20 Best Glue For Silicone Rubber (2023 Updated)

I have a special slot in my workbench for a number of special purpose boards to meet my hobby needs. One I wanted to make is to do light electronic and model making soldering. I had the silicone rubber pad for the surface, drilled quarter inch holes an eighth inch deep in the wooden board, then used a Dremel dovetail bit to undercut the edges of the 25 holes.

I thoroughly cleaned both mating surfaces as described by the company, then filled the holes with SIL-poxy and clamped. That was more than two months ago. Since then at least half the time the silicone pad has been on the under side of that board while I’ve used the other side with a self-healing pad for other crafting purposes.

There is no sign of bellying or loosening of the silicone rubber pad, so I am very pleased with this adhesive product, especially since nothing else seems to bond with silicone rubber.

I’m upset cause this won’t stick to several silicone materials and cost 22 for. 5oz. It appears to be just regular silicone caulk for a caulk gun for a few dollars. Smells and looks the same. Sometimes a huge price is a big ripoff.

I going find flexable superglue that sticks to silicone.

Worked great on one torn mold, but not the other. Two different types of material apparently. When it’s compatible it works great. I used it on the one it failed to hold, and used a needle and thread to tie the flaps together, and now it’s holding.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

I needed to find a product to adhere silicone pads to the plastic nose guards on my prescription glasses. Nothing worked until I tried a small dollop of Devcon silicone adhesive. I first roughed up the smooth surface of the nose guards with a sandpaper nail file.

Then, after applying the adhesive and holding the two pieces together for 10-15 minutes, let it cure overnight. It’s been over a week and the pads are still on tight. I’m sure I can find many other uses for this excellent adhesive.

Would certainly recommend it.

The best functioning silicone glue I’ve used, and that’s a lot! It’s a bit messy at the tip, but they all are, and it dries so quickly, the messy tip hardly matters.

I needed to repair a tear in the surface layers on a painting. i needed to get the super glue down about an inch. I picked this glue because it was of a medium thickness, and the kit included flexible micro-tube nozzles.

The instructions said that one spot of glue would cover about qon square in, when compressed. I squirted what I hoped to be small drops of glue at several points down near the bottom of the tear, where I couldn’t see.

Then I removed the nozzle. Then I compressed both sides of the tear. Worked great.

If you already had a root canal and your crown keeps coming off forget the $5000 implant. I used and recommend this. My crown has remained in place without multiple trips to the dentist. Just be careful, dry the area and don’t glue it to your fingers, cheek or tongue.

Steak, popcorn or other crunchy goodies have not taken my crown off my tooth when using StarBond Gel Thick Type. Hope it’s as good for you as it has been for me.

I have tried different brands of silicone over the years and most are pretty much the same, with the biggest variation being price. Caulking is a good thing given the caulk holds up and works. I find 100% silicone is very effective in sealing and being waterproof.

Lasts. Dries clear like it should. Fills the cracks like caulking is supposed to. A bit goopy, but that’s normal The clean up is a bit more than other acrylic caulking, you need mineral spirits. So wear gloves.

he only things you have to worry about when using it as a project adhesive: 1. If you’re using it to attach things for projects, it can come apart if it takes a sharp blow or falls. I don’t recommend it for areas which will be bearing a lot of weight or tension.

2. If you use it attach natural stones to something, be aware that very porous stones like limestone or sandstone may react adversely and dissolve over a few weeks. Silicone is more than caulk. It’s also a great adhesive.

I used this product to adhere mylar-backed bubble insulation to my garage doors. It sets up quickly and holds most materials. Most importantly, it doesn’t get hard, brittle or shrink, so it will last a very very long time.

I used this to seal up where the backsplash was separating from the wall. I hope to keep out water from dripping behind there and bugs from going behind there. I cut the tip to the smallest size because I didn’t want to create a goopy mess.

Dispensing the product was super easy. It might take a little strength to squeeze it out thought especially if you are using the smallest opening. But once you get it going and get the hang of it, it’s easy to use.

I squeezed out a line and was happy that it’s not super noticeable. The pics are before and after applying, but I went a step further and smoothed out the line (not pictured) to make things look a little neater.

That was easy too as long as you do it immediately before the sealant starts to cure.

I have found so many great uses for this sealant! I love that it’s clear. We have done a door frame repair, a window leak repair, and sealed up some old weather stripping with this stuff. It hasn’t failed us and does a great job even when it gets wet.

The sealant still holds. I will say that you need to be careful with the tube. Instead of squeezing it out, start by rolling the bottom a little at a time to get the sealant out. It will save you some frustration of wasting product.

But honestly, it is such a versatile sealant that you will find so many uses for. You’ll want to always have a tube of this around the house for repairs. I give it 5 stars without hesitation.

Sugru is quite expensive, wherever you buy it. I was doing a special project with a package that I had bought online, but ran out part way through the project. I saw that it was available at Canadian Tire, and made the trip to pick some up, to complete my project.

When I got home I opened the little cardboard box that it comes in, and when I opened one of the little plastic sachets containing the Sugru, I noticed it was very firm. Normally it’s pliable, but this was very stiff.

The product is supposed to be very pliable, and when you use it you’re supposed to mould it to the shape you need. In this case I couldn’t do that because it was so stiff. It was at room temperature too, so it wasn’t stiff because of the cold weather or storage.

I checked the package and on one end of the cardboard box the expiry date showed it was months past the due date. I called Canadian Tire and as usual, they were very good at accepting the product back for a full refund.

I would recommend that anyone buying it check the expiry date on the box before purchasing. Better still, call the store and have one of the staff check the product expiry date before you make the trip to the store.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this glue! I have cats who knock collectibles down all the time. A red dragon collectible had his head broken off at the neck, and was not a good candidate for fixing with superglue (uneven break, etc).

I was trying to think of a way to reconstruct a neck. and voila! – a little moldable glue pressed around it, and his head is back on! With the leftover portion in the pack, I recreated the broken off horns and wing tips of the 2 silver dragons that the cats had also broken (pictured).

This made my day! This is something I would definitely use, as I am always fixing broken things. This product makes me very happy! 🙂 I will try to add some color to it later to blend in better – but even without added color, it looks much better than before!.

This glue is so amazing. It is very soft. Feels like play doh. It can be molded in any shape. Comes in different colors. I used it to fix my flip flop strap and it is still holding up. Sticks to anything but it it also removeable.

Can even hold shelves up. I highly recommend this product. You will love it as much as I do.

I hate having different sealants for different applications. This is supposed to cover everything necessary on an engine during rebuilding. There’s more than one style of the black gasket maker. Make sure you get the one that’s important for your application.

This one was for better oil resistance.

Had my truck manual transmission rebuilt by a well known shop and noticed they used a black RTV. I contacted the shop and they said they use the Locktite brand. Further research showed that Locktite makes this high heat oil resistant version.

I used it to add a cooler to the PTO cover and to seal the transfer case to the transmission. I guess only time will tell once I get my truck on the road.

The reason I bought this RTV Silicone is because I needed to seal a rubber grommet between a clutch cover and an engine casing. The grommet was leaking oil, so it needed to be resealed with new adhesive.

So far, the oil leak is sealed. My worries was that it was not going to work because of the high heat, but the RTV Silicone is holding up real good.

Ive used this product successfully on a variety or products. More specifically on small repairs inside of the car. It worked great on correcting some drooping headliner areas. I also used it to replace the center console vinyl wrap.

The cement went on easily and did not wrinkle. It does set quickly so you have to work fast. The bottle size and applicator was easy to use and open but it can make a slight mess if not careful. My daughter removed the peanut from its shell and glued the peanut shell back together to play a trick on her brother.

The glue worked perfectly on the peanut shell. Im certain I’ll have many more uses for this in the near future.

We love using Gorilla Rubber Cement for our photo collages and our school projects. This is easy for the kids to use and if they make a mistake, this can easily be peeled off or removed. I really like that this is non-yellowing and doesn’t bleed through photos and dries crystal clear.

When closed, it seals airtight so it doesn’t dry out and can be used until it is gone. The brush makes it so easy to apply and is non-wrinkling. We always have a couple of jars handy for projects. Great product!!.

The glue works well for getting pictures to stick, but it doesn’t dry very quickly and can get messy. If you over apply it, you have a mess. That’s easy to do with the brush applicator. Since the brush is attached to the lid, you got a lot of the glue on there and you really have nothing to scrape it off onto except for the edge of the bottle.

if you scrape it there, then you’re going to have a mess where are you screw on the lid. So things are going to get messy with this. It works, but it just takes a long time to dry and can get messy.

Best glue on the market. Can use it for almost anything. I can even attach stones to jewelry and they stay on. Useful for repairing wood, glass, etc. I even fix wallpaper with just a small amount. I have attached prisms on antique lamp and they are still being supported by this glue after 25 years.

I use this product for mosaic. I do a lot of stained glass pieces on windows or glass table tops. It dries clear and I’ve never had a piece come loose. Stiff enough to hold pieces in place on vertical surfaces.

Also, great results outdoors gluing tile pieces on cement. It is waterproof and fine in the sun. I highly recommend this glue for any mosaic project.

I use this glue to make yard art flowers out of glassware. It’s the only glue I’ve found that holds up in the Texas heat and in freezing temperatures.

I’ve had success with Flex Tape products in the past, but hadn’t tried their glue formula until recently. What took me so long? There’s so much to love. Application is easy, using a caulk applicator.

I was impressed with the viscosity of this glue. It stays put, and doesn’t drip or run. It helped me repair one of the original windows to my home, dating back to 1950, which had a broken glass pane.

I was able to set it in place in the garage (always be aware of off-gassing in adhesive products and use in a well-ventilated area), and within a few minutes, it was firmly in place. It’s recommended to work quickly, as it won’t move much, if at all, 10 minutes after application.

Still, I let it sit for a week to fully cure, and installed it into the home. It’s crystal-clear and doesn’t impede my view. I have peace of mind knowing it will not budge in the ice-cold Upstate winters, where we get the occasional -20°F wind chill a few times a season, as it is rated for temperatures as low as -40°F.

All in all, it’s a phenomenal product. I’d recommend it to anyone who needs a permanent bond in their projects and doesn’t want unsightly visible glue marring appearances.

This is a good product for miscellaneous construction projects or repair jobs. I used this in a few applications and while it works very well compared to others on the market there are some that are better depending on what you are using this for.

while the info commercial shows the instant gripping a brick to another brick that is not entirely accurate. They use excessive amounts and also don’t hold it up for very long. The instructions clearly state you need to apply pressure for about 30 seconds.

It will hold decent if you hold for 30 seconds or longer or in some cases temporary bracing. I used this to glue wood to the wall for making shelves and if you do not hold for 30 plus seconds it will sag of fall off.

I also used outside to fix a veneer stone that was falling off outdoors and it works very well. Overall its a pretty good product and fairly pleased in the application I used it for. If you base it solely of the commercial it may not live up to your full expectation but it is darn close.

So far this is the only thing that Ive found to be acceptable for glueing RubberCal X-Derm rubber sheet to aluminum. 3M 77 spray hasnt worked too well and came loose. The X-Derm is made of recycled tires.

I think this is called SBR rubber and nothing seems to stick to it very well but the 3M 1300 works fairly well, following the directions and allowing plenty of time for drying (24+ hours) with firm pressure.

I used this product to install new rubber tires on a woodworking bandsaw. This is the second time I have done this procedure on this saw. The first set of tires I replaced lasted 18 years of daily use in a cabinet shop.

The tire supplier recommended an epoxy for the larger sized tires that I installed. (30″) So I ordered the epoxy from them along with the tires. The epoxy lasted about a week before letting one of the tires come off.

I ordered this glue to replace the epoxy because I know that I can count on it to do the job.

The weather stripping of my car came loose and proved impossible to find at a reasonable price without buying another weather stripping. This stuff did a terrific job securing the rubber weather stripping to the metal inside my car door.

It has made it through heat and cold, and saved me quite a bit of money and hassle. Just be deliberate with it, because it’s going to stick to whatever it touches.

I fixed the pesky common coffee pot problem of a little morning joe dripping out as you pour from the pot to your cup. I took apart the plastic ring on the top and handle only to see their was a factory bead of silicone between the glass pot and the pour spout.

In my case coffee had eaten away at the silicone in the very spot where you pour, so I ran down to my hardware store and grabbed this food safe silicone and created a new, heavier bead between the 2 surfaces, put it back together and clamped it over night to dry.

Haven’t had a drop spill since!.

The reason for the 3 is that the bottom of the tube split open so we were unable to save the unused portion for later use. It was used to replace some mosaic in a bird bath and appears to be doing quite well.

Was pretty amazed at how well this stuff actually works. Not just it’s ability to cure as a flexible material, but to also adhere to what it is formed around. Once fully dried, it acts like a medium/stiff rubber, that appears to be rather strong so far.

I imagine over time and with continued stress, it may slowly work itself away from whatever surface it was bonded too. But, for quick and easy repairs to items that still need a bit more flexibility- it’s perfect.

The material itself is soft and pliable right out of the package, like a cross between Silly Putty and Play-Doh (or a slightly more rubbery version of a polymer clay, like Super Sculpey, if you’re familiar with that) You should already be thinking about how you’ll be using it before you open the package, as it starts to solidify once exposed to air.

Though, you still have a generous ammount of time to mold it into shape, and it will fully cure within 24 hours. While still soft, it can be manipulated into any shape, and can mix and bond with itself quite easily, as long as you keep it clean.

Maybe good to keep in mind, I’m pretty decent with my hands and actually sculpt and make stuff frequently. If you’re not very good at shaping something with your hands- that will definitely be reflected in the results.

My repairs look really clean, and aren’t too noticeable, even after just working on my project for about 10 minutes. But, Sadly, I know some people really are just all-thumbs, and manage to make a mess of everything (not judging, just being real).

If you feel you may be one of these people, this may be a waste of money, unless you don’t care how it functions/looks in the end. As expected It smells like a foul caustic plastic/rubber material, but this odor can’t be easily detected after it’s been allowed to dry completely.

It also leaves an oily residue on your hands, so you’ll want to be sure to wipe that away with a paper towel before you attempt washing your hands. It is a bit pricey, so you may want to save it for repairs that can ONLY be made with a rubbery adhesive.

I don’t recommend using it flippantly, since it’s probably not so great for the environment.

For the right applications, this material is pretty amazing. This is not an industrial/utility adhesive as much as it is an aesthetic solution with some utility strengths. Sugru allows you to solve a lot of household nags and problems with some color and ingenuity.

It holds very well when instructions are followed, but is not a load-bearing anchor. It doesn’t hold up well under a lot of pressure or friction (fixing shoe soles with it, for example, doesn’t work – it crumbles off underfoot – but patching the top of your lawnmowing shoes to get a few more months out of them works unbelievably well).

I used this pack to patch some screwholes in the bathroom tile on the wall and got rid of some unsightly holes. I used the rest to make my coffee mug fit my fingers better (see? Aesthetic AND ergonomic).

Other ways I’ve used it have included patching holes in a tent, making thumb grips for kitchen tools like knives and pizza cutters, putting soft rubber wings on the tips of my drum tuning key to make it more comfortable to use, and one of my favorites was sugru-ing a magnet on the bathroom wall/another magnet on the bathroom doorknob to keep a straying door open so I don’t bonk into it in the middle of the night.

Think of Sugru as adult PlayDoh with real applications. You can do fun stuff like making your kitchen utensils work better, or more practical things like repairing fraying USB cables to avoid spending $15 more, again and again, to keep using stuff you already paid for.

It’s not for kids to use, but parents can use Sugru to soften/round off sharp concrete or wood corners, make the bath faucet stop being razor sharp, make a tablet or iPod Touch more grippy and/or shatterproof (put balls of Sugru on each corner and be amazed).

I don’t work for Sugru, but I do swear by this stuff. It’s fun to use, and once you do, you will start finding more and more uses for it. Highly recommend!.

The GOOD: multiple colors, malleable, turns into a “hard rubber” on curing (not a plastic, still slightly soft, like a basketball), gives you the chance to fix things in the “plastic” world with more than just glue and hope.

The BAD: once you open a packet, it’s use it or lose it. For most applications, this is just fine — they give you ball of the stuff about the size of half a man’s thumb. but if you are looking to use it for something small (e.

g. I’ve seen people suggest using Sugru to refill numbering on appliance knobs that have worn clear), then you’re frantically looking for other places to apply this stuff before the whole ball cures and you have to throw it away.

The VERDICT: this is nifty stuff and definitely does what it promises — if you smush it around a wobbly plastic part, it will become a solid rubber boot to support that part. When you look to use a packet, either prepare to toss the extra, or line up all your jobs at once and do them in the 30+ minutes you have – not difficult.

HELPFUL SUGGESTION: if you’re repairing something visible, get a razor blade or other flat piece of metal to help shape the putty (and maybe a spoon for curving). Otherwise, your fix will look like a blob of colored silly putty, complete with thumb prints.

Great to seal windows that leak, also any repair that needs glue and needs to be water tight, I have used Devcon waterproof silicone adhesive for many years for all kinds of repair and have always had great results every time.

It cures to a rubbery and stretchy consistency, useful for all types of sealing purposes. Doesn’t crack the way acrylic sealants tend to do over time. The tube is not resealable after opening as it has no cap, so you have to make provisions to seal it yourself or just use the tube up in one shot.

Pricing at HF is good compared to other local sellers.

This stuff is great for gluing unlike materials together. Like aluminum expands and contracts a lot with a change in temperature changes , So say you made a bird feeder and plan to attach it on a window, using an aluminum frame.

Then using a thickness of about a half inch will allow the flexibility of the silicone to weather both hot & cold. Using a step latter or something else to hold the bird feeder or what ever in place, Then mark the gluing area with tape.

Then move the bird feeder and apply a generous amount o f silicone to the glass and also the feeder. Then when it is about 40° F then glue the previously glued areas together. Then you have bird feeder/feeders right in plain sight for years to come.

If you get tired of it, a razor scrapper will remove it cleanly.

This is a great product. It’s workable for several minutes and the work surface can be easily cleaned with dry paper towels before it begins to skim, which is a great quality where neat joints matter.

It’s slightly runny but not so much so that it will drip down and out of a vertical gap/joint. Use disposable gloves because it is a bit messy.

We have a Jacuzzi, Laser hot tub which is known by folks in the business as a “Dinosaur”. As would be the nature of materials used to form it, over its 30 years of existence, things dry up & shrink. Water sealed joints and over-laps [particularly with the skimmers] begin to leak.

If fact, leakage was to such a point that I used 6 mill poly to form a pan underneath the tub which collected the water into a 5 gal bucket. This was after I tried varieties of construction adhesives &/or silicones to stop the 20 gallons of leaking, daily.

After about a year & 1/2, since I used the Boss 802, the tub still doesn’t leak anymore. I’ve kept the 6 mill pan w/ 5 gal bucket & check it whenever to find rain water. Before I calked, I made sure ALL the areas were thoroughly cleaned with rubbing alcohol as a rinse.

Allowing plenty of time to dry, I used the Boss 802, making sure the joints were filled. [no time to skimp!] I waited a full 5 days for curing before refilling the tub; to the top of the skimmers! Great Stuff! I’m purchasing more as I have found it very useful in several other types of applications.

Hot tub began loosing water rapidly. Discovered a leaky filter housing. Removed all the old silicone, cleaned well, applied the Boss 802. Let sit 24 hours since it is submerged in the water. Seems to have done the trick.

No issues since. Easy to work with and tool. Nice product.

I had leaks around my marine speakers and one air control valve, I removed all pieces and laid a bead around each hole. I was able to check for leaks within 10 plus minutes. worked great. prior I tried standard bath and kitchen caulk didn’t work.
