20 Best Hair Product For Braids (2023 Updated)

This has been a miracle in a bottle for me. For 30 years I have suffered from bad dandruff. I was forced to wash my hair at least once a week because of the flakes and odor that emits from the scalp after three days.

I started using this a year ago when I got crochet plaits. They should promote this for treating and I would say “curing” dandruff. I just spray my scalp with this once every two weeks and zero flakes, itchiness, or odor.

I can now go as long as one month before washing my hair. No dandruff product has ever done this for me especially treat the odor and irritation. I was just looking at the last post titled “CAUTION!” And I would like to say to you that you might be allergic to one of the ingredients.

It has tons of different herbs. Definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. But anyhow this product has never done anything but bring my scalp relief. I call it a miracle in a bottle.

I bought rhis to bring the life back Into my braids and wow its really good my braids look super shiny and soft and not dry and oily. It smells really nice too which is a huge bonus. It is long lasting too I know had to use a few sprays too as this bottle will last me for quite a while.

It wasn’t that expensive either so win win.

This is one of the best braid sprays that I’ve used recently! Very affordable I use it nearly everyday on my husbands hair to maintain his cornrows style! The nourishing properties in this braid spray have exceeded my expectations so much that I have started using it on my natural hair as a styling aid.

I spray my hair and comb thru before brushing it up into an everyday pony tail and it helps provide the sleekness that I’m looking for all while nourishing my hair better than plain old water is normally use for the same effect.

A must try if you wear braided hair styles! It doesn’t build up on your braids. Instead it is easily absorbed by your hair! This was a great purchase!.

I have used this product several times before finally giving up on it. My hair is very fine and there isn’t much of it. I try to avoid heat styling it as much as possible and most often, I style my hair by braiding it and sleeping in braids overnight.

Typically, I will use a curling lotion that is lightweight and distribute a little bit throughout the ends. In the morning, I will spray with hairspray and the style would last at least a couple days (more when it’s not super humid out).

This product, sadly, didn’t actually do anything. The braid wouldn’t ever completely dry and the hair would be left a bit crunchy. The wave pattern would not show up as nicely and I would end up pulling my hair up in a bun because it would look so uneven (some strands are wavy while others are straight).

This might work for a more beachy, messy vibe. I did enjoy the scent of the product and the packaging is absolutely breathtaking (I live in the south and purple is my favorite color), so I had to at least give a couple stars for that.

But, the product itself is just not satisfying enough for me to recommend to others.

This is basically mousse. It smells great, and helps lock in a braid, but doesn’t make your hair wavy after the braid is removed. I was left with crunchy and kinky hair, and my roots were super oily after using, too.

I like the concept, but not so much the execution. I’ll be returning this right away.

I was excited to try this product because I do love Beachwaver products. I tried it on dry hair after Sarah suggested this to someone on social media complaining about experiencing frizz still. So I used it on dry hair and did Dutch braids.

I left them in several hours, took them out, and yes, my hair was wavy. However, I get the same result had I not used a product such as this on my hair. Some of my hair didn’t even have any waves whatsoever.

I brushed it out and there wasn’t any frizz, which was nice. The results didn’t last the next day. I applied once again and had to braid again. By the end of the day, I felt that the product built up a bit and caused my hair to be oily.

That’s my own issue and I learned not to over apply. It does smell like coconut and not too overpowering for those who are scent sensitive. I will use it here and there for braids, but I do like the way that it moisturizes my ends, so I will continue to use it solely for that.

Lovely shine spray for my daughter’s hair. I was looking for a soft lightweight sheen and moisturising spray for her hair ( plaits) as her scalp is getting a little sore in the parting. Seems to be working well.

NON greasy and or sticky.

The product itself works alright with moisture on natural hair. My biggest concern about it is that it stains everything.

I love using this product . It has slot of good ingredients in it . I like that it is activated by using a pump and that it really helps with sore scalp from getting it braided

I initially bought this gel to smooth my roots before I braid my hair for knotless braids. It did not hold as well as I hoped, it quickly became frizzy and loose. It help for 5 minutes. I don’t know how it would hold for other styles as I didn’t experiment in that area.

It also has a strong perfume scent, it’s pleasant but overbearing.

I absolutely love this product for retwisting my LOCs. The hold is great & I also use it as an edge control. I love this product so much that Wynn it was on sale buy two get one free I jumped on it and stocked up.

So far this is a great product! It has great hold and great shine. I would definitely recommend. I just bought a second jar.

This is great it conditions and softens the hair. It last a long time and it has Herbal/Vitamins in it. The only thing I would improve is the spray nozzle. Other than that I highly recommend it’s a great hair product.

This product is excellent for natural hair weave. It keep you hair with a sheen and eliminates any hair odor.

I have used so many different kinds of gels that don’t work half as good as this one does for my hard to lay down natural 4c hair. The only downside is it’s very stiff so if you want to remove the gel you can do so with water.

But the gel is on the money.

This the best edge control not only does it lay every hair down but it also keep your hair from not being so dry like the other edge controls i love it and i get a 3 or 6sometimes when i run out i be like my hair crack gone lol i will continue to by this product.

I’ve been using this hair oil since I was a child and I can definitely say it will grow your hair, with consistent use. It has a unique smell to it, I do like it. Pretty affordable I think it was about six dollars at the local hair store.

This is my fave braiding gel! I’ve also tried the red, which is good also. Just noticed a white residue sometimes. But this one – NO white residue! I even posted to my social media! FAVE.

This was my first time trying this brand and I love it! I usually use jam or some other product to do braids or protective styles but I decided to try this instead. There’s no white residue and it keeps the hair in tact.

I run through this product like crazy. So I was ecstatic that it came in a bigger size. I have used it on several clients and still have plenty left. Loyal customer. Plan on buying faithfully!!!!

This product has a light scent and does provide tension relief. However it leaves a slight yellow color on scalp and a sticky feeling. I haven’t noticed any additional flaking from product use. I do love the tea tree oil benefit and itch relief.

good for grey hair helps with dryness and frizz and soothes scalp esp in the cap area it does get oily on the bottle i wrap a paper towel around the bottle to prevent my hands from getting too greasy

I use this on my natural hair that is in cornrows. Plus, I use it on my lace front, Brazilian, water wave wig. It makes the curls pop and it’s not heavy; I can use it everyday to refresh the curls and it gives the wig a little sheen.

This stuff works miracles! My daughter is 9 and she gets the worst knots in her hair. We’ve tried so many other brands with no success, until we found this one recently! It leaves her hair silky and smooth without any residue.

Now It only takes a couple of minutes of brushing compared to the many hours we’ve spent trying to detangle her hair. If you’ve got a little one with this issue I highly recommend you give this a try!.

I have long bleached hair that gets very tangled & knotty. I tried the other “names” detanglers which worsened the problem rather than cure it. I have used Mane & Tail Deep conditioning shampoo & conditioner before, (BTW they are very good too) so I looked to see if they had a detangler in their range, WHOOPIE!! It is amazingly good, just a few squirts & the knots & tangles seem to melt away.

I can’t believe how much better my hair is after using this. For me, it’s the best thing since sliced bread! I’m so annoyed I wasted my money on all the other “brands” which were useless, when I could have found & used this extremely effective miracle.

It says this gel is for braiding but I use it to slick my ponytail every morning. In the past I’ve had problems with gel breaking my hair off and flaking, but this gel is gentle and leaves my hair flake free.

This product worked great for me. I have long, fine, low porosity 3c hair. This was recommended to me by Linwood from GlamFam on YouTube. This has a smooth and tacky texture; a little goes a long way.

My braided style stayed neat for several days and when I took it down, it was a nice braid out. It didn’t flake, but might if too much is applied. Also, didn’t leave my hair or scalp feeling dry.

I love this! I used this on my daughter’s 4a hair, and it helped with detangling SO much. I only needed to dab the pad of my finger into the product, and that was enough to wet the root of her hair, and I used water to help distribute at the base.

With that tiny bit, I was able to part her hair with NO snagging. While this definitely helps with detangling AND definition, I wouldn’t use this from root to ends because it could quickly create buildup.

You can see how the hair immediately curls right up when the product is applied, and it looks SO moisturized. The texture of the product is waxy, but still very loose. If you tip the jar over, it will quickly spill out.

I’m thinking that texture is what helps with its amazing distribution. Usually, all things by this brand have a fragrance, but this does not. It doesn’t smell bad, but no added fragrance either.

This hair braid in jam with Shea butter is very moisturizing. Like I said before in my review title…A little goes a long way. The scent is just right. This braiding jam softens my hair and left it with a nice sheen… as you can see in my pics.

It improves manageability and provides a light tack to help hold my hair together. Last but not least… the ingredients is just about right! not a lot of ingredients I can’t pronounce.

So yesterday was my first time using this braid gel. I received cornrows in the front and box braids in the back. My braider actually loved the Mielle braid gel better than the yellow jar jam!!! Now let me tell you,it’s a great consistency for a gel, I have no itching and no flaking up! It’s actually soothing to the scalp.

So from here on out I’ll only use Mielle braid gel. I ordered my braider 3 jars so her other clients can feel the love on their scalp too! Please do not discontinue this product, it’s truly amazing.

This is an amazing product. I don’t usually like the “bouncy” gels for my hair, but this one is it. It’s super moisturizing, hold VERY well, and most importantly it doesn’t flake! It doesn’t leave any unsightly residue on my hair or make it feel gummy or tacky, which similar gels usually do.

I should have stocked up when I bought this on sale, because I will be purchasing again. Great for type 4 hair. My only complaint is that I do wish it came in a larger size.

Seems to be helping calm my dry itchy scalp between washes. My scalp does not feel tight and dry given it’s use. Hoping it will aide in hair strength and growth, eventually. If I can observe improvements with hair and scalp, I will continue using this product and stock up on my supply.

Would not want to run out of the item that’s giving my scalp a healthy environment. So far, I can say that I would recommend this product to anyone who needs an itch-free scalp.

I thought I would wait a week to try the twist cream, curl activator, cream shampoo and conditioner before I left this review in case my mind was playing tricks on me but. this is probably the worst hair care set I’ve ever used.

Both creams leave a sticky residue feel on my hair and there is no moisture whatsoever. The only way I can describe the sticky feelings is the type of stick you feel when kids get food / sugar all over their hands and it’s the rubbery sort of stick.

that’s how my hair feels. It feels more dryer now then when I was using Maui. I used the cream about 3 times during the week and I’m sure my hair took steps backwards. I have 3b/c hair and from all the pictures and reviews I thought my hair would love some more natural based products.

I literally feel as if I’ve poured sawdust in my hair and called it a day. I sat in my decision to buy from flora for a good few months just deciding whether the reviews were true and to see what sort of hair types claimed it worked for them.

I honestly feel like I’ve been robbed of £50 because non of these products have worked or benefitted my hair whatsoever. If it works for you then I’m happy and I never leave negative reviews but this experience definitely left a mark.

I always had problems finding good products for my 4c hair. At Flora & Curl I finally found what I was always looking for. I use twist & braids cream, leave-in detangler, curl defining gel, and curl activator lotion.

My kids have 3a and 3c hair and the products work great on them too. the products smell great and have a great consistency. All great Product. We love them.

Overall, I was happy with it. Goes on easily. love that it’s eco-friendly. I got the curl defining gel and the twist braid cream. They both worked ok; I’m happier with the curl gel. The twist is ok, but doesn’t smell as nice as I would have liked and virgin coconut worked just as good.

I am going to try other Flora & Curl product!.

This regimen care for braids has been amazing and honestly transformational to how to care for my protective style. The aroma and smell is so relaxing yet refreshing, and the feeling and sensation when worked into my scalp and hair is light, refreshed and cleansed.

I don’t experience buildup and that’s even when using some of the products together. I didn’t know what I was missing out on. And now my family is using mine. So I’m running out too fast. That’s how wonderful this is!!.

After trying the dry shampoo and really liking the product, I decided to try more of Taliah Waajid’s products. This was my first time purchasing a full hair regimen, and I couldn’t be happier with these products! They smell and feel amazing on my hair.

So far, they’ve really helped keep my hair moisturized while in box braids. Shipping was also extremely fast! I will def by getting more when I run out.

Platinum edge control works well with all the textures I service. But for me personally I have resistant gray hair along my hairline and this edge control lays all my gray hairs down and I also have locs and it doesn’t leave a residue behind the next day.

This is reminds me of cheese as its very stringy so you need to be careful when using so that you don’t make a mess. I have texturized hair so I thought this would be great but it wasn’t. It adds a shine but didn’t add any hold whatsoever.

This worked well for managing natural hair. My daughter wanted her edges to lay down. This works much better than other edge control products that we have used. It does not clump up or harden.
