Best Guide For Circular Saw (2024 Updated)

Just made my first cut with the Rip-Cut: smooth and easy way to cut down big sheet stock. My shop is too small for a massive table saw island, besides, my old-guy two-handed operation requires I “bring Muhammad to the mountain,” as it were.

The two Kreg Trak-Horses I got made a perfect work surface in the driveway for the Rip-Cut. It’s quick and easy to set-up and break down. Operation, for me, was somewhat counter-intuitive in that my saw hand acted more as an “outrigger” while my visual focus and physical exertion was on the guide end.

This makes for greater safety for the operator. Use a non-skid medium between your work-piece and the tabletop to secure the work without clamps.

I needed to make some accurate long rip cuts for a table project and a typical rip fence was not going to be suitable. Enter the Kreg Rip-Cut. The aluminum rail is actually great – and should be the sturdiest part of the tool.

Setup of the Sled for my old Craftsman saw was also simple – only tool called for is a #2 Phillips. However I do have some serious concerns about the durability of the Sled – everything is plastic – I can easily see the set screw mounts breaking eventually.

Kreg even makes mention to NOT over-tighten the set screws when securing the sled to your saw’s base plate. I can easily see this being the weak point. In terms of usability, frankly it’s super simple, align the cursor to the blade, set your rip width and go.

Repeated, fast, accurate to a 1/16th of an inch rips. Kreg, want to make this thing seriously better? Make the sled and edge guide from Aluminum.

I am a professional carpenter with decades of experience and have a reputation for delivering superior workmanship. My tools are extensions of my hands and I have no problems using a saw or cutting wood.

That being said, any time savings possibly made with this product go out the window because it is so challenging to make a straight cut. I made dozens of cuts with this jig through 3/4″ cabinet-grade plywood with a good quality saw and new Diablo 40T plywood finish cut blade and found it impossible to make a straight cut.

It did not take THAT much longer to mark, secure a guide and make an accurate, straight cut -without this jig. I have more than a few Kreg jigs and tools and have used them all with excellent results except for this one.

I suspect the issue I experienced was due to the plastic construction of the jig v. s. the resistance against the tool. Perhaps it would perform better if used on smaller material and/or a blade with fewer/ more aggressive teeth.

Bora circular saw system cutting is the perfect system. The Bora aluminum edge and circular saw base make it easy, lightweight, and simple to use. Too bad the transport to Israel is so expensive. It is higher than the price of the product itself.

It works but it will clamp crooked if you let. It does the job I need it to do. I only occasionally use it. For use every day probably not the clamp is kind of cheap feeling for me perfect.

The track comes in a good sturdy bag which will prolong its’ life. Fitted together easily for a long cut. Makes cutting full sheets easy and quick as the saw simply slides along the track without trying to see a line.

I do feel they are a bit pricy when you compare the price of a saw with a multi-purpose blade to the price of two lengths of aluminium track, albeit good quality track. I am still glad I purchased the guide track.

Fast next day delivery. Great item asking long cuts straight perfect for large sheets of MDf. I already had an evolution circular saw. Unfortunately it was not made to fit track. No base upgrade possible so had to place two extenders on base of circular saw both front and back to fit the track.

Once done able to cut the track down to size as to wide using the adjusted circular saw. Fiddly but now perfect. Didn’t want to to spend another £100 on new saw otherwise perfect.

Purchased the ST2800 and also the ST1400 tracks along with a compatible Circular saw, the R185CCSX. Both tracks are excellent and the clamps work perfectly. Very easy to set-up, saw is easily adjusted to keep alignment within track.

Plan to use the ST2800 track for sheet material for my next project but have used the ST1400 to accurately cut Slate slabs with the R185CCSX paired with the 185mm Diamond Blade ‘for mitre saws only’.

Track provided exact alignment and perfectly perpendicular cuts. I ran the saw 3 times along the track to cleanly cut through the Slate. Highly recommended.

It works great with my Makita cordless metal cutting circular saw for cutting metal roofing panels accurately and quick .

The Festool FSK670 is a great piece of kit for using to cross cut Very easy to use Very accurate Saves so much time The only thing is I will have to purchase the FSK250 for smaller timber cross cutting which I will be doing in the near future.

The instructions how to setup the track is very complicated and incomplete. Also the 700mm track on its own is ok but when jointed with another length of 700mm is not accurate. I would request the company to provide additional youtube video to instruct how to set up the tracks and also do and don’t.

The it’s self is excellent and came with some track too. So I thought I would by extra track and bought the st1400- 1400mm track. To my extreme disappointment it’s far from straight when assembled with the black bars supplied even when you sit the track together end to end its not even square.

Complete waste of money. Evolution have let them selves down with this track I couldn’t even take it back as the saw caught a track as I tried to use that’s when I noticed it dose not even assemble square.

Disappointed to say the least.

You’ll want to buy this together with the saw. It takes a bit of time to set up, but cuts extremely accurate. If you don’t have room or funds for a table saw, this is a great alternative. I used it cross cut a sheet with a lot less effort than my contractor table saw.

Evolution if you’re reading this, I think a big zipper might stay cleaner than the hook and loop on the carry bag.

On peut trouver mieux sur le marché, mais ça ne s’adaptera plus avec ma scie BOSCH “grand public”, et l’ensemble sera bien plus cher.

Le chariot s’adapte bien et facilement à ma scie.

I wanted to get this guide rail for a long time and i finally found it here at a great price. I have been using it since i got it. I have a woodworking shop and this rail allows me to rip full sheet of plywood.

It came super well packed. I actually use the package to storage the rail after use.

I purchased after reading about people trying the kit to join 2 shorter rails and being unsuccessful, so far after a few uses I am liking this long version. Shipping is a bit awkward as its so long, they did make a wood box but the box broke at some point in shipping, luckily the rail survived unharmed.

To me this longer track was well with it. Had to meet the shipper at a local business because it came on a semi but that worked out fine. Because it shipped LTL you dont get tracking so that would be one improvement I would ask for.

This is as good as it is supposed to be. The factory does not file the ends, but that is easy to do yourself, so that the saw cord does not get cut or caught if dragging over the ends. The wood package it came in is good and necessary for this item, however mine was cracking open, but product survived.

Staples are used but one side should be glued and the other using screws.

I checked a few reviews on this Kreg rip cut guide. This is a top rated tool for making rip cuts of large pieces of stock like a 4×8 sheet of plywood. I own this fine tool. It is easy to use and easy to set up.

When properly set up and with the correct blade on your circular saw, You will be making a lot of accurate cuts, provided the edge you are guiding on is square, YES, you can cross cut with this for some cuts.

remember you are limited to a 24 inch wide cut. If you are crosscutting and need any wider than 24 inches, then you will need the Kreg accucut for that. Kreg makes some great tools. If you want a great rip cut guide that is easy to use and set up then you will want to get this one.

It is easy on the wallet too, Check out a few safety tips on rip cutting large sheets so you can keep using the Kreg rip cut guide. Cutting big sheets can get a little dangerous. Watch a safety video before using.

Use the Kreg rip cut guide to make a great cut but do it safe as well as accurate.

I would recommend it, the value is good and the quality is okay. Set up was fairly simple, had to make a few adjustments. I suggest you check the measured cut before using it after it has been set up for a while.

The only concern I have is the base mount for the circular saw. You would think Kreg would have a better and strong base then the plastic used. It’s okay, and the clamp that holds the base to the adjustable cutting slide is a little weak as well.

I expect I’ll have to change that after some serious use. What ever you do. don’t drop it.

I’m an experienced carpenter and was looking for a good saw guide. I thought the name Kreg would be it. However, I couldn’t get a saw to mount on it securely, and I tried 3 different saws. I ended up drilling a hole in my saw base, and another corresponding hole in the saw guide base, and bolt it securely to my saw.

It now works awesome!.

Mine arrived with an inplane crook that makes it useless. This was a bend in the flat plane of the rail. So that was not a handling or shipping issue. Makita let a bad rail out. Finally Rockler make good on the part and I have a straight rail.

The saw works nicely on it. Post Christmas rush slowed Rockler’s response. One thing to note in buying rails, to have proper alignment for the full length of the cut, nearly the entire saw base has to be on the rail, beginning and end.

That is a loss of cut length of 10 inches on each end if to avoid starting the cut with a plunge.

Two of these tracks came in a kit with the Makita track saw. The cut quality of the saw is fantastic and I have no complaints with it, however, the track is not quite as good as the saw that rides on it.

The track works well enough and is very straight, however, the anti-slip feature did not work as advertised on either of the two tracks that I have. If I don’t use the track clamps that came with my kit, the track will move slightly in the middle of the cut, which I found out the hard way.

Knowing that in advance, you can pretty much always clamp the track down and be fine but needing space for the clamps under the track does make it harder to break down sheet goods on the ground, which was the main reason I bought it.

Instead of using the saw on the ground with a piece of foam under the plywood like I planned, I simply bring the whole operation onto a couple of saw horses, use the track clamps to keep everything in place, and I’m fine.

I absolutely love the Makita track saw but I plan to see if my saw will run on the Festool track system. If so, I may upgrade my tracks since I’ve had a chance to speak with a few guys that have the Festool track saw and all of them have told me that track slippage is not an issue for them.

We are a house of D. I. Yers and are always tackling issues around our home. Doing floors, building tables, replacing drywall, etc. The guide we had been using was getting the job done but it wasn’t practical.

This one is definitely where it is at!! First of all, it is made well. It has a very sturdy, non-flimsy, durable design. Being able to clamp it is great because the last thing you want to do is to start your saw, have the guide slide, and now your line is completely off and depending on what you’re doing, you may have completely ruined your wood or whatever material you are using and therefore may have wasted time, effort, and ultimately.

money. I find that this guide stays in place and it makes each cut that much better. Lines are straight and in construction, they need to be straight. Also, I like that it is ambidextrous. I am right handed and my boyfriend is left handed and we are both able to use this with ease.

Nothing hinders movements on either side of the guide. Overall, I’m very pleased with it. It does exactly what we have needed it to do and I feel like cuts are definitely straighter for us than they used to be and jobs are done in no time!!.

I love this straight edge guide from Kreg. I own a fixer-upper home, and am always involved in some sort of project that requires straight edge cutting. This tool works with my jig saw, and my circular saw.

It is very easy to use. I just secure it to the plywood, or sheetrock I am cutting, and use the GripMaxx clamp to keep it locked in place. I was able to cut straight edges on two pieces of drywall over the weekend, and one piece of plywood.

I had a hot water line burst in my upstairs bathroom which required immediate attention. I appreciate the retractable cut line indicators. Very helpful, and eliminates the need for another tool. This straight edge is not flimsy.

It is heavy, and built to last. It is easy to store, and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Kreg tools are reliable, affordable, and dependable. This straight edge is worth having, and will come in handy multiple times for those who do projects on their homes.

I am a big fan of Kreg tools for woodworking. They are among the best. Their pocket screw system is world renowned. I was looking for a straight edge guide for cutting sheet goods as I found lugging my track saw kit around was becoming cumbersome.

I saw this Kreg 4ft straight edge guide and decided to give it a try. I love that the guide breaks down in two pieces for easy transport and is easy to reassemble. It is lightweight yet super durable given that it is made of aluminum.

The built in clamps tie down well and can be used to cut 4ft wide sheets. It is stated that this guide can be extended to 8ft with an extension kit but I have not tried that. I like the fact that this guide can be used with different cutting tools like circular saws, jig saws etc.

I feel that Kreg Straight Guide will become my main guide to cut sheet goods. I highly recommend this Kreg straight guide whether your are a professional builder/ carpenter or a do it yourselfer!!.

I have a different make of saw but took the gamble of ordering one of the Bosch guides of course it did not fit but on giving one edge a very slight skim it fitted perfectly so the saw is back in full action Gamble paid off at a very good price Well pleased.
