Would have rated negative three stars if available. Does not hold a sheet of sandpaper. Locking mechanism is inefficient. Bag meant to hold sanding dust doesn’t work at all. Horrible waste of money. Should have known not to buy a cheap product.

My fault. But don’t do it.

Pretty handy little sander. I needed it for corners and edges when sanding my stairs to repaint. It got the job done. It had the power to get the paint off an was great value. It’s just little smaller than the regular palm sanders so if you have a tiny detailed job you may want something a little smaller than this but saying that it got all the corners I needed.

This Bosch, is great quality sander. It has a fairly quiet motor and it doesn’t buzz my hand, too much, with long use. I’ve seen a couple reviews, where people were complaining about having the edges frayed and had to cut, etc.

well, these people are inexperienced, at best and are working the tool, too hard and pressing it at an angle. Just lay it flat and let the sander to the work. You don’t need to put hardly any pressure on the tool, just hold it firmly but let it glide over the surface.

You paid money for the thing, so let it so the work for you and it will last you a long time, with no issues. Love the dust collector and the fact that it has a shop vac attachment, for even a cleaner method.

Really happy with this sander, it’s solid.

We purchased this to refinish our dining table top. We found the sander to be efficient and easy to handle. An earlier review was critical of the dust catcher, but ours worked very well. We did the sanding indoors and saw only a little dust on the table.

Perhaps it has been re-designed; it was not an issue for us. My only negative comment is the expense of additional sanding pads.

I needed a new palm sander as the disk bearing on my old one wore out. Didn’t want to spend a lot of money as all I really needed it for was to sand some sand paint from the walls of a closet. I mean who puts sand paint walls? Any who this sander worked great, not only was it low priced compared to others but its pretty powerful.

I have a few summer projects that will require sanding surfaces, and I saw that this item was on sale at Walmart, so I jumped on it right away. I just tested on a small surface, and it worked as expected.

Make sure to buy extra sandpaper disks with different grit numbers.

Seems to work and look as good as a new one. Time and use will tell. You just don’t get the nice new original Makita box and packaging that you’ll most likely throw away anyway. The plastic case is nice with this one, it actually holds my 1/4 sheet sander also, along with the orbital.

Looks like they designed it that way. I’ve had no issues with numerous reconditioned Makita tools from CPO over the years.

I’ve been searching a long time for a good quality solar light for my home’s decorative tile street address number sign, and I’ve finally found it. I wanted a light with good build quality, be relatively small, be solar powered, and be reasonably priced.

This light meets all these requirements. Now, my home will be easily found by emergency personnel at night. The light can be setup to operate in one of three modes: 1) Green indicator – the light is dimly on (20 lumens) throughout the entire night.

When the light detects motion, it shines more brightly (250 lumens) for some 37 seconds before returning to dim lighting. I tried this mode, but found that the dim light mode was not bright enough to adequately light my home’s street address number sign.

Since this was my primary reason for using the light I did not use this mode. 2) Blue indicator – the light is normally off. When the light detects motion, it turns on very brightly (330 lumens) for some 37 seconds before turning off.

I did not use this mode, because I wanted the light to always be on throughout the night to light my home’s street address sign. 3) Red indicator – always on mode. Bright light of 80 lumens during the first 5 hours after dusk, then a dimmer light of 40 lumens for the following 5 hours.

This was the best mode of operation for my needs since the light was on throught the night lighting my home’s street address sign. Also the brightness levels of 80 and 40 lumens were just right to allow the sign to be easily visible from the street.

This has been my primary sander for years, and I’m very happy with it. Dust extraction when hooked to the shop vac is really good, pigtails aren’t an issue. It makes quick work of my furniture projects.

It’s no Mirka, but the bang for the buck is absolutely there.

I read lots of reviews before purchasing this sander. Several reviews mentioned that the dust collection bag wouldn’t attach properly, that the switch malfunctioned or that the sander became hot during prolonged sanding.

I am pleased to report that I haven’t experienced any of these problems so far – and I’ve been doing quite a bit of sanding. This seems like a good, solid, no-frills orbital sander for the price. I do have a few minor complaints, but for the price I still felt the sander warranted a five star review: 1.

The dust collection bag works, but it doesn’t take long to clog and stop being effective – long before the bag is even partially full. I find it easy to unclip, but because there is a spring inside (to help it keep it’s shape), its not the easiest to clean.

I usually remove the spring, invert the bag and then turn on the sander and use the airflow to blow out the bag (presuming my compressor is not close by). I’ve also used the bag with the spring removed – seems to work just as well.

The airflow makes the bag keep its shape. I’m debating whether just to keep it out permanently for ease of use. I did find it tough to put the dust collection piece on initially – maybe that’s why others had it fall off.

To get it on properly, I took the bag off and placed the piece on a flat surface, pressing the sander onto it. Just be careful not to press to hard and break something. 2. The sander makes some odd noises sometimes – especially if the bag is clogged.

I even worried the motor was going to die for awhile, but many hours of sanding later it’s still going strong. 3. The switch is covered in a flexible rubber membrane. Sometimes when I’m wearing gloves it’s hard to turn the machine on.

Other reviewers mention the switch sometimes not working – maybe this is what they are experiencing? To be clear the switch is working, it’s just that it can be hard to push in all the way.

After pondering between this model and the one without variable speeds, I decided to pay the extra $20 and go with this one. I’m glad I did! I bought this with the goal of refinishing a wood banister that had been covered in polyurethane, my goal was to get it down to bare wood so I could paint/stain it.

I am female, and this was the first handheld power tool i’d ever used beyond a basic drill! There was almost no setup involved, and the sander felt very durable and easy to hold. I was able to find a variety of different sanding discs that will work with it, too.

While using the sander, I had no problems whatsoever. At first, I only used the lower speeds out of fear of losing control, but it turned out I was worrying over nothing. Even at top speed, one hand will keep you on track (although I advise using two, and both hands will fit around it quite well.

) I was even able to control it enough to sand the 1/2″ sides! The lower speed was very useful when I used 60-grit discs to take off the initial layer. The wood was warm but nothing was uncomfortably hot.

The material came off reasonably quickly and without much trouble – the banister had rounded edges and a wide, flat surface, and to date there is no evidence I used a power sander! The random orbit kept everything smooth and even.

There was some dust left on the floor and floating in the air, but the attached bag did catch a great deal of the mess. I had been skeptical of changing out the pads, since some people have complained about the velcro, but I had no issues.

Just be sure to hold the pad close to the sander as you pull it off, much like you’d remove a painful Bandaid. Now that my project is completed, I can’t wait to find other uses for this sander. When you’re done, it fits right back in the bag, ready to go again anytime!.

I chose this model for its compact size in spite of 2 year old reviews which complained that the dust bag attachment comes off during use. I hoped that problem had been fixed. Either it has not or this model had been in inventory a long time! The vibration causes the bag attachment to separate from the sander body often within seconds of starting the tool.

After using the sander for a couple of hours holding the bag on by hand, I decided that I liked the sander and put a tiny screw on each side of the attachment. Problem solved. It is hard to believe that such a simple problem exists on a tool by Porter-Cable!.

This sumbitch eats! Nice, flat pad, very litte vibration for a sander. If I had a complaint it would be that it eats sandpaper quickly. But, It also sands like a dream. I huess it goes with the territory.

I replaced a Black and Decker 1/4 sheet sander that I’ve had for years with this. The difference is phenomenal. Definitly recommend.

Unfortunately this supposedly Dewalt reconditioned tool arrived with an immediately obvious defect: mis-shapened/bent sandpaper retaining spring clips. Once sander was switched on, vibrations from its running motor loosened clips and they would not retain the 1/4 sheet of sandpaper.

Sandpaper was freed within seconds. I am returning the unit for full credit and shipping costs, to which CPO did not hesitate to agree. I commend them on supporting the return, but fault Dewalt QC for failing to pick up on this immediately visible flaw.

I am not likely to buy a Dewalt tool again. I have bought other reconditioned tools from CPO and they have performed satisfactorily, it is the manufacturer not CPO whom I fault.

I’ve owned this Orbital for over a year now. I use it with Diablo sanding pads. It works well for all my projects and the variable speed is great. Not too heavy so you don’t press too hard on wood or coated projects, and works reliably.

The dust bad is easy to clean with a vacuum, and there is really little or no maintenance to it. I have a M18 Milwaukee Orbital I haven’t used yet because this one is still my preferred tool of choice going strong.

I just know how it acts and the results I’ll get from it. Easy to control, especially with the side handle, and the storage case is perfect. The handle really makes a difference. All in all, it should last a long time even with my rough use and was well built which is why I chose this one over others.

I have zero complaints and only praise.

I bought this primarily because my cheap sander’s dust collection was a joke and I needed to do some sanding inside. I was going to buy the Ryobi after being very impressed with their orbital sander, but reviews convinced me to spend more on the DeWalt instead.

I wish I had gone with the Ryobi, quite frankly. While this feels solidly built and has some nice features (ease of loading the sandpaper compared to cheaper models, great ergonomics), the dust collection is very disappointing.

The dust bag never fills up at all and most of it ends up in the air, whereas my Ryobi random orbital sander has superb dust collection. Perhaps sheet sanders are inherently weaker in this area than random orbit sanders, I don’t know.

But I bought this hoping for good dust collection and for what I got, I could have paid much less for a cheaper model and been at least as happy.

Not the Dewalt quality I have trusted for years. Less than 100 hours I had one fail due to broken plastic jamming the oscillating weight. And another started acting like it was not getting steady power.

I opened machines to ensure no debris or dust and verified no obstruction. Didnt bother to return because of the return policies with Lowes on dewalt tools.

Low noise and low vibration. High quality loop and hook pad. Feels like quality in the hand. A small amount of dust escapes but a vacuum hooked up would solve it. 1yr warranty should be 3yrs +. Can’t foresee problems but peace of mind with 3yrs would be better.

I got this combo for much less in store special so I’m pleased. Didn’t need the sheet sander so have it for sale. If variable speed is needed then look elsewhere but this suits my needs.

4 stars because I have not had the opportunity to use it as of yet. It looks exactly like the picture on-line so I am rating it based on the construction of the product not the functionality.

Just bought this, used it for 4-5hrs. It did the job and sanded well and took water stains out of wood. The unit was easy to set up, price was right and quality seems well made. However, there is fine dust powder EVERYWHERE.

Dust catch bag is attached firmly, but the dust/fine powder seems to come out from the unit and blow everywhere. Fine for working outside, but not inside which is an issue as I have a lot more interior work to do.

How do I fix this other than covering everything in the house with plastic/tarps like Dexter?? Please help. This is my main issue and prevents a higher rating.

The good: It is VERY quite and smooth. It is easy to load the paper. The dust bag has a positive attachment lock. The storage bag is nice. Personally I prefer a hard case. The bad: The platen is not flat.

Only the corners of the sand paper touch the work. Based on the parts diagram, it is a design flaw. When the platen is attached by the single center screw it pulls down on the center and warps it. How to fix it: Remove the platen, and insert a 3/64 inch thick washer under the ball bearing (#52 on the parts diagram) When reassembled the platten will be flat and there will still be enough pressure on the feet that hold up the platen (part #13 in the parts diagram) So, why try and fix it? One word, frustration.

In search of a replacement 1/4 sheet sander I have now purchased four different sanders (three different brands) that all had warped platens. The three I returned could not be corrected.

I purchased the DeWalt DWE6411 1/4 Sheet Sander kit as a companion to my DeWalt DWE6423K random orbital sander for use in variety of home remodeling projects. I have used the DWE6411 regularly for months and it has worked well.

The shape of this sander and the rubber covering make it comfortable for your hand when using it for long periods. It is lightweight and compact, allowing it to get into tight spaces, and the attached dust collection bag does a decent job.

The paper clamp is easy to use and holds the sandpaper securely. The paper punch that is included with the kit makes it easy to punch holes into any standard sandpaper to allow for dust collection. This is a dependable sander and I do recommend it.

Received from Amazon Canada July 20,2021 Ran it for about an hour. Super happy! July 26,2021 after preparing wood stock for project I got out my brand new sander with a great DeWalt enthusiasm, which lasted about 3 minutes when the sanding disc flew off !!! I vacummed the pad and the back of the sanding disc.

Nope. I the tried a new sanding disc. Lasted a minute and it flew off ! Everything else about this tool was 100 per cent. Tried contacting support by email and it was undeliverable. No helpful human contact, it seems, if you have a problem.

Very disappointed. Research says the pad is worn out, so replace it. How can a brand new pad be worn out? Thank goodness I have 90 days to return it if not 100 per cent satisfied. My question is how could a brand name like DeWalt not rectify a problem like this before putting it out in the marketplace.

I bought the DeWalt 8 1/4″ jobsite compact table saw last year and it’s a super tool. A sander is a useless tool if doesn’t hold a sanding disc.

This is third purchase of this model of sander for various friends and members of the family. Why? Because it is an excellent product. Has the option of pad or cut sheet abrasive and does and excellent job as a general purpose sander.

Best to buy quality abrasive and let the tool do the work. Hard pressure is not required. Generally like Makits as a brand and have a number of their products, which have all proved excellent.

So I bought this for the restoration of a couple of old victorian panelled doors, so nothing too taxing and with the right sanding pads it rapidly removed all traces of paint and gave a very smooth surface for repainting.

The Velcro backed Makita pads stuck like glue to the sander and were a bit hard to remove so they stayed put – don’t know if this will last. It is noisy/loud but that’s to be expected and there is little vibration felt in the hand so very comfortable to use.

Did not use the small dust collection bag but had it attached to a vac and there was little dust to speak of so the small holes below seemed to be enough to remove wood dust.

This is excellent apart from the ability to source spare sanding sheets in the correct size. The sander is reasonably priced for the quality and combined with large battery will last for ages with no cord getting in the way.

Build quality and power are good but limited aftermarket availability of sanding sheets makes they expensive in the long run – basically beyond one project. The ryobi sheets are overpriced, if you can get them.

I cant understand why B&Q stock this sander and not the ryobi sanding sheets or anything else in the correct size! Thats a real oversight as I paid a reasonable price for the sander and probably would have spent twice that on sanding sheets by now.

People wonder why the high street is loosing out to internet retailers. Another plus for online sourcing of tools and accessories :-(.

Bought this cordless sander to add to my Ryobi One+ kit. I was not disappointed. It fits neatly into my hand, it’s powerful (using a 1. 7Ah battery) and has produced very good finishes on a variety of types of wood i have used it on so far.

Now waiting on a compact Ryobi drill driver coming to enhance my tool selection even more.

We bought this sander from our local B&Q and I wish I had checked the reviews. As with other reviewers, the motor burnt out within 3 days. We can not find the receipt so we have lost our money. If you are reading this I hope it is before you bought this ‘not fit for purpose sander.

This is the first random orbital sander I’ve ever trued out, so I have no other similar equipment to compare it to. I needed one fora project I’m on, Harbour Freight was the first store I went to. This sander is just the right size for the size of my hands.

I like the fact that it has a long electrical cord and variable speed 1- 5. It is easy to control and is not too loud. I was able to compare prices with similar orbital sanders, and the price was right.

Once I got it home and had some practice time with it, I felt I bought the exact random orbital sander I was looking for. I’m extremely glad I purchased this product.

My Dewalt has served me well for almost 20 years but a few weeks ago I went to use it and the Pad just disintegrated. I have a few Hercules tools already and while I would have preferred the cordless orbital sander, there were none to be found, so I purchased the AC powered one.

The good news is that all my existing supply of sanding disks work fine (8-Hole) and the sander works quite well. Have only used it a few times since purchasing it so while it feels good and looks good, I can’t honestly comment on the Quality and Durability.

So far I like it. The dust collector is quite nice.
