19 Best Grooming Spray For Dogs (2023 Updated)

Clementine is a very curly light caramel and cream Double Doodle. When her coat gets long in between cuts, it used to take me over an hour to comb her out, even using detangling spray. And it got dry and wooly.

Not many matts, as I made sure they didn\’t have time to form, but it was a lot of work. And when we went for an off leash hike she inevitably ran through the mucky bogs (black boots and belly!) and would need a bath.

Now that we\’re using The Stuff it is SO MUCH easier and faster to comb her out and her coat feels so soft and silky. If there are any matts they come out easily. No more shave downs! And sometimes we can even skip the bath by letting her dry and rubbing the mud off with a towel, or combing.

It just falls off. It is very economical too. The bottle is a bit pricy (I wait for sales), but when you consider that a bottle of concentrate makes 12 bottles of The Stuff, it ends up costing a few dollars a bottle.

So a bottle will last a long time. I highly recommend The Stuff if your dog is difficult to comb out and/or matts.

I did not realize that using show products would give such dramatically better results than the shampoos and conditions I normally buy at the pet food store. I have a poodle puppy who still has his fluffy, puppy coat.

When I got him from the breeder, his hair was so beautiful and had a sheen. When I use the generic products, his coat is weighed down and blah but when I use Crown Royale or Artera or Chris Christensen products, his coat is fabulous.

The higher end shampoos and conditions are superior and they nourish the coat and rinse out better than lower end products. The higher end products are not that much more expensive so I highly recommend them.

I received my shampoo with a tab on cap and sealed in a bag. Good that it was as the tab did not hold and the shampoo leaked out into the bag, although it was only about 1/4 of the bottle, it was a mess to clean up and I was disappointed in it.

I have had this brand shipped many times by other retailers with out issue. Maybe use clear shipping tape on cap like other retailers instead of white tab to prevent leaks Used to be there was a seal on bottle under cap for that reason but not on this one.

The smell is hard to describe. Not perfume like, good for a girl or boy. The picture shown is not correct. It is actually the concentrate that you get, not the ready mixed. Lathers up nicely and left her coat very white and nice and soft.

My rottie tends to get dry skin in the Spring & Fall, making his coat appear very dull. This was my first time trying a Burt’s Bees product for dogs & it did not disappoint! Very simple to use – I just sprayed a pretty good amount on him from the back of the head down to his tail, prior to a normal brushing.

This did not leave an oily or sticky residue. I don’t feel it is very fragrant at all, which I’m fine with since the purpose was to help moisturize his skin/coat. I’ve also used this on him after a bath (while his coat was still damp).

Overall I really like this, my only complaint is I wish the bottle had a different type of spray nozzle – since he is such a big dog it takes a lot of sprays to get his coat covered well. This worked great to give my dog back his shiny black coat & ease the itchiness of his dry skin.

I will purchase this again!.

This spray is everything if you have pups to brush! I imagine that it works perfectly on all dogs, with no adverse reactions like itching. It makes our sheepadoodle look even more like the King of ALL Pups.

We also have a rescued doodle : not exactly perfected on which type of doodle : ) , but she’s one Curly Girlie. By that, I mean like the little girl on the Lilt home perm commercials from years ago – crying on the front porch with a mess of frizzy curls (if you’re old enough to remember that!) from her perm.

A light spray-as-you-go and a good brush and Millie goes from crazy to ‘Hi Smooth and Fluffy!’ in a flash. Try this product. not sure how you could lose!.

I’ve had trouble finding dog lotions that come in an ample enough amount to be able to use on a whole dog AND be affordable. This checks those boxes for me and my dog, Bruce! He is prone to dry skin because he requires frequent bathing (as he lacks the hair to disperse his skin’s oils and it builds up on the surface of his skin causing him to also be prone to acne).

This lotion is awesome and perfect for him! A little goes a long way too! He also gets minor cuts and scrapes without fur to protect his skin, this lotion helps fade the appearance of any scarring. It’s the only lotion I use and trust to use on my dog.

I ordered this shampoo along with the coconut mist for the dogs that come in with dry skin. However, when I opened the box I knew it had leaked straight away as I could smell it! It really does smell beautiful.

I contacted Christies and the lady was very helpful. She organised a replacement to be shipped and it arrived two working days later, which was fantastic. However the same thing happened again! I contacted them once more and the same lady was very apologetic and completely refunded my purchase.

I want to stress that this has never happened before with any products from this site (and I’ve ordered a few other shampoos and sprays of the same brand) so it really is just a fluke. I can assure anyone reading this that the product smells incredible, very coconutty!! Also, if you do have a problem after ordering, their customer service is second to none.

Having used another well known fox poo shampoo for quite a while I noticed it didn’t seem as effective at removing the odour on my dog who makes it his mission in life to roll in every kind of wild animal poo and wee.

After a couple of occasions of using the other product after walks where he rolled in deer wee and poo, and failing to remove the odour after three shampooos, I decided to try another brand. I’m so glad I found this.

It’s great! It had a lovely lather, smells delicious but best of all it removes the odour, and my dog really does layer the odours! A bonus is that it leaves his long c**ker spaniel coat lovely and soft and silky.

Really great and will happily recommend to anyone else unfortunate enough to have a poop roller!.

This is a great simple garland! The wire seems very sturdy. It hasn’t shed needles like a lot of artificial garlands do. It is easy to fold out the “branches” and bend how I want them. I paired them with some battery powered string lights and they worked beautifully together!.

I honestly don’t know how so many people have rated this product so highly. Usually, I love Andis products. Yes, it did a good job at cleaning the clipper blades and helping to keep them cool. But the fragrance is SOOOO strong.

I do have a fragrance allergy. But this was literally one of the worst things I’ve ever had to smell. like weird cheap baby powder cologne with an industrial flair. If you are at all sensitive to fragrances, trust me and avoid this one.

Even if I wasn’t so sensitive, this would still bother me. I tried to power through using it since I didn’t have an alternative. Everyone in my house couldn’t stand it and kept asking me to stop. Even my dogs kept sniffing the clippers and backing away like they couldn’t stand it.

I had to put the can out in the garage after using it just to get rid of the cloud of odor that surrounded it. If you do use it, you need to use it in a VERY well ventilated area. Now I have to find another option for my blades.

Amazing product! I never use to disinfect my clippers but just every so often clean them. I only use my clippers for personal use. I now use Cool care each time i finish cutting my hair and before I cut my hair again.

My clippers feels amazing! Sprays away hair, dust and cools off the metal. I would say I clean my clippers now every 3 months. but within those 3 months I spray them with Cool care. I noticed a difference after cutting my hair as I would get bumps and or redness after each cut.

This is no longer a problem!.

This product has become a staple, not only in our barn, but also in our household. Constantly looking for products to prolong the life of our clippers and to keep them performing in tip top shape, we were pleased when we stumbled upon this product.

In all honesty, it was a gift and not something we initially purchased for ourselves. Though we were skeptical at first, like with any new product, this product has earned our trust and respect time and time again.

As mentioned above, it has become a staple in maintaining all of our clippers at the barn, but also become a stable in our household. At home, our clippers get used and abused on a regular basis. With a husband and two boys that utilize them on a weekly basis, we needed a product that would stand up to the rigors of our use.

I am a very small breeder of Yorkies, and over the years we have had some run-ins with skin conditions. This stuff is so convenient and easy to use and it doesn’t smell super strong like medication or chemicals.

I love the application method, and it made it so much easier to get full coverage on my pup than some of the thick medicated shampoos I have used in the past! Sometimes with other shampoos, it feels like it is so hard to spread the shampoo throughout my dog’s entire coat evenly or it is so thick it is impossible to rinse out of my Yorkie’s long coat.

Aside from being easy to use, the shampoo had a really nice lather compared to other medicated shampoos we have tried that lacked a rich foam. One downfall of this shampoo, is that even though it says it is medicated, it doesn’t have an antifungal medication like Ketoconazole or an antiseptic medication like Chlorhexidine in it.

I think labeling this shampoo as medicated could be somewhat misleading to a buyer, because I would expect that it had an actual medication component. As a buyer, when I buy a “medicated” shampoo, I would expect it to address skin conditions like ringworm and impetigo, and this shampoo isn’t suitable for those medical conditions, but is better suited for itchiness or minor infection from generalized dermatitis.

If this shampoo was labeled as itch-relieving shampoo, rather than medicated, I would have rated it much higher. I was very pleased with the reduction in itching I saw from my Anberlin that sometimes gets dermatitis from itching due to allergies, and she hasn’t had any skin breakouts since we started using it.

Overall this was a decent shampoo, but I don’t know that I’d purchase it in the future. My dog Kenzie is half husky so she has thicker fur around her neck/shoulders, and flank. She also suffers from really bad environmental allergies and has had incredibly dry skin lately.

Let me start by saying it was easy to apply and I enjoyed that it sprays on as a foam, so lathering or spot treating is a breeze. The fragrance itself wasn’t the best, though not horrible, honestly it reminded me of what I remember selsun blue smelling like.

Luckily the smell doesn’t linger and after her bath, she just smelled clean. I didn’t notice any significant difference in how quickly or easily I was able to rinse it from her coat. After just one use I can’t really say whether it helped her dry skin or not, and since we’re now getting into the winter months with less time rolling around outside, I won’t be bathing her as frequently as I do in the summer.

I didn’t notice any significant decrease in scratching, but I also didn’t notice any increase, so it’s hard to say for certain it helped with her itchy skin, but after one use it definitely didn’t hurt.

It’s now been about a week since I bathed her, and happily she still has that fresh after bath smell. Again, keep in mind she’s not running around outside as much as she does when it’s warm, so I can’t say for certain if that’s because of the shampoo or just because she’s inside more.

I’ll definitely keep it in rotation with the other shampoos I use.

If you’ve never seen a Percheron draft horse with dry, itchy, flaky summer skin, let me just say. it’s pitiful. Nine months out of the year, our big mare is an elegant, deep black with a silky coat and a spring in her step.

She’s an astonishingly accomplished dressage horse, performing upper level movements with grace and joy except from July to October. Texas is hot and dry then and the Percheron is a cold weather breed and her skin suffers for it.

I am always on the lookout for things to keep her comfortable – regular soothing baths and Eucerin cream have been the best. Today I used this medicated shampoo instead of the Head and Shoulders to see if it was any better.

Immediately, the scent was awesome – sort of eucalyptus smell that we both like. It sprays out in an instant foam that goes directly where you want and does not drip. The trigger pull is smooth and frankly, just cleaner to use than standing on my tip toes with an upside down bottle trying to pour shampoo on the back of an 18 hand tall, sweaty horse after a ride.

It didn’t lather as thickly as I expected, but it did get her clean and rinsed off completely. See the photos for the dirt that came up in the first swirls. I watched her for almost 30 minutes after the bath and she wasn’t rubbing or scratching at itchy spots on her flank or withers or cheeks.

Clearly the medication ingredient here is doing something soothing. I will absolutely continue to use this and the Eucerin cream as needed.

A game changer for various skin conditions. Our 2 Babies ( Shih Tzu) have tender skin and our boy is prone to some skin itches. Especially in spring and during the end of summer/fall. The shampoo relieves discomfort like a charm.

Skin wonderfully conditioned and his hair is soft tangle free and no itch. The cleansing pads will also really help with soothing ear itches and yet gently cleansing. These pads last a long time too.

I cut them in quarters. This allows me to get into his smaller, delicate ears and do a good cleaning. Be certain to keep lid tightly closed. If they do happen to dry out a bit. simply spritz (2 to 3 spritzes into the jar) with some bottled or distilled water just to moisten a bit close back up and you’re ready to go.

We have been using for years now. Would absolutely recommend both shampoo and pads.

My schnauzer started have itching and scabbing. Wasn’t sure if it was the new canned food “EVO 95”, or the seasonal weeds at the park. Either way, this stuff helped all the sores and scabs heal within a week.

I used CHI anti-itch shampoo on him every time we came home from the park. I give him Apoquel for allergies daily, and use the Chlorhexadine foam on him when I notice the scabby areas mostly on his belly & legs; and so far so good.

Until this week I took him to the park and he laid in a dark, almost black muddy area. All the scabs are back and I have to repeat the treatment cycle again. There is no odor, at least for us, but my dog doesn’t like it; so I just rub his belly (as I’m applying) very gently and get him to relax until it dries.

I was prescribed the pads for my dogs’ privates. She is prone to infection due to extra folds around that area and I have to use these every time she urinates. This site is $5 dollars cheaper than my vet office, and shipping to my home is definitely more convenient! They DO dry out very easily, so make sure to keep that lid super tight.

We’ve had many dogs over the years but our latest rescue(pit boxer mix) is el Jefe the grand stank master of them all. We’ve tried everything. water changes, food changes, adding pre/probiotics, bathing weekly with a veterinarian recommended shampoo, but nothing helped.

By the second day after his bath he was right back to his seriously stanky self. I researched sprays, wipes, etc. and settled on this spray bc of the ingredients and reviews. I love my pupper and bc he sleeps with me I wanted something not overly perfumy or harsh on his sensitive skin.

Yes, he is very sensitive!!! Anyway, this spray does the job amazingly well. When we get back from hikes in the woods(dry days) I spray him and he not only smells nice, his coat is extra soft and as a bonus I’ve noticed less shedding/dander.

I’m able to bathe him less often thanks to the spray which is good bc his skin is so sensitive. I buy the spray for girly dogs bc I like the scent, it smells like baby wash. and since he is my fur baby, it suites him.

This cologne spray works very well. My puppy, a mini Pin. /Doxie mix, has very short hair and lots of skin showing on his underside. He plays VERY hard and seems to sweat a lot. This spray helps keep his odor down between bathing.

I think the scent is really nice too. I spray him and then brush him well and he enjoys the whole process. I also might add that he hates his mosquito repellent I have to spray him with on outdoor days and it is a totally natural product that is made for dogs ,but he actually enjoys being sprayed with this cologne! I do recommend this cologne spray highly.

Wow. This is a godsend!! My dog came home from the vet after getting spayed, and she smelled like a walking trash can. I don’t know if she peed on herself or what. Tried lavender dog wipes and it made it worse.

We were not allowed to bathe her because it would ruin her stitches. So I bought this not having any strong expectations, but it completely neutralized the bad odor!! I was so incredibly grateful that my house no longer smells like a garbage can and my dog smells like dainty flowers.

We have three shampoos we use for our rescues, two which we purchase from the Vet when needed. Burt’s Bees oatmeal shampoo has been our go to over the counter shampoo for decades now. One of our rescues is like our old Lab was, pollen comes down thick enough to write your name on the car and the dog’s coat dries out.

With the dry coat, shedding is unbelievable, even in a short hair dog. Then the constant scratching begins. With this oatmeal shampoo, it takes care of both issues, scratching stops and the shedding goes back to normal.

It’s definitely a chore reducer! The great thing about receiving the shampoo from Chewy is not only the lower price, but the fact that they taped the top down so no spills in the box!.

This is the worst dog shampoo yet. It’s so runny and barely soapy it took me nearly 1/3 of a bottle to bathe my dog. She gets baths monthly or better so she doesn’t get particularly filthy between washes.

There is no lather generated, and it’s difficult to even tell if an area has sufficient soap, even if I just dropped a bunch in that spot. I rarely return products, but this is going back. I assumed Burt’s Bees would be a quality product, but I clearly assumed wrong.

On top of that, its $12 more expensive in store! Shame on you Petco for gouging your in store customers like that.

Very easy to use. Convenient. Some waterless shampoos require previously wetting the coat or other inconvenient procedures before or after. This one is just what I think waterless shampoo should be. On a dry coat and just rubbing, let it dry and brushing after would be good.

The foam turns into liquid soon during rubbing which is good since it is easy to get the shampoo deeper in. And you really do not need much for the coat to be nicely soaked. This bottle would last a short hair medium dog for a long time.

Tasha was not dirty at all but I could not wait to try the shampoo. She was not shampooed for a long time so I thought I still would notice some difference. But I did not. The shampoo feels good on my hands, the subtle nice scent stays on them for quite a long time and it is pleasing.

But I do not smell it on my dog coat. Well, for Tasha it might be even better.

I have a Beardie/Poodle who’s coat matts easily and he hates being brushed. I’ve tried many sprays before, but this is amazing 🤩. It leaves his coat so soft for ages, and knot free. Reduced brushing time, so he’s a happy doodle.

We’ve used Buddy Wash products for years. The lavender & Mind Spritzer has a nice fragrance that doesn’t linger, not perfumy. More importantly, works beautifully for spot detangling of matts on long-haired dogs.

Of course, you still need to use a comb but Buddy Wash lessens the pulling in sensitive areas and helps the comb move easily through matted hair. Buddy Wash Spritzer is also useful as after bath all over conditioner.

it leaves the coat silky helping to reduce matting over all. None of my dogs have ever objected to the use of Buddy Wash Spritzer, conditioner or shampoo.

I LOVE this spray. I use it daily to spritz on my new mini Saint Berdoodle puppy in the evenings after a long day of playing in the yard and wrestling with her 7 year old husky mix brother! The fragrance is a very light lavender and mint that is not overpowering.

It is not an overly perfumey fragrance but instead I think it is soothing and fresh. The added conditioning helps detangle some curly spots on my pup’s underside, neck, and legs, as well as around her paws.

A little goes a long way (about 5 spritzes each time for her little 12 lb. body) and the little bottle seems like it will last a lot of uses! Sometimes I will spray a little on my 90 lb. husky shepherd mix also and then brush him, but the light scent does seem just a bit “girly” for him! lol.

I, personally, really like this product. It is made in the USA, uses natural and friendly ingredients, effectively deodorizes the outdoor-dog smells. Unfortunately, my pup begins to avoid me every time he sees me holding the bottle.

He cannot stand the smell of this spritzer. My husband even commented that it smells like soap. As in the soap you’d find at your circa 1920s relative’s place.
