20 Best Gmo Free Horse Vitamins (2023 Updated)

We use this to supplement our goats, and they love it! It is a safe way to get them the extra vitamins that they need without giving them a shot. So it is a win-win for us. Yes, it is a horse product, but with the proper care and balance of nutrition, it can be used in your herd too.

Vita Plus has been around for years. I needed a vitamin supplement for my miniature horses and was having a hard time wading through all the fancy and expensive supplements that are available these days.

I came back to Vita Plus, having used it years ago. The horses like it and it’s taking care of what I needed for them.

I’ve been using this product for years. Never had a horse refuse to eat it which has happened with other products. Three horses are over 21 now and are doing great.

We had a severely anemic llama who got hit hard by parasites that were immune to our de-worming regimine this year. He was barely holding on and very lethargic. After the vet had us do an new intensive de-worming routine, he still was weak and hardly moving.

Poor guy was just laying there all day. I was frantic trying to get him to pull through. The vet was even concerned he may not make it. Finally after finishing the de-wormer, the vet recommended we try Red Cell 15ml a day until he feels better or up to 2 weeks.

(be sure to speak with your vet first before giving this to llamas. The high copper concentrate has the potential to be toxic rather than help if misused). I gave this to him once a day (mixed in with some chopped corn and food pellets).

He was skeptical of the smell at first but after some coaxing he finally ate it. I dosed him for 3 days. Each day I could see him gaining more energy. By the 4th day I stopped dosing him because I am happy to report he is up and walking around.

He even climbed a steep hill with our sheep to explore! He is grazing regularly, no longer lethargic, and is far more alert. His response time is back to normal, and he is steadily gaining weight back to a healthy size.

I am so so happy the vet recommended this!.

Looks and smells like the human Geritol(tm) supplement. A bit messy to handle, but may be useful to get some extra iron into the diet of an older horse. Our vet recommended this, and the price is reasonable enough.

The liquid is top dressed on pelleted feed and the horses accept it without a fuss. (Haflingers, age 27-29. ).

This supplement is excellent for horses that may be dealing with a low red blood cell count. Whether it’s due to recovery from ulcers, they’re under heavy workloads or other conditions, Red Cell can help boost the Hgb.

I recommend having your vet do a blood panel to make sure though because excess iron can cause other problems.

Our horse often balked on the trail to the point where she was becoming dangerous to ride. We heard from an old school vet that she might need antioxidants, and in our searches found ShoGlo. After a few weeks of this supplement, she stopped balking and has continued to be balk-free for the last six years! I have absolutely no other scientific evidence to support that ShoGlo did the trick, but we’re believers.

After switching from a combo supplement that was no longer available I decided to try this one. So glad I did. The difference in my riding horses is definitely noticeable. Even my farrier commented on how good their hooves were.

And they have shed out their winter hair to a beautiful soft and shiny coat. Easy to feed and they eat it right up. I’m very pleased with this product and the fact that it’s not a budget breaker is another bonus.

The horses eat it willingly with their grain or hay cubes. I haven’t been feeding it long enough to say how much of a difference it makes but it definitely doesn’t hurt. I like that it has a probiotic in addition to the biotin.

I used to get this product from Amazon for $57 for a 10# bucket. I used to have to remember to order it every month. With Corro I got 2 – 10# buckets for the same price and they do auto ship. I did get a first time buyers discount but in the long run this is an awesome deal.

I needed this for one of our horses who seems to not use the mineral and selenium blocks in the pasture. She eats it well and the price was good.

I have a 17 year old Paint mare the was recently diagnosed with Cushings. I searched high and low for a vitamin E supplement that she would eat. This was the only product I found and even though it has molasses which she should stay away from the vet said the benefit of the vitamin E out weighs the risk of the sugar.

She loves it and it is helping to encourage her to eat the low carb grain she is on.

I ordered this vitamin because it appears to be a good product. Has chelated minerals so product is more bioavailable. My horse started the vitamins one week ago so too early to tell about any positive or negative effects.

My horse is suffering from a variety of skin issues so I wanted to give him a good all around vitamin/mineral. I like that it has vitamin E too. I’m hoping it will benefit my gelding. He is a 17 year old draft cross from a PMU mare.

This vitamin also smells clean and appealing, at least to my sniffer.

Started Horse Guard 4 in 1 Trifecta, recommended by a friend who has seen amazing results, especially in hoofs. Too soon to see results but I’m happy the finicky horses are eating it so just ordered more.

This product was suggested to me for a horse I had with Navicular. Of course it didn’t cure it, but it did make his hooves in much better shape. I have used this for years as a supplement for all my horses.

Excellent addition to your own custom feeding program. I’ve found that it’s more cost effective to mix my own pellets and grain rather than buy premixed bags and Horse Guard allows me to add in the vitamins/minerals necessary to round out my mix.

I’ve been feeding this for about 6 months now and my horses are doing well on it. My two horses like the taste and they look very healthy. I don’t like to feed a lot of grain so this is a great product for us.

I can feed 1lb per horse and feel like they are getting what they need nutritionally. The pellet seems fresh and I like that it is organic and not full of a bunch of fillers, however my only complaint is that the pellet is very soft and there is a lot of powder from the pellets in the bag.

Don’t get me wrong, I would rather have a softer pellet than a super hard pellet but it would be nice to have more formed pellets instead of a pile of powder to mix up.

I purchased this per recommendation of our vet due to a colt we got who was malnourished. It really seems to be helping him along with other supplements for his energy level. Chewy also has this item much cheaper than our local tractor supply so that’s great!.

This is not a good time to write a review. The old horse I got it for doesn’t like it. She is slowly learning to tolerate it. I’ve NEVER had a horse not like it before. We originally got it years ago for an old POA.

She had never shed out in the spring, even as a very young horse, and we had to literally pull the winter hairs out in the summer for 4-H shows. Years after she was done with showing, I put her on Red Cell, and incredibly enough, she never had another problem shedding out in the spring.

I’m anxious to see if and what difference it makes in our 27 year old quarter horse.

This supplement has all the vitamins my horses need, no matter their age or level of work, so I can feed it to all of them. I don’t have to worry about testing each shipment of hay I get to see what vitamins they’re lacking; I just give them Vita Plus.

The pellets are easy to feed and palatable, even for picky eaters. The price is affordable. The one drawback is the 20 lb. size comes in a box, not a plastic tub, which doesn’t hold up well and has no good closing method.

I had to save a plastic tub from a different supplement to pour the Vita Plus into so I could store and serve it more easily. Palatability: 4.

Our hay varies in quality, so we supplement with this product. Even the picky eater likes the pellets. I believe the product helps my horses stay healthy and in good weight. Their hair is soft, silky and glossy in the summer, yet grows full and thick in the fall, easily handling the frigid winter weather here.

Our rescue horse had a coarse, dry coat on arrival. Now it is soft, luxurious and dappled! Seems to help hooves grow well, solid and healthy. A good all around product.

I’ve been feeding this to my easy-keeper QH gelding for years. He’s picky, but he’ll eat this if it’s mixed with a bit of sweet feed. Highly recommended to anyone whose horse is on at least 50% grass hay, and anyone whose horse is an easy keeper.

I love this, my horses love it, and it smells divine. like apple cider. I’m happy feeding this knowing that the horses are getting the extra minerals and vitamins that may be lacking from their hay diet.

But the 5 lb bag doesn’t last long with 3 horses, and the price recently went from 15. 99 to 19. 99. Chewy really doesn’t give out a lot of coupons to their established customers, unfortunately, and they don’t carry the big bag.

This brand is hard to find in my area. I’ll probably look for a different comparable product.

I’ve had my senior horse on this supplement for the past three years and I love it, but, Chewy recently went $4 up on the price. It being added to his already long list of supplements means that $4 is a deal breaker.

I saw another review saying that Chewy doesn’t offer as many deals/coupons for existing customers and I completely agree. New customers have a much better chance at “qualifying” for a “deal”.

Been using Adm Grostrong minerals with electrolytes and natural sourced Vitamin E etc. My horses eat hay and no fresh pasture so I can it use to balance their forage diet. Reasonable price too compared to others.

My 23yr old mare has had the block in her pen for about a month and at some point bite marks appeared down one side of the block, I don’t know if she did it or something else did, but other than that, I don’t see anymore evidence that she is using it now.

I have seen this girl devour little himalayan salt blocks in nothing flat, but this big ol’ block is still standing strong. Also why are these blocks along with bags of granules not carried by feed stores? I had to have the block shipped to the TSC store a half mile from my house.

Also is it normal for the block to change color from the brand new dark brown to light brown?.

This product is great for all classes of horses, providing essiential vitamins and minerals! Many people believe a salt block with trace minerals is enough but did you know a block isn’t even designed for horses! It’s designed for cattle, who have porse tongues! And when a salt block says trace minerals it means literally small TRACE amounts and not enough to actually have any benefits! This product has a block that can easily be consumed by horses, and a horse will naturally go to the block or bag as they need it.

Sometimes they will stand next to them all day and go through them fast and other times it will go untouched for days! Trust your ponies they know what they need! While they still need salt with this, I am happy to know they are getting all their essential vitamins and minerals to keep them performing at their best!!.

I have a bunch of horses that will eat anything, and 3 of the 5 wouldn’t eat it! It’s a granular product, so they let sift to the bottom of the bucket and there it sits. Uneaten. I’m pretty sure they don’t like the texture.

It’s too bad… I really wanted them to love this product.

My horses are a little picky and one of them won’t even eat his grain at all with the go max on it. Didn’t give it to them long enough to be able to see any differences, I switched to a brand they tolerated better, so I can’t really comment on anything other than the taste.

They like cherry flavored supplements better.

Already see results in my made. She’s a rescue that I could seem to get any muscle mass on. She’s looking great and filling out nicely now.

I purchased this as a supplement to my mustang’s grass hay only diet. She has been in corrals for 4 years up until I adopted her 7 weeks ago. That being said, she has never had grain before (and really can’t be due to her being an extremely easy keeper) and learning to eat this wasnt easy.

I ended up making them into horse treats and she learned to like the taste and now eats them on their own. I can’t tell you how this will effect her but I’m happy to see lots of vitamins not always in other supplements such as copper and zinc.

We specifically were looking for a supplement containing a good amount of these due to her being black and fading quite considerably. Similar supplements of copper/zinc marketed for dark horses with the EXACT same amounts of the minerals are selling for over 40 bucks a MONTH.

Copper deficiency is thought to be a huge reason for fading so I am looking forward to seeing how this works through winter and her spring coat next year. You could tell she had a lot of mineral imbalances and I can say that her new winter coat is coming in almost blindingly shiny and dark.

Value wise, this supplement is unbeatable. What a wonderful, tasty product for such a great price. I will be using this for a long time to come. Thank you MVP for giving us such a great product at an actually affordable and sustainable price.

I think my only issue with Mega-cell is that our horse’s egos might be getting a little inflated with all the compliments they get. Both horses are incredibly shiny, have gorgeous dappling, non-fading, bold color, healthy feet and ultimately seem to be happy, more balanced animals.

Both my picky horse and horse that eats everything are happy to eat it plain, too. We are very pleased with the price and performance of this product. I have tried other products that claim to do more.

They only thing they seem to do better is deflate the pocketbook. Nothing else beats Mega-cell, in my opinion.

My mare is on a forage only diet (Timothy/orchard) & I’ve always supplemented with a vitamin/mineral product to make sure she gets everything she needs. I’ve tried 2 other “top brands” that were pretty pricey & believe it or not, LACKED certain vitamins/minerals (according to FeedXL).

But this one, Mega Cell, is IT! Everything my horse needs & her diet is balanced. Her hooves are great, her coat is dappled out, & she is healthy. I will keep her on this forever. I mix it in with her hay pellets & she eats it right up.

I have used all the expensive brands like platinum performance etc. Accel is the only supplement that actually has the recommended nutrient requirements per serving as well as preventative and maintenance joint protection and probiotics.

Most other supplements don’t have all these components as well as the correct amount anyways so even if they are cheaper you’d have to give four times the amount plus a joint and gut health supplement.

I have done side by side comparisons of ingredients and ppm for every top supplement on the market as well as I have tried them all. Accel lifetime is not only scientifically formulated its quality has also been proven first hand in experience with my own horses over the last 10 years.

So, I bought this for a horse with some lameness that I am helping care for, when the owner said she is in so much pain maybe she needs to be put down. After a week of 2 scoops a day ( to start and reduced to one after a couple weeks), the owner said “she is not as lame as she was” and no more talks of being put down.

Mind you the owner had said it was fine to give the supplement but was away for that first week and so the comment was purely observational. Now, we are talking about getting shoes on her and being able to use her for simple trail rides again, pleasure rides only, not for work.

She is 26 so still has some time left if she is not in pain, and I do believe this supplement (there were no other changes to her diet) has given her a new lease in life, and I am so thankful I tried this FIRST! I may be inexperienced with horses, but I know my supplements, and the first thing I looked for in a horse supplement was the GLUTATHIONE building supplement, and this is the only one I have seen on the market.

I have been using this product for years and now I use it everyday in my 32oz protein shake. It is a high potency in most if not all of the vitamins and minerals. I have hunted for other products like this one and I can tell you there just seems to be no equalivent or alternative to this product that is as a good value and has the power that I have experienced in this product.

I remember when this product was not quite so expensive, and I think it used to be a much better value years ago. I have also tried the other versions of this product like the one for Seniors, but the taste is so bad I will not buy it again.

The greens phyto version is not desirable either. I know they have their value, but not for me. The original is the only one I recommend and is all I will ever use. With my limited income and disability I can only wish I could find a better price.

It is hard to buy this as I have to sacrifice something else. I still love this product and will use it in my diet everyday.

I agree with Roger P. , who complained that the product doesn’t mix well. I’ll add that the original is worse than the 2nd formula, since it becomes gummy. The 2nd formula remains in suspension. Brans of all types tend to do that.

I don’t use a blender, just H20 and I stir the mix with a spoon. Either formula probably makes good mulch or compost. Suggestions: If you can tolerate the sugar, you might enjoy gummies. I’ve switched to Purity Products’s Women’s Perfect Multi.

I can chew the tablets for easy swallowing.

My horses absolutely love these licks. We provide them as boredom busters for the winter and they go crazy over them. The only downside is the bucket itself is cumbersome when it gets low. They knock it off the wall trying to get the last bit, put their hoof in it, etc.

The RGV has salt and calcium in high concentrations in the water which can keep minerals from being absorbed properly by our horses. This product has the sulfur and sugars needed to balance and flush these unwanted excesses out of the horses systems , thus allowing them to absorb the nutrition they need to be healthy.

Horses drink more water in the heat so by having this free choice they can fix themselves whenever they feel they need it! This has reduced my feed costs and helped all my horses be less stressed and it helps makes them look fantastic!.

My cousin feeds this to her horses and recommended it. I got one and it has only lasted a week with my 3 horses, they LOVE IT!!! Because of winter, vitamin and minerals are less available through roughage and hay, which is why I believe they have gone through the first one so quickly.
