20 Best Hair Product For Volume (2023 Updated)

Make sure to filter for verified reviews! I saw this product on social media, and the ad made it look astounding — 2 to 3 inches of lift. wow (as the name implies)! So I bought it and basically felt like I was applying hairspray at my roots — and I got pretty much the same effect (crispy roots with minimal lift).

I imagine you can get the same effect with any drugstore product (probably even better). Importantly, when I bought this product, all the reviews seemed to be 5 stars. Then I came back to write this review, filtered for verified reviews, and I see a lot of low reviews like mine.

Live and learn.

First off, I paid full price for this product with my own money – I was not gifted this product in exchange for writing a review (like many of the 5-star reviews are). Anyway on to my review: Great product!! But let’s back up for a second – my hair is fine in texture, tends to show some greasiness on Day 2 after washing, the length is to my chest, it’s naturally wavy but I mostly wear it straight, and that’s where the fine texture really shows (uggh!), but this product truly helps my hair appear a bit thicker, especially when I use it on the entire length.

It also improves my hair’s volume (nothing outrageous) but it does help create the illusion that my hair is naturally a bit thicker, which is an improvement I’m happy with! This product does not leave any scent on my hair once it’s dry, nor does it leave any residue, or make my hair greasy or my scalp itchy (I have that issue with many hair products).

Highly recommend this and I will continue to buy.

Let’s talk about V-O-L-U-M-E. volume, and I don’t mean sound. I’ve never had a problem with the type of volume we talk about when we refer to hair. I was born blessed with alot of thick wavy/curly, frizzy hair.

(That’s not a brag) Infact the opposite was always true. I had what I considered to be TOO much volume. Really what I had was untamed frizz and a slew of bad haircuts that didn’t take my natural texture into consideration.

I used to spend a large portion of time trying to tame my hair with mouse, gel, hairspray to keep it under control. Or hours straightening my hair so that it looked like everyone else’s. I never actually appreciated the beauty of my hair’s natural texture until I found the right stylist and the perfect hair products for me.

A very recent discovery might I add. I had my hair cut and styled last week and Danielle did such an amazing job. But here’s the kicker. enter Volume Spray and my hair is doing things it’s never done before.

Defined, voluminous, hydrated, frizz free curls for the first time in my life! I’m not suggesting that this volume spray did all those things. But I have never had bouncy voluminized curls EVER! If you saw my most recent reel you’ll know what I mean.

Difussing alone, curl cream alone, would never create the kind of volume that this spray helped me acheive. Because my hair is so thick it is weighed down flat against my head. How I failed to realize that I’ll never know.

This product has really blown me away, and I’ll definitely repurchase. 12/10 highly recommend.

I have very difficult hair. It’s thin and fine textured long hair that is full on blonde by the process of highlights. I have tried every darn volume boosting spray, cream, or mouse and have hated them all! They are all either sticky, or the product gets on hands throughout the day when touching hair, or they dry my hair out horribly! This product you invented is AMAZING!!! A winner for my hair type! First time I used it I said OMG my hair is not sticky, it shines like crazy, and it’s full of volume and thicker feeling without all the drying effects.

I can run my hands and fingers though it and it feels amazing and it’s easy to style. THE ONLY DOWNFALL and problem with it. It is full of fragrance and overwhelming! I felt sick from breathing it in and slightly faint.

Literally faint faint for a few minutes, I read the ingredients. Not sure why something that works this amazing on hair needs to have all this perfume bottle smell to it. Totally not necessary. Also, the ingredient “Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis Flower Extract” might be the reason for me feeling faint.

I was told some people are sensitive to this. It can also cause allergies for some people. If you can reformulate this volume spray without the fragrance and this ingredient I think I would buy and use it daily.

I beg that you can change this without affecting the hair volume and texture boost it gives. Please please do this! Thank you! I really would pay so much for you to change this up. Then you can mark up the price on it too! It would be liquid gold for me!.

I got this through influenster. A little background is that I have fine hair that gets flat easily after a day. First impression was that wow it has a perfume like scent. It’s not too powerful but it is definitely noticeable.

The scent goes away after awhile. A couple of spritz on wet hair and you blow dry/style your hair like normal. I was worried because it did leave a slightly sticky feeling to the hair, but that went away as you heat style/blow dry you hair.

Now, I do have to say that it does help lift your root and give your hair some body. It looks great, but don’t expect super crazy volume if that is what you’re looking for. It doesn’t make my hair greasier at the root, which is nice.

It gives your hair a nice shine. OH and I recommend you not to spray too much because I find that dry time takes a little longer than normal and a slightly sticky residue on the root. Little goes a long way.

Overall, I think this volume spray is pretty good and kind of acts like a hair perfume at the same time. I appreciate how it is sulfate free :).

I used Garnier root booster for years until they discontinued it. I would spray it on my roots, put my hair up and go to bed, wake up brush it out and had high volume, good smell and it lasted for days.

I tried 10+ root lifters and ended up with Biolage. It is a good replacement. I spray it on my roots, go to bed and wake up, brush it out and it has good hold. My hair stays in place all day, and the volume lasts maybe 2 days if the FL humidity doesn’t wreck it.

It’s easy to use too much product and it will become sticky and nasty, so be careful. Otherwise, good smell. I found it to be drying on my scalp. I recommend it if you like a lazy haircare routine.

I have fine, thinning hair and I can’t say enough about how well my hair responds to this product. I apply it when my hair is wet, making sure it gets to my roots. My hairstylist gave me this great tip which I’ll pass on to you: spray it in one hand (my hair is a medium-to-short highly-texturized pixie; I use about 8-9 pumps), rub lightly in both hands making sure a good amount of product is on your fingertips, and work it through your hair to the roots.

You’ll get amazingly fantastic results and the product will last almost forever! And don’t forget to shake it before use!.

This product makes the difference from looking like you have bed head to freshly washed and styled hair. Especially when combined with one of their dry shampoos, and then blown out. BUT you should never be paying full price for their products.

They always have discount codes. I use this root booster every single day ~~sparingly~~ I only use a small amount on my crown hair. Lift the hair, squirt across the roots of the underside and then rub and disperse.

Doing that, my roots get pretty saturated. Somedays I may do another squirt across, but I only use this on my roots. One can lasts me about 2 weeks. and I have never paid more than $9 for it. Lange products are all I use anymore, some of the bottles are small and if you pay full price for them, it can be costly, too costly for me, I would not be able to afford them paying full price. Separate your orders by category: products, accessories, tools; and use the codes.

I have very long hair, so it ends up looking flat on top. I put this mousse in damp hair at the roots, and either let it air dry or blow dry right away. The thing is – if I let it air dry overnight, hair is a bit crunchy where the mousse was, BUT it easily goes away w a brush and/or heat.

I actually dont straighten my hair until after it air dries all night and the product reactivates wonderfully and gives me volume. It does work the best when you blow dry right away tho, but I love that it reactivates beautifully! I dont have luck adding the product to dry hair for volume.

Might just be my hair. Also – I gave a bottle to my senior mother and she absolutely loves it for her short hair. She prefers using it on damp hair and blow drying/styling right away. Her hair doesnt take as long as mine does to dry tho! Ha! I will say – bottle is too small for the price.

This is a great product and really adds volume to my hair. A little goes a long way. For short hair, you really only need a pea size amount otherwise it’s too sticky. The 4 star is because of issues with the packaging.

My item came unsealed so product was already leaking out of the tube when I received my order. The entire tube, especially the lid was covered in a sticky film. I would prefer if this product came in different packaging because the product seems to leak into the cap even when the tube is closed.

Every time I use it, I have to remove the sticky film around the entire cap before I can dispense new product. Although I love this product, I hate that the tube is always sticky when I reach for it.

It also leaves a sticky residue on my vanity because the product leaks.

I finally got the results I’ve been searching for without using multiple products. My blonde hair is baby fine and thin (not thinning, just ÷×$# thin) and even getting hi-lights didn’t change things, and its been that way for the last 73 years.

As my hair is cut in a layered pixie (above the ears) volume is a must and although CW instructions say 2-3 pumps, I only used one pump as I was afraid of overkill. So if you have short above the ear hair, one pump is all you’ll need.

This is a unqiue product, but so are most of Color Wow products. The foam like product isn’t thick like other volumizing products on the market. The formula feels refreshing and makes it easy to disperse and coat the hair.

I really loved that this didn’t weigh my hair down. I have really fine thin hair that needs volume desperately but most products that claim to give volume also make it feel heavy. I was surprised that this didn’t suggest to blow dry after use as most of their products do.

It was strange to be able to let my hair air dry to achieve that blowout look I want. It does absolutely give volume. It’s not extreme but I can see the difference. My hair feels light as if there’s wind blowing through it and lifting it.

I mist my damp hair from roots to mid length (giving my roots extra attention), blowdry my hair upside-down until it’s about 80% dry and my roots are completely dry, then finish off with a blowout brush.

it sprays out similar to hairspray rather then most mousse. so you have to spray directly to your hair if you spray any into your palm it disappears quickly. we have 3 totally different curly hair types in our home & works great for all of ours.

1-has wave to loose curls & it really brings out more of the curls. Applied quickly & easily. 1-more curly with larger loose curls and dry hair that can get frizzy very easily. it really enhanced the curls gave beautiful shape way less frizz.

For tight curls had to apply to sections & dampen the sections with a spray bottle. tight curls did require more time and effort but definitely looked really great in the end! I loved this product & just ran out of my last big can I had stocked on my shelf from a B2G1 sale. They all worked great, until they didn’t. The propellant runs out way before the can does. It turns into a steam of liquid goo instead of a nice foam.

I adore redken products & expected to really love this one but unfortanetly it left me a little bit flat (pun intended). The redken volumizing spray foam is a product that come in a spray bottle & is 30grams.

It looks stylish and simple with its black and green style as well as being able to stand up straight without falling over. The redken volumizing spray claims to give a long lasting natural feel, texture for all over hair volume & fullness as well as controlling hair frizz and flyway’s with medium control foam.

\nThe container contains a spray delivery application that on pressing down on it delivers the foam. The spray delivers a very targeted application for customised control which I like- super easy to deliver into the roots too.

The foam is very lightweight & doesn’t foam up a huge deal- it is very thin foam. It has a lovely fresh fruit smell that isn’t overpowering. The foam is easy to spread through the hair & doesn’t leave the hair crunchy or sticky- something all of redkens products seem to delivery on.

\nMy hair is easy to brush & flows during the day. \nUnfortunately I find this doesn’t really give my hair much volume at all. I don’t find that this product delivers fullness and thickness to all over my hair unlike other products I have tried.

The roots seem to be quite volumized but the rest of my hair just looks the same. The texture doesn’t seem to really last all day either for me- I personally don’t find that my hair style and texture is mediumly controlled like it states.

I also don’t find any difference in my frizz & flyway’s- they seem to still be there and no different. The product doesn’t really deliver for me. I enjoyed other products from redken but I wont repurchase this one.

Sadly I ran out of a sample my hairdresser gave me, and they were closed until after Christmas. Bad planning on my part! This product gives SO much volume to my pixie! It’s about $22 so more than drug store products, but worth it in my opinion.

Perfection. This conditioner is what I use after using the. It compliments it with a nice fruity smell. As I did on my other review, this conditioner basically saved my hair. It makes my hair feel super weightless.

I have enjoyed using a lot of Moroccanoil products over the years. And have been happy with them. During the winter I decided my hair needed a lift as the temps and humidity are very low. With great anticipation I ordered the volumizing mousse.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the product as it didn’t do what I was expecting. It left my fine hair looking flat and somewhat frizzy. I didn’t get the bounce I was expecting.

So far I am liking this product. The main thing I like about it is it generates some volume without leaving a residue, crunch, or any other nasty side effects of a volumizing mouse. It’s been gentle on my curls as well.

It takes heat and styling to make the most of it. I like to use this in combination with Moroccanoil Treatment to deal with flyaways.
