20 Best Grains For Weight Loss (2023 Updated)

Ezekiel 4:9 is not a typical breakfast cereal. I choose it because it’s simply sprouted, very hearty whole grains. Because it’s so hearty, I’ve have learned to put less in the bowl and to slow down and fully chew every bite.

I’ve tried three flavors so far. I don’t like the raisin version, since I’d rather add my own fresher, softer raisins. I like the almond best. To it I add additional sliced almonds, also shaved coconut and diced date pieces.

Fresh, juicy peaches complement it well, too.

I eat this cereal because it is good for my health. It tastes awful so I don’t overeat breakfast. The outer box is flimsiest cardboard which is [I guess cheaper] and more sustainable, but usually arrives slightly crushed at the corners.

The box–I haven’t tried it, but I’ll bet that the box tastes better than the cereal. Now to the cereal itself: the grains are very, very tiny; the picture on the box must be a very tiny spoon, because it makes the cereal grains look much larger relative to the spoon, than it really is.

Poorly designed packaging ensures that the tiny grained cereal pours out around, outside the bowl as well as into the bowl. I took a chance and ordered a case of Ezekiel 4:9 containing all 3 “flavors”.

I am [slowly] working my way through the flavors. “Food for Life” touts Ezekiel 4:9 for its “flavor”. False advertising!.

A good natural breakfast cereal that has none of the nasties you usually find in the usual supermarket cereals. Don’t put too much in a bowl as it is very filling. I dont use sugar, as I don’t like it in c e reals or hot drinks and this can be topped up with berries or a banana for natural sweeter.

Crunchy like a cross between granola and grape nuts cereals. It can be used with milk or plant milks (almond milk is really nice with it). It can be hard to get used to if you are not used to really crunchy cereal.

Can be eaten hot or cold so it’s an all year around cereal.

This is a good quality instant oatmeal, with a subtly sweet flavor, and not much added sugar (only 4g) packed with more protein than is typical of regular oatmeals. I love oatmeal and am working out and losing weight after having a baby, but also trying to keep up my milk supply, so I was eager to try this when HMR offered me a free sample, as oatmeal is one of my staples.

The flavor is not overly sweet, but isn’t completely bland like plain oatmeal. The fruit adds a bit of flavor and there is a small amount of added sugar. It’s a larger portion size than my typical oatmeal packets, but the calories are relative to the portion, so unfortunately I’m not ‘saving’ calories here; just swapping my regular oatmeal for a healthier option.

Compared to ‘regular’ oatmeal, this one is much higher in protein (10g compared to my regular 4g) and 11g/15g of sugar occur naturally with only 4g of added sugar, so the macros are better! It’s fine ground, cooks well and evenly in the microwave, and I took the recommendation to add fruit to it and also added ground flax seed.

Very delicious and filling as breakfast, snack, or lunch!.

This was a great product. I really love the flavor, as well as the mixed in varies. It made me feel healthier to have this as opposed to regular oatmeal, and it definitely filled me up better than normal oatmeal in the morning.

I will say that depending on how you cook it sometimes it does come out a little bit more runny or little bit more firm, but either way I really enjoyed this product and I’m definitely try other flavors.

Received these packets as part of a promotion but I must say they are very tasty. I like the fact that they come in single serve packs and heat up very quickly. At 220 calories they’re not loaded with sugar and I really like the fact that they contain dried applies, currants along with the cranberries.

All in all a very good breakfast idea especially for the colder months.

Since I been eating healthy and want to find foods that are not carb loaded and makes your insulin level go crazy, I’ve found that eating Millet is beneficial and it is digested slowly in the gut which does not make your insulin level rise.

You can eat this instead of rice or brown rice or potatoes with the skin. (Keep the skin on potatoes, that’s where all the nutrition is). I’ve made my own Ghee and love it on this millet.

Most people think of this as just birdseed. Wrong! It’s a delightful, easy, and quick to cook whole grain. I’ve been making a tomato/olive casserole from it for years. I also enjoy it as a cereal. So glad this brand is organic.

This Shiloh Farms organic millet grain is wonderful! It has a great taste. I soak about 15 minutes in my instant pot, drain and then add correct amount of water and cook 10 minutes on rice setting. My chickens also like this millet cooked.

I like to feed it to them especially in the winter time with cut up kale.

Anything Bob’s Mills is fresh and quality stuff! If you’re gluten intolerant its the way to go! Good as a warm breakfast cereal. The millet flavor is not that strong, which I personally prefer. The millet is a harder grain usually, so I always use 1.

5-2x more for both the water and the cooking time on the packaging.

Bob’s Red Mill Company has been around awhile. Me too! I felt an urgency for a millet meal and happily found it on Vitacost when I was ordering supplements. For me, millet is versatile and especially soothing for occasional upset stomach.

I use this grain to make hot cereal for breakfast. I add more liquid than is indicated on the package, so the grain is softer when finished cooking – 3 cups instead of 2 cups, cooked for 25 minutes. It’s a great alternative to oatmeal if you do not tolerate oats well.

Did you know that the Ethiopian pancake, injera, that’s used to scoop up food is made from teff? Teff is not a gluten grain, so it’s appropriate for those on gluten-free diets. And it’s very tasty! The only problem is that you will need a very fine sieve, cheesecloth, or a paint strainer to rinse it if the directions say to do that, because this is a grain that’s really tiny.

I am very fond of the taste of teff. All I add to it is a little salt.

I thought I could make a great, low glycemic bread with this grain because it was listed as having 2g of fiber and only 8g of carbs per quarter cup. But after receiving it I learned it’s actually 42g of carbs per quarter cup.

So for my needs, it was a waste of money. Whole grain wheat flour would have been much cheaper with lower net carbs. Had I not been deceived, I never would have bought this. Sadly, I bought three of them.

I bought this a few weeks ago, and I was surprised at how tiny the grains were! They were around chia seed size. When I rinsed the grain before cooking, some grains fell out of the fine sieve. The package has instructions for making cooked amaranth, as well as amaranth porridge.

When I cooked it, I followed the regular instructions and it turned into a porridge. The taste was good, maybe some salt to taste. However I’m not planning on purchasing again, due to the loss of grain each time it was rinsed, and the porridge consistency was somewhat thick so I watered it down.

Tasted like mold. Attempted to use for baby porridge, even mixed with a little blueberry and banana. We both tried it and the baby cried it was nasty did not taste fresh or stored properly tasted strongly of mold and says no return.

Very upset would like my money back asap.

Sorry NOW, I usually love your products. I buy your supplements all the time and find them quality at an affordable price. I recommend them to others. But this amaranth? Full of sand. I’ve tried rinsing it out, I’ve tried simply tolerating it, I’ve tried swallowing it without chewing to avoid that gritty sand feeling between my teeth.

but I’m throwing this stuff away! It sucks cause I bought 7 packages!! So, folks. Unless you enjoy sand, I’d avoid this product and go with another brand.

The packaging materials are cheap and ineffective. The cereal bags frequently have small holes, which looks like it may result from a manufacturing defect, as there are perforated lines running down the bags.

The cereal bags often have small holes because it also looks like the sharp cereal edges are able to puncture tiny holes in the bag during packaging, as the plastic bags are so thin. If you do happen to purchase an unpunctured bag of cereal, it is nearly impossible to open the bag properly, as the plastic is so thin that the entire bag of cereal rips from top to bottom, requiring use of a ziplock bag to store the remaining cereal.

The packaging materials are very disappointing – cheap, thin, and ineffective. The punctured bags contain stale cereal that has been open to air during transport. Nearly all bags require use of a ziplock bag and/or tupperware container to store the cereal, as the bags rip substantially when opened.

Despite enjoying Life cereal, it is expensive remaining a customer, as each purchase is a gamble: (1) will I ultimately purchase a punctured bag with stale cereal, or (2) will I rip the entire bag of cereal trying to open to open a new bag?.

I have literally eaten Cinnamon Life almost every morning for over a decade. I buy 3-4 boxes a week. I wouldn’t ever get sick of it; in fact, I’d still look forward to every bowl. Since the recipe change I just can’t eat it anymore.

I tried looking in different stores and carriers for a few months, but all the good old ones are gone. I can’t believe I have to find a new cereal. I see comments about removing artificial flavors etc… but what’s artificial about Cinnamon and sugar? There’s literally no cinnamon or sugar anymore.

If a consumer wants a sugarless cereal then buy a different one. I don’t see Lucky Charms trying to remove artificial flavors; consumers know what they’re buying. So why the sudden change for Cinnamon Life? I hope for me and the other die hard fans out there that sales will drop and they’ll bring some of the old back.

I buy Cinnamon Life Cereal multiple boxes at a time and always keep it in the pantry. I especially love getting that last bowl and getting the extra sugar and cinnamon which adds so much flavor to my milk.

However, it feels like recently there has been a big shift in taste and quality. At first, I went to the boxes and made sure I bought “Cinnamon Life”, which I have been eating since I was a kid. Then I thought that I might have just gotten a bad batch.

Maybe one day a batch was produced, but the sugar and cinnamon hopper was empty so they could not properly coat the squares, but they sent out the box anyway. This does not seem to be the case. After trudging through multiple boxes from my stockpile, I went to the grocery store to buy a new box.

I brought it home and found the same. The flavorful squares coated in Cinnamon and Sugar have been replaced with just the most bland cereal available. I am really confused about changing a very popular existing product.

Why not just let people buy original if they want the squares with no flavoring. The bad news is that for some reason Quaker is trying to slowly destroy all of their beloved formulas. The good news is that my tastebuds still work, which was really a concern of mine for a while after first noticing the change.

I opened a two pound bag of this rice which was purchased in a store in town. We were blown away by the taste – really beautiful combination of sweet rice with the other flavors. I went to this website but the only available size was 25 pounds.

Because we strictly follow a WFPBNO diet, rice is a staple in our kitchen along with beans. This rice is actually exciting to eat. BUT I best keep the quantity a secret from my husband ( though he did comment on the excellent flavor).

Just gotta figure out how I’ll manage to carry the 25 pounds into the house.

I love, love, love this rice!!!! It’s very Hearty and fills you up! It’s great anytime of day! Sometimes I like it with spices and evoo, topped with a fried egg, sauteed onions, garlic and kale. I sometimes toss some fresh kalamata olives and sauteed radishes in there.

Oh don’t forget the fresh herbs like parsley or basil. I’ve had it cooked and fresh tomatoes to this dish. I’ve had a smoked salmon as well. The point that I make is that it is a heartier rice. If you’re not a fan of brown rice because it’s just not filling or doesn’t keep you full for a long time.

This rice is perfect. Granite, it takes almost close to an hour to cook but in the long run it’s worth it. I make enough for 3 days and store it in the fridge. A couple times after cooking it I’ve put it in freezer bag and place it in the freezer.

Just because I made too much and didn’t want it to go to waste. Lastly the price isn’t too bad at Walmart. You might go to other places and it’s going to cost you so much more. I hope they never stop selling it.

I was looking for something a bit different to plate our pan seared scallops on. I used to use an Asian slaw that we make. I found it with this organic wild rice blend. I add a little creole seasoning to it to give it just on extra bit of an edge.

bought this for my brother-in-law, he loves this cereal and like everyone else could not find it in the stores so was happy to surprise him. Price was a little high and will be a one time favor for him, he can pay it if he really wants it, don’t know why the stores stopped caring it looks like a lot of people want it.

Have been looking for my cereal since the virus started last year. Was finally able to find it and am very pleased with my order. Came very quickly and I will order again.

I’ve been buying this brand for years. It is the best quality. Fresh, high in fiber and tastes good. Put it in anything you cook, that you like! I store it in the refrigerator or freezer for long-term storage.

Let me starts off by saying: I absolutely /love/ that Vitauthority has products that compete with Skinnyfit at much more affordable rates, but that being said? This product is just. /not/ good. It’s extremely gritty.

It mixes just fine, but it does -not- dissolve well. You have to keep shaking/stirring to make sure it doesn’t settle at the bottom of your cup or tumbler. And the taste? Obviously the 4-5 Star reviews have no tastebuds at all, or have found a way to completely mask the ‘minty’ flavor.

It’s /overwhelming/. I used only 1/4 of a scoop in my morning breakfast shake (chocolate), and it still completely overpowered every other flavor. I couldn’t taste the chocolate at all, only the crazy grainy mint.

I honestly don’t think it would be that bad, if not for the fact that the product is sweetened to high heaven. That’s what makes it worse, is the sickeningly sweet taste alongside the mint. I’m so disappointed by this product.

I really wanted to like it, because all of your other products are fantastic and have worked out great for me. I’ve noticed a visible difference in my waistline since I’ve started using your Multi-Collagen, Melt, and Stasis products in conjunction.

I am loving all the products I purchased!! I have been using the collagen burn and detox nourish for several months now and have noticed my cellulite is improving. Not much progress in the weight loss department yet but hoping I see improvement there too.

I’ve only been using the lean greens for a short while and love it!! I feel like I have so much more energy but there again not helping in the weight loss area. I just purchased Move with my last order.

I am hopeful it will help with joint pain. Too early to tell, I think!! I do love the products and will continue using them!!.

To start, this tastes awful! But the benefits are worth it. I just take it like a shot (in a small amount of water) and chase it with a flavorful beverage after to avoid the taste. I do this in the morning as the 1st thing I put in my stomach.

It really helps me curb my cravings and reduces my appetite while I’m at work during the day. I’m not sure if I would buy this product again though because of the taste, it’s like toothpaste flavored.

I use this occasionally, when consuming certain types/amounts of carbohydrates (refined carbs or higher amounts) to prevent the blood sugar crash like symptoms I get after eating them. my blood sugar levels haven’t been properly tested, but I do get the symptoms, and taking these granules with the carbs prevents them.

(There are types of hypoglycemia where blood sugar levels are “normal”. ) They are somewhat constipating, though, even though I drink the amount of water with them that is directed. I find I don’t need to use as high a dose as they suggest, especially if I make sure to have lots of protein and enough fat at the same time.

(and since I only take them occasionally, and you’re supposed to start with a low dose and work up, that is another reason for me not to take the full dose). But on the occasions when the protein and fat isn’t enough to fully balance out the carbs, these really work for me, to make up the difference.

They’re also a much better value for money than the capsule version.
