20 Best Hair Products For Dandruff And Dry Scalp (2023 Updated)

When I bought this shampoo (and the conditioner) I was really hoping it would show improvement for my hair. I have a decent amount of hair loss, and thought the products would help with that. Unfortunately, I have seen no difference.

Although ginger helps with dandruff, it should also help with hair thinning and hair growth. I used the shampoo and conditioner for a long period of time and no difference was made on my end. It is a decent shampoo and conditioner, but didn’t help with my hair thinning.

The smell isn’t overpowering in the ginger department and it lathers well. It’s just not for me. I would honestly recommend the banana hair mask. That product has done wonders for my hair. Ironically, I would consider my hair to be “combination.

” My scalp gets overly oily but the rest of my hair, especially my ends, are dry. With the mask, it comes out of the shower silky smooth, with no tangles WHATSOEVER. I also have the banana shampoo and conditioner, but have not had the opportunity to use those yet.

My 9-year-old has been going through some changes lately, and she started getting major dandruff. to the point where I had to call her doctor! Not only that, but certain parts of her hair (under her crown) started becoming oily.

I tried THREE different brands before trying this one (Honeydew, H&S, and Dove Dermacare Scalp Anti-Dandruff), only to be disappointed. I went through an entire bottle of each, just to get disappointed.

I came into this store and an employee told me that people love this shampoo for their dandruff. There was a sign that said “one bottle sold every four seconds. ” I figured. what the heck. I wasn’t gonna get my hopes up, but I’ll give it a try.

After 7 days, I finally noticed some change. There was still some flakes, but nowhere near as much as she normally does! On the 12th day. it’s pretty much cleared up! I can’t believe it. I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE DOESN’T HAVE ANY MORE FRIKKIN’ FLAKES! Not only that, but her scalp isn’t oily anymore, either! Her hair is normal again! I ordered 3 more bottles.

I want to make sure I’m always stocked up. because now, even my older daughter is enjoying it. She says her scalp isn’t itchy anymore!.

I have natural hair and really bad dandruff but now since using StopItt my dandruff has minimized. I ordered this off of amazon for about $12. 00 but it came in a pack of 6 I believe (I dont really remember because I ordered it so long ago, but I do remember that it was cheap) the only down side about this product is that it’s so thick and white so it turns your hair white but after it’s all absorbed in it doesn’t weigh your hair down other than that I love it.

My scalp loves it as well.

Arrived much faster than expected. Works wonders on the hair. No flaking for DAYS after it was applied. Seems to work even after the next washing. Wifey LOVES it. Would buy this again from Pharmapacks in a heartbeat.

This is a genuine review from a real customer. I have had dandruff for years and have tried everything from Head and Shoulders to expensive brands with “extra strength”. I was in the grocery store one day and there weren’t may options at the store I was at and came across this.

I had no hope for it but felt I would give it a shot since it wasn’t expensive. I also purchased the conditioner as well. My hair is naturally wavy and thick and was becoming so dull and unhealthy feeling over time because of my dandruff.

The first time I used this I scrubbed my head really well with my nails to make sure I could lift up any dead skin and I let it sit for maybe a minute or two then followed up with the conditioner doing the same thing.

The first few times I noticed after blow drying my hair that I was pretty flaky but I knew it was just because I was uplifting some of the dead skin that had been building up there for months or years at this point that other shampoos couldn’t get up or would just easily create more of.

After using this about 3 or 4 times I noticed after hair drying that I had no flakes at all. I can’t believe a Dove brand shampoo and conditioner actually fixed my problem I’ve been dealing with for years.

My hair dresser even mentioned that my hair seemed different and more healthy and I told her I was using this product and she couldn’t believe it. especially knowing how bad my hair and dandruff had been for years.

Like I said earlier though, give this shampoo and the conditioner a try several times and really make sure you are scrubbing your scalp if you have major dandruff issues like I used to have. After just a few uses it will be gone! Ahh I seriously can’t believe it and I’ve been using this going on maybe 7 months now and no signs of dandruff since!!.

I’ve had plenty of products that keep my flakes in check, but I’ve always had a very hard time relieving the terrible itch. Even when completely flake-free, I was always scratching my head, often to the point of causing minor abrasions/scabs.

I have been suffering with a really itchy scalp for around a year, I think it maybe eczema and have bought different shampoos but never made any difference. Anyway I bought this E45 shampoo and it has helped, I’m not totally itch free but there is a big improvement.

I think if I use it a lot it could probably clear it. Bit expensive but worth it.

Since I’ve used this product along with the conditioner, I’ve noticed my scalp has been much more moisturized. It’s definitely helped with the dry scalp in that sense, but it hasn’t quite taken away the dandruff.

Last night I tried the Oribe Serene Anti-dandruff shampoo and Balancing conditioner. I recived these products complimentary in exchange for my honest review. Most of my life I have had a dandruff problem so I have mainly only used Head and Shoulders as my shampoo.

It seems that other shampoo brands don’t make a dandruff category. I was surprised to find out this nice non-drug store brand came out with one so I was very happy to be able to review it. The shampoo and conditioner had a light floral fragrance which was very nice because most dandruff shampoo I have tried in the past do not have a nice smell.

Most have a gender neutral smell. The lather was nice and it all washed my hair very cleanly and the conditioner softened my hair up. I guess for me when it comes to shampoos and conditioners it is not about how it smells, feels, or anything else.

At the end of the day if it keeps my dandruff away it is a good shampoo to me and this product did what it advertised and smelled good while doing it so that is a bonus for me. I would recommend this shampoos if you have dandruff issue!! Only thing I would say bad about it is that the shampoo packaging is too stiff.

The plastic was hard to squeeze to get the product out easily.

I wanted to hate this. It’s so expensive, and usually I would take a star off for the price but this shampoo has changed my life. For the first time I’ve started taking bird baths (washing body and not hair)!! My hair is thick, but fine in texture.

My scalp is oily and flaky/scabby at the same time. I’ve self diagnosed myself with seborrheic dermatitis as I have every symptom. The only shampoo that works for my scalp is extra strength coal tar t-gel.

My hunt began for a shampoo with AHAs and BHAs. My hunt led me to this. I purchased the small bottle. It smells nice (doesn’t linger and isn’t strong), it is concentrated (helps to swallow the price factor as you don’t need lots to get a good lather) and most importantly, my hair and scalp are loving this.

My hair is shinier, softer and more manageable with less tangles, and most importantly, my hair can go until day 4 without showing grease. I didn’t think this was possible. It stays looking so clean for so long.

My scalp isn’t as itchy or flakey but that will take a while to completely rid that issue. I bought the liter on Oribe’s cyber monday deal (Canadian), so I got 20% off. Even with the deal it is expensive.

Sephora excludes oribe from most sales btw. But it’s so worth the results for me as I have tried more shampoos than I would ever care to admit and with washing my hair every 4 days instead of everyday, I can justify it.

Quality hair care should be accessible for everyone although I know my voice isn’t going to cause a price drop so I figured I’d focus this review on why I plan to continue to buy this shampoo.

The first noticeable thing about this is how beautiful the packaging is, absolutely gorgeous, from the box to the details and color of the bottles. These products are scented and I wasn’t a fan of the smell of the shampoo but it wasn’t enough to make me not want to use it.

Besides, the conditioner smells way better and it covers the scent of the shampoo. I don’t have dandruff but I do have dry scalp especially during those harsh winter months, and I feel that this shampoo was helpful with moisturizing my scalp and not making it feel tight like most anti-dandruff products do.

It also made my curly silver strands more manageable and silky, I have yet to encounter a product that could do that. After use of the shampoo and conditioner, I found that my hair was easier to brush.

When my hair started air-drying, I noticed my curls taking more shape at my hairline, something that hasn’t happened since more than a year ago before I shaved my hair down to 1/3 of an inch. I am amazed how these products performed for my unruly hair and highly recommend them as superior haircare.

If you have dandruff, a flaky scalp and dry scalp, yes this shampoo will work. But people forget with dandruff shampoo you have to leave it on longer, not like regular shampoo. The reason why there are so many negative reviews saying its not working is because they do not use it properly, and wash it out as soon as they put it on.

What you are suppose to do is when you step in the shower and wet you hair, after your hair is wet, you take the shampoo and scrub it In your scalp, I prefer to use a scalp massager to really get the medicated shampoo in, make sure it is not just on your hair but your SCALP, as that is where the dandruff starts.

Then put your hair up with a hair tie, put it in a shower cap. Leave it in for I would say 5 minutes. No longer than 5 minutes and no less than 5 minutes. Then shave, use a scrub, or whatever you would to let time pass.

Then rinse your hair but use cold water. Using hot water when you have scalp issues and dandruff is not good it’ll make the dandruff worse!! After you have rinsed your hair with cold water use a good conditioner! I love the scalp conditioner from Oribe too because it also works well with dandruff but anything other deep conditioner or hair mask will be good too!.

I had every intension of NOT ordering the Green Tea and Tea Tree Shampoo Set. One weak moment and I ordered…what was I doing? Why did I need another cleaning shampoo set…I had the ACV set. When my order arrived , I said to myself, oh well! It was history! I tried it and an instant love! Fresh and so clean my hair felt and it smells so refreshing too! How could I not love it! Great set and I have a back-up too! ❤.

I love the way it makes my hair feel when i lather the shampoo and conditioner in my hair. The texture gives it a nice thick scrub and while rinsing it smoothes out all snarls in my hair and leaves softness in each strand.

Thank you for the products as I love working with the brand! However, I guess I was under the impression the teatree shampoo would give my scalp of fresh feel. Other teatree shampoos I’ve used in the past make my scalp feel likes it breathing and I really liked that feeling because I could relate it to being clean.

I took this jar out of the shipping container and read something on the label that shocked me! “Hair is flammable. ” There is a warning to stay away from sparks, flame, extreme heat, lit tobacco. In other words, if I had not read that label, I might have put it on my scalp and then turned on the stove burner and CAUGHT ON FIRE! It is highly irresponsible of this company not to include this critical warning online.

I have tried every oil and every remedy In The world almost. My mom reminded me about sulfur 8. My seborrheic dermatitis was horrible. I would wash my hair and flakes would start back up the very next day.

It got so frustrating I would start crying. I stopped going to get braids and fun hairstyles because there was literally no point if my scalp was going to be inflamed and “dirty” in 3 days. I use the grease and shampoo once a week on my relaxed hair.

I love it. Mr stylist even says my scalp is better than ever. The product is great for the price. If the smell bothers you I suggest using some other product to cover it up but I personally don’t care.

sulfur 8 is the only grease that I can use on my scalp that doesn’t leave it itching in a few days. I have dry thick natural hair and I use this grease to put between my parts for protective styling, it helps with frizz keeping the style longer, and it helps with itching and dryness after washing.

one disclaimer is that It does leave a smell in your hair and it is greasy and can weigh your hair down which is why I only use it for when my hair is pinned up for a few days. it keeps it moisturized and allows me to not have to disturb my hair.

the smell is one of menthol mixed with a farty smell. ive been ok with it being that the whole family uses it but I would be concerned if a stranger walked in and it smells like boiled eggs. but otherwise im sold on this stuff, my kids use it and husband uses it and he has exzema and dry scalp that peels and this is the only thing that works consistently.

we have been using it well over twenty years now and will continue.

I got immediate results! I use hair powder in my hair for styling. It’s hard to get out, and even after washing my hair it leaves build up. The smell isn’t my favorite. But wow! It works better than any similar shampoo on the market.

This will be forever a part of my hair routine.

If you’re anything like me, your hair dries out if you wash it too often, but your scalp dries out if you go too long without washing. Especially in winter, when the dry air sucks all the moisture out of everything.

Enter As I Am Dry Itchy Scalp care. It works as well as their coconut cowash to clean hair, but it has gentle ingredients to give the scalp extra cleansing. I can go a couple extra days without washing my hair, thanks to this cowash.

The tea tree oil scent is powerful, which, if you’ve ever been near tea tree oil, you know is unavoidable. I enjoy the scent, though, and I love how fresh and minty my bathroom smells after I use this.

I also find it doesn’t linger long, and the leave-in conditioner, unless you also use the Dry Itchy Scalp Care kind, is enough to overwhelm any lingering scent entirely. The As I Am resources recommend this for types 3 and 4 hair, but I’m solidly 2c, and I haven’t noticed any weighing-down.

This washes out really cleanly. But, if you have types 2a or 2b, your results may vary from mine.

I only write reviews when I’m attempting to steer consumers away from a terrible product OR when I’m completely enamored by a product. This review is of the latter. I have very very thin (imagine the diameter of a quarter when put in a ponytail), fine wavy hair that when curled with a curling iron straightens out within an hour.

My sister, is the opposite. She has MASSIVE, very very thick, very curly hair and tons of it (naturally I’m jealous). We both suffer from terrible dandruff. She was able to get it under control with this product.

I was hesitant to try it b/c I thought it would be too much for my hair, but boy was I wrong! Within the first use it transformed my hair and scalp- silky, shiny, soft and FLAKE-FREE. It does have a tingly sensation when used but I actually enjoy it! I will never purchase another hair product again.

Leaves hair greasy and dry feeling m. Made my hair issues a lot worse! I’ll stick to regular Tea tree oil! Also the review for the leave in and shampoo. I was so hopeful that this would help combat the Candida overgrowth on my scalp and neck, sadly it did not.

It smells horrid (I’ll never understand why they don’t reduce the terrible medication smell), it leave your hair feeling like it has not been rinsed completely even after taking over 10 mins to rinse (my hair is very thin and brittle due to chemo), over all it did nothing more than add to my issues.

This does not leave the hair soft or com able but more dry and brittle. Even with the leave in conditioner in the same brand! Waste of money!! Thank goodness Sally’s has a 90 return, bc I will be returning it !.

BEST THING EVER! I’ve used SO MANY things over the years and this is really life changing. I have sorisis on my scalp and curly hair so generally I use gel and hair spray which after 1 day causes my head to itch uncontrollably, but since using this I could go 3 or 4 days without washing and have no issue at all.

Leaves my hair feeling clean and doesnt leave behind any heaviness what so ever. really cant say enough good things about this product. I ended up running out a few months ago and bought a name brand which looked amazing but sure enough I was right back to digging after a day or so.

I wont be doing that again! If you suffer like me, give it a shot bc it has done wonders for myself.

Every winter I always have to use a dandruff shampoo due to dry scalp and flakes, I always would use head and shoulders, but I noticed it leaves a residue film type feeling in my hair. Makes it always feel like heavy and greasy.

I do think it helped with the dandruff, but I have found other alternative dandruff shampoo that works a lot Better and doesn’t leave any weird feeling in my hair. It’s worth the extra money. The matrix biolage dandruff and scalp shampoo has been the most effective.

It made my hair extremely matted and there was a weird film on my hair. The tingle was overbearing, yet did nothing. It just tingled, that’s it. My hair scalp still itched and it managed to make my scalp flake even more afterwards.

This shampoo was a no for me. Found another shampoo that’s not even medicated that worked much better. A little disappointed considering the price. Wanted it to work but unfortunately it did not.

Nice product a while ago and i have using it since. I have 4c hair and also problem dandruff. This product in combination with the conditioner, i also see alot of improvement on my scalp. It have a pepermint smell and when you use it, you feel tinteling on your scalp.

First tried this a couple of years ago, and its the first shampoo I have tried that does not aggravate my scalp, as almost any other shampoo will do. Even when my scalp is sore from scratching after having used other shampoos for a short while, this really helps in just 1-2 washes.

I have ordered it a lot since then. The smell has been varied, I must say. Usually, there has been a really lovely and fresh smell on top, but then with a sulphury bottom note. I live very well with that.

However, my last bottle was “off” in the smell department. It smelled smoked in, like it had been in an area with lots of cigarette smoke. Not pleasant. Still, I used it up, out of sheer hair scalp desperation.

I have been trying to ease my dandruff problem that was getting worse by day. I tried an expensive sea salt scalp mask, a giant French-company owned brand, but none works on me. Until a friend suggested me to find a product that is more natural.

So I came across this. It has some chemical yes for sure, but they are quite promising and friendly for my scalp. I saw the reviews mentioning the smell of it, but who cares if it works. And boy, it works.

It instantly calms my scalp, no itchy, and left my scalp clean. For a treatment purpose, I use it every other day, and so far, I did not see any dry flakes hanging out on my scalp. I use a shea butter spray after a wash and it covers the smell.

Well, the smell is medicinal, like a coughing syrup, it has some menthol aroma somehow. Honestly, I don’t care about the smell, it does do its job.

I only used this once but oh my god this has improved my hair ALREADY! I was previously using the ogx coconut milk shampoo and conditioner and it just was not cleaning my hair well, left my hair so tangly and knotted and it never felt truly clean.

I had to aggressively brush my hair after I got out for the shower and lost A LOT of hair in the process. I switched to this bc I wanted something to help my dry scalp and wow …. After 1 use I can already feel a HUUUUGE difference.

I woke up this morning and it felt like I had already brushed my hair. It was sooo silky smooth without even having to run a brush through it. It feels clean and has a really good lather to get close to your scalp to be able to really clean it.

That was my issue with the other shampoo I was using. I can’t wait to see how this works after more uses but after the first one I’m very hopeful!! 🙂 I have dove body wash so I’m thinking dove may just be my brand for shower products! :).

Wow. So my scalp has been so tender, red, & itchy ya’ll! Ok so this shampoo has completely calmed and soothed my ITCHY, DRY & TENDER scalp! I literally fell asleep after my night shower with so much peace.

* Y’all my hair has never looked this sleek and smooth. I have naturally straight hair but the shampoos I’ve been using have been drying out my ends ( I don’t use heat tools) and curling them inward and the winter air jackets I wear have created static so I knew it was time figure out a better solution.

I used the shampoo conditioner just because it’s winter and my hair tends to dry out even more. What’s great about this is that I don’t have to use a hair oil bc the conditioner already does the work of hydrating my ends and reduces dryness and static.

Our family has used the brand Head and Shoulders, for 25 years or so. The only kind we’ve used, is the original HS’s shampoo. My husband has dry skin issues & eczema. He always had to stick with this brand & the particular type it was, no added scents/ingredients.
