20 Best Gifts For Scotch Drinkers (2023 Updated)

This is a nice gift for a whisky aficionado, or indeed anyone who hates their drink being diluted by ice. The stones are a good idea, are nice and smooth, without any danger of any particles coming off in your drink.

There’s even a little holder to store them in the fridge (they are a tiny bit porous, so I’d recommend putting them in a sealed food bag to prevent them from absorbing odours). They’re simple to use – wash and place in the holder and leave them in the fridge til you need them.

They come in a decent enough presentation case, but the edges were a little damaged due to the outer packaging, and that’s not the manufacturer’s fault, but that of Amazon (and its couriers, as the box was damaged on arrival).

The glass sits to one side of the box, in a ‘bed’ and the stones and holder are on the other side (left of the second attached image). However, the whole box is shrink-wrapped in a cheap, ripped plastic (I’ve had 2 varieties of product from this manufacturer) that’s not only flimsy and with holes, but looks cheap and nasty.

And, I’d have expected the glass to have been polished prior to placing it in the presentation box – it was dull. However, once I washed and buffed the glass, it looked decent. But, it doesn’t have that ‘ping’ that I associate with high quality crystal.

I think it’s a little expensive for what it is, but it’s a nice enough present. In each of the boxes I received, there was a little coaster proclaiming that I am a lucky winner and can claim one more of the same product – that actually feels tacky and cheapens the set.

This is one of those wonderfully presented products that you’ll most probably purchase as a special gift for someone, but want to keep for yourself. Within the elegant black box there is a very attractively designed chunky crystal whisky glass, six real granite stones, anda wooden tray on which you can store and display your stones.

Also included is a small pack of cards which explain how to use the cooling stones – these cards are tastefully strung together and sandwiched between two wooden plates. Incidentally, I was amazed at how cool the granite stones already were when I took them out of their box.

To get their full benefit pop them into a sealed plastic bag, and place in the freezer for a few hours. When added to your glass of whisky they will keep your drink nicely chilled for up to two hours.

I’m particularly impressed by the exquisite quality of the reassuringly heavy whisky glass (designed and made in the Bohemia region of the Czech Republic). I also like that this brand uses hand-made genuine granite chilling stones, as opposed to those company’s who supply the less attractive (and cheaper) soapstone or basalt rock ones.

I really can’t fault this product, and given that it is so gorgeously presented, I have no hesitation in recommending it to discerning Amazon customers. By the way, many thanks for checking out my review, I hope you have found it of use.

Beautifully presented in a sturdy gift box with foam padding surrounding the glass. The glass is full sized with a niece weight and attractive cut glass pattern moving upwards from the bottom about an in up the sides.

The whisky stones are an excellent weight and fantastic quality, they will need a quick rinse before using to remove the slight powdery coating. There’s a lovely wooden stand with carved out recesses for the stones to sit in, I find this puzzling because whisky stones should be kept in a freezer ready for use so a bag would have been a great addition either instead of the wooden stand or as well as.

I don’t think wood would fair well over time in a freezer. The stones are above average and are better than the stones I already use, they’re fairly heavy and said to be made from granite. They do look and feel like granite too, a couple have a slight sparkle in the granite they’re beautiful stones to use.

Whisky stones can be used to cool any drink without diluting as ice would however over time the stones do pick up the flavour of drinks so either rinse properly or use separate stones for each drink type.

Example keep lighter ones from gin, darker for whisky and mid for white wine. I personally have different stone sets for different drinks. A fair price for an above average whisky glass and stones set.

These glasses are beautiful however they are extremely delicate and break easily. I ordered a large number and the very first dish washer run 4 broke during the cycle. I replaced them however since I have broken three more.

I will not be getting them again.

Looking for an alternative to the traditional whisk(e)y nosing glass, I discovered the Villeroy & Boch Islands Whiskey tumblers. They have a lovely ‘feel’ in the hand compared to the copita or similar nosing glass.

While the Glencairn glass is sturdier, I now prefer to use the Islands Whiskey tumblers when sampling new whiskeys. Other reviewers have claimed the Villeroy & Boch tumblers are at their best when sampling richly flavored older and unpeated whiskies, and, as I prefer my peat in a fireplace and not in my whiskies, I concur.

Because of their larger volumes, these tumblers take a few minutes to build the aromas, but the wait will be worthwhile as they maintain a ‘strong nose’ over a longer period of time than similar nosing glassware.

These tumblers are a perfect choice for sampling those “special occasion” malts and for serving friends who enjoy nosing their whiskeys.

The husband constantly talks about how much he loves these glasses, and he’s kind of a snob about glassware. I just hope the bourbon bill doesn’t go up because of them. Twelve stars. He’s happy. I’m a hero–for shopping.

Bought as a farewell gift to long standing staff member. Arrived extremely well packaged but obviously with glass did check for breakages. Cant fault quality of glassware or the style. Wooden coasters however were poor and felt very flimsy, discovered that a couple were cracked.

JL provided excellent customer care and exchanged immediately. Second set of coasters much better so maybe just unlucky with first batch?. Recipient delighted with gift, and excuse to fill with a quality malt.

A beautiful set that I bought as a Christmas gift for my husband. The blown glass is beautiful and a contemporary piece that fits perfectly in our front room. You can tell it’s a quality piece by the sheer weight of the glasses, the walnut resting trays are the perfect finish.

My husband loved his Christmas present. It’s taken pride of place and looks absolutely stunning. The glasses and decanter are heavy in weight which adds to its lovely feel when holding them. One of the coasters did break but was quickly replaced.

He loved it. I try to give gifts that fit with my values, so I like to give experiences or food/beverages so we accumulate less stuff. This gift was both of those things. It was so much fun learning to make whiskey together, and we can reuse the materials, and it came minimally packaged.

Purchased for a friend for her birthday to enjoy some whiskey gingers. Previously purchased the Gin Kit for my husband who had fun with it. I didn’t see inside this particular box but based off of the past one the directions to use are a little vague and it is pretty pricey considering you still need to buy the vodka to complete the kit.

We recently purchased the Sagrada whiskey decanter. We have been collecting the Sagrada glasses for many years now. This is an exquisite addition to our collection. Our glasses are on open display in our “wine room”.

Even our long time friends know they are special to us because we serve them in these glasses. New friends to our home are overwhelmed with their beauty. What better way for us to show how special each guest is than to serve them in such fine and unique glasses.

To us it’s all about showing people we care enough about to invite them into home, how much we care about them. The whiskey decanter will be such a balanced addition. It will finish the evening with the same ambiance as the others started.

The whiskey decanter and matching glasses are a perfect size for enjoying fine products of the distiller’s art. The decanter proportions are perfect, and – dare I say – cute. I recently hosted an evening with a neighborhood music club, and put the whole set to good use.

All were favorable impressed, and I do believe one of my guests intends to purchase a set for himself.

The decanter and 2 glasses were a birthday gift for my bourbon loving son in law. He is rarely at a loss for words, but he was truly speechless when He opened the boxes. Bought this for hubby for father’s day, he loved it! This is a tasting glass so beware, if you enjoy whiskey with ice because of the taste of it then you will get little use. If you’re a neat drinker these will be your best friend! I’m assuming judging by the name though it’s really suited for whiskey tasting, it’s amazing how incredible and different whiskey tastes in these glasses and it removes that burn! Highly recommend it for the whiskey lovers!.

I received this set as a gift and have sampled whisky both cold and at room temperature. I’ve used 2 small cubes of ice. I’ve used an eye dropper to “open up” the palate of the whisky. I have only had whisky over ice a few times and have found cold to be the enemy of flavor.

This glass is great at room temperature for the nose and as well for the palate and it has reinforced my love of scotch.

If you buy into this garbage, I’ll seel ya bridge you will LOVE. Don’t get mw wrong, this is a very nice take on the classic Tulip design. And, the chilling base is different if you need that. But this glass does NOTHING for the spirit, beyond the character of the basic tulip shape.

I kind of like this glass, except for the logo. I don’t do any logo-ware in my establishment. Don’t be duped by marketing and flat out lies. It’s a nice enough looking glass. If you like it, buy it because you like it.

And not because it’s “designed for the subtleties of the spirit. That’s total malarkey.

Let’s be completely honest. This thing is amazing. Awesome. Works great. Used everytime I’m having a bourbon. I have 2 for myself and giving two away to my best friend so that he can enjoy also. I tell literally everyone who’s seen my posts on social media and asks (I’m a guy not an influencer so the above statement is limited to the number of people it affects) what it is and where to get them.

I bought him one last year but saved the box. This Christmas I wrapped another gift in the old box. As soon as he saw it he said, “Great! I needed another one of these. ” So of course I ran out and bought another.

They are so convenient. And no need to fool with ice cube trays that may or may not be full. I highly recommend this product for ease of use.

These are nice. I purchased two of them for my son’s birthday. The silicone insert fits nicely and tightly inside the glass with no room for error. In fact, after my son placed two one of them in the freezer, one was accidentally knocked over, yet did not spill, which is nice.

The inserts are also easily removable. Once frozen, the ice looks exactly as it does in the picture. So – after you add your alcohol, you get a perfectly slanted drink. Really cool! They’re quite masculine looking, which is nice.

The only thing I didn’t like about them is that because the glasses themselves are frozen (with the ice inside of them), they get cold – – really cold. Like, you can’t to hold them in your hand for too long.

I hadn’t thought about that before purchasing them. They’re much colder than a glass with a simple ice cube added to it. This is definitely a negative, but the cool factor of these glasses makes them worth it for my son.

A great tasting whisky to take your time over to savour and enjoy. Being limited in supply due to it being made from an atypical malted barley, probably never to be made again, you must share the enjoyment of this whisky with good food and good company, or perhaps on your own in your special place.

Haven’t tried Fettercairn for some time but I remember it as smooth

That Talisker 8 years old is full with rich maritime aromas, salty and peaty, yet has the sweetness I love in Talisker

Gorgeous box and bottle but of course its the contents that counts! Husband who is not an expert but no pleb when it comes to whiskey and other spirits is enjoying it next to a snoozing me on a lazy Boxing day afternoon.

watching the cads drink and read their paper in their London club while Fred Astaire taps away is ‘Top Hat’. Perfect! He is enjoying the warmth and smoky comforting taste. Spicy overtone and golden colour.

I had a taste. Flipping heck I’m awake now! Sparks in my mouth like a firecracker leaving smoke and brown sugar notes. Mmmmmm really enjoyable.

I am fortunate. I am not restricted by price when I make purchases, and, as such, I have tasted or purchased Scotch whiskies costing many times the price of Talisker 10, but none have surpassed it unless it may have been the Talisker 8 that it replaced.

This is MY whisky; there is no other at any price, and best of all, it leaves no oil slick in my mouth unlike many higher-priced single malts.

If you are a fan of Peat in your Whisky then look no further. This is such an insatiable drop and gets better the more you sip. I’d recommend trying this neat first, then a couple of drops of water(dilute the smoke)and even over ice.

A must try. Again if smoke isn’t your thing do not consider this.

This certainly is different but here goes. The nose is ever so sweet ,sharp citrus almost takes your breath away. The whiskey is thick and lush on the pallet. There are glennfiddich signature notes here combined with a maltiness ,I’m convinced I can taste hops there’s a bitter sweet aspect to it.

It can feel a bit furry walnuts comes to mind ,it ends with a sweet peppery burn on the tip of your tongue. The finish is long this thing has some age to it and certainly is a chest warmer. The addition of water opens the sweet aspect to this whiskey and shuts down the pepper.

The joy it brings is that it lingers. It is different it ,there are some complexities to it , whisky nuts will be entertained by it.

This 18 year is quite good. The nose is caramel, muted spice, and a slight dried fruit coming through. The palette brings home the spice, a little dark chocolate, and semi sweet fruit. The finish is long lasting with a very subtle burn.

It stays with you a while which is a good thing. Total Wine charges $109 at the time of my purchase. Is it worth it? Meh, it would be in the $75-$90 range. So a bit overpriced in my opinion but still, I would definitely buy it again.

Wow what can I say about this? Imagine a night in, sitting down beside the fire it’s freezing cold outside. It’s also a global pandemic. You had a long rough work week over zoom. You finally get a moment to yourself, and put on your favorite playlist which includes the greats like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra etc.

You have the perfect drink in your hand. You bet that drink is the greatest thing that’s happened to you in 2020.

Fantastic quality product – fun to taste together either remotely or in the same room. We had the tour of Scotland tasting packs – the tasing notes were interesting and comprehensive and the Whiskies included the delicious and mysteriously provenanced “Aerolite Lyndsey” which our friend solved as an anagram for “10 year old Islay”, although no hint as to its origins are given.

An interesting, informative and lovely birthday evening was enjoyed by all!.

I was selected to be a part of the glenfiddich digital cash back challenge. After going out and purchasing this product, I was told they ran out of redemptions, so now I’m out $40 and stuck with a bottle I would never have purchased myself.

Since I have it and I am actually a whiskey enthusiast, I figured I might as well review it. Knocking one star off due to poorly executed campaign. To set the stage here, I got into whiskey about a year ago and have accumulated about 20 bottles ranging in price from $20-100.

The styles range from straight corn whiskey (shameless mellow 🌽 plug!) to spicy barrel proof rye. Now on to the review. Color: this scotch pours a golden straw color, but don’t be fooled. Due to the additive regulations for scotch, this partially comes from added caramel coloring rather than from the oak barrel.

Nose: smells like straight apple juice. Seriously, it’s bizarre. This actually isn’t bad though. Fruit forward and kind of mellow. No ethanol, but that seems pretty on par with this only being 80 proof.

Palate: the first impression I got after a sip of this was, man this tastes watered down. Same apple character as the nose, but really thinned out. Similar to when you get to the bottom of a drink after all the ice has melted.

Nothing really jumps out at you flavor wise, except a little bit of creaminess. Probably from the sherry cask. Kind of like that bottom shelf Sheffield sherry. It’s not really bad tasting, but it’s weak and anemic.

Overall: this might be good to keep around for that friend that doesn’t drink. Mix this in with a coke and it’s like it’s not even there. Not really flavorful enough to stand on its own, and for the price you can do better.

For this price point I think Monkey Shoulder is an absolute steal. It’s not a single malt, but it’s rich and delicious. Good for drinking on its own or as a mixer. Redbreast 12, is not a scotch, but is also a great option for slightly more money.

Eagle rare or buffalo trace, while getting harder to find, are super steals if you find them at MSRP. Knob creek, mellow corn, maker’s mark, bulleit, michter. I could go on. The takeaway is that you’re better off spending your money elsewhere.

The Speyside Distillery puts out wonderful Whiskey and Scotch and many say that the 14 year old is the best. I believe, however, that this lovely juvenile Single Malt that is matured in Sherry Casks made of American and European Oak Barrels, then mellowed in Oak marrying Tuns so it will have a sweet and subtle flavor should be counted among the older ones as being just as wonderful.

As for me, I think it has a lovely mouth feel, a bit buttery. The Whiskey seems to be a bit more floral than American Whiskeys and a bit more complex. Almost like a Whiskey/Wine smash-up. I can taste Apples and Pears and a bit of light Milk Caramel.

Quite delightful really. I enjoy Glenfiditch. Honestly I would not have bought this without this Campaign and I’m glad I did. This is really quite good and gets a really big recommendation from me. I mY treat myself to this Whiskey in future more often.

I would think for a certain generation of drinkers, Glenfiddich would have been the entryway to the world of single malt scotch. They pioneered the appellation here in the US back in 1964, and it is still a great introduction to the world of single malts.

Rather mild mellow with apples and other hard fruits on the nose, clean and a moderate complexity on the palate with a refreshing finish. Having an absolute fetish here at the house for Rusty Nails and Rob Roys, we had been keeping a bottle of Monkey Shoulder (the blended malt for people that do not like scotch) for cocktail makings, but having picked up a new bottle of Glenfiddich 12 at a bargain price, actually worth of few more dollars over the Monkey Shoulder for use in cocktails.

The absolutely classic bottle doesn’t look bad on the shelf either. A solid dram on its own, if you’re looking for something not quite as polarizing as an Islay smoke and iodine single malt for the cabinet.

As Bob suggests, the first reviewer either somehow got a bad bottle or is on something. Talisker 18 is a must for a serious Scotch Whisky collection, and it’s a favorite of mine. It’s more poetic than a list of tasting notes–though the edge of peaty smoke, the sea salt, fruity undertones, and Talisker’s signature pepper (worn mild with enriching time) are all there.

But it’s the essence of the first warm morning in spring when the storms of winter have stopped breaking over the rocky seashore. It’s the rocks the waves can’t break, the crisp air that remembers the gale that saturated the wind with rain and sea salt but now has made peace with the sunlight.

It’s the old friend stepping off a boat. It doesn’t beg for your attention because it knows what it is. It waits for the wise and the intrepid to sit still and let it work its magic.

Talisker 18 has been my favorite 18-year-old single malt scotch, and this bottle did not disappoint. It has the perfect balance of Peat, maritime sea salt some pepper plus citrus flavors all working together in beautiful layers and then with a wonderful long finish that melts in your mouth.

I highly recommend the Talisker 18 and you won’t find a better price in the US for it.

My collection was missing a Campbeltown, and I’ve heard great things about Springbank, including its being family owned and operated. It’s lightly peated and easy to drink, featuring citrus and grassy notes.

I think this is a very underrated scotch, and while Campbeltown’s have faded away recently, this is certainly worthy of being added to your collection. The one downside is the price, which has experienced a rather steep hike lately.

$84. 99 for a 10 year is a lot, especially when you can get other high quality 10 years like Talisker, Laphroaig, Ledaig and Glengoyne for significantly less. Still, if you are looking to add a Campbeltown to your collection, Springbank is the way to go.

I bought this a month ago after many positive reviews on-line. Have enjoyed other Springbanks, which is considered one of the last “hand-crafted” distilleries. The 10 year old is my perfect profile – sweet fruits & slight smoke.

Not overpowering peat. It gets better as you move down the bottle, more rounded. I like to add a few drops of water.

I’m not a trained taster, so take this with a grain of salt, but this is a splendid single malt. The nose is an enticing, fruity mingling of apples and oak. Palette is creme caramel and apples with undertones of oak and pine and a trace of smoke.

Finish is a lingering medley of apples, oak, and smoke. After experiencing Springbank 10, I’m dying to get a taste of Springbank 15.

Amazing whiskey, wasn’t able to find this in stores anywhere. I was so excited to find it online, it’s the perfect entertaining whiskey because it’s smooth and not overwhelming. Great to have on hand for the holidays and good for a whiskey collection.

Love this whiskey the only thing I hate about it is that you can’t buy it at any liquor store you actually have to go through the process of hunting it down and ordering it but it’s worth it

The Serpent’s Bite tastes much better than Jim Beam Apple. Good on the rocks with just a small amount of water. Haven’t tried Crown Apple yet.

From the bottle: Sweet and mellow. Malt, fruit, caramel, honey, herbal, vanilla, ex-bourbon cask influence. Neat, in the glass: Heavy malt with overpowering ABV that shuts off most other notes. This is probably not designed to be nosed neat.

One of the most recognisable whisky brands in the world, this family owned distillery continues to successfully produce and market quality scotch. Nose Thin caramel accompanies strong vanilla notes. Newly fallen apples, mown grass and a little white chocolate round off what is a very pleasant experience.

Palate The caramel thickens up, helped by a somewhat oily mouthfeel. Bitter, not quite ripened apples add bite to an otherwise gentle and uncomplex palate. Finish Fresh Vanilla and apples are all that are left, the finish lingers a little but could not be called anymore than short.

IIt’s very agreeable but lacks the complexity to keep me coming back. A great choice for newbies or anyone looking for a daily dram. Cheers.
