Bought this instead of permatex because ace hdwre did not carry permatex version. Big mistake for starters after 2 part mix it is still very fluid to start, never really thickens and hard to fill cracks as it just flows through crack does not stay on surface.

Ive repaired tons of plastic items and filling a crack with the epoxy is the goal so the break bonds together with the material. After 24hrs the bond material is still STICKY to touch hence not dry! Have a hard time believing this withstands 3900psi if it wont even dry! As far as a two part epoxy go with PERMATEX its thick out of container, FILLS the cracks bonding it and drys SOLID in less than an hour.

JB weld needs to go back to the drawing board on this one!.

It’s not nearly as hard as the SteelStik (the dark gray putty made by JB Weld), but it’s really, really sticky. I needed to repair the handle on a steam mop, and when I got the pieces apart I saw it was ABS (thanks to the >ABS< mark on it - Sherlock Holmes I'm not), so I glued the edges with the black ABS pipe cement I had.

It was probably almost as strong as it was before, but that wasn’t very strong, so I got some of the putty and built up the inside of the handle around the break. I also did some experiments where I put bits of putty on the (slick) inside of a piece of ABS pipe I had in the garage (which I wiped off with my finger), and this stuff really sticks.

I managed to pull it off later, but only because the putty wasn’t fully cured and it broke, leaving part of the putty stuck on the inside of the pipe. Since I did a much better job of cleaning the inside of the handle and applied the putty much more carefully, the next time it breaks it will be somewhere else.

Note: A small ‘pencil-sized’ piece of the putty that’s been curing at least two days is still somewhat flexible – it didn’t break until it was doubled over, and it required significant force even then; almost as much as a similar pencil of the Steel-Stik putty, which was like a rock by then.

I suspect this is a feature rather than a bug; having some give in the handle will probably help prevent it from breaking where the built-up section ends.

JB Weld products appear to perform very well in comparative tests. I’ve used the PlasticWeld to seal butt-joints in lengths of PVC rain water drainage gullies. If using it on PVC it’s essential to first clean the parts with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) in order to provide a good key for the epoxy.

Also wear nitrile (or similar) gloves to mix the product to prevent natural oils from your hands contaminating the epoxy. It seems to be doing it’s job so far. Quite expensive, but probably the best product for the job I had, and if it lasts it will be well worth the cost – time will tell.

I bought this with a bit of trepidation as I didn’t think anything could repair abs plastic and that it was just buy a new one and cough up. This stuff is #*#* amazing !! If your willing to give it a go and have a tiny bit of patience you can repair anything.

It’s strong as the original piece if you make it correctly. On YouTube there’s piles of videos on how to make stuff and I can honestly say I am amazed how well this stuff works. I bought a spares or repair Honda bike for my son and the fairing had lugs missing, cracks, even whole pieces missing.

With the help of my trusty dremel I’ve repaired it all. I had the black type which I read somewhere was the strongest although it’s available in white and clear I believe. The kit comes with a moulding bar that once heated in hot water will mould to the shape of the piece you need to make.

The solvent you have to use has a really strong smell so you definitely need to ventilate. The mixture starts to set in a few minutes dependant on the thickness of the piece and once the mixture is set give it a few hours to lose the strong chemical smell then there you have it.

Maybe a bit of tidying up by hand or with a sharp knife or dremel and its all job done. I can’t stress how impressed I am with this kit. Given the cost of a new Honda fairing I’m glad I decided to repair it and save money, for 25 you can knock up a good few parts which you just can’t buy.

Well worth it. Just remember to ventilate phew !!.

This product is amazing. I use it to mend motorcycle fairings and it works really well and is strong. The only downside is the pipette. I use my own as I have more control over very small areas.

Used for repairing plastic motorcycle body panels. Have tried many different things over the years, all with limited success. This stuff is perfect for repairing cracks and fixing broken-off pieces. Even allows you to re-construct missing lugs.

Sets quickly and repairs appear to be as strong as the original items. Very easy to use with no mixing required, so you only use what you need. A little fiddly to apply at first but easy once you get the knack.

Bought this to carry out a repair on the embellisher on a lotus headlight. It’s the typical low quality plastic that is known for easily cracking when even a small force is applied. This plastic is called PPO and research seemingly says it’s hard to find an adhesive that will work successfully.

As it turned out I used a pretty standard rapid epoxy to bond an aluminium strengthener and it worked well. This plastic bonder was excellent when it came to building up the missing sections of plastic that made a bridge over the aluminium section.

Easy to dispense and mix, this is also easy to apply. Building up a decent amount wasn’t too difficult, it can move with gravity but after a few minutes it has stabilized. It has bonded extremely well to both the plastic and also the aluminium I used.

Big bonus is this is black in colour so matches the original colour, unlike the previous owners attempts with glass fibre which were stand out red! New embellishers are 550 pounds plus vat, so this product, along with a couple of other items adding up to 30 pounds, have created a far stronger product.

I have been using the Permatex brand of adhesives, gasket makers, epoxy’s, and sealants for almost 35 years. No matter what it may be that needs a product such as theirs, I can always find the right solution to any problem.

The Black Plastic Welder was no exception. I needed to join two different types of PVC plastics to control a water flow issue in an emergency, and not only did it set fast, but it proves to be completely waterproof as well.

I won’t use anything else.

I was looking specifically for something that would bond convertible top vinyl to metal in order to complete a top replacement. This turned out to be perfect. Bonds in 5 minutes is an excellent hold.

This will be my go to epoxy for most of my future needs.

Black plastic weld works adequately. The package doesn’t seal well. The vapors are very strong in my toolbox.

You really have to rough up the surface for it to stick otherwise it just peels off. I’m sure it’s fine on the right material but it does not stick well to bumper material or to try and bond headlight tabs.

This stuff is amazing, used it to fix missing/broken tabs on a bumper cover. It dries super fast so make sure you have everything ready to go. If you have more than one repair to do try to prep so you can do all the work with using only one nozzle or you will go through them like crazy.

I just used slightly more than needed to fill the needs and sanded down to size a couple of minutes later.

First product I’ve ever used for bumper tab repair that actually works. My only complaint is the price/cost, it’s priced for shops and not for DIYers. But once you’ve made the investment in an applicator, contour sheet roll and a bunch of spare mixing nozzles, it works great.

Do plan on going through nozzles quickly, though – “Super Fast” means it sets up in ~20 seconds. Any hesitation in-between repairs and you will need to change nozzles.

JB Weld plastic bonder is incredible: fast (sets in 5 minutes, cures in an hour), easy to use and holds forever on flexible surfaces. Backed into an oddly placed pole in a parking lot some years back and broke the attachment point where metal screw mounted plastic bumper to our Nissan sedan.

$Hundreds to repair/ replace? Nope. JB Weld plastic bonder reformed the break point, over night set and screwed that baby back on the next day. Years later we sold the car and that ‘plastic weld’ was still holding just fine.

Around same time some knuckle head knocked off the cowling on my passenger side mirror on my parked MB C280, cracking the mounting ring. Ouch! Joined the broken ring with JB Weld Plastic epoxy and popped the cowling back in place next morning.

That was 6-8 years ago. Earlier this week a new klutz walked into the same repaired mirror, this time breaking off the bottom of the mounting section. Here we go again. JB Weld to rescue; ten minute repair, cowling goes back on tomorrow.

The JB Weld Plastic Bonder worked great! It produced a really strong repair for some plastic fastener extensions that had broken off of an automotive seat plastic trim piece. I roughened the plastic pieces and spread the plastic bonder generously over the repair area, then tested the strength of the repair after it cured.

I’m happy to say that I’m confident the repaired pieces will be less prone to breaking off than they were originally.

I’m amazed that so many reviewers say the product doesn’t work. I used it on plastic to plastic and wood to metal, and in both cases the bond is very strong. In the latter case, it is a skillet, and the heat did not weaken the bond.

I’ve attached a chart based on some experiments I did using some scrap plastic. One point of concern is that the nozzles that dispense the two chemicals are very close to each other. I’d be careful to make sure some chemical from one nozzle doesn’t get into the other nozzle, causing hardening.

UPDATE: Two things I’ve learned: First, an experience I had might explain why the epoxy hasn’t worked for some users. In one case, the fluid came out very fast, and I noticed it was all one shade of gray instead of the normal two shades (slightly different shades for each of the two chemicals).

I’m guessing the fluid came out quickly from one nozzle and none from the other. That would mean it wouldn’t work. (I tossed that batch away). So, always check to see if there are two shades of chemical on your palette, etc.

Secondly, for some applications it is a good idea to let the epoxy “pre-cure” for about three or four minutes before applying it, in cases where you want to avoid dripping or running. UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: A couple of things.

First, it’s important to be able to see what level each chemical is at as you push it close to the nozzle opening. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has placed the label in such a way that the view is obscured.

I found that it helps to peel that label off for a good view of the levels. Secondly, I suggest that each user experiment with different ways to push the plungers so that the two chemicals come out more or less equally instead of only one gushing out and the other not.

The plungers don’t move smoothly, so that is a challenge. For very small applications, I’ve found that using a toothpicks or similar tools to scoop out a bit of each chemical avoids the plunger issue.

Purchased this a few months back to repair the plastic working bowl for our food processor. Had some success as the repair held for about 10 uses until bowl broke again. Went to use the glue again but found that product had dried up – as other reviewers have mentioned, this is a 1-time use product.

So purchased a second glue kit but this time repaired 2 plastic items. Both items failed right away. So i tested the glue on a few other plastic items to see if perhaps it was the type of plastic that I was having the issue with.

Conclusion – this glue is no better than cheap super glue you can get at the dollar store. All marketing / no delivery. Lesson learned -I should have put the $20 I spent on this towards a new bowl instead of wasting on this product.

received product in good time. Product was still sealed in Loctite container. Very poor instructions on using activator (appeared to be nothing in it) If you inverted the activator container for 5 minutes, and then applied it, you could see a trace of something being applied.

I am not sure it was an adequate amount. I completed the repair, but I have very little confidence in the integrity of the bond.

I received the two. 85 oz. of quick setting epoxy. I mixed equal amounts of epoxy and they did not set up in several hours. They did set up nice and hard by the next day. I have been thinking about sending them back, actually I can’t use this stuff.

It is probably a good value if it did what you advertise and is of good quality if you can let it set for many hours.

I used this to fix a radiator. I hit a deer and mine was busted at the bottom below the drain. I fixed the break with JB weld Tank and Plastic repair. Then after it set up, I pulled the drain plug out and used this to fill on the crack from the inside.

Its been two weeks and its still not leaking!.

Love this stuff. I’ve used it to create parts for my vacuum cleaner, make a disc for a plaque and several other places where I needed plastic. You can work with it for quite a little while beofre it starts to harden.

When its hard, you can cut & shape it further. It takes poaint nicely. I just bout three more tubes to have on hand.

I use a lot of JB products, each one has a specific use. The plastic weld I use for reinforcing my RC boats. It works great in hard to reach areas. The plastic weld has never failed me. I have even drilled and tapped holes in it.

Our expensive large ABS-ish plastic dog carrier got broken recently when the wind caught it and blew it across the yard. Wife wanted to toss it and spend another $100+ to buy another. Thought I’d try J-B Weld Plastic Weld.

Worked like a freakin’ charm. Easy to mix. easy to apply. Works as advertised. Mongo happy. I can easily recommend this stuff.

I tried this on a plastic washing basket and on a handle. Tried 3 times and even clamped the jobs on my third attempt It stuck well to my fingers but didnt even look like sticking to anything else. I rated 1 because there is no zero.

Both exactly what I needed. Mesh was invaluable for out west where flies were dense.
