20 Best Great Room Ceiling Fans (2023 Updated)

I love the look of the fan. However, the receiver blew out as the fan was being installed. I didn’t want to mess with taking the fan down and sending it back. Instead I reached out the Minka Aire directly for warranty parts.

Hopefully the nee receiver will work. I gave the fan 4 stars because of the receiver.

I built a new house and this was my third fan, the first two from other stores and other brands, had motor issues. This fan was really strong, good quality and super quiet. I would highly recommend this fan, it gets an A+ for me in all areas.

I have read many reviews on this fan claiming there is not much air moved. I totally disagree. I installed it in my room w 16′ ceilings, a 4′ drop bar, and the fan moves plenty of air. The only thing I can think of for the bad review is the fan comes with a 1′ drop bar which does not allow enough air above the fan to move air.

With my set up, I LOVE IT!.

Fan is very nice – well constructed, well packed and clear instructions. I do wish that it had higher or stronger speeds. I have an older basic Hunter fan (std bedroom size) and it produces more down force air.

This fan looks great with our newly remodeled country style family room. It was installed two years ago, but had limited use because our pet cat was afraid of it. I tried it again and it now only starts and withing two seconds shuts off.

Batteries are new and nothing else is amiss. Having such a large difficult piece of equipment to deal with means I have to hire someone to either try and repair the fan or install another brand of fan.

Very disappointing.

The fan is rustic yet contemporary and makes an impressive statement in our great room. The fan is truly beautiful and really looks good in the space. Our great room, dining and kitchen are all one room and we have 10 foot ceilings.

It does not look too large at all.

Houzz worked with me to get the fan shipped for a client prior to their daughter’s wedding. It arrived sooner than expected and was installed quickly. It looks amazing in the outdoor silo they transformed into a bar.

They were so happy with quality and price. Just beautiful!!! Highly recommend!!.

The light is nice looking, so much so that I bought two. However, as others have mentioned, the light will randomly turn off and then back on. These lights are in my kids room, so the first few times it happened, they of course thought we had ghosts.

We’ve had an electrician come out to check the wiring for both lights, and he found no issues. We’ve changed the light bulbs, etc and the issue persist. After being frustrated, I came back to the reviews, and I see this is recurring issue with this light fixture.

Save yourself the trouble, and keep looking. This is not the one to buy!.

Honestly, this is the best looking fan we’ve seen on the market thus far — and quiet, too! While I wasn’t a fan of the remote switch since it’s in the bedroom, I’ve learned and adjusted. I think the remote could be made with a better design and higher quality materials.

It’s a sleek lighting fixture with a dinky-feeling remote, so that’s a little bit of a bummer. I saw a review saying that the light is dim, and that’s true for 60w bulbs; however, if you replace it with a higher wattage light it lights up the room just fine.

We purchased smart lightbulbs and have really loved the ability to customize the lighting in the room based on the time of day. Well worth the additional investment.

I’ll break this down into a few different categories, as each deserves its own review. Aesthetics – the fan looks great. It is an appropriate size for a medium-sized bedroom, although the light part does hang down a little low.

If you have a very low ceiling, you may want to consider something else, but the blade width is appropriate. I’ve also received compliments on the fan, as it is a bit unique and more “fun” than most alternatives.

We purchased the grey one, and it is a nice balance with the light wood fan blades. Installation – very easy install. I like how simple the light canopy fastens with some adhesives provided. The only trick that I had was that my prior fan was set up with two switches.

One controlled the light and the other controlled the fan. The wiring for this fan is not set up that way. The fan and the light run to the same switch Lighting – the light does not give off much light at all.

You will likely need to purchase higher a higher lumen bulb if you want more light. I did this and it is much improved. One frustrating feature is the dimmer on the remote. In order to dim the light, you have to hold the light bulb button on the remote control instead of using an up/down switch or slide dimmer.

This makes it harder to tell if you are at peak brightness because the dimmer just cycles (hold down and it gets brighter then gets darker then brighter again). Fan – fan is very smooth and quiet. I have other fans and my sense is that the smooth operation is a sign of the Hunter brand quality.

This ceiling fan is beautiful and an elegant addition to the den at our house. I love the crystals it’s almost like a combination of a ceiling fan and chandelier. We love it.

It arrived sooner than expected, and when we unpackaged the product, it was more lovely in person. The quality far exceeded the price of this hidden gem, and it matches our other lights just well enough to create a cohesive space.

While I like the style of the product- this items fan does not work. I contacted the seller several times and have not received any correspondence from the seller or Houzz to rectify the issue for return or exchange.

Totally disappointed. Do not buy.

Installation was pretty straight forward. It is a large fan, so it is pretty heavy and awkward to hang. I hung it without the blades on. Made it a little difficult to attach the blades but I thought more manageable.

Runs quiet and seems to move the air well. I will know more in the summer. No wobbling which is important. Quality is good. I believe it will be just what I needed in our 20×24 living room to move the air.

It’s an average ceiling fan that does it’s job. Nothing special. It also doesn’t provide enough light to illuminate the average room size. I do believe that for what it does, that the price should be a little less.

However, I am pleased with it overall and would buy it again if the price is around $30.

A nice quiet fan, evidently of good quality. Slightly more difficult to install than some fans, primarily because of the ceiling-hugging design, but well worth the effort. The 3 speeds are well chosen.

The dome shaped lamp has a replaceable bulb which doesn’t evenly illuminate the frosted glass lens and is not terribly bright. Extra hardware was included. I can’t imagine any comparable fan being any better than this one, especially factoring in the remarkable price.

Because I’m extra cautious, I added 4 extra screws to the mounting bracket, so the electrical box isn’t the only support for the fan. I’m very happy so far. If the fan is durable, and I have no cause to think it won’t be, this product is the answer!!.

Excellent value for the price !! Looks expensive and elegant and is very quiet and honestly I couldnt be happier !! As far as lasting and performing well over time I have no idea , but from what Ive saw so far Im highly certain it will hold up fine anyone questioning whether to purchase one of these let me make it easy for u JUST BUY IT !! youll be glad u did I run mine every night n its great.

1st Fan: “Clicking” or “Ticking” sound when running fan for more than a few hours at any speed. Clicking noise varied with speed of the motor. – No, it wasn’t the pull-chains hitting the glass lamp globe or a loose fan blade or any other installation related problem.

2nd Fan (warranty replacement): Same problem as 1st. Diagnosis: Poor lubrication (from factory) causing bearing noise in motor assembly. Solution: Remove fan from ceiling and carefully apply 3-in-1 Electric Oil to top and bottom bearings Result: A quiet fan that has remained running quietly for the last week!.

This is a great fan that moves a lot of air. Rubber mounts, well-balanced blades and a shroud over the motor make it very quiet in operation. Assembly and installation was quite easy as we have an older home with the outlet box securely anchored to the joists.

New homeowners may not be so lucky. The fan blades are reversible white/brown. Our recommendation is to use the white colour. The only flaw in the design is the candelabra base for the light bulb. The fan comes with a 60-watt incandescent bulb but an energy-efficient LED with a high wattage is difficult to find.

That reduces the value of the product somewhat.

Cut my a great deal on a new ceiling fan. Quick delivery. Great price. Easy assembly and installation. Keeping Barnie cool in his puppie dog room. He is just chillin now. With smile from hear to hear.

Glad this deal was offered to me at an even lower price then first was asking. Changed the globe to clear old one had around the house. Used wood grain side of blades. Looks and works great.

Beautiful sleek design, easy to install, quiet and evenly spins. Lol e the wood look choice we picked. Different LED light settings are a great option I’ve never seen before! This was the perfect size for a very large bedroom.

We’ve never needed it on high to cool it down. The lowest setting is a very nice low hum for soothing background noise while sleeping. LOVE it! And the remote control??!! So cool! Only issue (which isn’t really an issue) is that when you turn the fan on it starts in the high setting of the three speeds.

You have to wait for it to start before you can click down to the middle setting, and again wait for that to start before you want to click down to the lowest setting. So you can’t just turn the fan on and want to immediately get down to the lowest setting without having to wait a few seconds.

It took us a couple days to realize what we were doing wrong. It’s really not a problem at all, just something to get used to. I’d buy this again and again!.

Installed the ceiling fan and had issues with the remote control and and intermittent operation. Not knowing which component would be at fault, I picked up another unit and started troubleshooting which part could have been defective.

Long story short, both units and still the same problem. Remote turns on / off fan intermittently as reported by numerous other purchasers. I am amazed how a product like this can be made and sold. I even checked the homes wiring voltage to make was the fan.

Both units are heading back to the store.

I installed this myself after watching the 12 min video on YouTube which I highly recommend. It’s perfect for my 10×12 room with 8 foot ceiling. On the low speed it moves quite a lot of air. I don’t imagine I will use any speed other than the low setting.

The light is brighter than the light fixture it replaced so I wouldn’t want it any brighter. There is a slight but detectable hum on the low speed which is not a deal-breaker. I would rate it at “very quiet”.

I work in the electrical industry and I see lots of different styles of electrical products. It amazed me to finally see a well design electrical device. The wiring install is easy, there is lots of room for wiring, something that has always bugged me about devices these days, having big hands is a pain.

The blade install is such a good idea, my wife can easily reverse the blades if she so wishes, no dis-assembly required just to change the style. Such a good idea! Pros: Fan moves tons of air on medium or high, is very quiet for such a priced fan, great light when 3 NORMAL BASE lights are used (Don’t need to settle for a 400lumen bulb, I can stuff an 800 lumen in here no problem, A19 base!) and it looks really nice.

Cons: Literally the only fault I find with this fan is it shakes a bit when at high speed, but it moves so much air on medium that it’s not a problem!.

This fan is nice but the provided bulbs are not very bright for a kitchen. Increasing the light output (lumens) is not possible without exceeding the manufacture’s limitations. To make matters worse, finding the original bulbs or their equivalent is an issue.

The original bulbs put out 800 lumens of light with 6. 5 watts of power. The manual states that replacement bulbs must NOT exceed 6. 5 watts. That rules out the use of the so called 60 watt equivalent bulbs that are rated from 7 watts to 9 watts.

There is nothing available (that I am aware of) at Home Depot that is rated at 6. 5 watts with an 800 lumens output. It would seem that Home Depot is selling this fan/light but does not sell the original replacement bulb or an equivalent.

The closest available with 800 lumens output has a 7 watt power rating and that exceeds the Hampton requirements for this fan. Another thing to consider is that the original bulbs so not have a built in converter as do most LED bulbs.

Does that mean regular LED bulbs, with a built converter, should not be used in this fan? If not, the availability of correct bulbs is an issue.

I had bought one of these ceiling fans before and decided to buy one for another room. Packaging was terrible with screws and washers loose in the box. Luckily I was able to find them all otherwise I’d have returned it.

It was a cheap fan ($99) but I still would’ve expected not to have to deal with this kind of mess. I suspect this is another Chinese knockoff. !!!.

Bought this fan and was originally very happy. Installed fan and it worked perfectly…. For a while. Unit was installed in basement recreation room and very seldom used… maybe turned on 12 times in the course of 15 months.

Then suddenly…. The light turned itself on (there is no switch on this circuit and the remote was in a drawer). The light would then proceed to cycle: Low, Mid, High, Low, Mid, High…. Continuously. We tried turning it off via the remote… the light would not turn off, then would suddenly turn off – musty to turn itself back on again right away.

It continues to cycle the light levels without ever turning off. Had to disconnect and remove from service. Very disappointed.

PROS: The Fan is very helpful – I placed it where a light fixture used to be near my condo’s smoke detector. The smoke detector is very sensitive and every time we open our oven, it beeps! With the fan on, the air is drawn down to the floor and away from the smoke detector.

No more beeping! Yay! Other bonus – you don’t see the fan blades because they are hidden inside the light fixture part of the product. CONS: The light doesn’t have a dimmer capability and is very bright.

So, we don’t use the light very often.

I bought this and had it installed. It was beautiful and the fan worked great. HOWEVER, about 3 months after installation the light would turn itself on while the fan was running. Or the fan would turn off by itself.

If you turned the fan on to full, it would down shift to minimum speed. All the reviews on this fan say the same thing looks nice, but doesn’t work. We took it down and returned it to store. Would not recommend.

I absolutely love this ceiling fan! We still have the older models in our home and I’m so excited to be able to replace them with this gorgeous new one. My Husband has not gotten a chance to install it yet, but I wanted give my feedback to let others know how much I love it! I plan to replace all if my ceiling fans with this model.

Oh and being able to control it with a remote is so nice!! I’ve never liked having to pull those little chains on the old models and trying to remember which one is the light and which one is the fan! I’m definitely happy with this fan!.

I put this fan in my living room. Luckily I already had a ceiling mount installed(I definitely recommend the extra support for this fan). It’s not super heavy when installing but I still had someone to help me hold it up while I screwed in the screws that keep it in place.

The instructions were easy to understand and it was a breeze to install. I love that it has a remote so I don’t have to worry about a million switches for it in the dark. The color is neutral enough to match any interior.

This is a great fan for big rooms and definitely helps circulate the air.

It’s not letting me upload a picture it’s saying the file is to large. With that being said this fan is beautiful. We redid our living room and went with a dark wood look. It matches perfectly. It’s big the light is bright and it’s convenient with the remote.

My husband installed it and didn’t seem to have any issues doing it. It is very large and produces a very nice breeze. Definitely a great choice.

This fan was easy to hang. I needed to add an official ceiling fan mount but was able to reuse the existing opening. Hanging the crystals was a bit tedious, but a couple of family members helping made it go relatively quickly.

There were a few broken crystals, but they send spares so it was fine. The fan is quiet and works really well. I ordered this fan because it claims to be ‘Warm 3000k light’. I’m not sure that it’s actually 3000k, it seems whiter but it is ridiculous bright and cannot be dimmed.

We purchased this fan for the master bedroom in hopes it would replace the Hunter fan that was not very quite and made noises even on low. plus we wanted more of a design element and. well, something different.

(tired of the 5 bladers) My main goals in replacing our existing fan were. unique design, slow speed, low air flow and QUIET. We received the fan and it was well packed and the blades protected, however the extensions included in the kit were not long enough for our installation (12 ft ceiling) so I ordered an 18″ extension from Build.

com to match the fan. Was pleased the extension was in stock, matched the paint color of the fan and shipped out promptly. The ceiling and fan install was easy. The fan is controlled by a 4 speed switch that replaces the traditional on/off wall switch on a decor wall plate (the ones with the large square holes).

The speed switch was white in color (not mentioned in the specifications). Because the fan does not have a light kit I had an extra wall switch left over (that used to operate the light on the Hunter fan) so I wired the extra wall switch in series with the speed control switch so I can simply turn on/off the fan (with one switch) and leave the speed control alone (which replaced the position of the original fan switch).

Either way would work fine as a single switch position is all that is needed for the fan speed control. Now for the test. the first test was a success on all speeds. The fan moves a considerable amount of air on Hi and a gentle breeze on the 4th low speed.

We are very pleased as the fan does just what we wanted. we leave it on the lowest speed and it provides just enough of a gentle breeze at night without too much air flow to be annoying (the Hunter low speed was not low enough for me).

And the fan looks cool. FYI the low speed is about 35 RPM, the 2nd low speed is about 45 RPM. We just leave it on Low Low 24/7 now and it gently moves air keeping the room from hot spots during the summer days and invites us to take a nap on a regular basis.

LOL. An installation note: The fan blades in this fan come from the bottom of the motor and as a result are 6″ lower than a traditional Hunter fan with a light kit. So after some measuring we ordered an extension down rod that was 6″ shorter than the existing fan (had a 24″, ordered an 18″) and after the install the blades were in the same position as the previous fan and it was visually well positioned from the ceiling.

Caution: If you do not have a high ceilings this may not be the fan for you, because the blades are 6″ lower than a traditional fan. We were concerned about the fan noise as well. We were pleased that the fan on any speed, especially the 2 lower speeds is barely noticeable.

There is a slight hum, but not enough to complain about. There is no bearing noise, no clicking or clacking and the fan runs well balanced as assembled. We did not need to use the balance kit (enclosed).

Cons: Cant think of any other than you need a higher than 8 ft ceiling. Great conversion piece and an extremely functional fan. We would buy another one again. ))) Oh. PS, Build. com is a classy operation, great service and shipping.

We just installed the fan and were excited to turn it on. to our surprise. the fan moves incredibly slow, even at high speed! Because the motion is so slow it makes the fan look like something is wrong.

On a positive note, it does move the air around.

Puts out the exact correct amount of air flow , totally silent ! Bought 4 of theses , nice looking and a show stopper for looks ! Would buy again !

The fan is great. Went up fairly easily, Works. except LED light does not. Not an issue since it was not needed. This may have been a “gray market” item since it was labeled as from a major “big box” building supply store.

I like the 120 inch size which works well in the large screen room where it now hangs. No shipping problems or other issues.

We purchased this fan recently for our new condo bedroom, mainly for style and looks, and to replace a noisy fan that was there when we moved in. I must say installation was easy, and the fan works as good as it looks.

super quiet and moves a lot of air, even a low speed. I had none of the issues the previous reviewer had with the blade arms being out of alignment, and there is no wobble whatsoever. Also I did not lubricate the ball joint with Vaseline as suggested, and yet there are no ‘clicking’ or other sounds when the fan is on.

The dimming LED light is a bonus too. low energy but lights well when needed. It’s not as ‘robust’ as some fans I have installed in the past, like Monte Carlo, but I have no complaints so far and I would definitely recommend this ceiling fan.

Overall it’s ok. Light is obnoxiously bright, the remote that comes with it controls the lights on/off with no dimmer adjustment. The box says you can dim it. so you have to purchase a dimmer switch and wire it in to be able to control the lights brightness.

Fan has three speeds controllable by remote. The fan direction can only be controlled by a switch on the top of the fan. There is also extremely limited room for wiring the remote receiver and on an angled roof you will have to move the receiver outside the box.

However it is very well balanced and works great once you have it set up. Just plan to wire a dimmer switch on the light circuit Don’t be mislead by the box.

fans move a good amount of air, they are quiet, But I bought two of them and neither of the remotes work. Have to take the batteries out and put them back in every day or none of the buttons work. One of the fans needed me to push it by hand to get it up to speed the other day, If this happens again I will be contacting support.

Very nice modern fan, perfect size for 12 x16 office with 10ft ceilings. Easy to use remote with dimmer functions for the light and fan. I’m very pleased with it. Very quite also..

Love it! We got the white. Installs easily. We actually put this in a walk in closet and it’s perfect. Fan is quiet. Bulbs are a little dim for the room but we didn’t install a dimmer switch so they may be able to be brightened.

Easy to get different bulbs if we want. Remote works great.

We have 2 units in an auditorium and it absolutely changed everything for us. The room is approximately 150′ x 100′ with 40′ ceiling. We constantly struggled to keep the temperature the same on the floor and in the balcony where it could vary as much as 15°.

Our Big A Fans solved the problem completely. And while some others have mentioned noise of the controller our units make absolutely zero sound. It is truly hard to describe just how effective these fans are.

We give them every possible thumbs up.

This is an amazing fan. It moves a lot of air as they say and is very well made. Only reason I give it a 4 is because when we started it ran blowing up and we thought down should have been normal. Also had to do some digging to find out reversing 2 wires fixed the problem.

It was installed in a 40x80x16′ shop and we think it will do the job very good job this summer, Lighting Direct was great to work with and outperformed their estimated ship date by weeks. Their customer service was extremely helpful.

Love the fan. Works great. Doesn’t make any extra noise. Color of the blades is great just wished blades were a bit thicker. We got same fan for kids bedrooms and that grey is way different more like zebra color but blades are thicker:) when you get one thing you can’t have the other.

Overall very happy with the purchase.

Beautiful and quiet with a high-quality look. Light isn’t super bright but it’s okay. It is a bit oversized for our room, but because it is such a minimal design, it is not overwhelming.

It’s pretty close to what I expected. The drum is larger than I expected (but still looks excellent), and the difference between settings is only slight (but so far has met our needs). Overall we are happy with the design, look and feel.
