20 Best Goose Down Comforter For Hot Sleepers (2023 Updated)

I ordered this duvet online and received it in the mail yesterday. I was shocked when I pulled it out of the bag. not only was the material so thin that I could see dark feathers through it but the feathers were so big that I could feel and hear the feathers cracking in my hands (the solid part of the feather).

I returned it yesterday as I literally can’t imagine wrapping myself up in it. I don’t typically write reviews for products but I’ve had many duvets and this one was very odd and disappointing. Especially after waiting almost two weeks to receive it.

Oh my! The luxury feel of this comforter is impeccable! It wraps you up in warmth and super comfort. Next thing you know you’re drifting off to dream land in no time flat. Literally, it keeps me sooo warrm at night.

And I’m one of those “always cold people”. Haha! It’s not super fluffy either. It’s just right. And it’s pretty big too. Not really true to size. I got a Full/Queen and I have a king size bed that it fits quite nicely on.

It’s a beautiful white color, hopefully it stays clean! And has scotch guard on it, which is a big plus! That does help to try to keep stains at bay. No problems with any feathers poking me, so that’s good! (Tends to happen with down products) It’s crafted very well.

I’m super happy about my new down comforter! Absolutely recommend.

I Love the heavyweight goose down comforter! I already have the same one in medium weight and Ive loved it during the summer and fall. I have always wanted the heavyweight because I love the fluffy large comforters at hotels and this one is reminiscent of that.

Its warm but not stuffy. It will be great for winter time and also any other time when its cooler outside because inside we keep it around 63-68 degrees. If you love cozy beds you will not be disappointed! I also have it inside an 800TC hotel collection duvet cover.

Perfect all season comforter. Fluffs nicely after about a week and keeps your warm even in the winter. Would highly recommend. People say it’s stiff quality, that’s because it’s new. The longer you have it and taking it to the dry cleaners to get washed and dried in the dryer makes it amazing soft.

it is exactly as described. it is not to thick or thin. It is medium and just in the middle of thickness. Perfect for were we live. Quality is very good!

I really wanted this to be more than what I received. Now, for the very good sale price, I will keep it. My intention was to replace a gorgeous but 35 year old down comforter which has finally lost enough of its fill that it has occasional cold spots.

Instead I will layer this one on top of the older, still far warmer one. When I pulled this comforter out of the package the I notice the fabric is really nice, however it did not fluff up the way I’d expect of an all-down comforter.

I tossed, shook, and fluffed it and then left it for a a couple hours expecting to come back into the room and discover it had lost compression from being packed. No such luck. Then I noticed the tag had an 85/15 designation and looked further to see it’s 85% down.

Of course it won’t fluff like a 100% down comforter would. That also throws off shopping comparisons for total fill weight. I would not recommend this for the full price. It’s a light to midweight down and feather comforter.

Good for warm sleepers but not for a cold bedroom or cold sleeper.

I purchased this in December 2020, just pulled it out for the second season and decided to wash it to freshen it up before putting it on the bed. I was even more careful than the walking instructions – I washed it in cold and dried it on low, using wool dryer balls to fluff it up.

It came out looking great, but once I put it in the flannel duvet cover and laid it on my bed, I realized it had shrunk in width. I hadn’t realized it at first because the Land’s End duvet cover had always fit a little large with a couple extra inches all around.

However, once I got the duvet situated on the bed the way it was supposed to go I realized that the duvet cover fit the bed the same way – however, the duvet inside of it was now a lot smaller. I love both and together they are so warm, soft and comfortable, it makes me very sad that I’ve spent all of this money and now it doesn’t fit.

This is really an awesome duvet and I’m happy with my purchase. It feels well made, the box stitching really helps it keep it’s shape and fill distribution. This duvet is a light-medium warmth level and honestly it’s perfect for what I need.

I live in southern California, so we have hot summers (90-100F) and mild temperature the rest of the year. This duvet is a little too warm for summer, but it’s great for the rest of the year. Also, this duvet does not have that crinkly sound or feeling to it, like some other duvets have.

My one caveat is the sizing. I have a queen sized bed. When buying this I was on the fence between getting a full/queen size or upgrading to the king for extra coverage. I bought the full/queen sized duvet and it is not well suited for a queen bed in my opinion.

For a full, it is great, but for a queen it barely hangs over the sides. If you have a queen bed, I recommend getting a king duvet and cover.

I’ve been using my Eddie Bauer comforter for a few weeks now. It’s a wonderful weight, not too hot, not too light, not too stiff. On size, I bought a oversized king for my cal king tempupedic and it was too big.

It might have worked if the bed was on risers. Downlight made it really easy to return it and get the standard and it fits perfectly.

I have had this comforter for a while now and it is still full and fluffy looking. It fills in the duvet cover nicely. I have washed and dried it multiple times. The weird down smell dissipated after it dried completely.

It’s perfect for cold winter nights, but might be too warm for summer.

Let me start by saying this duvet is amazing. It’s soft, fluffy, fits my bed perfectly, and was my first Greta investment in a comforter. That said, I do not think this is meant for year round. Since I’ve been using it, I’ve been waking up nightly drenched in sweat.

Which is very unusual for me, I’m not hot natured. Before I got a good duvet, I would sleep under two “bag-in-box” comforters. So this has really been throwing me for a loop. My only guess is that this just sleeps too warm for the climate I live in (Deep South).

Or that I’m keeping my house too warm. If you live in a colder climate I think this would be perfect. I’m not returning it because I do love it, but felt I should add this note. I’m also going to try some cooling sheet solutions to see if that helps.

If all else fails, I will get the lighter weight duvet by wamsutta and just use this in the dec-feb months, which are the coldest around here. It’s truly a dream, I just need to stop sweating!.

We ordered this comforter on line, as there were none available in the store in F/Q size. It arrived in good condition. We unpacked it and it seemed flat at first, but given some fluffing and space, it puffs up with a good amount of loft.

The fabric is soft, not crinkly, and only two small bits of down were loose. The only negative to this comforter is the oddball size. The stated size is 98×100 in. Actual measured size was 99×95. Regardless, Wamsutta does not make duvet covers to fit their own product, Bed, Bath & Beyond does not stock any, and I had to go on line and do a search of “oversized duvet covers” in order to find any that would fit.

The selection is extremely limited. The comforter does fulfill my main requirement. The fill is predominantly down, not feather, is lightweight, and is made with baffle box construction so the fill won’t shift.

I gave it four stars rather than five because of the difficulty in finding a duvet cover.

This was the most I ever spent on a comforter, I was so excited to have a nice bedding set. My husband took me out to buy it for my birthday. I read the reviews and most were good, but every negative comment I came across I ended up experiencing.

The material does bunch up in the pockets , and there was discoloration when first taken out of the bag in a few places but I was getting a duvet cover so at the time I wasn’t too worried. (Couldn’t find one cause it’s not sized correctly) It’s extremely hot, not cool and fresh at all.

I wake up sweating all the time. After a few washes I also noticed the seam going all around it has become very hard in certain spots almost crunchy. If I could return it after all this time I would it’s only been since the end of August and experienced this much grief out of it.

I was really excited about this down insert, but ended up returning it after 2 days. It was the perfect weight and warmth but it was very loud and crunchy. It sounded like a sleeping bag! Any time my husband or myself moved we would disturb each other.

I was surprised a Serta product would do that! Maybe it’s something that would change over time but 2 nights disturbed was enough for me. Also do note that it is dry clean only, which was not a deal breaker for me.

I have been saving fro a very long time to get a real goose down comforter. After purchasing a couch and love seat from Hayneedle I was able to make my dream come true with the use of the bonus cash I received.

I am absolutely in love with this comforter! It plumped right up and is wam and cozy. Fits my bed like a dream and I sleep very well with it on these chilly nights. I have on thin blanket underneath of it and will not need that when the wether turns warmer.

I live in the super midwest so I need a warm blanket. This down comforter is heavy enough that you feel it on you, but not so heavy that it restricts your movement. As far as warmth, I have flannel sheets and a duvet cover on this comforter and it’s the perfect combination with the heater at 62 degrees.

The material is great quality and the seams seem to be sturdy. Being that it is down, I was concerned there would be quills poking out but that has not happened after a week of use.

I waited 6 months to give this a fair review. It is beautiful. I love that it has a crisp coolness to it and yet it is very warm. I bought a duvet cover for it. After sleeping with this and moving all over the place for 2 weeks.

I went to take cover off and blanket out to wash. (Not blanket, duvet) FEATHERS everywhere. Shaking it off out a window does not get rid of the feather issue. ugh. disappointed. 6 months later. still feathers.

The comforter arrived just when Houzz said it would. I was worried it would be too hot, as I sleep very hot, but it is not. It is really an all-weather comforter. It is so light and fluffy, the perfect comforter.

It fluffed up nicely once out of the packaging and has loops to connect it to the comforter cover which is great because the duvet doesn’t slip around inside the cover. A great purchase that I would highly recommend.

I’ve only used it for a couple of nights so far but I like that it is lightweight, fluffy and warm – but not too warm. I purchased the king size and it is wide enough to drape nicely on each sides of the bed giving the room a cozy appeal.

The quilt is well made and warm without weight. The fabric encloses the down and feathers securely. The width works well on our queen size bed without worries of coverage loss. There are about 13 inches of overhang on each side.

We are very happy with it. We live in Minnesota and have been able to turn the heat down in our bedroom.

I am quite particular about my bedding, so I’ve been on the hunt for the ‘perfect’ down comforter for awhile. This Beautyrest 400TC Sateen Cotton All Seasons European White Goose Down Comforter has everything I have ever wanted! The fabric is a soft, breathable cotton and looks lovely even though I use it with a duvet to keep it clean.

I opted for a king size even though I have a queen bed as my mattress is deep. It drapes over the sides beautifully and large enough for my partner and I to share. The comforter itself is light and airy, yet provides a comfortable level of warmth that I can use year-round.

I plan on using an extra blanket during the winter as needed, but since I tend to get warm at night, this comforter should be sufficient! I have not had any issues with pooling of the down nor any other complaints.

This is an interesting product. First, it is a great weight. Not overly heavy, but cozy and very warm. This fits perfectly in the duvet cover. I got this for my daughter’s full size bed, but when it came she thought I had ordered the wrong size since it was checked as a queen size.

It was not, it was a full. I usually picture sateen as a nice sheen, smooth. The exterior of this really is just a regular cotton. This is not an issue since it is encased in something, but if I wanted it to be bare, I would have been disappointed.

And, at this point, we have not used it because it smells BAD. I thought that it was just because it had been in its packaging. Nope, we are on Day 5 and it still smells terrible. I am really hoping that a bit more fresh air will make this go away, but it’s not looking good.

I have high hopes for this comforter! Especially with it being from such a reputable company.

Love my down comforter. I got the king size. Came in a tight air vacuumed bag. I layed it out on my bed and it slowly puffed up. It will continue to puff up each day as you use it. I placed mine in a duvet.

WOW! What a great comforter. You really don’t need a duvet cover to keep the feathers in since the weave is so tight on the case. But I would suggest to have a duvet cover to avoid stains on comforter.

I searched several products by dimensions and ratings as I was looking for one to fit our PB duvet cover without the PB down comforter price. I decided to go with this one due to the bigger dimensions, and I’m happy I did.

It fits perfectly! It’s lightweight but super warm in our house with temp turned down at night. I’m a little nervous about using in summer as I almost get too hot as is right now in winter. I tried a down alternative and decided it wasn’t what I wanted and the king size was way too small inside the duvet cover.

So glad I found this one with nice dimensions and great price with good quality so far! If you plan to use inside a duvet cover, check the dimensions first.

Ultimate favorite comforter though with 4 dogs I wish it came in different colors. I bought 3 for each kid and my husband and myself. Fluffy and washes well. I have always bought on qvc. Tried once in amazon and it was a bust.

Says blue ridge but it wasn’t. My advice is qvc. Expensive for down alternative and you will have to fluff it here and there but its sleeping with a cloud in my opinion.

I was concerned it might be a little too warm based on some reviews, but it’s actually perfect for me. Full and fluffy, but also light as air. It feels weighted enough to help me sleep, but I never feel overheated.

It traps my warmth and keeps me warm, but if I overheat, there’s enough air to keep me from getting too warm. That’s the power of high fill, high quality goose down. Very self regulating. It’s amazing.

I received a My Luxe Asthma and Allergy Friendly Down Comforter from my in-laws for Xmas in 2019. At the time, I wondered why they thought we would need such a warm item living in Texas, where it is rarely below freezing.

They gave us a gift receipt, so I went online to Bloomingdales website and I was astounded at the price. I also did some research about Down and found it is not just for cold weather. My husband wanted to use it immediately.

I thought we should save it for special occasions (LOL-What did I know?) We began using it the next night without a cover. To say I was impressed by the lightness of the comforter and yet how warm it was is an understatement.

The cover is thick enough that not a single feather or piece of down has come through. It is soooo light that I do not even feel the comforter most of the time! With just this one addition to our bed, I feel like I am sleeping in clouded luxury.

The my luxe down comforter is the only one I will buy. I’ve bought one for 3 different beds. Have tried other cheaper down brands but this one isn’t noisy “crunchy” and the lightweight one provides just enough warmth for winters in GA.

I have always had issues finding a comforter that both myself and my husband liked. I usually am too hot under a comforter and he is never warm enough. This is the first time in years that we are both under the comforter.

This is the first time I have ever had a goose-down comforter, so I was anxious to use my Beautyrest Cotton Hungarian Goose Down Comforter on my bed. The comforter is plush, but not too heavy, and will keep me warm (which is a good thing for Iowa weather).

The duvet is great for the price. I’m thankful in had the corner loops made it perfect inserting inside duvet cover. I was a little weird when I took in out the packaging as in was thin and flat but it fluffed right up when I inserted inside the cover.

I got a great night sleep, kept me warm and distributed the heat and did make me feel over heated. This duvet is a pretty good weight for me heavier than what I was use to at first try comparing to regular batting filled comforters.

It’s been almost a year since we bought the king size down comforter. I read reviews of some of the fill coming out but I assumed it was the initial packaging. No it is not. Im constantly vacuuming little feathers off the ground.

Every time I take the duvet cover off there a TONS OF FEATHERS EVERYWHERE. It may be soft but when they say some down comforters could be the cause of bad allergies I could see this one being the culprit.

This is the BEST COMFORTER I could have purchased after years of looking for our perfect comforter. I don’t understand why people are complaining about it, it’s all preferential that’s the bottom line.

I have been stationed in Europe a few times and that’s where I experienced my first down comforter. I could never afford one but now I can and just had to get over the fact that I would have to get it dry cleaned, (it clearly states that in pic 5).

I have been looking for the right one and now that I’m married I had to find a way for something to help keep him cool and keep me warm at the same time. We also love the crunchy sound that some people don’t like but we feel like we’re in a hotel! I cannot complain about a single thing, we are both happy and comfortable.
