20 Best Green Screen For Zoom (2023 Updated)

The first time I extended the screen it lost it’s ability to retract. I ended up hanging it upside down off the handle with the weight of the suspended body eventually smoothing out the few creases it came with.

To fix – unscrew the right end cap, then unscrew the small single screw that goes into the white roller to release the spring tension. Manually roll the screen up, then put the end cap over the roller and rotate to build up an initial amount of tension, reassemble.

The actual quality of the green screen is very good.

This is the first chroma-key screen that I have seen that is usable in both landscape and portrait 16:9 format. All the others are set for portrait use and when you are mixing media (live and pre-record) and must match the orientation, you end up hanging the backdrop cloth using clothespins.

All of the backdrop only (no supports) units have the pole channel on the short edge so that they can only be utilized in the portrait orientation as well. There was, also, a minor issue with a loose support.

Valera’s customer service had a replacement part to me in 3 days (they are on the west coast and I am on the east coast)! Magnificent service. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!.

If you’re looking to stand in front of a greenscreen by yourself, then this greenscreen is the one for you. However, if you’re looking to walk around or have more than one person in the same greenscreen, you should check out some other options.

Very easy to set up, put away and store in your standard-sized vehicle, so easy travel to your destination.

I purchased this set of three 5 x 12 feet backgrounds in White, Black and Grey because you essentially get the stand and traveling case free if you buy just the backgrounds separately. I wanted to take the full length pictures so I ordered the 12 feet version over the 7 feet long version because I did not want the floor to look different in the full length pictures.

If you have not read the product description carefully, these backgrounds are made out of velvety cloth. This is great for BLACK or GREY because the velvet texture will not reflect light. It make it easy for the background to go black.

The Grey may look light when you see it but due to the velvet texture when you take a picture, it does not reflect lot of light and comes dark like it is shown in the product picture. I did not like WHITE or let me say that I am having hard time having white show up as white.

As you can imagine, WHITE is also made of the same velvet cloth but for anything to show up as HIGH KEY proper white, that texture needs to reflect light and this cloth DOES NOT. You will need lot of background light to get this white background to give you a proper HIGH KEY white background.

As some of the other reviewers at this and other websites have written about this product, this cloth can easily get wrinkled and if you are looking for paper smooth background, you will not get that kind of look.

You should just go buy paper backgrounds in that case. The product picture is shown like a paper background. In reality what you will see is a background that looks like a cloth. Also the product picture shows at the top a straight line, you will not get a straight line at the top which you should not care about but still pointing out that the product picture is not a realistic representation of this product.

I love the fact that everything comes in its case and everything is very easy to pack and transport. I do not need this portability but it may be important for some of you. The fabric is very light weight and will move if you have a ceiling fan running in the room.

I am also finding that you need to use 70-200mm lens for the background to be filling your frame properly for single person portrait shots. When I try to use wide lenses like 24-70mm the background is not fully filling my frame and I have to use Photoshop to extend my background using healing and cloning tools.

This takes extra time so I am contemplating if I should get one more of this set so that I have a 10 feet wide coverage whereas right now I only have 4. 5 feet of usable width out of the 5 feet as 1/2 feet is lost in the edges not staying perfectly straight from top to bottom since this a cloth so it tends to bend inwards.

Several of my pro headshot friends said they have this X-Drop and love it. I put off buying it for about 2 years because I had been using one of those pop up backdrops made by a different manufacturer.

After my pop-up backdrop snapped/broke, I finally bought the X-Drop and I am SO HAPPY with it. First of all, it’s super easy to travel with — I stuck it in my suitcase when I traveled across country for a shoot.

I could not have done that w/my prior pop up back drop. Secondly, it assembles QUICKLY (I watched Westcott’s quick guide YouTube vid). Lastly, I love that the legs can be adjusted so that backdrop’s footprint is small/narrow and fits even the tightest of rooms.

Definitely recommend this great backdrop!.

If you’re on the fence about whether to get the MT or the standalone unit, it comes down to only one question: Do you really intend to shoot Green screen clips outside your office? If you’re worried about placement, I can tell you that I have 3 sets of small hooks in my office ceiling that allow me to easily move the green screen MT to different depths.

The unit is light weight and the quality of the workmanship earns it an A+. I was concerned about creases or wrinkles or shade. etc. but when you pull down the screen you have a crisp, clean screen that vanishes on camera.

You can use the screen without lighting, but you’ll fight shadows unless you switch from Chroma Key to Color key. I purposefully bought cheap lights to see how tolerant the screen really is. I picked up an inexpensive fluorescent light bank (like what you might hang in a garage), and put it on the ground about 1 foot in front of the screen, pointing more or less straight up.

I sit about 1 foot in front of that whole assembly and figured I’d get massive green bleed. Nope. Opened OBS and saw a pristine green screen, no bleed on my shoulders or clothes. The screen is a perfect green once illuminated, and it doesn’t kick back any undesirable green light.

Elgato includes a little rope to help you pull the screen down, but it takes little to no effort to pull it down, and when you retract it, the screen rolls up smoothly and quietly. I strongly recommend the product.

I only wish Elgato would have included some hanging hooks in the package. Fortunately I had some in my garage.

It does exactly what I needed. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now to provide clear virtual backgrounds during zoom calls. I have ceiling mounted mine on two hooks (not included, but Bunnings have a good range).

The mechanism is great; you can pull it down as far as you need and it locks itself. When you are done, you just pull down a little and it rolls itself up slowly. High quality product and works out the box.

You can fix it to a wall as an alternate to ceiling hooks. Fixings are not included.

As a way to enhance my content I made the purchase of the Green Screen MT. It was great being able to utilize this product to showcase more of the games that I was playing instead of my plain background in the area in which I use to stream in.

So, I will say this is a very good green screen, but to elaborate I would say it is good if you know without a doubt that you wont want to move it later on. I say that because due to its size, it has to be in a large area and sometimes it can be hard to find the right amount of space say within a home office as was the case with me.

I had no issues ever using this for a stream, but getting it initially setup took some time but that was more because of the lighting in the room rather than an issue with the Green Screen MT itself.

I have been using it for two years several times per week. It holds up well and there are no wrinkles and defects after this long and continued use. At first I found it hard to set up and dismantle alone.

But I got the knack of rolling and unrolling it vertically and now I set it up in a few minutes. I am very happy with this purchase.

I’ve been using a small, spring-frame greenscreen for a while but I wanted to create bigger scenes, so I picked this up. I was a little skeptical about how the fleece would work for keying, but it’s great! A very clever solution to the problem of wrinkles.

I’ve been getting clean keys even with minimal lighting, and I notice less spill than with a smooth screen.

I use this chroma key background outside. The material is lightly stretchable. so you can get it flat quite easily. Gaffers tape will stick to it. I use 2 or 3 of them between C-stands, with a 10 foot rod across the top, in the sleeve, to support it.

I use gaffers tape on the back side to bring the seams together. The color keys out easily in Premiere CC using the ultra key. You cannot use it outside in much of a wind as the material waves. I don’t have to be careful in folding it for storage as the wrinkles are easily pulled out when I erect it.

The only problem I’ve had is that when the material touches the ground it can pick up some debris that sticks to the material.

The 13′ Manfrotto Panoramic Background is easy to assemble, the storage bag is large enough that I can grow into it as I purchase more background colors, and it’s a great time savings tool. I was previously using the drapery style background which is more affordable, but not really when you consider the amount of time it takes to delete the background compared to this color consistent and evenly stretched green screen.

This was a great buy. I’m very happy with my purchase.

It is difficult to find a mobile backdrop to setup and takedown and look great every time I use it. Online, people are painting paper and walls and ironing cloth, but none of that works in a mobile situation.

This backdrop looks impressive, professional, stretches smooth, has an even color, and gives me an easy solution that I can pack up and carry away in a duffle bag. I have a positive experience with stretch screens for video projection and I prefer using stretchy material when I can.

But it isn’t opaque. Like any other front and rear projection screen a strong light source will show up if used behind the screen. When I used it in my living room there was a little daylight coming through from the two big windows behind it, so find an appropriate place to put it without a strong light behind it and you will be fine.

Searching the web I found nothing to compare to this background, but I was concerned mostly about the price. After receiving it, assembling it and using it I can tell by the design, the materials used, and the attention to detail why it was pricey.

The screen is at least 7′ tall and about 13′ wide (less a couple feet because it folds in on the sides). The whole setup inside the bag weighs less than 20 lbs probably 16 diameter and less than 4′ long.

It has 3 sections of framing and the individual pieces of the frames when not assembled are held together by an interior cord. The aluminum frame pieces assemble easily and 4 clamps attach 2 on each side of the middle frame and they hold the 3 frame sections together.

It took a little over 10 minutes to set it up the first time. The screen looks great assembled. It is stretchy, has reinforced edging and has clips sewn in to attach the screen to the frame with an addtional 6 inch green flap of material on the bottom to help blend with more green if I want to add more material to the floor.

I have not used it for video yet, but I will be checking that out next.

Whether or not you like this product depends on whether or not the following matter to you: 1) It’s the only product of its type on the market, at least in its price range 2) It does take some getting used and practice setting up and taking down.

Reading the manual is very helpful 3) Although it’s not absolutely necessary, keeping the cylindrical packing container it came with is pretty clutch for protective storage and transportation 4) It’s not light Pros: – Ships ready to use – Excellent performance with most apps that do chroma key matching, such as OBS Studio and Zoom with the green screen option enabled.

Although setup is intuitive, be sure to read the manual for the easiest order in which to do it, otherwise you might wind up fighting the device itself. Unless you keep it deployed all the time, expect setup and takedown to take about 5 minutes each.

This screen is the proper chroma key necessary for effective green screen FX. It is large and great for streaming on zoom so that you can have cleaner lines around your silhouette when streaming with a zoom background.

Set up is a little more challenging than more expensive options. Would not recommend for feet up because of the stand but definitely perfect for knee up streaming or tik toks.

This is an excellent green screen when you need a background for a virtual background when you stream video, or even if you want to hide stuff behind you. The price is fair, the quality is very good, but I dinged it a star because I find it clumsy to set up.

The tension is a little too tight, but it works well once ‘assembled. ‘ My kids use it more for their video game streaming. So much for dad’s work purchase.

I film in a tiny space, with tight shots, and want to be able to pack everything away when I’m done – so this is perfect! It still requires the usual Green Screen tricks – you need to have *even* lighting behind the subject to key well using the cleanest algorithms, for instance (I used two cheap LED studio lights off of Amazon – worked well enough).

Likewise, it’s small, so don’t expect to both get a wide shot, and be able to move your arms at all. Regardless, it does the job, and when you’re done, you can pack it away in a little circle that I can tuck away out of my brainspace (and I only need to watch the video on how to collapse it every third time).

It’s likewise sturdy, and mostly-wrinkle-free – I’ll probably have to replace it eventually, but I expect to get a few years out of it as long as I keep my cat away All and all – the use case it fits is narrow, but it fits that use-case *really well*.

The pros: The material (green screen cloth) is high quality, the metal frame is flexible but solid. The stand is a little on the flimsy side, but it works. The cons: Even when hung on its side (so that the long side is parallel the floor), this screen is not big enough to fill the area (field of view) of my iMac desktop webcam, even when it’s shoved up against the back of my chair.

Also, because it’s suspended by a single clamp, it tends to sway and does not hang completely flat, making it hard to light evenly, and creating areas on the sides where the virtual background doesn’t work.

Bottom line: If you are using a DSLR as a webcam and can zoom in, this green screen could work for you. But if you’re using a webcam with a wide field of view (as most are), it may not. I’m returning it for a multi-clamp and stand set-up with a green screen cloth that will hopefully stretch flat over a larger (6ft high, 10ft wide) area.

Really impressed with the product – I was skeptical, but it really is perfect for home video. The YouTube videos are essential for figuring out how fold it and store it. Works well horizontally and vertically.

And Adorama customer service was really great– I was worried I would not receive it by my deadline but the Adorama call center folks were smart and helpful — got through right away and I got my shipment in time.

Means a lot.

Pull up makes for handy storage. Pulled up screen added chroma key in OBS and was ready for background less streaming within minutes. Had tried other screens, this appears to be a sturdy design and well worth advertised price.

You can get cheaper but they will not be a wide or tall. I needed both. As with all greenscreens you need to ensure both you and green screen are lit. The pull up design allows you to setup for a stream quickly and easily and restore your studio or office just a quickly when finished.

This green screen is excellent for all my needs. It is not as expensive as other similar models yet the quality seems very good. The unit is well designed for portability and ease of use. This means it requires only a minute or two to set up or take down and store.

Overall, given its design and quality, I highly recommend it.

I love how easy it is to set up. However, the frame shows through the screen even when I hang a blanket over the back. Zoom is having trouble resolving the green screen with my virtual background, with some of the original background bleeding with moving pixels.

When I get a chance, I will try with better lighting and moving the screen further back. I currently use the camera on my laptop and do not intend to buy a better one.

Too bad I paid full price for a smoothly operating green screen that had a Pigment DEFECT. I expected a better quality screen for the money I paid. (My screen had a noticeable DEFECT where the green pigment was somehow missing/thinning on the left upper quadrant of the screen).

The green screen was perfect. I had to return it because my webcam was wide angle and I needed a larger screen. The chances of me purchasing from this company is slim to none only because it cost me $80 to return it.

I understand the 15% restocking fee but when you add that to the return shipping cost I have paid fr the screen again.

Very useful for working at home on zoom calls and whatnot. Works great to make virtual backgrounds solid and not flicker when you move.

I was skeptical, but the price was right. I was pleasantly surprised that the product fit on my guitar without any modifications. The product looks great and works better. The tuners turn easily and smoothly, but hold without slipping.

I would buy these again!.

Worked fine on my Yamaha classical guitar. Slightly different spacing of mounting screws which was not a problem. Better quality than the originals.

Thought I was purchasing the Blue/Green Collapsible Disc I clicked on the item, it was 6′ x 7′ listed as blue on one side and green on the other. Then I noticed the Size Selection area and chose the 6′ x 9′ version.

purchased it and a green one arrived, not green on one side and blue on the other. 6′ x 7′ has blue AND green. The 6′ x 9′ version is only available in green. Green works great, but with blonde models, blue is preferred as green shows up more in the fine areas of the hair.

Wanted Blue for that purpose. So, now I have “another” large green Chroma Key Screen. My fault for not verifying the description upon checking out. Also, part of the problem is with the images associated with the item, the photos show BLUE and a tiny Green sample.

It would be very helpful to show colors that the listed item is composed of. They are great quality, can be popped open and leaned against a wall, or as I use them, suspended from a horizontal bar that is supported from the studio ceiling.

Facilitates very easy portrait background swapping, or making PNG cutouts. I like it also for product photography so that I can alter background colors in post production. Works great with the Flashpoint Bi-Color LED panels.

I have two panels just illuminating the Lastolite Chroma Key backgrounds. Portable and very easy to fold up. You will need a stand unless you have a wall to put it against. The when situated horizontally (which is how I use it) it will sag slightly in the middle, so some support is necessary for wrinkle free setup.

I definitely recommend them. Large enough for video work also, I recommend the 6 x 9 size so you will have plenty of extra when photographing headshots or doing model comp card images.

Like most all Lastolite stuff, the background is a high quality piece with good material. I wanted the extra two feet over a 6 x 7 for shooting more than one person, but the extra size comes with a bit of a price.

It is harder to handle and, in my experience, not quite as easy to fold down (at least for one person). It took me 15 minutes the first time I tried, and about 5 the second time. The method I used the first time did not seem to work the second time so I ended up trying a different approach and it did work.

I found it helpful to watch a couple of YouTube videos that showed how to fold them. One of them used the technique I used the second time. One additional caveat. It’s large enough that if you need to orient it horizontally it’s not easy to raise it higher.

Because of its size, simply resting the background on a couple of chairs to raise it up doesn’t work well. Ended up using a background stand to hold it and raise it to the needed height. Much more stable and secure that way.

The up side is that when it pops open, the small wrinkles do not seem to impact its use (in my case, mostly stills). That’s easier than having to steam out wrinkles on a muslin cloth. Were it a bit easier to fold, I would have rated it 5 stars.

Remember when you had a projector and put up the screen? This is that type of screen. The size is perfect – I wanted to be able to use backgrounds in Zoom and I was getting too much glare from windows.

You still need decent lighting. Even folded up, the screen is large (or tall) so you need a place to park it when not in use.

Screen material is too thin. If there is any light or natural light behind it, it works poorly. I was really exited to get and use it, only to be Disappointed at the way the light makes picture flicker.

Also the person goes in and out of the picture just like you still don’t have a green screen. ☹️.

This screen is the perfect size for my home office. I wish I would have purchased this one first as it is easy to use a breeze to store.

I’m a professor who, since the onset of the pandemic, has been working from home in a shared office with my spouse. I purchased this item back in the summer of 2020 to help me make my lecture videos and it worked perfectly and filled my entire space so that I could get full shots of myself to overlay on top of my slides.

The addition of this green background for online student lessons creating wonderful green screen effects using both loom and zoom. The results were well received. I am totally pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend it.

The folds in the material when draped had very little effect on the visual effects.

I recently purchased an ‘Elgato Green Screen’ from Overclockers and I’m quite impressed! I placed my order on the Sunday and received my item on the Wednesday. The courier details were very clear and I could track my item without an hassle (DPD Next Day).

Upon receiving my item, it was heavily packaged and arrived in excellent condition. The item itself, comes in what looks to be a heavy duty case, with a handle for portable access. There are two feet, which fold out to support the base and a flip back lid (the two clips are very similar to that of a guitar case) which keeps everything nice and snug and secure.

The green screen itself, is made from very thick material and doesn’t let any light through whatsoever. There is a handle to pull the green screen up from the base and to also retract when you have finished using it.

On the otherside of the green screen, are retractable poles, which extend when the handle is either pulled up or pulled down. I also found when setting up the green screen with my broadcasting software (I use XSplit) and my webcam (Logitech C922), it was extremely easy to set up without any fuss.

Overall, I would highly recommend this item, as it is an excellent bit of kit and definitely worth it’s weight in gold for streamers and professionals alike!.

This product is great. It’s very convenient to pack it up and set up whenever you need to take the green screen with you. Just be careful when unlocking and locking up the case that the green screen goes in as well as how to open and close the green screen.

No assembly required, once you open the case, just carefully pull it up from the center and it works. When finished, push it down gently from the center and make sure the screen is locked back in the case before closing.

I’ve used it for streaming purposes and it has been flawless (set up appropriate lighting). Would recommend to others for sure. The price is obviously a bit steep so make sure you are prepared to purchase.

Wasn’t sure this was going to be a good buy or not. We were happy to see the quality of this product is excellent. The portability of this makes this a great product. We both work from home and our kids are in online school as they like the faster pace they can work at.

So we get a lot of use out of these for meetings ect. We dont get any weird look around us like we did without a greenscreen. I would recommend this if your in the market for a green screen that you can move.

They also have a version that hangs or can be wall mounted.

This is one of the best green screen backgrounds I’ve ever worked with – so I bought one. Has two seams in it but they are so smooth it doesn’t matter. 12×12 gives me the room to shoot back at nine feet and include a second camera for interviews.
