20 Best Graphite Shafts For Irons (2023 Updated)

I just wanted to give a brief overview of my latest purchase: Aerotech steelfiber i95 stiff flex. First off let me say that I am moving from Tour issue X100’s in my rocketbladez tours to these. I have noticed a consistently higher and flatter ball flight with these.

The added distance is a nice. I added easily 10-15 yards with my 4 iron so I can use it off the tee more. I switched from X to stiff flex because the tips on these things are the stiffest I have ever played so they don’t feel whippy at all.

The weighting took about 5 minutes to get used to and I actually like it better now. I can play so many more shots with these its unreal. With my X100’s I had a stock shot that was a low draw and I had to work real real hard to get the ball to go higher.

I know my swing speed matched up with that shaft though but I guess my swing path did not (I’m more of a digger). Needless to say, these things are a game changer and my iron game has gotten so much more dynamic it’s unbelievable.

Had Aerotech in two sets of clubs now and bought a GW with steel shaft hence replacement required

Can’t beat Steelfiber shafts they’re the best there is. This shaft made my hybrid a real green seeking missile launcher. I use these shafts in all my clubs Driver to Wedge – been very happy with this product line.

Played an elite golf course in Naples on Saturday, 01/15/2022. XXIO had demo days at the elite golf course. Hit xxio 12 irons on the range at elite golf course on demo days, so impressed with xxio 12, I bought a set of irons yesterday, 01/18/2022 Si impressed with irons, cannot wait to get! also hit driver and was impressed.

I’m already have a driver and utility of the company. I wanted to get iron set and found them. I tested them in the field and found that it’s very comfortable and good to me. I’d recommend to my friends.

I have used Apollo Shadow wood shaft for years. It has a low kick and high trajectory so you can hit it long launch high and softly drop it on the green.

Very pleased with new shaft. First time i have purchased a shaft alone quality is excellent.

Vendor was very helpful and responsive. Quick receipt of just the right product for my Bubba Watson driver that I had purchased from the manufacturer. They don’t make a women’s shaft so this flex shaft or senior shaft has much improved the performance of the driver, replacing the stiff/standard shaft that came with the club.

Great shaft after 2 1/4 inches added to grip end of stiff shaft tunes to strong? Regular giving extra kength. Actually almost eliminated? Fade that I have played for years. Time will tell but seems great!.

These are excellent iron shafts. Somewhat hard to get but worth the time and enegy

Excellent clubs. Super long and forgiving. A bit “clicky” with sounds but as I get older (44) I wanted a club with some of the more forgiving and extra distance features. I’ve played forged muscle backs/blades for most of my golfing experience and am a 4 hcp, but decided upon these as I was tired of losing distance with mis-hits.

Quite hard to shape the ball, but if long and straight is what you crave, give these a chance. Kept going between the T200 and T300’s and kept going back to these as the spin rate, carry and roll gave me the best numbers.

You’ll be able to swing much more easily and effortlessly, yet the ball launches high and long. Easily gained 15-20 yards per iron compared to previous Mizuno MP-25’s. Highly recommended unless you really want to curve the ball.

If so, check out the T200 or T100.

Bought these recently. The irons are fabulous and perform as a top-tier club should. The shipping and packaging was AWFUL! When I received them, I noticed my, what should be brand new, clubs were in a generic (not Titleist branded) cardboard box, hastily packed irons with the plastic wrapping off, shaft UPC label removed, and the faces with obvious signs of someone hitting balls with them.

No cushioning what-so-ever to prevent them from banging into each other during shipment. Customer support was useless. Wouldn’t discount them and said that even if I tried to return them, the store wouldn’t accept them back because I could not prove they were not used by me! Never again will I buy golf items from Dicks!.

So I can’t hit a fairway wood or hybrid with ANY consistency, tried for years. Mostly they are topped and crooked either slicing or hooking worm burners. My irons are AP2’s 2018, the 4 iron is the best club in my bag.

Only issues is it’s a 200 yard club so it leaves me short on par 5’s and short on long par 3’s if there is any sort of wind. It was so exciting to see this utility iron. My goal was to get to a 220-230 club to be between my irons and my driver (260yd avg).

I picked up a u-510 4 iron and couldn’t be happier. It gives me an extra 20+ yards, is as easy to hit as my 4 iron and. no more topping the ball since it’s a simple iron swing. This is not really a driving iron for me, it’s kinda like crushing a 3 iron but way more forgiving.

This is a great addition to my bag, now there is only 1 wood in the bag, Driver.

I received the UST Recoil 780 ES SmacWrap shaft and put a Mizuno JPX 919 four iron on it. I like the flex, weight, and feel. I have used Recoil shafts in the past and liked them. This shaft performs and feels like a steel shaft without the weight and possible vibration on a thin shot.

The shaft is very stable but not too stiff. I have hit balls on the range with this club and played a couple of rounds. At this point I am very happy with my purchase. I added a 4 iron to my bag, I have the rest of my clubs with graphite shafts not UST shafts.

My driver swing speed is 90-95 mph.

Having played steel shafts for the past 40 yrs it was a bit of an adjustment going to graphite. They are much lighter and the dampening effect is really noticeable. I haven’t seen any real change in distance.

I would recommend these shafts to golfers of any age but I think they will be most appreciated by golfers with slower swing speeds.

The Recoil Smacwrap Shaft is the perfect shaft for my swing, and it looks good too! That’s a nice combination. At these prices it makes having to build clubs from scratch a lot less of a chore, and the quality is at least as good, and more often than not better than “Off-The-Rack” clubs, which usually sport “Made-For Manufacturer Versions” of these shafts.

Why pay premium prices for second rate when you can build the real McCoy, and not have to wonder why the demo in the store hit so much better than the one you bought and took to the course.

I started golfing regularly at the end of 2020. I had bought some 2nd hand Mizuno mp-52’s which the topline, sole thickness, and offset are about equivalent to a modern day tour iron. I had told myself that once I broke 100, I was going to get fit for irons to improve my game.

My main issues were off the tee and putting, with irons being the strong part of my game. I broke 100 in January of 2022. I had originally wanted to test out the King forged Tec irons, but being left handed, none of the golf stores in my area had a left handed demo, and being fresh out of high school, was scared to spend $1,000.

00 on irons I had never seen before. since I am still relatively new to golf, the fitter suggested that I go more of the game improvement route. I tested a lot of GI irons, with the Radspeed blowing away the rest of them.

I ended up getting fit for them 5iron- Sand Wedge. There is a lot I like about these irons, but a few things I wish were a little better. These irons have helped me a lot with consistency, with mis-hits still going far and being in play.

for being stronger lofted, these still generate a nice ball flight and good spin. The feel is soft, the wedges are a little firm, but still give pretty good feel. The distance I can get out of these are incredible also, they have really helped me to close the gap from the woods and hybrid sections of my clubs.

That being said, there are a couple of things I wish could be better with these clubs. I while still having a good ball flight and spin, they don’t go just quite as high as I personally would like, and could use just a little more spin.

As I have gotten better with lots of practice, another thing I noticed is precision. while these are very good for keeping you in play and getting you close to the green, they aren’t as precise as I would like, getting you on or around the green, but not necessarily attacking the pin.

Overall, these irons are great for high handicappers looking for consistency and also for those who need more distance. These have worked well for me, I have shot as low as an 87 at my home course, but if I had to do it again, I probably would have taken the leap of faith and got the forged tec instead.

Even though I still am relatively new at golf, I just think I went a little too far back as far as iron type goes. I like a lot of the technology in these irons and they do play great, but I would’ve liked a more compact head.

I’m a single digit handicap golfer who has had owned several drivers in my lifetime and never had a problem like this ever. After using this driver for 5 rounds of golf, the face of the driver cracked open on a well struck drive in the center of the clubface.

Keep in mind I take meticulous care of my golf equipment so I ALWAYS kept the headcover on when not in use and the keep my clubs stored in a temperature controlled room. I figured I just got unlucky and this was some freak, one-off occurrence.

After a long delay – Cobra replaced my broken driver head. Willing to give it another shot, I brought it to a tournament instead of spending hundreds more on a new driver. The times this did work, it was on par with other drivers I tested from last year’s models.

IN MY FIRST round, on my THIRD DRIVE of the day, this driver head cracked AGAIN, once again on a well struck shot. I had to play the remaining 15 holes without a driver because of this. Nobody around me could believe what just had happened after seeing the drive.

While other people seem to like this driver, and I enjoyed the handful of drives I was able to hit with it, the quality control is clearly an issue. I will no longer by buying or endorsing Cobra products because of this issue as I cannot spend several hundred dollars on a driver that cannot make it through a round of golf.

Cobra apologized for this issue and offered me the head for the newer Driver. Unfortunately, it took several months to get it delivered it to me, after numerous attempts to reach them with no response at all and no updates.

I used to be a loyal customer but will no longer play anything cobra unless they make a serious change.

Decided to get these clubs back in January. Finally got the clubs in March and on the first nice day out i went to the driving range to use my new clubs. I started with my 6 iron and upon my first shot the club head flew off the shaft.

Weird and upset I decided to take out another iron and sure enough upon swinging a second shot the club head flew off as well. I went to the PGA store and they said there must have been a manufacturing issue with the glue.

I reordered the set and played a few rounds with the new set. About a month into having the new set the same thing happened to my 6 iron. I went to PGA again and got refitted and ordered a more expensive set of clubs because the associate suggested switching clubs and said my swing speed needed a heavier shaft and said the cobra shafts are out of stock that i needed.

So surely i order a new set of clubs and this was back in Early june and now its the end of August and they are saying I won’t be receiving my clubs until september first. that is when they are estimated to ship, after they promised they would ship in early august.

Super disappointed with Cobra and how PGA handled this entire situation.

I quit golfing for 15 years because of frequent deployments. Started back recently with old clubs and found that I had lost what little abilities that I once had. After a few months of constant practice, decided to make some changes in equipment.

I bought a set of PXG 0211 irons with A-flex shafts and a gen 1 PXG Driver 0811LX with an Evenflow R-flex rated shaft and it was still only barely OK at best after adjustments of the drivers weights and dropping the 12* pitch to 10.

5*. After much research decided to try this shaft before trying another driver. I love the PXG irons but didnt have the same feelings for the driver. As I described it to my son, this shaft turned my PXG driver into a PXG golf rifle.

Aim pull the trigger and hit the target. !! Ive never written a review before because I can only speak for my own results, but felt I should over this purchase. !! It has to be the best purchase Ive ever made in golf.

Almost 60 years old and went from a R-flex to an A-flex shaft after deciding my swing speed isnt going to get any faster over the coming years. As I stated above the driver came with an Evenflow Riptide CB 5.

5-R 50G shaft. I wanted to try this shaft because of this shafts A-flex rating, the weight of the shaft and high torque rating. All I can say is thatit works for me, its giving me hope that I can actually substantially improve my scoring on any course.

I never believed that a shaft could make this great of a difference in my swing, my game and my feelings toward my driver. !! It definitely curbed my affinity to occasionally monster slice, in fact all slices have disappeared.

It seems to hit mid range ball flight consistently as described and as advertised even with taking my driver back to the standard 12*. And added about 10 yards of carry consistently to my drives. I couldnt be happier with a purchase.

This is an incredible shaft for the skilled player at hand. It has great feel and response off the tee. it is a perfect mid-launch flight shaft and with 105 to 110 MPH swing speed you can expect to hit around 250 to 265 yards with center punch shots.

The shafts from adila are very nice and this particular one is a favorite of mine. I also have the shaft in two other clubs a 2 iron, and a 3 wood, and it is just incredible the difference a shaft can make in a golf shot.

I highly suggest trying it out if you ever thought of changing shafts to produce a low moderate ball flight and with a great feel and super performance during the swing impact. Good luck and good golfing to you.

Classic original version of the NV Green, low/mid launch, low spin. I bought the 85g weight for my 5 wood and have been enjoying the stability and tighter shot dispersion. I am a professional club fitter and play to a 1.

This is a descendant of the original Aldila Green shaft which was arguably the first great graphite wood shaft over 30 years ago. Its lighter, and of course has progressed over time with modern shaft technology but it is still a fairly priced standard that if fit properly will deliver as well as any shaft on the market.

I’ve aged and my game has deteriorated since I bought my first green but I bought the NVS Orange in A flex, 45 grams and the result was perfect. Smooth load and perfect mid high flight. My SS is between 75 and 80 mph with a smooth transition.

Replaced a Ping G400 standard length Alta CB shaft in Regular with this shaft, shortened by 1. 5 inches and in stiff flex. Shaft feels much more stable, especially at impact, with no apparent loss of distance, also feel I am swinging the club slightly faster.

Nordica fitted the G400 sleeve to the shaft and it was delivered promptly within 4 days to the UK with my preferred grip. Excellent service all round, would highly recommend both shaft and Nordica.

took it out once. got 4 good drives out of it, the fifth drive sent the club head about 20 yards (at least the ball went 200+) – I did NOT hit the ground, all were clean drives. I was happy with the performance until the club head flew off – I had to finish the round driving with a 3 wood.

worse yet, Dick’s charged me to replace it! they were nice enough about it, gave me 50% off and no charge on the labor. All in all a disappointing experience.

This is my favorite aftermarket shaft for Senior Flex. I use it on a Tour Edge Exotics EXS 220 driver and it is long and accurate for my now slower swing speed. Gives me more distance and accuracy than regular flex and other senior flex shafts.

Great lightweight shaft producing an excellent club head control. I have an average 90 mph swing speed and find the S flex combination with my Callaway xr16 driver head gives me good fairway control and an extra 10 meters compared to the mp5 R flex shaft.

I like the specs written on the shaft including the frequency CPM.

Real lite shaft and steady. Great ball trajectory off the face. Try it and experience it for yourself. Great shaft!

I liked what I was reading about the C Taper KBS Shaft. I ordered it with my new set of irons. They performed Amazing! I decided on the stiff 120 shaft and was nervous after watching YouTube comments about the shaft.

Like, only 4% of the players with low to medium handicaps should use these shafts. well I must fit into that specific category because I literally was pulling the wrappers off the club head and grip before using the club.

Loved every hit with every club! Ball flight, feel, control were perfect for my swing. I shot 1 over at Wildfire Palmer course in Scottsdale AZ never having used the clubs before. Can’t wait to see what happens with my scores having played with them! Great Shaft!Todd in Scottsdale.

I ordered a KBS Tour 90 S shaft to replace my 8 iron shaft which was bent. The KBS Tour 90 S shaft arrived in a protected box. The shaft had a small white sticker stating it was the shaft I had ordered, but.

the (Red) KBS Tour 90 S identification sticker which all KBS shafts have on them was no where in the box or on the golf club shaft. I’ve contacted Customer Service and am waiting for a reply on how this can be fixed.

My shaft broke and needed it replaced. Couldn’t get the exact match. They replaced with a steel shaft with no description on shaft. I did not get the KBS TOUR 90. So can’t say good or bad.

Bought this shaft with Titleist adapter using the online Configuration Tool. Delighted with the quality and performance. Shaft feels great for my 90 mph swing and produces excellent results.

Bought this Kuro Kage Silver as more of an experiment to see if a slightly heavier shaft with a bit stiffer handle profile would be a good substitution for my other high performing Fujikura Motore X F1 6X.

Sometimes that shaft can get a little lost in the swing when my tempo gets a little aggressive. The Kuro Kage Silver 69g X flex does NOT disappoint. This shaft is true testament that A) Mitsubishi doesn’t skimp on their lower cost shafts and tolerances are just as tight as their $400+ offerings, and B) you don’t need to spend $250-$500 to get a premium high-performance shaft.

Just pay attention to the profile characteristics. I have this paired with a 2021 Mizuno ST-Z and boy what a combo. The feel of the shaft is a little more stout than the Motore X but not boardy at all.

It is more of a full profile feel that just stays in the zone through the entire swing rather than more of an aggressive release like the Motore X. Club head speed is identical with the Kuro Kage so no distance lost.

Spin is just a hair higher by about 100+200 rpms but that’s not an issue as my spin with the Motore X is sub 2000’s. Distance is nearly identical with both. Disbursement is tighter with the Motore X when I’m staying within my swing comfort zone but doesn’t really give me confidence when I need to really unload.

The Kuro Kage however allows me to still find the fairway whether I’m swinging at 80% or 100% and I think it’s due to the slightly stiffer and heavier profile. Either way, it is extremely stable under light or heavy pressure.

i ended up getting this shaft put into my sim 2 max 3 wood as a stiffer option to the one that came with it. lets just say it didn’t disappoint, it is a great shaft and probably my favorite in my bag.

my 3 wood i use strictly off the tee as i’m not very comfortable using a bigger head off the deck. It does a great job keeping the shaft stable throughout the swing and for me it has resulted in better contact with the ball and with that more yards as a result.

this shaft has helped so much with stability that it sometimes makes me question which club i should use off the tee. Ive played with this since Nov. 2021 with this i have a 300 yard drive on a par 5, a 270 drive on a par 4 and another 270+ yard drive on a par 4.

Great shaft, so good that i’m currently looking at getting one for my driver to maximize its potential and to avoid the issue i’m currently having with gapping for my tee clubs. 10/10 on this shaft and its a relatively cheap compared to other high end shafts.

I asked the technician to select a similar replacement shaft for my broken 6-iron, and specified I needed a shaft that would match the flex and specs of my iron set. Since the original shafts were not available, the tech looked in a book with stats for various shafts and selected this model.

Upon first hit, it was obvious the replacement shaft was not close to the original shaft in terms of flex and feel. In fact, it has no “feel” and I will not be using this club going forward. What was most disappointing was the attitude of the technician, who said unless I was a pro golfer I would not be able to tell the difference anyway.

Sadly, the difference between the original and replacement shafts is so great even a high-handicapper like me could tell the difference blindfolded.

As mentioned in other reviews, shafts did not include stickers. Not a big deal for me since it was such a good deal on the 8 piece set. Shaft were stamped with correct info. They were a little heavier than specs mentioned.

Site listed 107g and actual weight was 114-117g. Overall, I am happy with the shafts and would recommend.

Tried out many different shafts wearing in late from graphite at 65 g to 115 g. The truth ramp or text 3105s fit my swing the best. Between the shafts and lessons I have added 15 yards each club.

I needed to replace a shaft on my 7 iron that I broke. This shaft feels and behaves very close to the original. I cannot tell a difference.

For background. I’m 57, an 11. 5 handicap, live in Scottsdale (so I play mainly desert courses), I’m not a long hitter, have lost some swing speed in recent years, but good around the greens and a good putter.

My iron play is the weakest part of my game. I have played every type of iron from Mizuno blades to Callaway Rogue Max super game improvements. Never been totally satisfied with my iron play, albeit I know that is mostly to do with me and not the clubs.

I had the Titleist AP 1’s about 5 years ago. Hated them and bought something else within a month of owning them. My last set was Ping i500’s. They were ok, but I did not like the turf interaction and if you missed the center of the club the ball went nowhere.

Tried the Titleist T400’s on a whim. Wow, very easy to hit right off the bat, and super long which I need! Bought these with the Fubuki graphite shafts (R) and I couldn’t be happier. I now have more length (a full 1 to 1.

5 clubs longer), forgiveness and consistency without sacrifice of control. Not that you have the workability of a players club with the T400’s, but enough for someone at my level. LOVE the turn interaction! Only downside is that they are a larger head, but I’m already used to them.

There is always a compromise. you’re just not going to get the same forgiveness and length in a smaller head size. And don’t let the strong lofts concern you. The ball height/angle/descent is appropriate for the club, i.

e. , the T400 7 iron is at the average 7 iron height/angle/descent. It remains to be seen, but I think I can get back to a single digit handicap with these in my bag. In my case, these irons do help offset my less than stellar golf swing.

I joke that this is the Titleist version of the Callaway Epic Flash irons. They’re lofted 1 club stronger. So, you need to adjust your selection for your shots. But once you get used to that, they feels great.

And, the heads ar much bigger than the Epic Flash. You will just have trouble telling your paying partners which club you’re hitting.

I ordered the Titleist T400 iron set from Golf Avenue in Montreal. Canada one day, and 4 days later they arrived at my door in SoCal! What better service could one ask for? The T400’s are THE BEST irons I’ve ever played, and that says a lot since I’ve owned/played more than 25 sets of irons over the years.

They are strong (lofts) and long (shaft lengths), and they hit the ball high and long. My search for the ultimate irons has come to an end.
