Best Halloween Read Alouds For 1St Grade (2024 Updated)

We love Sandra Boynton books, and with Halloween coming up we decided to add this to our collection. It’s very cute, and if you like Sandra Boynton’s style, this is another great one to have!

We love all these books so naturally had to try out the Halloween one. Super cute! Our toddler will absolutely love it come Halloween time.

My 2 yr old like this book. He likes to put his face in the hole. I recommend all books from this author.

My 8 year old grandson read most of it to me. He read it with such enthusiasm which I liked because he enjoyed reading it. The pictures and illustrations were awesome. Cute book. I would definitely recommend it.

The book itself is great as I expected. However it did come bent in half and now has a horrible bend in the book. trying to flatten out but do not hold much hope. Good book to read with a 3 year old!

Such an fun mix of kid friendly Halloween themed stories. I can’t believe how big this book is for the price. I was expecting a thin paperback book but it’s a full size, hard cover book with colorful pictures.

Reminds me of the books I had as a kid. I’m so glad I bought this for my five year old daughter. She loves everything Halloween and now we have a book to read throughout the season. I’m considering buying a few more as gifts for the price.

This book is really fun for bedtime. The stories are not ones that you will have heard over and over but are enjoyable. They have beautiful illustrations of some of the best Disney characters. My little boy enjoys picking his story from the list.

One of the best children’s books written. Not only does it look at the history of Halloween but also helps children make sense of life and death. The ending is beautiful and poetic. The whole book, wonderfully illustrated, is a tribute to holidays, childhood and love for friends.

Beautiful edition of Ray Bradburys classic on friendship, youth, nostalgia, and history. Halloween throughout the ages and its meaning to different cultures. Joseph Mugnainis delightful art adds just the right amounts of creeps, mystery, and fun.

My kids love it. They are 8 and 10. It is a rhyming book so it is east to read and flows very well. I highly recommend it. Also its got enough monster jargon to be a Halloween story but nothing so scary that it would cause nightmares.

I purchased them for our grandchildren that will be spending time with us during October and then we spend Halloween with them. Books let us carry on several generations worth of gathering to read books to the younger of the grandchildren along with bonding, sharing and loving.

Can’t get any better than this.

I can not get my 7 year old som to stop re reading this book. He loves it.

My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter also loves loves books. She will take a book over a toy. Y’all have the greatest selections to choose from. 🖒

Very cute little book. It was well worth the price, and my 6 month old Grandson loves these books.

Not really about Halloween just about costumes

Dr. Seuss’s books are an entertaining source of getting children to enjoy reading. Intriguing pictures add to the linguistic appeal. This particular edition of the book is colorful and sturdy.

Fun read because my niece likes halloween year round. Perfect condition.

My youngest granddaughter (2 years old) has memorized Llama Llama Red Pajama and Llama Llama Gram and Grandpa. She requests multiple readings by her mother. I purchased this book for her Trick-or-Treat gift.

I read the book to her several times during the last few days and today at nap time, she read the book to me.

I was shocked when I read this Llama book in comparison to other Llama books that made me a fan. The illustrations are great.

This was a purchase for my first grade niece, who upon seeing pics on the back of a llama llama Easter book pointed at the halloween one and said “I want that one”. I love that it’s an easy read for her but still challenging enough to keep her thinking.

Each princess gets a page and its Halloween themed. I like how its a lot of writing per page, not a 2 sentence page kinda book. Id recommended for older kids. Second grade and up.

This book is better than I could imagine. I am absolutely excited to add this to our fall Collection

I ordered this book because it was a favorite of my kids, grandkids, and classroom kids. There have been so many times the phrase “with a light, a rope, and a ladder” from this story fits in a conversation in a funny situation.

Now I get to read to my great-grandson. Lucky me!.

Bought this book as I was read it as a child and wanted to do the same for my kids. Upon delivery I remembered that I used to find it terrifying, and my children do the same. Not a nighttime book for my kids, but a daytime book that we refer to when dealing with overcoming fears.

Good repetitive story that my three year old enjoys trying to read too. Although not before bed! Nostalgic.

My son had to have this book for his birthday. I had missed when it was on sale in store but was able to find it online in stock. It shipped quickly and arrived just in time for his party. He’s a huge peppa pig fan.
