12 Best Grinding Wheel For Concrete (2023 Updated)

Both the 4 inch and the 7 inch wheels performed excellently. They last a long time even when cutting welds and quarter inch thick wall pipe and angle iron. I ran out of wheels and sourced another brand locally (Forney) and those lasted about 1/4 of the time on the same material at about 25% higher cost.

DeWalt is the best product. Zoro ships fast and has the best price. I ordered on a Saturday and received my supply the following Wednesday. The second order arrived in 3 days. GOOD JOB AND EXCELLENT PRICE ZORO!!!.

This is the best review you will EVER see! I worked in tool and die and machining for 42 years. still making “stuff” for another 15 years. I am currently making a knife using D2 (1/4″ thick 60 year old file) and then the HASTELLOY X for all parts except the blade!! This is a big knife! The wheel made it 2 hours straight and now I am grinding down through the hub.

This wheel cuts the Hastelloy easy if you keep the pressure light and straight and cut your stock off in 1/4-3/8 chunks instead of long deep cuts that generate to much heat and jam your wheel. The Hastelloy X was 10 mm thick plate.

(0r. 396, or a little over 3/8 thick for those who don’t know metric). $6000 dollars for a 40 inch square piece! I used it to make jet engine combustion chambers for the Air Force years ago!! This wheel was a good buy if you know what your doing! old tool and die guy.

Was doing some tuck pointing (grinding mortar and replacing it with new mortar) and was using a wheel made for grinding metal. When I started using the new DeWalt wheel (made for grinding masonry), the grinding took much less time.

The wheel was so strong and long lasting that I had to be careful not to over-grind.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Grinds concrete! and fast. you need to keep it moving all the time on concrete or it will dig a hole pretty quick. i am on my second one after 8 months so they are great value.

NOTE: these guys kick up a lot of dust, i would recommend using the dust shroud and vaccuum.

Dewalt wheel did a fine job polishing concrete. Did not remove concrete nearly as fast as Rigid Double Row Diamond wheel.

Once the wheel is on the grinder you need a special thin wrench to remove it as the nut is on the inside and should be on the other side. Works OK but not as good as expected

I used this product on various materials, including hard steel, with great results. This wheel was easy to use and control, especially when grinding in tight spaces. It was great for grinding a weld.

When it finally does wears down, I will buy this product again! Highly recommend you get one now.

I used it to contour and dress up the edge of an old concrete step that was damaged along two edges. It performed fantastic, grinding down the rough edges and smoothing the surfaces quickly. A real time saver and after all the use, it is barely worn.

Lots of life left for other projects as they come about.

We recently expanded our custom gun shop & moved our paint/ceracoate room to an actual paint booth. This meant attempting to remove a year’s worth of overspray from the concrete floor, in order to expand this into our gunsmith room.

We were doubtful but it made short work of it.

i have the old green tormek 2000. purchased the fine grade diamond wheel to replace old stone that i never liked (too much fussing to get it true and it always seemed to wobble. alot). and i had to get new axle also as stone would not come off.

my tormek has the older smaller water container. anyway. love the diamond stone. runs true! maybe it is the new axle, maybe the new wheel. but together no wobble even on my old machine. ahh. also seems like less water spillage (none doing chisels, some on scissors it i move too fast) than on old stone.

It’s well made; in that it, ran true and sharpened well. However, I didn’t like the additional water spillage. My machine was swimming in the plastic tray I have it in. ? I researched the product and I thought you could use it to dry sharpen??? But, after reading the included paperwork – they recommend using the water reservoir.

I thought that didn’t seem to be stated online (although, might have missed that part?). I usually get a little water with the standard stone. But, there’s something about how the drops cling to the machine side of the diamond stone and it doesn’t make it into the reservoir.

The water additive is probably going to cost you too – in that You have to keep mixing because it runs out of the reservoir. ?.

I don’t normally write reviews but I have been so happy with Axminster that I thought I would help them out. I am a huge Tormek fan. The DE-250 does not disappoint. I have used it to correct the out of square edge on a plane blade and sharpen a handful of chisels.

I went straight to a leather stropping wheel with compound after using the DE-250. The finish is like a mirror and every edge shaves arm hair with ease. I try to sharpen before edges get too bad so I went with the Extra fine grit.

I had a little bit of concern that the extra fine might be too slow to work on a damaged or very dull blade. My worries were for nothing. I didn’t really want to get a set of wheels in other grits and have to switch back and forth because of the way I work.

I don’t think I would have much use for the coarser grits and I am happy with the speed this works and finish it leaves. I understand that the wheels are a little more aggressive when they are brand new and I did notice that but I’ve used it enough that I think it is where it will stay for years to come.

A little expensive but long after you forget about the cost you will be enjoying amazingly sharp edges. Go for it!.

I bought this to repair a botched concrete job. Lots of honeycomb (voids next to forms) and high and low spots from bad screed work by old guys that flat ran out of gas before we ran out of concrete.

This grinder absolutely moves the material. It cuts fast and flat. But you really have to pay attention that you keep the cutter level. It cuts so well that it will gouge before you know it. I’ve done about half of a 4 foot by 8 foot stoop with 1 foot wide steps off of 3 sides, basically the equivalent of a 8 foot by 16 foot pad, and it looks like there is still about half of the cutting teeth left.

So it should be enough to finish. Of course, I am removing a LOT of material. Much more than the average person would to dress up a pad for epoxy or that sort of thing. So I suspect it would easily do an average garage or patio job.

And I’m using a constant flush of water to keep it cool as I work. Messy, but effective. That said, these are well made steel grinder heads. They are heavy. So don’t buy a 7 inch and run it on your 5 inch grinder just because the arbor will fit.

Well, unless you just wanted a new grinder anyway. The weight of a 7 inch head will suck the life right out of a 5 inch grinder and you may end up needing a new grinder. All in all, a good buy. Wellmade, cuts good, fairly durable and seems to be fairly well balanced.

Just hope I survive it. Grinding concrete. not a job for old men. ;~).

Very nice well made tool. I bought this to smooth out some steps and my porch and was not sure if the tool would hold up, I was wrong. It eats through mortar, brick, and concrete very easily. I have seen similar products go for 50-60 dollars and wasn’t sure I would be getting a quality tool but I am very impressed with the quality of this one.

Makes me want to find more concrete to smooth out. I was also worried that the tool would be more than I can handle not being a very experienced home improvement person. It is very easy to handle and with a nice high amp grinder will really make short work of smoothing the concrete.

In comparison to other diamonds we tested, this one was as aggressive but less smoother that others

I wanted to make a table out of a 3’x3′ granite slab. The fellow at ED recommended a 7inch SSeg #20-25 I wasn’t sure how it would work out but I was very impressed with the results. Cut through that rough granite amazingly well.

This cup wheel is a real worker, this is my second one to use, it really is aggressive. I install tile so I need an aggressive wheel to grind high spots in concrete, this is the best I’ve found. Great buy.

I anticipated something akin to a traditional glue trap (plastic tray with glue). This is sticky cardboard, nothing more.

So far I only used it one time to grind away some light surface concrete finish on my front landing/steps and it worked great. I did about 1/2 of the top landing with the other half still to finish and I still have another one to do.

I did notice though that it looked like it wore down some. Hopefully it will last long enough to finish my job.

I have probably bought over 30 of these in my work as a wood flooring installer. Great for grinding down high spots or raised cracks in concrete or just the clean paint/joint compound off prior to flooring install.

Also works to smooth out joints on OSB/plywood subfloors. The 12 segment is much better than the 24 segment if you don’t care how smooth the concrete is. 12 seg removes the concrete much faster than the 24 as well.

I have tried numerous brands even much more expensive wheels and the 12 seg ridgid is by far the best. Use it with my metabo 7″ grinder with dustless shroud attached to my dustless vac fitted with my dust deputy.

Dust deputy collects 90% of the concrete dust only allowing 10% to go in the vacuum. Saves vac filters and bags allowing vacuum to maintain suction. Great affordable dust free setup for concrete prep.

Just got done grinding 710SF, not all of it mind you but that was my area I had to grind. I now have to fill in some low spots and cracks then go back and grind again. After that I think the wheel will be done or just about.

If you can, wet your concrete first it works a lot better. But man, regardless, this wheel eats the concrete.

When I need to cut up or grind metal, I use two angle grinders – one with a cut-off wheel and the other with a grinding wheel. I hoped this cutting/grinding wheel would enable me to use one angle grinder.

I tried to cut a metal shelf part. I could cut with this wheel, but not very cleanly. It worked fine for grinding. I eventually switched to a standard cut-off wheel to clean up the cuts. I recommend buying one of these wheels.

They are inexpensive. They would work well on certain jobs in which a thin cut is not required.

I saw a video on youtube suggesting using a silicon carbide grinding wheel , i. e. a masonary wheel such as this for removing mill scale and rust from metal in preparation for welding. I tried this wheel, and it works better than the metal grinding wheels for this application.

It removes the mill scale faster and leaves less scratching on the metal surface that may cause problems with painting or other finishing later. Good solution to a problem.

I used one of these wheels to grind notches in some concrete blocks to accommodate anchor bolts. I had to set six of them and it took little time to do. When I was finished the wheel looked like it had barely been used.

I’ve used other wheels of this type that did not wear as well as this one. I will definitely buy Hercules products in the future.

I have done my share of cutting steel and these disks really disappointed me. I could barely cut 5 feet of 1mm thick stainless before the disk was used up. I could see the disk turn into a cloud if dust as it shrunk before my eyes.

Some disks only lasted 3 feet. My pressure and speed were both good, so this should not have happened. I can only figure that the thinner blade width is the cause. I am glad I bought the 15 pack because I will have just enough disks.

This job should have only used 5 disks max not 11. I will not but again as other brands that cost a bit more last way longer making for better value.

Thought I’d try these to see how they compare to other brands. Cutting 2″ pipe and at most, made 3 cuts before the disc was worn completely. I am stunned to see all the positive reviews for this product.

Perhaps they were cutting soda cans? I use cutting discs in my business and these are among the worst. Used a common power tool brand disc for the same money and it lasted 2-3x longer. HD needs to replace this brand with a better product.

Shipping methods and packaging was unacceptable. They look like they packaged with a sling shot from 10 feet away. The paper was just thrown in there not even wrapped around them. As well as it the box used was 23 times bigger than the product themselves.

Solid product. Does the job.
