20 Best Grinder For Pax 3 (2023 Updated)

I have not used this much since purchase, but seems like a well built heave machine. Most grinders on the market these days seem to be built light, but I wanted something similar to the 30yr old indestructible machine I had that someone “borrowed”.

If you are use to using today’s lighter machines then this thing will seem like a brute, better eat your Wheaties cereal.

Is this really the best grinder Milwaukee makes now? I have ran and still run mostly red and have always used the heavy duty grinders 7”/9” with the metal housings, this thing is not heavy duty at all.

All plastic housing and you can feel the handle flex when you are running. Also the screw in handle is angled forward and makes it awkward to handle, not to mention it is extremely long. By far the worst quality I have seen from such a good company.

Seriously powerful tool. Well made. Heavy duty. The only thing I recommend; which is what I recommend for ALL power tools with gear reduction, is to open up the gear box, remove the grease and replace it with hypoid gear oil.

There’s a reason that car and truck manufacturers don’t use grease in their differentials. Keep the gears well lubed and it will run just about forever.

I would rate Jet at about 3 or 4 Stars: they have a very impressive product, but some of the details and quality control aspects need attention. Also, even though Jet’s Customer Service was easy to reach and provided me with all the replacement parts I needed without question, they should have simply replaced the whole unit to ensure it was properly repaired and safe to operate.

I personally was okay handling the repair myself, but many others may not. Here are the details. I purchased a Jet IBG-8VS, Variable Speed, 8″ Bench Grinder from Zoro on January 18, 2022, and it arrived the following day.

It comes preassembled, except for the tool rests, spark guards and eye shields. Immediately after unboxing it, I plugged it into a 115 VAC outlet and turned it on. There was a noticeable vibration at 900 RPM which worsened at 1800 RPM.

I removed both wheels and all mounting hardware, and the vibration completely disappeared at 900 RPM, 1800 RPM, and even 3600 RPM. So, I decided to balance the wheels. I reinstalled the 80 Grit wheel, and it seemed to be okay.

no vibration at 900 RPM, and none at 1800 RPM; but when I ran it up to 3600 RPM, the wheel exploded. Large chucks of the wheel were wedged in between the arbor and cast-iron wheel guard, which locked-up the motor and literally caused the whole cast-iron wheel guard to rotate forward about 15°.

The wheel guard is attached to the motor’s cast-aluminum end housing with three screws. So, when the wheel guard rotated, the end-housing rotated with it, stretching and bending the four long screws that secure the two end-housings to the main motor and damaging the threaded bosses on the end-housing.

The cast-iron wheel guard also cracked in two places, and the spark guard was bent. I contacted Jet Customer Service and they sent me replacement parts. The grinder has been repaired and is now operating smoothly with CBN wheels: I’m reluctant to use the original wheels, and probably will not.

ever. I should note that this grinder is prewired with a standard 115 VAC power cord and plug, but it can easily be adapted for 230 VAC (single phase) operation by simply swapping the power plug. It incorporates an inverter, variable frequency 3-phase motor, and digital display, so the user can precisely control the speed in 100 RPM increments.

This was an open box item but I saved several hundred dollars because of that. It was new and works perfectly. The bolts that hold one of the inner wheel covers had been removed and only one of those three bolts was in place, though loosely.

I found a second bolt in the packing and retrieved a third in my shop as they are standard size. So within a few minutes of opening the box it was up and running. It’s my first variable speed grinder.

It has three fixed speed buttons and a digital control to vary the speed. It is quiet and runs smoothly with nearly no vibration. I am quite happy with how quickly it arrived and how well it works.

Wow! What a difference from my little 1/5 hp Craftsman bench grinder. Much larger in size and performance. A bit more work to assemble with the Multitool kit than I had anticipated (plan it out!) but once done made short work of smoothing my bracket corners.

Very happy. BTW, as this is essentially a VFD, it won’t operate from a GFI outlet. Plan accordingly.

I use this Grinder for Cutting Rebar, Steel Channel, Angle Iron, and Pipe (106, 333, 312, 316 [Schd 40]) The side handle is great, it seems awkward that there isn’t a centric position for the handle for vertical cuts while most other manufacturers have them.

There is no variable speed, and that may come into play for what trade you are in, or what your task is doing, but for most metal working, a variable speed dial is most likely a liability. The guard is amazing and simple to use, the locknut is perfect for tool free purposes, and the threads seems like high quality along with the lock button.

You will want to pair this Grinder with the High Output 8. 0 XC Battery, anything less is insufficient. Sorry all you 5. 0XC advocates, this grinder will eat those batteries alive, and it’s not good for your battery or the tool.

The kit and hardcase came with two High Demand 9. 0 Batteries which were underwhelming in performance compared to the HO 8. 0 XC. The hardcase included in the 2783-22HD Kit is a great kit for the price.

My largest complaint is about the hardcase. The hardcase is dramatically large, and for no particular reason with tons of room gone to waste, it seems almost 30-40% bigger than what it needs to be. The second major downfall to the case is that it cannot fit the HO 8.

0 XC Batteries. Milwaukee REALLY needs to adjust all the hardcases in their lineup to fit these new batteries, and reduce the size of the hardcases or just remove them entirely and make them fit their Packout system.

Soft carrying bags are not the solution. I can’t complain about the performance of the Grinder, it’s a great cutoff tool when paired with the proper batteries. If you are grinding Washouts on welds and Beveling I suggest to look towards the 2980-20 6″ Grinder, another Grinder which I also own, and has different purposes compared to this 5″.

Overall great tool, hardcase is bad, the batteries paired with it need to be updated with the case, if it goes on sale you don’t need to hesitate, it’s a great Grinder that can help do all your tasks with great mobility, and fits great in any packout kit.

I love this Mikwaukee grinder. Works great and it’s extremely reliable. I own a CNC machine shop and we run 3 shifts around the clock 24/7 so my tools get heavy use and abuse and I haven’t had any issues with any of my Mikwaukee tools.

All of my employees really like using the M18 tools over our air powered tools… they are lighter, easier to use and you don’t have to drag around an air hose and they have the same amount of power, if not more and less maintenance.

The batteries can easily make it a full shift but we have several in rotation so there is always a battery charged up and ready to go when needed so there is never any down time. I highly recommend any Mikwaukee tool for the home DIY’er to the commerical/industry users like myself.

The Milwaukee One-Key app is awesome for keeping track of your tools, and if you didn’t know, you can still use the app to add all your Mikwaukee tools even if they don’t have One-Key. If you haven’t checked out the app yet, I highly recommend you give it a shot, you’ll like it!.

This is a hefty cordless, much more substantial than earlier models. The benefits are a capable grinder that manages vibration and freedom from the cord (tether). This allows more worksite flexibility for cutoffs and cleanup.

It does a corded grinder’s job, but not for hours at a pop. That’s just the trade-off. For construction work, it is worth it. A metal worker might feel the battery life is more of a constraint. My biggest complaint is actually the availability of a range of 6″ discs.

4-1/2″ discs work fine, but the 9,000 rpm spin is designed for the larger discs. Altogether, this a versatile tool in my workshop.

I bought this last month to cut quarry tiles for the outside of the house, along with a diamond cutting blade. I could not have done the job without it. The angle grinder cut through the quarry tiles like butter, with virtually no chipping.

The angle grinder was easy to use and not heavy, so it was simple to make accurate cuts to the quarry tiles. I also used the grinding blade to smooth down some concrete which was protruding underneath the door facia.

Again because the grinder is both light a robust, it make short work of this despite the tricky angle. All in all this is now an indispensable tool in my tool kit.

This is my first time both buying and using an angle grinder but my very blunt small hack saw just wasn’t cutting it! The instructions are not overly clear but after a large coffee and no distractions I managed to work out how to put it together.

The handle is simple enough but fitting the safety cover and blade took me a while. The instructions are for serval different types of grinder which I didn’t think was immediately obvious. Once fitted properly (make sure you have the securing nut on the correct way up so the blade doesn’t move) this glided through the pipe and brackets I needed it to.

Be very careful when ordering this item! There are two versions 110V/240V, on the website they both carry the same number MAKITA GA4530R on the Website only the picture differentiates between the two.

On Screwfix’s computer system they differentiate by using GA4530R/1 for 110V, and GA4350/2 for 240V. Guess who ordered the wrong one, as soon as I opened the box I realised I had the 110V, not the one I wanted! Fair play to screwfix, they changed it for a 240V with no problems.

If only all companies were that easy to deal with, this is why I always use Screwfix they look after their customers, which in turn deserves loyalty, they’ve certainly got mine.

This review is based on inspection (unpowered) of two Makita 9557PBX1 kits. Both kits were returned after concluding that issues found could not be resolved by Home Essentials Direct or the manufacturer.

PRO: Reasonable amps & rotational speed (7. 5A/11000 rpm) for DIY projects; comfortable grip — lightweight & small diameter barrel; large paddle switch increases safety; not limited by battery life of cordless models; kit includes all the essential items required to start use immediately.

CON: Continuous operation feature not reliable as the ‘lock-on’ switch is easily overridden with the slightest pressure on the paddle switch. ‘From the Mfr’ description on the Home Essentials Direct website is misleading — wheel guards are not ‘tool-less’ & there is no AC/DC option switch.

The hand covers half of exhaust vents — concerns (unverified) regarding overheating the grinder during continuous usage. Home Essentials Direct sent a replacement PBX1 kit, but both kits were returned after inspection revealed that identical issues existed with both kits (unreliable lock-on switch; misleading claims regarding tool-less wheel guards).

I will consider other grinders, but may return to this Makita 9557PB grinder, as none of the online test reviews of this grinder view my concerns as critical.

I bought this a year ago and like absolutely everything about it. It came with 4 grinding wheels, one cutoff wheel and two safety guards. I used the tool for in a welding project in prepping (cutting and grinding) 14-guage 2″x2″ angle iron.

It performed the job well. Compared to a similarly spec’d Dewalt grinder I’ve owned for years, this was a lot less noisy. The safety latch is easy to use as well. The aluminum metal case is unlike any tool I’ve ever owned, it is solid, functional and cool looking.

I work in the automotive restoration industry. I use an angle grinder to smooth welds, grind off paint and rust, cut metal, and I use it hard. I have owned grinders from just about every manufacturer that you can think of, from cheap to expensive.

In a word, this Makita angle grinder is AMAZING. The balance is very good. There is zero vibration when you press the button. The switch is in a very comfortable place to depress. The grinder is very powerful, and doesn’t get hot, like other grinders do.

The air/cooling vents were located in a location that isn’t covered up by your hand while using this Makita grinder. This grinder comes with a foam lined metal case, that I’m not going to throw away like I always do with the cheap plastic cases that usually comes with power tools.

I am not only impressed with the quality of the Makita angle grinder, but I’m very impressed with the case that it comes in. I will be buying another, just in case something in the industry changes, and this same model becomes unavailable.

This equipment is akin to a Roll’s Royce of grinders. I have another one, a 4 1/2″ Metabo HPT and this thing blows that out of the water by far, granted this is 3 times the price. The braking system is the highlight for me due to the short amount of time it takes for the disc to completely stop, the quick adjustable guard is amazing, which also means you won’t throw away the guard, the soft-start means your beginner buddy won’t be intimidated by the initial kick of the grinder and makes it safer if you forget to let the RPMs reach max before putting on work coupled with the SJS system, and the ergonomics is my favorite.

I am big fan of the deadman’s switch trigger, rather than the paddle-style or press-and-slide of the Metabo. Although this one doesn’t have a safety lock, if you’re not worried about OSHA, this is one sweet grinder.

11K RPM means you’ll be able to get a lot of 5″ and 4 1/2″ discs on this pretty easily. All in all, this is a pretty sweet grinder and its power means you can throw most fabrication jobs at it and it’ll chew it up rather quickly.

So pros and cons first: Pros: – Nice easy start. I had no idea how much I wanted soft start until I had it on this grinder – Externally accessible brushes (lots of other grinders require access panels and such) – shape and handle is perfect for me even tho I am used to smaller grinders – shroud is easy to manipulate without tools – plenty of power Cons – trigger Lock-off.

I hate this feature. The lock off is only accessible in the right hand when you hold it disc face down. It is not ambidextrous and spring is WAY too heavy making it awkward when I am trying to bolt it to my vice disc up.

I am gonna end up removing it – no trigger lock (I am using a zip tie for now) – Arbor nut is poorly designed because the holes are too small and close together to use any wrench but the one that comes with it.

I ended up switching to my dewalt nut because I fabricated a nice wrench that has pins on one end and real wrench on the other. This makes it where I can use the same wrench to lock/unlock the nut and the other end to remove wire wheels, cups etc – Arbor nut wrench has no open end so that it can remove standard wheels and cups that thread on without the nut – grinder gets a little hot.

Doesn’t seem to be outside operating limits but I was surprised that such an otherwise manageable tool would heat up with light use. Bottom line: This is a great grinder but I am gonna look for makita replacement parts to add a trigger lock.

There are alternate models that that dont’ have these trigger problems.

Great grinder. Grinding is not fun,, I’ve got corded and cordless grinders from 4 inch to 9 inch, this one is my favorite. Much lighter than my 7 inch. But spins a 6 and 7 inch wheels with no problems.

Run dc thru it with my lincoln sa200 works great. Got mine from Daniel at united standard supply. For $119.

I decided to get Dewalt 60v Circular saw , Grinder and Sawzall the tools are amazing tons of power decent battery life. I got all three. each came with a 9 AH flex battery for 349 insane deal for the best tools.

The Circular saw had a quick charger with it. I can charge a battery as fast or little faster then grinder will kill one being used on full power. The grinder kills the battery’s in about 1. 5 hours.

not often will you run a Sawzall or Circular saw for an hour and a half with out turning it off so have not killed a battery in one or the other as of yet. I think 2 batteries and a quick charger for one person would be enough.

Great product. I fried a corded grinder recently. This unit is brushless. I have other tools in this series and the large battery really puts down the torque. I was skeptical that a cordless tool could be effective for a long interval, but my experience with the Dewalt tools is they are ready for serious work for a long enough period that you can have another battery charged before you lose power on the one you are using.

Basically no downside due to being batter powered. Having no cord is also a big plus when you need a grinder in the field.

I wanted a cordless grinder with enough power for grinding off rusty heads, cutting rebar, sharpening mower blades and other cutting needs. This seems to fit the bill so far. Not sure that it spins the discs at 9000 rpm.

Does not seem that fast with a fully charged 60V-6ah battery, but it is fast. Only surprise was that a 20V battery will not fit in the unit. I have several other flexvolt tools that accommodate 60V and 20V in a pinch.

This unit is 60V only. Have not yet tried with 6 inch discs.

Overall this is a very powerful professional quality angle grinder. I bought it to replace my heavily used Craftsman angle grinder I bought back in 1981. The trigger switch on the Craftsman went out for the third time in the life of the 35+ year old tool and I could no longer get the part to replace it.

It’s a real shame because I thought that thing was going to last forever. Anyway, the Makita seems like a very nice tool, the only issue I have with it is the weight. It is considerably heavier than other large angle grinders I have used including the Craftsman grinder.

At my age, you can guess because I was 18 when I bought the Craftsman. It is going to be a chore to hold it up for any great length of time. That is fine for grinding welds, but extended use on wood siding is not going to be easy.

That is not the fault of the tool, but I do wish it were a pound or two lighter. If it lasts half as long as my other grinder, it will outlive my working days.

Never any doubt that the Makita grinder would be first rate. Since it is a less sophisticated version there is a higher likely hood of increased lifespan. The 7 in. model is quite capable of supporting alternative 9 in accessories as needed because they share so much between models.

I initially was looking to get into the -much- lighter weight Hitachi, but after a bit more contemplation it seemed that wouldn’t be the smartest move when choosing this type of tool. If someone else were buying the tool, and providing replacements the Hitachi/(updated manufacturer) would have been OK, but since I’m not using it on a full-time basis (and providing my own tools) the Makita GA series was a smarter choice all together.

I’ve had this item for a couple of months now. This is a well balanced heavy duty grinder you can lean into to get the job done quickly. Start up torque doesn’t try to rip the machine from your hands (no its not a soft start) like a lot of grinders this size.

I use it with cutoff wheels, grinding wheels and resin disc. Does a fantastic job with any attachment I’ve put on it. I like that the guard is easy to reposition with a wide swing range.

If there is a grinder that can bring joy then this is it! It is small but powerful, with well thought of details like power switch that turns off the grinder (in case of emergency) with a slight touch, shield that rotates with a latch and so on.

Ergonomic design, lightweight, powerful, pure joy!.

I bought this grinder to replace my old De Walt that died. I needed a small grinder to do a lot of concrete grinding in a small space and this grinders performance was flawless. Like all Milwaukee tools I highly recommend this tool if you are looking for quality and durability.

inexpensive tool works good but Brush Springs last only a couple of months with steady drive grinding. No problem and remember to cool off, too. … yeahyus

Performance is better than price would suggest, and good for a small/light driver. Great if you already have others so can use batteries. Fairly quiet compared to some, and vibration not too bad. Ideal for wheel nuts as torque is enough for what’s needed (what I bought it for – to replace old Clarke one).

I bought this as a treat to myself following using a colleague’s at work. The ‘work’ one is the same model and is a few years old, typical Makita quality, reliable and dependable. It has more than enough grunt to deal with almost all car and light goods needs.

The body is slightly bigger than others but to me this reinforces its power and quality. I expect this one to last year’s based on the work version.

Good solid wrench. Plenty of grunt. Nice forward and reverse paddle switch action. Fairly heavy if that’s an issue. Quite long in the body too if access is limited. Uses the standard lxt battery. Good for slackening tight and rusted heavy duty nuts and bolts.

Overall a handy , good solid tool ,ideal for the car mechanic as it has plenty power for the heavier duty fastenings.

This grinder will eat up some metal in a hurry. Love the tool less guard for repositioning. It gets heavy after using it awhile, but like milwaukee says, nothing but heavy duty. Seems solidly built and meets my expectations.

The type 1/41 cutting wheel guard can be bought on Amazon under the Black & Decker brand. $24. For the “One-touch” guard system. Hope this helps. DeWalt should get their act together better when organizing accessories for their products.

They have this problem with other products and models, they seem to indicate accessories can’t be available but they really are available under a different name or part number. Besides that, this product is awesome.

I have had Dewalt electric grinders, palm sanders as well as drills for over thirty years and never had any problems with them. I started using their battery drills and even the battery powered chainsaw for pruning and camping.

They are all great products and now I have also just bought a new angle grinder. It is very powerful at 18 volt as are the others. I use them on my old wooden boat when needed as I have no power there.

Also out on the farm and anywhere needed when we are away. Just the best battery gear. Top equipment from dewalt!.

Bought this to use type 1 this cutting wheels for work, but it only comes with a type 27 (open-side) guard. Called DeWalt to get a type 1 guard. They gave me part #643772-00. Got this guard but it cannot be used on this tool because the guard uses a clamp-on fastener and the tool has a ratcheting release lever fastener.

Called DeWalt again to see how to install this type 1 guard and was told to read the user’s manual. Called a factory service center. The guy there researched the part and the tool and said there is no type 1 guard made for this tool.

I returned the tool and now I am looking for a tool that will do what I need to do.

Love everything about it except the switch. It has plenty of power to cut/grind anything I can throw at it. The extra airflow is great. That switch has almost made me return it on several occasions. It is extremely awkward to activate.

Once you get it activated it’s not too bad but if you have heavy gloves on it’s a real chore just to get it depressed. I’m looking at jumping out the little switch stop on the front of the paddle just because I can’t stand it that much.

I have used milwaukee tools for 25 plus years and have seen very good designs and some not so good from them. This switch design has to go!.

It’s great for a backup. It lacks a little power when you get into it but it does work. I prefer the thumb switch version with the computer to keep the rpms up while you’re pushing the tool to work. I do use this one regularly.

Usually for cutting wheels while the better one does the grinding. It’s nice to not have to change discs every time. If you aren’t using a grinder all of the time, this will work just fine. If you get paid by the job and not by the hour, not a good fit.

I use a small grinder to grind off welds, grind metal, wire brush paint and oxidation, cut off small profiles of metal, grind concrete and rock, polish rocks for lapidary applications, and much more.

The Good: Most of the time one is limited to a single r. p. m. , which invariably is in the higher range. This tool, where it is variable speed via a “dial” on the rear of the tool just above where the cord emerges covers a good range of r.

p. m. s. It is the variable speed that enables one to use the tool for so many different applications. High r. p. m. s for grinding steel or other metals; slower for sanding, wire brushing, and grinding concrete/ceramic; and slower yet for polishing.

I purchased this unit as a reconditioned grinder. Not only is there a savings, but I believe the technicians who service the units take extra care that everything is fully optimal. The Bad: While this is really not the fault of Milwaukee, especially where the tool has to be thicker to accommodate the power needed; but I am older with gout and arthritis.

While the thicker body of the tool is probably fine for you youngsters, I find it more difficult to grasp and control. To counter this I “jury-Rigged” a handle that comes off the right side of the tool and is secured opposite the threaded handle hole on the left side of the head of the tool.

(See the photo attached. ) In addition, the auxiliary handle allows for the grinder to draw more air into the motor and gear assembly to keep it cooler. For you lefties, one just transposes the handles.

The Ugly: I have purchased Milwaukee tools for years. I was a little concerned when I cranked up this tool to hear an oscillating sound atypical of other Milwaukee grinders I have owned. A I performed some wire brushing the noise diminished, but is still there.

Perhaps it just needs to be broken in.

Bought this for a job on the thanksgiving day weekend. It even shows that they paired it with a type 1 disk online, such a fail, well major warning on the inside of the box saying not to use type 1, major fail no info on the box outside or anything online in the description I have to return it now my project is also delayed.

This tool is meant for do it yourselfers not a good idea to not have the info on the box.

I am a huge fan of all Ryobi Tools. Great value even at full price but I scored this two grinder pack at a reduced price. Could be one for home and one for the cottage or as I did, split it with a Home Depot coworker.

Bought this to help take down a very old, rusty shed in our backyard. Found that it worked, but also found it is very particular about how you mount the wheel on it. First time it looked like it was on properly, but after turning it on, it went elliptical and dug into the protective barrier.

After that I found it worked well at cutting through the sheet metal – just be sure to always wear proper eye, head, and ear protection, as well as proper clothing and shoes. Seems good for light duty so far.

Well balanced motor much quiter than my corded machine only limited by the battery capacity. Butt lasts quite long on 5ah battery. Love the machine.

Ive previously had a Bosch and dewalt grinders and the big red m does not disappoint, cuts all day long if I wanted too, amazing bit of kit

I personally think this product is great. I used it to make repairs on boats, trucks, metal , Scraches on glass, grinding paint off racks, etc. Really proud to have this baby in my collection. 🙂 I like the feel of the rubber places and handle.

The vibration feels more comfortable than with a corded one. I like the safety bottom and the weight of the product. What is nice about this product is that you just need a charged battery and the world is yours to discover.

The only negative side I have to say about this product is the key to change the tools. It would be nice to have a place to store it on the tool. Before I taped the tool on the cord to get easy access when changing different grinding tools.

Overall this grinder is a well made and tough built tool.

As a professional Welder/Fabricator I was hesitant, cause I go thru grinders. But, I’m more than glad I did. This thing rocks. Plenty of power, balanced, and best of all, the motor is protected from overheating.

The first thing I tested it on was a piece of 3/8″x10″ steel flat bar with a cut off wheel. It went thru it like nothing. It cut BETTER than a corded DeWalt. I got the -22 with 2- 5. 0’s. It used 1 battery to make the cut, which in my opinion is pretty good.

It’s perfect for that quick 30 second job. it takes longer to get a cord out and plug it in then it does to do something quick. That’s one of the main reasons I got it. Another main reason is cords. When I’m doing a job, there’s cords and welding leads laying everywhere, or 1 cord and unplugging and plugging in tools.

EVERYONE knows that’s a pain. Milwaukee is EXPLODING with awesome cordless tools that I never imagined would be cordless. AND. not only cordless, but cordless that lasts and is powerful. I made the switch to Milwaukee from the Yellow brand a few years ago.

I’m eventually gonna get 2 more, then I’ll have 1 for a cutoff wheel, 1 for a grinding wheel, and 1 for a sanding disc. yeah, it’s expensive, but saves in the long run switching wheels. Lazy?. No, just smart.

It always boils down to time is money. The quicker you can get the job done, without tripping on cords all the time, the faster you get paid. Well. most of the time, haha. Anyway, it’s top notch and great quality in my book.

I have used a Hilti corded grinder for over 30yrs. I am now a retired millwright and for years I also used the Dewalt cordless tools. About 4 years ago I replaced the Dewalt with Milwaukee M18. I instantly loved them! Far superior to the Dewalt line up.

I started out with a 1/2″ drill, sawzall, 1/2″ high torque impact, 1/2″ mid range impact, 3/8″ impact and screw/nut runner. I recently added the jigsaw(AMAZING), and I just purchased this grinder. This is the best grinder I’ve ever used.

Great ergonomics! It will last for any small/medium project on one charge. I HIGHLY recommend ALL Milwaukee M18 tools!.

This FLEX 24V brushless 5″ angle grinder came with a 5. 0Ah battery, 160W fast charger, grinding guard, flanges (nuts), wrench, anti-vibration handle, and a FLEX branded bag. The bag is nice quality, feels durable and I think it will hold up over time.

Its fairly good sized and will store your grinder, batteries, and an assortment of discs/blades. The battery is big, and the lights are super bright on it! You can easily see how much life is left on the batteries even in full sunlight! FLEX also put the LEDs on both sides of the battery so no matter what angle you look at the battery you’ll be able to tell the battery level.

The charger is super fast, but here’s the caveat, its loud. It has fans (like a computer) built into it to cool it and the battery down during the charging so they don’t overheat like other manufacturers can.

I really like this feature, but FLEX took it a step further and set it up so the fan only runs while the battery is actively charging, so you’ll know when the battery is fully charged as the fans will stop spinning (and you’ll be able to see from those beautiful bright LEDs).

The handle for the grinder is nice and comfortable, and is easy to install; you can also install it on either side of the tool. It has antivibration built into to it so the handle actually absorbs some of the vibration so your hand doesn’t tire as quick.

Now on to the grinder itself, its variable speed, but the variable speed actually has two configurations in a sense, there is a “-” and a “+” button above where the battery slides into that lets you set the max speed, and then the paddle switch has variable speed built into it too.

The safety is also built into the paddle switch; there’s a little spring loaded tab that you push up into the paddle, and then you squeeze the paddle. It may take a little getting used to at first, but then it becomes second nature.

The angle grinder had plenty of power to push through the tasks I put it through, from rust removal, to cutting steal bars and grinding them smooth, to even grinding wood. I never felt like the tool struggled or was fighting against me, and with the anti-vibration handle my hands were hating me at the end.

The guard is easily adjustable and doesn’t require any tools either. The grinder does have an anti-kickback feature built in to it through some kind of braking technology, but I didn’t have any kickback issues so I can’t comment on that, but I do feel more comfortable using this FLEX grinder knowing that it does have an anti-kickback feature.

All in all, I’m super impressed with the FLEX angle grinder, and will definitely recommend it!.

I already have a couple angle grinders in my tool collection, but wanted a cordless one for quick jobs and for use in locations not near a power outlet. Plus, I’m always looking for an excuse to buy a power tool.

I really like this grinder, has a large 5. 0 Ah capacity Lithium battery,it is 24v come with charger and charge really faster. Once in hand the tool itself looks to have a quality build and is well balanced with the battery installed.

The removable handle and main handgrip area have a rubberized coating which will help not by providing a better grip but should help cut down on user fatigue from vibration during use. The grip hand can be installed in the left, right, position an requires no tools for installation.

The battery charges quickly and also has 4 charge indicator LED’s built in so you can easily check how much battery life you have left. There have fan built into the charger for protect any over heat in the battery charging process.

This grinder has really powerful very recommended.

Already gotten quite a bit done with this little guy. I’ve never owned a battery operated angle grinder before so a direct comparison is difficult but it has performed well. The variable speed setting is great and the charger is quite a beast.

Tool and battery both seem to be build well enough that I don’t have to treat them like a new iPhone with no case on it. One of my favorite things about the grinder is how quickly it stops when I let go of the switch.

By the time my hand can get it to the table, it had stopped. I don’t have to wait another 90 seconds for it to wind down like my old Corded grinder.

My old McKeller grinder packed up partway through laying some paving slabs, so I needed a replacement asap. Over the past few years, as they’ve died, I’ve been replacing all my power tools with Makita – well made and excellent value.

This one came in a well made storage case with a diamond cutting wheel included in the price. Really powerful – even using my old diamond wheel on this machine it seemed to cut with less effort. As other reviewers have said, it doesn’t have a soft start, so be prepared for a kick when you start up.

Fast shipping and installed. The bearings are made in Japan, fit perfect. The seal was also high quality and fit perfect. The washing machine is so quiet now! I got 11 years out of the original Korean parts.

Here’s hoping these Japanese bearing last as long.

I needed a 9” grinder to cut some concrete slabs for a patio we were doing for a customer. As all my power tools are from Makita it was a obvious choice. Having gone to my usual on line supplier it became apparent that many different models are about but very similar in spec.

My main reason for ending up at my local Toolstation was they had stock , online supplier didn’t due to COVID etc, but the bonus was price £10 cheaper at Toolstation. Any reason for picking this model was the inclusion of a blade ( diamond allrounder) which cut slabs with ease, but also cut some granite kitchen worktops as well ! Plus point 3 , unit comes in a case for safe storage, many I found online didn’t !, not the sort of tool that would last long in a cardboard box it came in.

It’s quite a meaty tool so can kick when started ( soft start would be the only improvement) but easy to operate once used a few times. Top marks to Makita n Toolstation.
