20 Best Grates For Gas Grill (2023 Updated)

Only opportunity I experienced with this transaction was the packaging for shipping. The box was very flimsy and arrived with more packing tape than cardboard. If the contents weren’t cast iron in its own box I am confident it would have been damaged.

I almost took a picture of the box before I opened it due to how it arrived. Love the cast iron option over the prior replacement. I will be very sad when this series is no longer supported. Received this grill as graduation gift twenty years ago.

Time to replace our 5 year old grates and flavorizer bars. Interesting to see another review mentioning grilling on the FLAT surface of the grates which left me confused as I have been grilling on the side that’s angled A side up for the last 5 years.

I truly love the way the cast iron in the grills distribute heat, the wide, flat surface supports food so that nothing falls through the grates, and the porcelain coat keeps food from sticking. These replace the original grates on my grill seven years ago.

The best you can get. I never want to go to stainless steel grill grates.

I’ve owned my Commercial series, True-Infrared Grill for several years. It works! I used to have flare-ups all the time with other gas grills–water spray bottle in one hand while I juggled tongs and burner controls with the other.

Never got consistent cooking results, but I did get consistently burned food. Received my Char-Broil grill as a Fathers Day gift. It must’ve been a message! From that day onward, it put the chillin’ back in grillin’! I could now enjoy grilling and creating properly grilled food.

For me, it was the elimination of flare-ups due to the design of the True-Infrared diffuser plates. The perforated peaks focus convective heat on the precisely aligned grill grate webs while the valleys drain away all combustible fats and oils.

The result is even heating and no flare-ups! I can adjust the burners to the heat settings I want and leave them there without sweating the lookout’s cry: “Your grill’s on fire!”.

I have had this Commercial Tru-Infrared grill for 8 years now and the only thing I’ve had to replace are the grates and emitter plates. I have not had any difficulty keeping the grill clean but it gets a lot of use every summer and eventually you will have rust to scrape while cleaning.

I replaced the grates and emitters twice in eight years and the grill cover once. Overall this has been the best grill I have owned, beating out my previous Weber that cost more money. This set is for the pre 2015 Tru-Infrared grill.

The newer grill models use a smaller grate and emitter that won’t fit in my grill from 2014.

This is ABSOLUTELY the best grill I’ve ever owned! I love the way the infra red cooks. No direct flame exposure, so NO FLARE UPS, like with a traditional gas grill! You can get it screaming hot, for a great sear, but the infra red “magic” still keeps the food juicy, and moist.

There is a major issue with the porcelain coated cast-iron grates, though. The begin to rust, right through the porcelain, and you will have to replace them much sooner than you should have to! To their credit, Char-broil knows this is an issue, and they are replacing them…NO QUESTIONS ASKED! (Costs $5.

The perfect way to get steak house quality sear marks! This grate definitely boosts your grilling game! It’s easy to use and easy to clean up! It’s flat, so it’s incredibly easy to store! This sear grate set has been my favorite accessory for my Weber charcoal BBQ kettles. I love this for lots of reasons: 1) the sear grate is cast iron, but it’s porcelain enamel coated, making it easier to wash! You can use soap and not worry about it ruining the seasoning like standard cast iron cookware.

2) The porcelain enamel coating means it won’t rust if you leave it out or put it away wet. 3) the sear grate is small enough to fit in your kitchen sink for cleaning. 4) the plated steel grate bars, while not stainless steel, are much thicker than the other, standard cooking grates; they have to be to support the heavy sear grate.

5) Hinged grates near the handles make adding charcoal or smoking materials easy. 6) So does the removable center! 7) There’s enough room to cook/sear four pork chops, for example, then put them around the outer edge to keep warm or bake (if coals are heaped in the center).

The kit has become the envy of my friends who also have Weber charcoal grills. While it may seem expensive, when you take it out of the box you’ll probably feel it’s actually worth MORE than you paid.

It’s great for cooking wings. Use charcoal baskets directly under center with nothing in the center (left open). Place wings or other stuff around the outer perimeter. The only thing I don’t like is that you need a tool (not included) to lift the center piece if you want to add more coal.

I’ve been using my cooking tongs to help me do that, but I wish it had a little hook or something. My last note is that it irritates me when reviewers give a PRODUCT a poor rating because they had a problem with the store page/description.

You do know that you’re review rating is ONLY for the product so others can decide at a glance if it’s worth their time. right?.

I have only used this tool once but it worked beautifully searing perfectly a large fillet of Ahi ( Yellow fin Tuna). I sprayed the grate with a non stick spray before using it and the fish did not stick as I turned it over.

I will try meat on the next use. Based on how it worked with fish, I believe meat will be easy to sear perfectly.

The porcelain steel cooking grid replacement worked wonderfully on my old Weber grill. It was the exact part as the original and functions the same way with its nonstick surface. My grill is coming back to life and looking like new once again.

First it doesnt fit and its of inferior quality, not never associated with Weber. $59.99 true Weber replacement at Home Depot and I paid $40 plus with shipping. And return process is far under par.

I originally bought my Spirit E-210 with the cast iron cooking grates. After 12 years it was finally time to replace them. I got these grates because they were the only ones available for my model now.

I can say without a doubt that if these grates came with the grill originally, I would not have bought another weber. The metal grates don’t hold heat very well, so it’s hard to get that good seer on the meat that I could with the iron grates.

They do not cook nearly as well as the iron grates did. They have started to sag in the middle of the grates and they are less than a year old and used a couple of times a month.

Even living in central Penna. , I use our Weber grill year round. Our Weber grill is 19 years old. I have to replace certain parts, like the ignitor box, flavor bars, warming tray and cooking grates every 4-5 years.

This grill has the original burners!! The reason I have replace the cooking grates is it gets to the point that they start warping from pressing so hard to get they clean and after 4-5 years, it is hard to get them clean.

I’m glad that Weber still have parts. Some of the parts available from other suppliers are not as good.

These grates are thin and cheap feeling. They are not the original cast iron grates I assumed I was getting which lasted somewhere around 8-10 years. I can’t seem to find anything else to fit my spirit e-210.

I understand things don’t last forever. I was expecting something close to the original. If I had ordered these from a different source I would be convinced they were counterfeit knock offs. I’m guessing given the quality of these, I’ll be buying a new grill when these wear out instead of another replacement.

That feels like it will be sooner than later given that these are just enameled thin metal like the ones found on low quality grills.

What I received was beautiful! The new parts totally rejuvenated our grill. I was even called to let me know I probably had ordered the wrong size grill cover, and was able to correct that mistake on the spot.

It looks like my orginal grill grates. Which ave lasted over 5 years. I only bought them because I was looking for an electronic igniter module. My orginal module stopped working. Parts from manufactor were not available.

I bought generic and saw the grates.

I bought these grill replacements for an almost new BBQ whose grills were already rusting after one summer, despite a cover on the BBQ whenever not in use. The grills are quite heavy and well made, fit to the exact size, and I suspect will long outlive the BBQ, which is okay because this is a very common size.

Don’t want to sound like a commercial, but you bought a good grill for a reason. There are a lot cheaper grills out there, but you spent the money for your Weber. I was also a big believer in the cast iron grates that came with the grill, but all cast iron grates need replaced in a few years.

I’m on at least my third set. (damned Weber grills never wear out 🙂 ) I never wanted wire grates, they all were lightweight and cheap, cast iron holds and distributes heat better, etc. These guys changed my mind.

These are heavy. Boxed, a pair is 23 1/2 pounds! The cast iron ones say 14ish pounds. Definitely enough mass to hold and distribute the heat, provide great grill marks, etc. 304 stainless should not corrode, and these should outlast the cast iron easily two to one, which makes the price reasonable as well.

Quality grates for your quality grill. Buy them.

These stainless steel grates are working great in our 18-year old Weber Silver Series C gas grill. The old grates deteriorated and I couldn’t justify the cost of the OEM Weber grates for a grille as old as ours, so decided to give these a try.

I was surprised how well they were made for the cost. They fit our grille perfectly and have been working great for several months now. The grates are stainless steel, but it is 304 grade, so they can develop surface rust after using them, but then, so did the old grates they replaced.

I just hit them with the grille brush and paper towel dampened with vegetable oil, then let them preheat before each use and they are then ready to go. Overall, I think the were a good value for what I paid here on GrillPartsReplacement – Online BBQ Parts Retailer.

I had contemplated trashing my current Weber grill which is 10years old but still looks good on the outside…. then I found this website. I got these new grates to replace my originals which had rusted out…these things are SOLID, super fast shipping and perfect fit.

I think I’ll get some new flavorizer bars and maybe burners next. Might as well totally makeover my old faithful grill since new ones are $1400…. I’ll just keep getting parts from these guys and make her last another decade!.

I have a Weber Genesis II E-315 grill, and I wanted to give it a little more versatility. After a bit of browsing around the Internet, I settled on adding a plancha style/flat top griddle to the one side of my gas grill.

I looked at several possibilities and decided on the Arteflame Grill Grate Replacement, 18 7/8 X 12 7/8. It should be the correct size to directly replace one of my grill’s original cast iron grates.

I placed my order and included a SS Scraper for cleanup and a Crisbee Puck for seasoning. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of shipping, much less than I expected. The whole setup came in less than $100, shipping included.

Shipped out in three days and arrived about a week later. I opened it up and, WOW, was I impressed. This is one hunk of carbon steel, about 3/8 thick, and the overall finish is very good. My gas grill needed a major cleanup, so when that was accomplished, I was ready to see how it fit.

Placed the Arteflame Insert on the right side so that the raised edges were to the back and right side against the grill tub. The fit was perfect on the Weber Genesis II three-burner. Front to back fit was right where the original cast iron grill sits.

I liked the option of being able to sit on top or for a full replacement of the original grate. The only issue I encountered was when the griddle was pushed fully to the right in contact with the grill tub; the front edge of the lip on the right side prevented the hood from closing completely.

I moved the Atreflame Insert about a half-inch to the left, and the hood closed completely. Now time to begin the seasoning process season. Pretty easy but takes a while to complete several rounds of the process.

It went well, now have a nice black patina and ready to COOK. I have only had the opportunity to cook a few times on the Insert, but what I have done has been great. Quesadillas are perfectly heated and browned; the grand-kids and wife love them.

Burgers just like the ones on the old flat top at the local drive-in I worked at when I was in high-school. With only one of the burners on full under the Arteflame Insert, I can achieve a screaming-hot surface to get a sear and then lower the flame to complete the cook.

A little experimentation and practice should result in a cooking surface that makes a great gas grill even better. I can’t speak on the fit for any other grill, but it fits the Weber Genesis II three-burner to a tee.

No reason it wouldn’t work on the Weber models with the 4th sear burner as well. I would highly recommend the Arteflame Grill Grate Insert. It fits great, performs well, is competitively priced, expands the grill’s usefulness, and Made in America, what’s not to love.

We can’t recommend this product enough. It is the absolute best addition to our yard. Snack g breakfast, burgers, BD’s Mongolian grill night. Pizza oven is our new favorite and all our friends. Cooking burgers and dogs for group of 30 so easy.

We only have the roaring accessory to try. Love it so much we purchased the plan ha accessory for our gas grill. Do it! Thank you for the new box for smaller fires, that’s our next to try, it arrived last week.

This is quite literally, the best addition I have ever purchased for our gas grill! I had been looking for years, for a flat griddle surface to use on top of my wire grill grates. Nothing worked because the material was not thick enough and they all warped.

The Arteflame flat surface griddle is plain and simply phenomenal! It brings out the flavor of whatever you are grilling and keeps the moisture in. And, the best part is that the surface doesn’t warp and is easy to clean.

For the first time in my 40 adult years, I purchased a Weber grill. I was tired of replacing grills every 2-3 years and based on quality reported on Weber grills, I decided to giver Weber a try. Fast forward.

after having my Weber a couple of years, the grates and flavor bars are rusting. I take great care of my grill. I grill 2-3 times per month and the grill is cleaned after each use. It is covered with my Weber grill cover when not in use and tucked under the overhang of my house.

I am left scratching my head as to why I spent so much money on a grill that has lasted no longer than the much less expensive brands. I love the way my grill cooks, and the outside of my grill looks almost new! I am very disappointed in the grates and flavor bars.

After reading other comments, it appears this is an on-going issue that needs to be addressed. If I have to replace my grates and flavor bars every couple years, it is more cost effective just to purchase a least expensive grill every two years.

Please do not tell me about cleaning and care as I have continually done that. I want a solution so I can keep my Weber for the many years I planned on.

A very nice grate slightly undersized. I had to use ingenuity to attach it over the worn grate. It is a well made item, but be aware of the slight undersizing.

The grate was the proper size but the spacing was quite a bit longer than the old grate which allowed my lava rock to fall through. I had to put my old very rusted grate on top of the new grate to keep the lava rock from falling through.

Needed to replace grill 16/24, this item was too small. Item was well wrapped and excellent quality metal, also, has square corners, be careful if your grill needs round corners.

I was very skeptical of replacement products, especially the cheap imitations that are so hard to distinguish. Succinct, accurate ad with exact measurements led me to pull the trigger on this product.

Solid stainless rods are a big improvement over the stock grill grate. Food doesnt stick neatly as much and is much easier to clean. The one I bought for home is still like new. Had to get another one of these for the vacation home.

The burner is of good quality & construction. My bad, I bought the wrong size burner for my Weber – this one looks the same as my old one, just about 2/3 smaller. That being said, it is a quality material burner.

The grates fell apart less than 7 months from purchase. I used the grill 1 to 2 times a week. probably no more than 40 times. Used high heat often. can’t believe how they fell apart. But disappointment!.

Purchased as replacement for Weber porcelain coated which rusted out after 9 years. Shipped quickly. Packaged well. Fits great. Ive only had them for a week and one cook. Well see how they hold up over time.

I ordered on the Weber website to insure I receive Official Weber replacement grates. The grates came in a generic box with no printing or ID. The grates look like the original but they are lighter. I weighed my original grates and the new ones.

The new ones are 1 pound lighter than the original. Time will tell if they are as good as the original ones. Shipping was timely and they arrived in good condition.

These enameled steel grates look good when new. Soon enough though they start to char and erode along the under edges. Holes appear from burn through and eventually widen. Meats stick to the hot surface of the bars, and then is hard to clean.

I think the chrome plated grates may be a wiser buy, though they probably don’t spread the heat at evenly. still, I love my 25 year old Weber Genesis grill. I use it several times a week, and everyone is amazed at how new it looks.

It is great that I can replace these grates on our old Genesis Silver B gas grill. ( maybe for last time). But, the grates that arrives ( although they fit) are MUCH thinner and lighter weight. Very disappointing.

I figure they will last 1/3 of the time that the last ones did which were replaced about 6 years ago. Cost reduced materials but the price is still high. I feel taken advantage of by Weber.

I use this in a cast iron cauldron for a fire pit. It works very well for this. It keeps the coals off of the air holes that are drilled below it, allowing the fire to burn without much smoke.

the quality of this item is great. i should have read deeper into description though. listed as 18” but really is 181/4”. my fault but a bit of alteration (grinding) should fix it. again shame on me for not paying better attention to details.

This is a heavy duty grill grate with an emphasis on heavy. fit my big green egg fine and works like a cast iron grate should. I expect it to last many years.

Purchased this 18-inch grate to replace my 18-inch diameter cooking grill (#70605). Very surprised to learn that the replacement grate was actually 17. 5 inches in diameter and did not fit my legacy Weber Outrider Grill.

The replacement grate does not fit in the top of the cooker and teeters unsteadily below the interior lip of the grill. It will be necessary to modify the grill by adding additional supports to bring it up higher to get it to fit.

Very unsatisfactory Weber. Actual diameter of your replacement part would have been helpful.

This grate is a “great” idea for either adding charcoal to the grill at the beginning of barbecuing or adding more charcoal later. At the beginning of barbecuing it works especially well with Weber’s charcoal baskets which allow you to keep the charcoal on one side of the grill and indirect cook on the other.

My only complaint is that they could have hinged the grate closer to the middle to provide a bigger opening to add the charcoal–sometimes i miss and a briquet winds up on the table or the grass. I own two of these and will never go back to a grate that’s unhinged!.

Very helpful to be able to request a replacement bowl that warped and bent. The 10 year warranty is something they are honoring in the weber bowls at this point in time August 2022. Customer service was helpful and quick at evaluating my pictures and talking to me about the warranty.

The bowl shipped fast and it was easy to reassemble. You call them, give them the number on the vent circle and send pictures and they evaluate ob the phone with you. No waiting for someone on the internet to evaluate your picture taking abilities.

I am looking forward to receiving this replacement grate for my Charbroil charcoal grill that was received as a wedding gift back in 1973. The overall grill is in great shape and the original grate finally needs replacing after all these years.

This grill lasted much longer than the marriage and one of the few items that I was able to take with me. That woman never wanted to cook. I expect the same quality from the replacement grate and based on my experience with my grill, would highly recommend Char-Broil grills to anyone who grills out frequently.

I was sick of the old model grills on the coleman bbq that were flat and had tiny holes. These grills were a mess and bristles off of bbq brushes would not fall through the grate which is very dangerous.

I could not find replacement grills other than the expensive coleman ones which I did not liketo start with. Instead, I have laid this ontop of my old grills making my cooking surface cleaner and safer.

Lots of room for bristles to fall through, is clean and fits the bbq perfectly. Definately recomend.

Decent replacement grate. With “slider” expanded fully, there’s a gap toward the back of the grill that food could potentially fall through – hoping one of my brats doesn’t roll off into the abyss sometime! Also is able to slide left and right, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any danger of the grate falling.

Overall, a good replacement for the stock grates, which were 5x the price for a set of three.

Very disappointed in quality of my new webber cooking grate. This grate is significantly lighter in weight than the one I’m replacing. I’ve had my webber 22″ grill for 6 years. I replaced the original cooking grate that came with the webber kettle 2 years ago.

I have not used this grill near as much the last 2 years as previous 4 years. They no longer put out a stainless steel grate like the original grate. The 1st grate replacement cost me $20. This one I just got cost me $40.

and from what I see it appears it won’t last a year.
