The AlphaTrak2 is an easy to use Blood Glucose meter. If your pet is diabetic a glucose meter for the home is essential to help keep them healthy. High or low blood sugar can take your pets life. High blood sugar kills more slowly than low blood sugar.

Low sugar can cause your pet to have seizures or it can kill in minutes. Testing is quick and easy to do. I have a diabetic cat and a dog with pancreatic cancer. By monitoring her blood sugar and adjusting her medication our dog has lived over a year longer than the Vet predicted.

We wanted to get the exact item for our alphatrak2, we had tried Freestyle, but due to level of diabetes in our senior car we wanted to be sure the meter was working properly. The amount of blood required is very very small and the reading is super fast.

more expensive than the freestyle, also made by Abbott, but didn’t want to experiment on my gray buddy in a critical case.

I have a pit bull that was diagnosed with canine diabetes almost 2 years ago. My vet suggested that I get a AlphaTrak2 meter kit so I could test at home. I’ve tried other brands of both canine and human meters and this one is the best by far.

My only complaint is the high cost of the test strips since I test at least twice a day sometimes more plus monthly curves a use between 2 and 3 bottles of strips per month.

This product is a great value for money as well as being the most consistent. No it does not come with a lancing device, so what ? its $9 really ?. I have compared it to FreeStyle lite and Bayer contour.

Of 10 consequetive tests on the same blood sample, it scores a Standard deviation of 4. 6 (closer to zero the better) Compare to Freestyle 12. 9 and Bayer Contour of 7. 9. I also like the large display and unto 90 day average.

I am putting the others to bed and sticking to this guy exclusively, Freestyle strips are $1,7 a pop, Contour is $0. 32 and GE100 is $0. 16,!QED.

The meter is giving readings all over the place. Tested at 121. Which I thought was high considering an hour ago I was 118. So re-tested immediately and got a 76 reading which was way different and way low.

So re-tested one more time and got a reading of 98. So which one is correct? My contour ez test strip said 89. I don’t want to test 3 times to get an accurate reading.

This product works poorly. I bought 300 test strips and the meter, to save money. What a mistake. The strips dont work most of the time. Sometimes it takes 6 strips, with 6 lancet shots (bloodbath), to get a strip that will produce a result.

Sometimes it takes 2 strips, if I am lucky. Id say on average, I have to use 3-4 strips to get a single reading. I have used 3 other products before, that were more expensive, and they worked all the time – no lost strips.

Stay away from this GE100 product. The price you pay per reading ends up much higher that other products, plus the massacre on your fingers – no good.

I bought this to replace the same model I have been using for years, and first supplied by my GP. Abbots are recognised as the leading authority in diabetes care, and the Freedom Freestyle Lite is exceptional quality, and is well worth paying a little more than chancing an unknown make to save perhaps 20.

00. my old unit must be at least 15 years old, and has only just started to be a little unreliable, so choosing the same unit again was a done deal for me.

I received my FreeStyle Lite device today. Should have gone by other bad reviews. 1. Lancet would not puncture skin to get reading. 2. When I got reading it was lower then I’d ever gotten before on ANY device.

I tried the FreeStyle device to save some $$. Yes it’s cheaper but overall it’s a POS!.

The first thing is that the Product was defective right out of the box with an Er 4 message and no way to reset/reboot. The item is also $2 more in store with no price-matching or ship to store option.

A medical device that doesn’t work when brand new makes me question the product’s reliability. The company was great about sending a new one but waiting two days to test seems a bit off.

For the last 3 years, I’ve been using the True Metrix meter from McKesson to check my blood glucose so, I know the readings from this meter are accurate. Decided to get the Glucocard Expression meter from Arkray because the test strips are more affordable.

Over a period of three days, I checked my blood glucose using both meters. On one day the readings were identical. On the other two days, the readings were within 1 mg/dL. The Glucocard Expression meter provides accurate readings and is more affordable to use.

It broke after ten readings. I bought it since the test strips were comparatively cheap. You get what you pay for.

I was attracted to this monitor as it is so compact. I live in the UK but ordered it from Germany as it was much cheaper. It arrived promptly but the monitor has proved rather disappointing, Firstly, it measures in mg/dL rather than the British system of mmol/L so I had to find a conversion chart – I got one on-line, but it means I have to carry a bit of paper around with me.

The date and time symbols on the display screen are tiny; the batteries are really difficult to remove and it’s almost impossible to get a working blood sample even on the deepest setting. – I have to resort to using the lancet without the cover.

All in all, I wish I hadn’t bought this monitor. A real shame. Dear Marmoset, We are publishing your review even though you didn’t buy this product from us here in the UK, but rather from a company in Germany.

Had you purchased from us you would find that we supply the mmol/L version rather than the German mg/dL – maybe they were selling them off as line ends hence the cheap price. Either way I am sorry that your experience of this Beurer product was less than satisfactory – they are a fabulous brand and quality is a real cornerstone.

I found this monitor performs as expected, it is small and easy to use. I need to use the pricker on maximum and it could be slightly more powerful. The monitor can easily be set to give readings in either mmol/L or mg/dL this information is available within the English manual (available online if necessary).

Like one of the other reviewers I am unable to test its accuracy but this is true of any blood glucose monitor.

The main reason for the purchase was the small compact size and automatic logging of results via the software. This turned out however to be a bit of getting used to. Still don’t know how to make a back up.

Measurements are OK, inaccuracies have not yet been determined – except for the expected 10%. Consumables with this are inexpensive and it is a very smart little monitor. I would recommend it.

I was given one of these by my surgery about 10 years or so ago; it suddenly went berserk recently. So I bought a replacement, it being difficult to get such things out of the NHS now. I have had excellent service form the old one, and expect to from the new one.

It isn’t too big, the strips are cheap so the NHS will provide them, the meter is well made and, basically, I can’t fault it. Only criticism is the silly carrying case: the sticky pad, supposed to hold it in the case.

It not only gets filthy, but it soon loses its ability to stick, and then becomes a nuisance. Best to leave the clear plastic on and don’t use it, or else remove it (with some difficulty). I would recommend it with no reservations.

Easy to use and accurate. Replacement for my old one. No difference in accuracy. Just wanted a new Lancing Device because the old one was failing. New carry case not quite as good as the old one (which had a larger elastic for the test strip tub, an elastic holder for the lancing device and a clear grip for the meter – so it can be read without removal), but that’s just the case.

Good reliable product. Have used this brand for a long time so glad could buy a new one. The battery life will be good as was my old product. Easy to turn on and takes seconds to get a reading. You can save readings which is handy for feeding back to your gp or nurse.

Comes with handy pouch and few test strips and needles.
