Aesthetically, really really nice and didn’t need much setting up. The case that came with it didn’t have the Fender logo across the front but a little Fender plate by the handle. Not a big deal but it did differ from the picture.

Made in Indonesia if anyone is wondering. My only criticism is that it would have been nice to get a spare string peg or something but it’s a minor quibble for a name brand at this price point.

Generally, it is a great guitar. Many of you would expect a low volume for a mahogany top, back and side guitar. However, it’s dreadnought style compensates for this and thus you will have a warm mellow toned guitar whilst still having plenty of volume.

The guitar looks a lot better in real life than on the photos you may see on the internet. Contrary to the CD60S spruce top (built in Indonesia), this guitar is manufactured in China. The tone difference between CD60S spruce top and this one is small as the spruce top also has mahogany back and sides.

This guitar however is one with great overtones. Being a novice, it is a great starting guitar. My only complaint is that the nut and saddle are plastic. The nut, in particular, causes the guitar to be in need of tuning every 2 or 3 days.

However, this disadvantage is very manageable and if you prefer, you can spend a tiny bit of money to replace the nut with a bone nut at a guitar shop. If you webchat with a guitar center rep they might be able to give you a discount to cut the cost of this guitar to the price level of the cheapest possible for a major manufacturer’s acoustic guitar.

I am a recreational player and was looking for an intermediate level guitar. Very happy with this one. It sounds really good and played well, right out of the box. Stays in tune. Has built in electronics, with tuner.

It looks really nice in the wine-red color, and the finish quality is excellent. Frets are smooth and the action is just right for me. (made in Indonesia, which has better quality control than other locations, IMO) I own a few other intermediate acoustics (Martin, Breedlove, Ovation), and this Fender really stacks up.

Haven’t played anything else for weeks. Would definitely buy it again!.

It was my first concert for the first time in my life. After meeting many audiences said to me, ?Your playing guitar was great, amazing and you have a musical talent. ? I think it?s because my guitar have a real good sound.

I am learning English and I am also learning playing the guitar, if you want to learn again playing the guitar, I recommend you this Fender CD-60S. To playing the guitar in front of people will be amazing experience.

Two aspect to this. The guitar was delivered off the shelf, boxed. No set up before dispatch. So when I got it out of the box it was unplayable with a string height of about 3. 5mm at 12th fret and the bow in the arm dramatic.

So it went to a Luthier fir a professional set up And in fairness to Rimnerscthey reimbursed me that cost. The Luthier found the strings fitted were not Fender Duratones but cheap Chinese strings and the guitar was not an Indonesian made Fender, as most are, but one made in China.

So genuine Fender duratone strings were fitted and the guitar now plays a log better than it did. This guitar comes with a good quality lockable padded hard case which in itself would have cost up to £100 so it is a bargain but I don’t play the case.

The guitar is ok great for beginners and beyond and a good price. Ordering from Rimmers was simple and efficient and delivery first class. Very good customer service too. My only gripe is if Rimmers are aiming to sell a lot on line then have the guitars thoroughly checked over before dispatch after all it is a fine musical instrument your customers are buying and not a broom.

I just wish these items were not made in China. Quality often suffers and they are the masters of fakery and poor standards. Why a company like a fender allows the Chinese to make these instruments is beyond me.

My guitar had two to three imperfections in the finish too. But putting cheap Chinese guitar strings on a Fender and trying to pass them off as Fender Duratone strings is unforgivable and I’ve written to Fender about this.

I have a lot of guitars, over 40 the last time I counted. I have about 7 or 8 acoustics. Most of all are solid wood build but that means they are sometimes rendered unplayable during the winters. So I purchased this guitar.

I got it on sale, so I actually bought 2 of them. The first one I gave away to a friend, that one played PERFECT out of the box. The 2nd one I had to straighten the neck which lowered the action and now it plays perfect as well.

The rolled edges are nice and smooth and will greatly help a new player so their hands don’t get torn up by sharp fret edges. The tuners are surprisingly nice, as good as any I have had on even very high end guitars.

I tuned it once, and it stayed in tune for days. The strings are extra light I believe, which does give it a slightly bright sound but not as bright as my solid wood Washburn. Once the strings have been changed to just Light strings it should sound just a bit warmer and full.

The guitar scale is just a tad shorter than a regular sized dreadnought and the neck is just a bit thinner and the fretboard not quite as wide. It took me a couple times playing but now I’m use to it.

For those who already have guitars, I’ll break down the sound compared to some others that I have. Its not as heavy as my solid wood guitars and does not sound as loud. Compared to my Washburn solid wood WS150 it is a little warmer but just as articulate on the strings and chords when played.

Compared to my Ovation 1771X it is not as well ballanced but does sound better because the ovation is of course plastic. It does not compare to my Guild D-150CE (rosewood body) or my Gibson J-150 (bubinga body) The Guild is 4 times the price though and the Gibson is 8 times or more the price so understandable.

It is the best sounding and playing $100 acoustic I have ever played. Even not on sale at $200 it is an exceptional value! I will put a soundhole preamp pickup in mine.

Love this guitar! Been playing for many years and always in the market for gear. That said the fit and finish on this guitar is exquisite. zero blemishes. Stunning good looks and the sound is vibrant without being “tinny” and covers the gauntlet from deep rich bass ,to good solid clean trebles.

The electronics are Fishman which I really like. Now here’s the kicker. anyone who knows guitars knows the B string has a habit of making weird noises. Well. its almost nil on this one! I was playing a Taylor guitar and just couldnt get that B string to stop.

sold it and for half the money got this Fender. There’s no need to spend $1000 or more to get a great guitar. This guitar delivers great sound,great playing neck and superb fit and finish. Intonation is perfect!! I’d have no problem taking this on stage any nite.

I wanted an acoustic-electric concert/auditorium sized guitar at a reasonable price. I’m not a gigging musician, so no need to spend big money. Went to a couple of stores and physically played over a dozen guitars in the $400 to $550 range.

Ended up coming down to this and the Fender Newporter. The FA-345CE had a fuller sound in the room with no amplifier. Very happy with this guitar!.

Sound: The Mustang has three pickup options, each more unique than the next. Down is very bright and punchy for a bass guitar, quite suitable for those times when the lead and rhythm are drowning you out.

It’s very powerful in this position, much more pronounced, and perhaps worthy of rolling off the volume a touch depending on what you’re playing. The middle position is warmer with more subtle highs and mids, but still a nice bang from the low end.

This position is much more like the high end of a Jazz or Precision bass. Flip the selector up and you’ll get an even warmer, softer tone, not overly dissimilar from bringing the tone down a touch on an Explorer bass.

It’s also quite noteworthy that the Mustang has much more acoustic presence than any other bass I’ve used. This adds another level of tonal range for those times when bass takes center stage or perhaps when you need to roll off the volume a bit without disappearing from the act.

All pickup options are very powerful, louder than a typical bass, and range tremendously with tone adjustments. Features: The Mustang has an offset body with 19 frets. I always prefer offset body guitars, but not usually when it comes to bass guitars, In this case, I am very satisfied with how the offset creates a comfortable sitting position without feeling the constant need to push the guitar to my left when playing higher on the neck (right handed).

The bass is quite similar in this regard to the 24″ scale Mustang guitar, at least in the sitting position. When standing it might take a bit to get used to the position of the low frets if you’re coming from a standard scale bass.

Other features include a single volume, single tone, three-way pickup selector, solid four saddle bridge, and rather large tuners, which are a big standout on this bass. Ease of Use: There’s not a lot to contend with here.

Just one volume, one tone, and a three-way pickup selector. The ease of use couldn’t get much easier, especially with these very precise tuners, which are great for drop tuning because the gear ratio is excellent for dropping a step very quickly.

Quality: This bass is shared among three people in my family, and gets a rugged workout everyday. Thus far everything remains as solid, tight, and in order as when it arrived. The hardware is typical Ensenada factory quality, which i would rate much better than Fender’s far east budget brands, but not up to the level of what comes out of Corona.

But in this case, I see no difference in quality control from my U. S. Jazzmaster, just a bit more budget friendly hardware. One point I feel the need to share is that I am not a fan of pau ferro. The look and feel just don’t fit me very well, though it is only fair to note that I am very partial to solid maple necks, and don’t particularly care for rosewood either.

In my opinion, pau ferro just doesn’t make a suitable substitute for rosewood, however it works much better on this bass than on any other bass or guitar I have sampled. Value: If you are interested in a shorter scale bass, than yes, the Mustang is a fantastic value.

If you’re only looking for the offset feature, you might want to take a look at the deals zZounds offers on the Jazz bass. If you want something more passive, you might take a look at the Precision bass.

If you fancy the punch and pop of the Mustang, but not so much the scale, take a stroll over the the Explorer bass. But if an offset, shorter scale bass with a lot of audible presence suits you, than you won’t find a better value than this Mustang.

Manufacturer Support: I have spoken with Fender customer service on multiple occasions, but not in relation to this guitar. I can say with certainty that the manufacturer support is top notch at Fender, and the customer service over the phone is always great.

The Wow Factor: I was wowed twice when this bass arrived. The first was when we unboxed it and noticed those brilliant tuners, then worked our way down through the rest of this gorgeous, familiar Fender design.

But the biggest “wow” came when I plugged it in and went through the pickup selections and rolled the tone. I was stunned how much pop this bass has on one end, yet how warm and subtle it can be on the other.

We use it for a variety of music from classic rock to metal, country to pop, jazz to grunge, and everything in between, and it can be set to fit ideally into everything we play with it. This is one of the very few bass guitars I have been able to say that about.

Overall: The Fender Mustang is a shorter scale, 19 fret, double-cutaway bass guitar from Fender’s Ensenada factory. It is light, yet well-balanced, has a remarkable tonal range, and after having used it aggressively for a variety of genres, I have found the build quality to be up to the standards I have come to expect from our friends at Fender south of the border.

The hardware is solid, the finish is brilliant, and the MIM team has done a great job at quality control, particularly with nicely finished fret ends, solid wiring and electronics overall, and great attention to detail from the top of the headstock to the bottom strap button.

This bass can range from surprisingly loud with a lot of pop to very warm and mellow, with all options in between easily located through a quick flip of the pickup selector and a roll of the tone. And to top it off, the price can’t be beat.

However, as glowing as I may sound about this bass, it is only fair to highlight a few noteworthy items for consideration. First, I am not a fan of pau ferro, and that was the only option I had when I ordered this bass.

I have come to not mind it, but I have always been, and will always be a huge fan of solid maple necks. Nevertheless, it is a personal preference and only mentioned because, despite what Fender has tried to convince us of, I don’t believe pau ferro is a suitable substitute for rosewood, and especially not for solid maple.

For what it’s worth, this is the only guitar or bass that I was willing to buy with a pau ferro board, and I don’t regret doing so. Also, be aware that this is a 19 fret bass. That’s great for me and those who share this Mustang with me, but some may have a desire for the other three frets.

I’ve only played one song that really needed them, and I managed to work around it just fine. And finally, don’t overlook the fact that this is an offset body. I prefer offset bodies on my guitars, but not my bass, except for this one instance because it makes the neck line up beautifully when sitting.

Note that these are three notable mentions, not complaints. I have come to be okay with the pau ferro, I am just fine with 19 frets, and I love the offset.

I was super excited when the Bass arrived but disappointed quickly upon unpacking. Finish is flawless and very nice. QC was good until I tuned it. Every fret on both sides of the neck were so sharp it was basically unplayable.

I debated whether to return it but afraid the next one would be the same so I decided to take it to a Luthier. He also was amazed and said he never seen a Fender this bad in his 30 plus years. The E string had a kink in it where it touched the fret at some point so new strings were in order.

Frets are now filed and smooth, replaced the pickups with some quarter pounders, restring and a setup. Super Mustang now but at additional cost to make it playable.

This is the third Squier brand guitar that I’ve owned, and the first with craftsmanship issues. The neck wasn’t finished well, it wasn’t sanded smooth, so it scrapes across my hand when I play the guitar.

The string trees are all bent out of shape, and will need to be replaced. Also, the neck and fretboard are bone dry, and need to be oiled. Apart from the neck having not been finished well, the rest of the guitar seems fine.

I love the tone of the pickups, the body looks good, and it’s a nice lightweight guitar. I have to mark it down for the unfinished neck though, because it will take me some time to sand the scratchy bits off to make it comfortable, I’ll have to replace the bent up string trees, and I didn’t have to do either of those things with my other Squier guitars.

If our state weren’t currently snowed-in, I would take it to my local Guitar Center to let their guitar tech smooth-out the neck for me, and replace the bent up string trees, but I’m hoping to figure it out myself.

So, I like the guitar, but it might bother some people to have to do their own finishing work on the neck of a guitar that is brand new.

I picked up the Surf Green Ltd Ed. Bullet Mustang a few days ago off the rack. They had two. One had rusty strings and sharp frets but the one I picked was almost perfect. These Mustangs are great for smaller learners and older guitarists that may enjoy the lighter string tension due to the short scale.

I love the sound of both humbuckers. The bridge one gives you a nice grungy Nirvana like tone while the neck is smoother but both love to be driven. I picked up the Imperial Blue Mustang HH a few weeks ago.

They both use the same humbuckers, The only difference I believe is the wood type, Basswood vs Poplar. Both guitars are quite light with the Basswood Surf Green one being somewhat lighter. These Mustangs are ideal for modding but for now I’ve only changed the cheap pickguard on this Surf Green one, putting a Tortoise Shell on it.

So far I’m loving both of them and my Fender P90 Mustang is getting quite lonely.

I’m a novice player who has been out of motivation to play guitar, with my newley founded free time I decided to get back into playing. I decided on this guitar in particular because I knew I wanted that nice Fender sound, but did not want to spend an arm and a leg.

Squier has really outdone themselves with the paranormal series. The Super Sonic in particular has such a crisp sound to it, even in a clean tone it is like no other, the craftsmanship is super nice too, action was perfect right out the box.

I would say the only problem with the guitar is it staying in tune, especially when you mess with the tremolo bar, other than that, it’s a perfect guitar for experienced or even new players. Can’t say that I love this thing enough!.

Have to admit: bought this because I wanted one all the way back in the 90’s, mainly because of its unique look. Never got a chance then, so had to snatch it when they re-issued it this year. Squier has really made some long strides in their build quality.

This doesn’t feel like a budget guitar. It’s not heavy, but it’s sturdy. The tremolo block is the biggest I’ve ever seen on a Squier. The knobs are solid, no wiggle. The frets aren’t going to cut you.

The neck is even sanded on the side a bit, almost giving it a “rolled” feel. (Almost. Not quite. ) The humbuckers (Squier has named them “Atomic pickups) are quite strong in their output. They don’t have a great deal of their own “character” in the tone they put out, but it’s still a good, direct signal that you get.

Some of that probably has to do with the fact that there’s no tone knob. The two knobs are just volume controls for each pickup. This may be seen as a drawback for some, but I came to love it in no time.

It’s very simple, and you can select the middle position and blend tones quickly, and then switch between neck and bridge for change-ups. It’s really nice. The neck is always the most important piece on a guitar, and this neck is very pleasant.

I generally like thicker necks, such as what Squier put on the Squier ’51. This neck is slimmer than a ’51 neck, but I still find myself enjoying it. Because the guitar is at a 24″ scale, having a slightly slimmer neck makes it play extremely fast.

You can get up and down the fretboard in a hurry. For people who don’t have daddy long-legs fingers, this guitar will feel terrific. Some sites list the neck as a C profile, while others list it as a D shape.

I would have to say the back of the neck has just enough of a flattened curve to qualify it as a D profile. It’s a unique contour, when compared to other Squier models. I was unsure of how I would like it, but it’s perfect for a rock/surf/alt guitar like this.

You can’t get more guitar than this for less money.

so I purchased this as an alternative to my acoustic guitar. The 1st thing I noticed is how light it was. The maple neck was a different feel and gave me more accessibility to the frets. Once I got the guitar in tune I was surprised how nice it sounds.

The amp is not the best, but if you don’t have one, you won’t notice. Overall I like this guitar. Thank you Fender for making an affordable electric guitar. I would get this again for a beginner. As I progress, this guitar is pushing me to upgrade to another Fender.

This is my first electric guitar. It’s alright out of the box. But to make it sound awesome , you got to set it up. I sanded down the fretboard( 400 , 800,1000 grit sandpaper) be careful not to sand the guitars body finish.

Floated the tremolo ( i was really scared but now i can make wah wah sound ). Added moisture to the wood on the fretboard ( i used beard oil hehe) and changed the strings (regular Ernie ball). Now the guitar fretboard is smooth as butter.

I’m in love whaha. The amp is loud and can be used as an auxiliary. It also has a headphone jack. I stay in a small apartment so that’s loud enough for me.

I love this thing! I keep finding new ways to make this thing project the sound of my emotions. This was my first electric guitar and I love it to death, but I’m going to give a fair review so you can make an informed investment.

The tone is amazing, besides the small pickup hiss. I’m always able to find my sound on this guitar. The neck feels great despite the few intonation problems ahead of the 12th fret and the low E string (yes G chord, I’m referring to you).

The tuning machines are awful, I’ll just get that out of the way now; expect constant tuning and perhaps one to completely fall off. But past all of that, this guitar sounds beautiful, and is simple to play.

It’s a beginner electric, but I’ve gigged with it, and I plan to continue doing so. I’d recommend this guitar as a beater, for your kid, or for an adult learning to play. If you’re feeling tipsy and want a fun guitar to shred the heck out of, this would do the trick too! If this will be your primary guitar for a while (kids, I’m talking to you primarily) TAKE CARE OF IT! Parts will fail if you don’t care for it.

Owning a guitar is a responsibility, be proud of it! And to anyone anticipating this guitar’s arrival, you made a solid choice, you have an axe that will unleash a plethora of beautiful music; take care of it, maybe mod it if you’d like to fix the craftsmanship, and rock on!.

A lot of the reviews posted here are for Strats, so I’m not sure what’s going on. Anyway, I bought the red sparkle Squier Bullet Tele. The finish is gorgeous and that’s what prompted me to do a spontaneous purchase.

I have only experienced owning USA Teles, but I’ve played some Squiers that really impressed me. This one? Not so much. I don’t detect any finish on the back of the neck although I’m sure it has a sealer of some sort.

The body finish is nice, but the bridge hardware is cheaply made and I’ll be replacing that for sure. Same goes for the tuners. I’m pretty sure it has some high frets because it goes dead starting at the 10th fret, but some of that was back bow.

I loosened the truss and got rid if it, but now when I sight down the neck the forward bow is pretty obvious. I don’t notice the frets being sharp on the ends. It now plays plays pretty good after sitting long enough for the truss Rod to settle, but I may need to tighten it just a little to get rid of some of the forward bow.

The neck has a very comfortable profile. The body is thinner than my American Teles, but it doesn’t bother me – in fact it’s lighter which I enjoy. The body is Poplar and that’s fine by me. I may leave the back of the neck alone for now because it actually feels pretty good, aesthetics are certainly lacking, but the body makes up for that.

I’m sure with a little patience and help from my friends I’ll have a nice instrument. All the basics are there. As is, it’s not all that great, but still better than my first electric guitar! -!an old Kalamazoo single pickup thing with a bolt on neck back in the mid sixties.

Like the title says, this thing has potential. I probably couldn’t buy a finished body for what I paid.

Got this Squire Bullet HardTail Strat limited ed. while on sale , thought I’d take a chance due to I have seen some Squire models lately that blew me away! I owned a few in the past & were so-so at best! Mine didn’t disappoint on what I was hoping it would be! Got the Surf Green model with Hardtail bridge, I was shocked when it came quickly, Pulled it out of well packed box, fit & finish was superb! So thinking to myself, I’m gonna find something bad or not quite right! Well, couldn’t find Anything wrong with this Strat which could easily compete or better than some of the Made in Mexico Fender ones I’ve bought in past! No neck buzz on mine, No adjustments even needed! Pluged in my shop table Champ Fender amp & was surprised again , as good sounding as “most” of my other Fenders! All hardware was spot on & good shape as well! Just up to individual taste, only thing I will do when I can get around to it, is put a Nice new set of 9’s on it! Personal preference there,-I prefer D’addarios’s or Slinky’s! I hadn’t had a Hardtail Stratocaster in over 20 years or so & glad I jumped on this one! Maybe I was just Lucky on receiving one this good & I’m not usually so lucky-Ha! It was worth gambling a few Benjamins on! Hope this encourages one to give ‘um a try! Rock’n Da’ Blues!.

I bought the Player Mustang 90 with the natural finish and tortoise shell pickguard. This was my first guitar purchase from Musician’s Friend since I bought my Fender Cyclone about 20 years ago (still my main electric guitar, has outlived an arsenal of others that have all been sold or otherwise lost over the years).

The Cyclone is my all-time favorite guitar, and that streak continues. That’s not to say I don’t love this guitar. I do! I bought it because I wanted P90 pickups and I’ve loved most Mustangs/similar guitars (such as the Cyclone) I’ve played over the years.

Yes, I was (am) obsessed with Nirvana, but other than looks I do enjoy the short scale and smaller offset body. This guitar is drop-dead gorgeous and the P90 pickups are screamers. (I live in a second-floor apartment so I haven’t had a chance to really crank the thing up yet, but at lower volumes on my Marshall tube amp it sounds great so far.

) Though I gave this guitar five stars, I would actually knock off half a star due to a few idiosyncrasies. Most notably, this guitar has one of the thickest necks of any Fender I’ve played, Mustang or otherwise.

I adjusted the truss rod because something didn’t feel right, but ended up basically putting it back to where it was. The guitar came with a great setup, I think I just have to get used to this chunky neck.

Looking online at other reviews/comments elsewhere, it looks like this is a thing with these newer, Mexican-made, short-scale Fenders. It’s not ridiculously uncomfortable, but it is a generous handful and if you’re used to thinner necks, you may have an adjustment period.

Also, my cable does not fit flush into the output jack; it pops out a fraction of an inch. I opened it up but couldn’t fix it on my own. Eventually I’ll have a smarter guitar person look at it, but when in use, the cable is snug and it’s not going anywhere.

That said, I’d still recommend this guitar if you’re into Mustangs/offsets/short scale guitars, P90s or both.

I’ve had the Mustang Player 90 for about a month now and can say it is a great all-around guitar. I was looking to fill a gap in my collection with P90s, maple fretboard, and a short scale neck and this delivers on all fronts.

The sea-foam green with the maple is an awesome combo as well, as much as I prefer surf green from Fender. This is a no-frills machine, just plug and play. The clean tones on the P90s are very good and it handles distortion and fuzz nicely.

The maple fretboard and short scale make it easy to play, which has been said ad nauseum, but is true. The neck and fretboard are sleek and I had no issues with frets or dead notes. I’ll look to complete a setup to lower the action but the intonation is respectable out of the box.

If you’ve read and researched this guitar you should know what to expect and it should meet expectations. Overall, pleased with the result and look forward to having this in the collection for the future.

Keep in mind the price, I build some guitars from parts, paid more for some necks than this guitar. Tone and electrics match some guitars costing 2-3X this amount. Guitar arrived with the action low and well intonated and packed well enough there was no damage at all.

It’s small, think 2/3-3/4 scale compared to a Strat. A good guitar for kids, smaller adults, or just to have when you want to play something compact and light. I’ve got a couple Strat type guitars, a nice acoustic, a few others, still like picking this up to play.

It’s an itty bitty little thing. It’s so lightweight it almost floats away! It was perfectly set up out of the box, it arrived with no damage. First, I tuned it. (It was close, whoever set it up musta tuned it before shipping).

It’s got very accurate tuning pegs, not like a Squier or Glarry, with slack in the pegs. Then I sat down and ran through some scales, and strummed some chords. It’s got a fast playing neck. I can play faster on this guitar, than any I’ve tried, and I’ve played hundreds of guitars from an American Fender 52 reissue Telecaster, down to the terrible cheap electric guitars of the 1960s.

Anyway, I finally got around to plugging into my Blackstar Fly 3 battery amp, and wow those Mitchell humbuckers are HOT! I love this little thing, it’s going to be my main axe, and I’m going to order it a new hard shell case, so it stays looking great.

This is an excellent guitar even for twice the price IMO if you’re looking for a song writing guitar this a perfect choice. It sounds well balanced sustains well is loud and has some gutsy low end and clear treble side overall excellent playability and value.

Mine made in Indonesia is exceptional in its finish which is a rival to way more expensive guitars. Rather than cut down on quality of build and finish Epi kept a very high standard.

I have 2 Epiphone AJ 220S guitars and an Epiphone Hummingbird Pro. HA, yes I love Epi’s. My experience with both of the AJ 220S guitars is that when they are brand new the wood sounded just slightly tight.

After a month of playing however they both opened up beautifully. Obviously they are well made because they are Epiphone’s. Both arrived with a sticker on back of headstock indicating a factory setup which was flawless and the sound they deliver is phenomenal.

Now the AJ 220S compared to the Hummingbird Pro. That would all come down to individual taste. The lows seem to be better in the Hummingbird despite it’s somewhat smaller size, but the harmonics sound better in the AJ 220S.

Let me be clear. I am a novice. When I say harmonics it is my attempt to describe the sound you hear when you strum a chord. When you strum the AJ 220S it sounds as though the strings are in perfect harmony, yet you seem to also be able to hear the tone of each individual string better than on the Hummingbird.

Anyway if you are looking at buying one of those two guitars, the Hummingbird costs more. If you want to plug in, that will make a difference because the Hummingbird has excellent Shadow Electronics on board.

If you are looking for that pure acoustic experience though, I actually feel like the AJ 220S edges the Hummingbird out. They are both great.

I own Martin, Gibson, Fender and several vintage imports from the 60’s and 70’s. I wanted another acoustic to write songs with, play outdoors and just beat on in general, saving the frets on my higher end guitars.

So I didn’t want to spend much. I picked this guitar first and formally by the specs rather than by reviews. Out of the box this guitar looks beautiful. I removed the “E” immediately with no trouble without any adhesive sticking to the pick guard.

This made the guitar look much better IMHO. My guitar sounded great to me the second I started getting it tuned to pitch. Plays very easy, zero fret buzz and spot on intonation. The sound of this guitar is somewhat unique and I believe it will open up and resonate more soon since the woods used seem very decent.

You can’t go wrong for the price. Mine was the sunburst by the way. I own higher end guitars like I said, so I don’t want to compare this to those, but my friend has one of those Martin imports that are “cheaper” like $799ish and this Epiphone guitar is better.

I have a dozen guitars, Taylor, Yamaha, some really old stuff too, I play live gigs, wineries, coffee house, some hot sweaty outdoor summer gigs, also work on guitars. so got that out of the way. Just received this epiphone starling in blue, first off : beautiful finish, real low action, smooth fret ends.

After beating on it for hours, it stays in tune, intonation dead on, as for the tone, not a Martin but really nice, for a laminated top, it still has a big crisp sound. So I just installed a Fishman pick-up, what the heck, I have some hot outdoor gigs coming up, this “beginner” can stand up to any of my sweat soaked solid tops and for the price, really, what the heck.

They could price this 100 to 200 more and it still would be a good deal.

I love my new acoustic, it’s a beautiful guitar, tone is lovely. Gorgeous colour, not too pink. Really enjoying playing it. Just amazing for the price too. Very, very happy 😊 x Helped with my choice having the you tube videos.

Cost is cheap hence your not going to get a quality built instrument in return. The company cheapens out on everything: Wood, pickups, tuners, wires, knobs etc. Save your money and just buy a made in USA Gibson which will 10 lifetimes longer than this throw away junk.
