20 Best Glue For Speaker Repair (2023 Updated)

This product is the real Mcoy for a job that requires a true sealant. I used this recently to seal a repair on a determinedly leaky garden bird bath, pure RTV silicone sealer is the only thing that will withstand immersion in all weather conditions.

The fact that it can be used to assemble all-glass aquariums tells you all you need to know about its adhesive strength and sealing properties. Not to be confused with the cheaper silicone-based sealants sold for domestic use in bathroom sealants etc.

This product works excellent on convertible tops! I always desire convertibles, but after owning one for a couple of months, I sell them, get annoyed, buy another and repeat this process too many times according to my wife.

Permatex has and will always be my “go to” for sealing up an engine. Whether I’m working on a motorcycle or automobile they always have what I need and a great product. Just did a timing belt on the old 1999 Honda Civic with 235k miles and oil pan gasket while I was down there, permatex is what I used where needed on the engine and it got us safely to and back from Justin TX and we live in Ada,OK.

Thats a five hour round trip with a fuel/leg stretch stop. Thanks permatex for the peace of mind and autozone for the parts and products keeping this old car kicking. By the way we got 35/36 miles per gallon average, I topped the car off and reset the trip meter and divided it by the gallons it took to refill the car.

More accurate in my opinion than the modern day on board computers that try to calculate to many variables.

There are times when “black” colored silicone adhesive or sealant is nice to have. There are not many brands of black colored silicone in a tube out there, and Permatex is probably the best of those.

With regard to the adhesion and “texture” of the product once set, I can only compare it to the GE Silicone which works so well. I think the GE Silicone II is top notch: Dries firm yet pliable and has excellent adhesion.

This Permatex product, not as much. I have found that while it is a good sealer where a black silicone is needed, it is not a “great” sealer as it can be a little runny, a thinner viscosity than the clear GE Silicone, and takes seemingly long to dry.

I also had a project “pull apart” using the Permatex only to re-do it with GE Silicone II to achieve satisfactory results. The “rare” black color earns it credit. But the dry time, inconsistent setting up and lack of finished pliability knocks it down.

Overall, 4 stars although I wish it were worthy of a 5th star.

I bought this product in an attempt to seal a leaky radiator top on my 1998 Subaru. The top of this radiator is plastic and developed a crack due to a manufacturing defect. To be fair the car has 217000 miles on it.

I have tried a few other products and they mostly work but have over time failed to completely seal this crack. This is the latest attempt to seal that leak. I have not had enough time to make sure this time it will seal.

The product is easy to use as all you do is squeeze equal amounts of the two tubes onto a disposable surface (cardboard) then mix until it blends into a gray paste/putty. Then use whatever you find useful to apply and spread around.

I have found that it is easier to apply when the radiator is warm as this softens the mix and makes it easier to fill any cracks. The drawback to this product is that you will need to leave it untouched for 15-24 hours.

I use this to repair damaged engine blocks on motorbikes mainly on sumps and gearbox casings. Repaired a sump bolt issue on dt125 using this product and new bolt which I lightly wrapped with teflon tape so that it could be unscrewed after inserting into damaged area reinforced with JB weld.

1 year later the repair does not leak oil and the epoxy is not deteriorated. Make sure the repair area is oil/grease/dirt free – I usually degrease all the surrounding area with petrol and scrub with plastic brush or scrap off all the heavy encrusted grease and dirt,(even better clean the whole block down before dismantling) then use rubbing alcohol liberally sprayed on the whole thing and wiped off with new paper shop towels or kitchen towels then repeat process with brake cleaner/ degreaser /acetone whatever you have again using fresh clean towels.

JB weld can be very fluid so I usually make an enclosure using masking tape to keep the epoxy from running all over the place. Then finish the repair with dremel sander to finish.

Easy to use and does a good job patching steel. The only issue is because it has a long cure time unless you apply it on a perfectly horizontal surface it tends to run which means you may have to apply a second layer to fill in the gap left when it runs.

Unless you really need the strength of the steel reinforced version of JB-Weld you would probably be better off using the fast curing version. Unless you only need a little bit the large size (283 gr.

) is the much more economical value.

This 08115 will bond just about anything together, great for metals, plastics, wood, and about anything you want to bond. Best to allow it to dry overnight, however once applied, if the product is out in the direct sunlight, it will harden to usable strength in about 4 to 5 hours.

Great stuff. relative to automotive repair, I have put on roof panels, bedside panels on pick up trucks, and “continuous bond” is stronger than spot welds, and also there is no bare metal in between panels like when a panel is spot or plug welded in place.

I have used it to fill pinholes in metal after sandblasting and there was rust-through. This product is not like body filler that will pop out with rust again.

I have a Husky chainsaw that the fuel tank seam leaked. I came across a chain website and one guy swore on this product so it is a bit pricey but I bought some. I use a dowel to squeeze out the two tunes and mixed manually, applied to the seam giving it a day to harden.

This stuff is an old car owner’s best kept secret! I have a 95 Eclipse that I love dearly, but the sideskirts staying up are a known devil of a problem. Even after buying oem everything and reapplying all the fasteners, they still fell after a year, they just snap off.

So after some digging on the forums, someone suggested this, and I had to give it a go. I will warn, the application gun needed is just as expensive, so borrow one if you can, like I did from a local shop.

But this is the end solution to trim pieces that just refuse to be held in by retainers alone. Something I will always keep in my tool box from now on!.

I bought this glue to repair a pair of favourite shoes where the heals had worn down. If you go to the Stormsure website, you can watch their video. But do NOT follow their instructions! Using brown tape to create a trough to pore the glue in to does not work well because the glue tends to leak through.

Use Bluetack to create a trough which results in a much better seal. Also depending on the depth of rubber that you are trying to build up, it can literally take days to set (you could try applying in thinner layers, but i did not try this).

Having said all of that, the end result works and will give your older shoes a new lease of life. Also avoid decent shoes ending up in landfill. Good luck!.

Absolutely love this product. Bought the black Stormsure to repair various items. A little goes a long way and I leave it overnight to cure. I am as happy as a lark! Have previously tried gorilla, super glue but this one works the best.

Two pairs of thermal wellies to repair and I was on the verge of spending money on replacements until I came across this product. Followed the YouTube guidance/instructions and the repair is fantastic – worn a number of times since and holding up brilliantly.

Both were splits one 75mm long (photo) the other 50mm. Obviously its not the prettiest of repairs – but it is quite inconspicuous and in any case they are functional thermal boots not fashion statements! I opted for the clear colour as one pair green one pair black.

I have used this adhesive on a wide range of mediums (papers, thin plastics, cardboard, fabric, photographic film, metals (I recommend experimenting first with some of these)) and been very pleased with its performance.

It sets up fairly fast ( approximately twice as fast as regular white glue) making it useful to tack things together quickly. It is stronger that I had imagined; I glued a glass jewelers loupe to a metal surface that hangs on a wall so the loupe is cantilevered and it is still holding after 4 years (I cleaned the surfaces very thoroughly prior to attaching).

It cleans up easily with water and has very minimal odor. It stays flexible after drying-nice for fabric arts.

I bought these and installed them as replacements for the dried out woofer surrounds on my Audio Research (AR) 15 speakers. Most modern speakers use a foam surround around the paper cone of a magnetized speaker coil.

The foam surround allows the speaker cone to move back and forth rapidly to make the sound we hear. When the foam surrounds dry out and deteriate over time, the speakers don’t sound as good as they did originally.

Replacing the foam surrounds usually return the speaker to its previous sound. Surround kits include special adhesive and a spacing tool with instructions on how to remove the old surround and replace it with the new surround.

The instructions provided are very important so go with a company whose reviews brag about the quality of the replacement parts and the instructions provided. If you are the least bit adventuresome and steady handed, you can replace surrounds using good instructions and support.

The replacement kits are specific for each brand and model and size speaker so be sure and get the right kit before starting. Good luck.

Older infinity home speakers have a hard plastic face trim ring that is glued to the frame of the speaker instead of a rubber gasket. you must remove it to preform this foam repair. To remove it use rubbing alcohol to dissolve and foam under it.

first remove as much of the old foam as possible Next put speaker upside down in a sink{ face down) carefully pour alcohol onto outer ring until its lightly flooded all around. The alcohol only affects the glue and old foam under the ring soak for 3-5 min then pour out and dry with a rag.

Using a small Flathead screwdriver carefully insert between ring and frame in a prying motion working your way around the frame The ring will slowly dislodge. after removing the ring soak a area of a rag with alcohol and scrub the bottom of ring and top of frame to dissolve remaining foam your rag should become black with dissolved foam.

The old glue can be left on frame, You cant get all of it off anyways. now proceed with the original instructions steps. This worked for me and i left message with the seller to incorporate these steps in their instructions.

Did the job, but it’s worth mentioning a few improvements that could really help the kit. The first is minor, but there were parts of the outer edges of the surrounds that weren’t trimmed after coming out of the mold.

It doesn’t affect performance, but it doesn’t look good or especially professional. To be fair this might have been a mistake that someone didn’t catch. Second, the adhesive is not great to work with.

It’s ok, but it’s not as good as the other main seller of surrounds (who are more expensive, so there’s that). Also, the bottle is a little too hard, so when you get down to the last quarter of the job you have to squeeze the tube pretty hard because it doesn’t want to move much.

The applicator is good. So, all in all, they do the job, but it could be a better product with a few minor changes.

Finally a super glue that works! I was so tired of buying super glue only to be disappointed of their performances! I never tried this brand, so I read the reviews and decided with the brush on. I really like this glue.

First of all, it’s easy to apply. I had a small wood elephant tusk to glue back on. I tried other brands even wood glue and they all failed! So on the hunt for a new glue. I took a chance on this brand and IT WORKED!! A strong bond was achieved on a tiny size of the pointy end of a toothpick! Next, I had a ceramic elephant dish that the trunk got broken off during shipping.

Again, I didn’t’ think any glue would work because of past experiences. But, IT WORKED! You can’t tell it was ever broken off! I am so grateful that I finally found this. It will be my go to because it works on different materials! Give it a try, I hope it works for you as it has for me!.

Easy and safe application and last a long time after opening. Unlike a lot of other superglues I have tried this is by far the best because it doesnt go solid within days of opening it. I have never understood why superglues that are designed to be used in small amounts go solid and unusable in such a short timeframe.

My last bottle of Loctite lasted easily 12 months and got used and used and used. Right down to the last drop in the corner. I hope the replacement lasts as long and works as well. Easy and safe application and last a long time after opening Amended Dec 2012.

Well some do I havent identified why as yet but one bottle has remained really fluid and usable whilst the other has gone solid Both where used at about the same time and both stored in similar locations so why one should go solid is a mystery.

I recently installed a new lithium ion battery in an old but excellent Bluetooth speaker. In order to open the speaker housing I had to remove the round rubber pads (“feet”) on the bottom to access several screws that secure an access panel.

The glue that held these rubber pads to the metal speaker bottom is more than 10 years old and needed to be peeled off and replaced with a fresh adhesive. Elmer’s rubber cement turned out to be excellent for this purpose because it, too, can be peeled off and refreshed if I need to open the speaker case again.

This rubber cement has just the right amount of “stick” to secure the rubber pads to the metal speaker bottom, but not so much that the pads can’t be peeled off again to access the screws underneath.

This speaker repair used only a tiny amount of the rubber cement. The bottle has now bveen added to the family crafting equipment for gluing photo paper to other paper and wood surfaces.

I purchased several bottles of Elmer’s Rubber Cement and I highly recommend it when attaching pictures or paper to poster or foam boards for display. This Rubber Cement does not smell and it has a brush applicator that is easy to use.

A little goes a long way. Just make sure the items you are gluing down are fully dry before moving the board to an upright position. My displays are still fully intact and it has been more than three months since I assembled them.

Strongly recommend this product.

I had purchased two LARGE. bottles of Rubber cement several years ago for a scrapbook I was putting together for my American Legion Auxiliary. I’m their Historian and have been procrastinating for a long time.

Well, I finally got the thing all put together except for several pages and the Rubber Cement that I bought from you several years ago was still perfect and I used both jars of it putting there scrapbook together so I came in and bought om=]ne more bottle and used almost all of it too.

Great product and Office Dep[ort always has whatever I need in office supplies.

Devcon 5 minute epoxy in a pair of 125ml bottles is a lot more convenient and much better value than tubes or syringes which leak and get messy. I drilled a 2mm hole in the top of each spout rather than cutting them off.

This allows a thin bead of each part before to be dispensed, allowing accurate assessment of the relative quantities for accurate mixing and the strongest possible joint. I tend to put the epoxy and hardener on to the faces to be bonded and mix them there, avoiding waste.

Having been using a variety of other epoxies recently, I was impressed how Devcon 5 minute really did set quickly and hard, rather than staying rubbery for ages like a lot of other 5 minute epoxies. A bit of gentle heat from a hot air gun or hair drier reduces the viscosity and wets it out across the surface nicely.

All in all, Devcon DV20945 5 minute is easy to use, with minimal mess, and gives an excellent bond.

If you need more than one or two small batches of epoxy, this is a good choice. The equivalent amount in the tiny syringes is 10 syringes (. 85oz/ea). that would cost about $50. This is $15. The epoxy seems good, at 6 minutes it is starting to kick.

I used it to glue down a 10 foot piece of flexible LED strip in a spiral, so only 4-6 inches could be done at one time. This worked well, and the epoxy holds well. Mix for 1-2 min, work for 2-3 minutes and clamp.

At 10 minutes, it’s set enough to remove the clamps and start the next mix.

My ‘go to’ adhesive. Reliable and simple to use, I have even used for small moulding tasks. Highly recommended and the larger the pack more economical to use. This is my fourth pack.

Gasket taping worked very well. Was easy to install around the outer speaker frame/basket on the larger woofer and the smaller tweeter. With cheaper gasket taping the adhesive side will sometimes peel off making it hard to work with.

This was not the case here. Would recommend!.
