20 Best Hair Products For Low Porosity 4C Hair (2023 Updated)

i really wanted to like this but my hair (3a, fine/medium texture, thick, medium/ high porosity for anyone with similar hair wanting to try this) hates it. it makes my hair sticky, tangled (even after fully detangling??), greasy, and it doesn’t help with dryness or frizz.

this is my first purchase from tgin, and i’m pretty sure it will be my last. fyi, natural isn’t always better (poison ivy is natural, does that mean it’s good for you? nope) and literally everything is a chemical, even water.

don’t listen to false advertising and don’t think that “natural” is better for you. all you really need to stay away from is sulfates (unless you’re clarifying your hair or don’t have hard water), some types of alcohols (do your research, some “alcohols” are very moisturizing! also drying alcohols in low amounts helps with product penetration, so if it’s the close to some of the last ingredients, don’t freak out), essential oils and fragrance (can sometimes irritate the scalp and skin and companies don’t have to list the ingredients of the fragrance so you don’t know what’s in there, again if you can handle fragrance then keep using them) and non water soluble silicones (if you struggle with buildup and volume, if not then go crazy, silicones help with slip and keep the cuticle sealed to help with frizz and moisture loss).

i like this! definitely better for curlier, thicker hair. i have wavy hair; thin strands but a lot of it. it’s quite moisturizing and leaves your hair shiny, but i have to use less to avoid my hair becoming weighed down.

i would avoid if you have fine and thin hair as this is definitely not a weightless product. i ended up gifting one of my bottles to my little nieces and nephews who have 3c/4a curls and it works amazing on them! it makes quick work of tangles, reduces frizz, and helps with curl shrinkage.

i always keep some for whenever they visit. the smell is quite sweet rather than floral however.

This stuff works for low porosity hair. My oldest has hair that gets dry so easily. Her thick tight coils do so well with this conditioner, I do add a little oil in the winter to the conditioner and it really makes her hair soft and manageable.

My youngest has a bird’s nest of loopy, tangled curls. Both her roots and ends get matted and tangled. This conditioner softens up the ends and gives enough slip to detangle her hair down to the scalp.

I use this in the dead of New England winters for my roller sets. It’s so moisturizing my sets come out curly, soft, and defined. It was a great investment for our household.

I love this shampoo it smells so great and leaves my hair feeling soft. It’s a shame that I have to find another brand because the customer service sucks. I will not be spending my hard earned money where I am not treated respectfully.

I ordered my products in may and received it either later June early July and to me that’s unacceptable. It doesn’t matter if you’re running a promotion your customers should not be that inconvenienced.

And to top it off there isn’t a number to call because no one answers that number you find when you google the brand. The company doesn’t accommodate their customers when clearly they are at fault. How is it possible that after an entire 2 months items was still missing out of my order and they refused to give me a refund and only offered store credit.

Like do I look dumb to purchase from you again? Be aware Mielle is not a very trustworthy brand and their customer service is horrible. If you don’t mind waiting forever to get your products go ahead and order from them.

The white brands never leave you waiting this long because they understand the importance of their customers. Do better!.

This stuff is the bomb. com! I’m so impressed with the difference the collection of the pomegranate & Honey! It makes my hair so much easier to comb through with the leave in conditioner. I’m actually seeing hair growth since i started using these products a lot quicker then some other products that i have been using for over a year.

I purchased the Hawaiian ginger, the pomegranate, honey, and the one in the green bottle with the mint and biotin in it after one month of using the green bottle and the pomegranate honey I have hair growing around my edges that I had lost from wearing protective styles that was braided too tight.

I am a true believer. This is the holy grail of hair products I am so glad I made the change, thank you for your wonderful products. They truly do what they say.

This product nourishes my curls all day! Leaves my hair silky, so my curls are happy and voluminous all day (and I love the light, fresh rosewater smell). I typically struggle with products that either don’t fully get into my thick hair, or, last all day and leave residue, so very happy to find this conditioner.

I tried this product on 3 separate occasions and the last one nearly left me bald. I truly wanted this product to work especially since the price point is decent. The first time I thought maybe the shampoo may have left some residue which canceled out the slip, so I used a different shampoo (same for 2nd and 3rd try).

The results improved slightly on the 2nd try but took a turn for the worst on the 3rd try. As I smooth the conditioner through my hair the feels was different. I added water after I was done applying to give it a bit of slip.

I tried to run my fingers through my hair and I felt knots forming. No tool could navigate its way through the web that had been created and my hair was sticking to my fingers like velcro. I’m not sure what went wrong.

It may work better for others. The whole trial period I only used this collection.

I have a mixture of 3C/4A/4B high density hair. I fell in love the moment this touched my hair!! I originally ordered the honey mask but they were out and this was the replacement. This stuff melted into my strands, unlike other products that just sit right on top.

The slip?? Oh it’s AMAAAAAAZING!!! The only thing I don’t care for is the smell. I don’t like floral smells, but it’s not overpowering to the point of me not wanting to use. Buy this!! It’s just what your hair will need!!.

ive tried mane choice repair mask and the rosemary mint line from mielle organics and this dc has worked wonders for my low porosity type 4 hair! my hair has very low porosity to the point where my hair doesn’t get fully saturated under continuous hot/warm water for 10+ mins.

this mask penetrates and provides so much mositure and hydration for my hair! i tend to minimally detangle my hair in between way days bc i practice low manipulation styles, so i need a good dc that provides great slip and this does! a staple for me and i will always repurchase!.

I love love love this product!! I don’t have curly hair, just damaged from coloring and bleaching, and putting this on as a treatment every time I shampoo my hair has made a world of a difference. My hair always comes out soft, supple and with a lot more moisture than any other product I’ve ever used before.

This mask also has a lovely smell, and you can put dye into it as a faux color conditioner (the product itself is white). Overall I cannot recommend this product enough, and I will continue to purchase it over and over again!.

I don’t believe in perfect/miraculous product, there are a lot of gimmicky products out there that target our insecurities. But Shea Moisture’s daily hydration line (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in) is the best life line of products I have used in ages! I have tried Pantene, L’Oreal, Garnier, and more expensive shampoos like Redken and Function of Beauty.

They didn’t do anything for my hair that was dry. My Indian hair is slightly wavy and sometimes straight depending on what I use as well as the environmental factors (moisture, humidity, etc. ). There were stressful changes in my life, and along with a lot of other factors my hair started to change its texture.

My strands were drying up and they just didn’t look the same and luscious when I styled my hair. The wave patterns sometimes would seem more crinkled. I’d say it’s medium thickness. I don’t seek volumizing products, because they further dry up the hair.

I have short hair. I also have a bit of a sensitive scalp. And products made for scalps can also dry up the hair. I randomly picked up the travel size version of this shampoo. At first, I didn’t know what to think of it.

On later uses, I tried using a little more shampoo than before, I think that’s the trick. Usually, other shampoos are full of lathering agents such as sulfates (I don’t think it’s a bad thing), but this shampoo is more gentle, so more is needed for my hair to get it clean.

I usually don’t like gentle shampoos, because they can tangle up my hair. But this Shea Hydration shampoo was absolutely wonderful. It genuinely brought back the lusciousness in my hair that I was missing for months! I am not always a fan of the tropical/coconuty smell, but this scent is bearable.

It kind of smells like fresh coconut milk, not the stronger coconut oil smell. So it’s okay. I’d prefer the scent to be reduced, but honestly it doesn’t bother me as absolutely love how nourishing this product is.

I must say that while the shampoo & conditioner’s scent is all right, the leave-in conditioner is definitely way more scented, and it needs to be toned down. My ultimate opinion: PLEASE don’t change the formula of this shampoo like every other brand has been doing.

I have been using the Shea Moisture conditioner for approximately two weeks and was provided them by #trywithtopbox as a #freeproduct for my honest review. I have fine, thin, waist length hair that is naturally blonde starting to go grey, that is prone to split ends and I would describe as normal to oily.

I don’t wash it daily but every 2 to 3 days it’s just too much work to do daily. I used the conditioner as directed and found that my hair combed out fairly easily even while still wet which was great as it tends to tangle quite badly when I don’t use a good conditioner on it.

My hair was soft and shiny and manageable. The container for this feels slightly greasy when I handle it during use even after rinsing them off. The conditioner bottle uses a pump as a dispenser which is great but I couldn’t get the original one that came with the bottle to function.

I replaced it with one I had but I noticed that the thick conditioner dries and forms a plug that takes several pumps to force out. Overall I would say this was a good product that worked as advertised and if someone was looking to try this I would recommend it, I’m not sure if it is the best choice for me given the frequency with which I wash my hair.

The products have an incredible smell. My entire family loves them. I particularly love the low porosity shampoo but the leave in detangler had a nice slip to it and beautiful smell. I have extremely low porosity hair so sometimes even the low porosity leave in makes my hair feel weighed down.

That said, it does leaves my hair beautifully soft. That is a big struggle with low porosity hair since the hair shaft is always too tightly closed to get adequate moisture. Overall I’m very satisfied with the products and will be lying again.

Everyone member in my house uses this daily 6 of us. Our hair has very tight curls making it very difficult to comb. (African Americans). Whenever we use a few pea size drops on our hair it makes it so manageable and soft.

Three females and 3 males think the same. We have tried tons of detanglers and this has been the best on thus far. It has such a beautiful scent. Easy to disperse from bottle. The lotion is not sticky and does not leave flakes.

Now that I’ve tried the product for my natural hair, the curl enhancing did not work well. I looked at a video of a young lady using the product and she twisted strands of her hair to make it curl after wetting her hair and applying this product.

Her results were very nice curly locks, however, when I tried the exact same method, it did not work. Not achieving the curly results, I braided my hair with the product intact, and left the braids in for several days.

The look resulted in wavy, stringy strands of hair. Ok if you are satisfied with that look. Maybe my hair is too coarse, or I may try it again dividing my hair into smaller strands to see if it curls.

The product smell good, and it’s not too heavy on the hair. It was a good deal for two jars.

I had been looking for a deep hair conditioner for sometime now but didn’t want something that came in a jar. this bottle perfects dispenses the conditioner without requiring me to scoop it up with my hand.

The product is sulfate free which i was also seeking. it worked beautifully on my hair. I leave it in for 15-20 minutes and sometimes wrap a hotel towel around my head so the product penetrates the hair follicles.

Love how this product defines my curls without flaking or crunchiness! The gel has a light, clean smel which I like very much. However, the bottle is very stiff and it is hard to squeeze the product out.

A larger jar would be a better option. Also, a 16 ounce container option would be good.
