20 Best Gaming Monitor For Xbox One Under $200 (2023 Updated)

I bought this monitor and I am bitterly disappointed with the image quality. I also have various laptops and an 8 year old ACER Monitor all of which are far superior!! Firstly the colours out of the box are all wrong, yellows look green!! reds look orange, after many hours of internet research and adjusting settings managed to get decent colour but the text on documents is never sharp.

Towards the sides of the monitor the image dims so the led is not uniform and the viewing angle is terrible. I have an ASUS ROG Strix Laptop and the image quality is fantastic, what has ASUS done with this monitor that it is so bad.

It also hurts my eyes after a very short period of time, never had this before.

This monitor is poggers. It’s cheap, affordable and epic. Comes with all the advertised specifications and includes a 2 metre display port cable which is capable of 165hz. The stand is a bit meh as it jiggles and shakes if you have a wobbly desk.

One of the best purchases I’ve made. Since buying this monitor I’ve become a pro epic gamer.

A large and versatile display that’s optimized for and excels at gaming, and between gaming sessions it serves well for general purpose work. My main gaming hooks are Sports, Adventure, and FPS. To put this display to the test I hooked it up to both a gaming PC and a pair of XBox Consoles – an XBox One S and an XBox Series S – though the display settings and options are equally applicable to both.

Most of the features on the VG279Q1A are nice but fairly standard to ASUS gaming monitors – Low motion blur and response times, high frame rate capability up to 165Hz for this model, and visual enhancements like Shadow Boost, FPS counters, and a selection of OSD crosshair overlays.

Standout features to me on this particular model are the Timers and FPS Histogram mode for gaining a short but helpful visual history of recent FPS peaks and lows. Gaming on this didn’t blow me away, but it was a definite upgrade from the 21” non-gaming display I had been using recently.

The display is 165Hz capable but you’ll only get that if your video card is capable of it AND if you’re using DisplayPort. Via HDMI you’ll find yourself capped to 144Hz which is still respectable, just keep in mind that if you’re a performance junkie (and what gamer isn’t) you’ll want to use DisplayPort if at all possible.

Also, know that for modern gaming consoles it appears to be capped at 120Hz, the specs mentions PS5 and XBoix though though I was only able to test it with the pair of previously mentioned XBox systems and they both were recognized for and worked great at 120Hz The display supports 2xHDMI 1.

4 and 1xDisplayPort 1. 2 connection, and is both AMD and NVIDIA sync friendly, Freesync and Adaptive-Sync respectively. The VG279Q1A doesn’t have speakers of its own but it does have a 3. 5mm audio port which proved handy for consolidating the various inputs to headphones or for passing the audio for the active input on to a soundbar/speaker system.

When not gaming the VG279Q1A looks quite nice for regular app and browser usage, like previous ASUS gaming monitors I personally found the FPS mode gave a balanced “not too warm not too cold” colorscape for to my liking that, frankly, I found myself using in almost all cases if only because I think it honestly just looked the best.

I’m happy if not blown away by this display. It’s a good-sized, solid performer, for a reasonable price. I have previous ASUS gaming computers and displays that are well built and continue to last so I expect the VG279Q1A to serve our main gaming-den needs for quite some time.

As a self confessed computer nerd bird I have always been fascinated with computer graphics and in that vein, by default, that extends to what you are playing on. I’ve always considered ASUS a top brand in my book, up there with Corsair and EVGA.

There is a reason for that, cutting edge tech backed with superb support and industry wide acceptance and support in each and every project. This monitor, although my first ASUS, is not my first ASUS product, of which there are many.

I tend to either get EVGA or ASUS for my graphic cards and so it would stand to reason that getting one for my monitor is not beyond the pale. This monitor is easy to setup, completely tool less and fast, we are talking only maybe 5 mintues in total.

Now once it’s setup and you head to the actual use part, well things only continue to do quite well and that is to be expected, I think, considering the brand. I fired this up with my second PC in order to try it out and that consisted of a lot of games.

The actual setup of the issue is made easier with the fact that I also, coincidentally have an ASUS Gefoce RTX 3070 Tuf video card, which is ideal considering this is same manufacturer and same line.

But really this monitor is going to work for anyone so perhaps not a big deal but rather a timely coincidence. Now how does it function? Well amazing! It plays everything out of the box, no adjustments, pretty well.

I’m not a professional when it comes to color calibration and such but it looks really good to me and it does give you several options to choose from (I believe I chose VIVID) and of course those with an eye for this can go ahead and customize it the way that they see fit.

Windows 11 recognized it right away and installed the drivers for it and I was able to change the overclock for Hz to maximum in the Nvidia Control Panel without any issue. Games run flawless, Windows looks amazing, the actual joystick control given is also something you usually only see on high end monitors so I am very impressed with this monitor and will be using it on my second PC that my wife uses to game on.

Over the years I’ve basically run the gamut of monitors from the cheapest to some of the most expensive, large, small, TVs as monitors and everything in between. There’s a lot to be said about having a high performing monitor, though this is a place where a lot of people choose to save a few bucks in favor of another part of their PC.

The strange thing about that is that the monitor is basically the window (no pun intended) into the capability of that PC. If you’re gaming and you spent a lot on your processor and graphics, you wont ever really utilize that performance to its fullest without a monitor that can really utilize it.

/soapbox This monitor does all of that and more, and it does it in a thoughtful manner. The packaging is much the same as any monitor, it’s clamshelled inside some foam inside a carboard box, ok nothing special there.

However as soon as you remove it from the box it already starts to show where it stands out. This monitor has both HDMI and DP inputs and it comes with one of each cable. In my experience this is rare, if a monitor comes with any cables it’s usually only one and you basically dont get to choose.

Having both options readily available, especially with the prevalence of both interfaces on many high end graphics cards makes this a win already in my book. The arm and stand are unique solely in their look, though the arm has a hole through the middle to help with cable management which is a nice touch, and common among many monitors these days.

Connecting it is much like any other monitor, plug it in, turn it on and it basically works. With the option of one of two HDMI ports or a single display port you can plug in either or multiple as you wish depending on your needs.

The HDMI ports are v1. 4 which can support up to 144hz on this display, while the DP interface v1. 2 supports up to the full 165hz. While the monitor doesnt support 4k, it would have been nice to see the HDMI 2.

0 spec on the HDMI ports so that it could run the full 165hz on those, but I can understand that there isn’t any real need for it. When connected, Windows recognized the ability of the monitor and I was easily able to select the appropriate refresh rate.

In gaming, what can I say. it’s beautiful. AC Valhalla is silky smooth when powered by an RTX 3090 at 165hz. I routinely play WoW and while this monitor is overkill for that scenario, I can say there’s definitely no issues with something like that.

All in all, it’s a really well made and gorgeous monitor. I’d readily recommend this to anyone.

I was looking for a monitor that was good for gaming as well as for work. I initially didn’t want to spend a lot of money on monitors. That’s why I initially tried an AOC 24g2 that I bought from Amazon.

Trust me it’s not the same game. I always had the EX2510 in the back on my mind and finally decided that it was worth my extra money based on research from reddit, YouTube, etc. I purchased my first monitor in November.

I was instantly amazed with the experience of 144hz on pc and 120hz on console. For that reason, I decided to buy a second one in January. Until now, no dead pixels or any big issue with both of the monitors.

I recommend the EX2510 to anyone, even to my enemies. +++ Best buy surprised me with a 2-day shipping that I though only Amazon could do, which I appreciate very much. 4 month review: Brightness, colors, and experience still continues to amaze me.

No dead pixels yet. I use theses monitors for at least 20 hours each day for work and school, as well as gaming when I have the time. I’m planning on getting my third EX2510 (yes third!) if the monitors continue to function properly.

Crisp clear screen all the time. Great definition. I am not a ‘gamer’ but just do normal office work from home. Saves me straining to see, and is ergonomically sound. Just love this monitor and wish I had more!.

Its a 4k monitor and does the job. Not tried with any games for blur, just as I need to work on my computer. Very good picture.

Right out of the box, this monitor looks fantastic. I have been using computer monitors since the early ’80s spanning many brands, form factors, panel types, resolutions, intended use cases, etc. The Samsung Odyssey G5 (S27AG500PN) stands out as one of the best display options that I have experienced, especially if you have an interest in gaming.

The Odyssey G5 sports a laundry list of premium features including HDR support, 2560×1440 resolution, Nvidia G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync, 1-millisecond response time, DisplayPort 1. 2 support, as well as 165/144hz refresh rate (DisplayPort/HDMI).

This is an excellent monitor for those searching for premium performance from an accessible price point. Regarding the performance of the monitor, I have tested it in three circumstances: gaming, media-viewing, and productivity.

On the gaming front, I was impressed. The monitor provides a crisp display and vibrant colors while maintaining a lightning-fast response time and framerate, provided you have the hardware required to drive games at this resolution and framerate.

From first person shooters to strategy games to rhythm games, the speedy performance of this monitor is outstanding. I experienced no input lag at any point, including gaming with a controller. However, one minor issue presented itself: the contrast and light-balance of the panel.

Given the fact that this is an IPS panel, it is understandable that it would not be capable of producing the insane contrast provided by the likes of OLED/QLED panels, but I found that the black-balance and viewing angles of the monitor left a little to be desired.

On this point, I would recommend against using this monitor if you consistently have sunlight shining directly on your setup, as it does succumb to some glare in the presence of exceedingly bright light.

However, for myself, and I’m assuming many others, this does not pose much of a downside. Regarding media-viewing, the minor image-quality issues outlined above persist, however, I feel that it is worth noting that this criticism only holds up when comparing the monitor to OLED/QLED panels.

Speaking strictly in terms of IPS panel performance, this monitor offers a very pleasing image; and if all this talk of OLEDs, QLEDs, light balancing, and panels sounds confusing, you likely won’t take any issue with the monitor whatsoever.

Getting back to the performance, I was impressed with the vibrance and clarity of the image, especially when viewing HDR supported content. On the topic of productivity, I found that the Eye-Saver mode made for a much more comfortable user experience in the realm of bright, white, high-contrast user interfaces often found in business applications such as the Office 365 Suite.

Regarding the physical attributes of the monitor, the stand provides a sturdy stature and a small footprint while allowing for a range of ergonomic adjustments in height, tilt, and rotation. Additionally, the stand includes a small strap near the base which helps quite a bit with cable management.

Visually speaking, the monitor gently straddles the line between ‘professional monitor’ and ‘premium gaming apparatus. ’ There are no RGB accent lighting features, but the small Nvidia G-SYNC insignia as well as the finishing pattern on the rear of the monitor subtly indicate the horsepower hiding under the hood.

Overall, I believe that this is an outstanding monitor and provides excellent performance in gaming, media-viewing, and productivity. I would recommend the Odyssey G5 to anyone looking for a premium performance package.

I purchased this monitor after relatives accidentally broke my 34″ Ultragear curved monitor. Oh the horror. It pained me as I had saved a long time for that magnificent monitor. The cost of having it repaired however was too much for me, and so I opted for a less expensive option.

After some research, I ​decided to go for the 32″ ultragear 1080p version, although the 1440p version was quite tempting, but due to the pandemic and life, I can’t afford it. Of course, life is still a blessing even if I had nothing, and as LG nicely puts it, Life’s Good.

Back to the monitor. I use it in conjunction with a Firestick 4k edition, and to my surprise, it automatically upscales the resolution to 4k and is pleasing to watch. The display is very smooth, and it runs Stadia nicely via Chromecast, and runs Chromecast and the Firestick great in general.

Although the 32″ and 34″ curved are in different tiers, it does not feel like I had to compromise, and I still find it very enjoyable for every day use. The build is sturdy and feels quite durable. It’s an awesome monitor, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Just to rant, I am saddened that you @LG won’t continue making phones as your quality and value is second to none, but I am still excited to see what products you’ll come up with in the future. I hope this review helps someone who is on the fence on whether or not to get this monitor.

If like me, you want a high quality monitor, but cannot afford the more expensive options, this one will not disappoint you, and apparently it is also great for next gen gaming. Thank you LG for another top notch product.

I can’t tell you how hard it has been to make this monitor work with my laptop. I just needed the right cable to connect my HDMI (source/laptop) to the Monitor (DP). Couldn’t figure it out on my own so-called LG; LG had no clue.

Then I called my laptop maker, again no clue which cold/adapter to make the two work together. After searching for hours, finally found an Adapter going from HDMI (source/laptop) to DP (monitor), which are not plentiful.

So if you want this monitor for gaming, ok. For anything else, stay away!!!.

I bought this about a month ago I absolutely love it I’m so happy with my purchase! If your looking for a great monitor! This is the way to go! It has amazing response time! Great frame rate cap! I haven’t had a single issue! It was as simple as put it together and plug and play! I wouldn’t trade this for anything!.

My picky and honest review: The only good thing about this monitor is the 165hz. It does feel like butter when your playing a game but the colors are very flat and dull, and it’s only 1080. I had an expensive Asus ROG 3560×1440 monitor before this and unfortunately it had lots of dead pixels that eventually left green lines across the screen.

I need the 165hz so I got this lil’ guy thinking it would suffice. but I’m not sure I’m even gonna keep it even though it’s so affordable. Like I said, the colors are very dull. And it just feels like old technology, 1080 is simply blurry compared to 1440.

It’s a massive difference and it spoiled me. And then theres little things like the logo is a cheap sticker on the frame and mine peeled off within 10 min. The stand isnt adjustable at all. And lastly, the menu is annoying to navigate.

So, yes, it’s a decent budget monitor for gaming if a sharp/high-res picture isnt necessary for you. And NO, it isn’t G-Sync compatible like some reviews say, just AMD freesync.

Great high refresh 1080p monitor. Low cost good quality. If youre looking for a high refresh rate freesync monitor look no further this is a very good buy. Just dont expect too much from the speakers and buy external ones.

Overall, for the price, I am impresses. (so far) I am running mine right now in full 1080p – 144 refresh and I see no problems in it’s display. This would make a good gaming display for any kid that is participating in games on-line that can’t afford those $400 gaming monitors.

My one problem I have with this monitor is there is no technical specifications on this unit other than a general mention of what ports the monitor has on it’s advertising page. I bought this monitor with the need of using the HDMI audio feed sand this is the only one that actually had some sort of audio support even though it doesn’t have any speakers in it.

There is no mention of what type of headphone jack is needed, whether it needs a 4 circuit or a 3 circuit phone plug. These are not interchangeable. I started looking for a support line for ONN and the ONN support website only handles a number of their TVs, and no monitors.

They told me to contact Walmart for support but Walmart doesn’t have any technical support. My conclusion is that when you buy ONN products you are taking a chance on a device that is locked inside of a box with no labeling as to what you are really buying and no way to get support on it when you need help with their product.

So, with this said, this is why I am giving only 4 stars and not 5.

I bought this to go with my other Acer monitor. The picture on this monitor is much sharper and clearer than my first one. The default settings were quite good out of the box, so I did not need to adjust them at all.

I was also pleased to find that my monitor included a cable. It is quite enjoyable to play games on this monitor, as well as to work on it. Although I dislike the location of the control button at the back, I love the joystick navigation control, which makes changing configurations so easy.

The monitor does have an impressive outward appearance. It does have a bevel around the outside, which makes it less thin, and I personally might even like it this way as I can play with height and tilt.

I have it mounted, so if you are buying it with that intention, normal mounts work just fine with it. It has a nice flat cut out on the back for mounting purposes, but you will need to take out the stand from it (which is normal I guess).

In summary, this monitor offers good performance and good picture quality at a reasonable price. Oh, and the frequency is definitely 165Hz. It is possible to change the frequency in the video card driver to 165Hz.

I wanted to get my hands on a gaming monitor but being an occasional PC gamer did not want to spend much. I brought this with low expectations, but I was surprised by the picture quality and looks of it.

I have connected my laptop via docking station and use mostly for home use and for casual gaming. This has definitely enhanced my gaming experience while still serving as a monitor for home use. The monitor is highly responsive with no lags and have excellent graphics, sharp images and true colors with good saturation.

This also have 8 different gaming modes presets to choose from. Longer duration on the screen does not strain eyes much. The monitor is really good at this price. The only thing missing is an inbuilt speaker.

Item is as advertised. – Screen is decent size and the whole thing is light so it is extremely portable. It is bright as hell and I only have it set on 60 in a well lit room so it is easy to watch in a dark or light room.

The only problem I have is that if you are not close to eye level, the picture isnt as clear and the screen makes it seem more bright then it should be. – The monitor can be powered by either the socket on the wall or if you are looking to save on the amount of plugs to plug in, the unit can be powered up by the gaming system as well with the Y USB cord.

– The monitor comes with a sleeve to keep it protected and there is a side pocket you can use to store the USB cord, the power block, and the supplied HDMI cable (it is about a 1. 5-2 feet, very short but much needed so I am not littered with long cables.

) In my opinion, if you can pick this up on sale, it is worth the money if you wanna play with your console on the go (I am currently bringing my PS4 Pro to work and play for 4-7 hours. ) but do I think it is worth almost 200 dollars when you could buy a cheap computer monitor that is higher off the table and has a larger screen, probably not.

but you are more buying the convenience that it is lighter and easier to store than a computer monitor (I have the backpack that the company sells and the Gaems monitor fits perfectly in one compartment with my PS4 pro and my controller with a small case of games.

My work requires comparing data between reports, Excel spreadsheets and database tables. Working from my desk is no problem since I have 3 monitors to view them. But during meetings, when you only have your laptop, it’s hard to function with the limited screen space.

This monitor is perfect since it’s portable enough to bring to meetings, connect via HDMI to my laptop and power it with a USB cable connected to same. Now, with the WFH scenario, I can just connect an Amazon Fire Stick to it and use it to stream videos while working.

I ordered this because i sit with my grandmother for 8 hours a day. So when i get home i dont feel like gaming. Now i can take my xbox with me and game while i work. All other sellers were selling used m155 for $160$200 and i was able to save $20.

It also got to my house 3 days after i ordered it.

This ASUS gaming monitor is a great choice for anyone that wants a nice display for gaming, but is on a limited budget. The full HD picture quality is excellent, and the 75 Hz refresh rate is the minimum needed for gaming.

Since this monitor is good for gaming, it is even better for everyday computing functions. The overall image quality of this monitor is excellent. The colors are accurate and vibrant. There are better looking gaming monitors out there, but definitely not at the price point of this ASUS.

A high refresh rate is a must for gaming, but hardcore PC gamers will likely not be satisfied with the 75 Hz refresh rate, and will opt for a monitor with a higher refresh rate and higher cost. I am using this monitor for PC and PlayStation gaming and find that it performs well, with no noticeable lag.

Even though this is a gaming monitor, it is very common for people to use displays for multiple functions, so I also used it to watch videos on Vudu, YouTube and Netflix. Video playback was excellent so this display can be easily used for gaming as well as everyday computing applications.

This monitor is highly adjustable, and rotates from the standard horizontal orientation to a complete vertical orientation. I will likely not use it vertically, but it is a nice feature because you never know, and it could prove to be useful with some applications.

This monitor is limited to 1 HDMI and 1 VGA input. VGA is so antiquated (I am not sure why it is even included) that most people likely will never use it. I would much prefer a second HDMI input, but one HDMI input will get the job done.

If your video card has a DisplayPort output then an HDMI adapter cable can be used. There are no internal speakers, but there is a standard audio jack that can be used for headphones or speakers.

The Asus VG246H, while may not have the most catchy name, it has a great feature set for a mid-range gaming monitor. You get a 1080p resolution at 23” (decent pixel density), ELMB (motion blur reduction), Freesync (HDMI only – sorry Nvidia users), and other features that may or may not be your bag.

Overall for the $180 asking price it’s not a bad setup. Upon unboxing, you’ll find the stand already pre-attached to the monitor, with only the base to screw in. There’s a blue outline on the base and a textured pattern – but other than these, that’s about the only gamer ‘flare’ and it’s understated.

If you’re looking for something that can fit in a setup that’s not over the top, this monitor is relatively understated. The stand is a nice bonus at this price point, and you’ll be hard pressed to find something that can rotate, twist, and angle.

The stand is vesa mount, so if the monitor ever went kaput you could harvest the stand – bonus! The panel is edge to edge with minimal bezels and dark area. Thankfully you’ll find it has the power supply built in, so you can just use a standard 3 pin power cord.

Let’s talk ports real quick. Out back you’ll find 3 ports: HDMI, VGA, and 3. 5mm headset jack. Of course while it’s nice to have VGA for legacy applications, I’d trade it any day for a second HDMI in a gaming monitor – or a display port.

The implications of having just one HDMI and no display port mean that you won’t be PC and console sharing this display without some serious compromises. VGA is analog, so you won’t get audio, or frankly, a very good picture on a native digital display.

A second HDMI port would have offered PC & console connectivity, even allowing sharing the same speakers via that 3. 5mm output. The lack of display port here means that for the vast majority of Nvidia users, you won’t be able to use the Freesync capabilities of this monitor.

While only offering 48-75Hz variability, it’s still a feature that makes a pretty big difference for many lower end 1080p gamers. In the age of insane GPU prices, that’s a sad miss on an otherwise great feature set.

Moving on panel brightness is sufficient for gaming and most office tasks. The IPS nature of this display means that colors are well saturated and bright. Viewing angles are great as well, and the stand really allows that to show off.

Being able to rotate a display to vertical orientation may not mean much to your average gamer, but for productivity, this monitor pulls great double duty. Panel size is appropriate for the resolution.

23-24” panels at 1080p offer decent pixel density and don’t leave you feeling like you’re looking at an undersized TV. The monitor is comfortable to use and uses a direct DC backlight, reserving any PWM for the ELMB feature.

Speaking of features, the monitor sports the aforementioned Freesync over HDMI. If you have a Radeon card, this feature will allow you to use 48-75Hz variability. You can’t use this feature and ELMB or some other tweaks, but overall this is the primary feature choice you want if you’re sporting a lower end Radeon from the past few years, as it will really smooth out games that your card might struggle to keep at 60 or 75hz.

If you’re an Nvidia user, ignore Freesync, it isn’t happening over HDMI at least until 2. 1 gets ubiquitous (HDMI VRR isn’t standardized until version 2. 1). So what does an Nvidia user have to benefit from on this monitor? Well ELMB is pretty nice.

While it introduces backlight strobing (completely on purpose – it’s how this feature works), it creates a much smoother motion. This means that text that would be unreadable in motion is clear as if it were coming out of a CRT (that’s a big tube monitor from the 90’s kids).

This monitor offers 2 modes: Standard and Turbo. Standard gets you most of the benefits while not affecting backlight brightness as much as Turbo. Turbo does an excellent job, and even textures that appeared blurry on Standard are quite clear, but it comes at the sacrifice of more monitor brightness (strobing a light on and off lowers overall brightness).

I like Standard, and this is the feature if you have an Nvidia card you want to consider, especially if you’re into RTS, MOBA, or FPS games. The effect on text in motion is amazing, so be sure to consider it.

Beyond that, there are slew of gimmicky features, like added crosshairs (Practice mode. really?), a timer (could be useful), an FPS counter with a graph (kinda cool, but only useful if you’re using Freesync), and display alignment (for aligning multiple displays together).

Honestly, use the timer or the FPS graph (with Freesync) and forget the rest. Image adjustments like most Asus monitors are a tad confusing. The mix and match of what features are supported when is made clear by enabling those features, but it’s still confusing.

For instance ASCR can’t be used with ELMB or Eco, but ELMB can’t be used with Freesync ASCR, or Eco. It makes sense, but there are a lot of acronyms going on here. ASCR’s dynamic contrast ratio is ok, but it makes a minimal difference.

Furthermore, each picture mode enables or disables certain features, which is confusing. sRGB is the worst of these, while offering arguably the best accuracy, it barely lets you tweak any settings. Scenery or RTS are probably the best starter configurations, but there is no standard, which for some reason irritates me.

Some of the modes (looking at you MOBA) offer weird effects on color in general, so be wary of some of the predefined settings. The response time on this panel is rated at 1ms with overdrive on. Overall, that’s a marketing number and it’s obvious that the panel is fast for an IPS, but 1ms might be pushing it a bit far.

Anyways, I highly recommend the ELMB – as it makes this panel just about as good as a TN while offering a much better picture. Just do it as long as the backlight strobing doesn’t bother you. Overall this is a decent amount of monitor for the price.

You’re still only getting a 1080p 23” display, but you get a great stand, lots of features, a fast panel with a flexible ELMB setup, and Freesync if you’re sporting a Radeon card. Styling is understated, so you could use this in a professional environment without people looking at you funny.

IPS is great for colors, and the display is well saturated. I would highly consider this if you’re looking at 1080p monitors in general, and especially if you’re a Radeon gamer. This monitor isn’t perfect (would have really loved another HDMI and/or a DisplayPort), but you get a lot for your money here too.

The ASUS VG246H is a feature rich, budget gaming monitor that offers a lot of well thought out features. However, budget is the thing to remember because it does fall short in performance. Ergonomics and build quality – Asus did a great job – you can adjust the monitor just about any way you want.

It swivels, tilts, rotates and height adjusts with ease. You can even put it portrait mode (which I intend to for spreadsheets on a second screen. The base is solid and the monitor has good heft to prevent it from tipping and moving.

The monitor itself is relative thick and bit reminiscent of something from 15 years ago. Connectivity – Single HDMI and VGA – no display port. I would have expected at least a dual HDMI like it’s VG245 brother.

It is a budget monitor, so you get what you pay for. Picture and viewing angle: 1080P, not 4K. I would not expect it to be 4K nor is it necessary at 24 inches. Refresh rate is a gimmicky 75hz; for all practical purposes it behaves like a 60hz monitor.

Blacks and greys are not uniform and there is noticeable blooming at the edges. Contrast between white and black is average at best. The viewing angle is poor, the VG246H picture gets washed up with at angles.

Text clarity is average and could be sharper. For comparison, if I rate my LG Gram at 100% for text clarity; the Asus VG246H would come in about 75%. I think the brightness may be a component of that.

However, while it is noticeable on text documents ; it was not during gaming. Colors- Color reproduction was good with no bleed and minimal banding. Better than I expected after looking at the blacks and greys.

Brightness – Passable at best. Needed to increase out of the box and change the settings to scenery mode to get an acceptable level. Bright rooms will wash out the screen. Performance – The Asus VG246H refresh rate is excellent.

At 1ms, you will not notice any performance issues whatsoever. Far better smoother motions than expected and no flickering than I could notice. Exactly what you want in a gaming monitor. Controls and settings – Great for a budget monitor.

Many options for screen setting but not to the level of a pro monitor ( nor do you need it. ) The controls are an odd multi-button format, I prefer a joystick arrangement better. There is a gimmicky Gameplus mode where you can set crosshairs, a timer and a FPS counter – all meaningless for most gamers.

It does have a useful feature called display alignment for lining up multiple monitors. As you can see, this is a mixed review. The important thing to remember is to set the proper expectations – this is a budget monitor.

Would I buy it? No. Would I recommend it? Yes. Everyone has a budget and if you are looking for a monitor under $200, the ASUS VG246H does offer a lot for the money.

Pros: Fantastic build quality. Stand is extremely sturdy and variable. Image quality is fantastic as expected from a 4K IPS display. Product was quick and easy to assemble. Took all of five minutes before I was up and running with it.

Primarily bought it to hook up to my PlayStation 5 and it displays fantastic imagery. Also using it to work from home on and to hook up to my gaming rig. Cons: If you’re buying this solely for the use of online multiplayer gaming.

It would do the job but I would probably suggest going for something with a lower refresh rate and around 144hz. However I’m past the days of fast online competitive gaming and playing single player titles and the likes and this monitor is ticking all the boxes for me.

Note that the HDR is practically nonexistent, can’t really tell the difference between having it on and off. But that wasn’t one of the key selling points for me, so no harm done.

I have learned this monitor can NOT be HDR capable when the input is Display Port 1. 2. It is mentioned at en. wikipedia. org/wiki/DisplayPort#cite_note-DP_1. 4 and other places that 1. 4 is required for HDR so none of the monitors stating HDR can be if they use DP 1.

2 ! When it is turned on in windows 10 the screen goes very dark for some reason too. I am disappointed with my purchase as there are multiple issues like with 10 BIT on 120FPS is the max FPS. Something is wrong and very scamy here from ASUS.

With 10 bit turned off and not using the Fake HDR the screen is decent and runs @144Hz nicely. I would Advise anyone purchasing this not to expect a HDR monitor and for 10bit colour to be activated 120fps is the max.

I hate it when manufactures blatantly lie obviously knowing they are giving misleading specifications.

Honestly, for the price, I can’t complain, but I now know that I should have just bought a pair right off the bat to have the same refresh rate across all my screens, mix and matching with older monitors will leave you having a bad time.

Also, Freesync works fine, but performance is not quite what they claim it is, on my RTX 3090 I ran a refresh test with a camera made specifically for refresh rate testing (we have one at work for hardware tests on displays used for animation projects) and the results were closer to 3-4ms response time under load conditions.

The fact is though for this price I’m not going to complain, most monitors in the price range of 3-500 are going to be 2ms+ anyway, and the whole curved 2k screen aspect makes this one worth it to me.

I would just prefer more accurate claims in the hardware descriptions from Asus. Give real world numbers, not ideal lab condition numbers, doing so is just dishonest advertising, and while the average user might not have access to the testing equipment to accurately evaluate your claims, those of us who do, especially when we work in an industry that is dependent on specs being accurate, are going to shy away from trusting your products once we put them through their paces and find them to be somewhat less than was promised.

(International Purchase) Received in good condition. No issues, no dead pixel. SRGB mode IPS color reproduction needs a few tweaks, but overall good. Bright monitor even at 40% brightness. Works well with it, using DisplayPort for it to work with NVidia EVGA gtx 1650 super.

Fairly New. Will update review along the way. One thing to note, all cables are provided. so, no need to buy an extra unless you want or have too.

Im not sure what it was but this monitor looked horrible! Im using a GTX 1650 Super so its not a high end GPU, but wow did this monitor look sub 1080p. I have a two monitor acer nitro xf243y setup and those look way better than this one.

Even worse on the PS5, I played Ghost of Tsushima for a couple mins and the scenery looked jagged and not very pleasing to the eye. I returned it after a day and yes i did play with the settings. Oh and it still had a DVI port, that’s an old.

Comes with DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort cabling in the box. Stand is already attached, just need the base/bottom attached to that and you’re good to go. The fastest/easiest time I had setting up a monitor yet.

Has FreeSync, and as far as I know, it seems that it works with the new NVIDIA gsync drivers. I tested it briefly with Battlefield V and I didn’t have any obvious problems right away. Works great, has lots of nice features from Asus like blue light filtering, extensive menu options, and 7 color profiles.

Price is higher than normal 1080p monitors, and you can get a good IPS 1440p, 144Hz monitor for less than $100 more, but my computer isn’t really capable to use 1440p/144hz unless it’s on all lower settings at lower FPS than I could get in 1080p.

Not a trade-off that’s worth it for me right now. I play lots of FPS games, including Battlefield, CSGO, Overwatch, and I’m glad I went with this monitor. I have recently tried TN and VA panels and this is ideal for what I look for in a monitor.

TNs have the best gaming performance for sure, but their colors and viewing angles are pretty bad; VA panels are a nice compromise between TN and IPS but there can be ghosting/some kind of issue in gaming and response times can be pretty bad.

Was unpleasant for me so I couldn’t use VA. IPS has the great colors, decent response times, and overall great panels. Finally can use one at 1080p! The 27″ screen is nice, some people complain about this resolution at this size, but I don’t mind it.

I’m not too picky, however. I think it helps when gaming, compared to something like a 24″. Overall, very happy with it in the 2-3 days I’ve used it so far.

I bought it 26th March 2019, we got 4th July 2022 – display still works perfectly fine, plastic is not shouting too much, screen have no bleeding Got only 1 subpixel (appeared month after buy). I would totally recommend it, but just like all displays on the market, it suffer lack of new drivers.

This leads into problems with displayport on Windows 10 and 11 (DO NOT REINSTALL SYSTEM IF NOT NEEDED, ISSUE MAY START THEN) – when setting anything different in “Screen sleep after X minutes” than 10 minutes (for example 1 minute) screen wont turn off, it will be still backlighted and display “DisplayPort” as source and “no signal”.

cyckle will last 9 minutes. THEN IT WILL TURN OFF. LG, if you read this, pleaso, contact Microsoft, release fixed drivers – cooperation here is the key. I reported this issue to You, Microsoft, AMD, MSI and issue is getting worse, more displays of different brands are getting this issue randomly.

On Nvidia, on Intel and on AMD, on Windows 11, on Windows 10, BUT NOT ON LINUX, and not on HDMI, thats clearly software issue, but reinstalling system, changing GPU drivers, chipset drivers, DDU, fresh install is not helping.

I’m 99,9% positive its Windows + DisplayPort (Monitor) compatibility issue.

My last gaming monitor was 27” MSI 165hz 1080p curved monitor. This upgrade was definitely worth it. Gaming or just about anything you do on a PC is going to be that much better with this monitor. The display is huge, it makes streaming movies way more enjoyable.

Very quick refresh rate makes gaming and just browsing in general way better experience. Very simple setup, no tools needed. Hand tighten the base to the stem and then the stem snaps into the support bracket on the back of the monitor, that’s it.

Adjustments are very simple using the button on the bottom center, plenty of setting to mess around with for what you prefer. I use the Display Port but there are also 2 HDMI ports and a 3mm headphone jack.

The base and support stem are built very very well, no fears of this tipping over like many of my other monitors with the slightest bump. The only thing and I mean only thing I do not like is the power cord being so short.

It’s maybe 4ft? So I definitely recommend buying an extension cord so you can set it up anywhere you want. Other than that I plan on using this a lot and hopefully for many years.

Needed a high refresh monitor for Valorant gameplay. Completely changes the feel of the game going from 60hz to 144hz, and I had a noticable improvement in stats from the switch. What I didn’t realize is how nice watching content would be on this, the 2k resolution is really fantastic and the build quality is very nice, although I do feel weird changing the height and orientation on these (you have to just push it as it feels like it’s propelled by an internal shaft).

Make sure you go into your settings and change the display from 60 to 144hz to maximize the performance. Brighter than I could ever need, and it is large. Honestly if you’re running a dual monitor setup, you might want to look into the 27in ones unless you have a large desk.

Takes displayport and hdmi, and has nice adjustability. Stand comes in a red accent if that’s your vibe, though I might switch to a wall mount down the line as it does take up a bit of space.

This is one of the smallest monitors I own, but I have to say it looks pretty good. My plans are to use this with my gaming laptop when I’m at my second home. I did however test on both my home gaming desktop and my gaming laptop.

First off, it blows my laptop screen out the water. Secondly, it performs fairly well compared to my bigger more expensive gaming monitor at home…. a monitor that has extra features such as 10 bit color, 2k resolution, HDR, etc… I tried to do some gaming on my work monitors with my laptop and I just have to say it looked awful and unbearable.

This one stood up well during my games. A little more calibration on my end and I think I can get this looking even better. The monitor is easy to setup, no tools required and takes about 2 min (one hand screw).

It comes with HDMI and DisplayPort cables which I always appreciate. No instructions came with it aside from the basic assembly of the stand. After running some monitor tests including bad pixels, color, and motion, I was ready to see how it performed.

One big thing I’m not a fan of are the controls on the monitor. There are 4 buttons on the backside and one joystick-style button next to them. Its really not intuitive but if you use it enough I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.

I had to go find the manual on their website just to get half an idea of what to do and even then I still struggle using it but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. I figured out (confirmed when I found the manual as well) that in order to get the 165Hz you will need to be using DisplayPort.

HDMI 1. 4 isn’t quite good enough to max out your settings with this monitor and I feel like for a newer gaming monitor, a newer HDMI version would have been ideal, especially when you are touting 2 HDMI ports.

So be prepared to use DisplayPort or you’ll be down to 144hz or less. There is also no native fully implemented G-sync on here if you have an Nvidia card, only Adaptive sync…however you CAN enable G-sync on this monitor.

In the Nvidia control panel, where you can enable it you will see the message “Selected Display is not validated as G-SYNC compatible”. But, it seems to be able to use G-sync technology. Nvidia has a pendulum test where you can test for screen tearing and you can have V-Sync, G-Sync, or neither enabled to see how it performs.

It will not let you select G-Sync if your monitor isn’t compatible, but you can on this one. Also, I couldn’t hardly see any tearing on any option (with DisplayPort cable), but I assume this is because of the high refresh rate which helps.

FreeSync is also natively available if you have an AMD card. Shadow Boost, ELMB, Gaming Features, 1ms MPRT, and built-in speakers are some nice features on this monitor, but I usually do not use extra monitor features because there is usually a trade-off or some adverse effect to using features (disabling of other features or making colors/FPS/etc…look worse).

These are nice options to have though as they could definitely benefit certain needs. A few key things I like are the display brightness(350 cd/m2) which is on par or higher than a lot of gaming monitors, fast response time, and my games have looked pretty good on it so far (COD MW/CW and Microsoft Flight Simulator).

I have not noticed any blur or visual lag whatsoever in my games. The monitor is lightweight and easy to move around and has a headphone 3. 5mm jack built into it. Overall, I think its a good gaming monitor, however I think being a newer model they could have included upgrades/extras to give them the edge such as KVM, USB-C, HDMI 1.

4a+, HDR, etc. Despite the fact that I would like to see these improvements on this monitor, ASUS delivered well on what they advertised so that is why I am giving it 5 stars. This is a great addition for a gaming laptop or anywhere that may not be able to accommodate larger screens.

I’ve been using budget monitors for years, not believing there was much benefit in using a better model. I couldn’t have been more wrong. It is well constructed and very sturdy. The weight of the base is really reassuring and lets it move smoothly in 3 dimensions.

The picture quality is excellent with vibrant colours. Easy to recommend. Its not the cheapest, but you get so much more for spending a little extra.

I have been using this monitor for the past 2 months, and I have to say, I am loving it so far. For the past 4 years, I had been using a 32 inch TV with a 60Hz refresh rate. The resolution of that TV was 1366×768, which is slightly above 720p, so in terms of viewing experience, that TV was vastly impeding and bottle necking my setup, so it had to go at some point.

Now, going from that TV, to using a 1080p, 24 inch, 144Hz, 1ms response time monitor, is like learning to drive a Ford Model T, jumping out of that, then jumping straight into a Bugatti Veyron. So, the big question is ‘How is this monitor for gaming?’ Honestly.

It’s amazing! Most of the games I threw at it were able to hit above 100fps, and some less demanding games hit the 144fps mark without any problems. The games were running on high settings with v-sync turned off.

Although the framefrate of the game is more determined by the hardware it’s running on rather than the monitor itself, but I feel that the monitor helps in the overall viewing experience. I tested games on my personal rig, which is an i5 4690, GTX 1060 Strix, 16GB RAM.

Nothing too extreme, but it stands it’s ground with the games I throw at it. So, what is my final opinion of the Asus VG248QE and should you buy it? Well – Do you want to get into 1080p, 144Hz, 1ms response time gaming? Do you want a well built and great looking monitor, which also has multiple angles of adjustment for all use cases? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those, then yes, I absolutely recommend this monitor without any hesitation!.

So far (2 days into using the display) it’s been a dream. 2k/32in is probably the perfect balance between desk space, pixel density and performance. 4k media looks great on this without producing jaggies or anything similar whilst being crisp and beautiful.

1080p upscales very well with minimal image quality loss if you’re looking to upgrade and using smart upscaling or just standard upscaling for those games that don’t support it. SDR content was washed out at first with HDR on, however (as an AMD GPU user) I forgot that my driver software has a 10 bit pixel format setting that needed to be switched on.

This cleared up all my vibrance issues in SDR content while HDR is enabled in Windows. There is virtually no ghosting, very impressive for a VA panel as I’ve owned others that do ghost pretty badly. Aside from that there are three Overdrive modes that allow for correcting this and fine tuning the appearance of objects in motion.

HDR is absolutely beautiful and turns dark scenes from a washed out mess into nice, deep blacks. This makes horror games or darker titles significantly better to game on. Even on SDR. If you’re looking for an affordable package that ticks all the boxes and seems to be a jack of all trades, this is the display for you.

I can’t think of any downside to this display as it stands currently, and this is after extensive testing in various forms of media (HDR movies and games to SDR games, old games, new games, etc) However I will caution anyone on the fence of a freesync/gsync display, there is flickering that will occur when your frame rate drops below 60fps, as this pushes the screen below 60hz and causes a noticeable flicker.

This has happened with all freesync displays I have used. You can simply fix this by turning freesync off, but it can be a pain at times. If using AMD hardware I believe you can set freesync off for specific titles so if you are playing something that has a locked framerate or you can’t run particularly well but still wish to play, you can always set freesync off for that title and turn vsync on.

Lastly, Thank you Pixio for producing quality, affordable display options. So far I do not regret my purchase, and offering a 3 year warranty with the product was a sign of trust in your build quality.

If this display lasts, you will definitely be my go-to for any future display needs.

Overall as a day one review, this seems like a pretty good monitor. It’s easy enough to setup once you figure out the menu button on the back. The button itself is somewhat difficult to use due to it’s location on the rear of the monitor instead of the side or bottom edge.

I don’t have a very good understanding of how to use/tune free-sync yet, but after using only 60hz monitors forever, it’s very nice having much higher refresh rates. The bezel is very thin, but there’s a good 1-1.

5cm gap between the edge of the picture and where the bezel starts. This might be a setting I haven’t found yet though. The biggest downside of this monitor for me is the stand. It’s terrible. The attachment point on the rear is a little loose and the monitor isn’t level without some adjustment.

I put a piece of silicone under one of the mount feet to level it out. And the feet are absurdly long at 10in or 25. 5cm, taking up less and more desk space at the same time. It’s also a somewhat tall stand, at 3.

8in or 9. 6cm. For a monitor selling at $309, the height should be adjustable. Luckily I bought it for much cheaper on sale. But if I had paid full price, I would be more displeased with this. Day one impression, is a solid 8/10.

I am very Disappointed, it was not until I hooked everything up and went online to find out why there was no sound that I was informed there are no built in speakers. I can not believe that a smart setup like this would come without speakers.

For myself it defeats the purpose, now I have to either use my bluetooth speaker which requires me to setup everytime I turn the speakers back on, or purchase another item (speakers) and plug them directly into my desktop and have to manually turn them on and off.

Not that I am lazy, or stupid, but I could have sworn we were in to twenty first century, I mean the monitor works nice as it comes on and shuts down automatically, I assumed it also had built in speakers.

Very Disappointed, they should have let you known this, or even wrote it on the box, or gave instructions that said there were no built in speakers. And why is the a Setting built into the monitor that has a mute and volume when there are no speakers.

I guess that is for the port where you would have to buy speakers to add?.

This monitor delivers excellent specifications, but to take advantage of those specifications, I recommend downloading the Asus Display Widget from the Asus support site along with the monitor manual which will explain how to make choices.

Selecting display options is complicated to understand because options will turn off or on other related options. Buttons are available on the back of the unit but for setup simplicity use the modifications you want retained via the Display Widget App.

I have been using the 144 Hz, 8 bit, full color range at 2560×1440 with excellent results when gamming. Very bright colors with amazing blacks which pop out contrast and gamma. Any game will look great.

Don’t worry about 2K mode, the monitor handles older 1080p apps, movies, games and pictures without issue. Actually gives older low def media extra color pop and image definition.

This ASUS monitor looks great! As usual, make sure you actually set the monitor to 144hz in windows, or else it defaults to 60hz. Also, over clocks to 170 as advertised, though i’d prefer to run it at 144 for longevity ( I dont know how much it can affect the life of the monitor tbh).

Pixels look good, no text is blurry whatsoever. Colors are great from the get go, but it leans more on a yellowish hue, though it is a very easy fix. Has plenty of options for decent color, as close as possible color matching (including fixing the yellow hue).

The little thumb stick for the menu is incredibly easy to use and maneuver around the menu. Display Port 1. 2 is required to use the AMD Freesync technology, It will obviously work on AMD cards (tested with RX 5600 XT, and the Gsync works on a RTX 3070 as well.

Monitor’s stand is also great, good height, tilt is decent for viewing angles. Ghosting is minimal with overdrive enabled. Overall, amazing panel for the price, considering many others with similar specs are more in price.

Been on a spending spree with monitors lately. In just a year, I went from HP and AOC 24inch TN 144hz 1080 to MSI 24inch VA 144hz 1080 to Asus 27inch VA 165hz 1080 and now with the AOC 27inch VA 144hz 1440p.

Too be honest, I stumbled on this by accident. I was going to get another Asus VA 165hz monitor when I saw the AOC 1440p was at the same price as the Asus 1080?!?! Jumped on it since I’ve had experience with the MSI VA panel.

Plus reviewing other websites gave it favorable reviews. Box is well packaged and comes with DP and HDMI cables. Comes with standard power cable. The stand is made of metal and adjust up/down as well as swivels.

Monitor is nicely built, but typical plastic materials. Heck, the stand weighs more than the monitor. The stand has red accent, which isn’t too obnoxious. The monitor has a red accent at the bottom and I really didn’t noticed it.

Buttons are underneath the monitor. It’s awkward navigating with the buttons and probably my least favorite part of the monitor. Would prefer joystick or nipple. However, configuration is plentiful and if you go to their website you can download their i-Menu software which works great btw.

Ok, so turning it on and seeing 1440p at 144hz is pretty impressive. Blacks is def black. Great contrast. I’m no graphics expert, but to a normal gamer who just want to play or watch videos on a clear and crisp monitor, this monitor doesn’t dissapoint.

I read all the time VA panel has ghosting issues, but personally I just can’t see it. I’ve been using TN and VA for a year now, and can’t see the difference. Both perform great. So coming from a 1080 to a 1440p, I would say it’s an improvement in clarity, but wouldn’t say it’s earth shattering impressive.

Would I go back to 1080? Prob not. Also keep in mind if you are staying with the same graphics card, you’re gonna take a hit on FPS, that’s if you’re concern with that. From what I’m seeing, I’ve lost around 15-20fps going from 1080 to 1440.

I’m not an FPS snob, so it doesn’t bother me, but for those who are, just keep that in mind. Overall, it’s a great monitor. Def love it for the price and performance.

Guys this monitor is just great. I spent ages compiling lists of monitors to buy. I wanted something inexpensive, with good gaming specs, that would hold the place of a TV while I have limited space at home, but then could transition to a great gaming monitor for the PC I plan to build.

I wanted a curved screen for better comfort, something that had an audio jack, something that was tiltable and could be raised. Something with easy adjustments to the specs but also something I might not have to adjust much.

This baby checked all those boxes. Multiple inputs? Audio out? Easy to use buttons for switching and adjusting? Man, it has all that. It’s also just a sweet looking monitor, looks great playing console games or PC games or watching a show, and was super affordable for what I got.

Highly recommend.
