20 Best Hair Products For Men With Thinning Hair (2023 Updated)

I must say that I was disappointed with this product. I used a pea sized amount, thinned it out with a splash of water on my hands and ran it through towel dry hair and proceeded to style. When everything finally dried I felt like I had a bit of a hair helmet.

And when I broke things up a bit, my hair just felt clumpy. and brushing it out seemed to destroy the overall styling. I tried it twice and threw it away.

I just bought two more bottles. I would have purchased the Invanti scalp revitalizing shampoo but it was out of stock. I like the fact that this product makes my hair feel a bit thicker but I have no idea if, absent use of the accompanying shampoo that it works long term.

For such an expensive product, I think that Aveda could include separate product description and use instructions. For instance, as a FAQ, will this product work, if I don’t use it with the Invanti Shampoo? Is if fine to use with the other Aveda products that I do use but are not targeted for hair thickening? Of do I continue purchases on a hope and a wish?.

I was excited to try this line for men, but I’ve found a few issues that I’d like to point out for other guys who want to be “in the know. ” First, I purchased the full-sizes of both shampoo and Scalp Revitalizer.

The smell of both are just fine, and do have that “Aveda-ish” scent. Thankfully, it doesn’t linger or compete with any fragrance/cologne you may be wearing. Upon inspecting the ingredient list of the Scalp Revitalizer when it arrived, the very first ingredient is ALCOHOL! I did a double-take as usually there’s Water/Aqua first on these types of products, but alcohol?! I called Aveda, and pointed this out and was told that it is in fact correct and that the alcohol is derived from corn.

Not sure if that makes a difference or not, but alcohol is in fact the very first ingredient. Next, the consistency of the Scalp Revitalizer isn’t too bad. it can feel slightly tacky as you work it through your scalp, but nothing that would make me not use the product.

It does seem to leave portions of my hair “dry” feeling. I don’t much care for the applicator tip because it’s hard to tell when it’s actually coming out and hitting the scalp. I find that I wind up with more product at the top and back of my head than in the front.

I wish a spray-like mechanism for this bottle was incorporated rather than a tip very similar to what you’d find on a glue bottle. Finally, and most importantly, the claims of this product (and the shampoo) are based on the fine print of: “Due to breakage in a clinical test of the invati men™ system after 12 weeks.

†In a 12-week consumer test. ” Hair breakage is NOT hair loss. For most men, hair loss is far more of a pressing matter than breakage. Hair breakage happens from over-processing hair, too much product, braiding of hair (women), tangled hair that isn’t brushed properly, etc.

To tell the difference, if the hair you are seeing fall out has jagged or frayed ends, that’s breakage. If the strands have the root still attached the hair shaft, you have hair loss. Hair loss is the biggest concern for us guys.

While the Aveda Invati system DOES thicken my hair (instantly/cosmetically), I would rather use a system that addresses hair LOSS, and not BREAKAGE as outlined in the clinical tests which the marketing of this product is heavily based on.

The unisex version of the invati scalp revitalizer has a pump applicator the dispenses a consistent amount and distributes it evenly. The men’s version is impossible to measure and distribute with any consistency.

You’re supposed to squeeze the bottle and draw three lines on your scalp. Depending on how hard you squeeze and how fast you draw the lines you can get a different amount with each application. Worse, the tip develops buildup that clogs little by little.

It dispenses far less after the bottle is half empty. By the time I get to the end of the bottle I’m scraping out the buildup. So even if you could squeeze the bottle and draw the lines on your scalp consistently, the amount applied would still vary.

The only recourse is to open the tip only part way (this much, or that much?) and estimate how much you think you need. But even after many months of use, it’s still trial and error. I don’t drench my scalp as often as I used to, but it shouldn’t be a gamble on a product that’s this expensive.

The dispenser is the worst aspect of any Aveda product that I’ve ever used. It’s a bad joke.

Love! I use this daily now since receiving it in the mail. Truly thickens hair. It doesn’t leave hair oily feeling, but I try to avoid putting too much at the root in the back of my head to be safe. I pair this with the texture spray, but it is good on its own for every day use.

My (straight) hair is still able to hold a curl, too.

Smells minty fresh! Its my husband’s but I use it on my hair. It smells so good! I absolutely love this product and I use it right after the shower with damp hair. It helps with detangling. After I blow dry my hair it looked the best it had looked in ages.

This product is great for both men and woman’s hair! I LOVE all redken products they are fantastic.

actually does what it says it does. I can see and feel my hair become thicker after using this. This is my favorite thickening product!

I have experienced a trauma that has caused medical related hair loss too. I bought this shampoo, conditioner & hair tonic. I followed it exactly as indicated for 8wks. I have also been on a medical vitamin regiment.

I reordered these 3 products for a second round. There was 1-2 weeks in between 1st & 2nd round. I do not know if these products alone or these products with the vitamin regiment is what is helping, but I can tell an improvement.

My hair stylist has confirmed the same. I have been out of the 2nd round for 2-3 weeks. I am now ordering a 3rd round. I have remained on the vitamin regiment. I kind of think it has been the combination of both, but I do not know that for certain.

However, I am continuing as is in hopes of overcoming the medical related hair loss.

I’ve been faithful to this product for over two years now. My hair was so bad. I was at the point of devastation with my thinning hair. My part was so wide and breakage in the sink everyday. After three to six months of using this shampoo, I noticed all these brand new hairs sticking up from scalp when my hair was in a ponytail.

I was confused at first but then I realized. this shampoo was working!! Now, after over two years of use, my hair is transformed. Thank God I found this product!! People have noticed! I will continue use of this shampoo and other Paul Mitchell Shampoos.

I’ve used this shampoo and conditioner for about six months now. I usually shampoo only once a week due to the fact that my hair is dry and damaged. I usually follow up with the Anti-Thinning Conditioner.

The root lift foam product is a waste of money and a temp fix. I’m really not seeing much of a difference in the thickness of my hair. I bought this as m standard go-to and I wasn’t expecting much. As a backup, I also started taking a very popular hair growth supplement.

The effects of that takes time, but at the end of the day once the hair has grown out of our scalp it is dead. There is nothing much that you can do from that point on. This shampoo doesn’t smell bright and fresh like the others.

It smells like cookies and spices which throws me off. I think the entire Paul Mitchell line should be sulfate free. They need to include far more botanical extracts and less of these chemicals. If your shampoo can’t transform black hair into silky smoothness, its no better than the stuff at the big box store.

My go-to product. Smells great, like citrus. Has a really high hold, and the customer service with this company is outstanding. I get an XL version of this product shipped every 7-8 weeks and it never disappoints and always keeps me looking good.

Highly recommend to anyone with hair.

Its hard to believe that a product like this can actually work. I typically assume that anything that claims it will give you thicker hair is snake oil. I have used several Nioxin products in the past that produced minor results, however, this stuff here blew my expectations out of the park.

I used this along side the matching hair thickening shampoo and fell completely in love. My hair has never ben so thick and manageable. No more falling flat and having that one weird piece sticking straight up.

This stuff is expensive. no doubt about it. In reality you need 1 maybe two pumps, I have been using this daily for about 10 days and have not even put a dent in the bottle yet. The cost brakes out to maybe 25cents a day if even.

I highly recommend to anyone looking to add real volume and have their hair feel thicker and be more manageable.

The smell is amazing- light but not overpowering. I am sensitive to fragrance but this does not bother me. Every time I use it my spouse comments on the love of the scent. Overall this product works really nice.

I don’t like to add to much to my thick hair as normal products leave my hair greasy and heavy. The Kerastase left no build up and increased shine which held for days after blow drying and straightening.

I tried leaving in overnight before blow drying and blow drying right away. Although results were better blow drying right away. Waiting still gave good results. As someone who suffers from bouts of alopecia related to illness I look forward to seeing how continued use impacts my hair strength.

I’m actually really bummed about this. I was torn between this, and the flax seed aloe gel. I wish I had ordered the gel instead. I have fine, curly hair that’s pretty damaged from me using a Revlon blow out brush/dryer on it for a year.

The nutriplenish products I use have likely been the only thing keeping my hair on my head at this point. So now, I have a ton of breakage, and I’m wearing my hair curly, which has been a challenge. Breakage, plus Virginia humidity = the struggle.

The curl cream is AMAZING, and I use that, but I needed something that will take this mess until is grows out and gets healthier again. This spray didn’t do that. It turned my hair into a rats nest, and I had to use a lot of product to achieve any progress, which was minimal.

I knew it was either this, or the gel. I have used the aveda curl gelee before and adored it, but I’m taking it easy on the pricing so decided to either this hairspray, or the flax seed aloe gel. I think if it weren’t for the breakage and damage I’m currently fighting, this would work great.

I made the switch to exclusively aveda products last august and haven’t looked back. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s an investment. This product sadly just won’t get any use from me. If you have fine, damaged, curly hair and you’re debating this or a gel.

get the gel. I don’t live anywhere near an aveda salon or store, so I don’t have the benefit of being able to return to a store or get a recommendation from an employee. Still an aveda loyal, and a rewards member, but won’t be purchasing this again.

I found the spray very drying. My hair looked like straw and was frizzy. especially the under hair. I have fairly wavy/light curl hair that is not dyed and is in good condition. I used the Aveda Curl Enhancer and when my hair was dry I sprayed as directed.

I’ve used it three times with the same results each time. I’m extremely disappointed that I wasted so much money as it will go in the garbage. Maybe the good reviews are from places with higher humidity but that’s not Alberta in the winter.

As an aside another thing that annoyed me with Aveda online was that I never could use the first time purchase code because the system wouldn’t accept it.

I have used almost every product that AVEDA has produced from the late 1980’s to date. I tried new ones like Be Curly Creme (dried my hair out) and Nurtiplenish line etc( not a fan) and I always go back to the BRILLIANT LINE.

I have naturally curly fine hair that is highlighted at a Aveda salon. I have a lot of it but it is getting drier now as I am over 60 and the natural greys and whites in my hair have become very unruly.

I had tried everything Aveda had new on the market to get my curl back and tame those wild ones. WE are talking seriously dry and fly! I do not blow dry nor use a curling iron or any heat on my hair.

It was flat frizzy and horrible! “Who’s hair is this?” , I asked myself. Several people said to just accept it as it is the aging process. After almost giving up I remembered DEEP PENETRATING REVITALISING CONDITIONER and BRILLIANT STYLE CREME were always my “go to” when I had a problem.

Well the former has been discontinued but thankfully NOT the Brilliant CReme! And one use and WOW – I am back curls and all. Please promise not to dicontinue , change or alter in any way the BRILLIANT line.

Also the HUMECTANT Pomade has always my friend as it fattens up my curl and makes it bouncy and shiny! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

This very expensive product fell short. It does absolutely nothing. It’s a thick, BAD smelling oil that I can’t tell I’ve put any product on my hair after using it. Definitely a way overpriced bottle of oil.

It’s like the KM shampoos and conditioners…. nothing special about it and see no results and will not buy again. I will stick with Doo Over, Session Spray and the detangler spray. I’ve tried about every single KM product since my hair stylist only uses this brand and it’s only 3 products that I’ll buy out of all of them.

I am obsessed with Kevin Murphy products!! They smell incredible and work miracles on my color-treated hair. My stylist recommended a value set last winter with the Hydrate-me Wash and Rinse and this treatment oil was basically free.

Using these products together for the past 8 months has completely changed my hair. I get my dark blonde hair colored every 6 weeks and this regimen has made my hair soft, shiny (which is HARD for color-treated blonde hair), and almost no frizz.

My hair is about 6-8” past my shoulders and thick so I only wash it 3x a week. I use 5-6 pumps on my towel-dried hair before blow drying and its super lightweight but nourishing and smells like monoi (Tahitian gardenia).

I’m still on my first bottle after 8 months so it’s a pretty great value for how well it works.

This is the best hair product I have ever used, the bottle is small but you only need a dime amount so it will last you a very long time. This is the best smelling hair product I’ve ever used and it has made my hair healthier than it’s ever been!! I use this the night before I shower and right after I shower when my hair is still wet and I will forever use this!! I 1000% recommend!!.

I have a bone to pick with Redken. I think I speak for many loyal customers when I say, you stopped making the REDKEN #Waterwax3 and rebranded it for MEN. Girls, if you check out Redken Brews WAX POMADE (not clay or cream) BUT WAX POMADE, you will see that it looks identical to the WATER WAX 3! This product was the ONLY product that would work by texturizing my waves/curls.

I loyally used this product for the better part of 10 years. Noe, while I get there are many curl products for women, and men need products too. , I begrudgingly am buying a MENS HAIR WAX PRODUCT for the lack of a replacement of the Water Wax 3.

I just wish the “Marketing Folks” at Redken would have been an loyal to their female customers as they are their “bottom line” $$&. I don’t mind using a mens product but it just took me A YEAR to run out of my #Waterwax and find a good replacement.

I am a fanatic about finding great hair styling products. I like strong hold, but not rock hard. I like flexibility that also keeps your hair styled throughout the day. This was a great choice for what I was looking for.

Easy to wash out, smells nice and easy to rub into your hands to shape that hair. I have hair that’s short on the sides and long on top (long part is pushed to one side). Cool branding/packaging too.

I was using the Redken manuver wax for years. Loved that product. This one does have as strong of a hold, has more shine, and doesn’t smell as good, albeit it doesn’t smell bad. It is fine for short hair, but if you use it on hair longer than approximately 2 inches, it won’t hold your hair very well without some other supplemental product.

I’ll finish using what I have but probably won’t buy again.

This hair oil is great! I have relaxed, textured hair. Not only does it smell refreshing, but it’s not heavy on my hair at all. The product doesn’t feel like it sits on my hair like other oils I’ve tried, but rather my hair absorbs it immediately after it’s applied.

My hair feels soft, moisturized, and shiny afterwards, and looks super healthy. I’ve never had a hair oil that does what this product does before, and I’ve struggled to find an oil-based product that I like, which ultimately lead me to avoid oil products.

This was a great purchase, and i will be purchasing this product again. Overall, I would highly recommend this oil.

LOVE this hair serum! I decided to splurge on this product after reading the reviews. Firstly, I have fine/thin/oily at the roots dry a the ends hair. Anything too heavy makes my fine hair look greasy, so I have to be careful which products I use.

I apply one pump of this to my hair after a shower it’s the perfect amount. I find when I use this, my hair dries much less frizzy (with less fly aways throughout the day). It smells AMAZING!! I even use it on the ends of my dry hair on non-shampoo days, just to tame the frizzies.

My hair has never looked healthier.

This review is mostly about Evan Alexander as a company. I’ve ordered beard products before and all of those keep my beard moisturized and looking great. Shipping is always fast and products arrive well packed and as described.

This is my first purchase of the growth oil and I’d really need to use it for at least 3 months before I can say it works for me. What I can say at this point is I purchased this oil specifically to use after weekly microneedling sessions (and once or twice more during the week).

I massage it in and it does leave my scalp feeling refreshed and I do like that it doesn’t leave my hair oily looking. My first impressions are this is going to be a good addition to my arsenal in helping to fill in my thin spots.

Every product is all natural so when I use them my skin and beard feel refreshed. I recommend getting the entire kit so that you see maximum benefits. Like they say, each product is like a piece of a puzzle.

For a puzzle (your beard) to be complete and look good, you need all of the pieces.

The product came to my home very quick. I’ve been using it for only a few days now so once I get results , I can give a much better review ! Timely manner is accurate though and the product smells great and feels great on the scalp.

I have been using this product for about 4-months and am just finished with my second bottle. Other than a slight cooling effect on my scalp, when applied after washing my hair, it has done absolutely nothing for my hair.

I follow the directions completely, applying to the scalp daily and gently massaging in, and have seen zero results. My hair is no fuller or thicker and is still brittle. I will use the third bottle and see if anything changes but I am not expecting anything at all.

I will update my review if needed. As for now, I would not buy this product again and would most certainly not recommend this product to anyone.

I was looking for something to help with my severe dry scalp the next step was to see a dermatologist. I went into ulta and this product was recommended. I have been using this product for about three months I just purchased my second bottle.

The first bottle lasted a long time. My scalp does not itch severely or flakes anymore.

This whole brand is incredible in all its aspects for its great quality among many other things I am dying to try the product sometime. All these products are highly recommended by many people and professionals including me for their great capacity, do not underestimate their great quality.

Wow!!! Just wow!!! My husband was getting very thin on top and was starting to feel self conscious about it. He’s been using this system for a few months now and I can’t believe how much regrow they he has! A lot of it is lighter than his original hair but it still makes a huge difference.

Overall, I would say he has 50% more hair than when he started. The shampoo and conditioner also make the rest of his hair fuller and have more body. We’re both so happy!.

my hairstylist recommended me this and my hair not only started growing but it made it thicker. I put this on and use a scalp massager to make sure it sinks in. it’s light weight. u don’t even feel like u have anything on when it dries.
