20 Best Glue For Hard Plastic (2023 Updated)

Versatile, Durable, Multi Purpose Adhesive! I use it mostly for plastics repair because it sets quickly, I can sit the part down and come back to it after it has cured. No holding for 30 minutes or clamping.

After curing, the excess adhesive sands off and I can buff out the repair to a shine. Repairs are virtually undetectable. I also left a repair soaking in dishwater for a few hours (I forgot it) and the pieces were unaffected.

Overall I give this product 5 Stars for plastic repairs. Locktite is a name I trust from years working with old cars.

I love this glue! It works on a wide range of products. I especially like it to repair fabric with it. I have used it to fix a wood doll bed, and countless Plastic toys. There have been a few times where it did not work and it just peeled off.

This is NOT the Glue’s fault, it just is not the right Glue for the job. It is like anything – you need the right tool to do the job. I love this glue, it has fixed many things around our home and they stay fixed! I can’t live without this stuff! In fact, I am getting ready to put another tube on my next order.

This product says it works on plastic so I purchased it to repair the cracks on the top corners of my litter boxes. It doesn’t work at all! As soon as I picked up the top tray with the pine litter to roll it, the two sides came apart again, the glue had absolutely no effect on it.

I only use 1 inch of pine litter so it wasn’t too heavy. I also tried this product to glue a small mirror on my jewelry cabinet but it kept falling off. I had to take it in and have it professionally done.

I’m looking for a glue that will do what it promises as I need my litter boxes! I don’t recommend this glue.

My product review clearly isn’t needed here but I’ll plough on. This is the go-to cement for almost every scalemodeller. If Mary Poppins was into our little hobby she would sy its practically perfect in every way.

The little brush is an ideal applicator and dont forget that you can extend the brush to get to the bottom of the jar when it starts to run low. Its also ideal for making home made sprue goo. Just chop up your leftover sprue and add it to the glue pot, wait for it to dissolve overnight and add more sprue as required.

Very good for attaching small parts using the minimum of cement. The brush attached to the bottle top is small but holds a surprising amount of cement. Very good for attaching rainstrip (very thin plastic strip) to the plastic roofs of model railway coaches.

A well thought out product.

Tamiya Exra Thin Cement is the plastic modeler’s go to cement for building plastic model kits. It bonds parts very fast and neatly. I’ve used this for many years. Highly recommended by modelers in my International Plastic Modelers Society Club.

I have been using the Permatex brand of adhesives, gasket makers, epoxy’s, and sealants for almost 35 years. No matter what it may be that needs a product such as theirs, I can always find the right solution to any problem.

The Black Plastic Welder was no exception. I needed to join two different types of PVC plastics to control a water flow issue in an emergency, and not only did it set fast, but it proves to be completely waterproof as well.

I won’t use anything else.

I was looking specifically for something that would bond convertible top vinyl to metal in order to complete a top replacement. This turned out to be perfect. Bonds in 5 minutes is an excellent hold.

This will be my go to epoxy for most of my future needs.

Black plastic weld works adequately. The package doesn’t seal well. The vapors are very strong in my toolbox.

Bought this instead of permatex because ace hdwre did not carry permatex version. Big mistake for starters after 2 part mix it is still very fluid to start, never really thickens and hard to fill cracks as it just flows through crack does not stay on surface.

Ive repaired tons of plastic items and filling a crack with the epoxy is the goal so the break bonds together with the material. After 24hrs the bond material is still STICKY to touch hence not dry! Have a hard time believing this withstands 3900psi if it wont even dry! As far as a two part epoxy go with PERMATEX its thick out of container, FILLS the cracks bonding it and drys SOLID in less than an hour.

JB weld needs to go back to the drawing board on this one!.

I had a severe crack in my windshield washer fluid reservoir in my car. Replacements were way too expensive or not available in my area I can’t remember. Regardless, I decided to repair it instead using this JB weld plastic epoxy.

I made sure to clean the area really well and rough it up. I also deeply scoured the area for extra adhesion. After mixing well, applying and letting cure I tested the reservoir before putting it back into the car.

It slightly leaked. I applied more epoxy (I had plenty left) to the slightly leaky area. After letting that cure to rock hardness I tested for leaks again and it was flawless. This was sightly over two years ago.

I take notes on all my car repairs. 12/06/2018 and 122,300 miles. My reservoir has held up flawlessly ever since! Over 2 years and 20,000 miles. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if it lasts the rest of the life of the vehicle.

Love this stuff! Next stop: JB Weld High Heat for my exhaust. I hope I’m just as lucky. Highly recommend JB Weld Plastic Epoxy Stick!.

It’s not nearly as hard as the SteelStik (the dark gray putty made by JB Weld), but it’s really, really sticky. I needed to repair the handle on a steam mop, and when I got the pieces apart I saw it was ABS (thanks to the >ABS< mark on it - Sherlock Holmes I'm not), so I glued the edges with the black ABS pipe cement I had.

It was probably almost as strong as it was before, but that wasn’t very strong, so I got some of the putty and built up the inside of the handle around the break. I also did some experiments where I put bits of putty on the (slick) inside of a piece of ABS pipe I had in the garage (which I wiped off with my finger), and this stuff really sticks.

I managed to pull it off later, but only because the putty wasn’t fully cured and it broke, leaving part of the putty stuck on the inside of the pipe. Since I did a much better job of cleaning the inside of the handle and applied the putty much more carefully, the next time it breaks it will be somewhere else.

Note: A small ‘pencil-sized’ piece of the putty that’s been curing at least two days is still somewhat flexible – it didn’t break until it was doubled over, and it required significant force even then; almost as much as a similar pencil of the Steel-Stik putty, which was like a rock by then.

I suspect this is a feature rather than a bug; having some give in the handle will probably help prevent it from breaking where the built-up section ends.

This epoxy is absolutely awesome. My grandson has many hard plastic toys that get broken often. This epoxy has worked without failure. He has one toy gun in particular that he has broken three different times.

The plastic joints fixed by this epoxy have never failed. The latest item fixed by this epoxy was a driver side rear view mirror on my neighbors car that had been severely broken in many places. This was a real test of this epoxy because of the amount of weight on the repaired joints and the fact that the car was being driven daily to and from work.

After five days, it is still holding until the insurance authorizes the repairs. This is absolutely the best plastic adhesive that I have every used.

This product does exactly as described and is easy to install. Hands are attractive and stand out. Good value for money.

I got a foam headliner from a junkyard out of a vehicle that was rolled. Needless to say that the headliner had several breaks in it but it was the only one I could find after 3 separate trips to the junkyard looking for one, and it was in better condition than the one that my truck was missing.

I used this epoxy to hold the headliner back together and it worked flawlessly.

It takes very long to even start being sticky. Count at least 2-3 hours so you need to hold the two parts together somehow. I suggest applying the glue on both parts, wait 2-3 hours until it becomes sticky, then put the two parts together.

Good points : it doesn’t smell. On the bottle it says it will stain your skin and also will increase in volume 2-3 times as it dries up. Bottle also suggests humidifying the surfaces, water activates this glue.

Wipe off the tip of the bottle before putting the cap back, otherwise glue will harden inside the cap and next time you won’t be able to fit back the cap and the bottle will harden inside. Strength rating : 6/10 where 10/10 is for cyanoacrylate glue.

So be prepared… once set this stuff has an incredible bond. I used it on my kitchen chairs. The spindles on the chairs were loose and I used just a small amount in the crevice because this stuff expands.

I have to say they are still holding and not spinning. I also used it to fix the corner of my home which is a cement material. The corner cracked and fell off and I’m grateful I saved the piece. I sprayed it with water and applied the glue and that too is still in place.

This glue is waterproof and can be used on many surfaces. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I used this glue one time. It did do the job, but. Once dried, the glue tripled in size. The small line of glue was no more. A yellow thick glass like coat covered my surface. Then after about three weeks.

After storing the glue properly. I went to use it again. And. It was hard as a brick!!! Could no longer use it!! So if you want to use this glue ONE time this is for you!!.

Do not purchase – buy anything else. You well get better bonding from elmers glue, or even an elementary school gluestick. The strength of the adhesive is laughable, and on the bottle it says cure in 10-45 seconds which is totally inaccurate.

At best it STARTS to cure in 10-45 minutes, but will still be gummy and without structure for two or more hours. I bought it thinking it would be of similar quality to regular gorilla glue used in woodworking – but their superglue must have been designed by someone’s toddler.

So, Gorilla Glue. I knew this would be strong as the name carries weight. What I didnt know, however, was quite how strong it was. I originally bought this to fix my shoes, the sole had come away from one of them.

Little did I realise that later on, hilarity would ensue. Left out in the open, my housemates took it upon themselves to dispose of an old pan by gluing it to a door. We knew itd hold well but this pan DOES NOT BUDGE.

It is fixed there, like a singular point in time. Unmoving. Eternal. Gorilla Glue is fantastic. Everyone should buy some just to have it around.

My rice cooker for 10 years had one very important plastic piece break off to help keep the lid closed. I was devastated. I applied this onto the piece unsure if it will work with all the heat and moisture.

I let it sit for 8 hours undisturbed (planning for 24 hours) and my husband accidentally used the rice cooker. It held up fine! So far so good. I’ve cooked rice several times now.

I love the design of the bottle. The cap was easy to open and you don’t have to puncture a hole to squeeze the glue out. Every time I open the glue thinking it will be hard, it never is. I would say it is always ready to use.

The bottle has these squeezable sides that makes it so easy to squeeze the glue out. The small opening of the top allows for precision gluing. I needed to glue together my pen that had that a big diamond crystal on top.

After letting the glue dry for about a minute, the pen was more secure than when I first purchased it. I will definitely be recommending this product to my family and friends. Loctite is the only super glue I’ll be using.

We used a product from weldwood very similar in my early years at my Fathers Lumber company where we Manufactured laminated glued raters from strips Of wood we ripped into strips then glued both sides and bent in curved forms The shape of rafters.

The glue we mixed with water and it came to us in powder Form in paper drums. like barrels. We would tighten wood block clamps with Electric wrenches to squeeze the pieces tight and leave overnight then run through Thickness planner to remove dried glue on edges then space on center forms and Hand nail masonite for an exterior skin.

We would dip the masonite on buried tanks To treat with pentachlor wood treatment so it would hold our spray paint. We had two guys that did nothing except spread this glue all day, 6 days a week. We had so much built up on the concrete, that we had to use ice choppers to remove.

I still can Smell that glue in my mind. The buildings were under the name (Mastercraft) farm buildings by Hemp mtg. Built by Hess Lumber Company of Pine Island, Minnesota and sold , Delivered, assembled all over the upper Midwest.

Usually called quanset type buildings. I am Mr, Hes son. Wm. We had maybe 50 plus people involved in these Buildings. Life expectancy was 10 yrs, some still standing 70 yrs later. The buildup of glue on those guys shoes would cause replacement every month As they became glue bricks.

I’ve been using Weldwood Plastic Resin Glue for more than 50 years, ever since my dad taught me woodworking by building a cherry bedroom suite for me as a kid. It requires careful measuring and mixing, and work must remain tightly clamped for at least 24 hours.

(I generally leave my work clamped for 72 hours,) so it’s not for casual jobs where you might just pull out a bottle of hide wood glue, but done according to the instructions, the glued joint IS stronger than the wood around it, and it will last forever.

I’ve used it both for original construction, and most recently, needed to repair a store-bought cutting board that had come unglued. Since Weldwood is waterproof after it has set up, that cutting board won’t be coming apart at that joint again, even though it goes in the dishwasher after each use.

For long term storage, the Weldwood glue powder will absorb moisture, even though the container seems tightly sealed, rendering the glue unusable. It’s easy to tell when mixing, because the powder and water should turn into a creamy liquid with the consistency of light molasses.

If the powder doesn’t dissolve in the water, then it’s absorbed moisture in storage and is no longer any good. To avoid that problem, I place the closed container of Weldwood Plastic Resin Glue inside a Food-Saver bag and shrink wrap it, so it draws all of the air out of the bag (and out of the glue container).

When the Food-Saver seals the bag, no air or moisture can get in to contaminate the glue powder and it will be ready when I open it to use next time. This is not the product to use for those “quick and dirty” projects, and it’s not going to provide strong joints unless they are tightly clamped, as it relies on clamping for the resin to penetrate the wood fibers on either side of the joints.

So, given that it has a focused scope of use, I’ve found no better wood glue on the market for those jobs where you are going to put in the time and effort do do things right and expect them to last forever.

This came up as an extremely good glue in Wood by Wright’s test of 64 different products. Good for long graIn to long grain, long grain to end grain, outdoor, gap filling and with strength more than the wood.

See his December 2019 you tube video “All About Woodworking Glue What is the best glue live” and accompanying spreadsheet. It came out best for exterior use even though the manufacturers recommend it for indoor use.

I used it with clamps to fix a longitudinal split in a board after resawing. It worked perfectly.

Compared to citadel glue, this stuff is pretty much just as good. Easy to apply and detail with a knife, doesn’t melt the plastic, and a decent price as well. Models I assembled with it look pretty darn good.

Excellent product, and it came in the mail very promptly in storefront-salable condition. I am impressed.

Short and to the point: this does what it says on the label. I really enjoy the full line of Army Painter products and am very hesitant to try others, but see no reason to as this particular glue does the job.

The glue itself seems good, but it’d be nice if the applicator allowed more precise control. Have only used once, so can’t say if it will get clogged up or not.

First time I have used this product, I have found that it does and excellent job and it gives you an extra second or two to make sure everything is perfectly lined up. I only bought this because I couldn’t get tamiya extra thin, so far I am very pleased with it.

It definitely does what it says on the box. I would definitely recommend it.

Dries too quickly and you have to keep applying to get a good join. It struggles to cope with fine detail and I ended up using Humbrol adhesive to secure a broken wheel strut to a model of a harrier jet.

It is good for securing the pivot pin on oo gauge track points as it welded together the pin to the fulcrum lever. Overall it is expensive for what it is and I wouldn’t buy it again.

If you are a modeller and want a fantastic liquid cement, this stuff is great. I tried it a couple of years ago and it is now one of my two preferred liquid cements, the other being Tamiya extra thin.

This stuff is so good, though, that the Tamiya may be on its way out! Try it and if you don’t like it, you’re only out a fiver or so.

I USED THE PRODUCT TO FIX A LOOSE FENDER,I LEFT IT 24 HOURS TAPED WITH DUCT TAPE,AND THE NEXT DAY REMOVED THE TAPE. IT’S BEEN ABOUT A MONTH AND IT’S HOLDING PERFECTLY. I’M REALLY AMAZED AND HAPPY WITH THE RESULT.

I use this and the Ultra Control Gel both to help extend the life of my expensive Brooks Beast sneakers needed to protect my feet on a concrete surface at work. The gel I use where more flexibility of the repair and control of application is needed, and the liquid to get into cracks.

They have been outstanding in performance, very easy to apply, and the tubes haven’t dried out. I’ve used the gel to fix two of my fellow workers’ eyeglass frames, and to fix a cracked gas plastic lawnmower cover to excellent effect.

The lawnmower went through the entire last year mowing season and held, even though there was very little surface area to stick the two sides back together, and that under significant strain. The working time was ideal to get everything applied, and the set time ideal so I could let go holding of the two plastic sides together after a few minutes when my hands started to severely cramp.

Amazingly it held. So I’ve been a big fan of Loctite Ultra Control Super Glues since. The liquid I’ve started using recently where a liguid vs a gel gets into more inaccessible areas.

Ugh. I ordered “gel ” Super Glue so that it didn’t run madly out of the tube. Why oh why, oh why did you substitute liquid which immediately runs all over creation the minute you open the tube. You could have ordered gel in a different size or different brand.

At least then I wouldn’t have to deal with the impossible flood of super glue. ou how dumb.

I can no longer think of glue without thinking of Elwood Blues. But seriously, this glue is the best on the market. There never seems to be enough of it in a bottle but if there were more it would solidify before you could use it.

Pro Tips: (1) Don’t stock too much of it because it might solidify before you can use it. (2) Leave it in the packaging until your other bottles have run out. (3) Don’t twist the top until you’re ready to start using it.

I followed directions, but still messed up putting a broken cherub head back on after it tumbled during a recent move. Okay, so I added more glue to get it to finally stick, and set the head for the night, but by morning it was a messy mess.

The head is attached, but now the cherub needs a flower necklace to cover it up! My hairbrush fell to the floor just perfectly and broke, so I tried Gorilla Glue again with high hopes, but nope. Had to toss it out and buy a new brush.

I might try again, but not impressed. *** I’m sorry, but for some unknown reason I cannot download a picture here to this site from my phone and/or laptop.

This doesn’t hold up at all compared to the spray that lady used in her hair. She had me sold. So I thought since it literally kept her hair I. Place two months I’ll go with something a little less drastic.

So I bought the quick adhesive glue. This adhesive bubbles up to make pastie type bubbles on anything you are glueing, it almost looks like dried cellophane. Then a few days later the hold decreases and the project falls.

I definite don’t recommend it. It’s as strong as plastic tape. I’ll try the spray kind next time. If that real as strong as that lady proclaimed. #.

With summertime and grandchildren, what could be a more useful product than Gorilla Glue? My granddaughters love to do crafts and create amazing works of art. Using Gorilla Glue is an important part of that.

It is easy for children to handle, and creates a strong bond. My house is decorated with my granddaughters’ creations, thanks to their awesome talent with help from Gorilla Glue.

Had a piece of hard plastic toy lying around for ages that has had several attempt with superglue fail. So pleased it is finally fixed! Easy to use. Even for impatiently forgot to wait three minutes on one piece it still holding together well.

This glue was good, but it does tend to pour out a little when you’ve finished between uses. And leaves a bit if a string as you pull away. But I’m confident it’s stuck well! So it was good for exactly what I needed it for!.

I found that the glue was very runny, and hard to control. The nozzle has a large hole so when used to glue it seems impossible to apply small dots of glue in a situation like glueing a model together.
