy to control and stay on the pencil line I had drawn on the wood. I haven’t tried it on PVC, but I imagine it would do just fine. Seems like nice quality for the price. I have a lot of panel saws, but I’m going to be gravitating to this one now.

It’s a smart size. As a bonus, Stanley incorporated a simple, yet effective square into this saw, using the non toothed edge of the saws blade as the squares straight edge, and the saws handle as both the 90 and 45 degree edges.

Quite clever, and it works well. You have to be more careful to make sure you’re getting the 45 degree lined up correctly, but it’s not difficult. I’m really glad Stanley has the confidence in their customers to use these bonus features.

I also like the hole at the tip end for hanging the saw.

This saw has a thicker blade than most of my hand saws at 0. 038” thick while most of my other saws are less than 0. 024” in thickness. You can notice the thickness when you first pickup the saw. This helps in a straight cut but is more to prevent bending or binding of the blade when sawing.

The kerf of the saw is approximately 0. 095”. The saw cuts fast, but to maximize the cutting speed you need to work on your technique because the saw cuts on both the pull (like a Japanese style saw) and on the push stroke.

The teeth are induction hardened which should allow for longer life of the saw (up to 8 times longer than non-hardened teeth). The only catch with induction hardened teeth is re-sharpening can be hard if not impossible, like a Japanese style saw you replace the blade you do not re sharpen the blade.

The saw does leave a rough cut, but for rough carpentry and a saw for your take anywhere toolbox it should do the trick. The handgrip which is comfortable with a rubberized palm also doubles as a square with the back of the blade allowing you to quickly draw a 90 or 45 degree line without reaching for another tool.

All in all, this saw should make a welcomed addition to your tool set.

This saw cuts quickly – much faster than other handsaws. The teeth stay sharp. I liked this saw so much I bought one for my father. After about 8 years of heavy use my saw needs replacing. Unfortunately it can only be purchased online.

I’m buying two for me so I have this saw for many years to come. I’m also buying one for my father. He is a retired carpenter and woodworker. He said this is the best saw he has ever owned.

I own 5 “general purpose” panel saws – 4 “Fords” and 1 “Ferrari”. you can guess which is my favourite. This Stanley Sharptooth cuts like a hot knife through butter on the construction S-P-F lumber I use mainly.

Even ripping is much less of a chore. It’s sharp as a razor and so far (a few months’ use) cuts like new. It looks great. has wonderful balance. never binds. and leaves a smooth cut. I’ve read that the induction hardened teeth on these type of saws cannot be sharpened.

I don’t know that’s absolutely true but even if it is, to buy another isn’t going to break the bank. I’m amazed the Sharptooth isn’t more expensive because it’s twice the performer of other saws I own in its price range.

All in all – an excellent product at an excellent price.

I have only used the saw a couple of times. Starting the cut was pretty easy and the cut was reasonably smooth. The handle was not a comfortable as I would like. I only plan to use this when rough cutting boards so it will do what I need done.

If you’re looking for good chisels and don’t want to break the bank, look no further. These chisels as very well made, comfortable to use, and won’t break the bank. I did, however, have to hone a few to get that razor sharpness, but it didn’t take long for them to be carving away.

Three years ago I inherited my father’s woodshop equipment. Making some things the family ordered, I needed some chisels. Using my chisels, I fell in love with hand tools. I’ve progressed to needing a solid workbench to replace my rickety plywood bench.

Tackleing through mortises in my 4 1/4″ top was time consuming but I made it! I now have a solid, indestructable, solid oak and walnut Bench. Nobody has has a better bench or set of chisels.

This set of Chisels is of the type I was looking for and at a price I was comfortable with. They are well made and the pouch helps to keep them protected and the sharp edges away from being bumped accidentally.

The challenge is they need sharpened right out of the box. They haven’t been very well protected in the mfg. process. The edges have been bumped and dinged. I knew this prior to purchase and have the ability to put the edge on them I desire.

Similar styles with good edges cost a hundred to three hundred more. The pouch doesn’t roll up well, but it hangs nicely on a wall. Made in England.

I was very impressed with the quality of this 6 pc. wood carving set. The tools were sharp enough to use right out of the package. With a little honing the edge is great. The handles were comfortable in my hands and I was certainly impressed that they were real wood instead of the usual plastic.

This would be a great starter set for someone thinking about getting into wood carving. The variety of tools is a great place to start. As a former Industrial Arts teacher I would certainly consider using these with my students as I think that they would hold up well to woodshop classroom use.

I starting using this set of carving tools about a week ago. I am not a great carver but do use carving tools from time to time. The first thing I noticed about this carving set is the blades were all very sharp.

I have had other carving tools that need to be sharpened right out of the box. These tool were sharp right from the start. I also liked the size and shape of these tools. The handle just feel right. I can safely say I would recommend these carving tools to any one who needs or wants to carve.

I’ve always wanted to try my hand at wood carving and this set of carving tools from Stanley were an inexpensive way to get started. In terms of fit and finish, these tools are only fair, the edge grind is a little rough as is the shaping.

I found the edges unusable out of the box but after some shaping and honing the tools performed adequately. The handles are nicely turned but a little on the small side for my average sized hand. All in all, I feel these tools represent a reasonable value for the hobbyist wanting to give wood carving a try.

Just be advised that the edges will need some work before they can be used.
